When <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/official-ugo-buys-1up-egm-dead/">Electronic Gaming Monthly closed its doors back in January</a>, it not only left behind an issue that never got published but also a brand that gamers everywhere easily recognized. The magazine's original founder, Steve Harris, recently <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/29/egm-sold-to-original-founder-resuming-publication-this-year/">bought back the rights to the magazine</a> (as well as online rights), and this week he spoke with <a href="http://www.pubexec.com/article/im-not-trying-ignore-digital-im-counting-it-big-ideas-behind-relaunch-egm-409029_1.html">Publishing Executive</a> to detail a bit of his plans for his new venture.<br /><br />"The new Electronic Gaming Monthly will let you take your magazine and its content from print to computer to wireless devices -- even to your television," he says in the piece, continuing, "Content will be delivered via a digital device included with each issue." He doesn't go on to explain whether he means a thumb drive or a CD or what, but we're just as curious as you are to know more about the rebirth of a magazine we grew up reading -- and <em>hated</em> after hours spent trying to find <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheng_Long">Sheng Long</a>. Curse you, early-to-mid-90s game magazine editors!<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.bitmob.com/index.php/component/content/article/1/1663-big-hints-at-egms-future">Bitmob</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/05/steve-harris-hints-at-the-future-of-the-reborn-egm/">Steve Harris hints at the future of the reborn EGM</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 05 Jul 2009 15:00:00 EST. Gouken, who is often mistakenly referred to as Sheng Long, will be a computer-controlled character only -- meaning he is not set to be a playable character in the upcoming fighter.<br /><br />Many back stories exist for the fallen master of Ryu and Ken, but we have a few favorites. In one familiar back story, Gouken is challenged by his brother Akuma, who is also the murderer of their master Goutetsu, where Akuma eventually kills his brother in the altercation. Another story, set up as the basis of Ken and Ryu's journey in <em>Street Fighter II</em>, sees Gouken killed by the invading mastermind M. Bison.<br /><br />Capcom promises the character will require a <a href="http://www.capcom-fc.com/sf4/2008/09/post_61.html">special unlock procedure </a>but we think it's safe to say that when Gouken is squaring off against you, he will be one tough hombre to <em>wrassle</em> with.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/26/gouken-added-to-hidden-roster-of-street-fighter-iv/">Gouken added to hidden roster of Street Fighter IV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Sep 2008 10:30:00 EST.
