<br />
Blacksmith and propmaster Tony Swatton documents the creation of a replica <i>Final Fantasy VII</i> Buster Sword in the latest episode of the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/AweMeChannel">Man at Arms</a> web series. Cloud Strife himself would be proud of the results.<br />
<br />
This isn't some cardboard-and-foil job that you'd see at an anime convention; the finished product weighs around 80 pounds, and Swatton burned up three portable drills during its assembly. Swatton proves the sword's impracticality by "wrecking" his back and arm while attempting to wield it, but stick around until the end to see the blade taste the flesh of unsuspecting soda bottles and fresh produce.<br />
<br />
Swatton previously produced replicas of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNZRmvELxXM"><i>Minecraft</i>'s diamond sword</a> and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPH8Pe5G1p0">the <i>Kingdom Hearts</i> keyblade</a>, among other bladed bits of nerdery.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/man-at-arms-builds-80-pound-replica-of-final-fantasy-viis-buste/">Man at Arms builds 80-pound replica of Final Fantasy VII's Buster Sword</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 May 2013 21:30:00 EST. Costco UK is <a href="http://www.costco.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/cos_1,cos_1.2,cos_1.2.4/140490">selling</a> an <a href="http://www.fmcginternational.com/">FMCG International</a> F1 racing simulator for &pound;89,999.89 (including delivery and installation!), or $138,338.83, which is still significantly cheaper than owning an actual Formula 1 car. We also assume it's probably a <em>tiny</em> bit safer and easier to maintain, but that's just a hunch.<br />
<br />
The body is available in "your own choice of colour" and is made out of various combinations of composite materials, alloys and carbon fiber, with real wheels, tyres, chromed-out exhaust tips and <em>everything</em>. There's no engine or transmission, obviously, but it does come with one of those totally awesome detachable steering wheels.<br />
<br />
The gaming portion of the rig is powered by an Intel Core i7, an SSD of unknown capacity, 16 gigs of RAM and a non-specified graphics card outputting to three 23-inch adjustable TFT monitors. Meanwhile, sweet jams are pumped through a 5.1 audio system into both the car's body <em>and</em> your body, since the subwoofer is located directly behind the driver's seat.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/18/costco-uk-selling-full-size-f1-simulator-for-just-90-000/">Costco UK selling full-size F1 simulator for just £90,000</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 18 May 2013 13:30:00 EST. <div>BioWare has just revealed <a href="http://biowarestore.com/m-77-paladin-pistol-replica-deposit.html">this snazzy real-life replica version</a> of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/mass-effect-3"><em>Mass Effect 3</em></a>'s M-77 Paladin pistol, available for pre-order today. The weapon weighs 7 pounds, is hand-finished and hand-painted, and is one of a set of only 200 made by collectible firm <a href="http://www.projecttriforce.com/">Triforce</a>.<br />
<br />
Buying one for yourself will run you a total of $400: You'll need to put down $200 now to reserve your own fake space gun, and then another $200 when it's ready to go, which is expected to be later this year. That's not cheap, but then again <em>nobody said</em> fighting off the Reaper Invasion would be.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/08/limited-edition-mass-effect-3-paladin-pistol-replica-available-f/">Limited edition Mass Effect 3 Paladin pistol replica available for pre-order</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 May 2013 22:30:00 EST. Warm fuzzies <em>and </em>a new toy.<br /><br />Valve signed a replica Portal gun for the <a href="http://gamesartandmusic.com/">Games Art and Music</a> charity event in Florida, and now that the show is over, GAAM is auctioning it off on <a href="http://www.ebay.com/itm/281041570342?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&amp;_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649">Ebay</a>, with all of the funds benefiting Child's Play Charity. It's like helping two charities in one go.<br /><br />The Ebay auction started off strong, but because of some technical issues, it was reset and now needs to make up some ground to reach its previous peak. The auction ends tomorrow, December 28, at 10:37 a.m. PST. If you have a pure heart and an empty space on your mantel, this bidding war might be for you.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/27/replica-portal-gun-signed-by-valve-and-auctioned-on-ebay-for-cha/">Replica Portal gun signed by Valve and auctioned on Ebay for charity</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 Dec 2012 22:00:00 EST. The replica is estimated to ship in June 2013 for $350, and can be pre-ordered with a hefty $100 deposit on the <a href="http://biowarestore.com/sovereign-reaper-ship-replica-deposit.html">BioWare store</a>.<br /><br />The Reaper statue is in limited production, with fewer than 1,000 being made. Many a night have been spent fantasizing about somehow owning our own without taking out a second mortgage, and now the dream can finally become a reality.<br /><br />Well, not <em>now</em> now, but in a few months. NECA Toys is developing a line of licensed Valve products that include <em>Team Fortress 2</em>, <em>Half Life</em> and <em>Left 4 Dead 2</em> action figures, but the crowning jewel of the series is NECA's one-to-one scale ASHPD replica. <em>It lights up and everything</em>. The device should be available somewhere around May or June of this year and retail for $130, according a brief video interview with NECA's Randy Falk at <a href="http://www.theverge.com/2012/2/23/2819423/toy-fair-2012-overview-video">The Verge</a>. If there's two things Joystiq is all about, it's antiquated puppet technology and indie-development studios, so naturally <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-gunstringer"><em>The Gunstringer</em></a> tickled our fancy in an incredibly specific, thoroughly satisfying way. Had we known that Twisted Pixel would soon be releasing its own Gunstringer Mini Marionettes, however, we probably wouldn't have spent all last week building our own out of clothes pins and yarn.<br />
<br />
The 16-inch Gunstringer Mini Marionette, available to pre-order on <a href="http://www.twistedpixelgames.com/store.htm">Twisted Pixel's site</a>, is a replica of the marionette seen in the western's FMV sequences, will set you back $100 ($110 for an autographed version), and is expected to exit pre-order status before the end of November. Shoot past the break for a full look at the little guy's prototype.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/08/pre-order-your-own-gunstringer-mini-marionette/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pre-order your own Gunstringer Mini Marionette</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/08/pre-order-your-own-gunstringer-mini-marionette/">Pre-order your own Gunstringer Mini Marionette</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 08 Oct 2011 17:30:00 EST. You've wanted one ever since seeing it in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/24/bioshock-2-sea-of-dreams-trailer-in-hd-destined-for-360-ps3/">very first trailer</a> for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bioshock-2"><em>BioShock 2</em></a>. You even have one <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/offers/022f0009-0000-4000-8000-00005454082d?cid=SLink">for your Xbox Avatar</a>. Now you can buy a <em>real</em>, official replica of the cuddly "hand-made" Big Daddy plush doll that's featured in the game. <br />
<br />
Toymaker NECA has <a href="http://www.necaonline.com/article/detail/289">announced</a> that the collectible is now available for $20 from <a href="http://www.entertainmentearth.com/hitlist.asp?searchfield=bioshock&amp;eeshop=&amp;x=0&amp;y=0">various</a> <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fb%3Fie%3DUTF8%26node%3D602179011&amp;tag=wwwnecaonline-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325">retailers</a>, along with a <em>highly detailed</em>, 8" replica of an EVE syringe* ($16) that lights up blue when you push in its plunger. We realize these items are but a small consolation for 2K deciding not to release <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/02/2k-unboxes-the-extremely-rare-15-000-version-of-bioshock-2/">the $15,000 "&Uuml;ber Edition" of the game</a>, but you have to admit they're <em>pretty darn cool</em>.<br />

YouTube user <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/ProfessorGigaton">ProfessorGigaton</a> has a pair of videos showing off his latest diabolical creation: a life-size model of <em>Fallout 3</em>'s Railway Rifle. If you're inclined to take on the project yourself, one of the videos features a full <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLZsd7WYVHg">tutorial</a> to help you create your very own non-working replica. Lazy, like us? The <em>supposed</em> professor -- we're waiting on his school transcripts -- is also selling the model featured in the videos on <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=330389058873&amp;ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT">eBay</a>. The starting bid is $45, and it's sure to look great with your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Fallout-3/"><em>Fallout 3</em></a>-inspired cosplay ... and will definitely come in handy in the post-apocalyptic world of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012">2012</a>.<br />

This seems like one of those things that, when a Sony representative sees it, it elicits a sharp forehead smack, accompanied by the following exclamation: "Why didn't I think of that?" A clever eBay user known as "thegroovygamer" recently put a lovingly crafted <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> pod replica <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=140337195617&amp;ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT">on the virtual auction block</a>. Of course, it wouldn't be an <em>exact</em> replica without two additional items: A DualShock 3 controller, and a little Sackboy to inhabit it.<br /><br />We would have bought an armful of these bundles had Sony released them in the thick of <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> fever last fall. Oh, heck -- we'd buy an armful now. Just throw in a few sticker sheets, and we'll get out our checkbooks.<br /><br />[Thanks, Corey!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/04/littlebigplanet-pod-replica-making-ebay-a-bit-more-adorable/">LittleBigPlanet pod replica making eBay a bit more adorable</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Aug 2009 12:30:00 EST. <div align="left">Kratos will be out in full force at Comic-Con this week. Not only will attendees be able to get hands on with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/god-of-war-iii"><em>God of War III</em></a>, but they'll also be able to grab a signed poster featuring artwork from the upcoming <em>God of War III</em> <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/07/15/dc-comics-to-offer-god-of-war-mini-series-this-october/">comic book series</a>. Check out the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/07/22/god-of-war-iii-at-comic-con-plus-blades-of-chaos-replica/">PlayStation Blog</a> to find out when and where the signings will be taking place.<br /><br />In other non-Comic-Con-but-still-<em>God-Of-War</em> news, that blade you see above is a real piece of merchandising. It's a replica Blade of Chaos -- as if you didn't already know -- and it's being manufactured by United Cutlery. The blade section alone is longer than a 30cm ruler and you can pre-order one at <a href="http://budk.com/product.asp?pn=43+UC2665&amp;sid=GOW&amp;eid=GOW2009">BUDK</a>. It's pretty reasonably priced (you know, for a <em>sword</em>) at $124, and it even comes with the snazzy display stand. Only problem is it's pretty useless without a second Blade of Chaos to make a pair. That's how they getcha.</div>

After wowing us with his <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/how-to-make-a-portal-gun-replica-hint-its-not-easy/"><em>Portal</em> "gun" replica</a>, Harrison Krix is at it again -- this time tackling the world of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/BioShock/">BioShock</a></em>. His latest in-game item replica is the <a href="http://volpinprops.blogspot.com/2009/02/bioshock-little-sister-adam-syringe.html">ADAM Syringe</a>, used by the Little Sisters who roam the world of Rapture. We sat down with Harrison to discuss his work, reactions from video game companies and what he would build if money and time were no object.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bioshock-adam-syringe-replica/">BioShock: ADAM Syringe Replica</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bioshock-adam-syringe-replica/#1388923"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/3271762471_10e860a764_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bioshock-adam-syringe-replica/#1388942"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/3271762935_5362174f50_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bioshock-adam-syringe-replica/#1388927"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/3272583082_f25b1bb618_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bioshock-adam-syringe-replica/#1388933"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/3272583350_74fb839767_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bioshock-adam-syringe-replica/#1388943"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/3272583668_9088f599f5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/26/joystiq-interview-harrison-krix-video-game-replica-designer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq Interview: Harrison Krix, replica designer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/26/joystiq-interview-harrison-krix-video-game-replica-designer/">Joystiq Interview: Harrison Krix, replica designer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Feb 2009 19:01:00 EST. A fistful of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy"><em>Final Fantasy</em></a> counterfeiters recently found their hit points squelched by a summon of the judicial kind. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/square-enix">Square Enix</a> announced that it reached a settlement in its federal lawsuit against "at least" four online retailers of unlicensed <em>Final Fantasy</em> knock-offs, primarily sword replicas, netting the role-playing giant a hefty 600,000 <strike>gil</strike> dollar judgment. <br /><br />Traffickers, which included Edgework Imports, Top Swords, Wholesale Gallery and Pacific Solutions Marketing, are barred from dealing in <em>Final Fantasy</em> fakery, either through their own stores or other online sites such as eBay or Amazon. <br /><br />Obviously shaken, the defendants issued a joint statement that they "regret" selling copies to customers, and "would not have begun importing and selling these swords if we knew that Square Enix would respond so aggressively to stop us. We will never make this mistake again." Translation: We knew what we were doing was wrong, we just didn't, you know, think Square Enix would <em>do</em> <em>anything</em> about it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/25/square-enix-hits-final-fantasy-replica-dealers-for-600-000-in-d/">Square Enix hits Final Fantasy replica dealers for $600,000 in damage</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Feb 2009 06:00:00 EST. If so, we recommend getting in touch with <a href="http://www.cosplay.com/photo/1386669/">Cosplay.com</a> member "featherweight," who meticulously crafted the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3">Halo</a> </em>Battle Rifle seen above. We've <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/02/really-real-and-wearable-halo-3-recon-helmet/">reported before</a> on real-world <em>Halo</em> creations, but this one certainly takes the cake. Being about as accurate as a fake energy sword can possibly be, <a href="http://www.trueswords.com/covenant-energy-sword-video-game-sword-replica-type1-p-4030.html">this replica recreation</a> actually has real blades, though the extent of their sharpness isn't exactly detailed on the website. The tempered steel sword looks to be perfect for all the live action role-players out there looking to step up their fantasies a notch and get rid of their homemade <em>cardboard</em> plasma swords. Strangest of all, the thing's base price is less than that of a full priced 360 game ...<br /><br />[Thanks Vinny]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/29/replica-energy-sword-for-all-your-larping-needs/">Replica Energy Sword for all your LARPing needs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 29 Jun 2008 21:30:00 EST. While the themed coverage will continue through Sunday, this is the last of our week long edition of Show and Tell. We're as sad as you are, and we didn't even get through everyone's submissions! If you didn't see your stuff featured here, don't fret -- we'll continue to take our weekly look at your gaming gear, and so there's still plenty of chances for us to revisit some of this week's submissions.<br /><br />As for today's edition, we wanted to focus on the biggest and the best -- and that means collections. Some of you had some really nice sets of <em>Zelda</em> gear, and this day's for you. Check out the gallery below to see everything, including half of reader Kimya's collection. Yes, half -- the other half is back home in Spain, but she has a <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimya/sets/72157600161793020/">Flickr set</a> she keeps adding things to as well. The replicas are being cast by Master Replicas (who've previously created <em>Star Wars</em> and <em>Pirates of the Caribbean</em> merchandise) and will come in two delicious flavors; the <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=322284">Carbine</a> and the <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=322285">Battle Rifle</a>. Both replicas are preorderable over at Gamestop for $19.99 each, but no other details are available. Though, Achievement Junkie seems to have unearthed pictures of the replicas, but we can't be sure if they are prototypes and we certainly can't tell their scale. But if these bad boys are decently sized and the craftsmanship is there, we'll definitely put down $20 so our Master Chief <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/21/up-close-and-personal-with-the-legendary-helmet/">helmet</a> doesn't feel so alone.<br /><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://www.gamestooge.com">Jonah Falcon</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/20/halo-3-weapon-replicas-available-for-preorder/">Halo 3 weapon replicas available for preorder</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Jun 2007 14:00:00 EST. The massive wooden replica is eight feet wide, three feet high, three feet deep, and weighs over 400 pounds ... and that's <em>without</em> a game cart or controller. With those specs, it clocks in only slightly larger than the original Xbox, or the 360's power brick. <br /><br />A mysterious crafstman, who posts on NESforums.net as Nationalgamedepot, originally built the NES as a bed but now plans on using it as an entertainment center. Hopefully he'll take orders, because this looks spiffy. Plus, if you get yourself a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2005/05/11/play-classic-nintendo-games-on-humongous-controller/">giant NES controller</a>, you've got a complete set. Miniaturization be damned.<br /><br />[Thanks, Dignan17]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/02/megaginormous-nes-replica-dwarfs-competition/">Megaginormous NES replica dwarfs competition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 02 Oct 2006 22:45:00 EST.
