The game isn't even in the pre-alpha stages of development (according to Oddworld Inhabitant's <a href="http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=410734335630244&amp;set=a.176207019082978.28797.165852613451752&amp;type=1&amp;comment_id=893940&amp;offset=50&amp;total_comments=434">Facebook page</a>) but gazing at <a href="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/08/abescreenshot.jpg">the full-sized version</a> of this picture already has our hearts rhythmically chanting and possessing our wallets.<br /><br />Still no information on when the Oddworld update is expecting to be released, though we figure "not for a while" is a safe assumption on account the whole pre-pre-alpha thing. Oddworld Inhabitants and developer Just Add Water plan on debuting the game publicly during the <a href="http://www.oddworld.com/2012/08/oddworld-abes-oddysee-hd-at-eurogamer-expo/">2012 Eurogamer Expo</a> this September.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/10/explore-the-first-screen-of-the-oddworld-abes-odysee-remake/">Explore the first screen of the Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee remake</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Aug 2012 06:00:00 EST. The project <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/15/wasteland-2-kickstarter-exceeds-goal-and-is-still-going/">hit its goal of $900k</a> easily on the nearly ubiquitous crowdfunding service, and ended up with nearly $2.9 million.<br /> <br /> Over on the official blog, the developers say they're <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/wasteland-2/posts">releasing this early shot for feedback</a>, and that they're also almost done with the game's main site, which is where backers will be able to update their support if they'd like to do so. The props found above are largely part of Unity's own database of in-game items, customized for the <em>Wasteland</em> world. As the team members learn to use the Unity engine, they're hoping this is only the beginning of the way the game looks.<br /> <br /> Presumably, they'll will have some help: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/30/obsidian-will-help-with-wasteland-2-if-kickstarter-reaches-2-1/">Obsidian Entertainment promised to pitch in</a> if the Kickstarter reached at least $2.1 million. </div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/23/first-wasteland-2-screenshot-is-only-the-beginning-of-developmen/">First Wasteland 2 screenshot is only the beginning of development</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Jul 2012 23:00:00 EST. Granted, this is but a single image, but from where we're sitting it sure does look a hell of a lot like a Forza game, which is reassuring considering that this is Playground Games' first spin behind the franchise's wheel.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forza-horizon/">Forza Horizon</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forza-horizon/#5030324"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/forza-horizon_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/forza-horizon/#5030325"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/fh-box_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/17/heres-the-first-forza-horizon-screenshot/">Here's the first Forza Horizon screenshot</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 May 2012 12:00:00 EST. <br />
As today is the last full day you'll get a chance to enjoy <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-2"><em>Halo 2</em></a>, Bungie has apparently gone and pulled the joke lever. In preparation for <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2010/04/14/x3f-game-night-halo-2/">tonight's festivities</a>, we went online to download all of the extra maps for the game and get a round of practice in, only to find a few peculiar messages -- like the self-esteem booster you see above.<br />
<br />
For the most part, the messages <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bungies-halo-2-farewell/full/#2894362">are</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bungies-halo-2-farewell/full/#2894363">pretty</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bungies-halo-2-farewell/full/#2894368">jovial</a>, though there are a few odd ones that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bungies-halo-2-farewell/full/#2894369">take it a bit too far</a>. Head into the gallery below to check 'em all out.<br />

Remember when we used to dream -- oh, so innocently -- of the days when video games would look real? Well, those days have come and gone. Games have now officially entered the realm of <em>too real</em>. See: the first screenshot of EA Sports' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mma"><em>MMA</em></a> (above).<br /><br />Look, we're cool with realistic violence in games -- from a distance. Exploding heads, severed limbs, gratuitous gore -- it's all got to be separated by at least a sword's length; or better: the distance traveled by a bullet.<br /><br />This bare, get-on-the-floor and grapple-it-out violence is just, well, <em>confusing</em>. Look at that balding guy's expression*. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/27/lock-your-eyes-on-first-ea-sports-mma-screenshot/#extreme-closeup">Look closer</a>. <span style="font-style: italic;">What is that all about?</span> It's, like, the antisocial rage it takes to snap a man's arm (against one's groin, no less) coupled with the extreme constipation indicative of training the body to destroy people (go on, <span style="font-style: italic;">squeeze</span> it out) and the extraordinary pain brought on by a set of incisors biting into the tender flesh behind the knee -- and then it's all locked together in what appears to be pure ... ecstasy? We know the sport's all about mixing it up, but these are <span style="font-style: italic;">mixed messages.</span> C'mon, folks, we don't need this stuff in the way of kicking ass. <br />We didn't want to wake you up, but we really want to tell you something ... specifically, that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/warner-bros">Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment</a> today officially announced the upcoming movie tie-in game, <em>Where the Wild Things Are</em>, for 360/PS3/Wii and DS. Landing on retailer shelves this October in-tandem with the film's theater release, all we know about the game so far is that it's an action/platformer.<br /><br />You might remember hearing about this game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/25/where-the-wild-things-are-on-every-console-this-year/">back in May</a> when we told you more or less everything we've just heard <em>officially</em> today. We do have the one exciting screenshot you see above, but that's not a lot, so we've embedded the movie trailer after the break for your enjoyment. If it can warm our icy hearts, it can warm anyone's.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/where-the-wild-things-are-romps-into-our-hearts-this-october/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Where the Wild Things Are romps into our hearts this October</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/where-the-wild-things-are-romps-into-our-hearts-this-october/">Where the Wild Things Are romps into our hearts this October</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Jul 2009 17:15:00 EST. What's this, more <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/warning-new-starcraft-2-screens/"><em>StarCraft II </em>screenshots</a>? Admittedly, we're a bit powerless to stop ourselves from looking at these 10 or so new images from a <a href="http://www.starcraft2.com/downloads.xml#fansitekit">Fansite kit</a> that Blizzard discreetly updated (our compatriots say only eight of these are new, but we count two more that we've never seen before). <br /><br />If you take nothing else from these screens, just remember that zerg rushes still elicit a sensory overload billed directly to your occipital lobe. Latest pics are in the front of the gallery. So Blizzard, how about a public beta soon to feed our addiction?<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/starcraft-ii/">Starcraft 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/starcraft-ii/#337853"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/08/the-plasma-array-is-a-new-u_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/starcraft-ii/#247344"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/05/ss6-hires_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/starcraft-ii/#339777"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/08/hpim4926_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/starcraft-ii/#337854"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/08/shrubs-are-passable-but-can_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/starcraft-ii/#247345"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/05/ss5-hires_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Via <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/01/29/blizzard-sneaks-out-eight-new-starcraft-ii-screenshots/">Big Download</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/29/new-starcraft-2-screens-make-it-rain-zerglings/">New Starcraft 2 screens 'make it rain' zerglings</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 29 Jan 2009 16:26:00 EST. Most companies choose to issue media via press releases or exclusive articles. But here we're talking about companies with actual games, not just a campaign of <em>windbaggery</em> and empty promises. Nibris, where they tend to focus on the latter, apparently feels releasing what is purportedly the first and only screenshot of <em>Sadness</em> to date (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/31/a-look-back-through-time-sadness/">two years late</a>, mind) to some random dude on the Internet is what makes for good PR.<br /><br />The IGN Wii boards have blown up over the past few days due to the unending campaign of one Nibris supporter, a single purported screenshot, and a few cryptic remarks from the Nibris president himself, who is long known to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/29/nibris-its-art-but-is-it-a-concept/">frequent message boards</a>. The numerous threads are a mess, so we'll attempt to sum up: user Twiilight_Prince posted the above, stating it was an actual in-game screenshot from <em>Sadness</em> and that he had received it from Nibris. He then apparently received messages from the user posting as Nibris, asking him to remove it. He did. Someone else also posted it, and received similar messages. Eventually, the reported PMs were posted. In them, Nibris (who we assume is president Piotr Babieno) did in fact ask for the shot's removal ... and also promised that there would be screens from <span style="font-style: italic;">Sadness</span> and a trailer next month.<br /><br />Now where have we heard <span style="font-style: italic;">that</span> before? It's same to assume we're not holding our breath around here -- but here's the apparent screenshot for your perusal.<br /><br />[Thanks, Joe!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/08/nibris-returning-with-more-promises/">Nibris returning with more promises</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 Apr 2008 10:30:00 EST. <br />The release of <em>Picross</em> is just around the corner for American gamers (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/11/picross-ds-bound-for-the-us-one-way-or-another/">none too soon!</a>), and the title packs a huge punch considering the budget price. Not only does it look awesome, but it's been well-reviewed, and we'll have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/23/picross-ds-gets-downloadable-content-in-the-us/">downloadable content</a>. That's so great that Nintendo hardly needed to whet our appetites with a few new screens, but hey -- we're not complaining. Check 'em out below!<br /><br />Did we mention the wifi multiplayer? How can it be included in a lower-priced game like this, but not in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/e307-mario-party-ds-media-explosion/"><em>Mario Party</em></a>? <br />Nintendo didn't give us much on <em>Mario Kart Wii</em>, but it's enough. A smattering of sweet screenshots, a peripheral we're uncertain about, and news of <em>online multiplayer</em> is enough to get any good Nintendo fan's heart racing. As for the upcoming wheel ... Mario and Luigi manage to make it look like a blast! But racing is old hat for them -- they've been doing it for years. We can only guess they needed something new to mix things up a little. <br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/12/e307-mario-kart-wii-spins-its-wheels-through-our-hearts/">E307: Mario Kart Wii spins its wheels through our hearts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Jul 2007 11:30:00 EST. <div align="left">It looks like the second round of <em>Brain Age</em> will have a lot more to offer, and that's without even considering the unlockable <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/25/nms-brain-age-2-confirmation-and-impressions/"><em>Dr. Mario</em></a>! We've updated our gallery with new screenshots that include images from a change-making game (a very helpful skill to practice) and a pretty dubious drawing of New York that's still better than anything we could manage (but somehow reminds us of Pictochat ... ). <br />
Well, call it a <span style="font-style: italic;">controlled</span> explosion, kinda like a <span style="font-style: italic;">smart bomb</span> -- but we're still pretty pleased to see some sweet new media from a brand new DS game. Er, <span style="font-style: italic;">mostly</span> new, considering it's a franchise title. Still, <span style="font-style: italic;">Mario Party</span> on the DS sounds like a winner, though we would prefer more than just local wireless play. <span style="font-style: italic;">Mario Party</span> could only make <a href="http://dsfanboy.com/tag/gamenight">Game Night</a> that much more fun, amirite? Oh well, enough complaining -- check out the images in our gallery and the spankin' new trailer after the jump. <br />

<em><br />Heroes of Mana</em> may not be the <em>Mana</em> game that fans really want, but at least it's looking <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/01/heroes-of-mana-site-opens-for-business/">pretty nice</a> -- and more strategy on the DS can never really be a <em>bad</em> thing. If only it had WiFi multiplayer, alas. We'll just have to make do with ratcheting up the ol' ranking so we can earn downloadable maps and items. <br /><br /><em>Heroes of Mana</em> is scheduled for release in the US this August. <br /><br />[Via press release]<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/20/heroes-mana-style/">Heroes, Mana-style</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Jun 2007 17:50:00 EST. We've seen some of this before, particularly the lower right panel, but only in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/25/dragon-quest-ix-screenshots-fly-into-view/">scans</a> -- look at the difference in the full color screenshots! The production values on this are staggering; remember the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/21/kweh-or-fresh-new-chocobo-screens/">jaggy screenshots</a> from <em>Chocobo Tales</em>? The backgrounds in <em><a href="http://www.houseofnintendo.com/50226711/h_104_56625_f4_jpg.jpg">Final Fantasy III</a></em>? Those games are beautiful in motion, but suffer somewhat in stills. If this comparison is any indication of what's in store for us with <em>Dragon Quest IX</em>, we're not sure we can handle that much <em>awesome</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/01/dragon-quest-ix-in-full-color/">Dragon Quest IX in full color</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 May 2007 14:20:00 EST. Hit the jump to see not only the rest of the screenshots, but a comparison shot from the version that released last year (for Xbox and PS2). The Wii version looks crisp and smooth -- and even without the comparison, pretty good. As the domain name implies, the emphasis is on the images. "The Gamers' Gallery was created because all other screenshot viewers are severely lacking. I really just wanted to create the best damn screenshot viewer on the internet," says Puleo.<br /><br />So did he? Puleo admits TGG is still in its infancy, but the potential is there. Galleries aren't buried behind pages of fluff and the ability to vote and comment on images reinforces the community dynamic -- and adds comic relief. For a small fee ($10/yr) users can become contributing members, unlocking high-res images (without watermarks!) and the ability to create galleries and a custom webpage. <strike>We hope subscribers also get a watermark-free experience.</strike> Shameless stamping is one lasting "feature" that 'lacking viewers' rarely <em>lack</em>. Let's hope Puleo and staff decide to break the old habit (for the non-subscriber's sake).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/02/the-gamers-gallery-aims-to-be-webs-best-damned-screenshot-vie/">The Gamers' Gallery aims to be web's 'best damned screenshot viewer'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 02 Apr 2007 16:55:00 EST. If you can't seem to get enough of <em>Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword</em>, then you're in luck -- because the good folks from Team Ninja are all about giving up the goods. May they never, ever stop. <br />

While we've seen a few of these in with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/29/a-better-look-at-ninja-gaiden-dragon-sword/">scans</a>, it's nice to look at them all by their lonesome ... and envision how we'll be spending all our free time in the future. That's tough, considering it <em>looked like Animal Crossing</em> when it was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/03/details-on-sim-crossing/">first announced</a>. But we can't be mad. It's too adorable, and we cannot resist the power of <em>MySims</em>. After the jump, there are enough screenshots to convince even the hardest of hearts.<br /><br />We're really not sure if these are work (or other public place) safe. They are <em>so freakin' cute</em> that they may cause a complete emotional breakdown. The screens show combat, a cinema scene and the screen above. The game is scheduled to hit Japan April 19th, though no US date has been set yet. It's looking very nice considering, but I think the main deciding factor in these releases will be the price point. Will you be buying these releases and what <em>Final Fantasy</em> number would be your dream port to PSP?</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/08/new-final-fantasy-screens/">New Final Fantasy Anniversary screens</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Feb 2007 18:00:00 EST. Maybe even gorgeous. They're an explosion of color for our favorite screens. There are even hippos. But then it hit us. Where's the funny? Where's the detail? How will the uninitiated possibly understand why this is an essential game? As screens go, these are a little like cream themselves -- tasty, but not very filling. Let's hope we see more soon, but until then, the four after the jump will have to do.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/02/cookie-and-cream-looks-pretty-tasty/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cookie &amp; Cream looks pretty tasty</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/02/cookie-and-cream-looks-pretty-tasty/">Cookie &amp; Cream looks pretty tasty</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 02 Feb 2007 15:15:00 EST. Graphics aren't everything certainly, but the PSP is capable of some very nice looking games and it's difficult to not form comparisons. I've never played the first game though, so maybe the gameplay will more than make up for any graphical short comings. Anyone played this series? No additional details were revealed with the screens, but I'm willing to bet there will be farm tending involved. This seems to be one of the best looking <em>Harvest Moon</em> games to come out yet, so it should please fans of the series.</p>

And who can resist tiny Sim Santa and his cute little reindeer? <br /><br />The new stuff looks to largely concern Save the City mode, which thrusts the player into a real city and offers them challenges to solve, from earthquakes to snarled traffic and hey, even UFOs. Also -- and our loose translation may be incorrect -- it looks as though fires in your city can be handled by blowing into the microphone. But lots of fire stations can help prevent fires, so build carefully to avoid puffing away into the mic. <br /><br />Check out the screens after the jump!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/22/sim-city-ds-screens-and-info/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sim City DS screens and info</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/22/sim-city-ds-screens-and-info/">Sim City DS screens and info</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Dec 2006 14:30:00 EST. If style was everything, this one would already be lining up for accolades. Let's just hope the unusual graphic adventure (set in 1979) is as good as it looks. <br /><br />We've seen a lot of these before, in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/07/hotel-dusk-room-215-trailer-brings-the-noir/">video</a> from the game, but it's nice to get to pore over some of the more interesting shots.
