Cartman's long-standing feud with half-brother Scott Tenorman is about to come to a platforming-based turning point, as <em>South Park: Tenorman's Revenge</em> launches next spring exclusively on Xbox Live Arcade. This marks the second and final game under Microsoft's exclusivity agreement with South Park Digital Studios, as we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/12/second-south-park-game-headed-exclusively-to-xbox-360/">revealed earlier this year</a>. <em>South Park: Let's Go Tower Defense Play!</em>, the first game in the deal, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/21/south-park-lets-go-tower-defense-play-hits-xbla-oct-7-prem/">debuted at NY Comic Con</a> two years ago (nearly to the day!).<br />
<br />
For <em>Tenorman's Revenge</em>, South Park Digital Studios and Comedy Central are teaming up with quirky developer Other Ocean Interactive to put together a downloadable platformer where players will control Cartman, Stan, Kenny and Kyle against a red-hued army of "gingers," controlled by none other than Scott Tenorman. Beyond the main campaign of (presumably) hopping over gingers and avoiding their evil tricks, the game also features a multiplayer co-op mode (online and off), though it's unclear if that's a separate mode or a co-op version of the campaign.<br />
<br />
We'll know more very soon, though, as <em>Tenorman's Revenge</em> will be making a more thorough debut at this weekend's New York Comic Con, where developers and South Park producers alike will present the game and take questions from the crowd. That debut takes place tomorrow at 6:15PM ET. So, uh, if you're not in New York yet, it's <em>probably</em> a good idea to start planning. Head past the break for an exclusive look at the first image, featuring everyone's favorite three animal combo (besides the turducken, of course), ManBearPig.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/13/south-park-tenormans-revenge-is-the-second-south-park-xbla-e/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>'South Park: Tenorman's Revenge' is the second South Park XBLA exclusive, arriving spring 2012</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/13/south-park-tenormans-revenge-is-the-second-south-park-xbla-e/">'South Park: Tenorman's Revenge' is the second South Park XBLA exclusive, arriving spring 2012</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Oct 2011 13:14:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/12/second-south-park-game-headed-exclusively-to-xbox-360/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/07/southparkheaderimg530px.jpg" /></a></div>
It's been nearly two years since the last <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/south-park-lets-go-tower-defense-play/"><em>South Park</em>-branded title</a> landed on Xbox Live Arcade, but apparently at least one more is in the works exclusively for Microsoft's digital marketplace. In speaking with 345 Games creative director Prithvi Virasinghe during a recent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ugly-americans-apocalypsegeddon/"><em>Ugly Americans: Apocalypsegeddon</em></a> preview, I couldn't help but wonder what other Comedy Central properties his studio might work on next -- perhaps one of the network's most famous?<br />
<br />
"Right now, <em>South Park</em> is actually in a first-party deal with Microsoft Studios, who published the first game, and they're doing a second game as well," he explained. Apparently <em>South Park: Let's Go Tower Defense Play!</em> was just the first of two titles in the deal, set to expire whenever that follow-up title launches. "After that, that first-party exclusivity window expires, and we get a shot of taking that back," Virasinghe explained.<br />
<br />
Though his team is up to the challenge, Virasinghe also has some other projects he's interested in first, particularly a couple of ideas <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/12/colbert-quest-and-the-colbert-report-games-that-could-be/">involving Stephen Colbert</a> (as well as Colbert's hilarious side character, Tek Jansen). That said, the developer needs to leap some hurdles before that can happen, the least of which is deciding whether or not its game idea fits well with the brand. According to him, "It has to be the right combination of game idea meets property." Personally, I'm holding out for Tek Jansen.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/12/second-south-park-game-headed-exclusively-to-xbox-360/">Second 'South Park' game headed exclusively to Xbox 360</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Jul 2011 19:00:00 EST. Seriously, guys? Everyone on the planet <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/12/modern-warfare-2-breaks-record-with-4-7-million-in-day-one-sales/">runs out and buys <em>Modern Warfare 2</em></a> and you're still playing <em>Call of Duty 4 </em>and <em>World at War</em>? We can understand you folks who chose to play <em>Halo 3</em> -- the whole <em>Modern Warfare 2</em> experience may not be your idea of a good time -- but <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/11/17/live-activity-for-week-of-nov-9th.aspx">Major Nelson's Xbox Live activity chart</a> for the week of November 9 simply vexes us.<br />
<br />
In less puzzling news, the XBLA activity is along the lines of something we're used to seeing. <em>Trials HD</em> remains atop the list, followed by <em>Castle Crashers</em> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/07/x3f-tv-xbla-in-brief-south-park-lucidity/"><em>South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play</em></a>. Konami's <em>Zombie Apocalypse</em> also managed to survive the gauntlet and make its way onto the list and, combined with the recent release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/left-4-dead-2"><em>Left 4 Dead 2</em></a>, we feel mankind is finally starting to reach acceptable levels of preparation for the inevitable future of a world plagued by the undead.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/18/xbox-live-top-10-people-apparently-played-cod4-world-at-war/">Xbox Live Top 10: People apparently played CoD4, World at War</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Nov 2009 10:30:00 EST. Okay, so <em>headshot</em> might be too strong a word here, but <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2"><em>Modern Warfare 2</em></a> has certainly <em>wounded</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla">Xbox Live Arcade</a> activity, as <a href="http://www.gamerbytes.com/2009/11/the_impact_of_modern_warfare_2.php?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+gamerbytes+%28GamerBytes%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader">GamerBytes</a> reports that top Arcade titles have seen a massive reduction in leaderboard activity since the release of Infinity Ward's latest <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/12/modern-warfare-2-breaks-record-with-4-7-million-in-day-one-sales/">blockbuster</a>. Specifically, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/trials-hd"><em>Trials HD</em></a> -- long the reigning XBLA champion -- saw its leaderboard numbers drop from 14,890 players on the week of November 2 to 8,942 the week of November 9, about a 40 percent loss. Meanwhile, other titles including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/south-park"><em>South Park</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zombie-apocalypse"><em>Zombie Apocalypse</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tower-bloxx-deluxe"><em>Tower Bloxx Deluxe</em></a> saw their leaderboards almost halved. <em>Castle Crashers</em>, curiously, only saw its numbers drop from 8,395 players to 6,034, a reduction of only 28 percent.<br />
<br />
Still, it's pretty clear that <em>Modern Warfare 2</em> has pulled a lot of gamers away from the more casual fare on XBLA. Either that, or lots of hardcore <em>Call of Duty</em> fans unceremoniously yanked the controllers from their more casually-oriented significant others.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/17/modern-warfare-2-headshots-xbla-activity/">Modern Warfare 2 headshots XBLA activity</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 Nov 2009 12:45:00 EST. <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/10/05/this-week-on-xlba-south-park-and-lucidity.aspx">Major Nelson</a> has announced that the two games gracing Xbox Live Arcade this week will be <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/lucidity"><em>Lucidity</em></a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/south-park,xbla"><em>South Park LET'S GO TOWER DEFENSE PLAY</em></a>. The first is a puzzle platformer from LucasArts with a positively delightful art style, while the second ... well it's pretty self explanatory. It's a tower defense game set against the backdrop of the famous, quiet little mountain town. <strong>Update:</strong> Above, we've added our own footage form the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sdcc-2009/">Comic-Con</a> show floor!<br /><br />Whatever you've been doing for the past 15 minutes, we promise you it's been more productive than us. See, we've been trying to make heads or tails of <a href="http://gamesblog.ugo.com/games/south-park-lets-go-tower-defense-play-trailer-kenny-is-dead-long-live-kenny">UGO</a>'s gameplay footage for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/south-park-lets-go-tower-defense-play">South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play!</a> </em>you'll find after the break.<br /><br />It looks sort of like a typical tower defense game, except the kids seem to be building the towers themselves. Also, they're sort of like mobile towers of their own, and it seems that several people are playing cooperatively. It's all very puzzling, but at least it can't be worse than <em>Chef's Luv Shack</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/see-south-park-lets-go-tower-defense-play-in-action/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Comic-Con 2009: South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play! in action</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/see-south-park-lets-go-tower-defense-play-in-action/">Comic-Con 2009: South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play! in action</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Jul 2009 19:15:00 EST. Remember that epic trailer showcasing the new <em>South Park</em> game for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla">Xbox Live Arcade</a>? All 2.4 seconds of it. No details were dropped regarding what type of game it would be but the <a href="http://www.southparkstudios.com/news/3492">South Park Studios</a> official site is already trying to fuel the hype train.<br />
<br />
A posting moments after it was unveiled at the conference reads: "A brand new <em>South Park</em> game is coming to Xbox Live in 2009. That's all we've got for now, but stay tuned for more details over the next few months. Let the speculations begin!"<br />
<br />
We don't have any guesses on what it will be but we hope it has nothing to do with that awful <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Park_(video_game)">first-person shooter</a> or the terrible <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Park_Rally">kart racing game</a> or that laughable <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Park:_Chef%27s_Luv_Shack">mini-game collection</a> or ... wait, are we supposed to speculate on whether or not it's going to suck? Who do we send our guesses to?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/18/e308-south-park-xbla-to-launch-in-2009/">E308: South Park XBLA to launch in 2009</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Jul 2008 12:15:00 EST.
