Or the second. Or the third.<br />
<br />
We learned this very quickly when trying out the game at Capcom's Fight Club event during <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/gdc-2010">GDC</a>. Granted, there is a simplified input configuration -- which we discovered after this video was shot -- but longtime <em>Street Fighter </em>fans could get a tad miffed by all the whiffs.<br />
<br />
Should you make the $10 investment for <em>SFIV,</em> <em>on your phone</em>, you'll probably want to spend some time in the game's expansive "Dojo" training mode before hitting the world circuit.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/10/video-the-elusive-iphone-shoryuken/">Video: The elusive iPhone Shoryuken</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 10 Mar 2010 10:30:00 EST. Following last week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/25/pc-version-of-batman-arkham-asylum-on-sale-for-12-49/">killer deal on <em>Batman: Arkham Asylum</em></a>, Games for Windows on Demand continues its series of game sales with <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a>. Right now, the service is offering Capcom's fighter for <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-us/games/pages/sales.aspx">50 percent off</a>, knocking the price down to a palatable $19.99. Or, if you prefer, Impulse is also offering it <a href="http://www.impulsedriven.com/stfighter4">for the same price</a>. Of course, it's worth noting that <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/super-street-fighter-iv"><em>Super Street Fighter IV</em></a> will be released in just a month, so you might just skip the whole thing and wait for a couple of weeks.<br />
<br />
Unless, of course, the allure of "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/02/capcom-explains-40-ssfiv-price-cautiously-optimistic-about-t/">a nifty little special set of things</a>" is just too much to resist.<br />

After <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/04/rumor-car-punching-returns-in-super-street-fighter-iv/">scans from Famitsu</a> all but confirmed it, Capcom today revealed that the crescendo of humanity vs. his own creations - <span style="font-style: italic;">car bashing</span> - will return in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/super-street-fighter-iv"><em>Super Street Fighter IV</em></a>. Though the image of Juri above is all we're offered by <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/s-kill/blog/2009/11/05/super_street_fighter_iv_return_of_the_bonus_round">Capcom-Unity</a> for now, various Capcom staff Twitter accounts lead us to believe we'll be hearing more about this bonus stage next week. In the meantime, we've dropped an excellent video of John Cleese beating up a car with a stick for you just after the break. <em>You're welcome</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/05/car-bashing-bonus-stage-in-super-street-fighter-iv/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Confirmed: Car-bashing bonus stage returns in Super Street Fighter IV</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/05/car-bashing-bonus-stage-in-super-street-fighter-iv/">Confirmed: Car-bashing bonus stage returns in Super Street Fighter IV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Nov 2009 15:18:00 EST. Microsoft has <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/press/archive/2009/10/05/erf456.aspx">announced</a> that several new titles will soon be joining the ranks of the Xbox 360's budget priced Platinum Hits line. The new additions include some seriously heavy hitters, namely <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/gtaiv"><em>Grand Theft Auto IV</em></a>, <em>Street Fighter IV</em>, <em>Left 4 Dead</em>, <em>Star Wars: The Force Unleashed</em> and <em>Saints Row 2</em>. Microsoft's announcement (oh so conveniently) neglected to mention prices for any of the titles, but a quick check around the ol' internet points to a price of $29.99 for most of the new additions (though <em>SFIV</em> curiously seems pegged <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Street-Fighter-IV-Xbox-360/dp/B0012N3ZXS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1254780025&amp;sr=8-2">around $40</a> for the moment).<br />
<br />
We should also point out that while these are some legitimately great games, both <em>SFIV</em> and <em>Force Unleashed</em> are receiving upgraded, budget versions in the near future -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/24/star-wars-the-force-unleashed-receiving-ultimate-sith-edition/"><em>Ultimate Sith Edition</em></a> later this year and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/28/super-street-fighter-iv-confirmed-eight-fighters-added/"><em>Super Street Fighter IV</em></a> in early 2010. It's also worth noting <em>Left 4 Dead</em> is receiving a <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/left-4-dead">full-blown sequel</a> only a month from now.<br />
<br />
Microsoft has also announced that retailers will be offering a "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" promotion for Xbox 360 Platinum Hits through October 31, though the release makes no mention of which retailers are doing so. We've contacted Microsoft for more information on the promotion.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/05/left-4-dead-gtaiv-sfiv-join-xbox-platinum-hits/">Left 4 Dead, GTAIV, SFIV join Xbox Platinum Hits</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 Oct 2009 18:30:00 EST. </a></div>
Capcom recently launched one of the most nebulous video game teaser sites in recent history, hinting at an update for <em>Street F</em><em>ighter IV</em>. All <a href="http://www.capcom.co.jp/newwarrior/index.html">said site</a> displays is a short video clip of what we <em>believe</em> is the music video for <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HE9OQ4FnkQ">A-ha's "Take On Me"</a> spliced together with footage of some sort of fluorescent fluid swirling lazily down a toilet drain. Also, a date and time: "2009.09.29. 17:00 JST." <em>Whoa. </em>Capcom's on Joystiq Standard Time, too?<em><br />
</em> <br />
Fortunately, French site <a href="http://jv247.com/games/3387-NEWS1637-Super-Street-Fighter-IV-en-preparation.html">JV247</a> has received a few purported, light-shedding screenshots from an anonymous source at Capcom. If legit, these screens reveal the existence of the oft-rumored <em>Super Street Fighter IV</em> -- a retail game (or perhaps just a DLC expansion) that will add at least two <em>Street Fighter</em> regulars to the game: Juri and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/18/street-fighter-iv-producer-teases-future-inclusion-of-dee-jay-t/">T. Hawk</a> (seen above). These screens look like the real deal, but details from the source are scant.<br />
<br />
Stay tuned -- an official announcement is expected within the next 24 hours.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/28/rumor-super-street-fighter-iv-unveiling-tomorrow/">Rumor: Super Street Fighter IV unveiling tomorrow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 Sep 2009 11:51:00 EST. It's not often that we get to post a breaking news, stop-the-presses kind of story about an impending sequel to a beloved franchise. Of course, that adage doesn't really apply to <em>Street Figher</em>, a series with more sequels and spin-offs than the Joystiq staff has fingers and toes. On the Japanese <a href="http://www.capcom-fc.com/sf4/2009/09/post_120.html"><em>Street Fighter IV</em> blog</a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/capcom">Capcom's</a> Natsuki Shiozawa intimated that an announcement regarding a sequel would be made in the near future. With <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/tgs-2009">TGS</a> only a week away, we can only hope that such an announcement will be made then.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://ps3.ign.com/articles/102/1026154p1.html">IGN</a> quite rightly notes that an <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv"><em>SFIV</em></a> "sequel" doesn't necessarily equate to a brand new entry in the series. Given the series' history, it's easily possible that it could end up being an extension of the game, &agrave; la <em>Street Fighter II Championship Edition</em>. We might add that an <em>SFIV</em> refresh would be <em>perfect</em> for the impending holiday shopping season.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/19/shoryuken-expect-a-street-fighter-iv-sequel/">Shoryuken expect a Street Fighter IV sequel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 19 Sep 2009 02:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mad-catz">Mad Catz</a> has <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/s-kill/blog/2009/08/31/new_street_fighter_iv_mad_catz_femme_fatale_tournament_edition_sticks">announced</a> that it will be bringing a special limited edition of its <em>Street Fighter IV</em> Tournament Edition Fightsticks to the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/penny-arcade-expo">Penny Arcade Expo</a>. And when we say limited, we mean it: Only 1,000 sticks will be made available -- 650 for Xbox and 350 for PS3 -- and the majority of them will be available exclusively from the Capcom booth at PAX. For those unable to attend, a "very limited stock" will be available at the <a href="http://shop.capcom.com/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayHomePage&amp;SiteID=capcomus&amp;Locale=en_US&amp;Env=BASE&amp;&amp;resid=QfvAqgoBAkYAAFxMIBsAAAAm&amp;rests=1251747850320">Capcom</a> and <a href="http://store.gameshark.com/?gclid=CN-hzMbGzpwCFdgtpAodhz3dJw">GameShark</a> online stores.<br />
<br />
The "Femme Fatale" joystick, as you can see above, is decked out with the ladies of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a>, including Sakura, Crimson Viper, Chun-Li, Cammy and Rose. It's also packs a lilac color scheme, which seems appropriate given the bumps and bruises players will be doling out with it (virtual bumps and bruises, of course). The sticks will go on sale this Friday, September 4, on a first-come-first-serve basis, limited to two per customer.<br />
<br />
If you want one, you'd best be quick.<br />

It's including a <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/01/08/mad-catz-announces-sfiv-controllers-accessories/">MadCatz Fight Pad</a> in the $60 Games for Windows version of <em>SFIV</em> that'll be sold at your local brick and mortar. We're wondering how many folks are willing to snag one of these for the controller alone!<br /><br />Problematically, the company has at once solved your problem and caused another -- how are you going to play against friends in your house with only one controller? Knowing that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/mad-catz-talks-supply-demand-issues-of-sfiv-fightstick/">arcade controllers released</a> have come in fairly short supply, here's hoping the introduction of PC <em>Street Fighter IV</em> brings with it a bevy of the unfortunately necessary controllers to the market.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/09/street-fighter-iv-pc-comes-packin-a-fightpad/">Street Fighter IV PC comes packin' ... a fightpad</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 09 May 2009 20:30:00 EST. Poor <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Games-For-Windows-Live/">Games For Windows Live</a>. The branding and service have been so neglected that it actually gives us a little spring in our step to see someone embracing it, like the way we like to hear about Brad Pitt buying mosquito nets for poor countries. <br /><br />Its latest benefactor is <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sfiv">Street Fighter IV</a> </em>on the PC, which will use the service to provide multiplayer and Achievements when it arrives on home computers this summer. Just a quick reminder that free <em>Street Fighter IV</em> DLC, called the Power Up Pack, is <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/offers/0ccf0008-0000-4000-8000-0000434307e1?cid=SLink">now available</a> on Xbox Live Marketplace. The pack comes with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/17/free-street-fighter-iv-championship-dlc-detailed/">new Championship Mode</a>, which adds new tournament features and double-blind character selection. The pack also includes a new Replay Mode, which allows players on Xbox Live to download replays of matches, which even include the controller inputs used by each character.<br /><br />The download clocks in at 16MB and, once again, it's free. <strike>Strangely, it appears the DLC is<em> not</em> available on PSN just yet. We'll be sure to let you know when it shows up.</strike><br /><br /><strong>Update: </strong>We apologize for the error, as the DLC has been available for the PlayStation 3 version as an update for a few days now.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/26/psa-free-street-fighter-iv-power-up-pack-now-available/">PSA: Free Street Fighter IV 'Power Up Pack' now available</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 26 Apr 2009 19:30:00 EST. Utilizing the new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/17/free-street-fighter-iv-championship-dlc-detailed/">Championship mode</a> to track your Grade Points (which determines your overall rank in the standings, naturally), the contest is open starting today and ends on May 17. Then, on the week of May 30, the best 30 fighters from each of the participating countries -- UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain -- will be matched up to decide the champion of each nation. After that, the five winners will then be flown to a secret location (we're crossing our fingers for <em>inside of a volcano</em>) on the weekend of June 13 to compete for the grand prize: an <a href="http://www.yamaha-motor.co.uk/products/scooters/50cc/aeroxr.jsp?web=capcmsf&amp;bnr=aeroxr" target="_blank">Aerox R Yamaha scooter</a> and matching <em>SFIV</em> jackets.<br /><br />If you're a Joystiq reader, and you make it to the finals and win this scooter, we suggest you name it <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrpCf9DIosw">Sasha</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/24/capcom-looking-for-a-few-good-street-fighter-iv-xbox-360-players/">Capcom looking for a few good Street Fighter IV Xbox 360 players in Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Apr 2009 16:00:00 EST. Good news for fighting game aficionados out of Capcom and MadCatz HQ today. A new shipment of the specialty controllers and arcade sticks for (and that should have come <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/sfiv-tiger-uppercuts-pc-this-summer-may-include-mad-catz-fighti/">bundled</a> with) <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Street-Fighter-IV/">Street Fighter IV</a></em> will be available soon. Darin from the <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/djay/blog/2009/03/16/great_news_from_madcatz">Capcom Unity Blog </a>sends word that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/MadCatz/">MadCatz</a> will have a <em>few</em> units of the popular -- but <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/16/owners-report-mad-catz-sfiv-fightstick-defects/">somewhat</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/19/mad-catz-well-under-50-complaints-about-fightsticks/">problematic</a> -- controllers by the end of this month and the end of April.<br /><br />While the number of units isn't being thrown around, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Capcom/">Capcom</a> says there should be enough stock to take care of most, if not all, existing orders. As for the ability to one day walk into a store and freely purchase a unit off the shelf ... let's not talk crazy, folks.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/17/capcom-more-madcatz-street-fighter-4-controllers-by-april/">Capcom: More MadCatz Street Fighter 4 controllers by April</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 Mar 2009 22:00:00 EST. Our very personal bestest friend, Major Nelson, has posted <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/03/10/live-activity-for-week-of-march-2nd.aspx">Xbox Live activity</a> for the week of March 2nd. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3">Halo</a> </em>continues its never-ending battle with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty"><em>Call of Duty</em></a> with <em>Halo 3</em> nudging <em>World at War</em> from the top spot. <em>Call of Duty 4</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war-2"><em>Gears of War 2</em></a> (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/31/video-taking-aim-at-multiple-glitches-in-gears-of-war-2/">somehow</a>) and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gtaiv"><em>GTAIV</em></a> round out the top five.<em> <br /><br /></em>The <em>Halo</em> series receives some backup this week, with newcomer<em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-wars">Halo Wars</a></em> debuting at number six. On top of that, the <em>Halo Wars</em> demo inched up the top ten, moving from the ninth most played to the eighth. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fifa-09"><em>FIFA 09</em></a> moves up a notch to number 9, shoving <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sfiv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> to the tenth spot.<br /><br />Considering the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/03/x3f-tv-behold-the-halo-wars-limited-edition-unboxing/">limited edition of <em>Halo Wars</em></a> including the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/20/video-halo-3-mythic-map-pack-preview-now-in-hd/">Mythic Map Pack</a>, it might have had <em>something</em> to do with <em>Halo 3</em> reclaiming the top spot. The big question now is whether or not <em>Halo Wars</em> can maintain its momentum. As one of the few RTS games to make a big splash on consoles, you can bet Microsoft is watching it closely.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/10/halo-3-back-on-top-of-live-charts-halo-wars-debuts-at-6/">Halo 3 back on top of Live charts, Halo Wars debuts at #6</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 Mar 2009 13:30:00 EST. For our PC brethren that have been watching <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/23/street-fighter-iv-ships-two-million-units-worldwide/">2 million console gamers</a> with envious eyes, know that your time will come, uh, <em>months from now</em>, as Capcom has dropped word that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/18/joystiq-review-street-fighter-iv/">Street Fighter IV</a> </em>could be arriving on the PC as soon as this summer. Capcom vice president of business development, Christian Svensson, even says that Capcom has been in talks with Mad Catz to bundle <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/19/mad-catz-well-under-50-complaints-about-fightsticks/">one of those <em>SFIV</em> fight sticks</a> with the game. "I'm in talks with Mad Catz to figure out how can we actually do some bundles of pads and Street Fighter IV PC," said Christian. <br /><br />However, a release date of "this summer" isn't even set in stone for the game. When asked about the PC version's release, Christian merely responded by saying, "Let's say summer." We have a feeling a lot of PC gamers have some choice words for Christian, but we remember what our teachers told us about <em>assuming</em>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/">Street Fighter IV</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337097"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/guile_006-252009-37_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337096"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/dan_004-252009-26_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337095"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cviper_001-252009-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337094"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/balrog_005-252009-49_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337093"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/seth_004-252009-8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/sfiv-tiger-uppercuts-pc-this-summer-may-include-mad-catz-fighti/">SFIV Tiger Uppercuts PC this summer, may include Mad Catz fighting stick</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Feb 2009 15:02:00 EST. Well, <em>this</em> is awkward. David Sirlin, a major designer behind <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithdr"><em>Super Street Fighter II HD Remix</em></a> (and the awesome <em>Super Puzzle Fighter II HD Remix</em>) is <a href="http://www.sirlin.net/blog/2009/2/22/a-few-things-about-street-fighter-4.html">calling out <em>Street Fighter IV</em></a>. More specifically, he's calling out reviewers who call the game accessible to casual gamers. Sirlin points out a number of complicated commands used in the game as well as a host of very technical maneuvers that only dedicated <em>Street Fighter </em>players can pull off.<br /><br />"Qcf x 2 +PPP all the time, extra button presses to throw, extra button presses to roman cancel, and many, many extremely difficult link combos work in concert to create that impenetrable wall of execution between you and the actual game," writes Sirlin. Throughout the lengthy piece, Sirlin notes that several things were added to <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/sfiv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> that were unnecessary and only serve to make the game more complex. The end result, according to Sirlin: Playing the game becomes more about mastering esoteric techniques than focusing on strategy. To be fair, Sirlin does say that there's no reason the game has to cater to a casual audience, but he finds it puzzling that so many reviews claim that it does.<br /><br />What do you think? What do these seemingly unrelated phenomena have in common? The Number 108 ...<br /> <br />

<br />The UK's Zak Bennett has sealed his inseparable fate to this sacred number by setting the <em>SFIV</em> record at a London launch event last Friday, now confirms Guinness World Records. Initially, Bennett was defeated after only 28 consecutive wins, but even that was enough to break the previous record -- set at a paltry 10 wins. Still, <em>something</em> inspired him to try again. In his second attempt, Bennett would not be defeated for 108 consecutive matches. (Guinness did not confirm, however, just what caliber of opponents Bennett faced during his immaculate run.) Quick! Nearly two decades have passed since <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_II">Street Fighter II</a> flooded arcades. Having grown up with the franchise, like other children of the '90s, my heart holds a special place for Capcom's premier fighting franchise.<br /><br />When <span style="font-style: italic;">Street Fighter IV</span> was first <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/street-fighter-iv-is-official-involves-fighting/">announced</a>, an immediate excitement washed over me, which then quickly turned into panic. Melding the perfected 2D gameplay with ... 3D!? Blasphemy! I've never been the petitioning sort, but the laundry list of changes coming to the franchise nearly had me storming the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Capcom/">Capcom</a> (and co-developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/DIMPS/">DIMPS</a>) offices.<br /><br />Fortunately, my laziness -- and inability to secure fake passports -- paid off and an invasion was not required. After sinking time into both console versions of <span style="font-style: italic;">Street Fighter IV</span>, it is clear and easy to admit: Capcom has delivered.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/">Street Fighter IV</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337097"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/guile_006-252009-37_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337096"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/dan_004-252009-26_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337095"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cviper_001-252009-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337094"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/balrog_005-252009-49_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337093"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/seth_004-252009-8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/18/joystiq-review-street-fighter-iv/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq Review: Street Fighter IV</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/18/joystiq-review-street-fighter-iv/">Joystiq Review: Street Fighter IV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Feb 2009 14:44:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">Seth Killian is the Community Manager at Capcom, which means he spends his days playing games and interacting with fans. It's a tough job, but <span style="font-style: italic;">somebody</span> has to do it. Seth has had his hands full lately with the <span style="font-style: italic;">Street Fighter IV</span> launch and the upcoming release of<span style="font-style: italic;"> Resident Evil 5</span> -- and will hopefully be kept even busier if <span style="font-style: italic;">Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</span> is finally brought to the US. (Can we add a new <span style="font-style: italic;">Darkstalkers</span> to the wish list, too?)<br /><br />We caught up with Seth at the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/16/joystiq-at-the-street-fighter-iv-launch-party/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Street Fighter IV</span> launch party</a> to get the skinny on all things <span style="font-style: italic;">Street Fighter,</span> Capcom's plans for future "<span style="font-style: italic;">Vs</span>. games," what's happening with <span style="font-style: italic;">Viewtiful Joe</span>, and where Seth likes to get his game on in Los Angeles.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/">Street Fighter IV</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337097"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/guile_006-252009-37_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337096"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/dan_004-252009-26_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337095"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/cviper_001-252009-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337094"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/balrog_005-252009-49_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-1/#1337093"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/seth_004-252009-8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div>

Just in time for the impending release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a>, owners of the standard <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/07/mad-catz-reveals-street-fighter-iv-controllers-accessories/">MadCatz FightStick</a> are <a href="http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=176026">reporting several problems</a> with the peripheral. Reported on the <a href="http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=176026">Shoryuken.com forums</a> (which seem to be overloaded as of press time), the various problems include the joystick itself sticking in certain positions and sticky buttons. <br /><br />Other users are reporting that the controller may fail to register certain directions on the stick or certain button presses, with at least one user reporting that the stick stopped registering all inputs entirely. Certain users have attributed the stuck joystick inputs to a metal washer that actually grinds away at the inner workings of the stick while in use.<br /><br />In a statement to Joystiq, Mad Catz Global PR &amp; Communications Manager, Alex Verrey, said, "There are no major problems with the Street Fighter range of products. Customers can buy with complete confidence."<br /><br />"As with all complex precision-engineered products, there is always a chance that a tiny percentage of product may exhibit a fault," said Verrey, adding, "This is TOTALLY normal and not at all unexpected. Usually this is due to circumstances beyond our control but this does NOT mean that there is any kind of inherent fault with the design or manufacture of the product." Verrey advises all customers who have encountered a problem to contact Mad Catz directly for a repair (visit <a href="http://madcatz.com/Default.asp?page=223">this link</a> for Mad Catz warranty information).<br /><br />For those that already have a standard FightStick, have you experienced similar problems?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/16/owners-report-mad-catz-sfiv-fightstick-defects/">Owners report Mad Catz SFIV FightStick defects</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Feb 2009 17:10:00 EST. We hope you've all been tightening up your Hadoukens and hitting the ceiling with your Flash Kicks, because when <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv">Street Fighter IV</a> </em>releases in the U.S. on February 17, you're going to need to bring your best moves. Capcom has dropped word that the fun begins before the game even releases, as the <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/s-kill/blog/2009/02/03/youre_invited_the_street_fighter_iv_launch_event_"><em>Street Fighter IV </em>launch party is open to the public</a>. <br /><br />At this launch party, producer Yoshinori Ono will be available for autographs, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/capcom">Capcom</a> has even enlisted the aid of performers DJ QBert, Supreme Soul, and The Knux, if live music is your kind of thing. There will even be customized sketching by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/udon">Udon</a> artists, and, of course, a chance of winning copies of <em>Street Fighter IV</em>.<br /><br />If you live near the Los Angeles area, then head past the break for full details on the event.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/12/psa-street-fighter-iv-launch-party-open-to-the-public/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PSA: Street Fighter IV launch party open to the public</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/12/psa-street-fighter-iv-launch-party-open-to-the-public/">PSA: Street Fighter IV launch party open to the public</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Feb 2009 03:30:00 EST. Anticipating the release of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Street-Fighter-IV/">Street Fighter IV</a></em> and a horrifying new film (<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-legend-of-chun-li/">Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li</a></em>), <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3172664">1UP</a> has compiled some of the best scenes from <em><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111301/">Street Fighter: The Movie</a></em>, one of our generation's best unintentional comedies of all time.<br /><br />Pieced together from choice sequences of the 1994 debacle, the feature showcases some of the cheesy one-liners, awkwardly choreographed fight scenes and cringe-worthy fan service moments that make <em>Street Fighter: The Movie </em>one of the best -- and ironic -- films you <em>must</em> own. Seriously, the Blu-Ray version was <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/02/09/blu-ray-releases-for-the-week-of-february-8/">released this week</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/12/best-of-the-worst-street-fighter-the-movie-highlights/">Best of the Worst: Street Fighter The Movie highlights</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Feb 2009 02:30:00 EST. <div align="left">Are you 'that guy' at the arcade? The guy calmly defeating challenger after challenger on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/16/street-fighter-iv-not-coming-to-u-s-arcades/">gray market <em>Street Fighter IV</em> cabinet</a>, milking your dollar bill for all it's worth? You know, the guy <em>stealing all our money</em>? Well how would you feel if we told you that Capcom is partnering up with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gamestop">GameStop</a> and the <a href="http://evo2k.com/">EVO Championship Series</a> to bring you the very first <em>Street Fighter IV</em> National Tournament? Your head would explode?! Uh oh, maybe we should have kept this to ourselves...<br /><br />Anyway, starting on February 21st at "<a href="http://www.gamestop.com/gs/tournaments/sf4/SF4TournamentStoresRnd1.pdf">locations EVERYWHERE</a>" (warning: PDF link), GameStop will hold the first of three rounds determining the best of the best <em>SFIV</em> players in the country. Following that, the second round will take place on February 28th at "regional stores" and second-round victors will move on to the semi-finals on March 14th. Finally, the 16 winners of the semi-finals will be flown to San Francisco for the final competition, where they'll all receive the upcoming <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/01/08/mad-catz-announces-sfiv-controllers-accessories/"><em>SFIV</em> Mad Catz arcade sticks and fighting pads</a>, limited edition tournament belts and a place in the semi-final bracket at the <a href="http://evo2k.com/?p=169">EVO World Finals</a> in Las Vegas. But what, pray tell, does the winner of the final round get? How about an official <em>Street Fighter IV</em> arcade cabinet? If you haven't already burst out the door and run to a GameStop to sign up, you may want to do so posthaste.<br /></div>

We love <em>Street Fighter</em> as much as the last guy who grew up in the age of the arcade, so we know a lack of balance when we see it. That said, <em>Street Fighter IV</em>'s achievements are not for the faint of heart. Starting off as simple as winning your first ranked match, they also include defeating <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/26/gouken-added-to-hidden-roster-of-street-fighter-iv/">Master Gouken</a> as you clear the arcade mode's hardest difficulty setting.<br /><br />Those brave enough to go after all 47 achievements -- most of which are more time consuming than actually difficult -- can check after the break for the full list. Oh, and if we see you online, don't just sit there doing the <a href="http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Hundred%20Hand%20Slap">Hundred Hand Slap</a>. Sure, it's a legitimate technique... but so is strangling you with our controller cables. Just kidding! Our controllers are wireless.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/31/street-fighter-iv-achievements-are-down-right-fierce/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Street Fighter IV's achievements are down+right+fierce</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/31/street-fighter-iv-achievements-are-down-right-fierce/">Street Fighter IV's achievements are down+right+fierce</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 31 Jan 2009 13:30:00 EST. Those who are in the market for a new controller -- or are just feeling an overwhelming surge of <em>Street Fighter IV</em> excitement that only spending money can satisfy -- should hit up the <a href="http://shop.capcom.com/DRHM/servlet/SecureControllerServlet?Action=DisplayProductSearchResultsPage&amp;SiteID=capcomus&amp;keywords=street+fighter+stick">Capcom Store</a>. Why? Because everything is currently 10% off retail. <br /><br />Admittedly, you'll have to do some work to get the 10% off, but the process is as easy as: 1) Add an item to your cart. 2) Exit the shopping cart screen by clicking towards the storefront. 3) A pop-up appears with a 10% off offer. Just make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off.<br /><br />Once the coupon code is applied, you can grab any flavor of the new <em>SFIV </em>FightPads or even a <a href="http://shop.capcom.com/DRHM/servlet/SecureControllerServlet?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&amp;SiteID=capcomus&amp;Locale=en_US&amp;Env=BASE&amp;productID=106620100">too-cool T-Shirt</a>. Sadly, the highly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/mad-catz-talks-supply-demand-issues-of-sfiv-fightstick/">coveted FightSticks</a> are sold out. Note too that you'll also have to account for shipping charges.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/?f=746">Cheap Ass Gamer</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/28/10-off-sfiv-fightpads-and-entire-capcom-store-order/">10% off Street Fighter IV FightPads and entire Capcom Store order</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 Jan 2009 16:30:00 EST. Okay, okay. We <em>know</em> that <em>Street Fighter</em> has always had a plot. We don't want any angry otaku in here. But seriously, for a game about efficiently beating the snot out of people, the plot of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sfiv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> is <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088763/quotes"><em>heavy</em></a>. The latest trailer for the game highlights the story and gives a little background as to why everyone keeps on fighting in the street. Whether or not you spend any time reflecting on it whilst pounding your opponent, well, that's up to you.<br /><br />We've embedded the trailer after the break. Here's a fun exercise. Close your eyes, listen to the trailer and imagine a <em>Street Fighter </em>movie that's actually good. At <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/29/this-is-actually-the-new-trailer-for-the-street-fighter-movie/">the rate things are going</a>, it's the closest you're going to get.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/21/new-street-fighter-iv-feature-revealed-a-plot/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New Street Fighter IV feature revealed: A plot</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/21/new-street-fighter-iv-feature-revealed-a-plot/">New Street Fighter IV feature revealed: A plot</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Jan 2009 18:30:00 EST. You see, we were watching the new <em>Street Fighter IV </em>trailer and, beautiful though it may be, we had to mute it halfway through. The video, which highlights each of the game's characters, has some pretty cornball material -- we're talking laughing <em>at</em>, not laughing <em>with.</em><br /><br />... Then again, once we get our hands on the game, we'll probably be too enthralled to notice. <em>SFIV</em> is set to punch you in the face on February 17.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/21/new-street-fighter-iv-trailer-looks-awesome-sounds-not-awesome/">New Street Fighter IV trailer looks awesome, sounds not awesome</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Jan 2009 17:28:00 EST. Read this, know this, feel it in your <em>bones</em>: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/50-cent-blood-on-the-sand"><em>50 Cent: Blood on the Sand</em></a> has been <a href="http://forums.gametrailers.com/?do=show_thread&amp;id=579968">scored higher</a> than both <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/killzone-2">Killzone 2</a> and</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a>. This comes as GameTrailers member G00se has posted scans of the latest issue, in which <em>50 Cent</em> is given a 4/5, <em>Killzone 2</em> a 3.5/5 and <em>Street Fighter IV</em> a 3/5. <em>Maxim </em>calls <em>50 Cent</em> "a wanksta proof gem," noting its new Fiddy songs, co-op play and "a story that is <em>Indiana Jones</em> meets <em>Scarface</em>." <em>Killzone 2</em> -- which the magazine refers to as <em>Kill Zone 2</em> -- is labeled "the hottest girl at the ball, if not quite the best dancer." And <em>SFIV</em>? <em>Maxim</em> notes that "it takes the series to 3D" -- even though that actually happened <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_EX">ages ago</a> -- but "loses a fistful of its old-school soul."<br /><br />We can't think of any possible way to expand upon this. No, really, that's all we got.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/01/20/50-cent-game-better-than-killzone-2-and-street-fighter-iv-says-ma/">PS3 Fanboy</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/20/oh-snap-maxim-scores-50-cent-2-higher-than-killzone-2-sfiv/">Oh snap: Maxim scores 50 Cent 2 higher than Killzone 2, SFIV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Jan 2009 14:15:00 EST. There's something simultaneously marvelous and terrifying about Ultra moves in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a>. It's a feeling that's been with the series for a long time now, actually. You see, it's marvelous for the person utilizing the Ultra move, but <em>terrifying</em> for the one on the receiving end (at least if he's not prepared for it). Think about it. What isn't marvelous / terrifying about seeing that life bar instantly drop by half (or more)? Obviously understanding our desire / fear to see tons of the Ultra moves performed in one video, Gametrailers has created a <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/44358.html">montage</a> of them. It's like they can read minds over there! Now you can check out most of the Ultra moves -- from a safe distance -- without putting <em>your</em> life bar on the line. Check out the video after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/15/video-the-ultra-moves-of-street-fighter-iv/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: The Ultra moves of Street Fighter IV</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/15/video-the-ultra-moves-of-street-fighter-iv/">Video: The Ultra moves of Street Fighter IV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 Jan 2009 18:30:00 EST. Speaking with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/mad-catz-talks-supply-demand-issues-of-sfiv-fightstick/">Joystiq</a> in response to an article on <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/mad-catz-claims-huge-demand-for-fightstick">Eurogamer</a>, Mad Catz PR lead, Alex Verrey, spoke candidly about the overwhelming demand and supply issue for the $150 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/08/mad-catz-announces-sfiv-controllers-accessories/"><em>Street Fighter IV</em> FightStick</a>. According to Verrey, Mad Catz originally limited the run of arcade controllers to 3,000 units but have received "many, many times that amount" in pre-orders, which caught the accessory developer off-guard.<br /><br />The sticks are currently going back into production but development could take some time, so those who recently pre-ordered it will probably not have a FightStick day-and-date with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sfiv">Street Fighter IV</a></em>. Mad Catz wouldn't share region allocation numbers with Joystiq but did say the company has every intention to meet pre-order demand. As for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers/1264706/">other controllers</a>, you should be fine picking one up without much hassle.<br /><br />

Speaking with <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/mad-catz-claims-huge-demand-for-fightstick">Eurogamer</a> earlier today, peripheral manufacturer <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/mad-catz">Mad Catz</a> revealed a struggle to meet UK demand for the <em>Street Fighter IV</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/07/mad-catz-reveals-street-fighter-iv-controllers-accessories/">FightStick: Tournament Edition</a> (pictured). Considering the UK is "over there" and we're, well, over here, we wanted to see the situation report for North America.<br /><br />We spoke with the company's PR head, Alex Verrey, who was surprisingly candid about the situation. The issue is that the initial production run of the $150 Tournament stick consisted of 3,000 units. The company's pre-order count is now "many, many, times that amount," which Verrey admits caught the manufacturer by surprise. The sticks are currently going back into production, but it will take a little time for turnaround. Naturally, more units were allotted for North America than Europe, but he couldn't get into numbers. Although many who order now may not get the stick day and date with <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv">SF IV</a></em>'s release, we were informed the company intends to make sure that pre-order demand is met.<br /><br />As for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/07/mad-catz-reveals-street-fighter-iv-controllers-accessories/">other official <em>Street Fighter IV</em> controllers</a>, Verrey believes that there should be adequate supply. Another topic we discussed at length was the quality of Mad Catz products, and he asked that consumers don't think of this Mad Catz as the same one they remember. He emphasized the new Mad Catz has evolved and is focusing more on quality. He reiterated that its wares come with a two-year warranty and they are committed to better products. We've placed pricing details for the <em>SF IV</em> controllers after the break. <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers/">Mad Catz Street Fighter IV controllers</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers/#1264708"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/mad-catz-sfiv-peripherals-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Xbox 360 SFIV FightStick Tournament" title="Xbox 360 SFIV FightStick Tournament" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers/#1264707"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/mad-catz-sfiv-peripherals-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="PS3 Street Fighter IV FightStick" title="PS3 Street Fighter IV FightStick" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers/#1264706"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/mad-catz-sfiv-peripherals-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="PS3 SFIV FighTPad Ryu" title="PS3 SFIV FighTPad Ryu" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers/#1264705"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/mad-catz-sfiv-peripherals-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="PS3 SFIV FightPad Chun Li" title="PS3 SFIV FightPad Chun Li" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/mad-catz-talks-supply-demand-issues-of-sfiv-fightstick/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mad Catz talks supply, demand issues of SFIV FightStick</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/mad-catz-talks-supply-demand-issues-of-sfiv-fightstick/">Mad Catz talks supply, demand issues of SFIV FightStick</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 16:57:00 EST. Mad Catz has <a href="http://capcom.gamespress.com/link.asp?i=114&amp;r=67&amp;r2=46">announced</a> a new line of controllers and accessories designed especially with <em>Street Fighter </em>fans in mind. First up, the company has the FightPad, which features an arcade style six button layout and (blessedly) a floating eight-way D-pad. For more serious fighting fanatics, there is the FightStick an arcade style joystick with an eight button layout. For <em>really</em> serious fighting fans, there's the FightStick Tournament, which features authentic Sanwa parts. In fact, it uses the same parts found in actual <em>Street Fighter IV</em> arcade cabinets. As if that weren't enough, the design of the FightStick Tournament is being overseen by <em>SFIV</em> producer Yoshinori Ono himself. Also on offer will be a <em>Street Fighter IV</em> faceplate, wall scroll, and (ahem) Console Skinz.<br /><br />All the <em>Street Fighter IV</em> Mad Catz products are scheduled to ship alongside the release of the game in February. No prices have been announced yet, which means we can still dream that the FightStick Tournament will be offered for the low, low price of <em>free</em>. Find a gallery of the new controllers below.<br /><br />

<br />With a little more than a month left before <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> hurricane kicks its way to retail, the peripheral mystics at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mad-catz">Mad Catz</a> have announced a bevy of <em>SFIV</em>-themed accessories. Now, even if you don't know your sonic boom from your yoga flame you'll at least look like you do.<br /><br />Set for release alongside the anticipated fighter's February debut, the lineup includes an official <em>Street Fighter IV </em>controller and arcade stick for the Xbox 360 and PS3, each adorned with the game's unique art style. Additionally, those pining for a more authentic arcade experience can pick up the stick's 'Tournament Edition,' which will feature "arcade quality" components and a design overseen by <em>SFIV </em>producer Yoshinori Ono. Not enough? A wall scroll, console stickies and faceplates are also on the way, though we expect true fans to dye their skin green or comb their blond hair to preposterous heights before they stand a chance to defeat Sheng Long.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers/">Mad Catz Street Fighter IV controllers</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers/#1264708"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/mad-catz-sfiv-peripherals-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Xbox 360 SFIV FightStick Tournament" title="Xbox 360 SFIV FightStick Tournament" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers/#1264707"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/mad-catz-sfiv-peripherals-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="PS3 Street Fighter IV FightStick" title="PS3 Street Fighter IV FightStick" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers/#1264706"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/mad-catz-sfiv-peripherals-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="PS3 SFIV FighTPad Ryu" title="PS3 SFIV FighTPad Ryu" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mad-catz-street-fighter-iv-controllers/#1264705"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/mad-catz-sfiv-peripherals-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="PS3 SFIV FightPad Chun Li" title="PS3 SFIV FightPad Chun Li" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/07/mad-catz-reveals-street-fighter-iv-controllers-accessories/">Mad Catz reveals Street Fighter IV controllers, accessories</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Jan 2009 22:00:00 EST. Community managers for Microsoft and Sony are finally taking it to the street, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sfiv">Street Fighter IV</a></em> that is. According to <a href="http://kotaku.com/5116522/street-fighter-iv-battle-pits-capcom-against-microsoft-against-sony" target="_blank">Kotaku</a>, this year's Consumer Electronics Show will host a large-scale tournament for the anticipated fighter that pits Microsoft, Sony and Capcom reps against each other. Three 20-person teams, captained by Microsoft's Larry Hryb (aka <a href="http://www.majornelson.com">Major Nelson</a>), Sony's Jeff Rubenstein, and Capcom's Seth Killian, will throw down during the January 2009 trade show in search of gaming fame's best.<br /><br />Console grudge match or clever marketing scheme? Regardless, this will be one of the few times Microsoft and Sony reps will be able to hit each other legally. We don't want to call a winner yet, but we can't wait to see the Vegas odds on this one. Microsoft and Sony going up against <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Capcom/">Capcom</a> in <em>Street Fighter IV</em>? Yeah, good luck with <em>that</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/24/microsoft-sony-reps-to-face-off-in-street-fighter-iv-grudge-mat/">Microsoft, Sony reps to face off in Street Fighter IV grudge match</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 24 Dec 2008 15:30:00 EST. With the final character announced for the console version of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sfiv">Street Fighter IV</a></em> -- it was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-character-roster/1235930/">Rose</a>, by the way -- the final roster for the anticipated title rounds out to a robust 25 fighters. Looking for a quick guide? The fine folks at Joystiq have compiled a gallery introducing (and in a lot of cases reintroducing) gamers to the entire ragtag list of world fighters. Complete with our usual brand of wit, the gallery features some interesting screenshots like the one above featuring <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iv-character-roster/1236001/">Blanka</a> in a Jungle Adventurer outfit. Yesterday, Capcom unveiled some changes made to the Collector's Edition retail packaging of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sfiv">Street Fighter IV</a></em>. Originally featuring Chun-Li at the ready for a brawl, Capcom had a total change of heart regarding the cover art thanks to fan feedback. "We had a total re-think on our <em>SFIV</em> packaging," Capcom's PR director, Chris Kramer, wrote on the <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/kramez/blog/2008/12/19/street_fighter_iv_collectors_edition_details_and_new_standard_edition_box_for_north_america">Capcom-Unity blog</a>. "We have opted to drop <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/09/street-fighter-iv-collectors-edition-headed-to-us/">the initial Chun-Li</a> packfront in favor of <em>Street Fighter IV</em> art director Ikeno-san's amazing Ryu vs. Ken illustration."<br /> <br /> Priced at $79.99, <em>Street Fighter</em> enthusiasts can expect to enjoy a soundtrack CD, hint book with Udon art and a C. Viper figurine -- but we're still hoping they come to their senses and swap that for Akuma or Ken. Not content with leaving Xbox 360 fanboys out in the standard definition dust, Capcom has confirmed the final piece of collector's swag -- a new 65-minute anime movie, <em>The Ties That Bind</em> -- has been encoded on a special game disc (not a standard DVD) which has allowed creators at <a href="http://www.studio4c.co.jp/english/" title="Tekkon Kinkreet and Animatrix!" target="_blank">Studio 4C</a> to output the film at a native 720p resolution.<br /> <br /> Finally, Capcom says the collector's edition will also include some "secret additional downloadable content," which GameStop had previously listed as new costumes, but has since revised.<br /><br />[via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/19/street-fighter-iv-gets-new-us-box-art-updated-collectors-editi/">Joystiq</a>]<br /> <br />

We've got good news and bad news. The good news is that the collector's edition of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sfiv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/05/street-fighter-iv-collectors-edition-goes-big/">announced last week</a>) is headed to the United States after all. The collector's edition -- with the hefty price of $79.99 -- is now <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=72490">listed on GameStop.com</a>. The bad news: The 360 and PS3 versions of the CE are getting different goodies. While both versions will include a soundtrack CD, strategy guide, costume DLC and a bonus disc with the <em>Street Fighter </em>anime movie, each will include a different <em>Street Fighter </em>figurine. Xbox 360 collector's edition buyers will get a Crimson Viper figurine, while PS3 buyers get a Ryu figurine. Call us suckers for nostalgia, but we'd rather have Ryu. At least we can pretend to be Ryu though, as GameStop is offering a free Ryu headband for pre-ordering either version.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/09/street-fighter-iv-collectors-edition-headed-to-us/">Street Fighter IV Collector's Edition headed to US</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Dec 2008 14:30:00 EST. <div align="left">Today, Capcom <a href="http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/18330/Street-Fighter-IV-Collectors-Edition-Announced/">revealed</a> a big box of collectible <em>Street Fighter</em> fun, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> Collector's Edition. According to the press release, the Collector's Edition will be made available in Europe and Australia (no U.S. release seems suspect) and will include the game, a bonus disc featuring an HD quality anime movie and game trailers, a mini-strategy guide, exclusive downloadable content and two mini figures of Ryu and newcomer Crimson Viper. Even cooler is that all the bonus content comes housed in a diorama-like scene from the classic <em>Street Fighter</em>. RYU-KICK!<br /></div>

<ul>
    <li>Limited edition figurines of all time favourite character Ryu and the all new character Crimson Viper, positioned within the familiar settings of the 'crowded Chinese downtown'.</li>
    <li>A bonus disc containing a feature length HD quality anime movie, created specially for the launch of Street Fighter IV and a selection of the best game trailers to date.</li>
    <li>A mini strategy guide created in the style of a comic art book detailing the moves and biographies of four of the new characters to the series; Viper, Abel, El Fuerte and Rufus</li>
    <li>Exclusive downloadable game content.</li>
