And, if you're <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LIW14tb1L0">the one person</a> looking at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/07/wii-releases-for-the-week-of-january-7th/">this week's releases</a> and snatching up some title about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/30/celebrating-ridiculous-sega-music-and-also-some-sonic-racing-ga/">air boarding</a> or whatever, this might not be the topic for you. Instead, we want to hear from all of you who decided to take the plunge with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/10/metareview-harvey-birdman-attorney-at-law/"><em>Harvey Birdman</em></a>.<br /><br />How many cases have you been through? Some of you may not be prepared for this news. We're kind of not prepared for it ourselves. The new <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/SonicRiders/">Sonic Riders</a></em> game, <em>Zero Gravity</em>, has a feature that we think is great: online rankings. That's something we've asked for in more Wii games (specifically <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/14/wii-warm-up-enter-initials/">VC games</a>, but we'll take it in anything), and we think it's a nice way for people who ... like to compete to do so.<br /><br />We could also see lag being a big-time problem in a racing game, especially one that uses wireless connections only for Internet play. Rankings sidestep that issue nicely. Good job, Sega! Keep showing us evidence that <em>work</em> is being done on this game! With the game due out in January, there's still plenty of time to add new stuff-- like <em>graphics.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/07/sonic-riders-features-online-leaderboards/">Sonic Riders features online leaderboards</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 07 Sep 2007 12:45:00 EST. Somehow, <em>Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity</em> manages to look worse in these screenshots than in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/22/first-screens-of-the-sonic-riders-sequel/">last ones</a>-- jaggier, with simpler geometry and less lighting effects. Have Sega's artists implemented a "pay per polygon" program? We doubt it's anything that complex-- it's much more likely that they're just reusing the already-rough-looking engine from last generation's <a href="http://media.cube.ign.com/media/770/770348/img_3397241.html"><em>Sonic Riders</em> game</a>. <br /><br />Sonic fans: we know you love the character, and that you associate strongly with the earlier games. We know that some of you out there collect the comics and loved the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaleel_White">Jaleel White</a>-voiced cartoon. We know that it's even possible that you've enjoyed one or two <em>Sonic</em> games since <em>Sonic Adventure 2</em>. <br /><br />But you <em>have to stop</em>, for the good of the series. No amount of <em>Sonic </em>fandom justifies buying what Sega is selling. Just ... stop, and force Sega to either improve their output or let the series die in dignity.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=24023">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/31/sonic-riders-zero-style/">Sonic Riders: Zero Style</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 31 Aug 2007 10:40:00 EST. The Wii and PS2 will be the recipients of another game starring Sega's mascot blue hedgehog, apparently, as <em>Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity</em> gets set to grace each console. A sequel to the lukewarm racer <em>Sonic Riders</em> from way back when in 2006 (we still can't believe the clothes we wore back then!), reports of the new title come from Playstation magazine <em>PLAY</em>.<br /><br />Details on the Wii-specific version are non-existent at the moment, but will include the trick system from the first title, as well as a cast of <em>Sonic </em>franchise characters.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/14/sonic-to-ride-again-on-the-wii/">Sonic to ride again on the Wii?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 Aug 2007 14:15:00 EST.
