Resident Evil 4 HD and RE: Code Veronica X HD infect the US this September

Fresh news out of Comic-Con for zombie hunters and presidential-daughter-babysitting-simulator enthusiasts alike: the previously announced HD remakes of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica X will be shambling and moaning onto US shores this September.

RE4HD lands on September 20, with Code Veronica X HD's charmingly incomprehensible plot following a week later on September 27. That's a few weeks after the far superior Japanese launch, not that we're bitter or anything. Both titles will be available at your local brick & mortar, through the PlayStation Network and as Xbox Live Games On Demand titles.

Resident Evil: Code Veronica X HD Achievements revealed

You've probably played Resident Evil: Code Veronica before. You might have played it on the Dreamcast, or the PS2. Heck, even the GameCube got in on the action. Those versions of the game, however, were all built on inferior technology and, this fall, Code Veronica X HD will raise the bar to a completely new level.

No, we're not talking about high definition visuals, we're talking about Achievements. Thanks to its status as a Games on Demand title, the Xbox 360 download of Code Veronica will receive the benefit of a full 1000 gamerscore. Most of the cheevos are story-driven, so it should be an easy bag of points.

Now, if only modern technology could do something about Steve...

Albert Wesker presents: The Resident Evil 15th anniversary trailer

In the words of Wesker himself, nobody could have ever predicted "it" would spread so fast. We assume he's referring to the Resident Evil franchise, which will see five (five) different releases this year. See footage of them all in the Resident Evil 15th anniversary trailer after the break.

One thing to note: Both Code: Veronica X HD and Resident Evil 4 HD are promoted with the Xbox Live "Games on Demand" logo beneath their titles (as opposed to the Xbox Live Arcade logo). It's possible that Capcom is opting to distribute the titles under the Games on Demand platform in North America (where they will be download-only) in order to bypass the 2GB size limit placed on XBLA titles.

Resident Evil 4, Code Veronica HD ports coming to NA as downloads this fall

If you're interested in the HD versions of Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica X included in the Resident Evil: Revival Selection, you'll be able to acquire them in an exceptionally convenient manner: through Xbox Live Arcade and PSN.

Capcom just announced that the two ports will be released as downloads in North America this fall -- as separate games, as opposed to the bundled release Capcom is planning for Japan. Check out more screens of the HD version of Resident Evil 4 in our gallery. Or just check out the logos for both games. Seriously. Look at those logos.
