Sony promises "many of you" will have the opportunity to participate in the beta. The enrollment form consists of simple questions, such as "Which LittleBigPlanet games have you played before?" and asks if you've created levels in any of the LittleBigPlanet titles.<br /><br />It also asks, "Do you own a PS Vita?" For those looking to get in the Vita beta, we think that may be the only question with a wrong answer.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/09/littlebigplanet-vita-beta-now-accepting-applications/">LittleBigPlanet Vita beta now accepting applications</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 May 2012 19:45:00 EST. Media Molecule is doing its part for the <a href="http://playforjapan.org/">Play for Japan</a> campaign, auctioning off a <a href="http://www.mediamolecule.com/blog/article/play_for_japan_own_a_piece_of_littlebigplanet_history_or_buy_royalty/">few rare pieces</a> of original concept art for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/littlebigplanet">LittleBigPlanet</a></em>, along with signed copies of its sequel. There are four sketches up for grabs on the auction block, each of which show the evolution and development of the franchise's floppy, stitched protagonist, Sackboy. Each piece comes with a copy of <em>LBP2</em> with an extremely limited edition cover slip signed by the entire Media Molecule team.<br />
<br />
Bidders can also try to grab a super rare, in-game crown costume piece for their Sackperson -- a prize usually only distributed as prizes for Media Molecule contests. If you'd like to get involved and grab a piece of <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> history in the process, check out <a href="http://shop.ebay.com/mediamolecule/m.html?_nkw=&amp;_armrs=1&amp;_from=&amp;_ipg=&amp;_trksid=p3686">Media Molecule's eBay page</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/28/media-molecule-auctioning-original-littlebigplanet-art-for-japan/">Media Molecule auctioning original LittleBigPlanet art for Japan relief</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 Mar 2011 12:30:00 EST. We know that Sackboy dominates whole worlds in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a>, but he's always stayed in the present, content to steal our dreams in modern times. We worry that may be about to change though, as the Australian Classification Board has rated "Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves" for release. <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2010/11/10/sackboys-prehistoric-moves-being-made-playstation-move/">Siliconera</a> shrewdly theorizes this will be a Move-centric release, thanks to the title and Media Molecule's development partner for the project, Supermassive (the house behind <em>Start the Party</em> and <em>Tumble</em>).<br />
<br />
We're happy to see Sackboy branching out, but why would Media Molecule release yet another game when <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/littlebigplanet-2"><em>LittleBigPlanet 2</em></a> is already <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/02/littlebigplanet-2-beta-takes-to-the-skies/">all of</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/20/hey-you-got-portal-in-my-littlebigplanet-2/">the</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/17/pac-man-micro-machines-air-hockey-created-in-littlebigplanet-2/">games</a></em>? What sense does that make?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/10/australian-board-rates-possible-littlebigplanet-spinoff/">Australian board rates possible LittleBigPlanet spinoff</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 10 Nov 2010 21:31:00 EST. The PlayStation blog has <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/10/29/littlebigplanet-2-new-sackbot-featurette-trailer/">posted a featurette on Sackbots</a>, which are little AI versions of <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/littlebigplanet-2">LittleBigPlanet 2</a>'</em>s Sackboy (or girl). Sackbots allow you to add a lot more movement and intelligence to characters in <em>LBP2</em>'s levels -- you can set them up to follow Sackboy around, interact with the environment, or, as the video shows, teach them to <em>dance</em>.<br />
<br />
And honestly, we're a little bit more excited about that last option. Yeah, it's nice to set up <em>Lemmings</em>-style puzzles or command an army of cute little blockheaded robots. But sometimes you just need backup for a dance party.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/30/littlebigplanet-2s-sackbots-are-ready-to-do-your-bidding/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LittleBigPlanet 2's Sackbots are ready to do your bidding</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/30/littlebigplanet-2s-sackbots-are-ready-to-do-your-bidding/">LittleBigPlanet 2's Sackbots are ready to do your bidding</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 30 Oct 2010 17:30:00 EST. It seems United Front Games is taking more than just inspiration from Media Molecule for their upcoming "Play, Create, Share" racer. In fact, it seems to have actually kidnapped the star of <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> and made him bonus DLC for the PS3 version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modnation-racers"><em>ModNation Racers</em></a>.<br />
<br />
According to the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/04/27/modnation-racers-mystery-mods-revealed/">PlayStation.Blog</a>, early copies of the game (marked with a special sticker) will include a code that unlocks Sackboy as a playable racer. Both pre-ordered copies and first-run copies purchased at retail will feature the bonus.<br />
<br />
Sony seems very eager to encourage pre-orders for the upcoming racer, as Sackboy is just the latest addition to an extensive <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/15/modnation-racers-coming-to-psp-and-ps3-on-may-25/">pre-order bonus campaign</a>. Has the tactic worked, or are you still on the fence? Check out a new trailer (featuring Sackboy!) after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/27/sackboy-joins-the-modnation-racers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sackboy joins the ModNation Racers</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/27/sackboy-joins-the-modnation-racers/">Sackboy joins the ModNation Racers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Apr 2010 17:45:00 EST. Just missing the opportunity to become the ideal -- and stuffed -- stocking stuffer, the first official line of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> plushies is now available on <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0030DG4SQ?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B0030DG4SQ">Amazon.com</a>. This two-pack bundle from Senario includes one naked Sackboy and one white Sackgirl for $20. Unfortunately, the online retailer won't have these dolls in stock until the December 30th, so you'll have to take Amazon's prohibitively pricey "One Week Ago" time-travel shipping option.<br />

It looks like some romance may be happening at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Two popular PlayStation mascots were seen on a date in Vienna. In this shocking video (after the break), you'll see Sackboy and Buzz shamelessly holding hands, eating lunch together, and riding the <em>wiener risenrad</em>.<br />
<br />
We're disgusted by Buzz's actions here. Yes, Sackboy is adorable -- but he's only <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/11/02/littlebigplanet-celebrates-its-birthday-with-free-costumes/"><em>one year old</em></a>. Just because you're a video game celebrity doesn't mean you can get away with this kind of <em>sickening</em> pedophilia.<br />

Pre-ordering <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet-psp/"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> for PSP at <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=74386">GameStop</a> seems to be a good way to get a headstart on building a respectable LittleBigCloset. The retailer is offering a series of six outfits based on popular PlayStation franchises, including two each from <em>Uncharted 2, MotorStorm</em> and <em>Killzone 2.</em> The costumes will be e-mailed with online orders or handed out on cards with in-store purchases.<br />
<br />
One of the <em>Killzone </em>costumes is the <em>tank</em> revealed <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/10/23/littlebigworkshop-reveals-a-handful-of-lbp-psp-costumes/">recently</a> by LittleBigWorkshop. Hopefully, it'll be accessible for non-GameStop buyers, because we'd be heartbroken if <em>every LBP </em>player didn't get to run around in a lil' tank.<br />
<br />

This seems like one of those things that, when a Sony representative sees it, it elicits a sharp forehead smack, accompanied by the following exclamation: "Why didn't I think of that?" A clever eBay user known as "thegroovygamer" recently put a lovingly crafted <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> pod replica <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=140337195617&amp;ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT">on the virtual auction block</a>. Of course, it wouldn't be an <em>exact</em> replica without two additional items: A DualShock 3 controller, and a little Sackboy to inhabit it.<br /><br />We would have bought an armful of these bundles had Sony released them in the thick of <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> fever last fall. Oh, heck -- we'd buy an armful now. Just throw in a few sticker sheets, and we'll get out our checkbooks.<br /><br />[Thanks, Corey!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/04/littlebigplanet-pod-replica-making-ebay-a-bit-more-adorable/">LittleBigPlanet pod replica making eBay a bit more adorable</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Aug 2009 12:30:00 EST. Save for a few of the game's beefier DLC packs, a majority of the downloadable content for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> has been purely aesthetic. Not that we mind being able to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/27/infamous-costume-hitting-littlebigplanet-on-august-6/">dress our Sackboys up like Cole McGrath</a> -- but we'd prefer something that makes the already rich level creation engine just a little bit <em>richer</em>.<br /><br />Fortunately, during the Develop Conference earlier this month, <a href="http://www.vg247.com/2009/07/28/littlebigplanet-will-expand-as-creation-tool-with-dlc-says-mm-boss/">Media Molecule co-founder Mark Healy announced</a> that an upcoming piece of DLC will add "lots of exciting things that make it into more of a versatile creation tool." He didn't get any more specific than that, but added that it would make fans "very happy." Hey, if it helps our levels not look like something a six-year-old drew in Sunday school, we'll be pleased as punch.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/29/upcoming-littlebigplanet-dlc-to-make-creation-more-versatile/">Upcoming LittleBigPlanet DLC to make creation more 'versatile'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 29 Jul 2009 11:00:00 EST. Running, jumping and, um, grabbing your way through over one million user-created <a href="http://johttp://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> levels in under a year -- why that's like, 20 million miles! In fact, according to the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/07/22/littlebigplanet-community-reaches-one-million-creations/">PlayStation Blog</a>'s calculations, that's about one new level being published every 21 seconds since the game released.<br /><br />In celebration of the game's benchmark achievement, the game's developer, Media Molecule, has created the video you see above -- basically, a montage of various user-created levels, though we're more inclined to point you to <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/littlebigcontra-collaboration-is-remarkable/">LittleBigContra</a> if you're really looking to be impressed. Furthermore, the post teases an August 18 reveal of "something interesting" from Media Molecule. Could it be <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/07/08/media-molecule-new-levels-for-littlebigplanet-are-a-high-priori/">more downloadable levels</a> for the game? A new game entirely? A <em>brand new</em> car? We'll just have to wait until the 18th of August to see.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/22/littlebigplanet-hits-one-million-user-created-levels/">LittleBigPlanet hits one million user-created levels</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 Jul 2009 13:50:00 EST. Residents of the UK can count themselves lucky today as their geographic location permits them a free, official wool Sackboy, courtesy of the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/LittleBigPlanetUK"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em> YouTube channel</a>. It's easy to get your hands on yours, simply subscribe to the channel and either <a href="mailto:littlebigplanet@scee.net">email</a> or private message (via YouTube) your name and address. Sackboys will be sent out on a weekly basis, so it won't be long before you'll find yours sliding through your letterbox.<br /><br />The giveaway will end on July 1 and there are enough Sackboys for the first 5000 subscribers who send over their details. We're interested to see what these woolen Sackboys actually look like and whether they'll be available for purchase at a later date. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/30/maggie-wang-strikes-again-more-custom-sackboys/">Customizable</a>, perhaps? We can only hope.<br /><br />[Thanks, James]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/30/free-sackboys-for-uk-lbp-youtube-channel-subscribers/">Free Sackboys for UK LBP YouTube channel subscribers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 30 Apr 2009 15:15:00 EST. Aww. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/LittleBigPlanet/">LittleBigPlanet</a></em>'s textured protagonist sure is adorable, right? <em>Wrong</em>. Behind those glassy eyes lies the cold, calculating brain of a trained killer. Behind his crude stitches sleeps the twisted, Stygian heart of a madman. We've had the impression for some time that Sackboy possessed the capacity for terrible violence -- and a new <em>LBP </em>machinima masterpiece titled <a href="http://www.mediamolecule.com/2009/04/16/we-love-machinima-littlebigrevenge/"><em>LittleBigRevenge</em> </a>only strengthens our fears.<br /><br />Produced by a Belgian amateur filmmaking crew named <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/SeakittenCollective">Seakitten Collective</a>, <em>LittleBigRevenge</em> (which we've posted after the jump) shows us why one should never summon this incorrigible bastard into the physical realm -- and why one should never, <em>ever</em> mess with his ladyfriend. It's also one of the best pieces of machinima we've seen in a while. If this ain't <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/03/01/how-to-receive-the-coveted-littlebigplanet-crown/">crown-worthy</a>, we don't know what is.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/17/sackboy-comes-to-life-in-littlebigrevenge-machinima/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sackboy comes to life in LittleBigRevenge machinima</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/17/sackboy-comes-to-life-in-littlebigrevenge-machinima/">Sackboy comes to life in LittleBigRevenge machinima</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Apr 2009 02:00:00 EST. Can you put a price on cuteness? Collectibles retailer Entertainment Earth certainly has -- for the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> Sackboy figures from Mezco Toyz. Turns out it's $34.99 for three doses of the cute stuff.<br /><br />The set, listed as "Wave 1" (as in "more on the way!"), is slightly different from what Sony first <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/09/sackboy-action-figures-coming-to-stores-this-spring/">gave us a glimpse of</a> in February. The figures are still 4" tall with various accessories (each comes standard with a Pop-it Lasso) but the roaster has changed. It now includes plain ol' Sackboy, the pigtailed Sackgirl, "Sky," and the afro-sporting "Marvin." (Sky's spot was taken by a Chinese New Year Dragon Sackboy in the original lineup.)<br /><br />It looks as if the release of the line has been pushed back as well. Sony originally indicated a spring arrival, while Entertainment Earth -- which is usually reliable regarding ship dates -- lists them for September. We'll be happy just to get them <em>at all</em>. We'd be happier yet if they were somehow made from recycled plastic ... sacks.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1740266#post1740266">Evil Avatar</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/16/first-wave-of-sackboy-figures-priced-and-pictured/">First wave of Sackboy figures priced and pictured</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Apr 2009 18:45:00 EST. Sony is looking to extract some more money from European wallets through <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/33842/Sony-appoints-new-IP-licensor-for-PlayStation-IP">a new deal inked with Target Entertainment</a>, who will now be the consumer product licensing agent for all PlayStation software IP. This means you could have a nice 6" tall <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=kratos">Kratos</a> watching over your cubicle whenever you go to refill that mug of coffee, or your own cuddly, <em>huge</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sackboy">Sackboy</a> to snuggle up with every night while in bed. Really, the possibilities for merchandise are near endless here.<br /><br />SCEE's licensing and peripherals manager Stephanie Freeman says Sony wants "consumers to have the ability to interact with our brands and characters in ways other than just on screen. We feel Target Entertainment Group has the vibrancy and experience to help us do this successfully." No word on when these products will be making their way to market, but you should be able to stock up on Helghast target dummies and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ratchet-and-clank"><em>Ratchet and Clank</em></a> ratchet sets soon.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/07/sony-targets-collectors-with-licensing-agreement/">Sony targets collectors with licensing agreement</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Apr 2009 16:02:00 EST. The <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> stars are tired of platforming in all your user-created levels. They're taking a break by joining the cast of <em>Hot Shots Golf</em>. <strong>Update:</strong> The content will be available tomorrow, March 12th. According to the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/03/11/sackboy-in-hot-shots-golf-out-of-bounds/">PlayStation.Blog</a>, acquiring the various Sackboy costumes will involve buying the premium DLC and downloading a patch.<br /><br /><strong>Update 2:</strong> It's not free! Sorry folks! Price should be revealed in Thursday's PSN update.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/11/sackboy-joins-the-hot-shots-golf-cast/">Sackboy joins the Hot Shots Golf cast [Update 2]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Mar 2009 17:30:00 EST. <div align="left">How adorable is this? It's the Prince from the 2008 <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prince-of-persia">Prince of Persia</a> </em>reboot recreated in Sackboy form. Media Molecule keeps saying that official, purchasable Sackboys are coming, but when we see stuff like this it makes the wait much harder. The two pictured above were made by craftswoman extraordinaire, Maggie Wang. Check out <a href="http://maggiewang.com/2009/02/07/sack-prince-of-persia">her website</a> for more pictures of Sackboy Prince from various angles, along with some tips on how he was made.<br /><br />Looking at these images we can't help but wish for some <em>LittleBigPlanet Prince of Persia</em> DLC in the future. Perhaps involving a wall-running powerup? Then again, what game <em>wouldn't</em> be awesome when converted to <em>LittleBigPlanet </em>DLC? Wonder when those <em>Final Fantasy VII</em> and <em>Killzone 2</em> packs will finally come out ...</div>

Sackboy is one of the most recognizable video game icons out right now. No wonder that Sony wants to capitalize on the <em>LittleBig</em>-love by releasing new 4" action figures this Spring. In addition to the regular 4" action figures, toy developer and manufacturer, Mezco Toyz, will also release limited-edition Sackboys throughout the year, ranging between 2&Prime; and 18&Prime; large.<br /><br />The <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/02/09/sack-it-to-me-love-is-in-the-air-edition/">PlayStation.Blog</a> also notes that official Sackboy plushes are also in the works, but more time is needed before they're officially unveiled.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/09/sackboy-action-figures-coming-to-stores-this-spring/">Sackboy action figures coming to stores this Spring</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 09 Feb 2009 21:43:00 EST. Do you remember last month's story? The one about Brit mag <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/09/simply-knitting-mag-shows-how-to-knit-a-sackperson/">Simply Knitting</a> having a feature article on how to knit a Sackboy? Surely you do, because we just linked to it. Anyway, back then you had to buy the mag to get the instructions, but now, all you have to do is click right <a href="http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00686/SKM49_2__proj_sackb_686954a.pdf">here</a>.<br /><br />It's all thanks to <a href="http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/fun/gizmo/article2056598.ece">The Sun</a>, who has teamed up with Simply Knitting to bring this free PDF version of the spread for the enjoyment of everyone. Now that the issue has probably been taken off the newsstands, there's no problem with letting the internet go wild and have their fun. Go at it and make some Sackpeople!<br /><br />[Thanks Sarah S.!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/08/learn-to-make-a-sackperson-for-free/">Learn to make a Sackboy plushie for free</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Jan 2009 09:00:00 EST. All the details for making your own denizen of LittleBigPlanet are in the latest Simply Knitting magazine, but we're guessing it's already on your coffee table, right? By the way, the instructions were created by designer Alan Dart, which the magazine describes as "the <em>Grand Theft Auto</em> of knitting." Adorable.<br /><br />Pick up the issue for the Sackboy designs, but <em>stay </em>for all the beloved Simply Knitting monthly features like stories of mothers and daughters knitting together in "The Tie that Binds," Roger Estwhile's "Knitting Knews", or Sue Coulty's zany tales of adventures in motherhood, "All In Knots." We hope at least one of those is real.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/10/you-too-can-knit-your-own-sackboy/">You too can knit your own Sackboy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 10 Dec 2008 11:30:00 EST. All right kids, if you want a really good homemade Sackboy or Sackgirl then you better get Grandma a copy of Simply Knitting issue 49. The British magazine has a spread all about how to knit a Sackperson for your personal enjoyment. The loveable little tike which is featured in the mag can be seen posted above; it's a design made by Alan Dart. If you're thinking of making one and picking up a copy, be prepared to shell out &pound;4.49.<br /><br />[via press release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/09/simply-knitting-mag-shows-how-to-knit-a-sackperson/">Simply Knitting mag shows how to knit a Sackperson</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Dec 2008 23:30:00 EST. SackBoy plushies have been the object of desire for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet/"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> fans for a very <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/06/we-3-this-littlebigplanet-plush/">long time</a> now; however, such a prized possession has yet to be made commercially available -- until now, that is. Japan is getting the official SackBoy squeeze toys this month and they're already available for purchase off <a href="http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-19-71-d-49-en-15-%22sackboy%22.html">Play-Asia</a>. <br /><br />Currently, the online retailer carries four versions of SackBoy: Normal, Pirate, Soldier and Sunflower. They're the 4" dolls we've <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/03/official-littlebigplanet-sackboy-plushies-shown-in-japanese-ad/">reported on before</a>, and they're actually cheaper than we thought at the price of $9.90. Import them today, or just wait for those North American plushies that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/19/littlebigplanet-dev-chats-about-story-mode-adult-content-and-s/">we know are coming</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/02/sackboy-plushies-available-now-on-play-asia/">SackBoy plushies available now on Play-Asia</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Dec 2008 08:00:00 EST. This week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psn-thursday">PSN update</a> will see the addition of new SackBoy costumes for the faithful followers of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet" style="font-style: italic;">LittleBigPlanet</a>. The first is a <span style="font-style: italic;">free</span> costume created by a contest winner, featuring a SackBoy with a TV on his head. The original submitted sketch for "Sack-In-The-Box" can be found after the break.<br /><br />The premium (read: pay) <span style="font-style: italic;">LBP</span> costumes this week deliver a SackBoy take on the saccharine world of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/locoroco-2" style="font-style: italic;">LocoRoco</a>. Five costumes (pictured above) will come with the $3 pack. Now we await video featuring a full-blown <span style="font-style: italic;">LocoRoco</span> LBP level.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/this-weeks-lbp-dlc-costumes-feature-locoroco-tv-on-head/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New LBP costumes feature LocoRoco, TV-on-head</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/this-weeks-lbp-dlc-costumes-feature-locoroco-tv-on-head/">New LBP costumes feature LocoRoco, TV-on-head</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Nov 2008 12:58:00 EST. <div align="left">Who fancies a game of "will they, won't they?" After stating that image importing from your hard drive <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/03/image-importing-coming-to-littlebigplanet-by-xmas/">will be coming</a> to <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> at Game City Media Molecule seemed to change tact and stated yesterday that there were "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/04/currently-no-plans-for-littlebigplanet-image-importing/">currently no plans</a>" to implement such a feature. Normally that's where the issue would end, but some eagle eyed <em>LBP</em> fans have noticed something fishy on the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mediamolecule/3002663511/sizes/l/in/photostream/">Media Molecule flickr page</a>.<br /><br />The photo above (click it to see the full size version) is captioned "work in progress" and shows a new Popit menu tool. An "image import tool" which allows you to "import images from your PlayStation Hard Drive to use as stickers." The photo was uploaded yesterday, the same day Media Molecule denied having any plans for such a feature. <br /><br />Sure, it could be a Media Molecule exclusive tool and not for external distribution, but then why post a photo of it when they know we're expecting the feature to be patched in? Only time will tell what exactly is going on. Until then, keep your PlayStation Eyes handy, just in case. Also, did you notice that Sackboy in the bottom right hand corner? So did we. We want it.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.tawkn.com/index.php?page=site-newspost&amp;news_id=752">Tawkn</a>]</div>

It's been a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/30/littlebigplanet-1-03-its-a-live/">rocky launch</a> into cyberspace, hasn't it? Sony and Media Molecule are offering their apologies to those of us along for the ride this week and will be handing out some free (and not-so-free) <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/LittleBigPlanet/">LittleBigPlanet</a></em> DLC in the coming weeks. Next Thursday, November 6th, we can finally strap on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/littlebigplanets-launch-freebie-sackastronaut/">launch spacesuit</a> and hopefully settle into a smooth ride. In addition, we'll get a Halloween mask just in time for ... Thanksgiving. But act fast! Both "fan appreciation gifts" will be taken away and locked in an offline database during the November 20th PSN update. Thankfully, free "community costumes" will always be available.<br /><br />Sony and Media Molecule have also laid out their <em>nickel and dime</em> strategy, teasing several for-pay SackBoy costumes and "premium" for-pay SackBoy costumes (like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/you-got-metal-gear-and-final-fantasy-in-my-littlebigplanet/">these two</a>) -- also available in neatly bundled sets. On top of that there will be "RARE" costumes, at times, for the ominous price of "$?.??." Time to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psn-cards/">stock up</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/30/free-lbp-dlc-offered-in-wake-of-bumpy-release/">Free LBP DLC offered in wake of 'bumpy release'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 30 Oct 2008 19:58:00 EST. Almost two years ago, during my vigil outside the Sony Wonder Technology Lab in New York City, I awaited the chance to buy a PS3. At that time, I wasn't thinking about a game like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a>. In terms of future titles, my friends and I were anticipating the next <em>Final Fantasy</em>, the next <em>Gran Turismo</em> or the next <em>Tekken</em>. None of us knew that a game like <em>LBP</em> was poised to become what Sony expects to be the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/08/scee-expects-littlebigplanet-to-be-biggest-ps3-game-ever/">biggest PS3 game ever</a>. Naturally one would want to know; does it live up to the hype?<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/28/ps3-fanboy-review-littlebigplanet/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PS3 Fanboy review: LittleBigPlanet</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/28/ps3-fanboy-review-littlebigplanet/">PS3 Fanboy review: LittleBigPlanet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Oct 2008 09:00:00 EST. Media Molecule <a href="http://www.mediamolecule.com/2008/10/27/powering-up/">switched on</a> the <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> servers today and just like that ... went right back to work on <em>the sequel</em>. The team has already begun development of a follow-up title, according to <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7688800.stm">BBC</a>, and is looking into broadening the franchise -- we're talking cartoons, comics, action figures, the works. As Mr. Carter foretold: <em>Can't stop the blows -- *KABOOM* -- the SackBoy in the room!</em><br /> <br /><a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7688800.stm">Source</a> - Game on for British developers [BBC]<br /><a href="http://www.mediamolecule.com/2008/10/27/powering-up/">Source</a> - Powering up! <div align="left">The guys at Media Molecule have just announced that the servers for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet">LittleBigPlanet</a></em> have gone live. You can now begin to access all of the online features of the game -- make friends, publish levels, heart levels and more. Those of you got their hands on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/25/littlebigplanet-now-available-at-gamestop/">an "early" copy of the game from GameStop</a>, why are you still reading this?! Finally, make sure to play the PS3 Fanboy-made level (pictured) created by Majed. Have fun!</div>

<div align="left">As cute as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/you-got-metal-gear-and-final-fantasy-in-my-littlebigplanet/">Old Sack and Sackiroth</a> may be in digital form (despite being gun-toting, sword-wielding mass murderers), they're nothing in comparison to their real life counterparts. These costumed SackBoy plush dolls appeared during the public days in the <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> section of the Sony booth. Media Molecule continues to tease us with <a href="http://www.mediamolecule.com/2008/02/06/sackboy-fo-real/">physical SackBoys</a> that we <em>just</em> <em>can't have</em>.<br /><br />On nearby screens a trailer showed the two newest members of the <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> family running and jumping through various levels of the game. Adorable and ecstatic? Yes, but also ruthless Ninja killers. Check some of it out in the video after the break.</div>

<div align="left">As if yesterday's announcement of an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/07/gamestop-lbp-pre-order-adds-more-god-of-war-sackness/">entire <em>God of War</em> level theme</a> for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> wasn't enough to entice you to snap up the game day one, today Sony delivered the <strike>icing</strike> astronaut on the cake. <br /><br />Anyone who plays Media Molecule's platforming concoction during its first week of release will be able to download a space suit costume for SackBoy, free of charge, from within the game. Like <em>what astronauts do</em>. Hence, a space suit. Clever, eh? <br /></font></div>

Media Molecule boss Mark Healey admits that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/LittleBigPlanet/">LittleBigPlanet's</a></em> controls can be frustrating. "The Z [axis] movement is an incredibly hard thing for us to get right. There's times when it annoys me actually," Healey told <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=254347">Eurogamer</a>, <strike>echoing sentiments <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/18/lair-dev-berates-motion-controls-in-other-games/2">shared</a> by other PlayStation 3 developers that have struggled to put games in motion.</strike> [Update: Oops! Healey's actually talking about moving between the foreground and background planes (thanks Colin!) -- the motion controls still are wonky though ... ]<br /><br />Media Molecule seems confident a software patch could do the trick. "There's definitely room for improvement and we've got the channel to be able to do that as well. I'd really love to be able to do backflips and all kinds of things with my <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sackboy">SackBoy</a>, and there's no reason why we can't add that and refine that." <em>LittleTombRaider?</em> <em>NinjaBigGaiden?</em> Yes please.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/07/littlebigplanet-creator-hints-at-controls-patch-backflips/">LittleBigPlanet creator hints at controls patch, backflips</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Oct 2008 16:00:00 EST. We had previously learned that a Kratos SackBoy would be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/06/five-littlebigpre-order-bonuses-including-kratos-sackboy/">available with a GameStop pre-order</a>, but what we didn't know was all the extras that would also be included with the reservation. The <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?sku=270109">GameStop website</a> and a new commercial (found after the break) reveal the pre-order will also include Minotaur and Medusa costumes, along with stickers and level pack.<br /><br />The details on getting the redemption code vary between online and in-store reservation, with online codes being sent out a week before the game ships and store codes available at time of reservation -- while supplies last (call ahead). You had to know this sort of thing was coming: As you can see right after the break, <em>Super Mario Bros.</em>' World 1-1 has been replicated in the make-your-own-fun platformer, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/LittleBigPlanet/">LittleBigPlanet</a></em>. It's not exact (in fact, we wouldn't be surprised to see players trying to immediately trump it) but it's still adorable.<br /><br />What's surprising, though, is that it appears to lose a bit in the fun department during translation. Of course, maybe this is more about the actual achievement. We should really stop looking a gift Sackboy in the mouth.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/26/see-marios-world-1-1-in-littlebigplanet/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>See Mario's World 1-1 in LittleBigPlanet</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/26/see-marios-world-1-1-in-littlebigplanet/">See Mario's World 1-1 in LittleBigPlanet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Sep 2008 11:30:00 EST. And not like how <em>we </em>have a "job" in the industry. This one might actually bring joy into the lives of others! "I think this game can definitely help people get jobs in the industry," Media Molecule's co-founder and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a>'s art director, Kareem Ettouney, recently told <a href="http://venturebeat.com/2008/09/24/qa-with-kareem-ettouney-on-sonys-great-hope-littlebigplanet-for-the-playstation-3/">VentureBeat</a>."Imagine a guy going into a job with five levels of LittleBigPlanet and you get to play his creation." <br /><br />Having been "blown away" by the varied creations that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/23/art-students-make-littlebigcolossus-in-24-hours/">flooded out of Parsons New School of Design</a> earlier this week, Ettouney explained that <em>LittleBigPlanet</em>'s shared level building could provide a way for upcoming game designers to become known and appreciated -- or feared, in our case. "People know his levels and know his name," he said, suggesting that aspiring designers would walk into a job interview, already known. "We hope LittleBigPlanet plays a part in getting new game developers jobs and also making them stars."<br /><br />You hear that, Dad? This guy says we can get a job by <em>playing a game</em>! And you said it was just a waste of time.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/25/littlebigplanet-could-get-you-that-industry-job/">LittleBigPlanet could get you that industry job</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Sep 2008 15:30:00 EST.
