Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles trailer makes a mess of your browser

Remember that awesome ad starring Wario from back in the ought eight? Well, Capcom's taken a page straight out of The Big N's playbook and offered up an interactive Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles trailer over at GameTrailers. The trailer doesn't shake things up like Wario did, but it does make a comparable mess. If you've got children in the computer room or folks who cringe at that one scene in The Shining (you know, that one), then you may want to escort them out of the room before clicking through.

...

Done? Good. Now go enjoy yourself some zombie de-faceification.

New Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles trailer

Capcom has dropped the final Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles trailer, leading up to the game's November 17 release. Rather than shower us with gameplay -- though there is some in there -- Capcom has opted to give gamers plenty of CG and lots of corny text. For example, did you know that Darkside Chronicles will "make your pulse race" and is "a terrifying gun shooting experience?" Well, it is, so you'd best deal with it.

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles cubecraft is sharp around the edges

If your fascination with the characters of the Resident Evil universe extends beyond the confines of each game, then you may like to know that Cubeecraft and Capcom Europe have teamed up to offer some papercraft versions of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles characters. With little more than a printer, some paper and the ability to fold strategically, you can make miniaturized and highly flammable versions of your favorite characters, perfect for reenacting scenes from the games. Well, unless your favorite character is Steve Burnside. He's nowhere to be found, which may or may not be a really good thing.

Japanese gamers get Darkside Chronicles collector's pack

While the rest of the world will be shooting zombies next month, Japanese gamers are forced to wait until early next year for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles to be released. But it isn't all bad news for our Far East brothers and sisters: Japanese gamers will have the opportunity to purchase a special collector's edition of the game.

According to Siliconera, the collector's edition includes a soundtrack CD labeled Darkside Symphony, a promotional DVD, a (sweet, we guess) reversible cover and the game for 8,390¥ ($91 USD). Also, in the seemingly never-ending world of preorder bonuses, Japanese gamers willing to throw a deposit down for the game will nab a detailed character booklet called the Darkside Report.

No zombie shirt? We win.

Capcom shambles to the Toronto Zombie Walk

First: Toronto has an annual Zombie Walk? How cool is that? Anyhway, in order to promote Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, Capcom will have a presence at this year's brain-munching jamboree, which takes place on Saturday, October 24. The company will have a tent at the event, giving people free zombie makeovers. We presume Capcom will do this with makeup and not by doling out actual zombie bites. Capcom has also sponsored a series of rather disturbing ads for the event, one of which you will find after the break. Warning: It's gross.

Game Crazy offers money clip for Darkside Chronicles pre-orders

With any other game, a novelty money clip, like the one Game Crazy is offering with Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles , would be quite an enticing bonus. But when pre-ordering across the street at GameStop will net you a T-shirt that turns you into a zombie, it takes a bit of the shine off the apple, doesn't it?

Also, that Raccoon Police clip has the potential to start some uncomfortable conversations in the real world. Are you really ready for people to ask you if the Raccoon Police's jurisdiction extends beyond figuring out who tipped over neighborhood trash cans, or how you got your uniform over your bushy, striped tail? No, we didn't think so.

TGS 2009: The Recap Post

Last week, the Tokyo Game Show brought in over 100 posts worth of news, previews, interviews, galleries, and videos. Clearly, a lot happened. If you're looking for a comprehensive list of all the goings-on during TGS 2009, Joystiq has you covered -- and organized!

Hands-on: Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles

If there's one thing to be thankful for in the face of Capcom's steady stream of Resident Evil games, it's that we've all been given a fairly comprehensive education on the undead blight. We can see a zombie coming a mile away, which presents an odd sense of frustration when the game's own characters fail to do the same. No, that person isn't sick. It's a zombie and it's going to bite your neck off. Just shoot it!

The Darkside Chronicles, an instantly familiar follow-up to the Wii's Umbrella Chronicles, often hesitates to pull the trigger. It takes a leisurely stroll when least appropriate and it's slow to react when things do get exciting. You might think that your friends Survival-Horror and On-Rails Shooter would get along just fine, but leave them both in the room while you go to the toilet and it's just awkward silence.

TGS 2009: Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles heads to South America

Capcom has unloaded a truckload of new media onto TGS attendees for upcoming Wii point-n-shooter Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, featuring a new, South American chapter. Leon Kennedy and RE4 bad guy (and Prototype, uh, prototype) Jack Krauser form an unlikely team for the side story. As if that wasn't enough to purple nurple the most diehard of Resident Evil fans, there's some re-imagining of elements from Code Veronica sprinkled into the new game as well.

After you've digested the video above, shoot past the break for another, and if you're looking for something a bit less moving, head into our gallery below. Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is scheduled for release on November 17.

Capcom announces release date for Resident Evil T-shirt, also Darkside Chronicles

Once a Comic-Con exclusive, the fan-tastic Resident Evil zombie face T-shirt that is GameStop's pre-order bonus for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is being released on November 17. Oh, and so is the game. (Darkside Chronicles, that is -- not a game based on the shirt, although that would be ... interesting.)

OK, so back to the T-shirt. Capcom's also making it available via its online store for $24.95. Of course, for just $25.04 more you can get the shirt and the game, which we guess you could play when you're not freaking people the eff out in your awesome shirt.

Europe gets Darkside Chronicles Zapper bundle Nov. 27, no zombie T-shirt

Dear European Readers, we're pleased to inform you that you'll be getting Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles on November 27. Heck, you're even getting a special bundle that includes the game and a Wii Zapper. We regret to inform you, however, that you won't be getting a Resident Evil zombie face T-shirt that can double as a Halloween (you have that there, right?) costume, in addition to being incredibly awesome.

If you're reading this in the US, don't be jealous of our overseas friends' plastic, gun-like shell. We have The Shirt. We can also buy the Resident Evil Shot Blaster, which eats Zappers for breakfast. (But is, unluckily for it, one step down the food chain from the Shark Gun.)

GameStop offers Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles shirt with pre-order

Forget every negative thing we've ever said about GameStop. That company is made up entirely of heroes. Why? Because when you pre-order Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles from GameStop, you'll receive the formerly Comic-Con exclusive zombie face t-shirt. We're just ... so relieved to be able to get one of these -- we thought the opportunity had passed.

Sure, this is probably more Capcom's doing than GameStop's, but we get to love Capcom all the time. We're giving GameStop a chance today.

We really like that shirt.

[Thanks, Matthew!]

Capcom reveals the outside packaging for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles

The North American box art for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, as posted on Capcom-Unity today, is very blue. We suspect its overwhelming, vivid blueness will draw attention from retail shoppers.

Once they focus more on the luminous blue object on the shelf, they'll see Leon Kennedy (last seen holding a gun in a somewhat different position on the RE4 Wii Edition box) and Claire Redfield in the front, and Code Veronica's Steve Burnside (who may as well be Leon) and ... some guy in the background. Also, zombies.

See the full box art after the break!

That's a wrap: Comic-Con 2009

Last week's San Diego Comic-Con was one crazy ride. The Joystiq representatives in attendance were trained in advanced interrogation tactics and managed to extract information on a variety of subjects. We've got an update from Peter Jackson himself on the Halo happenings, first footage of South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play! and a new game mode for Uncharted 2! Friend, you missed one heck of a week.

But, that's okay! You can get caught up right here, right now. Simply head past the break for a complete summary of all the headlines.

Comic-Con 2009: Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles videos shamble forth

Capcom has come out in full force for Comic-Con 2009 and brought along with it several new juicy tidbits to savor for each of its upcoming games. In this post, we're highlighting a pair of new gameplay trailers for upcoming Wii sequel Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. The first bit of footage above focuses on Leon and Claire's time in the Raccoon City police station as they gun down everything in sight, while the second video (after the break) showcases Claire and her young companion, Steve, navigating the dark halls and disgusting enemies of Rockfort Island. Enjoy!
