The newly combined entity, Cosmi reports, will be the second largest US retail publisher of PC games in terms of units sold, and the top retail publisher in the "value software category."<br /><br />"With the transition of the 'Value' PC business to Cosmi, our internal resources are now focused on our core video game portfolio where we can drive the highest quality performance and execution for our games," said THQ CEO Brian Farrell in the announcement. Though the sale price was not revealed, we can at least be confident that THQ <em>has</em> some internal resources to focus for a while, thanks to the Cosmi money.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/27/thq-sells-off-budget-pc-game-publisher-valusoft/">THQ sells off budget PC game publisher ValuSoft</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Apr 2012 09:35:00 EST. Hardware doesn't frequently go on sale, so this is either a sign of things to come or simply a random promotion. No other major retailers have shifted the price of the console.<br /><br />GameStop is also currently running a <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/collection/sale-psvita">bundle deal</a> on the PS Vita, offering a free game and case with purchase of the system.<br /><br />We've contacted the company to find out if the sale is a one-off deal or it's here to stay. You know, E3 is only a little over a month away.<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: The "limited promotion" <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/collection/gamestop-sale">sale</a> ends April 26.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/20/gamestop-drops-50-from-ps3-price/">GameStop drops $50 from PS3 price</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Apr 2012 09:30:00 EST. Or, as we like to call it, this is GOG's "buy 16 games, get 16 games free" sale.<br /><br />The sale includes <em>Fallout</em> <em>2</em>, <em>Earthworm Jim 1 and 2</em>, <em>MDK</em>, <em>Freespace </em>and <em>Invictus: In the Shadow of Olympus</em>, for $3 each. Every title is $3, actually, making the entire bundle $96 -- a savings of $96. Yes, that's what we meant with "buy 16, get 16 free." This could also be the "buy one, get two half off" sale, or the "buy 8, get 16 half off" sale. Take your pick; any way they're all good old games for a great new price.<br /><br />The sale runs from now until Monday at 11:59 p.m. EDT.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/13/good-old-games-taking-half-off-interplay-titles-this-weekend/">Good Old Games taking half off Interplay titles this weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Apr 2012 20:30:00 EST. If you don't play them now, you can save them for a rainy day. The standout of the pack is Rockstar's detective adventure <em>L.A. Noire</em> for $5, a price that almost makes up for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/10/mcnamara-explains-why-la-noires-cole-seemed-like-a-psycho/">confusion over those "truth, doubt or lie"</a> interrogation techniques.<br /><br />Also worth grabbing is the Dragon Age Pack, a bundle that includes <em>Origins Ultimate</em> and <em>Dragon Age 2</em>, for $10. The recently released and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/20/the-darkness-2-review/#review">well-received</a> shooter, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-darkness-2">The Darkness 2</a>, </em>can be yours for $12.50.<br /><br />There are also a couple Hamiltons off <em>Mass Effect 3, Syndicate</em> and <em>Kingdoms of Amalur</em>. Check out the list of discounted core game (in addition to <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?docId=1000792691">300 casual items</a>) after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/05/amazon-spring-sale-on-pc-has-la-noire-for-5-crysis-2-for-7/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Amazon 'Spring Sale' on PC has LA Noire for $5, Crysis 2 for $7.50</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/05/amazon-spring-sale-on-pc-has-la-noire-for-5-crysis-2-for-7/">Amazon 'Spring Sale' on PC has LA Noire for $5, Crysis 2 for $7.50</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Apr 2012 09:00:00 EST. This weekend, GOG has a mad rush of Zork titles and other "<a href="http://www.gog.com/promo/activision_treasures?utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=game_subject&amp;utm_campaign=activision_treasures">Activision Treasures</a>" on sale, including <em>Zork: Grand Inquisitor</em>, <em>Zork Nemesis: The Forbidden Lands</em>, <em>Return to Zork</em> and <em>The Zork Anthology</em>, which has <em>Zork 1</em>-<em>3</em>, <em>Beyond Zork</em>, <em>Zork Zero</em> and <em>Planetfall</em>.<br /><br />All Zorky titles are half off, for $3 each this weekend, along with <em>Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura</em>, <em>Caesar 3</em> and <em>Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption</em>, the last of which we hear was recently rebooted as an open-world western. Or, wait. That may have been something else entirely.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/30/have-a-good-zork-filled-weekend-with-activision-treasures-sale/">Have a good, Zork-filled weekend with Activision Treasures sale on GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 Mar 2012 13:00:00 EST. The Sunday Times doesn't list a source or means of obtaining this information, Bloomberg writes, but with Game's awkward economic happenings recently, this news doesn't come as either a shock or surprise.<br /><br />Game hasn't been able to stock <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/29/game-not-stocking-mass-effect-3/">high-profile titles</a> during <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/05/game-also-not-stocking-street-fighter-x-tekken-asuras-wrath/">recent launches</a>, including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-x-tekken"><em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/asuras-wrath"><em>Asura's Wrath</em></a>, Ubisoft's Vita <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/21/uk-game-store-wont-sell-ubisoft-vita-titles-at-launch/">launch titles</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mass-effect-3"><em>Mass Effect 3</em></a>, the last of which alone lost Game an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/02/analyst-calculates-games-loss-from-not-stocking-mass-effect-3/">estimated</a> &pound;2 million ($3.2 million). There's also some attempted discounts on full downloads of <em>Battlestations: Pacific</em>, <em>Just Cause 2</em> and <em>Tomb Raider: Underworld</em>; but chances are you can find better in your local bargain bin.<br /><br />Another game worth checking out is updated original <em>Tomb Raider: Legend: Anniversary</em>, available in two chunks at 400 MSP ($5) apiece (caveat is you'll need to own <em>TR: Legend</em> since it's the DLC). So, try the first two levels before you buy the whole thing. Look, just because it's Halloween season doesn't mean <em>everything</em> has to be Halloween oriented, okay? We love costumes and candy as much as the next website, but if we see the word "spooktacular" one more time we're going to straight-up gouge our own brains out. <br />
<br />
Amazon, at least, has the common courtesy to run a non-festive, yet entirely excellent buy 2, get 1 free sale in lieu of the expected, ghoulish sales promotions extended by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/29/halloween-sale-megapost-namco-ea-gog-direct2drive-onlive/">other corporations</a>. The sale applies to a boat-load of fresh hotness like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-city"><em>Batman: Arkham City</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dark-souls"><em>Dark Souls</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ico-and-shadow-of-the-colossus-collection"><em>The ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection</em></a>, so <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_358009902_1?ie=UTF8&amp;plgroup=1&amp;docId=1000741821&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_s=center-5&amp;pf_rd_r=19RBGN1G7FHQC2581GSV&amp;pf_rd_t=101&amp;pf_rd_p=1327526982&amp;pf_rd_i=409566">check it out</a> if you'd rather spend $120 on new games rather than new cavities. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/30/non-spooky-savings-amazons-buy-2-get-1-free-sale/">Non-spooky savings: Amazon's buy 2, get 1 free sale</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 30 Oct 2011 11:30:00 EST. This Halloween weekend, many major game distributors are treating us to some massive sales on games they consider "scary," "dark," or that include zombies. To make the scavenging easy while you put the final touches on your <a href="http://i.imgur.com/QvljM.jpg">Pyramid Head</a> costume (you freak), we've compiled the Halloween-weekend deals from EA, GoG, Direct2Drive, Namco Bandai and OnLive right here.<br />
<br />
The trick? We're eating all the candy ourselves, and you get none. <em>Boo</em>-ya.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/29/halloween-sale-megapost-namco-ea-gog-direct2drive-onlive/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Halloween Sale Megapost: Namco, EA, GoG, Direct2Drive, OnLive</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/29/halloween-sale-megapost-namco-ea-gog-direct2drive-onlive/">Halloween Sale Megapost: Namco, EA, GoG, Direct2Drive, OnLive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 29 Oct 2011 15:30:00 EST. Microsoft is taking a set of sharp blades and ravenously cutting prices across the board on Xbox Live Marketplace content, starting right now. Already inexpensive (and wonderful) title <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/outland"><em>Outland</em></a> will cost you a cool 400 MS Points ($5), while deep multiplayer fare like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/monday-night-combat"><em>Monday Night Combat</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/section-8-prejudice"><em>Section 8: Prejudice</em></a> are going for 600 MS Points ($7.50) and 800 MS Points ($10), respectively.<br />
<br />
Also, hey, if you're not one of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/27/trials-hd-motors-past-2-million-sales/">over 2 million people</a> who own and adore <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/trials-hd"><em>Trials HD</em></a>, here's another chance to grab it on the cheap (600 MS Points/$7.50). It's unclear when the "Extreme Shopping" sale will end, so we've asked Microsoft for more info. For now, enjoy the <em>sweet, sweet savings</em> while you can.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> This post originally had <em>ilomilo</em> listed as on sale for $5, which is false. Sorry about that!<br />

During the CD Projekt Fall 2011 press conference, the publisher revealed that its GOG distribution platform is approaching the 6 million download milestone. To help push its sales -- which currently stand at a little over 5.8 million -- over the top, it <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/news/help_us_achieve_6_million_downloads_milestone">announced two promotions</a>: First, the six millionth downloader will receive every game on the platform for free. Second, for the first 48 hours after hitting the mark, everyone will get a free download of <em>Broken Sword: Shadow of The Templars Director's Cut</em>.<br />
<br />
For CD Projekt's sake, we hope they don't get those two promotions mixed up. To wit: "Congratulations! You're our six millionth customer, so here's <em>Broken Sword</em>! Everyone else, here's everything for free <em>oh god we gave all our games away.</em>"<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/22/six-million-gog-downloads-means-broken-sword-for-everyone/">Six million GOG downloads means Broken Sword for everyone</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 22 Sep 2011 14:15:00 EST. Best Buy is offering a buy one, get one half-off deal but, unlike the deal <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/13/buy-one-get-half-off-a-second-select-xbox-360-ps3-game-at-best/">two months ago</a>, this one appears to be on all Xbox 360 and PS3 games. Before you get clever, thinking you'll get the holiday titles on the cheap, the sale excludes pre-orders and pre-owned games.<br />
<br />
A minor consolation: those who haven't picked up <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/duke-nukem-forever">Duke Nukem Forever</a> </em>can fulfill their irrepressible, morbid curiosity by getting the game for $20.<br />

	<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/09/perfect-world-completes-cryptic-studios-acquisition/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/08/neverwintercryptic.jpg" style="border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; margin: 0px;" /></a></div>
Atari announced earlier this year that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/17/atari-seeking-to-sell-cryptic-studios-as-another-fiscal-year-end/">it was trying to sell off</a> <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/city-of-heroes"><em>City of Heroes</em></a> developer Cryptic Studios, and <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/36468/Atari_Officially_Closes_Sale_Of_Champions_Online_Developer_Cryptic_Studios_.php">it's now essentially done just that</a>, according to the company. Chinese MMO developer <a href="http://www.perfectworld.com/">Perfect World</a> recently bought <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/34910/Perfect_World_Acquires_Champions_Online_Developer_Cryptic_Studios.php">an equity interest in the studio</a>, and Atari has now divested its own interest, meaning that Cryptic is in the hands of the same company that also <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/17/perfect-world-grabs-majority-share-in-torchlight-developer/">owns a majority interest</a> in <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/torchlight"><em>Torchlight</em></a> developer Runic Games.<br />
<br />
Perfect World reportedly paid $49.8 million for the sale, and Atari says it will put $30.7 million of that total right back into its own debt, leaving the rest for investment in other deals and programs. Cryptic was working on <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/neverwinter"><em>Neverwinter</em></a>, as well as developing content for <em>Star Trek Online</em> and the free-to-play <em>Champions Online</em>, but any other titles the company was working on with Atari are probably done for. We'll have to see just how the fate of these games plays out as Perfect World oversees things going forward.<br />

Perfect World has said the purchase will use Cryptic's experience in the MMO space to "strengthen our well-established R&amp;D capabilities," as well as "add [the aforementioned] attractive game titles to our portfolio."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/09/perfect-world-completes-cryptic-studios-acquisition/">Perfect World completes Cryptic Studios acquisition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Aug 2011 19:45:00 EST. For a lot of people, Friday means pay-day, which means a weekend full of extravagant spending: a little boutique shopping, perhaps a night at <em>da club</em>, etc. If you're like us though, and the majority of your pay checks are followed by staying <em>in</em> rather than going <em>out</em>, fear not. Huge weekend sales mean you can still feel like a big spender without having to blow an entire check, all from the comfort of your own home.<br />
<br />
Origin's <a href="http://store.origin.com/store/ea/html/pbpage.summersale">$5 PC offerings are back</a>, along with a slew of fairly-recent console titles like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Dead-Space-2"><em>Dead Space 2 </em></a>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Portal-2"><em>Portal 2</em></a> for <a href="http://store.origin.com/store/ea/html/pbpage.hotdeals?easid=Sale_40_Console">40 percent off</a>. Both sales run until August 9, and every console game purchased comes with a complimentary PC copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/need-for-speed-shift"><em>Need for Speed Shift</em></a>.<br />
<br />
Direct2Drive, not to be left out of the fun, has both <a href="http://www.direct2drive.com/10279/product/Buy-Bulletstorm-Download"><em>Bulletstorm</em></a> and <a href="http://www.direct2drive.com/9919/product/Buy-Borderlands-Game-of-the-Year-Edition-Download"><em>Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition</em></a> marked down to $11.95 a piece. No sale expiration date is listed for either title, which could mean that both are ending <em>right this very second</em>, the thought of which instills a primal fear directly into the shopping cortex of your brain.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/06/weekend-sale-roundup-origin-and-direct2drive/">Weekend Sale Roundup: Origin and Direct2Drive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 06 Aug 2011 19:00:00 EST. Even though there's currently all the sunshine you can grab <em>for free</em> outside, Amazon is offering up <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_356755242_2?ie=UTF8&amp;plgroup=1&amp;docId=1000700501&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_s=center-stage-1&amp;pf_rd_r=1421A0V5XH7SWE1A9C0C&amp;pf_rd_t=101&amp;pf_rd_p=1307771882&amp;pf_rd_i=468642">a big Buy One Get One Free sale on video games</a>, earning you two different titles for the price of one. There are some clunkers in there (and a few of the titles are sold out), so you might have to pick and choose a little bit, bargain-bin style.<br />
<br />
But there are still some good deals to be had, including <em><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Fear-2-Project-Origin-Playstation-3/dp/B00163LW7K/ref=br_lf_m_1000700501_1_3_ttl?ie=UTF8&amp;m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;s=videogames&amp;pf_rd_p=1307779442&amp;pf_rd_s=center-2&amp;pf_rd_t=1401&amp;pf_rd_i=1000700501&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_r=02PETWRWDVWSP66ZM7BB">Fear 2: Project Origin</a></em>, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Majin-Forsaken-Kingdom-Playstation-3/dp/B003BE6OYS/ref=br_lf_m_1000700501_1_9_ttl?ie=UTF8&amp;m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;s=videogames&amp;pf_rd_p=1307779442&amp;pf_rd_s=center-2&amp;pf_rd_t=1401&amp;pf_rd_i=1000700501&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_r=02PETWRWDVWSP66ZM7BB"><em>Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom</em></a>, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Lost-Planet-2-Xbox-360/dp/B002DC8GEK/ref=br_lf_m_1000700501_1_1_ttl?ie=UTF8&amp;m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;s=videogames&amp;pf_rd_p=1307779442&amp;pf_rd_s=center-2&amp;pf_rd_t=1401&amp;pf_rd_i=1000700501&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_r=0T7R3AGF8JRTDZSZZYES"><em>Lost Planet 2</em></a>, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Spider-Man-Shattered-Dimensions-Xbox-360/dp/B003Z0LFJC/ref=br_lf_m_1000700501_1_4_ttl?ie=UTF8&amp;m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;s=videogames&amp;pf_rd_p=1307779442&amp;pf_rd_s=center-2&amp;pf_rd_t=1401&amp;pf_rd_i=1000700501&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_r=0T7R3AGF8JRTDZSZZYES"><em>Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions</em></a>, and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Sin-Punishment-Star-Successor-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002EE7OKE/ref=br_lf_m_1000700501_1_4_ttl?ie=UTF8&amp;m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;s=videogames&amp;pf_rd_p=1307779442&amp;pf_rd_s=center-2&amp;pf_rd_t=1401&amp;pf_rd_i=1000700501&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_r=1SS10VF0664KBZ7B8X51"><em>Sin &amp; Punishment: Star Successor</em></a> all free when you buy another one.<br />

Rather than watching your grandma mouth along the words to Lee Greenwood's timeless Americana classic "God Bless the USA" one more time this Independence Day, wouldn't you rather giver her a run for the money in one of the many <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/hasbro-family-game-night"><em>Hasbro Family Game Night</em></a> games? EA's offering just such a possibility, putting nine of its Hasbro titles on XBL up for sale at 50 percent off, and offering a swath of deals on other platforms on July 4th.<br />
<br />
Perhaps you were looking to freedom-ize the necromorphs of <em>Dead Space</em> on iPad during your independence celebration? That's also on sale for .99 cents, alongside a handful of other iOS titles. And if you're more of the PC type, everything from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mass-effect-2"><em>Mass Effect 2</em></a> ($12) to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/need-for-speed-hot-pursuit"><em>Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit</em></a> ($18) is marked down on Origin.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/01/ea-celebrates-independence-day-with-a-massive-sale/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EA celebrates Independence Day with a massive sale</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/01/ea-celebrates-independence-day-with-a-massive-sale/">EA celebrates Independence Day with a massive sale</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 Jul 2011 13:00:00 EST. Remember the PSP? With all of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ps-vita">PS Vita</a> news lately, we wouldn't blame you if Sony's current handheld had dropped off your radar. Well, Capcom's giving PSP owners a reason to charge up their systems again, dropping the prices on <a href="http://shop.capcom.com/store?SiteID=capcomus&amp;Action=DisplayCategoryProductListPage&amp;categoryID=3952300&amp;ClickID=cl7wqfq7za4z7fip4xxfe4s4vnklswl4kan&amp;affiliateProgramType=SOCIALSTREAM&amp;&amp;resid=TetQDQoBAlYAADRgXCoAAAAp&amp;rests=1308950442941">a portion of its UMD-based titles</a> (little discs, seriously!) while supplies last.<br />
<br />
Starting at $10 and maxing out at $20, the list includes: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/monster-hunter-freedom-unite"><em>Monster Hunter Freedom Unite</em></a>, <em>Power Stone Collection</em>, <em>Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max</em> and seven more. Capcom says the quantities of some titles are "extremely limited," so hit that source link fast if you're at all interested in this deal. You'll find the full list with prices after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/25/capcoms-store-slashes-psp-game-prices-for-limited-time/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Capcom's store slashes PSP game prices for limited time</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/25/capcoms-store-slashes-psp-game-prices-for-limited-time/">Capcom's store slashes PSP game prices for limited time</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 25 Jun 2011 01:20:00 EST. Target is offering up a pretty solid deal on an Xbox 360 Kinect bundle, if you need one for the garage (you know, the one place in your house where you actually have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/04/kinect-review/">enough room for the thing</a> to work). For this weekend only, you can get the standard Kinect setup for $299, and <em>the Targe</em> will throw in a $100 gift card as a bonus.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, that bundle only includes 4GB of memory, so you might have to pay out for an upgrade if you want to download a lot of XBLA titles. But perhaps that extra Benjamin you'll have picked up can help with that.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/24/target-offering-100-gift-card-with-purchase-of-xbox-kinect-bund/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Target offering $100 gift card with purchase of Xbox Kinect bundle this weekend</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/24/target-offering-100-gift-card-with-purchase-of-xbox-kinect-bund/">Target offering $100 gift card with purchase of Xbox Kinect bundle this weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Jun 2011 18:20:00 EST. GoG.com has announced a big half-off sale on a bunch of older Interplay titles, allowing you to pick up some titles of serious quality for just a couple bucks apiece. There are <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/promo/interplay">some real gems in there</a>, including the <em>Descent</em> games, the classic <em>Giants: Citizen Kabuto</em>, <em>Fallout 1, 2</em> and <em>Tactics</em>, and the great <em>Sacrifice</em>, all for just $2.99 each.<br />
<br />
We'd be remiss as well if we didn't point out that the much-loved space combat game <em>Freespace</em> is <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/freespace_expansion">also on sale</a>, along <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/freespace_2">with its sequel</a>, for the same ludicrously low prices. Three bucks for a bunch of must-play titles from video gaming's days of yore? Deals don't get much better than that, people.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/21/gog-selling-interplay-titles-for-half-off-including-freespace-a/">GOG selling Interplay titles for half off, including Freespace and sequel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 Jun 2011 01:00:00 EST. The sequel to classic adventure game <em>Broken Sword</em>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/broken-sword-2-the-smoking-mirror"><em>The Smoking Mirror</em></a>, is <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/news/broken_sword_the_smoking_mirror_remastered_is_now_on_gog_com">now available in a remastered version</a> from GOG.com. We'd heard a while back that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/09/broken-sword-2-being-fixed-up-for-ios-release/">the game would be fixed up</a>, after a remastered version of the original game sold well, and indeed <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/broken-sword-the-smoking-mirror/id395483212?mt=8">the iOS version</a> has been out for a while. The newer versions of the game offer the same excellent gameplay along with new graphics, music, animation, voiceovers and a revised hint system.<br />
<br />
To celebrate, GOG is putting the whole <em>Broken Sword</em> series on sale, letting you pick up the first two remastered titles and the third game in the series (though not the fourth game, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_Sword:_The_Angel_of_Death"><em>Angel of Death</em></a>) for under $9. By itself, the remastered <em>Broken Sword 2</em> is $4.19, or $6.99 on iOS.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/31/broken-sword-2-remastered-now-available-for-pc-and-ios-on-sale/">Broken Sword 2 Remastered now available on GOG, on sale</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 31 May 2011 23:00:00 EST. Just in time for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/31/ds-lite-drops-to-99-on-june-5/">the recent price drop of the DS Lite</a>, Amazon is offering up <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=br_lf_m_1000693291_grlink_3?ie=UTF8&amp;plgroup=3&amp;docId=1000693291">a buy one, get one half off sale</a> on quite a few excellent DS and 3DS titles. Eight pages of DS titles are covered by the offer, including <em>New Super Mario Bros.</em>, <em>Okamiden</em> and <em>Professor Layton and the Unwound Future</em>. Among the 3DS games included in the sale, you'll find <em>Pilotwings Resort, Ridge Racer 3DS, Steel Diver, Super Monkey Ball 3D</em> and the <em>Nintendogs + Cats</em> games.<br />
<br />
The sale description warns that supplies for the sale are limited, and that Amazon may pull the sale at any time, so we don't know when it will all end. But it's a nice chance to expand your 3DS or DS library nonetheless.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/31/select-3ds-and-ds-titles-are-buy-one-get-one-half-off-on-amazon/">Select 3DS and DS titles are buy one, get one half off on Amazon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 31 May 2011 20:30:00 EST. "Not everyone's goal in life is to run a thousand person company," said Stardock founder Brad Wardell, who just today announced that he's sold the growing digital distribution arm of his company, Impulse, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/31/gamestop-indulges-in-some-impulse-buying-no-seriously-it-bo/">to GameStop for an undisclosed sum</a>. "Certainly the path of least resistance would have been to just grow with Impulse and become a digital retailer, but that's not what I signed up for."<br />
<br />
Impulse was originally started as a way for Stardock to distribute its own games and software digitally, and was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/17/stardock-launches-impulse-digital-distribution-system/">opened up three years ago</a> to other developers. Since then, it's grown to compete <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/20/stardock-steam-is-top-digital-distribution-earner-impulse-seco/">with the big player in digital distribution, Steam</a>. Wardell, speaking with Joystiq in an interview today, said that the growth in revenue actually became a cause for concern. "When Impulse became our number one source of revenue," said Wardell, "I realized it was time for us to look at our options there."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/31/stardocks-brad-wardell-talks-about-selling-impulse-to-gamestop/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Stardock's Brad Wardell talks about selling Impulse to GameStop</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/31/stardocks-brad-wardell-talks-about-selling-impulse-to-gamestop/">Stardock's Brad Wardell talks about selling Impulse to GameStop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 31 Mar 2011 20:00:00 EST. There's a pretty good sale running on Xbox Live right now. Starting today and running until April 4, the "<a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Promotion/ExtremeShopping">Extreme Shopping</a>" promotion has dropped prices on many Xbox Live Arcade games, DLC add-ons and Avatar items. Some of the highlights include <em>Alien Breed</em> episodes 1 and 2, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/monkey-island-2-special-edition-lechucks-revenge"><em>Monkey Island 2</em></a>, <em>Defense Grid</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/darwinia-plus"><em>Darwinia+</em></a>, <em>Doom 2</em> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/crazy-taxi"><em>Crazy Taxi</em></a> all for half price at 400 points ($5) each. <em>Costume Quest</em> can also be had at half price, 600 points ($7.50).<br />
<br />
Also up for grabs, all <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/halo-wars"><em>Halo Wars</em></a> DLC has been knocked down to 400 points, as has Red Dead Redemption's Undead Nightmare pack. Or, if you're feeling frisky, the entire Undead Nightmare Collection has been reduced to 1000 points ($12.50). Finally, MS will also be offering some special one-day deals on April 1, though exactly what those offers will be is a mystery for now.<br />
<br />
Oh, there's also a cheap Avatar Chewbacca costume. You know, in case you've been wanting one, or something. Hit the source link for all the current deals.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> As commenters have noticed, Major Nelson has <a href="http://majornelson.com/2011/03/29/coming-soon-to-the-xbox-live-marketplace/">posted</a> the one-day deals for Friday, April 1. They are:<br />
<ul>

		<em>Fallout: New Vegas</em> Dead Money Add-on 400 MS Points ($5)</li>
	<li>
		<em>Comic Jumper</em> 400 MS Points ($5)</li>
	<li>

Advanced ticket sales for the upcoming <a href="http://joystiq.com/gamescom-2011">Gamescom 2011</a> convention in Cologne, Germany <a href="http://www.gamescom-cologne.com/en/gamescom/fuer_alle/eintrittskartenneu/index.php">are now on sale</a>, so if you're planning to be in the area then (or have the money and time to flit over to the continent whenever you want -- lucky duck), you can see the sights for just a few Euros. <a href="http://www.gamescom-cologne.com/en/gamescom/fuer_alle/eintrittskartenneu/index.php">The cheapest day passes</a>, at just &euro;6 ($9), are for students and senior citizens, while standard passes are around &euro;10-15 ($14-21).<br />
<br />
Note that these tickets are for the public -- they'll let you in the "entertainment area" of the show, but the business side of the event is <a href="http://www.gamescom-cologne.com/en/gamescom/fuer_fachbesucher/gamescom_fuer_fachbesucher.php">only for trade and media attendees</a>. But that's no problem. You can still go over there and have yourself a big ol' <em>partyzeit</em> anyway. The convention kicks off on August 17, 2011.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/22/gamescom-2011-advance-tickets-on-sale-now/">Gamescom 2011 advance tickets on sale now</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Mar 2011 05:00:00 EST. Sales and deals no longer need to be relegated to the bookends of our working week -- Steam's breaking the mold with a "Midweek Madness" discount on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mafia-2"><em>Mafia 2</em></a>. From today until Thursday at 4 PM PST, the open-world crime drama is 75 percent off, knocking its price to a meager $7.50.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/09/mafia-2-is-three-quarters-off-on-steam-during-midweek-madness/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mafia 2 is three-quarters off on Steam during midweek madness</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/09/mafia-2-is-three-quarters-off-on-steam-during-midweek-madness/">Mafia 2 is three-quarters off on Steam during midweek madness</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Mar 2011 15:00:00 EST. Just one day after Chair's Donald Mustard <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/01/infinity-blade-update-coming-very-very-soon-chair-still-has/">promised</a> an <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/infinity-blade"><em>Infinity Blade</em></a> update "very, very soon," Epic has launched the update, entitled "The Deathless Kings." The free update packs in a new "Dungeon" environment, six more arenas, ten new enemies (including the Deathless Kings, of course), thirty new items and new achievements. It should go live on the App Store today.<br />
<br />
The update also includes a "New Game Plus" feature that "allows gamers to re-master any item, unlock new items in the store, and removes the level cap." Finally, the update also adds extra character slots, audio volume controls and the ability to adjust the size of the dodge button.<br />
<br />
To coincide with the update, Epic has reduced <em>Infinity Blade's</em> price to $3 -- half off -- through Sunday, March 6.<br />

<a href="http://store.thq.com/store/thq/en_US/list&amp;parentCategoryID=&amp;categoryID=54746400&amp;resultsPerPage=35">The official THQ online store</a> (which has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/12/thq-logo-revamped-for-a-new-focus-on-innovation-and-creativity/">the new logo</a> that's look like it's asking, "THQ?") is sporting some spiffy sales this weekend, offering some pretty great games for just a few bucks. The highlight of the sale is probably <em>Metro 2033</em>, which for the PC <a href="http://store.thq.com/store/thq/en_US/pd/Metro-2033/productID.167234300">is only $10</a>. But you can also find <a href="http://store.thq.com/store/thq/en_US/pd/Company-of-Heroes-Gold-Edition/productID.150091300"><em>Company of Heroes: Gold Edition</em> for only $7.50</a>, the underrated (I said it) <a href="http://store.thq.com/store/thq/en_US/pd/Darksiders/productID.186331700"><em>Darksiders</em> for $10</a>, and <a href="http://store.thq.com/store/thq/en_US/pd/Red-Faction-Guerrilla/productID.107081100"><em>Red Faction: Guerilla</em></a> and <a href="http://store.thq.com/store/thq/en_US/pd/Titan-Quest-Gold-Edition/productID.150121400"><em>Titan Quest: Gold Edition</em></a> for only $5 a piece.<br />
<br />
They're not all winners (hey there, <a href="http://store.thq.com/store/thq/en_US/pd/World-of-Zoo/productID.164227300"><em>World of Zoo</em></a>), but if you need to catch up on some PC titles, THQ (?) has you covered.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/05/thq-puts-pc-games-on-sale-including-metro-2033-darksiders-mor/">THQ puts PC games on sale, including Metro 2033, Darksiders, more</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 05 Feb 2011 21:00:00 EST. On the off chance you're still holding on to that holiday cash you got from Grandma (she loves you very much), you'll definitely want to <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=br_lf_m_1000652381_grlink_1?ie=UTF8&amp;plgroup=1&amp;docId=1000652381">check out the sale</a> currently going on at Amazon. It's pretty simple: Buy three games and you'll get the cheapest one free. Over 380 games are included in the sale, representing every major console. Highlights include <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/vanquish">Vanquish</a></em>, <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/need-for-speed-hot-pursuit">Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit</a></em>, <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dead-rising-2">Dead Rising 2</a></em>, <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/gran-turismo-5">Gran Turismo 5</a></em>, <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/ghost-trick-phantom-detective">Ghost Trick</a></em> and more.<br />
<br />
As a willpower exercise, head over to Amazon and try <em>not</em> to press that "add to cart" button.<br />
