Do <i>you</i> remember <em>Strider?</em> I'm not asking if you have a vague awareness of it or even if you've played it -- do you remember the excitement of its arrival on the Sega Genesis? It was the first game to shove <i>eight megabits</i> of memory into a single console cartridge, a fact loudly proclaimed by an emblem on the <a target="_blank">box art</a> that screams "8MEGA MEMORY." It featured enemies like a giant centipede made out of people, an evil guy in a robe who (as the story goes) took out five of the seven continents without breaking a sweat, and, of course, giant robot dinosaurs.<br />
<br />
If you owned a Sega Genesis in 1990, <i>Strider</i> was a Big Damn Deal.<br />
<br />
21 years later, it can be said with no great amount of equivocation that the quietly-released <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/moon-diver"><i>Moon Diver</i></a> is about as far as one can get from a Big Damn Deal. What <i>Moon Diver</i> is, however, is as close to "<i>Strider</i> for the 21st century" as we may ever see. It looks like <i>Strider</i>, it plays like <i>Strider</i>, it even features a production credit from none other than Kouichi Yotsui, <em>Strider's </em>director. While it never explicitly references the 20-and-change-year-old classic, it is quite obviously cut from its cloth. <em>Moon Diver's</em> prime target audience, then, is those who do remember <i>Strider</i> as a Big Damn Deal.<br />

As far as lumbering, big-budget franchises go, <em>Final Fantasy</em>'s a bit of an anomaly. Yes, yes, the giant swords, giant-er hair styles, and comparatively small horse birds contribute to that, but indulge me for a moment while I discuss<em> </em>business trends.<br />
<br />
In an ocean of same-y sequels where all the major players seem content to tread water,<em> Final Fantasy</em>'s willingness to regularly reinvent itself is pretty damn impressive. Well, when it comes to the main series, anyway. Spin-offs, it seems, don't count - at least, if <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dissidia-012-final-fantasy"><em>Dissidia 012 [duodecim] Final Fantasy</em></a> is any indication. So, remember all that intense love/hatred/apathy you felt toward the original <em>Dissidia</em>? That's pretty much what you'll be getting here as well.<br />

Thanksgiving this year will include both turkey and time travel, a magical cocktail made possible by Square Enix. The company said that it'll ship its DS throwback to SNES favorite <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/chrono-trigger"><em>Chrono Trigger</em></a> in North America on November 25, just two days before families sit down for the annual feast.<br /><br />Giving players plenty to keep them busy while fighting off the adverse effects of tryptophan, <em>Chrono Trigger</em>'s DS debut promises new dungeons, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/16/e308-chrono-triggers-controls-explained/">touchable controls</a> and an arena mode. Additionally, as the RPG keeps with the original's pixelated sense of style, Square Enix has all but ensured that Thanksgiving 2008 will play out much the same way as it did some thirteen years prior, as we ignore seldom seen family members in favor of the more interesting trio of Crono, Lucca and Frog.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/18/chrono-trigger-turns-back-ds-clock-on-november-25/">Chrono Trigger turns back DS clock on November 25</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 18 Aug 2008 16:45:00 EST. With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/e3-2008/">2008's edition of E3</a> just days away, the role-playing steam engine that is Square Enix has revealed what titles that it will spring on press types as they shuffle past. Of the eleven titles on display, the company's lineup this year is noticeably remake and sequel heavy, with over half of the games representing a return to the well for another drink. Boasting "simultaneous global releases for several platforms," the company has also re-confirmed dates for much of its lineup as well, with the following games also noted as being playable during the show:<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/chrono-trigger"><em><br /></em></a>

<div>Another Japanese magazine, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dengeki_PlayStation">Dengeki Playstation,</a> published yet another interview with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dissidia/"><em>Dissdia: Final Fantasy</em></a> team. The gang consisting of producer Tetsuya Normura, senior director Takeshi Arakawa and planning director Mitsunori Takahashi were present to answer some burning questions fans had about the game.<br /><br />Takahashi started off by stating only 20% of the game has been shown thus far and a "solid release date" will be announced at an event in August. He asserts that fans who are comfortable with the original RPGs should be a-okay with <em>Dissidia</em>, which is labeled an "Action-RPG plus competitive fighting." Storywise, Nomura said he made Tidus' counterpart Jecht rather than Seymour because Seymour lacked a "proper connection" with Tidus. Arakawa then assured us they are still in the process of "fine tuning the original story details behind the characters' births, relationships, interactions." <br /><br />Arakawa also mentioned an online feature tentatively named "Battling Community" where the focus is "being connected to others trying to discover their own merits" and less focus on "things like battle strength/ranking." Finally, he disclosed a rather startling fact: "the script is double the length of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crisis-core"><em>Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII</em></a>." The game prologue mentions Remnants as ancient artifacts of awesome power but unknown origins, and that mankind's usage of them has caused "a rift in the world's balance." Isn't there always a rift in the world's balance in every Square game?<br />
<p>The game is to be a 360 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/10/star-ocean-4-currently-xbox-exclusive-last-remnant-delayed-on-p/">timed-exclusive</a> supposedly because of a delay caused by the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/18/last-remnant-dev-says-unreal-engine-cause-behind-ps3-delay/">Unreal Engine</a> the game is using. The screenshots seems to focus on the environment, landscape and building architecture of the game. The style also reminds us of <em>Final Fantasy XII</em>. So, still looking forward to <em>The Last Remnant</em> or bitter over the delay?</p>

The Japanese website of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Dissidia/"><em>Dissidia: Final Fantasy</em></a> has just been updated with new material. The story, characters, screenshots, credits, and general game information are now available for viewing. Clicking on Story will lead you to a short scene of the Warrior of Light from the original <em>Final Fantasy</em> readying his sword followed by a synopsis of the story. Under Characters you can view characters from <em>Final Fantasy</em> <em>I</em>, <em>II</em>, <em><strike>VII</strike> VIII</em>, and <em>IX</em> and their corresponding screenshots. Noticeably absent are the most popular characters, those from <em>Final Fantasy VII</em> and <em>X</em>. Under Info you will find credits and general information about the game. Come check out everything <a href="http://www.square-enix.co.jp/dissidia/">here</a>.<br /><br />[Thanks, salika!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/26/dissidia-final-fantasy-website-updated-with-story-and-character/">Dissidia: Final Fantasy website updated with story and characters</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Jun 2008 02:15:00 EST. While video game music is no longer simply the series of 'beeps' and 'boops' it was in the past, it has nonetheless remained one of game design's -- groan -- unsung heroes. This isn't lost on tune-focused <a href="http://www.music4games.net/Features_Display.aspx?id=269">Music4Games</a>, and in a recent interview with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/kingdomhearts"><em>Kingdom Hearts</em></a> composer Yoko Shimomura, she spoke out on a number of topics, including her thoughts on creating music for the PlayStation 3.<br /><br />According to Shimomura, who is responsible for the tunes we'll be humming along to in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/squareenix/">Square Enix's</a> upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/20/tgs07-final-fantasy-versus-xiii-trailer-impressions/"><em>Final Fantasy Versus XIII</em></a> for the PS3, composing on Sony's current platform is much less limiting than it was in previous generations. "With the PlayStation 2, sound production...was a constant battle with memory and limitations," she recalled, adding that "with the PlayStation 3, I'm expecting to have it sound the way I please, without limitations." It's encouraging to hear someone at any level talk about creating content on the PS3 that doesn't involve the words "difficult" or "costly." However, with Square Enix continuing to play coy with regards to when its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/23/final-fantasy-xiii-series-to-last-ten-years/">decade of <em>Final Fantasy</em></a><em> </em>will actually kick off, it may be some time before our ears ring with the fruits of Yoko Shimomura's musical labor.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/02/kingdom-hearts-composer-yoko-shimomura-talks-ps3-musical-freedom/">Kingdom Hearts composer Yoko Shimomura talks PS3 musical freedom</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 02 Jun 2008 08:50:00 EST. A slime approaches, and by slime we of course mean the DS remake of 1990 Famicom classic <em>Dragon Quest IV</em>. A <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=298578">NeoGAF</a> poster has found that Square Enix has quietly launched <a href="http://na.square-enix.com/zenithia/">the official teaser site</a> for <em>Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen</em>, listing the still unannounced localization for release stateside on September 16. <br /><br />Even more interesting, the site also shows off logos for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/30/dragon-quest-iv-v-vi-remakes-bound-for-ds/">upcoming remakes</a> <em>Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride</em> and <em>Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie</em> as well, though sans release dates, all but assuring that North American role-playing enthusiasts will be neck-deep in metal slimes for the foreseeable future.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/21/dragon-quest-iv-ds-remake-coming-september-16/">Dragon Quest IV DS remake coming September 16</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 May 2008 08:30:00 EST. <em>Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King</em> turns RPG gamers into a coach, vicariously living out the glory of dungeon quests by sending in adventurers. I saw the game at the Nintendo Media Summit and didn't understand the appeal. Aren't the quests the best part of RPGs?<br /><br />If you think upgrades and management are RPG highlights, maybe you'll like <em>My Life as a King</em>. Your young character returns to an abandoned castle to reclaim his dynasty after his dad left in exile. Your job is to spruce up the place, adding new shops that attract and upgrade townsfolk. Some buildings just allow for more people to move in, while weapon shops, magic guilds, and other structures help advance your people.<br /><br />But with limited coffers, you'll have to send these citizens on quests to raid dungeons and return with more resources to keep building. Force a weak party into a dangerous situation, and they'll crawl back, beaten-down and loot-free. Send a well-equipped party into battle, and they'll bring back treasure.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-king/">Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-king/#753095"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/ffccmlk_screenshot1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-king/#753094"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/ffccmlk_screenshot2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-king/#753093"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/ffccmlk_screenshot8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-king/#753092"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/ffccmlk_screenshot3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-as-a-king/#753091"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/ffccmlk_screenshot6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/15/joystiq-impressions-final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-a/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq impressions: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (WiiWare)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/15/joystiq-impressions-final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-my-life-a/">Joystiq impressions: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (WiiWare)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Apr 2008 17:45:00 EST. Square Enix sent word by airship today that <em><strike>Final Fantasy II</strike> Final Fantasy IV</em> is ready for its 3D re-envisioning on <a href="http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=109&amp;STORY=/www/story/04-10-2008/0004790234&amp;EDATE=">July 22 in North America</a>. This DS version of <em>Final Fantasy IV</em> -- beyond the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/10/final-fantasy-iv-then-and-now/">graphical upgrade</a> -- also features some fully voiced cutscenes and added content. <br /><br />It appears <em>Nintendo Power</em> was right on the money with a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/09/nintendo-power-ffiv-ds-coming-in-july/">July release</a> -- as one would hope they would be. Other upgrades the title boasts are a remixed score by composer Nobuo Uematsu and "head-to-head battle" via local wireless. The game will retail for $40 and certainly makes for the perfect game to avoid conversation during the end-of-summer family road trip.<br />

If you've watched the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/star-ocean-4/"><em>Star Ocean 4</em></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/31/star-ocean-4-trailer-feature-space-opera-battles-galore/">trailer</a> posted last Monday, perhaps you were a little annoyed seeing the main characters' faces purposefully cropped out of the picture. If that's the case, then be happy for today's Famitsu scans; they are equally pretty and most of all crop-free. The scans reveal character artwork for protagonists Edge Maverick and Reimi Saionji. <br /><br />Aside from that, however, nothing else major has been revealed about this <em>Star Ocean</em> prequel. We do get a brief look at the in-game graphics though. As far as we can tell, the game is shaping up nicely. A new interview with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/finalfantasyiv/"><em>Final Fantasy IV</em></a> director Takashi Tokita in the latest Nintendo Power seems to point to the game's recent DS remake being localized for North American audiences. Oh sure, he doesn't come right out and confirm the localization -- where's the drama in that? -- but given that the article comes peppered with English language screens and the game itself is featured on the cover, we're certainly leaning towards believing that the RPG will soon be getting some domestic love.<br /><br />Tokita also toys with our emotions, speaking to the possibility of a remake of SNES RPG classic <em>Chrono Trigger</em> provided "the demand is great enough." Though like coming down hard off a caffeine high, he sends us crashing back down to earth by adding that he really wants to "create new titles and not just series installments and remakes." Yours is a cruel love, mon cher.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.dsfanboy.com/2008/03/31/final-fantasy-iv-on-the-way-to-the-u-s/">DS Fanboy</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/01/final-fantasy-iv-coming-to-north-america-maybe/">Final Fantasy IV coming to North America ... maybe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Apr 2008 13:30:00 EST. We can, however, celebrate the second Square Enix title to come to the North American Virtual Console, and it's a lot closer to an RPG than <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/28/actraiser-kid-chameleon-on-the-virtual-console/">the last one</a>.<br />

    <li><em>King's Knight </em>(NES, 1 player, 500 Wii points): A crazed hybrid between vertical-scrolling shooter and RPG, this game was one of the first examples of destructible environments -- you can pretty much destroy everything in your path. You know the drill: choose your character, level up, kill a dragon, save the princess.<br /></li>
    <li><em><a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=V9RSvUmKr8g">Powerball</a> </em>(Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii points): This bastard child of rugby and football born eons into the future, <em>Powerball</em> has you smack the snot out of the opposing team as you vie for the chance to run the powerball into your neon-lit goal for points.</li>

<a href="http://www.pspfanboy.com/2008/03/22/new-trailer-for-crisis-core-is-all-about-summons/">Watching this trailer</a> may embed some niggling questions in your mind -- questions like: Is it safe to run on top of trains? Why does Cloud have black hair? Who at Square Enix decided that story-rich fantasy and <a href="http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Butt+Rock">gut-crunching metal</a> were a good mix? However, this video should eliminate any question in your mind that a spiritual sequel to a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VII">3-disc RPG masterpiece</a> could fit on a UMD. Focusing mostly on summons, a <em>Final Fantasy</em> staple, this trailer has pushed our excitement for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Crisis%20Core">Crisis Core</a></em> far beyond our apprehension towards the game. We just hope the final product has music of a more ... listenable variety.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/22/new-crisis-core-trailer-shows-off-summons-butt-rock/">New Crisis Core trailer shows off summons, butt rock</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 22 Mar 2008 20:30:00 EST. Two crushing disappointments awaited us in the latest Square Enix press release. The first, admittedly, was entirely due to our misreading of the subject line and consequent imagining of the many, many flavors Final Fantasy Tictacs could contain. Just think: You'd have the sour Squall-flavored ones, the spicy Red XIIIs, a couple of Cloud candies (indiscernible from Sephiroth flavor) , the Tidus fruit droplets and ... well, now you see why were <em>so</em> disappointed.<br /><br />Similarly, we didn't quite appreciate the North American release date for Final Fantasy <em>Tactics</em> A2: Grimoire of the Rift. You'll only be able to stick the third part of the "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/13/square-enix-establishes-ivalice-alliance/">Ivalice Alliance</a>" into your DS on June 24th, which is quite a long way off if you're a Final Fan of strategic RPG-ery. Square Enix promises it'll be worth the wait though, as the grimoire comes packed with 400 quests, "polished game mechanics," stylus controls and new jobs and classes.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-tactics-a2-ds/">Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (DS)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-tactics-a2-ds/#709133"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/final-fantasy-tactics-a2-031908-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-tactics-a2-ds/#709526"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/ffta2_battle-031908_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-tactics-a2-ds/#709136"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/final-fantasy-tactics-a2-031908-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-tactics-a2-ds/#709527"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/ffta2_dual-031908_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-tactics-a2-ds/#709134"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/final-fantasy-tactics-a2-031908-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/19/final-fantasy-tactics-a2-not-released-b4-june-24/">Final Fantasy Tactics A2 not released B4 June 24</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Mar 2008 20:00:00 EST. Well, folks, our latest giveaway has come to an end and it's time we hooked someone up with our review copy of <em>Dragon Quest Swords</em>. Many have entered, but only one can be crowned victorious. Let's all congratulate:<br />
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/profile/948218/">Justin</a>, who, sadly, "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/11/wii-fanswag-win-a-copy-of-dragon-quest-swords/12#c11031313">got the <em>Dragon Warrior</em> cart free with a subscription to Nintendo Power. It, sadly, is the only DW/DQ game that I've played</a>."</li>

Well, Justin, that's about to change! Consider yourself a winner! So, congratulations and better luck next time to the rest of you. We've already got <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/17/wii-fanswag-win-some-games-from-atari/">our next giveaway up and running</a>, in case you're looking to try your luck again.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragon-quest-swords/">Dragon Quest Swords</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragon-quest-swords/#274700"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/win06-11ak-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragon-quest-swords/#274701"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/win06-11ak-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragon-quest-swords/#274703"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/win06-11ak-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragon-quest-swords/#274704"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/win06-11ak-8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragon-quest-swords/#274705"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/06/win06-11ak-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/17/wii-fanswag-and-the-dragon-quest-swords-winner-is/">Wii Fanswag: And the Dragon Quest Swords winner is ...</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Mar 2008 22:00:00 EST. Famitsu has a small piece up on Square Enix's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/valkyrie-profile-game-in-the-works-for-ds/">upcoming DS entry in their <em>Valkyrie Profile</em> series</a>, providing us with some screens, as well as a small taste of the brilliant cutscenes that often get sprinkled liberally throughout the RPG kingpin's titles. And while we'd like to report on more of the game, we just cannot. We're not even sure when this is going to release in Japan right now.<br /><br />Head on over to Famitsu to check out the screens (now with 100% less blur!).<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=38008">Go Nintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/17/screens-for-valkyrie-profile-you-dont-have-to-squint-at/">Screens for Valkyrie Profile you don't have to squint at</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Mar 2008 12:00:00 EST. The first, of course, is the set of people eagerly awaiting the English version of Square Enix's portable <em>Final Fantasy VII</em> prequel,<em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crisis-core">Crisis Core</a></em>. Though American fans are due to receive the PSP game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/17/crysis-core-coming-to-the-u-s-march-25/">later this month</a>, folks in the UK have to wait a bit longer. The wait may not be without reward, however, as a "<a href="http://www.gamestation.co.uk/product.asp?id=preBR0003">Special Pre-Order Edition</a>" of <em>Crisis Core: FF7</em> (complete with obligatory art book and slipcase) has been spotted on certain retailer websites. <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=94728">Eurogamer</a> notes that an announcement is "imminent," and suggests that offers for the rest of Europe may differ.<br /><br />Oh, and the other group? That would be the smaller and decidedly more eccentric bunch that absolutely hates the F7 key for no apparent reason. We apologize if Google search picked up on our headline and led you astray. With the game set for release next week, we're anxious to see how the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/04/ring-of-cutscenes/"><em>Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles</em></a> formula will work out on the DS. We had a lot of fun with the game on the GameCube and are looking forward to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/20/gdc08-fresh-screens-and-a-name-change-for-wii-ware-final-fantas/">the Wii Ware game</a>, so it's only natural that we'd get excited for the DS game, as well. How about you all, though? Still on the fence? <br /><br />Hit up our gallery below for a bunch of new screens. It may bring you down off that fence.<br /><br /><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://wiiz.fr/article.php?a=16750">Wiiz</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/06/file-these-new-ffcc-ring-of-fates-screens-under-new/">File these new FFCC Ring of Fates screens under 'new'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 06 Mar 2008 17:00:00 EST. A promotional poster for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dissidia/"><em>Final Fantasy Dissidia</em></a> has surfaced online showcasing the <em>FF </em>villains from games one through ten. Supposedly drawn by Yoshitaka Amano, this poster is a bit of a "where's Waldo" picture game if you're looking out for all the villains. So far, we can point out: Garland (I), Emperor Palamecia (II), Cloud of Darkness (III), Golbez (IV), Exdeath (V), Kefka (VI), Sephiroth (VII), Ultimecia (VIII), Kuja (IX), and Jecht (X). Can you find them all? <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.n4g.com/News-118003.aspx">N4G</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/02/rumor-dissidia-poster-reveals-ff-villains/">Rumor: Dissidia poster reveals FF villains</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 02 Mar 2008 15:00:00 EST. As we discovered during our trip to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/01/joystiq-vs-the-square-enix-store/">Japan's Square Enix store</a> last year, the many worlds of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/finalfantasy"><em>Final Fantasy</em></a> are pockmarked by some surprisingly deep merchandise mines. No matter what the item -- t-shirts, mugs, jewelery, clothing, action figures or <em>spoons</em> -- chances are a tenuous link can be established between it and your favorite spiky-haired moper. Replicas of the many extravagant and frequently weapons are fine too, just as long as they're approved by Square Enix.<br />
<br />
The company today announced <a href="http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=109&amp;STORY=/www/story/02-12-2008/0004754644&amp;EDATE=">a federal lawsuit</a> filed in the Central District of California against "alleged infringers of Square Enix's intellectual property." Specifically, said infringers include "at least" four wholesalers of unlicensed sword replicas based on four video games and a CG movie (likely <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/19/final-fantasy-vii-advent-children-complete-trailer/"><em>Advent Children</em></a>) within the <em>Final Fantasy</em> franchise. "While Square Enix appreciates the enthusiasm of its fans, and values its relationship with<br />
them," said Square Enix General Counsel Yasuhiko Hasegawa, "it is also obligated to protect its intellectual property rights or risk weakening or losing the very rights that enable the company to continue to provide its fans with an exciting entertainment experience."<br />
<br />
The lawsuit has its swordid (<em>OOF!</em>) origins in the recent seizure of a crate full of "counterfeit" replica blades by the United States Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Patrol. Following an investigation, Square Enix located the primary wholesalers and retailers of these "unauthorized products in the United States." We hope this turn of events will serve as a lesson to all of you looking to sell real things based on fake things.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/12/square-enix-lawyers-on-guard-against-final-fantasy-replica-sword/">Square Enix lawyers on guard against Final Fantasy replica swords</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Feb 2008 18:30:00 EST. Boy, this is awkward ... After "<a target="_blank" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/27/ffxiii-designer-promises-demo-2008-release-date/">certain videogame websites</a>" reported last week that <em>Final Fantasy XIII</em> had been promised for 2008, Square Enix has issued this sobering <a href="http://www.square-enix.com/na/company/press/2008/0130/" target="_blank">statement</a>: "Any reports of a confirmed release date are erroneous and should be disregarded. Square Enix will make an official announcement in the future concerning the release date when it has been determined."<br /><br />While we had corrected and reclassified our post as a mistranslation before the release of this statement, we felt it important to highlight Square Enix's official response to the misinformation, despite again acknowledging our error. <br /><strong>Developer:</strong> Square Enix<br /><strong>Publisher:</strong> Square Enix<br /><strong>Release:</strong> TBA<br /><br />What separates <em>Final Fantasy Tactics Advance</em> from most other handheld SRPGS? Its level of polish. As with the original <em>Final Fantasy Tactics</em> game for the PlayStation, Square Enix put its talents and resources behind <em>FFTA's</em> soundtrack, character designs, and solid mechanics. Even today, five years later, the GBA title's presentation outclasses releases like <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hoshigamiremix">Hoshigami Remix</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/luminousarc">Luminous Arc</a></em>. <br /><br /><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ffta2">Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift</a></em> continues that high-budget, high-quality tradition. While Square Enix hasn't yet announced a US release date, and we're disappointed about the the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/17/ffta2-preparing-ourselves-for-disappointment/">lack of both online and offline multiplayer features</a>, we're excited about all the sequel's additions -- 400 missions, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/revenantwings"><em>Revenant Wings</em>-esque</a> item synthesis, a reworked law system, bigger enemies, an expanded map with distributed "area maps," and a ton of new job classes.<br /><br /><em>FFTA2</em> now boasts over 45+ different professions, ranging from Chocobo Knights (Chocobo-riding Moogles) to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/10/final-fantasy-tactics-a2-to-feature-bastards/">Bastards</a> (a surly lot). Just as interesting as the vocations included are the ones that were cut from the final release due to time constraints or continuity issues. We came across their design documents while sifting through Square Enix's dumpster for discarded <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/16/mini-ffiv-figures-are-super-teeny-super-cute/">figurines</a>, and we've posted the never-seen-before job classes right here for you!<br /><br /><strong>Chimney Sweep</strong><br />

We know that <em>Final Fantasy</em> games, much like fine wine and Radiohead albums, take some time to come together nicely -- still, it's hard for us to believe that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/FinalFantasyXIII/">Final Fantasy XIII</a></em> (in all its shapes and forms) will be dropping any time soon. We've had our hearts broken so many times by delays for hotly anticipated titles that we've sadly come to expect them.<br /><br />Fear not, for the long wait for the Fabula Nova Crystallis collection will be over soon enough. According to <a href="http://finalfantasyversusxiii.net/2008/01/23/famitsu-ffxiii-story-details-and-a-demo-in-2008.html">FinalFantasyVersusXIII.net</a>'s translation (there appear to be <a href="http://www.ff-xiii.net/index.php?page=article&amp;article=223">conflicting versions</a>), game director Motomu Toriyama teases that a playable demo for <em>FFXIII</em> would be arriving in 2008 to show off the game's revamped battle system. So don your steepled hat and cuddle tight your cactuar plushie -- your chance to sit down with <a href="http://www.the-magicbox.com/0801/game080123b.shtml">the unluckiest chapter</a> in Square Enix's seminal RPG franchise may have just gotten a teensy bit closer.<br /><br />[<strong>Update:</strong> We originally posted an incorrect interpretation of the original translated comments. The post has been corrected and Joystiq apologizes for the error.]<br /><br />[<strong>Update 2:</strong> Square Enix has released an official response - and we eat <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/31/square-enix-final-fantasy-xiii-release-date-rumors-erroneous/" target="_blank">more crow</a>.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/27/ffxiii-designer-promises-demo-2008-release-date/">Rumor: FFXIII director predicts demo in 2008 [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 27 Jan 2008 15:15:00 EST. For <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/20/square-enix-eyes-european-developers-for-purchase/">over a year</a>, Square Enix CEO John Yamamoto has been saying that the future of the company's enterprises lies in Europe, expressing interest in acquiring at least one Western studio to assist in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/24/square-enix-hunting-for-foreign-partners/">broadening Square Enix's mass-market appeal</a>.<br /><br />MCV reports that Yamamoto is <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/29328/Square-Enix-eyes-up-Western-developers">reiterating his earlier statements</a>, but that this time he really means it. As part of a new worldwide focus, MCV asserts that Square Enix will most likely be buying up a European developer sometime in 2008. In addition to including Western-developed titles under the umbrella of Square Enix, Yamamoto also promises to fully localize more titles for international distribution than in previous years. It's a neat idea, but we'll have to wait and see if Square Enix follows through this time.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/15/square-enix-still-eying-western-developers-for-purchase/">Square Enix (still) eying Western developers for purchase</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Jan 2008 12:00:00 EST. Impatient fans have been translating the game's script since the 3D remake's release last month, and they have already released a "semi-final beta" translation patch with most of the description text now in English! <br /><br />According to the group's progress table, only a few sections still need translation (e.g. monster descriptions, location names), so a full and final English patch doesn't seem <em>too</em> far off. Famitsu dropped a megaton on us: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/17/final-fantasy-iv-screens-just-like-importing-without-the-actua/"><em>Final Fantasy IV</em></a> boxart. We know, we fell down when we found out about it, too. In fact, our bottom <em>still</em> hurts from the force at which it slammed to the ground. <br /><br />Personally, we're liking the character grouping in the center, but could do without all of the <em>blue everywhere</em>. We understand it's cloudy, but sheesh. Toss some color in for us outside of Japan, please!<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/18/final-fantasy-iv-boxart-gets-final/">Final Fantasy IV boxart gets final</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Dec 2007 13:30:00 EST. <br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/square-enix">Square Enix</a> unveiled its <em>release strategy</em> for early 2008 today, keeping its games on our minds and reminding us to plan our spring budgets accordingly. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ffcc">Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates</a></em>, the four-player co-op ARPG, ships out to North American stores on March 11, 2008, almost seven months since its debut in Japan. With that long of a delay, we're hoping for some added content with the US release (e.g. online features with more depth than moogle-trading).<br /><br />As for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/itsawonderfulworld">The World Ends With You</a></em> (a.k.a. <em>It's a Wonderful World</em>, <em>Subarashiki Kono Sekai</em>), Square Enix plans to bring the stylized romp through Tokyo's Shibuya district stateside around "spring 2008." You can check out screenshots and artwork for both games in the galleries we've dropped below. Still missing from Square Enix's schedule: <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ffiv">Final Fantasy IV</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ffta2">Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dqiv">Dragon Quest IV</a></em>, and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dqix">Dragon Quest IX</a></em>.<br /><br />
<br /><br />[Via Press Release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/17/release-schedule-announced-for-ring-of-fates-the-world-ends-wit/">Release schedule announced for Ring of Fates, The World Ends With You</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Dec 2007 18:00:00 EST. At least it is to Square Enix, which recently <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/international/news/e3i2b2de0172fdbe9137679e8ceeda4715d">won a plagiarism case</a> against South Korean music video producer Fantom to the tune of 16 million won (approx. $17,400).<br /><br />The case centers on the video for the song <span style="font-style: italic;">Temptation Sonata</span>, in which live actors recreate a scene from Square Enix's animated movie, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/adventchildren"><span style="font-style: italic;">Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children</span></a>. According to a judge for the Seoul Central District Court, the video "illegally used 80% of the storyline, setting, characters and their styles of dress and their demeanors," from the movie scene. We're not sure how the judge came to such an exact statistic, but who are we to argue with such an official sounding pronouncement?<br /><br />A comparison of the videos (both viewable below the break) shows much more than a passing similarity between the two, and Square was definitely within its rights taking legal action. That said, we have to wonder what Square Enix felt it had to gain from a court case. Is this video really hurting the company's ability to milk insane amounts of money out off the <span style="font-style: italic;">Final Fantasy</span> franchise? Does seeing the video makes someone less likely to buy a copy of <span style="font-style: italic;">Advent Children</span>? What's next, a legal case against the makers of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/04/final-college-fantasy/" style="font-style: italic;">College Saga</a>? We just hope the negative PR associated with this case is worth the massive $17,000 pay day Square Enix made off of it.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/11/square-wins-plagiarism-case-against-korean-music-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Square wins plagiarism case against Korean music video</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/11/square-wins-plagiarism-case-against-korean-music-video/">Square wins plagiarism case against Korean music video</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Dec 2007 14:45:00 EST. The Japanese website for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/05/ffiv-looking-as-sumptuous-as-ever-in-new-trailer/"><em>Final Fantasy IV</em></a> has updated with new goodies. First off, is an update to the character section, which describes a lot of the game's characters. There is also the download section, which has some sweet wallpapers available. Three of those wallpapers are of in-game characters, with the last new wallpaper available being one kickass piece of concept art. So, head on over and check the new stuff out.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=31292">Go Nintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/11/final-fantasy-iv-japanese-site-rolls-out-the-updates/">Final Fantasy IV Japanese site rolls out the updates</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Dec 2007 13:30:00 EST. As Square Enix president Yoichi Wada spoke with <a href="http://japan.cnet.com/sp/game2007/story/0,3800082083,20362326,00.htm" target="_blank">CNET Japan</a>, we borrowed Engadget Japan's <a href="http://japanese.engadget.com/bloggers/ittousai/" target="_blank">Ittousai</a> and listened in. While Wada defined the Square Enix vision as a 5-year plan to be a Top 3 worldwide publisher (currently ranked 11th by <em>Game Developer</em>), he's still having trouble seeing where Sony is going with PlayStation 3. "Is it a game console for gamers or a high-performance consumer electronics machine?" Wada wondered. "I really want [Sony] to make a clear decision."<br /><br />As for Square Enix's own business plan, Wada doesn't want loyalists to think the company will water down its franchises to appeal to a broader market, though recent releases would suggest otherwise. When questioned about Square Enix's reliance on <em>Final Fantasy</em> and <em>Dragon Quest</em> (including a recycling campaign and string of simplified spin-offs), Wada countered with numbers, claiming that the two franchises accounted for less than half of the company's revenues. His defense suggested that fans' demands for new installments were the reason Square Enix dedicates 60% of development resources to existing IPs. <em>Want something new?</em> Quit with the death threats and love notes.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/05/square-enix-prez-sees-goals-clearly-ps3-fuzzy/">Square Enix prez sees goals clearly, PS3 fuzzy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 05 Dec 2007 17:10:00 EST. <br />We already <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/31/man-look-at-that-ffiv-cartridge-its-huge/">knew</a> that Square Enix's remake of <em>Final Fantasy IV</em> was going to require a whopping 1 gigabit cartridge, and this latest trailer from the company's <a href="http://www.square-enix.co.jp/ff4ds/main.html">official site</a> neatly sums up <em>why</em>. Look at it for heaven's sake! FMV, full 3D models, voice acting, and all playing out to Megumi Ida's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/26/megumi-ida-lays-down-some-vocals-for-final-fantasy-iv/">entrancing vocals</a>. As long as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/17/ffiv-ds-to-remove-spoony-bard/">our favourite line</a> is preserved in the localized English version, Square Enix may as well take our wallets from us now.<br /><br />[Thanks, creamsugar!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/05/ffiv-looking-as-sumptuous-as-ever-in-new-trailer/">FFIV looking as sumptuous as ever in new trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 05 Dec 2007 14:15:00 EST. Titled <em>The World Ends with You</em>, the game will supposedly be released in the spring of 2008 to North America and Europe. As you already know, it was developed by the team behind the <em>Kingdom Hearts </em>series of games.<br /><br />In case you missed our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/09/a-wonderful-world-of-complicated-gameplay/">previous coverage</a> of the game in action, it's pretty busy regarding gameplay, but in a good way. We wonder if Square will decide to release any special edition DS Lite with the game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/31/its-a-wonderful-ds-lite/">like they did</a> in Japan?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/05/its-a-wonderful-world-outside-of-japan/">It's a Wonderful World (outside of Japan)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 05 Dec 2007 10:30:00 EST.
