Activision neglected to respond to the purported number in a supposed statement given to the blog, citing Raven is "realigning its workforce to better reflect the studio's upcoming slate." The developer recently concluded work on <em>Singularity</em>.<br />
<br />
Kotaku offers that this "realigning" is so that Raven can focus on creating downloadable content -- the studio was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/13/report-raven-software-working-on-call-of-duty-black-ops-dlc/">reported to be working on DLC</a> for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-black-ops"><em>Call of Duty: Black Ops</em></a> back in May. Though both parties haven't likely realized it yet, Kmart is currently embroiled in a full-on assault against your wallet. The store's offering a slew of discounts on games like <em>Alan Wake</em>, <em>Peace Walker</em>, <em>Singularity</em> and the <em>Call of Duty: War Collection</em>, as well as a few other miscellaneous SKUs.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/11/kmart-discounts-alan-wake-peace-walker-and-more/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Kmart discounts Alan Wake, Peace Walker and more</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/11/kmart-discounts-alan-wake-peace-walker-and-more/">Kmart discounts Alan Wake, Peace Walker and more</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 11 Jul 2010 11:30:00 EST. When faced with the imminent collapse of your once idyllic and isolated society, you'll find that adhering to a few simple rules could save your too-good-to-be-true life. The difference between escaping dystopia and dying of dysentery in a locker is made plain in these important steps:<br />
<br />
<ol>
    <li>Don't bother trying to keep up with the Joneses anymore. Their mutated forms have granted them incredible endurance and speed.</li>
    <li>Avoid any scientific laboratories, especially those staffed by inter-dimensional riftologists. If you must visit one, always go for the Exploding Barrel Research Center.</li>
    <li>For god's sake, don't use an antiquated audio recorder -- no matter how charming it is -- to capture your final, downtrodden play at preservation. The minute you start talking about how you got separated from the others, you're inviting ... w<em>hat was that noise</em>? <em>Oh god, I can hear it in the vents and AAAAIIEEEEE</em> etc.</li>

It slices! It dices! It reduces your enemies to unrecognizable blobs of primordial goop! And now, thanks to <a href="http://www.viddler.com/explore/Joystiq/videos/3502/">the latest trailer</a> for Raven and Activision's temporally unstable shooter <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/singularity"><em>Singularity</em></a>, another feature of the handy Time Manipulation Device has been revealed: It grants the user complete control over the forces of gravity. It's official: This is the raddest glove <em>ever</em>.<br />
<br />
Check out the trailer above, and see some of the practical applications this feature has on the battlefield. We wonder what other T.M.D capabilities will be revealed in future trailers before the game launches on June 29. The world needs more cute puppies, right? For <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/singularity"><em>Singularity</em></a>'s protagonist, however, it's a tool to aid in the destruction of his enemies.<br />
<br />
The latest trailer for the game highlights the Deadlock feature, an ability that generates a small field slowing the momentum of anything caught in it. This can stop enemies dead in their tracks or help the player navigate past a deadly electrical hazard. Perhaps its greatest ability is how it affects munitions -- bullets slow down to a crawl, making what would otherwise be a bullseye for a huge rocket result in a miss. <br />

We've known about the ability to age and "revert" objects and people in <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/singularity">Singularity</a> </em>for a while. It acts as a way to destroy cover, rebuild broken bridges and age enemy soldiers into dust. We <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/22/overheard-gamescom-kicking-babies-is-bad/">wondered before</a> why reverting soldiers didn't turn them into babies, and now we know why: It actually turns them into an exploding pile of goo. Okay, so you <em>can</em> also revert enemies into a raging, feral beast but, come on, <em>exploding pile of goo</em> (as seen in the video after the break).<br />
<br />
<em>Singularity </em>will be released next month.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/15/video-singularitys-age-defying-destruction/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: Singularity's age-defying destruction</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/15/video-singularitys-age-defying-destruction/">Video: Singularity's age-defying destruction</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 15 May 2010 01:00:00 EST. The latest <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Singularity/"><em>Singularity</em></a> trailer --- with no actual gameplay -- totally makes us wish we had one of these timey-wimey continuum-altery devices at parties. It'd be so handy for recovering spilled drinks. <br />
<br />
Also, we'd use it to keep our dogs in perpetual states of puppydom. Hmm, come to think of it, that device would be super convenient. Somebody should make one for real -- what could be the harm?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/29/singularity-trailer-shows-theres-no-use-crying-over-spilt-vodka/">Singularity trailer shows there's no use crying over spilt vodka</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 29 Apr 2010 14:45:00 EST. Wouldn't it be nice if, between face-melting blasts of temporal energy, you could resort to dismemberment, impalement and tentacular catastrophe? What if you didn't have to suffer the slightest penalty or inhibition for spending the day shooting <em>and</em> stabbing anonymous meatbags, just as your desires dictated?</div>
<br />
We'll likely never find out, but you can do all of that stuff in a video game if you buy <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/singularity">Singularity</a></em> on Xbox 360 and take advantage of a limited-time mail-in offer for a free copy of <strike><em>Infamous</em></strike> <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prototype">Prototype</a></em>. Raven's time-twisting shooter is out on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on June 29th.<br />

Heck, the game's developer, Raven Software, even had to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/27/raven-software-confirms-layoffs-new-size-reflects-upcoming-wo/">lay off some folks</a> last summer to reflect a lightened workload after the release of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/x-men-origins-wolverine">Wolverine</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wolfenstein">Wolfenstein</a></em>. <br />
<br />
But the game popped back up on our radar last night when its latest trailer was shown on <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusive-last-singularity/64560">GameTrailers TV</a>, complete with a solidified June 29 release date (as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/09/amazon-and-gamefly-agree-singularity-out-june-29/">Amazon and Gamefly listings</a> previously indicated). If you're into WWII-era alternate realities featuring god-like special abilities, the trailer that we've embedded after the break is right up your alley. If not, well, here are the Wonderpets with <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwxwUiDbRCk">a </a><em><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwxwUiDbRCk">very sewious</a></em><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwxwUiDbRCk"> message</a>.<br />

The upcoming <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/singularity"><em>Singularity</em></a> from Raven Software is supposed to give you the power to age objects just by gesturing at them, and it appears that ability is being tested on the game itself: Its release date has been slowly edging into the future, from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/19/new-singularity-trailer-pours-one-out-for-mother-russia/">early 2010</a> up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/05/lol-singularity-delayed-to-avoid-competitive-titles/">into March</a> and then <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/10/activision-singularity-transformers-war-for-cybertron-due-in/">on to June</a>. But it seems like the timeshifting has finally come to an end, as <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Singularity-Playstation-3/dp/B001UWGCW2">both Amazon</a> and Gamefly have <a href="http://www.gamefly.com/RentalMediaTitleSearch/Search/?kw=singularity&amp;sec=1&amp;Go=Submit">listed the game as releasing</a> on June 29th of this year.<br />
<br />
Activision originally cited the delay as an attempt to keep the game away from a crowded slate of "competitive titles," so perhaps the game will do better kicking off the dog days of summer. If Raven's time-bending twist on the FPS captures your interest, it'll be one more good reason to stay out of that hot, hot summer sun.<br />

If there's one thing that Commander Shepard, Nathan Drake, Agent 47, Marcus Fenix, and ... uhh ... Mega Man all have in common, it's not just that they're all video game characters -- they're also all <em>white dudes</em>. And Raven Software's Manveer Heir takes umbrage with that fact (and, more importantly, the fact that being caucasian is a rather pervasive theme across game characters), telling <a href="http://www.develop-online.net/news/34030/Lead-dev-questions-industrys-stance-on-ethnicity">Develop</a> in a recent interview that "There are a large number of hispanic and black children playing games, percentage-wise more so than white children, but these guys aren't getting into the industry because they are not seeing themselves in the games." <br />
<br />
Moreover, Heir says it's not just a question of equality, but rather a question of missed market opportunity. "It's not about being fair. It's about bringing something new to the art." The <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wolverine">Wolverine</a></em>/<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/singularity">Singularity</a></em> dev also makes a point of sending out a rally call to the rest of the industry, saying, "I'm sure many people in the game industry are starting work on new IP. If we can ask people to think about it, then they are more apt to say 'hey let's try this.' You just need one game to succeed. The first developer or publisher to do this will enjoy a lot of success." For a much more thorough discussion on the subject, we've embedded a video after the break of a panel from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dice-2010">DICE 2010</a>, titled "Games of Color," in which Manveer speaks in far more detail on the subject.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/06/ravens-manveer-heir-urges-industry-to-address-ethnic-misreprese/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Raven's Manveer Heir urges industry to address ethnic misrepresentation</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/06/ravens-manveer-heir-urges-industry-to-address-ethnic-misreprese/">Raven's Manveer Heir urges industry to address ethnic misrepresentation</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 06 Mar 2010 11:30:00 EST. After narrowly escaping <em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2</em>'s impact crater in late 2009, Raven Software's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/08/singularity-sucked-into-q1-2010/">tardy</a>, time-bending first-person shooter, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Singularity/">Singularity</a></em>, finally appears to have settled on a new ETA. Speaking in an investor conference call following the release of the company's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/10/activision-reports-113-million-in-profits-for-2009/">latest financial results</a>, Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith mentioned that both <em>Singularity</em> and star vehicle / vehicle star <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/transformers-war-for-cybertron"><em>Transformers: War for Cybertron</em></a> were due some time in May 2010. [<strong>Update:</strong> Activision's Dan Amrich has an updated release timeframe for <em>Singularity</em>, <a href="http://twitter.com/OneOfSwords/status/8930025200">confirming</a> a June release.]<br />
<br />
If neither of those appeal to you, <em>Shrek Forever After: The Game</em> is also set to release during the same month. But ... really? You don't like transforming robots or time-distorting techno-gloves? What if the robots were <em>wearing</em> the gloves?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/10/activision-singularity-transformers-war-for-cybertron-due-in/">Activision: Transformers: War for Cybertron due in May, Singularity in June [Update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 10 Feb 2010 18:50:00 EST. If a recent change to <em>Singularity's</em> <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=74410">GameStop releases listing</a> is accurate, Activision's oft-delayed shooter will see another push down the 2010 calendar. Originally slated for release in 2009, <em>Singularity</em> was delayed to March 2010 to help establish the game as a "must have" and distance it from <em>Modern Warfare 2's</em> nuclear explosion -- mostly, the latter.<br />
<br />
While a changed retailer listing is not confirmation of a delay, another bump may be absolutely necessary for Raven Software's title to have a shot at success (and Raven <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/27/raven-software-confirms-layoffs-new-size-reflects-upcoming-wo/">could use a lift</a>). When the original delay was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/08/singularity-sucked-into-q1-2010/">announced</a>, Activision <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/05/lol-singularity-delayed-to-avoid-competitive-titles/">suggested</a> that the March release window provided "fewer competitive titles" for <em>Singularity</em> to go up against. While <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/22/capcom-pulls-super-street-fighter-iv-lost-planet-2-monster-hun/">Capcom</a> has made that statement slightly more believable, Activistion is <em>still</em> wrong.<br />
<br />
Like, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/19/dark-void-touching-down-january-12/">really</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/16/mass-effect-2-stardated-january-26-2010/">really</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/bioshock-2-washes-up-on-shore-feb-9-2010/">really</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/23/splinter-cell-conviction-dated-for-feb-23-new-tgs-trailer-hit/">really</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/02/god-of-war-iii-out-on-playstation-3-in-march-2010/"><em>really wrong</em></a>. If <em>Singularity's</em> new listed date of June 1, 2010 isn't what the publisher intends, <em>perhaps </em>Activision should consider it.<br />

The protagonist in Activision's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Singularity/">Singularity</a></em> has the ability to age and, um, youth-enize people and objects, which led to a burning question on the minds of a few people during a presentation of the title during <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/gamescom-2009">GamesCom</a>. See, when you age enemies, they'll turn to dust. However, when un-aging them, they'll turn into "Reverts," creatures in an unnatural state that can assist or attack the player. It only seemed reasonable to those in the room: Why wouldn't they be turned into babies?<br /><br />An Activision rep explained, "If we start turning them into babies, and kicking babies, we're going to run into ratings issues." Oh, come on! There's the ... and the ... okay, we can't really argue with that. It's also worth mentioning that <em>Singularity</em>'s violence is edited on the show floor -- something about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/17/crytek-ceo-asks-gdc-audience-to-kill-killerspiel-law-wont-le/">German censorship issues</a>. <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/">Singularity</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380642"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/timewave_seq_01-2232009-19_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380674"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/spetsnaz_02-2232009-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380643"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/screenshot00011-2232009-58_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380675"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/screenshot00031-2232009-26_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380644"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/screenshot00009-2232009-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/22/overheard-gamescom-kicking-babies-is-bad/">Overheard@GamesCom: Kicking babies is bad</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 22 Aug 2009 06:00:00 EST. While <em>Singularity's</em> delay is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/08/singularity-sucked-into-q1-2010/">old news</a>, we couldn't help but laugh at this remark from Activision's latest <a href="http://investor.activision.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=401548">financial results</a>:<br /><br />"Activision Publishing has moved the anticipated release date for Raven's upcoming sci-fi first-person action title, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Singularity/">Singularity</a></em>, from 2009 to the first quarter of 2010. The new launch window, <strong>which has fewer competitive titles releasing</strong>, should improve the probability of achieving stronger results and establishing Singularity as a first-person action franchise for the company." First-person time manipulation news now, with a brief note from Activision alerting us to a delay in the release of Raven Software's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/singularity"><em>Singularity</em></a>, which was previously slated for a late 2009 arrival. It seems the publisher has wisely decided to push the sci-fi adventure back into March 2010 -- and well out of the way of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2"><em>Modern Warfare 2</em></a>'s commercially crushing tank treads.<br /><br />"The level of excitement for Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 coming out of E3 well exceeded our expectations and therefore we have decided to move Raven's upcoming sci-fi first person action title, Singularity, from 2009 to Q1 2010," an Activision spokesperson declared. "We believe that the March quarter will provide a better opportunity to establish the new cutting-edge action IP as a "must-have" title and clears the way for Modern Warfare 2 to dominate this holiday season."<br /><br />Thanks for taking one for the team, <em>Singularity</em>! Now, if you Assassin's Creeds and Splinter Cells and BioShocks could just skooch over a tad ...<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/">Singularity</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380642"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/timewave_seq_01-2232009-19_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380674"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/spetsnaz_02-2232009-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380643"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/screenshot00011-2232009-58_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380675"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/screenshot00031-2232009-26_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380644"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/screenshot00009-2232009-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/08/singularity-sucked-into-q1-2010/">Singularity sucked into Q1 2010</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Jul 2009 19:59:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/singularity/">Singularity</a> </em>producer Kekoa Lee-Creel recently spoke with <a href="http://www.developmag.com/interviews/519/Approaching-Singularity">Develop</a> about the upcoming FPS, and while the majority of the interview is comprised of details we mostly knew, one tidbit of info will come as a delight to those anxiously awaiting Raven Software's flux-fest: it seems there will be a demo for the game prior to its release. Activision views the demo release as "absolutely critical" to the game's success, as Lee-Creel believes there is no better way to convey how good a game feels than to let folks get their hands on it. <br /><br />Well, we'd have to agree with that, but mostly because we like getting free stuff. You guys don't want to see us at a grocery store on free sample day, we assure you.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/">Singularity</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380642"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/timewave_seq_01-2232009-19_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380674"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/spetsnaz_02-2232009-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380643"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/screenshot00011-2232009-58_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380675"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/screenshot00031-2232009-26_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380644"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/screenshot00009-2232009-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/17/activision-singularity-demo-is-absolutely-critical/">Activision: Singularity demo is 'absolutely critical'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Jun 2009 14:15:00 EST. E3 was <em>br&uuml;tal!</em> If you blinked, for a <span style="font-style: italic;">split/second,</span> you missed something. Even if you were <span style="font-style: italic;">trine</span> to keep up, it was a <span style="font-style: italic;">blur</span> -- staying <span style="font-style: italic;">a.wake</span> like that, you only pushed yourself to the <span style="font-style: italic;">brink</span> of your own <span style="font-style: italic;">dark void</span>. That's where Joystiq comes in; to <span style="font-style: italic;">crackdown</span> on the madness; to <span style="font-style: italic;">reach</span> out ... with <em>conviction</em> -- phew! <span style="font-style: italic;">Crysis</span> averted.<br />
<br />
We've scoured the <span style="font-style: italic;">dark corners</span> and survived the <span style="font-style: italic;">inferno</span> to piece together this roundup of all things Xbox at E3. Why? <span style="font-style: italic;">Just 'cause</span> we love you. So, draw <span style="font-style: italic;">nier</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">shift</span> your eyes past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/12/e3-2009-highlights-the-xbox-roundup/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>E3 2009 highlights: The Xbox roundup</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/12/e3-2009-highlights-the-xbox-roundup/">E3 2009 highlights: The Xbox roundup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 12 Jun 2009 11:45:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">Raven Software's Brian Raffel took us through <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Singularity/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Singularity</span></a> recently, and we finally got closer look at the time warping shooter that feels like the lovechild of Raven's very own <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Wolfenstein/"><em>Wolfenstein</em></a> and 2K's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Bioshock/"><em>Bioshock</em></a>, with a bit of <em>Hellboy</em> tossed in for good measure. Just <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/28/new-singularity-vids-show-off-environments-and-aging-features/">watch</a> the way you can toss things around with your Time Manipulation Device, and you'll see what we mean.<br /><br />We haven't heard much about the game since it was announced and briefly teased at Activision's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/joystiq-live-at-activisions-non-e3-press-conference/">non-E3 press event</a> last year. Thankfully it's come a lot further, and is beginning to show signs of life. Read on for our impressions of the game after seeing it in action, complete with new screens in the gallery below. With any luck it will erase the past and make us say "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Timeshift/"><em>Timeshift</em></a> who?" <br /></div>

These videos reveal a couple of the game's environments and give us a glimpse into the game's major gimmick: time/age manipulation. It's looking fairly interesting, though some of those time effects are a little jarring -- repairing the conveniently placed pieces of environmental cover, for example. We'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now, however. It can't be much worse than that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/timeshift"><em>other</em> time manipulation FPS</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/28/new-singularity-vids-show-off-environments-and-aging-features/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New Singularity vids show off environments and 'aging' features</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/28/new-singularity-vids-show-off-environments-and-aging-features/">New Singularity vids show off environments and 'aging' features</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Apr 2009 21:00:00 EST. In Raven Software's latest FPS, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/singularity"><span style="font-style: italic;">Singularity</span></a>, you play as a salesperson for Cingular Wireless, now AT&amp;T Wireless. No, that's not right. Oh yes. You play as a character who, unlike a Cingular salesperson, can manipulate time -- travel through it, use it to make folks <span style="font-style: italic;">age to death</span> ... y'know, the usual. <br /><br />Anyway, the game's publisher, Activision, has released the first trailer for it and a <span style="font-style: italic;">couple dozen </span>screenshots. The game looks mighty good, but we won't be totally convinced until we confirm players can use time to grow beards quickly. That and play it at E3. The trailer's hanging out just after the break or skip the lame Flash-vid and <a href="http://www.bigdownload.com/games/singularity/pc/singularity-reveal-trailer-hd/">download it in glorious HD from Big Download</a>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/">Singularity</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380642"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/timewave_seq_01-2232009-19_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380674"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/spetsnaz_02-2232009-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380643"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/screenshot00011-2232009-58_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380675"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/screenshot00031-2232009-26_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/singularity/#1380644"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/screenshot00009-2232009-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/23/singularity-spawns-multiple-screenshots-first-trailer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Singularity spawns multiple screenshots, first trailer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/23/singularity-spawns-multiple-screenshots-first-trailer/">Singularity spawns multiple screenshots, first trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Feb 2009 16:00:00 EST. Activision Blizzard has a lot on its plate for 2009. Other than <em>completely burying </em>you in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero"><em>Guitar Hero</em></a> games, the company plans to unleash its set of unique IPs this year, as detailed during its recent conference call. Let's go over them!<br /><br />First up, we should all expect <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prototype">Prototype</a> </em>sometime during this year (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/prototype-slated-for-june-release/">June</a>!). The head of Activision publishing also confirmed that "first-person action game" <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/singularity"><em>Singularity</em></a> would see release in 2009, as would Bizarre Creations' unannounced, "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/03/bizarre-making-bond-title-for-2009-new-racing-ip-is-mario-kart/"><em>Mario Kart</em> meets <em>Forza</em></a>" racing title. Don't want any of that new stuff? Fear not, a little game called <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2">Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2</a> </em>is releasing this year, too! <br /><br />So, there you have it! All of the fun stuff from a financial earnings call, without those pesky numbers getting in your way.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/11/activision-blizzard-talks-2009-lineup-including-modern-warfare/">Activision Blizzard talks 2009 lineup, including Modern Warfare 2, Singularity</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Feb 2009 18:00:00 EST. Judging by the big hand on the office clock it's time for new details concerning Activision Blizzard's upcoming '<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/05/activisions-09-lineup-70-larger-call-of-duty-titles-and-gui/ ">targeted</a>' new IP, <em>Singularity</em>. Right on cue, the game is the cover darling for Game Informer's February issue, with the 'zine's online site teasing new details on the sci-fi shooter with a time-sensitive twist.<br /><br />First shown in brief during Activision's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/joystiq-live-at-activisions-non-e3-press-conference/">not-quite E3 press event</a> last July, <em>Singularity </em>is being developed by <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wolverine">Wolverine</a> </em>dev <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/raven-software/">Raven Software</a>. According to GI, the game will let players jump through history and use time as a weapon, rapidly aging opponents into bones and dust. We wonder if it works the other way around, letting us turn the opposition into sniveling babies or angst-fueled tweens. The issue, complete with the snazzy cover above, should be fluxing its way onto magazine racks soon.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/game-informer-reveals-raven-softwares-singularity/">Game Informer reveals Raven Software's 'Singularity'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 11:59:00 EST.
