"So that's our release date," art director Gavin Moore concluded after showing me a promotional trailer.<br /><br /><em>Puppeteer</em> is the story of a boy-turned-wooden-puppet on a quest to vanquish the evil Moon Bear King, played out entirely on a single stage. As players progress from one area to the next, the settings of the stage change in real time.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/25/puppeteer-pulls-ps3s-strings-september-10/">Puppeteer pulls PS3's strings September 10</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Mar 2013 22:43:00 EST. Six new images, separated into dry and wet pairs, demonstrate the breadth of emotion and action <em>Rain </em>hopes to achieve.<br /><br />The first set of images come with the <a href="http://www.jp.playstation.com/scej/title/rain/gallery.html">tagline</a>, "Sometimes rain reflects loneliness." The second reads, "Sometimes rain brings melancholy," and the third pair says, "Sometimes rain soaks through the heart." We'd like to add that rain also helps flowers grow. Check out all of the images in the gallery below.<br /><br />[Thanks, Roger!]<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rain-0/">Rain</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rain-0/#5742015"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/galleryimg01s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rain-0/#5742016"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/galleryimg01r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rain-0/#5742017"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/galleryimg02s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rain-0/#5742018"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/galleryimg02r_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rain-0/#5742019"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/03/galleryimg03s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/17/sonys-rain-shows-its-invisible-world-in-a-downpour-of-picture/">Sony's 'Rain' shows its invisible world in a downpour of pictures</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 17 Mar 2013 18:00:00 EST. For <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/keiji-inafune">Keiji Inafune</a>, creator of the Mega Man series and the <em>brainnnnnz</em> behind the upcoming zombie action game, <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/yaiba">Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z</a></em>, that fundamental game is <em>The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past</em> for the Super Nintendo. As important games go, we'd agree that <em>Link to the Past</em> is definitely on the list (and handily available on <a href="http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/5oMtHuB3aOHoawfC6brZ6myQYnE4flQ_">Virtual Console</a>).<br /><br />Meanwhile, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/hiroshi-kawano">Hiroshi Kawano</a>, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, picked <em>Crash Bandicoot</em>, which was conveniently (perhaps <em>too conveniently</em>) just released as a PSOne Classic for the PlayStation Vita. While it may not be the game many would have picked, it certainly has a memorable spot in PlayStation history, especially considering its developer, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/naughty-dog">Naughty Dog</a>, went on to create the phenomenal Uncharted series.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/26/keiji-inafunes-favorite-game-is-zelda-a-link-to-the-past/">Keiji Inafune's favorite game is Zelda: A Link to the Past</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 26 Sep 2012 14:30:00 EST. Beyond being the president and CEO of Sony Corporation (the umbrella parent company of PlayStation, Bravia, and many other Sony brands), Hirai is also "representative director" and "chairman" - until today, that is. Hirai is relinquishing his responsibilities and titles for both his positions as representative director and chairman of Sony Corp.<br /><br />Hirai is dropping both titles and responsibility in today's move, only remaining on Sony's board in a "part-time capacity." He became president and CEO earlier this year, taking over former CEO Howard Stringer's spot <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/01/sony-appoints-kaz-hirai-to-prez-and-ceo-replacing-sir-howard-st/">in early February</a>. Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House is taking over the vacated chairman position, effective this month, and former Sony Corp. head Howard Stringer is also exiting his board seat.<br /><br />In case the bizarre-looking hierarchy isn't clear enough, this means that Andrew House - the guy who runs the PlayStation brand - is the head of Sony Corp.'s board, followed by eight Japan-based Sony Corp. employees. One of those is <em>his boss</em>, Kaz Hirai. <em>Yup</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/27/kaz-hirai-drops-some-titles-at-sony-still-president/">Kaz Hirai drops some titles at Sony, still president</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 27 Jun 2012 09:50:00 EST. <br />
	For us suckers in North America, the PlayStation Vita is still just a distant object of desire. For the Japanese, though, the Vita is already a couple days into its life, but apparently it's got some ... issues. Our tech savvy brethren at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/19/sony-issues-appology-and-software-update-for-first-batch-of-vita/">Engadget</a> are reporting that some users are experiencing "software bugs, unresponsive touchscreens and complete system freezes," resulting in many taking to social media to voice frustration.<br />
	<br />
	Sony, as it turns out, is listening, already issuing a software update and penning an apology letter. The video above showcases some of the Vita's problematic issues, and it should at very least help you to sympathize with your Japanese equivalent's frustration. The letter, well, it's in Japanese, and it's kinda non-specific, so you may wanna skip that part. Regardless, with any luck, said issues will be ironed out by the time Vita arrives on US shores <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/18/playstation-vita-to-launch-in-north-america-on-february-22/">on February 22</a>. Here's hoping, anyway.<br />
	<br />
	<strong>Update:</strong> Sony UK <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/21/sony-uk-no-evidence-of-widespread-glitches-among-japanese-vit/">counters this report</a> and others, saying the company, "can't find any evidence of widespread glitches."<br />

The real news, of course, is that Sony is publicly promising <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-last-guardian"><em>The Last Guardian</em></a> will be finished ... at some point. The respected creative force behind the project, Fumito Ueda, is "committed to completing" his third major game with Sony on a contract basis. Sony confirmed his departure with <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/39100/Confirmed_Ico_Creator_Fumito_Ueda_Leaves_Sony.php">Gamasutra</a>, concluding a swirl of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/30/rumor-the-last-guardian-lead-fumito-ueda-quits-sony-working-as/">rumors</a> from last month.<br />
<br />
<em>The Last Guardian</em> has yet to receive a solid release date after being bumped <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/20/the-last-guardian-ico-and-shadow-of-the-colossus-collection-del/">out of holiday 2011</a>. "I sincerely apologize to all the customers who have been waiting for 'The Last Guardian' for so long, but I beg for your patience," Ueda said in April. "I will also announce the new release timing at a later time."<br />
<br />
The game's other notable <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/07/last-guardian-executive-producer-resigns-joins-bossa-studios/">departure</a>, Executive Producer Yoshifusa Hayama, has joined social gaming studio Bossa Studios. Ueda hasn't provided a clear indication of his post-<em>Guardian</em> future yet, giving us enough time to envision dream team-ups with Grasshopper Manufacture's Suda 51, or Shinji Mikami at the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/28/shinji-mikami-to-develop-games-for-bethesda-as-zenimax-acquires/">Zenimax-owned Tango</a>. Sony <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/13/sony-looking-into-umd-download-discount-for-vita-hedging-about/2">realizes</a> that you, Japanese PlayStation Portable owner, want to keep playing your UMD version of<em> Nano Diver</em> when the PlayStation Vita <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/14/vita-launches-in-japan-on-december-17th/">launches on December 17</a>. The Japanese electronics giant last night announced its "UMD Passport" program, wherein PSP owners can download a free application to register their UMD games and receive a discount on repurchases of said games through the Vita's digital distribution store.<br />
<br />
The repurchase price varies from game to game, but it averages between 500 and 1,000 yen ($6 to $13), going as high as &yen;2,400 ($31). And to get a jump on the conversion process, Sony will be releasing the PSP app on December 6. It's unclear whether the Passport program will arrive Stateside or in Europe when the Vita launches early next year in other territories, but we expect Sony will reveal as much in the coming months.<br />
<br />
The initial titles included in the program are <a href="http://www.jp.playstation.com/psvita/compatibility/umd/title/">detailed by Sony here</a>, and the company apparently intends on expanding it to approximately 200 games.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/11/umd-passport-application-moves-umd-based-psp-games-to-the-vita/">'UMD Passport' application moves UMD-based PSP games to the Vita (for a price)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Nov 2011 08:10:00 EST. After a harrowing flight and about fifty trains across the Tokyo metropolitan area, we've arrived at Sony's Tokyo Game Show 2011 press conference and we're ready to kick off the livebloggening. Sure, you've already shed <em>dozens</em> of sympathy tears over <em>Ico</em> and <em>Shadow of the Colossus</em>, but have you ever shed tears of joy from the sheer beauty of the games, now updated to high-def? As Sony's forced PlayStation Network and Qriocity outages continue, stretching into what is officially Day 6, the company issued a very <em>un-</em>update to would-be users this morning: "Unfortunately, I don't have an update or timeframe to share at this point in time," said corp. comm. director Patrick Seybold on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/04/25/psn-update/">PlayStation Blog</a>. "As we previously noted, this is a time intensive process and we're working to get them back online quickly."<br />
<br />
Speaking to <a href="http://www.pcworld.com/article/226162/Sony_Yet_to_Determine_Scope_of_PlayStation_Network_Attack.html">PCWorld</a>, SCEJ spokesperson Satoshi Fukuoka clarified that a "thorough investigation" was ongoing into what the company has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/23/psn-outage-due-to-external-intrusion/">characterized</a> as an "external intrusion" into its system, which prompted the service suspensions. More troubling than any frustration caused by downtime over this past weekend, however, is the continued uncertainty about the extent of the attack. According to Fukuoka, Sony had yet to determine if users' personal information or credit card numbers had been accessed by the apparent hackers. If that's found to be the case, he assured, Sony would promptly inform those potentially affected.<br />
<br />
On Saturday, Seybold <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/23/psn-outage-due-to-external-intrusion/">noted</a> that "additional security" would be put in place before the services relaunch, calling this "re-building" effort both "time-consuming" and "necessary."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/25/sony-still-investigating-scope-of-psn-attack-as-maintenance-outa/">Sony still investigating scope of PSN attack as maintenance outage enters Day 6</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Apr 2011 12:45:00 EST. Sony's Japanese arm has <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20110404-714785.html">told the Wall Street Journal</a> that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/04/tretton-japan-earthquake-may-push-ngp-out-of-2011-in-some-regio/">earlier reports</a> suggesting Japan's recent earthquake would delay the release of the NGP in some territories -- including comments made by SCEA president Jack Tretton -- were outright "wrong."<br />
<br />
Company rep Satoshi Fukuoka said it expects "no impact from the quake on our launch plan," and that while that plan still calls for the device to arrive later this year, Sony has never said it would launch simultaneously in Asia, North America and Europe.<br />

Sony will, however, continue to monitor the situation in the earthquake- and tsunami-ravaged region and alter its plans if necessary.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/06/sony-japan-denies-any-earthquake-related-ngp-delays/">Sony Japan denies any earthquake-related NGP delays</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 Apr 2011 20:00:00 EST. One of the main reasons <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/gran-turismo-5">Gran Turismo 5</a></em> has been in development for <em>so, so long</em> is because Polyphony Digital has packed it to the gills with content, and that includes the race track creator demonstrated after the break. Just think of the all the <em>Mario Kart</em> levels you could repurpose for the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/19/gran-turismo-5-course-maker-and-kart-racing-unveiled/">kart races</a> ...<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/15/gran-turismo-5-course-creation-tools-demonstrated-on-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Gran Turismo 5 course creation tools demonstrated on video</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/15/gran-turismo-5-course-creation-tools-demonstrated-on-video/">Gran Turismo 5 course creation tools demonstrated on video</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Nov 2010 13:45:00 EST. Alongside today's news that <em>Gran Turismo 5</em> retail discs have begun <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/08/gran-turismo-5-retail-discs-spotted-in-europe/">popping up in Europe</a> comes a video detailing the game's entire Trophy list, minus three "Hidden" Trophies. Czech site <a href="http://ps3trofeje.konzolista.cz/hry/gran-turismo-5_1152.html">Konzolista</a> has the whole shebang, backed up by a clip found on <a href="http://www.gtplanet.net/complete-gran-turismo-5-trophy-list-revealed/">GT Planet</a>.<br />
<br />
Rather than detailing the Trophies, we're gonna leave it to you to choose -- the clip has been embedded after the break and contains potential spoilers (albeit, seemingly minor ones). You've been warned!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/08/gran-turismo-5-trophies/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Gran Turismo 5's full Trophy list revealed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/08/gran-turismo-5-trophies/">Gran Turismo 5's full Trophy list revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 Nov 2010 17:00:00 EST. Over the weekend, a handful of tipsters sent <em>Gran Turismo</em> fansite <a href="http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5-retail-disc-revealed/">GT Planet</a> photos of what appeared to be retail versions of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/gran-turismo-5">Gran Turismo 5</a></em>. The photographic evidence began to pile up, and it seems that some gamer <em>slash</em> gearheads in Europe are already playing the game -- this is, of course, after the game was delayed to an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/13/gran-turismo-5-delayed-still-coming-this-holiday-season/">unknown release date</a>. Additionally, the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/08/gran-turismo-5-trophies/">entire Trophy list</a> has been revealed, adding fuel to the fire.<br />
<br />
At the very least, this confirms <em>GT5</em> director Kazunori Yamauchi's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/02/yamauchi-insists-gran-turismo-5-discs-being-made-as-we-speak/">statement</a> about discs for the game already being in production, though it doesn't put us any closer to knowing when exactly the game will finally arrive at retail. Will <em>GT5</em> follow the path of the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_saturn">Sega Saturn</a> and simply become available "right now," whenever the publisher deems it so? It certainly seems possible as of this report. But then, we all know how well that went for Sega's game console.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/08/gran-turismo-5-retail-discs-spotted-in-europe/">Gran Turismo 5 retail discs spotted in Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 Nov 2010 15:40:00 EST. There's been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/06/white-ps3-slim-larger-hard-drives-offered-in-japan/">White PS3s</a> released before, sure. And 320GB hard drives? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/17/sony-announces-160gb-and-320gb-ps3-models-for-europe/">You bet</a>. But together? That's a first! As seen on Sony Japan's <a href="http://www.jp.playstation.com/ps3/320gb/">official website</a>, the "classic white" 320GB HDD-equipped model will sell for &yen;34,980 ($410; same MSRP as the <a href="http://www.amazon.co.jp/PlayStation-3-320GB-%E3%83%81%E3%83%A3%E3%82%B3%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AB%E3%83%BB%E3%83%96%E3%83%A9%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF-CECH-2500B/dp/B003UTTNH4/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1284647141&amp;sr=8-1-fkmr1">black 320GB</a>) and comes with a single, matching DualShock 3.<br />
<br />
Also being introduced today is a "white/blue" alternating-colors PSP. Though it won't be shipping with any games, this model <a href="http://www.jp.playstation.com/info/release/nr_20100916_psp_color.html">visually contrasts</a> the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/30/god-of-war-ghost-of-sparta-special-edition-psp-revealed/">red and black </a><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/30/god-of-war-ghost-of-sparta-special-edition-psp-revealed/">God of War</a></em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/30/god-of-war-ghost-of-sparta-special-edition-psp-revealed/"> PSP</a> (which is also being released in Japan sans <em>God of War</em>). Both color options go on sale November 18 for &yen;17,800 ($208).<br />
<br />
Neither the White PS3 Slim nor the blue/white PSP has been announced for North American release, but we're hoping the folks at SCEA realize that North Americans like clean design choices too!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/16/white-320gb-ps3-coming-to-japan-october-21/">White 320GB PS3 coming to Japan October 21</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Sep 2010 10:50:00 EST. Demo-demo-demo! That's what we imagine you'll be screaming to yourself as you download the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/patapon-3"><em>Patapon 3</em></a> demo from PSN this upcoming Tuesday. To make things even better, the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/07/02/coming-to-psn-patapon-3-multiplayer-demo-for-psp/">PlayStation Blog</a> informs us that it's a multiplayer demo -- a sampling of the internet-based functionality that will be included in the franchise's third installment.<br />
<br />
Now, before you ask, the demo isn't exclusive to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/playstation-plus">PlayStation Plus subscribers</a>, so one and all looking for their taste can get it. Clear up some space on your Memory Stick -- you're going to want to check this out on Tuesday, July 6.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/02/patapon-3-multiplayer-demo-moves-to-the-beat-next-week/">Patapon 3 multiplayer demo moves to the beat next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 02 Jul 2010 23:00:00 EST. Level-5's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/white-knight-chronicles"><em>White Knight Chronicles</em></a> may have had some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/04/review-white-knight-chronicles/">issues</a>, but it's not stopping the company from pursuing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/09/time-to-start-waiting-for-white-knight-chronicles-2/">a sequel</a>, set to be released in Japan next month. It would seem the series is also extending to Sony's PSP, as the latest issue of Japanese mag <em>Famitsu</em> (via <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/06/30/white_knight_psp/">Andriasang</a>) reveals a PSP entry set for a 2011 launch.<br />
<br />
While <em>White Knight Chronicles 2</em> wraps up the story of Leonard and the events set in motion by the first game, the PSP game will introduce a new story and characters. In the five years since the <em>Bleach: Heat the Soul</em> franchise began, Sony has managed to create seven games, all exclusively for the PSP. Considering <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bleach"><em>Bleach</em></a> is a relatively popular anime series in America, we're dumbfounded by Sony's continued refusal to bring a single one of these games over to America.<br />
<br />
The seventh iteration of the popular fighting game franchise will add four-player battles, according to a report by <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2010/04/13/youre-going-to-fight-giants-in-bleach-heat-the-soul-7/">Siliconera</a>. Perhaps taking a page from <em>Monster Hunter</em>'s tremendous success, you'll be able to fight "giant enemies," something that will most likely require the use of the newly added four-player mode.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/14/bleach-heat-the-soul-7-revealed-still-not-leaving-japan/">Bleach: Heat the Soul 7 revealed, still not leaving Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Apr 2010 10:45:00 EST. Known as <em>Million Ton Barabara </em>in Japan and the work of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/09/holy-trademark-nis-badman-games-to-be-renamed/"><strike><em>Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!</em></strike></a> <em>What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord?!</em> dev Acquire, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/20/million-ton-barabara-getting-localized-as-patchwork-heroes/">Patchwork Heroes</a> </em>is hands-down the coolest-looking PSP game about sawing up giant airships we're ever seen. Okay, so it's the <em>only </em>game of the type we've ever seen -- viva la originality! Sony has announced that we'll all get to experience the (we hope) joys of dismantling flying war machines tomorrow, Thursday March 4, when a demo of <em>Patchwork Heroes</em> hits PlayStation Network as part of the service's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psn-thursday">usual weekly update</a>. It all goes well, it should fulfill our weird 'n wacky gameplay needs through the entire weekend.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/03/sony-puts-together-patchwork-heroes-demo-for-mar-4/">Sony puts together Patchwork Heroes demo for March 4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 03 Mar 2010 18:30:00 EST. Corporate synergy keeps the late "King of Pop" alive, as various divisions of Sony conspire for a special <a href="http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/100106ae.html"><em>This Is It</em></a> PS3 bundle. The &yen;33,500 ($365) Japan-only set releases January 27 and comes with a Blu-ray movie of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/michael-jackson">Michael Jackson</a>'s behind-the-scenes concert film, along with a 120GB black PS3 Slim. No word if this bundle will come with a white PS3 later.<br />
<br />
So, let's get this straight: Japan gets a Michael Jackson PS3 bundle, while the US is "blessed" with a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/24/new-hannah-montana-psp-bundle-includes-lilac-psp/">Hannah Montana PSP</a> pack? That's bad, come on, you know that's bad. And the whole world has to answer right now, just to tell us once again: that's bad!<br />

Japan Studios has had little impact on the PlayStation software library this generation. The platform's greatest hits so far have, instead, come from America and Europe. Titles like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted"><em>Uncharted</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/killzone"><em>Killzone</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ratchet-and-clank"><em>Ratchet &amp; Clank</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resistance"><em>Resistance</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/god-of-war"><em>God of War</em></a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wipeout"><em>WipEout</em></a> all come from various studios at SCEA and SCEE. But what has Japan Studio created thus far? <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/tag/siren"><em>Siren</em></a>, <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/tag/trash-panic"><em>Trash Panic</em></a>, and <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/tag/eye-of-judgment"><em>The Eye of Judgment</em></a> -- noteworthy games perhaps, but hardly a collection of system-selling blockbusters.<br /><br />Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida explained to <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/4179/sonys_software_strategy_shuhei_.php">Gamasutra</a> that "their focus was shifted onto the PSP, which reflects the success of the PSP as a platform in Japan ... It's completely opposite of the way how US and European teams moved onto working on the PS3 and we see the fruits of those efforts, while Japan studios shifted their focus onto the PSP." Of course, handheld owners have much to be thankful for: system-defining hits like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/patapon"><em>Patapon</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/locoroco"><em>LocoRoco</em></a> were created out of Japan Studio's dedication to the platform.<br /><br />However, the next year (and beyond) should be very different for Sony's Japanese developers. With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-last-guardian"><em>The Last Guardian</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gran-turismo-5"><em>Gran Turismo 5</em></a> coming from Sony's other Japanese studios, the pressure is on for other developers to follow suit. "We are now re-energizing teams and coming up with new ideas for PS3 development," Yoshida said. "We'll be able to show fruits of this work sometime next year."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/02/sonys-japan-studio-urged-to-create-more-ps3-games/">Sony's Japan Studio urged to create more PS3 games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 02 Nov 2009 13:30:00 EST. So, we were right! When we reported about Trophies and DLC for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-last-guy/"><em>The Last Guy</em></a> a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/15/the-last-guy-not-on-his-last-mission-dlc-trophies-and-blu-ray-hi/">few weeks ago</a>, we just knew we'd be seeing the new content come our way. According to the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/05/27/the-last-guy-getting-trophies-tomorrow-add-on-coming-next-month/">PlayStation Blog</a>, there are 15 Trophies to collect in tomorrow's free patch.<br /><br />In addition to the patch, the first DLC for this PSN title will arrive next month. It will include eight more Trophies and three new stages. A price wasn't set, but we assume it won't be much. It definitely won't be free, either (because the Japanese one certainly isn't). It looks like Himalayan zombies are back, folks!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/27/last-guy-trophies-hitting-us-tomorrow-dlc-next-month/">Last Guy Trophies hitting US tomorrow, DLC next month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 27 May 2009 21:30:00 EST. You might think that something called <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dress"><em>dress</em></a> is all about frills, plunging necklines and eating disorders, but that's really only half the story. There's more to the modestly named paid service from Japan, including some rather odd yet <em>somehow</em> relevant mini-game tie-ins (you know, stuff that actual gamers care about). And from the looks of things, there's only going to be more coming.<br /><br />So, <em>dress</em> in a nutshell is part fashion sim, part clothing ad and part mini-game collection. It's an interesting mix to say the least; however, after having "played" with it for awhile, it's a combination that just doesn't seem to work. In retrospect, it's still very much a young service which will be expanding with new content as time goes by, though there are still so many missing elements to this service that could've made it a great addition to something like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/home"><em>Home</em></a>. All in all, it's one great experiment and we're interested in the concept of this unique collaborative effort. Yes, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/white-knight-chronicles"><em>White Knight Chronicles</em></a> is coming to North America; Akihiro Hino, the CEO and president of Level-5, says so himself. In an interview with <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/44055.html?r=1&amp;type=wmv">GameTrailers</a>, Hino reaffirmed that Level-5 plans to bring the game over to North America, but he did not disclose when it would be coming.<br /><br />Furthermore, when pressed for the possibility of North American gamers playing alongside Japanese gamers in <em>WKC's </em>online components, Hino neither denied nor confirmed the cross-region play with a "hasn't been decided yet" response. This sort of wording leads to speculation that such a feature might be in the works and will be implemented if Level-5 works out all the kinks. It would be great if they do. To see the full video interview, just have a look past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/07/level-5-says-white-knight-chronicles-coming-to-north-america-on/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Level-5 says White Knight Chronicles coming to North America, online region locking not decided yet</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/07/level-5-says-white-knight-chronicles-coming-to-north-america-on/">Level-5 says White Knight Chronicles coming to North America, online region locking not decided yet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Jan 2009 07:30:00 EST. It looks like that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/yakuza-3/"><em>Yakuza 3</em></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/yakuza-3-themed-ps3-looks-stylish/">bundle</a> isn't the only SKU out on the market with an extra dash of special detail. A bundle for Capcom's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-5/"><em>Resident Evil 5</em></a> will also feature a unique 80GB PS3 adorned with a Tri-Cell logo. It's perhaps not as stylish as the <em>Yakuza 3</em> one, but at least it comes with a second controller. The set hits Japan on March 5 alongside the debut of<em> RE5</em> and will retail for &yen;48,980 ($522). <br /><br />It's interesting to see Sony pursue an interest in this sort of hobbyist/collector appeal strategy. Microsoft has been employing the tactic in Japan for several years now, releasing major J-RPGs in the territory with custom faceplate bundles. It'll be interesting to watch the rest of the year to see if this stratagem bears fruit, or becomes commonplace for other big name titles. In any case, don't expect to see these babies outside Japan ... seeing as we never got the silver and white units.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/07/resident-evil-5-gets-custom-ps3-bundle/">Resident Evil 5 gets custom PS3 bundle</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Jan 2009 06:00:00 EST. The giggling explosion of euphoric colors, more elegantly dubbed "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/loco-roco-2"><em>LocoRoco 2</em></a>," is officially slated to arrive in North America on Feb 10, 2009. <br /><br />The <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/12/24/locoroco-2-for-psp-rolling-to-north-america-soon/">PlayStation Blog</a> notes that the anticipated sequel will be available then on UMD, but we hope to see a version of <em>LocoRoco 2</em> arrive on the PlayStation Store as well (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/psp-wi-fi-store-opening-oct-15-in-japan-all-future-first-party/">Japan's doing it!</a>). The Japanese version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/demons-souls"><em>Demon's Souls</em></a> is scheduled for release in early February of next year, but it looks it won't be the only one making it out that month. <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2008/12/19/demons-souls-due-for-an-english-release/">Siliconera</a> suggests that the Asian version will also ship in February and most interestingly will be entirely in English. The site recently went hands-on with a new build at the Asia Game Show in Hong Kong and have discovered that the demo was, in fact, completely in English. <br /><br />Now, it is possible that the final release in Asia may not be in that language; however, that is really moot. It's most important to note that there is some form of English language version and it is currently in the works. At the moment, there haven't been any mention from either SCEA or SCEE in regards to North American and European releases for <em>Demon's Souls</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/20/english-demons-souls-hits-ps3-february-2009/">English Demon's Souls hits PS3 February 2009</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 20 Dec 2008 16:00:00 EST. The results are in, and the annual 2008 PlayStation Awards out of Japan is now a wrap. The handing out of awards commemorates successful titles over the past year. It highlight the best of the best and honors titles that have sold more than 500,000 units with a Gold Award, and those which sold over a million with a Platinum Award.<br /><br />Both <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crisis-core"><em>Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII</em></a> and <a href="http://pspfanboy.com/tag/phantasy-star-portable"><em>Phantasy Star Portable</em></a> have earned for themselves a Gold Award; however, the true star this year is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/monster-hunter"><em>Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G</em></a>. It has earned for itself a double-Platinum Award for being the only title (not only from PSP, but out of the entire PlayStation family) to sell more than two million copies in Japan this year. The results are in, and the annual 2008 PlayStation Awards out of Japan is now a wrap. The handing out of awards commemorates successful titles over the past year. It highlights the best of the best and honors titles that have sold more than 500,000 units with a Gold Award, and those which sold over a million with a Platinum Award.<br /><br />Unfortunately, only one PS3 title made this year's list. That being, of course, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-4"><em>Metal Gear Solid 4</em></a> with a Gold Award. With most of the other major PS3-exclusives releasing in late Autumn, we're not really surprised by this. Anyways, congratulations to you <em>MGS4</em> for the recognition. <br /><br />[via press release]<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/03/playstation-awards-2008-the-ps3-games/">PlayStation Awards 2008: The PS3 games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 03 Dec 2008 11:30:00 EST. SCEJ is pumping up the completely commercial Japanese Christmas season with new promotional material. The company is offering free demo discs to new PS3 owners in Japan upon the purchase of their system. These discs will contain demos and promotional trailers for both already released and upcoming PS3 titles. <br /><br />Buyers have a choice of either the red disc, which contains family friendly content, or the white disc, which includes more mature content. While majority of the demos to be found on either disc are already currently available on the PS Store, there is one demo of note: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-5"><em>Resident Evil 5</em></a> with offline and online co-op. Previously, it was announced that a demo for <em>RE5</em> was to release on December 5 for Xbox Live Gold Members; however, it looks like the PS3 will also be getting in on the action as these discs hit as early as December 18. The demo discs apparently will be only available in-store and while supplies last. See the full disc content listed after the break.<br /><br />[via press release]<br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/02/new-ps3-owners-in-japan-get-promo-demo-discs-including-resident/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New PS3 owners in Japan get promo demo discs, including Resident Evil 5 demo</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/02/new-ps3-owners-in-japan-get-promo-demo-discs-including-resident/">New PS3 owners in Japan get promo demo discs, including Resident Evil 5 demo</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Dec 2008 06:00:00 EST. Want to play <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/locoroco-2"><em>LocoRoco 2</em></a>? Sure, us too, but you'll have to wait -- oh, hold on, what's this? You can play an official <em>LocoRoco 2</em> <a href="http://www.games.co.uk/game/LocoRoco2.html">flash game</a> right now? That's good to hear as North Americans won't be getting a second helping of the cutesy blobs any time soon. However, you better start playing now because it will be gone come this November 21. Why, you might ask? Because the game hits Europe on that day. Those lucky blob-lovers.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=301160">Eurogamer</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/play-locoroco-2s-official-flash-mini-game/">Play LocoRoco 2's official flash mini-game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Nov 2008 15:00:00 EST. <p>The last time we did a story on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/white-knight-chronicles"><em>White Knight Chronicles</em></a>, we were bringing you a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/05/love-white-knight-chronicles-heres-14-minutes-of-it/">14-minute look</a> at Level-5's studio and the online components of the game. It was an interesting look, having the developers show everyone around, but now it' time for a new trailer (and even more footage of online play).<br /><br />The trailer posted above is the same one that was played at the Tokyo Game Show last month. A lot of it includes spliced up imagery from the first trailer the year, before but it's got a few new things in there. The vid posted after the break shows us a little bit about how the "live party" online portion of the game works. Get into that if you want to know more.</p><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/12/white-knight-chronicles-vids-online-play-and-tgs-08-trailer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>White Knight Chronicles vids: online play and TGS 08 trailer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/12/white-knight-chronicles-vids-online-play-and-tgs-08-trailer/">White Knight Chronicles vids: online play and TGS 08 trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 Nov 2008 14:00:00 EST. It could be the language barrier, sure, but actions speak louder than words and what we're seeing here has us palm-in-face. After watching an all-Japanese interview and a brief trailer, closed theater-goers received a little card which gives access to a special video made available starting today. While all of you couldn't grab a card and consequently are not able to see this new video, we've done the work for you and are hosting the special treat for you to watch right here. <br /><br /><em>White Knight Chronicles</em> fans (especially the ones who can understand Japanese) will surely be interested in seeing this 14-minute long look into the making of the game. The first five minutes takes us on a guided tour through Level-5's posh Fukuoka studio. CEO and president of Level-5, Akihiro Hino, then takes us through eight minutes of the battle system, fending off overgrown monsters and transforming into the White Knight himself. The last minute includes some footage seen from the TGS trailer. So watch it right now! <em>WNC</em> is out in Japan on Christmas Day, December 25.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/05/love-white-knight-chronicles-heres-14-minutes-of-it/">Love White Knight Chronicles? <p> Yup, those two modern day, Dick Tracy-like games now have official sites. Now that the print mags have let the cat out of the bag on Sony's first party PSP games to be shown at TGS, the internet is getting a treat. If you're interested in getting a better look at either of these titles, you can check out the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/enkaku-sousa/"><em>Enkaku Sousa</em></a> website <a href="http://www.jp.playstation.com/scej/title/enkaku/index.html">here</a> or the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/diamond-and-the-sound-of-a-gun-shot/"><em>Diamond and the Sound of a Gunshot</em></a> one right <a href="http://www.jp.playstation.com/scej/title/jyudai/story.html">here</a>.<br /><br />This blogger recommends checking out the <em>Enkaku Sousa</em> website purely to listen to the background music. That, and the fact that there's some footage on the game you can watch. <em>Diamond Gunshot's</em> website on the other hand, has less to offer, but drop by if you're interested.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/03/enkaku-sousa-and-diamond-gunshot-websites-open/">Enkaku Sousa and Diamond Gunshot websites open</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 03 Oct 2008 10:35:00 EST. The latest Famitsu has some info on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/30/sony-reveals-tgs-08-lineup-14-unannounced-titles-to-be-shown/">one of those nine unannounced PS3 games</a> coming from Sony and to be shown off at TGS next week. <em>Demon's Souls</em> is a single-player, fantasy-themed action-RPG being developed by From Software (and directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, of <em>Armored Core</em> fame), and published by SCEJ. Though it's a new IP, the game's director and SCE producer mention From Software's RPG series <em>King's Field</em> - perhaps a spiritual successor of some kind? <em>Demon's Souls</em> will be playable at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tgs-2008/">TGS</a>, so we'll find out then, okay?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/10/01/demons-souls-looks-like-current-gen-shadow-of-the-colossus/">PS3 Fanboy</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/01/famitsu-demons-souls-ps3-action-rpg-at-tgs/">Famitsu: Demon's Souls, PS3 action-RPG at TGS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Oct 2008 15:00:00 EST. SCEJ just dropped a ton of information concerning several major PSP titles for the remainder of 2008. Three huge games are now officially slated for this holiday season in Japan, and two of them are certainly games you probably won't want to miss importing. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dissidia"><em>Dissidia: Final Fantasy</em></a> is now set for a December 18 release, while <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/patapon-2"><em>Patapon 2 Donchaka</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/27/gundam-vs-gundam-headed-for-the-psp/"><em>Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam vs. Gundam</em></a> will both be out November 27 and 20, respectively.<br /><br />All three games will be sold alongside bundled packs that include the new bright-screened PSP-3000. <em>Patapon 2 Donchaka</em> not only dons a new subtitle, but will also be available as a PS Store download for those who want to save a couple of bucks over the UMD version. This is a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/yuusha-and-bleach-will-have-simultaneous-psn-and-umd-release/">similar strategy</a> as seen by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/yuusha/"><em>Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida or2</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/bleach-soul-carnival-gets-october-release-in-japan/"><em>Bleach Soul Carnival</em></a>. Tax-inclusive prices for games and bundles are after the break ... just in case you wanted to know how much money will be leaving your wallet this holiday season. <br /><br />[Via press release]<br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/02/dissidia-and-patapon-2-dated-new-bundles-announced/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Dissidia and Patapon 2 dated, new bundles announced</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/02/dissidia-and-patapon-2-dated-new-bundles-announced/">Dissidia and Patapon 2 dated, new bundles announced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Sep 2008 15:30:00 EST. Can you believe it? <a href="http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1217633_1124.html?ref=rss">Famitsu</a> reports that according to statistics provided by Enterbrain, ten million units of the PSP have been sold since its introduction to Japan back in the December of 2004. We <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/psp-sells-10-million-in-japan/">knew this already</a>, but there is some software news as well. The top game was <em>Monster Hunter 2nd G</em> with almost 2.4 million copies sold. With three games on the top 5, Japan sure loves <em>Monster Hunter</em>.<br />
<ol>
    <li><em>Monster Hunter 2nd G</em> (release date 03/27/08: 2,396,642 copies sold)</li>
    <li><em>Monster Hunter 2nd</em> (release date 02/22/07: 1,706,387 copies sold)</li>
    <li><em>Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII</em> (release date 09/13/07: 790,705 copies sold)</li>
    <li><em>Monster Hunter Portable</em> (release date 12/01/05: 668,964 copies sold)</li>
    <li><em>Phantasy Star Portable</em> (release date 07/31/08: 545,242 copies sold)</li>
</ol>
The PSP has been beaten by the DS in the hardware sales chart during <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/15/it-finally-ends-psp-no-longer-top-selling-hardware-in-japan/">the past two weeks</a>. But with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psp-brite">PSP Brite</a> coming out in October and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dissidia">Dissidia: Final Fantasy</a></em> coming out in December, we believe the PSP will be back on top in no time.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://kotaku.com/5042286/over-ten-million-psps-sold-top-five-games-are">Kotaku</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/27/over-10-million-psp-units-sold-in-japan-top-5-games/">Over 10 million PSP units sold in Japan, top 5 games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 27 Aug 2008 09:00:00 EST.
