<em>His eyes -- how they twinkle! His dimples -- how merry!<br />
His cheeks are adorned with phat shades from Burberry.<br />
His mouth is set hard, like grayscale concrete,<br />
And his scraggly man-beard leaves the ladies effete.<br />
<br />
For this elf isn't jolly, or chubby or plump;<br />
This Santa, he ain't putting up with no coal or no chumps.<br />
No this Santa's a free skin in Croteam's new update.<br />
So go ahead, download him -- do it now, don't be late!<br />
<br />
Yeah he's armed and he's angry and he's all out of gum,<br />
And he don't care if you're naughty or nice, smart or dumb.<br />
You might hear him exclaim, as he breaks you like glass,<br />
"Merry Christmas to all, now let's go kick some ass."</em><br />

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/02/arkham-citys-batman-is-a-fashionista-rocking-six-suits-in-his/">The <em>Batman: Arkham City</em> preorder plan</a> is so complicated, with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/15/buy-batman-used-at-gamestop-get-free-catwoman-code/">various offers</a> from retailers all over the place <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/15/batman-arkham-citys-nightwing-could-use-a-haircut/">enabling different costumes and content</a>, it seems like you need to be the World's Greatest Detective just to figure it all out. And here's another clue to the mystery: That Batman Beyond skin seen so long ago is now being offered <a href="http://www.drinknos.com/rewards.do?itemId=15766">as a reward from energy drink NOS</a>.<br />
<br />
To get it, all you have to do is chug a NOS (or just buy it and pour it out, we won't judge), grab a code from the can and plug it in on the website, and then redeem the point you earn for the skin. According to the NOS rewards page, you can use the skin after you complete the game's main story, or in any of the challenge maps. Was Terry McGinnis always this buff?<br />
<br />
NOS also notes that this reward is offering "early access" to the skin, so if you can't buy NOS where you happen to be, this (and the other bonus skins) will be available later through normal DLC channels.<br />
<br />

Robot Entertainment is not only bringing tower defense title <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/orcs-must-die"><em>Orcs Must Die</em></a> to PAX Prime later on this week, but the company is providing a show special as well. At the booth in Seattle during the show, they'll be giving out <a href="http://robotentertainment.com/blog/detail/Orcs-Must-Die-Invade-PAX-Prime-Bearing-Gifts">special codes for the game's War Mage character</a>, designed after Penny Arcade's own Cardboard Tube Samurai, to visitors who sign up for the company forums.<br />
<br />
The first 200 people to play the game each day of the show will also pick up a prequel comic book from the company. The rest of us, at home, who can't play the game live on the floor of PAX? All we get is to wait until the game comes out later this year on XBLA and PC.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/15/orcs-must-die-players-at-pax-prime-get-cardboard-tube-samurai-s/">Orcs Must Die players at PAX Prime get Cardboard Tube Samurai skin, comic book</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Aug 2011 22:00:00 EST. One of the incentives to play <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/batman-arkham-asylum"><em>Batman: Arkham Asylum</em></a> on PC (outside of a lower price and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/22/buy-nvidia-graphics-card-get-batman-arkham-asylum-free/">PhysX <em>graffix</em></a><em>)</em> is the ability to create custom skins. The community has quickly gotten to work and <a href="http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=92752">flooded the official forums</a> with screen grabs of the various outfits modders have designed. Aside from the obvious <em>The Dark Knight</em> and classic Bats skins, there's a neat Green Lantern variation and, pictured above, a recession-conscious Batman opting for Old Navy-esque cargos instead of the usual rubbery expensive stuff. Hey, they <em>breathe</em> better, right?<br /><br />Hit up <a href="http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=92752">the thread</a> to check 'em all out.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/16/custom-arkham-asylum-skins-unmask-batmans-identity-issues/">Custom Arkham Asylum skins unmask Batman's identity issues</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Sep 2009 00:00:00 EST. Now here's a neat video. For those of you who have picked up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/24/metareview-guitar-hero-on-tour/"><em>Guitar Hero: On Tour</em></a> and want to add a little bit of your own personal style to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/28/homebrew-paint-application-adds-guitar-hero-controller-support/">the included peripheral</a>, the above video will aid you in doing just that. It's surprisingly easy to create your own skin insert for the thing. While the video doesn't showcase the most artistic replacement, we're sure you creative folk out there wont have much trouble coming up with some really badass skins. <br />
<br />
Anyone going to give this a try?<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<a href="http://ghskinz.com/ghskinz_home">GHSkinz</a>, a company that specifically makes skins for <em>Guitar Hero</em> and <em>Rock Band</em> instruments is now opening up a line of skins for handheld systems. The PSP is included, but unfortunately has the most ridiculously expensive ones at $10.95 a pop. That's more than double the price that their <a href="http://ghskinz.com/nintendo_ds_lite_skins">Nintendo DS</a> and <a href="http://ghskinz.com/ipod_touch_skins?b=1">iPod Touch</a> lines go for.<br /><br />That's not to say that their products are not any good; the designs are quite beautiful -- <a href="http://ghskinz.com/sony_psp_skins">just have a look</a>. It just makes us scratch our heads as to why the PSP gets screwed over with such a large bill. Anyway, that's expensive in our minds but ultimately that's up to you if you're willing to pay the price.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/ghskinz-opens-up-new-line-of-pricey-psp-skins/">GHSkinz opens up new line of pricey PSP skins</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 May 2008 12:00:00 EST. Need a case? Sure, you could buy one -- and there are plenty available -- but as a dedicated Show and Tell reader, surely by now you can guess where this is going. If you just shouted out, "Wisconsin!," you are both very wrong and <em>very</em> random (also, stop yelling at the screen; it's sensitive). If, instead, you suspect a little DIY is ahead, you just may be right.<br /><br />Reader Eleniel decided to make a case, but there was just one problem -- no sewing machine about. But that's okay, because DS Fanboy readers are <em>hardcore</em>, so like your intrepid hostess, Eleniel sewed it by hand. It is, however, one hell of a lot better than <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/07/show-and-tell-let-us-show-you-them/">my work</a>. It's got that fancy new <em>zipper</em> technology. That doesn't mean it's perfect, though; Eleniel confesses that the pocket designed to hold games doesn't exactly hold anything. We still like checking it out, though. And, while on the DIY kick, Eleniel also made an <em>Okami</em>-inspired skin. Might as well go all out, right? You can check out the finished products in our gallery below. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/elenials-diy-case-and-skin/">Eleniel's DIY case and skin</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/elenials-diy-case-and-skin/#820369"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/el-case-3-st_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/elenials-diy-case-and-skin/#820368"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/el-case-1-st_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/elenials-diy-case-and-skin/#820367"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/el-case-2-st_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/elenials-diy-case-and-skin/#820366"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/el-st-okcase_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div>

We're usually not ones to post about console case mods of any sort, but we decided to buck that trend today -- namely because no case mod we've ever seen has inspired such <em>fear into our hearts</em>. A forum-dweller by the name of dfw monkie recently posted pictures of his latest monstrosity to <a href="http://forums.llamma.com/viewtopic.php?t=17211">The Llamma's Game Console Forums</a> (instilling a greater fear in us that a Llama-themed 360 is in the works) -- <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/05/16/creepy-xbox-360-alligator-skin-creeps-us-out/">an Xbox 360, covered in the pitch-black skin</a> of a gargantuan alligator that dfw monkie killed <em>with his bare hands</em>.<br /><br />Okay, <a href="http://forums.dfwclan.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&amp;t=6">the crocodilian pattern was created with common crafting supplies</a>, but we much prefer our own <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_vs._Wild">"Man vs. Wild"</a> interpretation of the console's backstory. Martha Stewart-esque origins or no, the final product is still downright <em>unsettling</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/18/feed-your-discs-to-the-alligator-skinned-xbox-360/">Feed your discs to the alligator-skinned Xbox 360</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 18 May 2008 16:30:00 EST. <br />GelaSkins' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gelaskins-nintendo-ds-skins/">awesome range of DS skins</a> got us thinking about decorating our handhelds all over again, but who out there has <em>already</em> skinned their DS, and which design did you opt for? Better still, have any of you <a href="http://www.skinit.com/skins/photo_uploader">customized</a> your own DS skin? If so, now is your chance to show it off (pictures are a must for this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/ds-daily/">DS Daily</a>, obviously), and perhaps even earn yourself some <em>internet fame</em>!*<br /><br />* Amongst the people who read DS Fanboy comment threads.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/24/ds-daily-whos-got-their-skin-on/">DS Daily: Who's got their skin on?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Apr 2008 09:00:00 EST. <br />Opinions on DS skins are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/23/ds-fanboy-poll-the-verdict-on-skins/">quite evenly divided</a> around these parts, but <a href="http://www.gelaskins.com/index.php">GelaSkins</a>' latest range may influence a few of you naysayers. Having formerly specialized in producing extra layers for iPods and laptops, the company has turned its attention to Nintendo's ubiquitous handheld, by offering a range of 57 skins featuring prints by a wide array of artists.<br /><br />The selection on offer is pleasingly diverse, featuring both classic works from the likes of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gelaskins-nintendo-ds-skins/757235/full/">Kandinsky</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gelaskins-nintendo-ds-skins/757285/full/">Hokusai</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gelaskins-nintendo-ds-skins/757232/full/">Escher</a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gelaskins-nintendo-ds-skins/757275/full/">van Gogh</a>, as well as pieces from a number of (largely lesser-known -- well, by us ignoramuses, anyway) modern artists.<br /><br />If you think any of the nine above are too gaudy for your tastes (though we personally love "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gelaskins-nintendo-ds-skins/757269/full/">Red Robot Leaving The City</a>" by ExplodingDog), then check out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gelaskins-nintendo-ds-skins/757289/full/">our gallery</a> for the full line-up. These aren't cheap at $20 a pop, but they're unquestionably <em>unique</em>, and if you buy three skins, you'll get a fourth free. Any of you anti-skin types converted by these?<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/18/slap-some-escher-kandinsky-or-van-gogh-on-your-ds/">Slap some Escher, Kandinsky, or van Gogh on your DS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Apr 2008 10:30:00 EST. When we look to our DS, we hardly ever think of important figures in history. Sure, just about anything on a DS <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/21/bapes-ds/">automatically</a> ups the value of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/21/hot-on-the-streets-black-and-white-ds-lite/">the handheld</a> (certain things <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/23/vegeta-what-does-the-scouter-say-about-the-dss-power-level/">just do not</a>), but we never thought about how important individuals of the past would look upon Nintendo's handheld unit.<br /><br />Ben Franklin, a man who is very well-known in these United States in which DSF has decided to set up shop, would most likely love the bold direction in which Nintendo has taken their handheld. Of course, he would probably be more worried about the <em>strange picture tubes</em> and <em>curious garment of dress</em> of which modern society has become accustomed to. The idea of putting images other than cute cartoon characters or other pop-culture references on our DS gets us inexplicably excited, though.<br /><br />What kind of notable figure in history would you like to see on your DS? Personally, we'd <em>love</em> a Gandhi skin.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/17/dost-thou-love-ds-then-do-not-squander-skins/">Dost thou love DS? We haven't seen a lot of custom skins made by our readers, so we were pretty excited when <a href="http://thatgirlssite.com/">That Girl</a> sent in pictures of her skin, adapted from a wallpaper. The colors and design really suit her DS Lite perfectly, and it's always nice to see someone tastefully customizing their handheld while giving a nod to another fandom. It's not just the outside that's <span style="font-style: italic;">prettified</span>, either; hit the jump to see the inside of the DS.<br /><br />Have <span style="font-style: italic;">you</span> made a custom skin or anything else Nintendo-related? We'd love to know about it! Show us what you've got and we'll tell the world -- just take a few pictures, scribble a few lines, and send it all to <strong>showmeit <strong>[at]</strong> dsfanboy [dot] com</strong>. Your DS is important -- and that means it needs to be protected. It needs extra protection if it's pretty, of course, and so it makes sense that reader Tracy has a whole system to ensure the safety of her DS Lite. Since she also has a toddler who loves to find the DS (wherever it may be hidden!) and "play" with it, that safeguarding system is even <em>more</em> important. <br /><br />But why is this one so special? Well, other than the obvious (it's a DS!), Tracy's handheld is dressed for success in a skin from DecalGirl that matches her iPod. Such a beautiful combination simply has to be protected, so it's also wrapped in a crystal case. When not in use? It lives safely in its own armor. Listen, protecting hardware from toddlers is <em>serious business</em>. But this is one safety system that also manages to look good, so we couldn't help but show it off.<br /><br />Got something that makes <span style="font-style: italic;">you</span> particularly proud? We like thingamabobs and doohickeys and swag of all sorts, as well as food and furniture and anything fun ... so long as it's related to Nintendo! Just take some pictures, tell us what's up, and send it all to <strong>showmeit <strong>[at]</strong> dsfanboy [dot] com</strong>. <br />MashiMaro could be described as Korea's answer to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sanrio">Sanrio</a>, Japan's heavily-merchandised community of Hello Kitty characters. The adorable, chubby rabbit sits atop a mountain of plushies and other branded products that are too cute for many to resist. Unlike his Sanrio colleagues, however, Mashimaro can be a jerk. In the <a href="http://ink.pierski.com/mashimaro/index.html">Flash animations</a> where he made his debut, he can be seen stealing food and pushing a pig off a cliff. He's a bad bunny to the bone. <br /><br />Joytron recently put out a line of cases decorated with MashiMaro scenes, and they're just as cute as the thuggish cottontail himself. The shells slip over your DS Lite, adding an extra layer of plastic protection to your handheld. Joytron will even throw in a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pen">pen stylus</a> with each order. Hop into the gallery below for more shots of the different "System Skin Cases" now available in Korea.<br /><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://ruliweb.empas.com/ruliboard/read.htm?table=game_nds&amp;page=2&amp;num=17857&amp;main=nds&amp;find=&amp;ftext=">Ruliweb</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/18/toughen-up-your-ds-with-a-pudgy-bunny/">Toughen up your DS with a pudgy bunny</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 18 Feb 2008 11:15:00 EST. Fashioned from the skin of a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morelia_spilota">diamond python</a>, this DS skin -- while obviously ... unique -- is just about the creepiest <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/accessories/">accessory</a> we've ever encountered for the handheld.<br /><br />Coating your beloved console with <em>dead animal remains</em> isn't a cheap exercise, either: the full set costs &yen;12,800 ($120), but you can also buy just the top half for &yen;5,800 ($53). Then again, if you're going to put something <em>totally disgusting</em> on your DS, why do things by half?<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mayumi-hasegawas-snakeskin-ds-cover/">Mayumi Hasegawa's snakeskin DS cover</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mayumi-hasegawas-snakeskin-ds-cover/#631152"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/snakeskin_08_feb_08_007_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mayumi-hasegawas-snakeskin-ds-cover/#631151"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/snakeskin_08_feb_08_006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mayumi-hasegawas-snakeskin-ds-cover/#631150"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/snakeskin_08_feb_08_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mayumi-hasegawas-snakeskin-ds-cover/#631149"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/snakeskin_08_feb_08_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mayumi-hasegawas-snakeskin-ds-cover/#631147"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/snakeskin_08_feb_08_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://www.newlaunches.com/archives/snake_skin_cover_for_the_nintendo_ds_even_paris_hilton_wont_buy_it.php">Dhiram</a>!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/snakeskin-ds-cover-probably-not-the-ideal-valentines-gift/">Snakeskin DS cover probably not the ideal Valentine's gift</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Feb 2008 16:00:00 EST. Still have that puzzle game <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Piyotama/">Piyotama</a></em> on your hard drive? For Halloween, SCEI gave fans of the game a special treat by offering a free <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/12/piyotama-gets-seasonal-dresses-for-halloween/">Halloween skin</a> for the game. Now, they're doing the same for Christmas. Currently, the skin is available on the Japanese PS Store, but we won't be surprised to see it hit other territories quite soon. Luckily for us, the game never left our hard drives -- simply because it took so little space on our hard drive.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/13/piyotama-gets-free-christmas-skin/">Piyotama gets free Christmas skin</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Dec 2007 13:30:00 EST. Last week, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/15/ds-fanboy-poll-to-skin-or-not-to-skin/">we talked skins</a>, and while the overwhelming verdict was anti-skin in general, a fair percentage of DS Fanboy readers could be (or have been!) tempted by the right skins at the right time. In fact, taking all the possible factors into consideration, in the end, it looks like the readership is about split! Of course, determining the "right" skin is a bit more complicated. A few popped up in the comments, but we'd love to see a few more examples of just what readers would consider plastering to their beloved game systems. Got skins? Feel free to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/show-and-tell/">show them off</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/23/ds-fanboy-poll-the-verdict-on-skins/">DS Fanboy Poll: The verdict on skins</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 23 Nov 2007 14:00:00 EST. DS and Wii owners <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/15/ds-fanboy-poll-to-skin-or-not-to-skin/">seem</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/03/wii-warm-up-skinning/">split </a>on the subject of skins, but one thing seems universal -- if you're gonna do it, you want to be able to remove it later. Etsy seller NoveltyGallery offers just that feature in this array of Wii skins. What's more? These skins are customizable. Prefer DS skins, or maybe something for your phone? No problem. Just contact the seller with your choice.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/19/skinning-from-sports-to-little-green-pups/">Skinning, from sports to little green pups</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Nov 2007 23:00:00 EST. While we've seen some skins that we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/27/hold-it-put-phoenix-wright-on-your-ds/">like</a> from time to time, it's hard for us to fathom slapping something that isn't a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/09/ds-daily-screen-safety/">screen protector</a> onto the sleek shape of the DS Lite. The Phat model, maybe. But that's just one opinion. Today, we want yours. Would you consider skinning your DS? Never? Maybe? Let's compare notes.<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/15/ds-fanboy-poll-to-skin-or-not-to-skin/#poll5667">View Poll</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/15/ds-fanboy-poll-to-skin-or-not-to-skin/">DS Fanboy Poll: To skin or not to skin</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2007 14:00:00 EST. <div align="left">We actually think the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/04/rockstars-m-rated-wii-console/"><em>Manhunt 2</em></a> Wii is pretty cool. It looks fairly realistically bloody, and in general reminds us of <em>Silent Hill</em>. We like it in a "we can appreciate it on the Internet" kind of way. Similarly, we've seen amazing custom jobs from Morpheon Mods, made in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/15/pretty-much-the-best-wii-case-mod-ever/"><em>Zelda</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/26/metroid-wii-mod-is-cooler-than-a-blast-from-an-ice-beam/"><em>Metroid</em></a> themes, and appreciated <em>them</em> on the Internet (though we passed mostly for financial reasons in those cases). <br /><br />The proliferation of such game-specific mods leads us to a two-part thought question for today: what game theme would you want for your Wii, and how would that look? Painted a certain color? Lights? 3D elements? For some of you, that white side panel must look like an empty canvas.<span style="font-style: italic;"></span><br /><br /><br /></div>

Even if you don't preorder the game from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/19/wal-mart-packs-phantom-hourglass-preorders-with-skins-and-styli/">Wal-Mart</a> (in the U.S.) or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/20/it-pays-to-be-a-pre-orderer-for-once/">EBGames</a> (in Australia), Nintendo-- or whichever unidentified accessory maker this is-- still wants your DS to look all <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zelda">Zelda</a>-y. The latest option for giving your DS an air of high-seas adventure requires no preorder at all, and is (in our opinion) the nicest one yet. The <em>Zelda Phantom Hourglass </em>Kit includes a DS skin, a "modified Zelda pocket" which appears to be a DS case, two silicone <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/21/tiny-mario-messenger-bag-for-ds-game/">game sleeves</a> made to be attached to the system, and three styli.<br /><br />All of this is emblazoned with the vivid, colorful art that so many people hated about <em>Wind Waker</em>, and which we happen to enjoy. The skin has a bit of a black/red scheme going, which would go well with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/10/red-black-ds-goes-brainless-in-october/">new DS Lite color scheme</a>. <br /><br />We haven't seen this for sale anywhere but Canadian retailer Future Shop, which is a bit inconvenient for us. Canadian gamers can Link up their DS Lites for CAD$18, while all we can do is <em>dream</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=25766">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/24/one-way-or-another-your-ds-is-getting-zelda-stuff-on-it/">One way or another, your DS Lite is getting Zelda stuff on it</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Sep 2007 10:40:00 EST. Most of the DS Lite skins we've come across in the past made our eyes want to commit suicide -- you could literally see them darting around, panicked, struggling in vain to grow arms and grab anything in reach to stab themselves blind with.<br /><br />These <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/phantomhourglass"><em>Phantom Hourglass</em></a> decals, however, won't disfigure your handheld; they could even by considered somewhat appealing. Wal-Mart will include them, as well as a Link-green stylus, with every $34.82 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/preorder">preorder</a>. The only downside we can see in reserving the game through Wal-Mart is that the retail giant won't ship it out until October 5th, four days after <em>Phantom Hourglass'</em> release. Do you think these extras are worth holding off your Zelda playtime?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/">CAG</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/19/wal-mart-packs-phantom-hourglass-preorders-with-skins-and-styli/">Wal-Mart packs Phantom Hourglass preorders with skins and styli</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Sep 2007 13:05:00 EST. The three piece skin also comes with a code to download the background seen in the picture (you know, so you get that full Xbox 360 aesthetic feel) and will cost you about $7. But that kind of change is a drop in the bucket to iPhone owners who aren't afraid to shell out $500 for a cell phone.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://twitter.com/majornelson/statuses/183852472">Major Nelson's Twitter</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/06/the-iphone-gets-360ized/">The iPhone gets 360'ized</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Aug 2007 15:15:00 EST. We found ourselves browsing some skinning sites and wondering if we might want to cover up the pure, smooth whiteness of the new console and finally decided against it ... at least, for now. But that's just us. This sweet set of controller skins could get us to change our minds, though -- especially at the low price of five dollars. It's been too long since we last took a sip from China's rum bottle of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/31/chinese-ds-lite-mods/">personalized DS Lites</a>; it's time to get back on that wagon with a buccaneer-themed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/skin">skin</a>.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.yyjoy.com/">YYJoy</a> forumer Pikapika shivered our timbers, decorating his handheld with a crossed-cutlasses pattern and Julius the Monkey decked out in full corsair regalia. Now that's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=piracy">piracy</a> we can get behind! Walk the post break plank for more photos of the shipshape DS Lite.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/20/julius-the-pirate-monkey-ds-lite/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Julius the Pirate Monkey DS Lite</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/20/julius-the-pirate-monkey-ds-lite/">Julius the Pirate Monkey DS Lite</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 20 May 2007 14:00:00 EST. Dress them up with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/10/toon-doku-threatens-to-break-our-brains/">mini-cakes</a> or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/09/everything-you-ever-wanted-to-know-about-zendoku/">martial arts</a> if you want to, but it's getting harder and harder for these games to keep us interested with each passing week.<br /><br />Leave it to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/homebrew">homebrew</a> superstar Mollusk to add some life to the number puzzle. As its name implies, <em>Skinz Sudoku</em> allows you to customize almost every visual detail of its interface. Dropping a PNG template into the game's included PAFS.bat file spits out a unique <em>Skinz Sudoku</em> ROM with your graphics. Jump past the post break for some examples of the different themes.<br /><br />Think of the possibilities! Design your screens with lightning bolts! Replace all of the numbers with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pokemon">Pok&eacute;mon</a> heads! Scan in a photo of your secret crush with a word balloon that says, "I luv u! Plz date me!" Just don't let anyone catch you locking lips with your DS after staring into his or her eyes for too long. Seriously guys, that's weird.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/30/give-the-sudoku-grid-a-new-look/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Give the Sudoku grid a new look</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/30/give-the-sudoku-grid-a-new-look/">Give the Sudoku grid a new look</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Apr 2007 17:00:00 EST. If you happen to be in the market for a new DS Lite, you can also pick up one of these bad boys, though "bad boys" may not be the most appropriate phrase, considering the bedazzling, beaded array of special edition skins on display here.<br /><br />It's a shame these aren't sold separately. Do we really need a reason to pick up another DS Lite, considering we all own like eight? No, we need reasons <em>not</em> to buy another! No wonder the games are on sale ....<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gaygamer.net/2007/03/ds_lite_gets_blinged_out_at_ta.html">Gay Gamer</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/27/target-pimping-out-ds-lites/">Target pimping out DS Lites</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Mar 2007 15:08:00 EST. The <a href="http://global.yesasia.com/assocred.asp?DRAZHJTP+http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/code-j/section-games/pid-1004570493/"><em>Salamander</em></a> one (pictured above) is clearly the coolest, but <a href="http://global.yesasia.com/assocred.asp?DRAZHJTP+http://us.yesasia.com/en/prdTransfer.aspx/pid-1004570482/"><em>Twinbee</em></a> and <a href="http://global.yesasia.com/assocred.asp?DRAZHJTP+http://us.yesasia.com/en/prdTransfer.aspx/pid-1004570492/"><em>Parodius</em></a> ain't too shabby either. The games will arrive in Japan on January 25th, and shooter fans may want to import these classics. The remaining skins can be seen, after the cut.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/index.php/2007/01/05/konami-releases-psp-skins-for-their-classic-shooters/">Siliconera</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/05/konami-offers-skins-with-new-shooter-collections/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Konami offers skins with new shooter collections</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/05/konami-offers-skins-with-new-shooter-collections/">Konami offers skins with new shooter collections</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 05 Jan 2007 17:00:00 EST. It's classy, Apple-like, and pleasing to the eyes. Still, many fans were quite perturbed at the lack of color options at launch, and without varying color schemes for at least the Wiimotes, it can become difficult to differentiate consoles and controllers if you ever get some friends over with their own controllers.<br /><br />We know you cheated by reading the headline, so yes, there are fancy skins available for your Wii! (For the portably minded, they also have quite a few <a href="http://www.decalgirl.com/browse.cfm/2,211.htm">DS Lite skins</a>.) There are currently 99 designs available, made of a thin material designed to cover as much of the console as possible. Moreover, for a few extra bucks (the console skin itself costs $14.99), you can get matching skins for your Wiimotes and nunchucks. Awesome? We think so. <br /><br />Also, after contacting the company, we've learned that they plan to open up the floor to custom designs sometime in December. So you can, you know, put a picture of your hot girlfriend on the Wii, or something. Whatever.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/27/fancy-wii-skins/">Fancy Wii skins</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 27 Nov 2006 17:20:00 EST. This <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rt9SjsUYBDg">amazing video</a> shows you footage from <em>Soft Skin English School Little Sexy Girl</em>, a program that teaches you English. Or tries to. By showing you near-naked girls. There's a hilarious mini-game, where you play rock paper scissors, and every time you win, the girl takes an article of clothing off. You won't see naughty bits, but this is <strong>absolutely not safe for work</strong>. So, the video is after the cut.<br /><br />*Picture completely unrelated. Well, it shows you yet another inappropriate English program for a portable device.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/10/soft-skin-english-school-little-sexy-girl/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Soft Skin English School Little Sexy Girl</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/10/soft-skin-english-school-little-sexy-girl/">Soft Skin English School Little Sexy Girl</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Aug 2006 22:10:00 EST.
