"With the transition of the 'Value' PC business to Cosmi, our internal resources are now focused on our core video game portfolio where we can drive the highest quality performance and execution for our games," said THQ CEO Brian Farrell in the announcement. Though the sale price was not revealed, we can at least be confident that THQ has some internal resources to focus for a while, thanks to the Cosmi money.

Hardware doesn't frequently go on sale, so this is either a sign of things to come or simply a random promotion. No other major retailers have shifted the price of the console.

GameStop is also currently running a bundle deal on the PS Vita, offering a free game and case with purchase of the system.

We've contacted the company to find out if the sale is a one-off deal or it's here to stay. You know, E3 is only a little over a month away.

Update: The "limited promotion" sale ends April 26.

The Sunday Times doesn't list a source or means of obtaining this information, Bloomberg writes, but with Game's awkward economic happenings recently, this news doesn't come as either a shock or surprise.

Game hasn't been able to stock high-profile titles during recent launches, including Street Fighter X Tekken, Asura's Wrath, Ubisoft's Vita launch titles and Mass Effect 3, the last of which alone lost Game an estimated £2 million ($3.2 million). Game's market value sits at roughly £15 million ($23 million), MCV reports, meaning the lack of just one title, Mass Effect 3, generated a loss of one-seventh of Game's entire worth.

Chinese MMO developer Perfect World recently bought an equity interest in the studio, and Atari has now divested its own interest, meaning that Cryptic is in the hands of the same company that also owns a majority interest in Torchlight developer Runic Games.

Perfect World reportedly paid $49.8 million for the sale, and Atari says it will put $30.7 million of that total right back into its own debt, leaving the rest for investment in other deals and programs. Cryptic was working on Neverwinter, as well as developing content for Star Trek Online and the free-to-play Champions Online, but any other titles the company was working on with Atari are probably done for. We'll have to see just how the fate of these games plays out as Perfect World oversees things going forward.

Perfect World has said the purchase will use Cryptic's experience in the MMO space to "strengthen our well-established R&D capabilities," as well as "add [the aforementioned] attractive game titles to our portfolio."

To celebrate, GOG is putting the whole Broken Sword series on sale, letting you pick up the first two remastered titles and the third game in the series (though not the fourth game, Angel of Death) for under $9. By itself, the remastered Broken Sword 2 is $4.19, or $6.99 on iOS.

"Certainly the path of least resistance would have been to just grow with Impulse and become a digital retailer, but that's not what I signed up for."

Impulse was originally started as a way for Stardock to distribute its own games and software digitally, and was opened up three years ago to other developers. Since then, it's grown to compete with the big player in digital distribution, Steam. Wardell, speaking with Joystiq in an interview today, said that the growth in revenue actually became a cause for concern. "When Impulse became our number one source of revenue," said Wardell, "I realized it was time for us to look at our options there."

The cheapest day passes, at just €6 ($9), are for students and senior citizens, while standard passes are around €10-15 ($14-21).

Note that these tickets are for the public -- they'll let you in the "entertainment area" of the show, but the business side of the event is only for trade and media attendees. But that's no problem. You can still go over there and have yourself a big ol' partyzeit anyway. The convention kicks off on August 17, 2011.

The free update packs in a new "Dungeon" environment, six more arenas, ten new enemies (including the Deathless Kings, of course), thirty new items and new achievements. It should go live on the App Store today.

The update also includes a "New Game Plus" feature that "allows gamers to re-master any item, unlock new items in the store, and removes the level cap." Finally, the update also adds extra character slots, audio volume controls and the ability to adjust the size of the dodge button.

To coincide with the update, Epic has reduced Infinity Blade's price to $3 -- half off -- through Sunday, March 6.

But you can also find Company of Heroes: Gold Edition for only $7.50, the underrated (I said it) Darksiders for $10, and Red Faction: Guerilla and Titan Quest: Gold Edition for only $5 a piece.

They're not all winners (hey there, World of Zoo), but if you need to catch up on some PC titles, THQ (?) has you covered.
