Capcom's talking about HD remixing some more titles following the <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/12/18/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-sells-250k-units/">success</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a>. Capcom VP Christian Svensson tells <a href="http://www.videogamer.com/news/capcom_were_not_done_with_hd_remixes.html">VideoGamer</a> that not every game needs it, but the company is going to "potentially" apply the formula to other fighting games in the company's catalog. Next time, however, it plans do it "better, based on what [it] learned" -- which we'll take to mean <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-for-xbla-announced/">cutting down development time</a>.<br /><br />When asked if <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2">Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a></em> would be HD-ified, Svensson commented that it's probably the title fans request the most, but he has no news to share about that. We know retro <em>Mega Man</em> is <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/mega-man-9">en vogue</a>, but an HD remix of <em>Mega Man 2</em> could be interesting.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1167186"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/sc1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110108"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110107"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-18_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110106"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110105"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/12/capcom-not-done-with-hd-remixing/">Capcom not done with HD Remixing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Mar 2009 17:30:00 EST. Maybe it's just us but <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Super-Street-Fighter-II-HD-Remix/">Super Street Fighter II HD Remix</a></em> looks hella pretty. Pretty perfect, actually. Unfortunately some videophiles may not agree as news has come out that <em>SSFIIHDR</em> upscales in-game character sprites and crops backgrounds when played in 16:9 wide screen. According to notorious pixel counters <a href="http://www.digitalfoundry.org/blog/?p=273">Digital Foundry</a>, <em>SSFIIHDR</em> is scaling characters and cropping backgrounds because the game was developed to be played old school, that is to say using 4:3 aspect ratio. While we like our games pretty we just don't see enough issue and it becomes even less apparent while you're playing the game. Videophiles have a right to know, though.<br /> <br /> [via <a href="http://www.gamersglobal.com/news/1456">GamersGlobal</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/30/super-street-fighter-ii-hd-looks-slightly-less-appealing-to-som/">Super Street Fighter II HD looks slightly less appealing, to some</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 30 Nov 2008 14:45:00 EST. Capcom has confirmed that <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a> has been <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/street-fighter-hd-delayed-uk-psn">delayed</a> for the European PSN. There is currently no official release date for the title in the region and no explanation was given for the hold up. <br /><br />North America is still expected to get the title today with its special Tuesday edition of the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/psn-thursday">PSN update</a> (due to the Thanksgiving holiday). European Xbox 360 owners should still be able to pick up the game when it launches on XBLA tomorrow.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-10-21-08/">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (10/21/08)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-10-21-08/#1110108"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-10-21-08/#1110107"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-18_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-10-21-08/#1110106"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-10-21-08/#1110105"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-10-21-08/#1110104"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Via <a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/11/25/street-fighter-hd-without-a-release-date-in-europe/#comments">PS3 Fanboy</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/25/street-fighter-hd-delayed-for-european-psn/">Street Fighter HD delayed for European PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 Nov 2008 13:00:00 EST. At the 40-second mark in the above <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithdr/"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a> video, you might just experience a flashback to that time you wore your dad's bathrobe belt on your head, begged to take karate classes and ended up breaking your best friend's nose while attempting the crane kick. Although it appears to be missing its summer release window, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithdr/">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a></em> is apparently in the "home stretch" according to Rey Jimenez, the game's associate producer. <br /><br />In an interview with the <a href="http://streetfighterblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/street-fighter-blog-interviews-rey.html">Street Fighter Blog</a>, Jimenez explains that the title is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/08/street-fighter-ii-hd-beta-gets-bandaged/">"closing out all the bugs" from the open beta</a> and "other open issues." He believes that "barring any unforeseen catastrophic event," the game should be out this year. Given how jam-packed this holiday season is already, maybe a delay wouldn't be so "catastrophic" at this point.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2008/09/15/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-still-lives-still-coming-out-this-year/">Siliconera</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/16/super-street-fighter-ii-thdr-on-track-for-2008/">Super Street Fighter II THDR on track for 2008</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Sep 2008 12:00:00 EST. The <span style="font-style: italic;">Super Street Fighter II Turbo Hyper Deluxe Your Mom HD Remix</span> beta <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/25/super-street-fighter-insert-rest-here-beta-begins-today/">started yesterday</a> and, for those who just can't bring themselves to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-beta-starts-june-25/">buy <span style="font-style: italic;">Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</span></a>, we've placed some videos of what the beta looks like after the break. Although we received numerous complaints yesterday that the beta wasn't working properly, this seems a good a time as any to link the definition: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#Beta">Beta</a>. For those who are playing the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithd/" style="font-style: italic;">SSFIITHDR</a> beta -- and actually have it working properly -- what do you think?<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/26/check-out-video-of-street-fighter-ii-hd-xbla-beta/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Check out video of Street Fighter II HD XBLA beta</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/26/check-out-video-of-street-fighter-ii-hd-xbla-beta/">Check out video of Street Fighter II HD XBLA beta</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Jun 2008 10:15:00 EST. Just in case you've completely forgotten why you <em>really</em> bought <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/commando-3/">Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</a></em> on Xbox Live Arcade in the first place, allow us to jog your memory: the <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em> beta <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-beta-starts-june-25/">begins today</a>. To access the beta, owners of <em>Commando 3</em> should select the "SFII HD Remix Beta" option from the game's main menu, which will take them to a blade where they confirm the download. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithd/"><em>SSFIITHDR</em></a> beta will reside in the demo section of the games blade.<br /><br />The beta will give players the option of using only Ken or Ryu in various online modes or in local two-player matches. Remember, this is a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#Beta"><em>beta</em></a>, so the actual purpose of it is to stress-test the network code for the multiplayer modes of the game. The beta will run until around August 20 or whenever Capcom decides to pull the plug. Don't worry, you'll probably get bored of Ken and Ryu by then.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/25/super-street-fighter-insert-rest-here-beta-begins-today/">Super Street Fighter II XBLA beta begins today</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Jun 2008 01:00:00 EST. We'll be honest, at this point we wish <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithd/">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a> </em>would finally release just so we never have to double-check that we spelled the title's name correctly again, but we still have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/street-fighter-ii-hd-beta-bundled-with-commando-3/">this beta to get through</a>. The <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/1291">Capcom Blog</a> says the beta will begin June 25 and can only be accessed by purchasing the Xbox 360 version of <em>Commando 3</em>, which <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/09/this-wednesday-commando-3-and-frogger-2-hop-onto-xbla/">released today on XBLA</a>.<br /><br />On June 25, owners of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/commando-3/"><em>Commando 3</em></a> will gain entry to the <em>SSFIITHDR</em> portion of the menu, which will take them to an XBL blade where they can download the beta. Capcom reiterates that the beta is unfortunately only available on Xbox 360 and not PS3. The release of <em>SSFIITHDRWTFGTFOBBQ</em> simply can't come fast enough.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/06/11/capcom-ssfiithdr-beta-will-begin-june-25th/">X3F</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-beta-starts-june-25/">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta starts June 25</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jun 2008 19:30:00 EST. No, you probably haven't. Don't feel bad, neither had we. But once we saw <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/544">this interesting look</a> at how Capcom is cleaning up movements for their <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Super%20Street%20Fighter%20II%20HD%20Remix">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a></em>, we felt like we gained a new appreciation for the intricacies of animation.<br /><br />Take, for example, the fact that some characters in <em>Super Street Fighter II</em> had motion blur while characters from <em>Street Fighter</em> <em>II</em> didn't? Isn't that fascinating? Hello? ... OK, so we admit this sort of "inside the sausage factory" stuff isn't for every one. But if you're a fan of the series, you'll want to take a look.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/go-behind-the-scenes-of-street-fighter-animations/">Go behind the scenes of Street Fighter animations</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Nov 2007 13:58:00 EST. Putting out a bunch of really sexy, high-def images of your characters is a great start. Following it up with great pictures of stages is just as good. But when things are going that well, don't let your first video be an ugly, poorly-lit shaky cam clip.<br /><br />Here's a thought: What about capturing from the actual game? Sure, it's a few more wires to plug in, but isn't it worth it? See, when the whole point of your game is that it looks purty, you probably want a video that makes it look ... you know ... purty. As far as what we can see in this clip ... well, it looks like <em>Street Fighter.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/19/first-super-street-fighter-ii-hd-remix-video-is-underwhelming/">First Super Street Fighter II HD Remix video is underwhelming</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 19 Oct 2007 14:15:00 EST. Capcom announced ballpark dates and prices to go with some of the downloadable titles they plan to offer on Xbox Live Arcade, PSN and PC in the next half-year. The details were given in London, so to ere on the side of caution, we're going to call these Euro details until further notice -- we doubt that's the truth, but a little caution never hurts. The games are:<br />
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/capcom-brings-rocketmen-and-talisman-to-xbla-and-psn/"><em>Rocketmen: Axis of Evil</em></a> -- Holiday '07 (XBLA 800 MS Points ($10), PSN $10)</li>
    <li><em>Commando 3</em> -- December '07 (XBLA 800 MS Points ($10), PSN $10)</li>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/capcom-brings-rocketmen-and-talisman-to-xbla-and-psn/"><em>Talisman</em></a> -- April '08</li>
    <li><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithd/"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a> -- Q1 '08, but actually "<a href="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3163805">when it's ready</a>."</li>
</ul>
Capcom also said that (seriously these long titles need to stop) <em>Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em> on PS3 will be available on PSN "soon" and "global headset support" will launch with the European version. Now if we could just <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/19/first-super-street-fighter-ii-hd-remix-video-is-underwhelming/">get a better video</a> of <em>SSFIITHDR</em> we might understand what's taking so long for the prettified update.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/19/capcom-dates-some-downloadables-games-in-development/">Capcom dates some downloadable games in development</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 19 Oct 2007 13:15:00 EST. It's been a long time since we've seen new characters from <span style="font-style: italic;">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</span>, but today we've got Cammy above and M. Bison after the break. This all comes on the heels of Capcom asking for people to submit their vote in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/14/street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-achievement-poll/">Achievement Poll</a> for the game. <br /><br />There really isn't much to say on this art except that if you could please stop staring at Cammy's crotch for five seconds and finish the story you'll notice that we've got this neat little link here to all our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithd/">previous coverage</a>. Still no word on a release date, but apparently the <a href="http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/digital.php/2007/09/26/p508#more508">online development</a> is coming along fine.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/09/27/ssfiithdr-sprite-watch-cammy-and-m-bison/">X3F</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/27/cammy-see-more-ssfiithdr-characters/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>'Cammy' see more SSFIITHDR characters?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/27/cammy-see-more-ssfiithdr-characters/">'Cammy' see more SSFIITHDR characters?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 Sep 2007 17:45:00 EST. The polls are now open at the Capcom blog to vote for the <em>Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em> achievements. Like we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/23/super-sf-ii-turbo-hd-remix-achievement-open-call/">reported back in July</a>, Capcom asked for suggestions on what the achievements should be in <em>SFIITHDR</em>. It appears Capcom <a href="http://www.capcom.com/BBS/showthread.php?t=18899">chose seven suggestions</a> and posted them for the world to vote on (with proper registration at the Capcom site). The possible achievements are:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Beat Akuma (arcade mode)</li>
    <li>Win with every character in an Online Ranked Match</li>
    <li>5 Perfect Rounds in Ranked Online Matches</li>
    <li>5 Perfect Rounds in Story Mode (Any Difficulty Level)</li>
    <li>Defeat an opponent in under 15(?) seconds, Arcade Mode</li>
    <li>Perform a 7-hit combo or higher (any mode, including training)</li>
    <li>Defeat Sagat with Ryu's fierce dragon punch (any mode)</li>
</ul>
We kinda like all of them, hopefully beyond this publicity stunt Capcom may keep them all in. Capcom is also taking suggestions at the site for the achievements' actual names. With any luck they'll sprinkle some inside joke achievements in for the hardcore. So far this game really has done a great job with the <a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2007/07/19/ps3-fanboy-interview-udon-comics-and-street-fighter/">community outreach</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/14/street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-achievement-poll/">Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix achievement poll</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Sep 2007 17:15:00 EST. [Update: Capcom has posted a <a href="http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/digital.php/2007/08/27/art_revision" target="_blank">revised image</a> of this stage.]<br /><br />Capcom has released the first glimpse of a turbo-high-def-remixed <em>Super Street Fighter II</em> stage, <strike>Mike Bison's</strike> Balrog's Las Vegas strip, now saturated with bright purples. Background historians will also notice that the crowd has been scaled back from the original version, apparently to cut down on animations, in turn, decreasing the game size. Other modernization efforts bring bigger busts and an Escalade limo (thankfully, a pimp hat is still just a pimp hat). Most noticeably, the old Golden Nugget casino has been bulldozed, making way for <a target="_blank" href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithd"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix's</em></a> Crazy Buffalo; named in honor of one of Balrog's signatures.<br /><br />Producer Rey Jimenez also fills us in on a new game mode, call it "<em>re-balanced</em> mode" for now. The optional mode is being designed with input from tourney players, but Jimenez doesn't elaborate further. Expect it to make the final version of the game as long as it doesn't "totally break" the gameplay.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/24/first-ssf2thdr-stage-unveiled-vegas-baby/">First SSF2THDR stage unveiled: Vegas, baby</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Aug 2007 12:57:00 EST. <div align="left">Capcom is looking for your input into what the achievements should be for the Xbox 360 version of <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em> - did we get the whole title in there? Capcom wants you to put your <a href="http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/digital.php/2007/07/23/you_decide_achievements">suggestions in the comment thread of their post on the issue</a>. You can feel free to make suggestions below too, but we're not forwarding them to Capcom.<br /><br />Of course, hardcore <em>Street Fighter II</em> players looking forward to <a href="http://ssfiithd"><em>SSFIITHDR</em></a> are making suggestions like getting five perfects in a row or having a five to eight chain combo. We're still looking to achieve basic things like Zangief's pile driver, or for those seeking an even more basic achievement - just pull off a shoryuken. Capcom says they'll take the suggestions on August 1st and start sifting through them, then they'll take the ones that are actually technologically possible and send it back out to the community for voting. Come on shoryuken achievement!</div>

If you've caught yourself staring, mouth agape, at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/UDON/">UDON</a>'s gorgeous re-imaginings of classic Street Fighter II characters, being prepared for the XBLA and PSN release of <a href="http://ssfiithd">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a>, know that you're not alone. Our buds at PS3 Fanboy spoke with Jim Zubkavich, Artist and Project Manager at UDON, about their pixelicious collaboration with Capcom. A snippet: "The game is an exact port of <em>SSF2T</em>, so the hit boxes and poses must be identical, even while the detail and resolution are increased to approximately 4.5 times the original. Along with character sprite designs, we're redrawing and painting each stage background to match the enhanced resolution."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/20/ps3-fanboy-interviews-udon-about-super-street-fighter-ii-hd-remi/">PS3 Fanboy interviews UDON about Super Street Fighter II HD Remix</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Jul 2007 14:15:00 EST. The Capcom blog finally gave us a taste of what Chun Li will look like in the upcoming <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em>. Do they show us happy Chun Li, angry Chun Li or fighting Chun Li? No, they show us crying I-just-got-the-stuffing-beat-out-of-me Chun Li. <a href="http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/digital.php/2007/06/22/poor_chun_li">Poor girl</a>. The image hasn't been colored in yet and wherever you see blotches, that'll be filled in with the crimson color of her blood. Obviously, this is the animation for the continue screen.<br /><br />Kinda stinks that the first image we see showing one of the strong ladies from <em>SSFIITHDROMGSRSLY </em>has to be one of her all abused. Show us Chun Li thigh, that's her strongest feature! All the guys we've seen were portrayed all macho in fighting poses. So far we've seen <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/01/kens-looking-good-for-new-hd-street-fighter-ii/">Ken</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/08/akuma-matata-street-fighter-hd-shows-off-new-character/">Akuma</a>, then last week we saw <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/16/the-guile-to-show-ssfiithdromg/">Guile, with his controversial backwards American flag</a>. One of the developers for the game says, "Guile's flags tattoos are not backwards. Well technically they are, but it depends on which way the character is facing. Because the old code flips the character art depending on which way the character is facing, it was like this before but just not as noticeable." We're pretty sure that violates some rule about the flag. Yeah, the <a href="http://www.bcpl.net/~etowner/flagcode.html">US flag has rules</a>. Maybe we'll get a non-Frank Miller <em>Sin City</em> version of Chun Li next?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/23/chun-li-cries-the-pain-of-loss-away/">Chun Li cries the pain of loss away</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 23 Jun 2007 15:00:00 EST. Capcom continues its <a href="http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/digital.php/2007/06/15/first_guile_art">morphine drip</a> of showing off a character per week from <span style="font-style: italic;">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</span> for XBLA and PSN. This weeks character is Guile, the master of the flat-top. This follows the releases of both <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/08/akuma-matata-street-fighter-hd-shows-off-new-character/">Akuma</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/01/kens-looking-good-for-new-hd-street-fighter-ii/">Ken</a> over the last couple weeks. Capcom swears the images are what the characters will look like in the game and says we'll all be impressed when we see them in motion. <br />Last week Capcom showed off another character sprite for their upcoming (here we go again with the title) <span style="font-style: italic;">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</span> , or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-for-xbla-announced/"><span style="font-style: italic;">SSFIITHDR</span>,</a> for XBLA and PSN. Capcom swears that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/01/kens-looking-good-for-new-hd-street-fighter-ii/">Ken model</a> is how he'll look in the game and we really can't wait to see him in motion. This week, to give a better comparison, Capcom is showing off Akuma in his <a href="http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/digital.php/2007/06/07/p315#more315">original and redone versions</a> for a clearer comparison. And they still swear this is how he'll look in the game.<br /><br />If you <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akuma_(Street_Fighter)">don't know who Akuma is</a>, don't feel bad, he was a secret character until <span style="font-style: italic;">Street Fighter Alpha 2</span> and was only a secret boss in <span style="font-style: italic;">Super Street Fighter II Turbo</span> -- perhaps not the best character to choose on this little promo leakfest that Capcom is doing. Capcom is now asking what character you'd like to see next. Us? We'd like to ask for a character in a comparison shot that we actually know well. It might be nice to see Chun-Li's upcoming HD curves on those thunder thighs of hers.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/08/akuma-matata-street-fighter-hd-shows-off-new-character/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Akuma-matata, Street Fighter HD shows off new character</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/08/akuma-matata-street-fighter-hd-shows-off-new-character/">Akuma-matata, Street Fighter HD shows off new character</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Jun 2007 12:25:00 EST. <br />This is Ken, you may recognize him from such games as ... well, almost every version of <em>Street Fighter</em> ever. Capcom <a href="http://www.capcom.com/BBS/showthread.php?t=14467">released</a> this image of how Ken will look in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-for-xbla-announced/">upcoming</a> <em>Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em> for XBLA and PSN. Anybody who purchased the other <em>Street Fighter II</em> game on XBLA feel ripped off? Yeah, us too.<br /><br />The new look is thanks to Udon Comics and we can't wait to see this thing in motion. Capcom will be releasing new images of the re-drawn sprites over time leading up to the release of <em>SFIITHDR</em> at some indeterminate point in the future. We have no doubt that this game is going to be gorgeous, we're just hoping the controls feel "right" using the Xbox 360 and PS3 controller.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/05/31/new-sfii-hd-remix-sprite-revealed-its-ken/">Xbox360Fanboy</a>, Thanks Jared]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/01/kens-looking-good-for-new-hd-street-fighter-ii/">Ken's looking good for new HD Street Fighter II</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 Jun 2007 14:45:00 EST. While the arrival of HDTV has generally been a boon to the game industry, it's definitely caused headaches for at least one shrinking but still important sector of the industry -- 2D sprite artists. As the <a href="http://www.racketboy.com/retro/2007/04/super-street-fighter-2-turbo-hd-big-sprites.html">above illustration</a> of the Ryu sprite for the upcoming <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-for-xbla-announced/">Street Fighter II HD Remix</a></em> shows, drawing good-looking 2D characters in HD requires a lot more attention to detail than the old standard-resolution sprites.<br /><br />This problem is not exclusive to Capcom. <em>Castlevania</em> designer Koji Igarishi <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/13/castlevanias-koji-igarashi-2d-games-will-never-die/">remarked at GDC</a> on the labor involved in creating high resolution 2D art and SNK President Ben Herman lamented in an <a href="http://wii.ign.com/articles/781/781316p1.html">IGN interview</a> that bringing the company's fighters to the 360 and PS3 would require artists to "re-draw every single older game."<br /><br />The extra work leads to extra benefits, though, as the sleek new Ryu above clearly demonstrates. Still, the proof will be seeing these beautiful high-def drawings come to life. All the graphical fidelity in the world doesn't matter if the animation is on par with <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Animated-Adventures-Haunted/dp/B0002YCUQ6">Star Wars Adventures</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/20/2d-sprites-get-massive-for-the-hd-generation/">2D sprites get massive for the HD generation</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Apr 2007 11:15:00 EST. A high octane, extremely offense-minded fighter, how is it that Capcom plans to improve upon perfection? By bringing in the comic masterminds at <a href="http://streetfightercomics.com/">UDON</a> to redraw the entire game, pixel-for-pixel.<br /><br /><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em> (wow <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/super-puzzle-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-for-xbla-unveiled/">again</a>) for Xbox Live Arcade and PSN mirrors the same tactic Capcom utilized with their <a href="http://www.xbox360.joystiq.com/2006/02/18/hands-on-with-street-fighter-ii-hf-for-360/"><em>Hyper Fighting</em></a> release - the goods you remember, only with online play. This time, however, Capcom is taking care of business in-house and utilizing the insight that 13 years of worldwide, top-tier competition has brought to the game. <br /><br />While <em>SSF2T HD</em> is a pixel-for-pixel recreation of the game, they aren't ruling out making slight changes to the game. It will be lost on the average player, but when the faithful get a load of the slight but sexy frame tweaks, they'll freak out. And they will love it. <br /><br />Capcom didn't have anything to show on the project, but they did say that the entirety of the game is being redrawn, from the character select, all the way through to backgrounds and endings. While it would be heaven in a download if they could also work in the original <em>SSF2T</em>, it is something they are currently considering. Capcom is aiming for a release this Fall.<br /><br />[Update - If you were interested in seeing just how super this remix is, the folks at GameKult snapped a picture of the <a href="http://www.gamekult.com/images/ME0000818216/">presentation slide</a> during the announcement.
