"They don't have me directing <em>World of Warcraft</em> anymore," he told the site. "Because when I took the <em>Oz</em> job, they had to move on to another director. They had to start making it."<br /><br />Given that <em>Oz: The Great and Powerful</em> is due out next March, it stands to reason that Raimi's been off the WoW film for some time - and that the film may actually be in production. Blizzard has yet to comment publicly on the news, or to say who is replacing Raimi, but we've reached out for more info.<br /><br />News arose that Raimi was out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/07/world-of-warcraft-movie-on-ice-as-raimi-commits-to-disney-oz/">as early as October 2010</a>, when Deadline reported that Raimi was out (due to his <em>Oz</em> gig) and the <em>WoW</em> film was on hold. It appears that the information was accurate, though it's still unclear whether or not the <em>WoW</em> film has begun production.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/18/sam-raimi-off-world-of-warcraft-film-in-light-of-oz-the-great-a/">Sam Raimi off World of Warcraft film in light of Oz: The Great and Powerful</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Jul 2012 09:40:00 EST. At least, that'd be a reasonable story to believe - but Konami's saying it's all bunk.<br /><br />After (irresponsibly) tweeting ambiguous notes like, "Fake or real, we love a bit of speculation! ‪#ogre‬ ‪#mgs5," Konami's UK account directly clarified that, "Seriously, just in case the ‪#pinch‬ ‪#salt‬ hashtags weren't enough - the chap who claims to have set up the fake rumours has been in touch," as spotted by <a href="http://www.kotaku.com">Kotaku</a>'s Jason Schreier.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/project-ogre">Project Ogre</a> is Kojima's current in-development game, though few details are known about its theme, or gameplay, or ... well, much of anything regarding it. Kojima has also spoken of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-solid-5/">fifth Metal Gear Solid game</a>, though its unclear if development of that game is already underway.<br /><br />Whether or not the game was shown behind closed doors, Kojima was definitely at Comic-Con this past weekend, and he appeared to be showing <em>something</em> secret. Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski tweeted, "Just got pulled into a back room at Comic Con by @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN and showed some crazy new secret stuff. Wow." We're doing pretty much everything we can right here to not make a lurid joke.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/16/konami-calls-metal-gear-solid-5-comic-con-screens-fake-rumours/">Konami calls Metal Gear Solid 5 Comic-Con screens 'fake rumours,' denies secret reveal</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Jul 2012 10:23:00 EST. "We wouldn't rule out the possibility of other platforms later," he wrote. That is, while <em>Fortnite</em> will be "primary and first" on PC, it may not be exclusive to the platform forever.<br /><br />Given that <em>Fortnite</em> is built using UE4, it stands to reason that those "other platforms" won't be of the current generation (none of Microsoft's, Sony's, or Nintendo's current hardware can run UE4-based games). As in, "Here's a necklace of zombie ears," which might be a bit less disgusting if it weren't <em>a necklace of human ears</em>. San Diego Comic-Con attendees can snag the gruesome jewelry by rushing over to Activision's booth and (ugh) pre-ordering the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/06/the-walking-dead-becoming-an-fps-from-terminal-reality/">upcoming Terminal Reality-developed <em>Walking Dead</em> FPS</a>.<br /><br />Only the first 100 on-site pre-orders get the "extremely limited edition version of Daryl's 'walker ears' necklace," so, uh, don't rush if you don't want the super creepy necklace. We're kinda leaning toward that option, actually.<br /><br /><em>The Walking Dead</em> first-person shooter is getting its first big showing at SDCC 2012, but it won't be playable. Comic Con badges will not be required to enter the event, although what the event <em>actually is</em> still remains completely unknown, save for the fact that Sega's ultimate goal is to "make it a great time for Sonic fans of all ages." Last year's Sonic Boom centered mostly on Sonic Generations, prize giveaways and a musical performance by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crush_40">Crush 40</a>, the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEzXFuYN89k">greatest band in the world</a>.<br /><br />If we had to guess, we'd figure that this year's Sonic Boom will focus mostly on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/sonic-the-hedgehog-4-episode-2"><em>Sonic 4: Episode 2</em></a>, since that's the only pressing Sonic release on our immediate horizon. We'll be keeping our collective ear to the ground for more <strike>Crush 40 live show</strike> Sonic Boom 2012 news as it develops.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/04/prepare-yourself-for-sonic-boom-2012-at-sdcc/">Prepare yourself for Sonic Boom 2012 at SDCC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 04 Feb 2012 22:30:00 EST. <em>Tekken</em> project lead Katsuhiro Harada clearly hasn't been studying the finer points of the <em>Street Fighter</em> series he's currently collaborating on, as <em>Street Fighter</em> creative lead Yoshinori Ono surprises him with a flurry of shoryukens at multiple points in this bizarre SDCC short, promoting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-x-tekken"><em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em></a> (and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tekken-x-street-fighter">vice versa</a>, of course).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/22/tekken-lead-cannot-withstand-street-fighter-leads-furious-flurr/">Tekken lead cannot withstand Street Fighter lead's furious flurry of shoryukens</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Jul 2011 18:40:00 EST. If you don't mind hanging out in a Hard Rock establishment, you have an opportunity to play a bunch of unreleased games, including <em>Retro City Rampage</em>. In case it weren't abundantly clear from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/retro-city-rampage">our past coverage of <em>RCR</em></a>, we're big proponents of not just the game itself, but of the developer's dogged entrepreneurial spirit, so we wanted to make sure you knew about two chances this weekend to play it at Microsoft's Hard Rock-based Comic Con Xbox lounge. Extra convenient? No SDCC pass is required to attend.<br />
<br />
In between snacking on sliders and getting your 8-bit open-world on, you may also want to check out some of the other games available to play -- everything from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/orcs-must-die"><em>Orcs Must Die</em></a> to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-city"><em>Batman: Arkham City</em></a>, we're told. And before you head over, why not take a look through a brand new set of Comic-Con screens for <em>RCR</em>, just below? Details for the weekend can be found after the break.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/retro-city-rampage-san-diego-comic-con-2011/">Retro City Rampage (San Diego Comic Con 2011)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/retro-city-rampage-san-diego-comic-con-2011/#4313819"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/07/tisscr01f_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/retro-city-rampage-san-diego-comic-con-2011/#4313820"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/07/tisscr02f_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/retro-city-rampage-san-diego-comic-con-2011/#4313821"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/07/tisscr03f_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/retro-city-rampage-san-diego-comic-con-2011/#4313822"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/07/tisscr04f_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/retro-city-rampage-san-diego-comic-con-2011/#4313823"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/07/tisscr05f_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/22/retro-city-rampage-playable-at-comic-con-even-without-a-pass/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Retro City Rampage playable at Comic-Con, even without a pass</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/22/retro-city-rampage-playable-at-comic-con-even-without-a-pass/">Retro City Rampage playable at Comic-Con, even without a pass</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Jul 2011 15:30:00 EST. We've seen an awful lot of Link sporting goofy farmer clothes in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-legend-of-zelda-skyward-sword"><em>The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword</em></a>, but the latest trailer plays on key nostalgia factors. After waking up just in time to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/07/nintendo-teases-new-rhythm-heaven-mario-party-9-kirby-titles/">briefly appear</a> at Nintendo's E3 2011 press conference, Kirby will apparently be heading back to Dreamland in his forthcoming Wii appearance. In speaking with a Nintendo rep at this week's San Diego Comic Con, <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2011/07/21/kirby-wiis-actual-name-is/">Siliconera</a> heard that the none-too-subtly-named <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/kirby-wii"><em>Kirby Wii</em></a> will actually be named "Kirby Returns to Dreamland" when it arrives <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/12/nintendo-mass-announces-wii-ds-game-launch-dates/">this fall</a>.<br />
<br />
Nintendo has yet to confirm the title, but we expect we'll hear official word when the company decides to make a big release date announcement. And given how much we liked the game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/15/kirby-wii-preview-e3-2011/">when we played it</a> back at E3, here's hoping that announcement comes soon.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/21/report-kirby-wii-officially-named-kirby-returns-to-dreamland/">Report: Kirby Wii officially named 'Kirby Returns to Dreamland'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 21 Jul 2011 15:24:00 EST. Kicking off its San Diego Comic Con announcements, game publishing giant Activision today revealed two solid, very different release dates for two <em>hopefully solid</em>, very different games. First up, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/prototype-2"><em>Prototype 2</em></a> will surf victims' bodies into retail on April 24, 2012. A new trailer for next year's sequel is available just below the break, fresh from San Diego.<br />
<br />
Additionally, a new trailer for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/x-men-destiny"><em>X-Men Destiny</em></a> was released, which puts a September 27 launch date on the next project from Silicon Knights. Given the origin of both pieces of info, SDCC attendees should be aware that <em>X-Men Destiny</em> will be playable at this week's show, while "15-minute live stage presentations" for <em>Prototype 2</em> will be going off at the Activision booth.<br />
<br />
Still here? Sony's presence at this year's San Diego Comic Con is, like Qwark's chest, <em>large and complex</em>. Beyond bringing major retail releases like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/resistance-3"><em>Resistance 3</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/twisted-metal-2011"><em>Twisted Metal</em></a> for attendees to play, the publisher is showcasing a variety of wares from PSN indies like thatgamecompany's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/journey"><em>Journey</em></a> and Minority Games' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/papo-and-yo"><em>Papo &amp; Yo</em></a>.<br />
<br />
The company is hosting several presentations on a handful of its games -- everything from <em>Starhawk</em> to <em>Uncharted 3 -- </em>along with with the chance to play a variety of unreleased PlayStation titles. If that weren't enough, the construction of a full <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ratchet-and-clank-all-4-one"><em>Ratchet &amp; Clank: All 4 One</em></a> arcade cabinet specifically for SDCC 2011 should help to get you on board. Take an early peek at the cabinet in working order just below the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/19/sony-unveils-san-diego-comic-con-lineup-panels-crazy-arcade-ca/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sony unveils San Diego Comic Con lineup, panels, crazy arcade cabinet</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/19/sony-unveils-san-diego-comic-con-lineup-panels-crazy-arcade-ca/">Sony unveils San Diego Comic Con lineup, panels, crazy arcade cabinet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Jul 2011 15:53:00 EST. After first announcing the sequel earlier this year, Square-Enix has finally revealed when North Americans will be able to get their hands on <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-xiii-2"><em>Final Fantasy XIII-2</em></a>. The word comes from a <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/SquareEnixEmily/statuses/92978861385584641">Square-Enix Twitter account</a>, which announced the game will arrive in North America this coming January.<br />
<br />
Along with Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Dead Island and Wakfu, XIII-2 will also be playable at the San Diego Comic-Con later this week.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/18/final-fantasy-xiii-2-coming-to-north-america-in-january-playabl/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Final Fantasy XIII-2 coming to North America in January, playable at Comic-Con</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/18/final-fantasy-xiii-2-coming-to-north-america-in-january-playabl/">Final Fantasy XIII-2 coming to North America in January, playable at Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 18 Jul 2011 15:10:00 EST. The artists and writers at Marvel Comics display little inhibition when conjuring up fantastic worlds and alternate dimensions, but even they have a tough time imagining a universe in which you only buy a Capcom fighting game once. According to an unconfirmed report on comics blog <a href="http://thequarterbin.com/2011/07/15/ultimate-marvel-vs-capcom-3-mvc3-to-get-12-new-characters-in-budget-re-release/">The Quarter Bin</a>, next week's Comic-Con in San Diego (Earth-616) will host the announcement of "<em>Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em>."<br />
<br />
We know that <em>Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em> producer Ryota Niitsuma will share some news at a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/11/marvel-vs-capcom-3-producer-hosting-panel-at-comic-con/"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em> panel</a> on Saturday, and that Marvel Interactive will have its own panel to discuss several upcoming games, along with "some exciting new details about the future of <em>Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em>." Since Capcom's unlikely to comment before those panels take place, this rumor is hinged on the singling out of <em>MvC3 </em>over the franchise as a whole. (Another possibility: A PC or portable version of the same game.)<br />
<br />
Still, The Quarter Bin stakes its reputation on the assertion that Capcom will repeat its <em>Super Street Fighter IV</em> strategy and launch <em>Ultimate MvC3</em> at a discounted price ($39.99), with 12 extra characters added to the original roster. We remain skeptical of this rumor -- not only have we been unable to turn up any domain registrations for the title, but the Earth-616 Capcom would surely go for "<em>Penultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em>" first.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> As expected, Capcom gave us its standard response. "We do not comment on rumors or speculation."<br />
<br />
<strong>Update 2:</strong> It's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/20/ultimate-marvel-vs-capcom-3-lands-in-november-adds-strider-gh/">real</a>.<br />

Epic is planning an extra XP event for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><em>Gears of War 2</em></a> that will coincide with next week's San Diego Comic-Con, tied to producer <a href="http://twitter.com/GearsViking/status/18496246853">Rod Fergusson's Twitter account</a> -- and designed to promote it, of course. The more followers he gets, the more XP gamers can earn during the upcoming event.<br />
<br />
It's the second massive XP handout the game has received over the last few weeks, the previous being the title's big July 4 promotion event. It's no surprise: with the game's flagging community, online woes and stiff competition, Epic's needed to come up with something to get players back.<br />

It seems that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/38-studios">38 Studios</a>' plan to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/28/38-studios-denies-dec-2010-release-for-copernicus-plans-to-det/">detail its upcoming MMO</a> in 2010 isn't happening just yet, but 38 Studios-owned Big Huge Games will apparently show off its EA Partners-published RPG - codenamed "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Project-Mercury/">Project Mercury</a>" - at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. A <a href="http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci10_prog_thu.php">listing</a> among the legions of other presenters at Comic-Con was recently spotted by <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2010/07/08/project-mercury-to-premiere-at-san-diego-comic-con/">Big Download</a> with the description, "World premiere of the first game from 38 Studios!" The listing goes on to say that folks in attendance will "be among the first in the world to see the video game debut from Curt Schilling's 38 Studios," more specifically adding that Todd McFarlane, executive creator of worlds R. A. Salvatore, lead designer Ken Rolston, and founder and chairman Curt Schilling will be debuting the game for folks.<br />
<br />
Further, Comic-Con's site claims the panel will unveil more than just the first trailer, but also the project's <em>actual name</em>. And hey, if that's not enough, apparently you'll get a "limited-edition poster" just for showing up. Huzzah! The panel takes place at 1:15PM on Thursday, July 22, but we wouldn't suggest you start lining up just yet.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/08/38-studios-project-mercury-to-debut-at-san-diego-comic-con/">38 Studios' Project Mercury to debut at San Diego Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Jul 2010 15:20:00 EST. Worried you'd never get a collectible based on <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war">Gears of War</a></em> comic character Jace Stratton, a gentleman who has yet to put any face time into an actual <em>Gears of War</em> game series? Well <em>quit it</em>, worrywort! (You're only hurting yourself.) NECA recently told <a href="http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=139&amp;itemid=15851">Toy News International</a> that it'll be bringing Stratton -- and several <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bioshock-2">BioShock 2</a></em> figures -- to the upcoming 2010 San Diego Comic-Con International for sale in limited quantities.<br />
<br />
We'd love to tell you more about the <em>BioShock 2</em> figures, but we're not trying to ruin the end of the game for those of you who might still be wary of spoilers. You can have a look for yourself <a href="http://i.toynewsi.com/g/index.php?mode=album&amp;album=NECA/10_SDCC_Exclusives///&amp;dispsize=600&amp;start=0">right here</a>.<br />

Confirming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/15/dethgame-trademark-surfaces-for-game-based-on-metalocalypse/">our suspicions</a> of a forthcoming game based on Cartoon Network show <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metalocalypse"><em>Metalocalypse</em></a>, Konami is this week announcing its intentions to publish <em>Metalocalypse: Dethgame</em> for Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. The show's creator, Brendon Small, confirmed to the <a href="http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2009/07/20/4081/">Wall Street Journal</a> that he's been working with Konami to produce the upcoming downloadable title from developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/frozen-codebase">Frozen Codebase</a>. <br />
<br />
Rather than playing as <em>Metalocalypse</em>'s lead characters, Small says you'll be controlling a "band of roadies" fighting in honor of the show's fictional band, Dethklok. Konami will allegedly be announcing the game later this week at the San Diego Comic Con.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/konami-publishing-metalocalypse-dethgame-on-psn-xbla/">Konami publishing Metalocalypse: Dethgame on PSN, XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Jul 2009 19:45:00 EST. Capcom is issuing a call to all PSP-owning monster hunters, revealing that, if they bring their system and copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/monster-hunter-freedom-unite"><em>Monster Hunter Freedom Unite</em></a> to next week's San Diego Comic-Con, they'll be able to download eight free quests for the game. The company cautions those planning to do so that only six quests will fit on a memory stick (no file sizes are given), so you'd best bring a second MS Duo along just to be safe.<br /><br />Four of the eight quests are said to be geared toward beginner-level players; the other eight are intended for <em>Monster Hunter </em>vets. Capcom has remarked that these freebies will serve as a taste of what's to come from the game's upcoming DLC, which will hit the PS Store every Friday through the end of 2009. (DLC quests for the game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/03/weekly-monster-hunter-dlc-begins-today/">first became available</a> earlier this month.)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/15/download-free-monster-hunter-freedom-unite-quests-at-comic-con/">Download free Monster Hunter Freedom Unite quests at Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 18:00:00 EST. <div align="left">Capcom is bringing playable <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lost-planet-2">Lost Planet 2</a> </em>to San Diego Comic-Con. According to a <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/frankthetank/blog/2009/07/15/capcom_comiccon_09_lost_planet_2_">post on Capcom Unity</a>, the demo will allow four players to team up and (attempt to) take down one of the game's bosses, a giant salamander. Hey, that sounds like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/03/hands-on-lost-planet-2-xbox-360/">the same demo <em>we played </em>at E3</a>!<br /><br />Thing is, we didn't get the chance to win a much cuter, giant plush version of the beast after slaying it. Comic-Con attendees will get one, though, by way of a raffle, the tickets to which will be handed out to everyone who plays the game. Up for grabs are an unknown number of 18" and <em>3-foot long </em>cute-ifications of the boss monster. Capcom is also giving away one of the 3-footers via its blog for those who can't attend the big show. Details on that are in <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/frankthetank/blog/2009/07/15/capcom_comiccon_09_lost_planet_2_">the original post</a>.</div>

We're interested in seeing how the growing game publisher turnout will affect Comic-Con. The convention is already dominated by giant media companies, but, well, game publishers like Activision <em>really like</em> having giant, flashy showings at conventions. Seriously, Comic-Con, if you let these companies get comfortable, they <em>will</em> take over. Pretty soon, the <span style="font-style: italic;">Guitar Hero</span> games will outnumber the furry cosplayers.<br /><br />To look at it from a more positive perspective, if you're going to Comic-Con, you're going to get to play some free video games. Also, we hope you got your tickets, because they're <span style="font-style: italic;">sold out</span>. We've pulled every game publisher we could find in the exhibitors list, and listed them for you after the break. The Pok&eacute;mon Company is on the list only because Nintendo wasn't, and there's a <em>chance</em> the Pok&eacute;mon booth will have games and not just merchandise.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/24/game-publishers-continue-takeover-of-san-diego-comic-con/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Game publishers continue takeover of San Diego Comic-Con</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/24/game-publishers-continue-takeover-of-san-diego-comic-con/">Game publishers continue takeover of San Diego Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 24 Jun 2009 19:30:00 EST. If you're attending the <a href="http://www.comic-con.org/cci/index.php">San Diego Comic Con</a> and are a fan of all things <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3"><em>Halo 3</em></a>, then you'll likely be excited to hear that <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/toys-r-us">Toys R Us</a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/mcfarlane-toys">McFarlane Toys</a> are <a href="http://www.spawn.com/news/news6.aspx?id=13570">teaming up</a> to sell the exclusive figure you see above during the show. Only 6,000 of these Grifball bad boys (or girls, because you really don't know who's under that 200 billion-dollar suit of armor) are being sold at the show, and you can grab your own for $15. We suggest making this a priority stop, as the figure features a<span class="articletext" id="lblArticleText"> Bomb, Gravity Hammer, </span><span class="articletext" id="lblArticleText">Recon armor, </span><span class="articletext" id="lblArticleText">and Sword Hilt</span>, with the latter two being pretty big deals in the world of spinning space rings, we hear. Also, 6,000 isn't a lot when you consider 126,000 people attended the show last year.<br /><br />San Diego Comic-Con goes down from July 23-26 at the San Diego Convention Center.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/">Griffball Spartan from McFarlane Toys</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474614"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_06_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474613"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_05_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474612"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_07_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474611"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_04_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/griffball-spartan-from-mcfarlane-toys/#1474610"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/other_grifball_photo_03_dp_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/07/grab-your-own-grifball-spartan-at-san-diego-comic-con/">Grab your own Grifball Spartan at San Diego Comic Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Apr 2009 02:00:00 EST. There's a new PSP color coming soon: Metallic Blue. And it'll be available in the upcoming <em>Madden 09</em> Entertainment Pack, which includes the system, the game, a NFL documentary and a code to download <em>beats</em> off the PS Store. According to <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001A3DKGC/102-5777777-4084119?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=B001A3DKGC">amazon.com</a>, the system will be available on August 12th.<br /><br />Spencer from <a href="http://www.siliconera.com">Siliconera</a> snapped a few shots of the system in action over at San Diego Comic-Con for us (thanks!). Just like every other PSP, it has the uncanny ability to pick up fingerprints. Will you pick this baby up come August?<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/24/spotted-comic-con-blue-psp/">Spotted @ Comic-Con: Blue PSP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Jul 2008 15:00:00 EST. It's really real. Trust us.After making a debut at CES earlier this year, the GPS accessory disappeared off the face of the earth, with only vague promises that the device will be coming within the next <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/18/sony-iphone-not-a-threat-gps-coming-within-9-months/">nine months</a>. We don't know what the hold up is, but <a href="http://psp.ign.com/articles/893/893280p1.html?RSSwhen2008-07-24_002800&amp;RSSid=893280">IGN</a> spotted a working unit at San Diego Comic-Con. Of note, they saw that the device can give different directions based on whether you're in a car, bike or simply on foot. Can Sony please just release this thing already?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/24/spotted-comic-con-the-psp-gps-peripheral/">Spotted @ Comic-Con: the PSP GPS peripheral</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Jul 2008 12:00:00 EST. San Diego Comic-Con begins tomorrow, and attendees can expect tons of gaming. PlayStation will be in full force, and the public will be able to get their hands on upcoming PS3 games. For many, this will be their first opportunity to get their hands on games like <em>LittleBigPlanet</em>, <em>SOCOM Confrontation</em> and more.<br /><br /><a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/07/23/playstation-comic-con-%E2%80%93-starting-tomorrow/">PlayStation.blog</a> has all the info on first party games that will be showcased. However, that's not all gamers can find at Comic-Con. Namco Bandai will be showing off <em>Afro Samurai</em> to the public, Capcom will have <em>Street Fighter</em> events and tournaments. Attendees can speak with the Penny Arcade team, find out more about EA's <em>Dead Space</em> and see first footage of the upcoming <em>Resident Evil: Degeneration</em> movie.
