She's not a hustler, but when we lived in a small town with nothing to do, we'd hit the same dive bars and Mexican restaurants every week so she could sing while I slowly got soused. We own a karaoke machine and a hundred or so discs, and instead of hiring a regular DJ our wedding reception was one big karaoke party. My wife doesn't play games but she owns almost every Karaoke Revolution and breaks out the <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/rock-band-3">Rock Band</a> mic every few weeks. She knows karaoke, she knows karaoke games, and she knows that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/sing-party"><em>Sing Party</em></a> isn't particularly great at either.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sing-party-review/">Sing Party (Review)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sing-party-review/#5435763"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/11/sany0184_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sing-party-review/#5435764"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/11/sany0188_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sing-party-review/#5435765"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/11/singparty1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sing-party-review/#5435766"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/11/singparty2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sing-party-review/#5435767"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/11/singparty3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/15/sing-party-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sing Party review: Vocal opposition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/15/sing-party-review/">Sing Party review: Vocal opposition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2012 13:00:00 EST. Developed by Freestyle Games, the developers behind <em>DJ Hero</em>, <em>Sing</em> will combine karaoke singing with lyrics on the Wii Pad with a dance running game on your television. The only track released for the game so far is Carly Rae Jepsen's shiny pop hit, "Call Me Maybe," but we'll wait for more info on the game later this week.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/05/sing-announced-for-the-wii-u-by-dj-hero-devs/">Sing announced for the Wii U, by DJ Hero devs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 Jun 2012 12:37:00 EST. Even though some of us have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/25/nintendo-media-summit-boogie-hands-on-wii/">played <span style="font-style: italic;">Boogie</span></a>, the title continues to confuse others. Today's video pick is the first time it made sense for this writer: instead of a dancing-and-singing game, it's a game where you control a dancing-and-singing puppet. Finally, the lack of direct correlation between controllers and avatars -- like left controller for left arm -- makes sense.<br /><br />It's still too early to predict <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/boogie"><span style="font-style: italic;">Boogie's</span></a> success, but at least we finally understand the basics. And it took us long enough -- the title is close to shipping, with an August 9, 2007 release. See the video after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/19/todays-finally-understandable-video-boogie/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Today's finally understandable video: Boogie</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/19/todays-finally-understandable-video-boogie/">Today's finally understandable video: Boogie</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Jun 2007 00:00:00 EST. The new IP will take advantage of the Wii's unique controls, encouraging gamers to sing and sway along with the karaoke/dance game. The reports of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mic">microphone peripheral</a> for the Wii remote seem indisputable now, but we're puzzled as to how it will work since the nunchuck will already be attached to the controller's bottom port. <br /> <br />Players will be able to customize their characters and even "[star] in their own music videos." We're not sure if that means <em>Boogie</em> will allow us to import our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mii">Miis</a>, but it would be a criminal oversight if the game didn't. Judging by the screenshots released so far, it would pain us to hear that our character selection would be limited to <em>SpongeBob</em> rejects with chest hair.<br /><br />EA Montreal (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssxblur"><em>SSX Blur</em></a>) is handling development for this Wii-exclusive game, and they expect to release the title worldwide later this year. Check out the first screenshots for <em>Boogie</em> after the post break!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/22/ea-reveals-wii-exclusive-boogie/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EA reveals Wii-exclusive game: Boogie</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/22/ea-reveals-wii-exclusive-boogie/">EA reveals Wii-exclusive game: Boogie</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 22 Mar 2007 13:30:00 EST. Using Konami's <em>Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol</em>, players will sing a favorite song, and videos of top scorers will be posted for internet <strike>humiliation</strike> voting. The most internet-famous singer will then be flown to a real "American Idol" taping to stare longingly at the actual singers.<br /><br />The contest begins today at the <a href="http://www.ziffdavis.com/products/events/digitallife">DigitalLife</a> expo in New York and reaches 10 cities through mid-November. Players can register on-site.<br /><br />The full schedule follows:<br />

Well, you might be in luck (even if you're not attending), as a few famous folks from the concert will be on hand to sign autographs in Chicago proper for free tonight.<br /><br />From 7 to 9 PM (presumably Central time) at the Tower Records store on 2301 N. Clark St., <em>Final Fantasy</em> composer Nobuo Uematsu, bilingual songstress Angela Aki (who wrote and sang the theme song for <em>FFXII</em>), and Principal Conductor and Music Director of PLAY! Arnie Roth will be signing autographs to promote the world-tour premiere of 'PLAY! A Video Game Symphony' and the CD for <em>More Friends - Music from FINAL FANTASY</em>.<br /><br />While this blogger is sadly occupied with prior engagements tonight, gamers in the area are more than welcome to mob that Tower Records and cause the store's employees much consternation and bewilderment. If you don't have any imported CDs to sign, however, don't fret: the store's web site claims to have "some awesome Japanese imports available for you to purchase and have autographed at the event." Not only that, Angela Aki will be performing live as well. Score! Anybody wanna tell us how this evening turns out when it's all sung and done?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.dailynorthwestern.com/home/index.cfm?event=displayArticle&amp;uStory_id=6219b342-c19a-42e2-b279-2568b366e573"><em>The Daily Northwestern</em></a>; image culled from <a href="http://blog.excite.co.jp/angelaaki/2276096/">Angela Aki's blog</a>, <a href="http://www.square-enix-usa.com/uematsu/profile/">Nobuo Uematsu's Squenix profile</a>, and <a href="http://music.ign.com/articles/589/589030p3.html">Arnie Roth's 2005 interview with IGN</a>]<br /><br /><strong>See also:</strong><br />
