That suggests that not only is <em>Toejam and Earl </em>imminent on XBLM, but that it's part of the next bundle of Sega classics for both XBLA and PSN.<br /><br />The last Sega Vintage Collection (Numero 3) came in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/23/psa-sega-vintage-collection-now-available-on-xbla/">May</a>, bringing old-timers like <em>Super-Hang On</em>, <em>The Revenge of Shinobi</em>, and <em>Alex Kidd in Miracle World</em> to 360s and PS3s. What the next collection may offer is anyone's guess - beyond <em>ToeJam and Earl</em>, that is.<br /><br />There remains no official Sega announcement on an XBLA or PSN release of <em>ToeJam and Earl</em>. However, back in July the creators of the game confirmed to <a href="http://www.xblafans.com/ToeJam-And-Earl-Confirmed-For-XBLA">XBLAFans</a> that the publisher is planning to release it on XBLM and PSN. We've reached out to Sega for confirmation.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/24/toejam-and-earl-achievements-pop-up-sega-vintage-collection-4-imm/">Toejam &amp; Earl achievements pop up, Sega Vintage Collection 4 imminent</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Aug 2012 08:40:00 EST. Sega announced the next few "Vintage Collections," which will be sold individually on PSN and in bundles on XBLA.<br /><br />For XBLA, the <em>Monster World Collection</em> brings together <em>Wonder Boy in Monster Land</em> (arcade) and <em>Wonder Boy in Monster World</em> and <em>MWIV</em> for Genesis on May 23. On May 30, Golden Axe's arcade original joins <em>Golden Axe 2 &amp; 3</em> on Genesis, concurrent with a three-volume <em>Streets of Rage Collection</em>. The collections sell for 800 MSP each.<br /><br />Meanwhile, PSN will see all of those <em>Wonder Boys</em>,<em> Super Hang-On</em> (arcade), <em>Revenge of Shinobi</em>, and Alex Kidd in Miracle World on May 22, for $5 each.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/18/sega-vintage-collections-dumping-lots-of-old-games-on-psn-and-xb/">Sega Vintage Collections dumping lots of old games on PSN and XBLA next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 May 2012 23:59:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/31/segas-monster-world-4-coming-to-xbla-psn-and-not-virtual-cons/">downloadable release</a> of the never-before-localized <em>Monster World IV</em> has resurfaced on an Xbox Live Marketplace listing, and it's not alone! It's now part of a bundle called <em>Sega Vintage Collection: Monster World</em>, which packs <em>Wonder Boy in Monster Land</em>, <em>Wonder Boy in Monster World</em>, and <em>Monster World IV </em>together in a single XBLA release.<br /><br />According to the Marketplace page it's due on April 25, but we're <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/26/fez-hits-xbla-on-may-2/">not putting too much stock</a> into that. We're just happy to see more evidence of the release, and added value along with it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/14/localized-monster-world-iv-bundled-into-downloadable-collection/">Localized Monster World IV bundled into downloadable collection</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Mar 2012 21:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/12/monster-world-iv-leads-newest-psn-virtual-console-seg/"><img border="1" hspace="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/mwtitle512.jpg" vspace="0" /></a></center>
This is slightly confusing, but also awesome. We recently found an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/31/segas-monster-world-4-coming-to-xbla-psn-and-not-virtual-cons/">ESRB rating</a> for the previously unlocalized Mega Drive/Genesis game <em>Monster World IV</em>, for release on XBLA and PSN. Today, Sega of Europe confirmed that it's bringing the game over -- but on PSN and Wii Virtual Console, as part of a new "Vintage Collection" being released late this year and early next year.<br />
<br />
The collection also includes <em>Wonder Boy in Monster Land, Revenge of Shinobi, Alex Kidd in Miracle World</em>, and <em>Wonder Boy in Monster World</em>, all of which have already been released on Virtual Console in North America. <em>Super Hang-On </em>is in there too, and has not been released on Nintendo's download service. None of these were already on PSN.<br />
<br />
<em>Monster World IV</em> is arguably the star of the collection, because it's never had an official console release outside of Japan -- and Sega is actually <em>localizing it</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/12/monster-world-iv-leads-newest-psn-virtual-console-seg/">Localized Monster World IV leads newest PSN/Virtual Console 'Sega Vintage Collection'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 May 2011 12:30:00 EST. Sega has announced plans to release seven more of its classic titles under the <em>Sega Vintage Collectio</em>n banner later this year, thus confirming one of Xbox Live Arcade's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/13/rumor-sega-vintage-collection-coming-to-xbla/">worst-kept secrets</a>. Included in <em>Sega Vintage Collection 2</em> are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/19/achievements-confirm-xbla-release-of-altered-beast-shinobi-com/"><em>Shinobi</em> (arcade port), <em>Comix Zone</em>, <em>Altered Beast</em></a>,<em> Sonic the Hedgehog 3</em>, <em>Phantasy Star II</em>, <em>Sonic &amp; Knuckles</em> and<em> <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/04/28/gunstar-heroes-achievements-hint-at-xbla-release/">Gunstar Heroes</a></em>. Interestingly, <em>Gunstar Heroes</em> is the only title also announced for the PSN.<br /><br />According to Sega, each title will include online leaderboards, re-worked graphics (using smoothing filters, not HD upgrades) and most will feature network play (<em>Comix Zone,</em> <em>Phantasy Star II</em> and <em>Shinobi</em> excluded). No word on pricing or release dates but Sega plans to release the titles separately this summer, with <em>Sonic &amp; Knuckles</em> appearing last. Why the delay? With <em>Sonic &amp; Knuckles</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sega-vintage-collection-2/2008393/"><em>Sonic 2</em> XBLA</a> and <em>Sonic 3</em> XBLA owners will be able to use the classic <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_&amp;_Knuckles#Lock-on_technology">lock-on feature</a> from the Genesis-era to import Knuckles into each classic adventure. Of course, if patience isn't your best quality, you could just buy <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/06/sega-announces-sonics-ultimate-genesis-collection-includes-4/">Sonic's Genesis Collection</a></em> now (which <em>doesn't</em> support lock-on).<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sega-vintage-collection-2/">Sega Vintage Collection 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sega-vintage-collection-2/#2008393"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/knuckles-in-sonic-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sega-vintage-collection-2/#2008392"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/sonic-and-knuckles-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sega-vintage-collection-2/#2008391"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/sonic-and-knuckles-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sega-vintage-collection-2/#2008390"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/sonic-and-knuckles-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sega-vintage-collection-2/#2008389"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/sonic-and-knuckles-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/11/second-batch-of-sega-vintage-collection-titles-confirmed/">Second batch of Sega Vintage Collection titles confirmed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 11 May 2009 15:30:00 EST. That didn't take long. While Sega's <em>Gunstar Heroes</em> was noticeably absent from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/19/achievements-confirm-xbla-release-of-altered-beast-shinobi-com/">Achievements uncovered</a> earlier this month, <a href="http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/gunstar-heroes/achievements/">Xbox360Achievements</a> has again given us reason to live. Or at least reason enough to believe that the Treasure classic will be running and gunning for Xbox Live Arcade <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/13/rumor-sega-vintage-collection-coming-to-xbla/">sometime down the line</a>. <br /><br />The site highlights twelve Achievements for the fan favorite side-scroller, worth 200 points in all. While we're disappointed at the lack of creativity in the list, which mostly focuses overcoming the game's top baddies, we continue to hope for online co-op play once <em>Gunstar Heroes'</em> XBLA debut is made official. Come on Sega, make it happen! <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3173952">1UP</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/28/gunstar-heroes-achievements-hint-at-xbla-release/">Gunstar Heroes Achievements hint at XBLA release</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Apr 2009 09:15:00 EST. An anonymous source apparently <a href="http://www.segaonline.nl/blog/2009/02/13/sega-vintage-collection-breid-uit/">tipped off Dutch gaming site Segaonline.nl</a> to some top secret images of <em>Sega Vintage Collection</em>, a series of retro titles making their way to Xbox Live. The games are what you'd expect; it's classic Sega fare with <em>Gunstar Heroes</em>, <em>Comix Zone</em>, <em>Altered Beast</em>, <em>Shinobi III</em>, and <em>Sonic the Hedgehog 3</em>.<br /><br />The images and information seem sound enough to us, but you know how it is with these things. "My uncle totally works at Nintendo," and "My mom is in Bill Gates' book club" are just a few of the lies we've heard when dealing with these types of rumors in the past. So keep that tucked under your cap when you <a href="http://www.segaonline.nl/blog/2009/02/13/sega-vintage-collection-breid-uit/">head over to check out the pictures</a>.<br /><br />If you would like a machine to <em>totally butcher</em> the translation for you, then <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.segaonline.nl%2Fblog%2F2009%2F02%2F13%2Fsega-vintage-collection-breid-uit%2F&amp;sl=nl&amp;tl=en&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8">click here</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/13/rumor-sega-vintage-collection-coming-to-xbla/">Rumor: Sega Vintage Collection coming to XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Feb 2009 18:32:00 EST.
