<em>FZ: Side Z</em> is he second half of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fez"><em>Fez</em></a> remix album and it's out today, assaulting your eardrums for $5 or more. The first half, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/15/fez-remix-soundtrack-out-april-20-will-keep-you-up-at-night/"><em>FZ: Side F</em></a>, launched on April 20 for the same semi-name-your-own price. Both albums feature tracks from various artists, including the original <em>Fez</em> soundtrack composer, Disasterpeace.<br />

This time, Mykah turns his focus on the Kirby series, giving us <em>Kirby's Bassface</em>, a five-track EP remixing some of the pink puffball's classic tunes. The album takes on several recognizable themes, including Green Greens and, our personal favorite, a percussive, wobbly rendition of King Dedede's theme.<br /><br />You can listen to the album for free right <a href="http://music.gamechops.com/album/kirbys-bassface">here</a>. Composed by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massive_attack">Massive Attack</a> alumni <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Davidge">Neil Davidge</a>, the standard edition <em>Halo 4</em> soundtrack will encompass 15 tracks from the game's score in both physical and digital formats for $13.98.<br /><br />The Special Edition 2-Disc Box Set, on the other hand, will set you back quite a bit more. At $75, the package includes the standard soundtrack, a 14-track remix album (sorry, no Skrillex), a behind-the-scenes "Making of <em>Halo 4</em> Music" DVD and accompanying hardcover book with "composition notes from Neil Davidge plus exclusive behind-the-scenes photos and exclusive artwork images." The kit also comes with a 12-inch art print signed by Davidge, an honest-to-goodness <em>vinyl record</em> with Cortana and Master Chief on the disc itself, and a special shirt for your Xbox Live avatar.<br /><br />Whether your Halo-music monetary threshold is $14 or $75, both versions will be available at <a href="http://halowaypoint.com/halo4soundtrack">Halo Waypoint</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/22/halo-4-soundtrack-lands-oct-22-special-edition-runs-75/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Halo 4 soundtrack lands Oct. 22, Special Edition runs $75</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/22/halo-4-soundtrack-lands-oct-22-special-edition-runs-75/">Halo 4 soundtrack lands Oct. 22, Special Edition runs $75</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 Aug 2012 19:00:00 EST. Originally discussed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/05/little-big-adventure-games-may-be-re-released-lba-remix-being/">back in August</a>, talk of a remade/remixed version of Adeline Software International's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Big_Adventure"><em>Little Big Adventure</em></a> (known stateside as <em>Relentless: Twinsen's Adventure</em>) has resurfaced during <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/news/your_questions_about_little_big_adventure_answered">an interview</a> between GoG.com and the creative minds behind the series, Didier Chanfray, Fr&eacute;d&eacute;rick Raynal and S&eacute;bastien Viannay.<br />

Other than confirmation that a rerelease of the original <em>Little Big Adventure</em> is in the works, the team also hinted at the possibility of an eventual <em>Little Big Adventure 3</em>: "We obviously have a lot of ideas for a third part, our best fans already know some of them, but before telling you more we need to test some of them with the remake. Games are different nowadays and we don't want to be stuck in 90's." If only every developer could be so <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/duke-nukem-forever">self-aware</a>. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/31/little-big-adventure-remake-confirmed-may-be-used-as-testbed-fo/">Little Big Adventure remake confirmed, may be used as testbed for third title</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 31 Dec 2011 18:30:00 EST. Oh, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sonic-the-hedgehog-4"><em>Sonic</em></a> fans. Every time a new <em>Sonic</em> is announced, you <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/01/mega64-explains-the-appeal-and-letdown-of-sonic-the-restaura/">joke about not getting fooled</a> again and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/26/sonic-fans-create-the-best-boycott-of-all-time/">you promise</a> that, this time, you won't be taken in. And we believe you -- why would you go back to Sonic after everything he's done to you? But then a few weeks go by, and suddenly we click a link and find you <a href="http://blogs.sega.com/usa/2010/03/15/sonic-4-spotlight-whats-in-an-intro-a-whole-lot-actually/">remixing the 10 seconds of intro screen music</a> that's <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMwKBg-VcpA&amp;feature=related">been revealed</a> from <em>Sonic 4</em>.<br />
<br />
Seriously? Did you have to create a rock version, an 8-bit version and even a Dreamcast-style version? Sure, they're cool, and sure, we've embedded them after the break, but isn't this <em>exactly</em> the kind of excitement we all agreed we wouldn't have for the new game? Yes, we're glad to see that <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jun_Senoue">longtime <em>Sonic</em> musician</a> <a href="http://junsenoue.com/site/">Jun Senoue</a> has been announced as the composer for new game, and we're looking forward to hearing more music when the Sega blog releases it. But as your history teacher said, those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. Let's wait until we play the game before we start remixing it 10 seconds at a time.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/16/sonic-fans-remix-sonic-4-intro-get-way-too-excited/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sonic fans remix Sonic 4 intro, get way too excited</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/16/sonic-fans-remix-sonic-4-intro-get-way-too-excited/">Sonic fans remix Sonic 4 intro, get way too excited</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Mar 2010 23:30:00 EST. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yasunori_Mitsuda">Yasunori Mitsuda</a> is the composer behind some of the gaming industry's most moving soundtracks, including the accompaniment for <em>Chrono Trigger</em> and <em>Chrono Cross</em>. His work was recently honored by the video game music preservationists of OverClocked ReMix, who recently released a re-imagination of what many consider to be Mitsuda's magnum opus: The <a href="http://xenogears.ocremix.org/">musical compositions of <em>Xenogears</em></a>.<br /> <br /> The album, which the group has been working on since 2006, comes in two parts: "Humans," which focuses on natural sounds and acoustic instruments, and "Gears," which features electronic instruments and darker selections from the soundtrack. It's the group's most impressive endeavor to date -- and at the low, low price of <em>free</em>, you've got no reason to avoid it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/20/overclocked-remix-releases-xenogears-fan-tribute-compilation/">OverClocked ReMix releases Xenogears fan tribute compilation</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Oct 2009 01:00:00 EST. Dale North decided that the vocalizations in the existing song didn't do enough to tell the story of two researchers who spend their days shaking up love potions and pouring the resulting mixture into a bag, and so he recorded his own lyrics.<br /><br />"I hope she likes my safety goggles," the <em>super</em>-literal lyrics to North's version read, "because the chemistry between us two is made by throwing little bottles." Taking Kazuo Sawa's score from the original <span style="font-style: italic;">Super Dodge Ball</span> (NES) and arranging it with some ethnic flavor (based on the different teams' countries of origin) makes for a great combination. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/15/no-more-heroes-not-a-bomb/"><em>No More Heroes</em></a> composer Masafumi Takada mentioned in his <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/21/gdc08-takada-writing-game-music-is-my-mission/">GDC talk</a> that a remix album of music from the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/30/wii-fanboy-review-no-more-heroes/">game</a> would soon be available from <a href="https://freeville.serversecured.net/~grass8/cgi-bin/ghmshopr/top.html">Grasshopper Manufacture's online store</a>. We now have details of that album, called <em>No More Heroes Sound Tracks: Dark Side -- </em>as well as its burning-Santa-Destroy-flag cover<em>.</em> <br /><br />The album contains 9 tracks remixed by artists including Takada himself, Game Boy chiptune master <a href="http://robotandproud.com/6955/">6955</a> and <em>Metal Gear Solid'</em>s <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norihiko_Hibino">Norihiko Hibino</a>. It'll sell for 2,100 yen ($20) when it releases on March 14th. We suspect awesomeness, even though there are only nine tracks on the disc. We're going to have to figure out how to get Grasshopper's online store to ship stuff to us!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/04/no-more-heroes-remix-album-approaches/">No More Heroes remix album approaches</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Mar 2008 17:00:00 EST. CONFIRMED: <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/09/vc-friday-straightforward-killing/">Namco Museum Remix</a></em> continues to be insane. Not that we expected them to, but Namco did <em>not</em> go back and change <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galaga">Galaga</a></em> back to regular <em>Galaga.</em> We are still living in a world where a description of <em>Galaga </em>can include the phrase "Pac-Man rolls on a tube in outer space." <br /><br />This is the "new" <em>Galaga</em> in which, instead of shooting from a ship at the bottom of the screen, you shoot the alien ships by pointing and shooting at them with the Wiimote, shooting-gallery style, and you can also use the analog stick to make Pac-Man jump.<br /><br /><em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rally-X">Rally-X</a> </em>was still <em>Rally-X</em>, but with speed boosting, which seems like an okay addition. These were still the only two playable games, so we'll have to wait to see how Namco is <strike>ru</strike><strike>ining</strike> updating the rest of their classics.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/13/e307-namco-museum-remix-is-still-weird/">E307: Namco Museum Remix is still weird</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Jul 2007 15:35:00 EST. A musical score is now a critical component of game design, and the big names in gaming are some of the most forward-thinking pioneers in the musical world today.<br /><br />Most classic Nintendo themes have been crafted by the well-known <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/kondo">Koji Kondo</a>, but Nintendo's consoles have been host to dozens upon dozens of brilliant composers. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wwu">So</a>, who's your favorite? There's a <em>ridiculous</em> list composing for <em>Super Smash Bros. Brawl</em>, found <a href="http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music01.html">here</a> (which interestingly omits the famed Nobuo Uematsu, who already composed the game's title theme). Which names stand your hair on end?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/19/wii-warm-up-composure/">Wii Warm Up: Composure</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Jun 2007 09:00:00 EST. <div align="left">Game|Life's Chris Kohler played the wacky reinterpretation of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/09/vc-friday-straightforward-killing/"><em>Galaga</em></a> found on the new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/18/namco-goes-insane-after-too-many-namco-museum-releases/"><em>Namco Museum Remix</em></a>, and somehow came out of it cogent enough to describe the surreal experience. Basically, Pac-Man is rolling down a slide in space, <em>for some reason</em>, and players have to protect him by shooting the Galaga ships that come down to attack him <em>for some reason</em>. You aim at the little ships with the Wiimote pointer. If <a href="http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2006/08/column_parallax_memories_galag.php"><em>Galaga '88</em></a> was Galactic Dancing, this is Galactic-- okay, we don't know what it is. We're still pretty confused about the whole idea.<br /></div>
</div>
<br />Kohler also played <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rally-X"><em>Rally-X</em></a>, which was basically a 3D remake of the original arcade game (which itself is basically <em>Pac-Man</em>). While <em>Galaga </em>is rife with Wiimote integration, <em>Rally-X</em> is more staid and relies on the analog stick and shoulder buttons.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/18/namco-museum-remix-galaga-rally-x-details/">Namco Museum Remix: Galaga, Rally-X details</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 18 Jun 2007 13:00:00 EST. The major complaint about Namco's <a href="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/103-2204069-1167800?url=search-alias%3Daps&amp;field-keywords=namco+museum&amp;Go.x=0&amp;Go.y=0&amp;Go=Go"><em>Museum</em> series</a> of retro compilations is that they're just <em>too faithful</em> to their arcade counterparts. People don't want exact arcade translations anymore, they want games remade unrecognizably in 3D! They want Pac-Man randomly inserted into every game!<br /><br />At least, that seems to be Namco Bandai's thinking. Either that or they weren't sure how else to rerelease <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/14/vc-monday-madness-more-ninja-than-you-can-shake-a-shuriken-at/">games</a> they're already <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/09/vc-friday-straightforward-killing/">selling</a> on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/virtual-console">Virtual Console</a>. The result is <em>Namco Museum Remix</em>, a set of Namco classics, now with more waggle, depth, and Pac! The remixed games include <em>Galaga, Pac-Motos, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rally-X">Rally-X</a>, Gator Panic, </em>and <em>Pac 'n Roll</em>, which is apparently a classic now despite not even being two years old. For that matter, <em>Gator Panic</em> seems to be based on a <a href="http://mobilegamefaqs.com/gameinfo.php?id=139&amp;name=Gator+Panic">cell phone game</a> which is itself based on the Whack-a-Mole like redemption game, and we have no idea what <em>Pac-Motos</em> was originally. Interesting what passes for "classics" these days!<br /><br />In addition to the remixes, the collection includes <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cutie_Q">Cutie Q</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dig_Dug">Dig Dug</a>, Galaxian, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaplus">Gaplus</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mappy">Mappy</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pac_%26_Pal">Pac &amp; Pal</a>, Pac-Mania,<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Pac-Man"> Super Pac-Man</a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Xevious/">Xevious</a>. We poke fun at Namco for selling the same games over and over again, but this is an okay selection of somewhat less common stuff! Sorry to everyone who bought NES <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/12/vc-friday-lackluster-week-for-downloadable-games/"><em>Xevious </em></a>on the Virtual Console.<br /><br />Check out our gallery of screens from the remixed games. There's something delightful about these minute-long loops that stay stuck in our heads like an attractive girl we saw in passing.<br /><br />Electro-experimental group ROBOTOBOTS chopped up the music tracks and added its own flavor to the interface themes. The resulting three songs -- <em>Breaking Points</em>, <em>Revolve Around Planets</em>, and <em>Built to Diistroy</em> -- are just as fetching as the original tunes, albeit more complex and not as light-hearted. We wouldn't mind listening to these reinterpreted tracks in place of Nintendo's pieces, were it possible. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://nintendogal.com/index.php?/archives/1499-Wii-Channels-Remixed-Into-Songs.html">Nintendogal</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/02/wii-music-remix-ft-robotobots/">Wii Music (Remix) ft. If there's one thing we love, it's retro tracks brought back for another round. That's why we're featuring a medley of songs from the original <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zelda">Zelda</a></em> game (NES) remixed by electronica musician Ochre, for your Sunday listening pleasure. <br /><br />We imagine that trying to add anything on top of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/kojikondo">Koji Kondo's</a> classic work without ruining it is a difficult task, but this arrangement doesn't miss a step. Ochre's interpretation blends the 8-bit pieces with his own playful style, taking the listener through a six-minute daydream of Link's adventures. If you're a fan of lush synths and summery rhythms, we definitely suggest downloading this song along with Ochre's other remixes and original offerings at his site.</p>

All we see is some guy waving his arms in the air (like he just doesn't care) while the computer drops some funky beats. Supposedly, the Wii controllers in his hands are actually activating the various looping samples, but we can't make hide nor hair of which motions are supposed to do what, even with the helpful descriptive text on the video.</p>
<p>If this is a fake, though, it's an extremely elaborate one. The video's maker, <a href="http://wiijdj.com/pg004.html">DJ Shift 1</a> has set up an <a href="http://wiijdj.com/">elaborate web page</a> page that lays out the fundamentals of his <a href="http://wiijdj.com/pg015.html">patented</a> technique. The WiiJaying master is also promoting his first live performance of his at <a href="http://www.bootiesf.com/">Bootie San Francisco</a> on May 12. Now that's devotion to a hack.</p>

Wow. We <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/06/halo-3-ad-its-a-mad-ring-world/">asked</a> for <span style="font-style: italic;">Halo 3</span> ad remixes earlier today, and we already have our first one. Frankly, this one is going to be hard to top. Set to the theme song from <span style="font-style: italic;">Team America: World Police</span>, it's about as good as it gets. Props to the creator for maintaining all of the dialogue and sound effects, too. Check out the video after the break (lyrics NSFW).<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/06/h3-ad-remix-its-halo-3-f-ck-yeah/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>H3 ad remix: It's Halo 3, f*ck yeah ... But, fanboys don't get too pleased either when a game makes the transition from PSP to PS2. Not too many games have done it in the past, but it appears that the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/mercury/"><em>Mercury Meltdown</em></a> will also be getting a PS2 rendition, joining other titles such as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/30/lumines-live-like-a-psp-without-the-portability/"><em>Lumines</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/01/05/more-grand-theft-auto-speeding-onto-the-psp/"><em>Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories</em></a>, and the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2005/12/07/metareview-tokobot-psp/"><em>Tokobot</em></a>. The PS2 version will not feature any enhancements, except for the ability to use the second analog stick to control the problematic camera. The PS2 version will come out one month after the PSP version, which comes out <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000GEA190/prey0f?creative=0&amp;camp=0&amp;adid=1HD9RD5W4WEWWZ3FSZ67&amp;link_code=as1">in October</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6157758.html?part=rss&amp;tag=gs_news&amp;subj=6157758">Gamespot</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/16/mercury-meltown-sliding-onto-ps2/">Mercury Meltown sliding onto PS2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 16 Sep 2006 09:00:00 EST.
