Each of the 16 spine-soothing games is priced 50% off, and the hair-settling assortment features entries from Simon the Sorcerer, Worms, and Rayman to name a few.<br /><br />If you ask us, dark magic, weapon-wielding invertebrates, and a legless, armless, and neckless man with feet, hands, and a head that move independent of his body are all plenty scary, thank you very much.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/31/gog-celebrates-halloween-wrong-with-anti-scary-games-sale/">GOG celebrates Halloween wrong with anti-scary games sale</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 31 Oct 2012 14:30:00 EST. Ratings have popped up in Australia for 3DS games called simply "<a href="http://www.classification.gov.au/www/cob/find.nsf/3ee9cf339ddee09eca2575ca000be1e3/01cf75f6b9d6e807ca2579680057f955?OpenDocument">Rayman</a>" and "<a href="http://www.classification.gov.au/www/cob/find.nsf/5b6ebdff7f5b9a24ca2575ca00062226/7c276fdb98b0e7d3ca2579680057f959?OpenDocument">Prince of Persia</a>," along with a Wii "<a href="http://www.classification.gov.au/www/cob/find.nsf/5b6ebdff7f5b9a24ca2575ca00062226/e8f7d9732979f327ca2579680057f957?OpenDocument">Prince of Persia</a>." Ubisoft has done plenty with both of these franchises, ensuring that we can't know for sure exactly what's been revealed here.<br />
<br />
The simplest explanation is that these listings are all for Virtual Console downloads. <em>Prince of Persia</em> was released on both the Game Boy and Game Boy Color, making it eligible for the 3DS Virtual Console -- and it was made for almost all of the platforms supported by the Wii Virtual Console. In addition, a game called "Rayman" was released on Game Boy Color, which was a combination of elements from Rayman 1 and 2 -- and thus providing an example of why we'd have a hard time knowing what the plain "Rayman" title referred to.<br />

	Haven't yet had enough of Rayman, despite the recent release of <em>Rayman Origins</em>, you horrible, insatiable glutton? We'll try to turn a blind eye to your avarice as we share with you this exciting news: Ubisoft just announced that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rayman-3-hoodlum-havoc-hd"><em>Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc</em></a> is being ported from its original Xbox and PS2 platforms to the XBLA and PSN during Spring 2012.</div>
<br />
The game will feature an "all-new high-definition makeover," and will be "updated to run at 60 frames per second and offers improved audio quality." Apart from that, it's the same Rayman you've come to know and love: Rewarding platforming, loveable characters and the constant, quiet unease of controlling a protagonist who has apparently been drawn and quartered.<br />

<br />
If you've yet to become acquainted with Rayman, you'll be able to participate in a brief meet-and-greet next week, when a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rayman-origins"><em>Rayman Origins</em></a> demo comes to Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. He's animated, rambunctious, and extremely French, so don't be shy about shaking his hand. Just don't cause an inappropriate stir when you realize there's no arm attached to it.<br />
<br />
According to Ubisoft, the demo offers three playable maps, lifted from the full platformer's "Jungle," "Ocean" and "Food" worlds, as well as an unlockable costume. And in case you missed it back there: <em>Food World</em>. <em>World of Food</em>.<br />

The demo hits Europe on November 9th, which should coincide with the North American PSN update on November 8. We'll confirm that date with Ubisoft in the meanwhile. <strong>Update:</strong> Ubisoft confirms that the demo's also coming to North America next week.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-origins-11-4-2011/">Rayman Origins (11/4/2011)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-origins-11-4-2011/#4584721"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/alive1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-origins-11-4-2011/#4584722"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/cloude1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-origins-11-4-2011/#4584723"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/machinecity021280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-origins-11-4-2011/#4584724"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/machinecity031280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/04/rayman-origins-demo-due-next-week/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rayman Origins demo due next week</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/04/rayman-origins-demo-due-next-week/">Rayman Origins demo due next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 Nov 2011 13:00:00 EST. The UbiArt technology, which is currently being put to use on <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/rayman-origins"><em>Rayman Origins</em></a>, will be as free and open as the space between Rayman's hand and body, if Michel Ancel has his way. Speaking to Develop, he expressed his desire to release the framework as open-source, to benefit other developers keen on making animated 2D games.<br />
<br />
"If you look at the best artists at Disney for example," Ancel told <a href="http://www.develop-online.net/news/38204/Ancel-wants-UbiArt-tech-to-be-free-for-all">Develop</a>, "they create incredible books and artwork and share their processes - it's interesting because those same people are happy to look at how other artists are developing their style. That whole medium has evolved on the basis of sharing ideas. But in games we lock it all in a black box and keep it to ourselves." Ancel hopes that the tools will inspire small devs: "It is more interesting to have a community and share our content."<br />
<br />
When <em>Rayman Origins</em> was first <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/14/rayman-origins-in-development-from-michel-ancel-is-2d-and-beaut/">announced</a> at E3 2010, it was accompanied by samples of other 2D games with varying art styles also made in the UbiArt framework. Even so, this plan hasn't actually been finalized yet. While he believes the technology will be offered freely, Ubisoft executives still have to make the final decision about licensing terms.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/13/ancel-wants-rayman-origins-ubiart-to-be-open-source/">Ancel wants Rayman Origins' UbiArt to be open-source</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 Jul 2011 19:30:00 EST. If you don't feel like buying a 3DS and a $40 cartridge to play <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/19/rayman-3d-is-an-adaptation-of-rayman-2/"><em>Rayman 2: The Great Escape</em></a> -- but you don't want to buy a <em>used</em> copy -- GOG provides another alternative. The DRM-averse online retailer has added the PC version of <em>Rayman 2</em> to its store, charging the customary $5.99. That's a <em>steal</em> for one of the greats of the 3D platforming genre, especially since GOG throws in a 91-track soundtrack download with the game.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/29/rayman-forever-is-on-gog-now/"><em>Rayman Forever</em></a>, a version of the first 2D Rayman game with assorted extras, is also available on GOG.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/26/rayman-2-the-great-escape-captured-by-gog/">Rayman 2: The Great Escape captured by GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 May 2011 14:00:00 EST. When Game Informer revealed the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/05/assassins-creed-revelations-concludes-ezios-story-this-novemb/">contents</a> of its new issue yesterday, buried under the <em>Assassin's Creed: Revelations</em> hoopla was the promise of Ubisoft news that has nothing to do with white hoodies or hidden knives: "six pages of new details and assets on the gorgeous new platformer, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/rayman-origins"><em>Rayman Origins</em></a>."<br />
<br />
For those assets, you'll have to wait to see the issue for yourself, but NeoGAFfer SolidSnakex <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=27647593#post27647593">summarized</a> the new information about the platformer -- information welcome to those of us who get nervous when they don't get regular status updates about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/beyond-good-and-evil-2">Michel Ancel games</a>.<br />
<br />
First announced as a downloadable, episodic title, <em>Origins</em> is now a retail game, and it's due <em>this</em> holiday season. It features four-player local co-op, though whether that is also online is unclear. According to the preview, it's designed to be accessible to players of different skill levels, and for each level to be enjoyable alone or in multiplayer. "I Dare You" challenges will allow players to bet on whether they can complete a "complex, acrobatic chain" to win in-game currency ("Lums.")<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/06/rayman-origins-is-a-retail-game-now-coming-holiday-2011/">Rayman Origins is a retail game, now coming holiday 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 May 2011 16:55:00 EST. The latest vintage game to hit GOG comes courtesy of the site's new Ubisoft partnership, which has already brought us a couple of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/11/gog-adds-might-and-magic-games-offers-quest-for-real-gog-sword-an/"><em>Mights &amp; Magics</em></a>. This one is a bit more canonically "Ubisoft," however -- it's <em>Rayman</em>!<br />
<br />
<em>Rayman Forever</em> is the "definitive" version of the first <em>Rayman</em> platformer, released in 1999. In addition to the original game (which is a side-scroller, for those of you who started with <em>Rayman 2</em>), it includes a level editor, allowing you to pretend you have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/06/rayman-origins-slapped-on-xbla-psn-this-christmas-other-platfo/"><em>Rayman Origins</em></a>' Ubiart toolkit. 40 fanmade levels are also in the package. That's a lot of stuff for $5.99!<br />
<br />
Still no <em>arms</em>, of course.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/29/rayman-forever-is-on-gog-now/">Rayman Forever is on GOG now</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Mar 2011 09:55:00 EST. The ESRB's rating offers a bit of new information about the mysterious title -- specifically, the platform. If you want Rayman's disembodied, floating arms to get all up in your face, you'll have to get a <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/3ds">3DS</a> to do so.<br />
<br />
There are still plenty of mysteries around <em>Rayman 3D</em>, like when it's coming out and whether it's an original game or a port -- and, if the latter, on which <em>Rayman</em> game it's based. There's no question, however, that Ubisoft has a lot of faith in the new handheld. This is the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/15/heres-the-list-of-every-3ds-game-in-development/">seventh</a> planned 3DS game from the publisher.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/31/esrb-yes-rayman-3d-is-a-3ds-game/">ESRB: Yes, 'Rayman 3D' is a 3DS game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 31 Dec 2010 19:00:00 EST. We can think of two likely possibilities for this game: first, that it's a collection of ported <em>Rayman</em> games, in 3D, for PS3, like the recent <em>Prince of Persia</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prince-of-persia">rereleases</a> and the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/20/splinter-cell-trilogy-sneaking-onto-ps3-in-hd-of-course/"><em>Splinter Cell</em> collection</a>, both from Rayman publisher Ubisoft. Or it's a <em>Rayman</em> game for 3DS.<br />
<br />
Both seem equally plausible: Ubisoft is continuing a recent trend, or preparing a mascot platformer for a new Nintendo handheld. Ubisoft declined to comment on this unannounced product, but at the very least we know there's some kind of <em>Rayman</em> product on the way -- besides <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rayman-origins">Rayman Origins</a></em>, which is decidedly 2D.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/22/rayman-3d-rated-in-australia/">'Rayman 3D' rated in Australia</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 Dec 2010 13:00:00 EST. The <a href="http://raymanorigins.uk.ubi.com/2010/07/02/about-the-game/">"about" page</a> for <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/rayman-origins">Rayman Origins</a></em>, the new 2D Rayman revival, reveals that the first episode is scheduled for a Christmas release, with "the rest" to follow in 2011. Ubisoft specified releases on "HD Consoles" for the platformer, with Wii, PC, iPad, and 3DS in consideration as well.<br />
<br />
The page also reveals that the Ubiart framework used by Origins' five-person team to create the game will be released open-source next year, allowing users to design levels and characters. Not only is Ubisoft making a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/scott-pilgrim-vs-the-world">convincingly indie-style game</a>, it's going to release tools to let you make indie games.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-origins-xbla-psn/">Rayman Origins (XBLA, PSN)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-origins-xbla-psn/#3148357"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/07/raymanorigins2010-06-14-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-origins-xbla-psn/#3148358"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/07/raymanorigins2010-06-14-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-origins-xbla-psn/#3148359"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/07/raymanorigins2010-06-14-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-origins-xbla-psn/#3148360"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/07/raymanorigins2010-06-14-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-origins-xbla-psn/#3148361"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/07/raymanorigins2010-06-14-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br type="_moz" /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/06/rayman-origins-slapped-on-xbla-psn-this-christmas-other-platfo/">Rayman Origins slapped on XBLA, PSN this Christmas, other platforms possible</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Jul 2010 11:58:00 EST. We know, we know -- <em>another</em> <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rayman">Rayman</a></em> game, right? But no, seriously, this one looks <em>totally sweet</em>. Debuted at today's Ubisoft press conference, <em>Beyond Good &amp; Evil</em> and <em>Rayman</em> creator Michel Ancel is developing <em>Rayman Origins</em>. From what we saw, it's a 2D <em>Rayman</em> that allows for some content creation as well. While we were impressed by the <em>Rayman</em> levels shown, a handful of user-created levels were also displayed with vastly different art styles. With any luck we'll get a chance to check out more when E3 <em>officially</em> starts tomorrow.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/14/rayman-origins-in-development-from-michel-ancel-is-2d-and-beaut/">Rayman Origins in development from Michel Ancel, is 2D and beautiful</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 Jun 2010 21:49:00 EST. Prolific mobile publisher Gameloft <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Knpf2guZmv0">has revealed its next project</a>: An iPhone/iPod Touch port of Ubisoft's N64 platformer, <em>Rayman 2: The Great Escape</em>. Let's get our obligatory naysaying out of the way, so it won't sour the rest of the post: "But, it doesn't have <em>buttons</em>! How are we supposed to make well-timed jumps while avoiding sharp, pointy obstacles without <em>buttons</em>?" We can't answer that for you, dear reader. You have to answer that <em>for yourself</em>.<br />
<br />
The good news is that the game looks surprisingly faithful to its original iteration. You can watch <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Knpf2guZmv0">a trailer for the title</a>, which is due out March 1 on the App Store, after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/26/rayman-2-the-great-escape-coming-to-iphone-march-1/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rayman 2: The Great Escape coming to iPhone March 1</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/26/rayman-2-the-great-escape-coming-to-iphone-march-1/">Rayman 2: The Great Escape coming to iPhone March 1</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Feb 2010 17:00:00 EST. There's some classic platforming to be had in both <em>Rayman </em>and <em>Shinobi</em> in this week's Nintendo downloads, and even a way to deal with Jack's overabundance of stress in <em>Stop Stress: A Day of Fury</em>. There's over ten titles in all, so cruise past the break for the full list.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/07/nintendoware-weekly-rayman-stop-stress-shinobi-street-fighte/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NintendoWare Weekly: Rayman, Stop Stress, Shinobi, Street Fighter Alpha 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/07/nintendoware-weekly-rayman-stop-stress-shinobi-street-fighte/">NintendoWare Weekly: Rayman, Stop Stress, Shinobi, Street Fighter Alpha 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Dec 2009 10:30:00 EST. Through a partnership with TransGaming Inc., <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ubisoft">Ubisoft</a> is poised to bring select titles to Mac gamers (yes, we repeat: "Mac gamers") through retail and digital download channels. The two most significant offerings will be <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prince-of-persia">Prince of Persia</a> </em>and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/shaun-white-snowboarding">Shaun White Snowboarding</a>, </em>although Ubisoft will also provide <em>CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Hard Evidence</em>, <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/tag/rayman-raving-rabbids"><em>Rayman Raving Rabbids</em></a> and <em>Petz Sports</em> to retail locations for the first time. Those games are currently only available through Ubisoft's website. <br /><br />You can download <em>Prince of Persia </em>and <em>Shaun White Snowboarding</em> for Mac from Ubisoft's site (and look for the other games on retail shelves) next month.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/19/ubisoft-bringing-select-titles-to-mac-gamers/">Ubisoft bringing select titles to Mac gamers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Feb 2009 18:45:00 EST. But, that doesn't mean it's hopeless. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ubisoft">Ubisoft</a> is just one of the third-party developers that have found success on the console. How? Through strategic and careful planning.<br /><br />"We saw that at the end of this year, there were not so many Nintendo products, and we thought there was a window of opportunity," said Ubisoft CFO Alain Martinez at the UBS Global Media Conference this week. "I believe to date, Nintendo is about 30-35 percent market share. So that means if you are aggressive, and if you come up with the right products, you can gain market share there." Because of this, the company expects <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/shaun-white-snowboarding"><em>Shaun White Snowboarding</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/raving-rabbids-tv-party"><em>Raving Rabbids TV Party</em></a> to sell 1 million and 1.5 million units each, respectively.<br /><br />It's not like Nintendo is making it so that third parties need to wait for the stars and planets to align, however. "Nintendo is surely not making it impossible for people to make good games [on its systems]," Martinez added. "They've been helping us make games. So it's up to us."<br /><br />Of course, this isn't to say that Ubisoft has had nothing but luck with the Wii. They've tried to pile some stinkers on us in the past. But, monkey see, monkey do. Just as we all found out last week, today <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/11/sbcg4aps-dangeresque-3-hits-wiiware-this-monday/">marks the release</a> of the fourth episode of <em>Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People</em>. Oh, and we're also getting <em>a bunch of other games</em>. This week, seriously, has a lot of games. Head on past the break for the full list.<br />
<br />
Also, our apologies. There likely won't be a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/vc-monday-madness">VC Monday Madness</a> video today, but we'll try to get it up as soon as we can. Sorry!<br />

Reader Joshua is one lucky dude. He managed to score a copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/raving-rabbids-tv-party"><em>Raving Rabbids TV Party</em></a> from his local <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gamestop">GameStop</a>. Being that they specialize in games, we're surprised to hear about them violating the street date for this title. Sure, it's only a week early, but while Joshua is sitting at home, enjoying his game, we're <em>writing about him enjoying his game</em>. Oh, how we wish we were him!<br /><br />If you're looking to score a copy early, you might want to hit up your local GameStop, as Joshua suggests. They might do the same thing for you. And if you're looking for some video from the game, hit up Joshua's site <a href="http://bluesteel.coffeecommander.net/?p=104">here</a>.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/13/gamestop-letting-the-rabbids-out-of-the-bag-early/">GameStop letting the rabbids out of the bag early?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Nov 2008 16:27:00 EST. The video above focuses on the minigame Monster Tractors, which, you guessed it, has you racing around the farm on tractors. Of course, with this being <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/07/balance-board-taking-over-rabbids-tv-party-blog-makes-butt-joke/">a <em>Raving Rabbids</em> game</a>, it's not your normal tractor race. These are some souped-up tractors of epic proportions racing about in a highly comical fashion. Man, we love those crazy little rabbids.<br /><br />After you check out the video above, head on past the break to see video from the Mega Balls minigame. It's, uh ... <em>weird</em>.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/16/rabbids-go-hog-wild-with-farm-equipment/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rabbids go hog wild with farm equipment</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/16/rabbids-go-hog-wild-with-farm-equipment/">Rabbids go hog wild with farm equipment</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Oct 2008 17:25:00 EST. We liked the original, thought they dozed on the sequel, and hope the combination of randomness and fun returns for <em>TV Party</em>. More than 50 mini-games are shipping with the new Wii game, most of which will be playable with four people. About 30 percent of the games will be able to use the Balance Board, although the <strike>fad</strike> device won't be required.<br /> <br />We played three mini-games at the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/nintendo-fall-media-summit-08">Nintendo Media Summit</a> and are hopeful that this will be the best version yet. We'll know for sure after the November 11 release.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-raving-rabbids-tv-party-1/">Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-raving-rabbids-tv-party-1/#1079979"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/rrrtvparty_compo_sky_surf1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-raving-rabbids-tv-party-1/#1079978"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/rrrtvparty_compo_danse1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-raving-rabbids-tv-party-1/#1079977"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/rrrtvparty_screen_sky_surf1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-raving-rabbids-tv-party-1/#1079976"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/rrrtvparty_screen_danse1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rayman-raving-rabbids-tv-party-1/#1079975"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/rrrtvparty_compo_beastie-boarding_tricks1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/06/joystiq-impressions-rayman-raving-rabbids-tv-party/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq impressions: Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/06/joystiq-impressions-rayman-raving-rabbids-tv-party/">Joystiq impressions: Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Oct 2008 20:45:00 EST. All of the rabbid haters can suck on a lemon, for all we care. It's natural, then, that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Ubisoft/">Ubisoft</a> would release some silly trailers showing their new mascot characters running rampant through Olympic events in Beijing. Also there are probably some Olympic-style minigames in the actual game.<br /><br />The latest trailer, above, combines the usual yelling-based Rabbid humor with some classic Bugs Bunny. We've embedded the last Olympic-style clip, from last week, after the break. It's also funny, yes, but it also makes us feel genuinely bad for the poor, stupid Rabbid for the first time, because it looks profoundly painful.<br /><br />
<span style="font-style: italic;"></span><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/19/rabbid-and-rabbid-at-the-olympic-games/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rabbid and Rabbid at the Olympic Games</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/19/rabbid-and-rabbid-at-the-olympic-games/">Rabbid and Rabbid at the Olympic Games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Aug 2008 21:16:00 EST. We've been a little busy with all the <a href="http://e3-2008.joystiq.com/">E3-ing</a> and being <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/18/thank-you-harmonix-nyko-naughty-dog-and-you/">hosts</a>, so here's the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psn-thursday">PSN Thursday</a> update for this week. PS1 classic <span style="font-style: italic;">Rayman</span> is available, along with PSN game <span style="font-style: italic;">Elefunk</span>. There's also several E3 videos and just sunshine with rainbows. By now, you've probably noticed the seizure warnings interjected into the start-up screens of many games, giving the .02 percent of the population that suffers from <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosensitive_epilepsy">photosensitive epilepsy (PSE)</a> a heads-up that the following game may not be entirely safe for them to play. However, Gaye Herford, a mother residing in England, <a href="http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=144913&amp;command=displayContent&amp;sourceNode=231190&amp;home=yes&amp;more_nodeId1=144922&amp;contentPK=20852019">has brought her concerns over game-related seizures to British Parliament</a> after her 10-year-old son suffered a seizure following a round of <em>Rayman: Raving Rabbids </em>on the Nintendo DS.<br /><br />Parliament has agreed to debate whether or not rigorous testing for seizure-inducing material in video games should be required by their developers on a heretofore undecided date. Television and films are already tested in this manner, but no countries require similar checks for games. <a href="http://www.dsfanboy.com/2007/12/06/seizure-brought-on-by-ds-game-leads-to-banning-crusade/">Ubisoft has independently agreed to begin performing these tests</a> on all their future titles, though we find it difficult to imagine how one makes a mini-game compilation featuring hyperactive, mutant rabbits without using <em>some</em> PSE-sensitive material.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/15/mothers-campaign-to-bring-video-game-seizure-concerns-to-britis/">Mother's campaign to bring video game seizure concerns to British Parliament a success</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 15 Jun 2008 13:30:00 EST. Her 10-year-old son, while playing <em>Rayman Raving Rabbids</em>, went into an epileptic fit. She had no idea that games could send players into </span><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); text-decoration: none;"><span id="main2">photo sensitive epileptic (PSE) seizures. We guess she hasn't seen the intro splash screen Nintendo has had around since <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon#Health">the <em>Pok&eacute;mon</em> incident</a>.<br /><br />But, after a long year, she has won her battle. Ubisoft has volunteered to do the testing itself and will try to ensure such a thing does not happen again. Herford also managed to secure a debate in Parliament, for a future date that is yet to be determined. "As a parent myself, I was shocked that a single game could possibly trigger a sudden first-time seizure, with its life-long implications," says Weston-super-Mare MP John Penrose, who helped Herford in her battle. "Right now, most electronic game publishers simply issue written warnings about PSE on or inside their products - and that's on a voluntary basis. But that's no good for the thousands of people with dormant PSE because they don't know the warnings - if they even read them - apply to them." <br /><br />At the time of the article, no comment was made by Nintendo. Ubisoft did say, though, that testing of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rayman-raving-rabbids"><em>Rayman: Raving Rabbids</em></a> on the DS "showed that no images posed a high risk for photosensitivity epilepsy. However, we made a corporate decision to pre-screen and pre-test all Ubisoft in-house developed games regardless of platform, prior to publication."<br /></span></span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/12/mom-wins-her-fight-in-rayman-raving-rabbids-epilepsy-ordeal/">Mom wins her fight in Rayman Raving Rabbids epilepsy ordeal</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Jun 2008 18:00:00 EST. <br />With "bigger and better" becoming a mantra of sorts for modern game design, it seems only logical for the developers and publishers of our favorite blockbusters to expand their operations in tandem with their goals. Speaking to <a href="http://www.developmag.com/interviews/212/Pardon-my-French-Part-2">Develop</a>, Ubisoft head of global development, Christine Burgess-Qu&eacute;mard, has said that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tom-clancy"><em>Tom Clancy</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prince-of-persia"><em>Prince of Persia</em></a> publisher is always looking to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/02/ubisoft-has-1-2-billion-acquisition-war-chest/">widen its worldwide business</a>. <br /><br />"We want to continue our strategy of innovation, and in order to do that, we need to have more people and generate more business," she explained. "Every blockbuster we work on, we invest in new studios, new teams and new projects." As for measuring up to rival monoliths, EA and Activision Blizzard, Burgess-Qu&eacute;mard states that Ubisoft (or is that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/10/forbes-details-take-twos-ea-alternative-ubisoft/">Take-Twobisoft</a>?) won't be caught resting on its laurels. "We are in the race, definitely - and we're not in it to come last."<br /><br />Now, please remember the other half of the aforementioned mantra, Ubi. Bigger <em>and</em> better. We could certainly do with fewer giant corporations pumping pollution into our virtual environments.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/ubisoft-wants-to-up-its-game-be-on-par-with-ea-activision-bliz/">Ubisoft wants to up its game: be on par with EA, Activision Blizzard</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jun 2008 16:00:00 EST. <br />Despite the fact that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/01/peep-these-screens-for-rayman-raving-rabbids/">first</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/31/rabbids-do-know-what-to-do-with-a-ds/">two</a> games appeared on the DS, the <em>Rayman Raving Rabbids</em> series has always been more closely associated with the <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com">Wii</a>, either because the original was a Wii launch game, or because the DS iterations are <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ds/raymanravingrabbids">pretty</a> <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ds/raymanravingrabbids2">mediocre</a>.<br /><br />Now, the involvement of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/raving-rabbids-balancing-out-their-wacky-life/">Balance Board</a> is threatening to relegate the DS edition of <em>Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party</em> to an even more insignificant footnote, but we hope the DS game stands on its own. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/05/promotional-consideration-reasoning-with-rabbids/">Rabbids</a> are liked by pretty much everybody we know, and deserve a worthy handheld game. Protip though, Ubisoft: it's probably best to avoid <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/06/seizure-brought-on-by-ds-game-leads-to-banning-crusade/">this</a> kind of publicity.<br /><br />[Via press release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/rabbids-to-return-to-ds-may-even-get-noticed/">Rabbids to return to DS, may even get noticed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 May 2008 20:00:00 EST. Ubisoft has announced <em>Raving Rabbids TV Party</em>, due out this holiday season for the Nintendo Wii and DS. Said the press release, "The Rabbids plan to invade televisions worldwide, providing players with a variety of games and comedic exploits spoofing TV shows, pop culture and even advertisements."<br /><br />As was hinted in a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/29/raving-rabbids-wii-fit-balance-board-yogaaaaaaaaah/">recent video</a> (embedded after the break), <em>TV Party</em> will make use of the Wii <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/balance-board">balance board</a>. Early screenshots indicate the balance board is not required for every game, but will involve sitting on the board and shaking your butt. Said CEO Yves Guillemot, "The inclusion of the Wii Balance Board into the game was a huge source of inspiration for our development team and I guarantee you will see the Wii Balance Board used in ways that will be surprisingly unexpected!" More details are to come at this year's E3.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/raving-rabbids-tv-party-wii/">Raving Rabbids TV Party (Wii)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/raving-rabbids-tv-party-wii/#989401"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/rrrtv_screen_toothpaste_14082008_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/raving-rabbids-tv-party-wii/#989400"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/rrrtv_screen_salsa02_14082008_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/raving-rabbids-tv-party-wii/#989399"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/rrrtv_screen_mg_dance_intro_14082008_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/raving-rabbids-tv-party-wii/#989398"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/rrrtv_screen_mg_dance_14082008_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/raving-rabbids-tv-party-wii/#989397"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/rrrtv_screen_template_mg_dance_14082008_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/raving-rabbids-tv-party-for-use-with-balance-board-coming-this/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Raving Rabbids TV Party, for use with balance board, coming this winter</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/raving-rabbids-tv-party-for-use-with-balance-board-coming-this/">Raving Rabbids TV Party, for use with balance board, coming this winter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 May 2008 13:15:00 EST. Wii pair <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wii-fit/731093/full/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Wii Fit</span></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/game-night/">Game Night</a> favorite <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/25/wii-fanboy-review-mario-kart-wii/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Mario Kart Wii</span></a> are close behind in most places (because we're optimists, we're now going to consider third as the new first), though yours truly would love to know where <span style="font-style: italic;">anybody</span> is finding <span style="font-style: italic;">Mario Kart</span> in the UK -- I hit the high street to find a copy for a friend a few days back, with zero success.<br /><br />Further down the charts, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/07/metareview-boom-blox/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Boom Blox</span></a> made (what could almost be described as) an impact in its second week on sale, soaring from outside the Top 40 to 19th in the UK, while <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/09/the-hidden-emotional-depths-of-super-mario-galaxy/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Super Mario Galaxy</span></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/12/uk-duo-get-world-record-playing-guitar-hero-iii-in-uk/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Guitar Hero III</span></a> rejoined the top ten in Holland and Sweden respectively. When we turned on our Wii earlier to check and see if the recent habit of providing us with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/12/nintendo-channel-new-week-new-demos/">new DS demos every week</a> would continue, we stumbled upon something very odd. You see, this week's new DS demos are, in fact, the first set of DS demos that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/07/wiis-nintendo-channel-ds-demos-now-available/">released alongside the Nintendo Channel</a>. Just now, they don't have an expiration date attached to them.<br /><br />For those of you with a bad memory (or no desire to click links), the list of demos available has been placed past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/19/new-ds-demos-are-the-old-ds-demos/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New DS demos are the old DS demos</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/19/new-ds-demos-are-the-old-ds-demos/">New DS demos are the old DS demos</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 May 2008 14:00:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wii-fit/731120/full/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Wii Fit</span></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/25/wii-fanboy-review-mario-kart-wii/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Mario Kart Wii</span></a> continue to fly the flag for the Wii in Europe, with the former appearing in every European top ten this week. <span style="font-style: italic;">Mario &amp; Sonic</span> also put in a characteristically strong performance, while <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/29/the-rabbids-show-us-how-to-use-the-balance-board/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Rayman Raving Rabbids 2</span></a> (ninth in the UK) and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=mario+party+8&amp;searchsubmit="><span style="font-style: italic;">Mario Party 8</span></a> (tenth in Holland) seem to be enjoying a second burst of shelf life after their release last year.<br /><br />But heck, you can tell all that simply by inspecting the charts after the post break. What you probably <span style="font-style: italic;">won't</span> remember is that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/07/metareview-boom-blox/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Boom Blox</span></a> launched in Europe this week, yet never threatened any of Europe's top tens/twenties/forties; looks like this Spielbergian gem has been given the same frosty reception by consumers that it experienced in the U.S. Weaksauce (as my American colleagues might say)! It's sadly ironic, really -- EA's best game for donkey's years, and it's not even charted.</div>

<br />Love 'em or hate 'em, Ubisoft's rabbids are quite the characters. From this little teaser video that the company sent to IGN, it's also not hard to believe that the bunny-like critters will soon be back on the Wii for <em>Rayman Raving Rabbids 3</em>. Whether the unconfirmed (but likely) game will use the Balance Board, or whether the rabbids are just spoofing <a href="http://nintendowiifanboy.com/tag/wii-fit"><em>Wii Fit</em></a> remains to be seen.<br /><br />We'd guess that there's a high possibility for inclusion of the Balance Board in the next <a href="http://nintendowiifanboy.com/tag/rayman-raving-rabbids"><em>RRR</em></a> iteration. Since the rabbid titles are generally full of minigames, the Balance Board will add a lot more possibilities in that regard. As IGN points out, Reggie also said that there were ten games using the board currently in development.<br /><br />We're sure it won't be very long before all is revealed, though, so stay tuned.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=287924">NeoGAF</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/29/the-rabbids-show-us-how-to-use-the-balance-board/">The rabbids show us how to use the Balance Board</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Apr 2008 17:00:00 EST.
