<p>With our shelves and Wii fridges creaking under the weight of new games from the holidays, Nintendo has generously given PAL gamers a week to catch their breath -- at least, we <em>think</em> that's the idea. Both WiiWare titles this week probably only appeal to a handful of people. The fifth and final episode of <em>Strong Bad Episode 5</em> is great, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/16/wii-fanboy-review-8-bit-is-enough/">obviously</a>, but only if you're in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/wii-warm-up-did-strong-bad-win-you-over/">teensy minority</a> who grabbed the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/16/review-strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people/">first four instalments</a>.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, <em>Fun! Fun! Minigolf</em> is allegedly <em>so fun</em> that maker Shin'en felt the need to tell us of its <em>fun-ness</em> twice over. But is a zany-looking chibi minigolf game really the title to stop us from getting our fingers <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/14/wii-fanboy-review-world-of-goo/">gooey</a>? Hint: no.</p>

Shed a tear, children, for the last and final episode of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/strong-bad"><em>SBCG4AP</em></a> has finally dropped on WiiWare. We found the best way to send the series off was, well, the same way we concluded each previous episode: review it. If you'd like to start at the beginning, we've included a link to the first episode's review below. Also know that we've touched up the older reviews and added buttons for easy navigation from one episode's review to the next. So, feel free to dive right in from the beginning below, or jump to the final episode's review.<br /><br />

We've reached the end of our journey, as <em>SBCG4AP</em> comes to a close with its final episode, <em>8-Bit is Enough</em>. It's a great way to conclude the series and easily the best episode of the bunch. If you're a gamer, then you're going to love the blatant fan service and all of the gaming references within this final episode.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/16/wii-fanboy-review-8-bit-is-enough/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii Fanboy Review: 8-Bit is Enough</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/16/wii-fanboy-review-8-bit-is-enough/">Wii Fanboy Review: 8-Bit is Enough</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Dec 2008 14:30:00 EST. If you bought the previous four and plan to buy <em>8-bit is Enough</em>, you'll have spent 5,000 Wii points. That's more or less the price of a full game, but the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/11/wii-fanboy-review-strong-bad-episode-1-homestar-ruiner/">reviews</a> suggest that it's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/15/wii-fanboy-review-strong-badia-the-free/">worth</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/28/wii-fanboy-review-baddest-of-the-bands/">the</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/17/wii-fanboy-review-dangeresque-3/">outlay</a>.<br /><br />As <em>Strong Bad</em> is still the only example of episodic gaming on WiiWare, we're curious about how the game fared. Did you buy just the first chapter, only to decide against purchasing future episodes, or will you be picking up all five? And if you've still not acquired a single chunk of this delightful game, did you try the <a href="http://www.homestarrunner.com/dangeresque.html">browser-based sampler</a> we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/03/europe-this-week-looks-dangeresque/">linked to</a> recently? If not, you should -- it's fun ... and <em>free</em>.<br /><br />In fact, let's make this feel official:<br /><br />

Europeans: it <em>looks like you're going to have to jump</em> ... over to the Wii Shop on Friday, in order to download <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/11/sbcg4aps-dangeresque-3-hits-wiiware-this-monday/"><em>Dangeresque 3: The Criminal Projective</em></a>, the penultimate episode of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sbcg4ap"><em>Strong Bad's Etc.</em></a> According to a press email, and this forum post by Telltale's Emily Morganti, Nintendo sent the company a notice that the adventure game would hit the PAL WiiWare service this week. <br /><br />Obviously, this is good news because <em>Dangeresque 3</em> is a game we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/17/wii-fanboy-review-dangeresque-3/">loved</a>, and we're happy that you'll get to share in the experience sooner or later. But more importantly, we're thrilled because this release announcement gives us an excuse to link to the browser-based <em><a href="http://www.homestarrunner.com/dangeresque.html">Dangeresque Roomisode 1: Behind the Dangerdesque!</a>,</em> which is a breathtakingly pixel-perfect tribute to vintage adventure games.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/03/europe-this-week-looks-dangeresque/">Europe: this week looks ... This week's WiiWare titles serve as a great example of the best and worst that the service has to offer.<br />
<ul>
    <li><span><em>Strong Bad Episode 4: Dangeresque 3</em> (Telltale Games, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points): Don't be confused by the subtitle, you didn't miss <a href="http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail80.html"><em>Dangeresque 1 </em>and <em>2</em></a>. After three <em>Strong Bad </em>episodes, you know what to expect. This time, dying is not on the menu ... again. <em>Dangeresque 3 </em>was originally set to debut June 2004 in 3D but was delayed for unspecified reasons.<br /></span></li>
    <li><span><em>Target Toss Pro: Bags</em> (</span><span>Incredible Technologies, 1-16 players, 700 Wii Points): It's no <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pong-toss"><em>(Beer) Pong Toss</em></a>, but paying $7 for a game simulating the tossing of a bean bag (known formerly as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bean_bag_toss">Cornhole</a> in parts of the country) is a bit ridiculous, especially when the price of building your own Cornhole game is considerably less. Just because there's some real-life arm swinging involved doesn't mean you can tack on a Wii remote and charge for it.<br /></span></li>

Following the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/11/wii-fanboy-review-strong-bad-episode-1-homestar-ruiner/">first</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/15/wii-fanboy-review-strong-badia-the-free/">second</a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/28/wii-fanboy-review-baddest-of-the-bands/">third</a> installments in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/strong-bad"><em>SBCG4AP</em></a>, I found myself wondering if the fourth episode could keep the pace of the first three. And it's pretty evident in the first few moments of the game that this is another episode that is setting the bar for humor a bit higher. Frankly, they gave me the whole tub of popcorn, but I only needed the edge.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/17/wii-fanboy-review-dangeresque-3/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii Fanboy Review: Dangeresque 3</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/17/wii-fanboy-review-dangeresque-3/">Wii Fanboy Review: Dangeresque 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Nov 2008 09:55:00 EST. Good news, fans of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sbcg4ap"><em>SBCG4AP</em></a>. Episode 4, <em>Dangeresque 3: The Criminal Projective</em>, will hit WiiWare this coming Monday, November 17th. If you've not checked out the previous 3 episodes, then you really need to get on that. We've had <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/11/wii-fanboy-review-strong-bad-episode-1-homestar-ruiner/">nothing</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/15/wii-fanboy-review-strong-badia-the-free/">but</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/28/wii-fanboy-review-baddest-of-the-bands/">fun</a> with those episodes and, like many of you, are looking forward to this Monday. <br /><br />Head into the gallery for some images from the upcoming episode, then cruise past the break for a trailer from <em>Dangeresque 3</em>. It's worth it, we assure you. Then (we're so demanding today!), keep an eye on <a href="http://www.dangeresque3.com/">this web site</a> for more <em>Dangeresque 3</em> goodies.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/11/sbcg4aps-dangeresque-3-hits-wiiware-this-monday/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SBCG4AP's Dangeresque 3 hits WiiWare this Monday</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/11/sbcg4aps-dangeresque-3-hits-wiiware-this-monday/">SBCG4AP's Dangeresque 3 hits WiiWare this Monday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Nov 2008 14:32:00 EST. As suspected, today sees <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/12/strong-badia-the-screens/">the release of <em>SBCG4AP's </em>second episode</a>, <em>Strong Badia the Free</em>. One of them is a WiiWare game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/01/more-great-vc-news-mega-man-1-2-earthworm-jim-2-rated/">we know little about</a>, and the other is an old NES game about a robotic boy that likes the color blue. <span style="font-style: italic;">OMG what is it?!</span><br /><br />Head past the break and find out!<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/15/retail-and-download-releases-for-the-week-of-september-15th/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Retail and download releases for the week of September 15th</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/15/retail-and-download-releases-for-the-week-of-september-15th/">Retail and download releases for the week of September 15th</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Sep 2008 08:58:00 EST. No, they aren't predicting the apocalypse or anything, but their future on the Wii seems almost certain. When asked if <em>SBCG4AP</em> sold more on the PC or Wii, they were quick to note that performance on Nintendo's system beat the PC. How was it to work with Nintendo? <br /><br />"Working with Nintendo's been pretty good," commented designer Mark Darin. "All the help that Nintendo's been giving us and allowing us the opportunity to be on WiiWare has been great for our company and great for getting titles like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/26/telltale-dishes-out-new-strong-bad-trailer-screens/"><em>SBCG4AP</em></a> out there to a new audience who maybe isn't used to Adventure games. It's been a great partnership with Nintendo so far." Telltale also goes on to talk about the system's hardware and what challenges that presented, as well as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sam-and-max"><em>Sam &amp; Max</em></a> on the console. <div align="left">TellTale, purveyors of all things pointy and clicky, were kind enough to have a natter with us on the PAX show floor. Designer, Mark Darin, and PR Manager, Emily Morgant, chat to us regarding developing for the Wii, how deals for the <em>Sam and Max, Homestar Runner </em>and <em>Wallace and Gromit</em> franchises came about and plans for the future. Hint: we won't be finding out about any more TellTale products for a little while. </div>
</div>
<br /><strong>Are there any plans to bring any of TellTale's properties on to XBLA or PSN?</strong><br /><br />Mark: Start with the hard questions! I don't really have too many answers to that. I know that we're looking to get on as many platforms as we can. We're talking to people about opportunities but no solid plans right now. <br /><br />Emily: I would add to that that when we announced that we coming out with a WiiWare game and it was already in production and that it would be coming out a few months later, everybody was very surprised. We do things and don't talk about them.<br /><br /><strong>How has your experience been with Nintendo's platform versus the PC?</strong><br /><br />Mark: Working with Nintendo's been pretty good. Actually our production process is kind of streamlined and our TellTale Tool is created to work well with multiple systems. So for us there's really no bottleneck, it's the same as working on the PC environment. All the help that Nintendo's been giving us and allowing us the opportunity to be on WiiWare has been great for our company and great for getting titles like <em>SBCG4AP</em> out there to a new audience who maybe isn't used to Adventure games. Inspired by sages such as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Ten_list_%28David_Letterman%29">David Letterman</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Fidelity_%28film%29">John Cusack</a>, the Top 5 will give us a chance to share our opinions on the numerous facets of a vast video game culture. And after all, who doesn't like reading these kinds of lists (and then bitching about them afterwards)? So jump right in, agree or disagree, and maybe leave a comment with your own personal Top 5. <br /><br /> The first batch of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/wiiware/">WiiWare</a> was released awhile ago, and there have been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/20/wii-fanboy-review-dr-mario-and-germ-buster/">high-profile</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/10/wii-fanboy-review-my-pokemon-ranch/">releases</a>, as well as a few <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/13/wii-fanboy-review-lostwinds/">future</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/22/wii-fanboy-review-toki-tori/">cult-classics</a>. Despite the plentiful start, there are still <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/02/one-hundred-wiiware-games/">many more titles</a> on the horizon. Here's a look at what we are anticipating the most. <br /> <br /> <strong>5. <em>Bomberman </em>-</strong> Since 1983, not much has changed in the <em>Bomberman</em> universe. This has its pros and cons. It's good because the basic <em>Bomberman</em> formula is not one that needs <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/bombermanactzero">tinkering with</a>. It's bad because, well, it's a little ridiculous to shell out full retail price for the same game generation after generation. Then along comes <em>Bomberman</em> for WiiWare. Nintendo's downloadable service is the perfect platform for a game such as this. With online multiplayer for 2 - 8 players, this release should be everything we need out of <em>Bomberman</em>: simple, classic gameplay for a reasonable price. The reduced cost should be wonderful news for wallets that were unfortunate enough to weather <em>Bomberman, Super Bomberman, Bomberman 64,</em> and <em>Bomberman Generation</em>. <br /> <br /></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/07/top-5-anticipated-wiiware-games/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Top 5: Anticipated WiiWare Games</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/07/top-5-anticipated-wiiware-games/">Top 5: Anticipated WiiWare Games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Jul 2008 14:00:00 EST. <div align="left"><br />Hey there, pretty people -- you might be interested in hearing the latest news about Telltale's upcoming WiiWare series, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/11/nms08-strong-bads-cool-trailers-for-attractive-people/" style="font-style: italic;">Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People</a>. As for the rest of you uglies, just movie on -- there's nothing to see here. (If you're perusing Wii Fanboy, you're clearly hot stuff, so don't worry and read on.)<br /><br />Telltale reports that the first episode of the game, titled "Homestar Ruiner," centers around Strong Bad's desire to pummel Homestar Runner. He then decides that the best way to beat his rival would be to defeat him in the tri-annual Race to the End of the Race.<br /><br />You can check out the video of "Homestar Ruiner" above, although it doesn't show too much gameplay. Occasionally, it looks like you have to choose something from a thought bubble in order to progress the story, but often there's only one item to choose from. Joystiq <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/15/nms08-joystiq-gets-their-hands-dirty-with-wiiware/"><em>did</em> report</a> that the demo for <span style="font-style: italic;">SBCG4AP</span> was pretty linear, but hopefully the episode in its entirety will have more to offer.<br /><br />We've also added some new game screens to our gallery, which feature some beloved characters from the Homestar Runner-verse, so be sure to check them out.<br /><br />
<br />[Via press release; also, thanks fco!] </div>

Yet, Telltale finally announced their oh-so-secret WiiWare game, which will feature everyone's favorite Homestar Runner mascot. Titled <em>Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People</em>, this series will consist of five episodes that will come out on a monthly basis. (As it turns out, the "actual gameplay footage" at the end of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/03/strong-bad-gives-safety-tips-for-playing-wii/">Strong Bad Gameways video</a> <span style="font-style: italic;">is</span> actual gameplay footage!)<br /><br />Like <em>Sam &amp; Max</em>, this game will be in the adventure genre, involving humor, puzzles, and point-and-click goodness. Telltale has also added some neat time-wasting extras, like checking Strong Bad's emails, making prank phone calls, and playing arcade games styled after the ones on Homestar Runner's <a href="http://www.homestarrunner.com/">site</a>.<br /><br />Between bringing this and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/04/sam-and-max-coming-to-wii-after-all/"><em>Sam &amp; Max </em>to the Wii</a>, we're <em>so</em> in love with Telltale right now. If you're excited, too, make sure to check out the official webpage for <em>SBCG4AP</em>, which <em>just </em>went <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/strongbad">live</a> (and has a gameplay trailer!).<br /><br />(<strong>Note:</strong> Sorry for the delay in putting this news up; we were waiting for Telltale to release assets for the game first, to make this post as thorough as possible.)<br /><br />
<br /><br />[Via press release; also, thanks to everyone who sent this in!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/10/telltale-brings-strong-bad-to-attractive-people/">Telltale brings Strong Bad to attractive people</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Apr 2008 19:10:00 EST. After a delay of a few hours, Telltale Games has <a href="http://www.telltalegames.com/strongbad#">launched the website</a> for <em>Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People</em>. In addition to F.A.Q., the site features a trailer for the game that shows off the game but provides few details -- it's in 3D, it features the normal characters and locations, and Homestar thinks the Wii remote is a candy bar.<br /><br />Looking for more video teasers? Homestar Runner is featuring <a href="http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbcg4ap.html">its own trailer</a>, albeit without any in-game footage. The <em>SBCG4AP </em>site also has a video parody of the Wii safety measures. <em>Strong Bad's </em>episodic debut is coming "exclusively to WiiWare (and also PC)" in June.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people/">Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people/#856819"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/strong-bad-61108-08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people/#856818"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/strong-bad-61108-07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people/#856817"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/strong-bad-61108-06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people/#856816"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/strong-bad-61108-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people/#856815"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/06/strong-bad-61108-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/10/strong-bad-cool-games-for-attracive-peope-trailer-website-launc/">Telltale launches Strong Bad site, trailers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Apr 2008 19:00:00 EST.
