Wii + UPS = BFF [update 1]

Fearless Joystiq reader Travisty of Justice braved the rain and was on hand in Atlanta today to witness UPS officially deliver the first shipment of Wiis to Best Buy. It's a snoozetastic corporate photo op, but hey ... you're just a few short days away from seeing those in stores. Baby steps.

He ventured outside to talk to the folks waiting through drizzle in the PS3 line, but when he asked if they were buying one to keep or to sell on eBay, they gave him the brushoff. Maybe they were afraid this Best Buy would boot them out of line. Release the corporate hounds!

Check out the video of the event after the jump. Someone, please start hiring spokespeople with a little razzle-dazzle, okay?

[Thanks, Travisty]

[Update: fixed spelling, d'oh!]

Steamy action as Wii & Zelda get ready to ship

Wii production facilities and employees are in full swing, packaging up what could be your preorder right before your very eyes. In less than a week those cardboard boxes will be arriving at doorsteps, stores and secret headquarters throughout North America. Will you be getting down with it?

So says a recent Nintendo press release hyping the mobilization of Wii shipments, most of which will be focused on the Americas.

Despite the massive roll out, Nintendo still expects demand to outstrip initial supplies based on retailer orders and consumer requests. Then again, Nintendo could hardly be expected to say that these things are going to rot on the shelves, so take it as you will.

While there's no real news in this release, just the thought of millions of Wiis rolling off those assembly lines and into shipping crates is enough to warm the heart of any anticipatory gamer. Mmmm ...
