Shantae and the Pirate's Curse has the now fully human Shantae teaming up with the pirate Risky Boots, who has just the best name, to find the 30 Tinkerbats who have stolen Shantae's genie powers.

As a result of her de-geniefication, Shantae relies on "Pirate Gear" she finds in labyrinths, instead of dance powers, to gain new abilities and access new locales. The Bone Daggers, for example, can be thrown into walls to make footholds.
