That way, you don't have to awkwardly support the whole weight of the system with your left hand while aiming with your right.<br /><br />The motivation may be unfortunate, but the accessory itself is quite nice, securely holding the 3DS in place when in use -- with rubber pads to keep the system from sliding around -- and folding flat when not. See for yourself in our gallery. <em>Kid Icarus: Uprising</em> (and this stand) arrive in North America this Friday.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/kid-icarus-uprising-stand/">Kid Icarus: Uprising (Stand)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/kid-icarus-uprising-stand/#4904854"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/kidicarusstand3192_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/kid-icarus-uprising-stand/#4904855"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/kidicarusstand3194_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/kid-icarus-uprising-stand/#4904858"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/kidicarusstand3196_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/kid-icarus-uprising-stand/#4904860"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/kidicarusstand3197_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/kid-icarus-uprising-stand/#4904863"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/kidicarusstand3199_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/19/kid-icarus-uprisings-3ds-stand-holds-up-to-scrutiny/">Kid Icarus: Uprising's 3DS stand holds up to scrutiny</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Mar 2012 17:30:00 EST. 	<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/12/japanese-release-of-kid-icarus-uprising-stays-put-with-bundled/"><img border="1" hspace="4" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/01/kidicarus112.jpg" vspace="4" /></a></center>
When I <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/09/kid-icarus-uprising-multiplayer-preview-pitted-against-friends/">played</a> <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/kid-icarus-uprising"><em>Kid Icarus: Uprising</em></a> at E3, I called the circle-pad/stylus-based controls "unwieldy" and "basically only possible if you've put the 3DS on some kind of stand." (I'm going to pretend) Nintendo was listening, as creator Masahiro Sakurai has revealed a stand peripheral, to be bundled with the Japanese release of the game. "Touching the screen works better if it's secured," he said (roughly translated).<br />
<br />
Nintendo has yet to make an announcement regarding the stand's inclusion with the American or European versions of the game, but given that this stand was designed to solve an identifiable problem, we'd be very surprised if any region left it out.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> And we remain unsurprised! Nintendo tells <a href="http://www.1up.com/news/kid-icarus-uprising-plastic-3ds-stand">1UP</a> the stand will be included with all copies of the game, not just in Japan.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/12/japanese-release-of-kid-icarus-uprising-stays-put-with-bundled/">Kid Icarus: Uprising stays put with bundled stand [update: coming to all regions]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Jan 2012 10:00:00 EST. We are <em>deadly serious</em> here: as far as we can ascertain, playing the game on your other individual masonry units is safe.</p>
<p>This advice is brought to you by the <em>Slide Adventure: Mag Kid </em>instruction manual, which also recommends you don't play the game atop a grand piano, and avoid pointing the slide sensor's laser directly at your eyeballs. Play Asia has the <a href="http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-19-49-en-15-yatterman+touch+pen.html">sets in stock</a> for a cheap $5.99, but we passed on the deal, realizing that we had no idea what a <span style="font-style: italic;">Yatterman</span> is or why we would want it on a stylus! Apparently, it's an anime remake of a late-70's Japanese show?<br /> <br /> We went searching for some stylus-and-stand alternatives, and, wouldn't you know it, we found out that Toytech has a whole line of interesting accessories with more recognizable characters. When we last <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/01/hori-charge-stand-is-style-over-substance-just-our-thing/">previewed this accessory</a>, Play Asia had put up a product page promising to deliver the stylish dock to your doorstep for $16.90 (plus $5.90 s/h) once it debuted in Japan this month. <br /><br />Checking the online import shop earlier today, we spotted a pair of notable details, bad news and good news, if you will:.<br />
<ul>
    <li>Bad news: The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/charger">charging base's</a> shipping date has been moved to May</li>
    <li>Good news: There is now a listing for the White DS Lite Charge Stand bearing a US flag, scheduled for June and priced at $14.99. </li>
</ul>
Is Hori's North American arm planning to bring the dock to the states as it has with many of the company's other DS accessories? If so, it might worth waiting an extra month to pick up the Charge Stand at a local store for a few bucks less. Hit the gallery below for glamour shots of the White and Black models. <br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/06/hori-charge-stand-delayed-coming-to-america/">Hori Charge Stand delayed, coming to America?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 May 2008 22:35:00 EST. <div align="left">Looking for <em>the most flamboyant way possible</em> to keep your Wiimotes, Nunchuks and a Classic Controller tidily put away? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/cyber-gadget">CYBER Gadget</a>'s CYBER Remocon &amp; Nunchuk Stand may be for you -- after you throw some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/02/diy-mod-adds-some-awesome-pulsating-lights-to-the-wii/">LEDs</a> in there, of course. The stand features two rubber-grippy slots for Wii Remotes, flanking stands for Nunchuks, and even a slot in the back for a single Classic. It includes velcro cable ties for the connectors on the Nunchuks and Classic Controller, and even has sockets in the back to plug the controllers into as a form of cord management.<br /><br />It kind of looks like it should <em>charge</em> the controllers, doesn't it? Well, it doesn't. Unless maybe it <em>charges </em>them with the prestige of such a prominent display. (It doesn't.) We like the idea of keeping our stuff off the floor, however.<br /></div>

This blogger doesn't. Why pay for something that <em>your hands</em> can do equally well? Alas, it looks like I'm in a minority, because companies keep churning the damn things out. <em>Somebody</em> out there is buying them, and no doubt somebody out there will lay down $30 for this 12-inch PVC Super Mario stand. Madness.*<br /><br />Even if yours truly <em>was </em>a fan of stands, it would be a struggle to recommend this, mainly because rival <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/stand/">stands</a> offer so much more on the features front, such as the ability to charge your DS (like the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/01/hori-charge-stand-is-style-over-substance-just-our-thing/">Hori Charge Stand</a>), or the ability to play your DS while on its stand (see: Hori's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/26/taiko-stand-master/"><em>Taiko no Tatsujin</em></a> model). That minimalist <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/20/new-ds-lite-stand-is-bendy/">bendy DS stand</a> from last year still comes across as the most sensible purchase.<br /><br />* <em>I fully reserve the right to entirely backtrack on this paragraph and squeal like a schoolgirl if anybody ever makes an </em><em>Animal Crossing: Wild World</em> <em>stand.</em><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=36668">Go Nintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/29/do-you-trust-marios-grip/">Do you trust Mario's grip?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 29 Feb 2008 16:00:00 EST. We don't own <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/11/cooking-navi-for-the-stuff-you-really-want-to-eat/"><em>Cooking Navi</em></a> and playing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/eba"><em>Elite Beat Agents</em></a> (or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ouendan"><em>Ouendan</em></a>) can be accomplished fairly easily by holding the DS with one of our hands and playing with the other. Then, we get an eye full of Hori's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/26/taiko-stand-master/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Taiko no Tatsujin</span> stand</a> and immediately felt the need to get one.<br /><br />We can't imagine what we'd use it for, so we figured we'd ask you! Who better to let us know the many uses of a DS stand than the fine folks who've been using one for awhile now. So, tell us how your DS rocks its stand.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/27/ds-daily-taking-a-stand/">DS Daily: taking a stand</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 27 Feb 2008 09:00:00 EST. The adjustable platform comes in red and has two holders for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/06/taiko-stylus-giveaway-reveals-control-method/">drumstick styli</a> that come with every copy of the original game. Also included in the kit is an adorable screen wipe <br /><br />The bundle may or may not also come packaged with the attachable banner of cheering characters -- we haven't decided yet if this would be distractingly goofy or <span style="font-style: italic;">awesome to the max</span>. <br /><br />Japan has already seen one <span style="font-style: italic;">Taiko</span> DS title release and has another coming, whereas every other country's DSes have been so far <span style="font-style: italic;">Taiko</span>-less. Thus, it's safe to assume that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hori">Hori's</a> accessory won't appear in North American stores any time soon. Import shop Play-Asia, however, has the stand available for preorder (due April) for $19.90. <br />Hori's USB Illumination Stand -- available in black and white -- seems straightforward, lighting up your Wii with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/LED/">LEDs</a> as it siphons power off the console. But what's with the $19.90 price tag at <a href="http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-10v-49-en-70-23ba.html">Play Asia</a> ($22.90 on <a href="http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/HWI-14.html">NCSX</a>), and why is that extra cord in the back also plugged into one of the system's two <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/USB/">USB</a> ports? Though you can't tell just by looking at it, the front flap of the base opens up to reveal a USB port powered by that extra hook-up. <br /><br />With the port conveniently positioned on the front, you can plug in a USB <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/keyboard">keyboard</a> or, one day, an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=hard+drive&amp;searchsubmit=">external drive</a> without having to mess with the tangle of wires in the back. You can see a close-up of the hidden port and another shot of the base after the break.<br /><br />See also: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/21/put-your-wii-on-a-new-pedestal/">Put your Wii on a new pedestal</a><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/24/hori-takes-a-stand-and-puts-leds-in-it/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hori takes a stand (and puts LEDs in it)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/24/hori-takes-a-stand-and-puts-leds-in-it/">Hori takes a stand (and puts LEDs in it)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Dec 2007 16:00:00 EST. It's been awhile since we saw a new entry to the PlayStaiton Signature series. This over-priced luxury line of PlayStation accessories will break the bank (and minds!) of many. A clear plastic stand, used to display your PSP was just added for the price of &yen;2,200 (~$20). A bit much for a piece of plastic, no?<br /><br />Admittedly, it does look quite nice, and if we had money to burn, we'd easily go for it. Would you?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/pspcell/diary/200711060000/">PSP GadgetZ</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/06/plastic-psp-stand-joins-signature-lineup/">Plastic PSP stand joins Signature lineup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Nov 2007 18:30:00 EST. <br />Adding color to your console no longer means you'll have to void your warranty by breaking it open. While more <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/10/i-case-spring-fashion-show/">complicated</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/06/shockii-wii-case-replacement-prototype-photos/">mods</a> have you pulling off panels to replace the Wii's shell, GT Coupe's "crystal clear cases" -- available in blue, pink, green, white, and black -- allow you to just slip the system into the plastic housing for the desired hue. Each case come with a blue-<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/led">LED</a>-lined, cooling-<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fan">fan</a>-equipped stand to accommodate your refitted console.<br /><br />DealExtreme lists the Dazzle Colorful and Luxury Kit at about $30, but only has the pink case in stock. You can find the other colors for much cheaper ($22) if you're willing to make your purchase <a href="http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&amp;_trksid=m37&amp;satitle=+Dazzle+colorful+Wii+&amp;category0=">through eBay</a>. But you can <em>tilt</em> it to your heart's content for that perfect angle, and it's probably sturdier than the (awesome) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/20/new-ds-lite-stand-is-bendy/">bendy stand</a> we're so fond of. You can change the orientation as well, so you can switch from a regular game to something like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/12/e307-brain-age-2-is-looking-better-all-the-time/"><em>Brain Age 2</em></a>. It keeps going as well, just in case you feel the urge to play <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/20/ds-daily-masochism/"><em>upside down</em></a>. At only &yen;1480, or less than thirteen US dollars, even with shipping costs it still seems like a deal for non-Japanese gamers.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/31/spin-your-lite-round-and-round/">Spin your Lite 'round and 'round</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 31 Jul 2007 16:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/08/because-two-strange-new-forms-of-input-just-werent-enough/"><em>Slide Adventure Mag Kid</em></a> was a game about which we knew nothing at all but the control method. That was enough-- it's a special <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/05/ds-daily-stand-in-the-place-where-you-game/">stand</a>/controller that attaches to your DS and reads movement as you slide the whole thing around. In this video, you can get a glimpse of not only the controller, but the <em>actual game</em>, which casts you as a segmented caterpillar-type creature exploring a house.<br /><br />You're still going to have to wait for a jumping, bump-hitting, dive-taking peripheral before there's even a chance of that <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PQH741svy4"><em>Crocodile Mile</em></a> game you've always dreamed of.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/25/slide-adventure-mag-kid-video-slips-into-view/">Slide Adventure Mag Kid video slips into view</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Jul 2007 09:50:00 EST. A distant third possibility, that you feel a strong desire to stretch your face at your DS, would supercede the first two. We would <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/05/ds-daily-stand-in-the-place-where-you-game/">enjoy</a> a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/17/dynasty-warriors-ds-romance-of-the-three-accessories/">DS</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/28/ds-lite-magnet-stand-for-a-healthier-you/">Lite</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/20/new-ds-lite-stand-is-bendy/">stand</a>, and we <em>hope</em> we'd have a use for the camera, so it's not <em>inconceivable</em> that we'd consider this a deal worth looking into.<br /><br />Play Asia is taking preorders for the game at $48.90, which is their normal asking price for a Japanese DS game. That's not too bad for a camera, a stand, and (ahem) miscellaneous bonus content. We hope it's within range for a few <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/homebrew">homebrew</a> developers, at least.<br /><br />Of course, its regular-priced-ness in Japan means that if, by some clerical error, <em>Adults' DS Face Training</em> somehow came out in the US, it would be regular US price of $30-$35. Don't hold your breath on that one-- although it may be good for your face to puff out your cheeks like you're pretending to hold your breath.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/13/face-trainings-price-causes-us-to-make-a-thoughtful-face/">Face Training's price causes us to make a thoughtful face</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Jul 2007 09:50:00 EST. If his doleful eyes and floppy ears become too much for your frail heart to take in, you could always drop another snapshot into the picture frame instead, but you'd first have to endure the pitiful whines of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puppy">puppy</a> who's been punished unjustly.<br /><br />The fused <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dock/">dock</a> and photo stand is available at select Japanese retailers for about 1,420 yen (approximately $11.50), offered in white, navy blue, light blue, pink, and black variations. Interestingly, the charging stand uses the DS Lite's adapter for power, rather than its own proprietary plug. Check past the post break, empty leash in hand, for a comparison image of the cradle's various colors.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/07/a-ds-lite-dock-and-a-photo-of-a-depressed-dog/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>A DS Lite dock and a photo of a depressed dog</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/07/a-ds-lite-dock-and-a-photo-of-a-depressed-dog/">A DS Lite dock and a photo of a depressed dog</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 07 Jul 2007 18:00:00 EST. We admit, it's something we've thought about, but haven't gotten around to (there are so many games to buy instead!), but there are more of you than there are of us, so certainly (maybe!) someone has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/28/ds-lite-magnet-stand-for-a-healthier-you/">one</a>. If not, have you also <a href="http://dsfanboy.com/tag/dsd">given it some thought</a>? What kind of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/07/ds-lite-stand-video-review/">stand</a> would you like? We can definitely see the benefit for stylus-only games.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/05/ds-daily-stand-in-the-place-where-you-game/">DS Daily: Stand in the place where you game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Jul 2007 09:00:00 EST. Taking more into account than just bundling battery covers and rechargeable AAA batteries, the cradle has every feature we're looking for in a budget solution -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/usb">USB</a> adapter, unobtrusive design, room to charge two controllers simultaneously, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/led">LED</a> status indicators.<br /><br />Play-Asia has the charging station listed for $14.90 ($6.70 s/h), while eBay auctions have it priced a few dollars higher. To compare, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/11/checking-out-the-nyko-charge-station/">Nyko's dock</a> sells for about $30. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/usb">USB</a>-powered base has a built-in "high-velocity" fan to keep your console's temperature low and an LED glow that'll color your living room walls an electric blue. If you squint and straddle one of your couch's arms like a bike, it'll almost feel like you're riding through <em>Tron</em> on a lightcycle.<br /><br />We're still not convinced that the Wii needs a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/08/does-the-wii-even-get-so-hot-as-to-need-a-cooling-fan/">cooling fan</a>, but some gamers will look for any excuse to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/led">light up their hardware</a>. Priced at nineteen dollars though, the product doesn't even automatically turn on after detecting high temperatures. Instead, users have to manually hit an unmarked switch behind the stand. Cobra Command, the once-feared terror outfit that brought nations to their knees, has all but abandoned its plans of total world domination, favoring the sales of cheap <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/peripherals/">Wii accessories</a> in their stead. Gone are the days of Weather Dominators, Synthoids, and dozens of other harebrained schemes plotted by incompetent-but-endlessly-entertaining villains. To take their place, we have an adjustable stand for your Wii <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sensorbar">sensor bar</a> selling for only $9.99.<br /><br />Distributed by dummy corporation Dragon, the Cobra Stand can twist and turn to position your sensor bar however you want. The suction cup on its base sticks to even the most slippery surfaces (or the most <em>slithery</em>! Har har har!). We've got some photo instructions on how to use this contraption, but that's not all! Blue lights are <em>reasonably pimpin',</em> but by adding multicolored lights to the bottom of this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/stand/">stand</a>, this guy's Wii has reached super-pimptastic levels of pimpitude never seen before on this or any console.<br /><br />Actually, this is more psychedelic-looking than pimped-out, but we think the use of the verb "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHt3QVRUpBA">pimp</a>" (in its "decorating" sense) is hilarious. Or, alternately, for people who frequently trip over their systems in the dark.<br /><br />However, the classy, functional blue light is not the only feature of this stand! It stores your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wiimote">Wiimote</a> and recharges batteries through the Wii's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/usb">USB</a> connection. It also has a cooling fan built in! We haven't heard if anyone's having heat issues, but it happens to all the other consoles, so it's entirely possible.<br /><br />Looking at it kind of makes us want to install a subwoofer or a rear spoiler on our system. Unfortunately, we haven't heard of any Wii-size spoilers, and we also don't have any retail information for this stand yet, so we can't tell you where to buy one.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/06/new-wii-charger-has-underbody-neon/">New Wiimote charger has underbody neon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Apr 2007 20:25:00 EST. This time, it's the Taore na Sheet W (Collapsing Sheet W): a set of adhesive rubber feet that secure your Wii stand and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sensor">sensor</a> bar to their locations, and, just to be sure, secure the Wii to its stand.<br /><br />With no <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/controller/">controller</a> cords to trip over, we had to think about who the target audience for this product was. We were so, so wrong. It turns out we were just waiting for this one to come along and make our DS look more like an <a href="http://www.ikea.com">IKEA</a> lamp. Where those other stands use <em>ridiculous</em> hinges and rectangular bases to sit on your table*, or magnets to stick to surfaces, the Game Stand Lite uses two real, proven scientific principles which naturally increase <em>awesomeness</em>:<br />
<ol>
    <li>a big bendy arm, and</li>
    <li>a suction cup</li>
</ol>
We don't think it comes with that transparent base, which is too bad. We like transparent things almost as much as we like bendy things. We do hope that suction cup is strong enough to stand up to the force of a few songs' worth of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/08/metareview-elite-beat-agents/">rhythm-action</a>.<br /><br />*Okay, so there's a hinged <a href="http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20070220/ggl12.htm">stand</a> in the linked <a href="http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/">GAME Watch</a> accessory roundup that's actually really nice, if significantly less bendy.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/20/new-ds-lite-stand-is-bendy/">New DS Lite stand is bendy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Feb 2007 14:00:00 EST. So far, it's been a solemn event that we've observed respectfully, thinking about how ugly DS games affect us all. But we've got marginally better news for you, so don't take down your traditional NGRRTK Day decorations. <a href="http://www.hori.jp/">Hori</a> have released some relatively nice DS accessories in a black-and-gold color scheme to tie into the release of Sega's new card-based arcade adaptation <em>Sangokushi Taisen DS</em>, including a stand, a DS card case, and a stylus. Sure, they're not totally new items-- the stand looks to be the same design as the one <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/07/ds-lite-stand-video-review/">reviewed by CheapyD</a>, but they're black, with <em>goooooolden eeeeemblems </em>on them.<br /><br />We like the blackness of this set, but we aren't sure about advertising any affiliation with<em> Sangokushi Taisen DS </em>or any other arcade-fad card games<em>.</em> Also, we like to keep our DS systems in our gentle, loving hands while we play, not relegated to a cold, unfeeling stand. It's a DS-fan thing; we have a very positive opinion on the concept of touching.<br /><br />[Update 1: fairly major; this set is NOT a tie-in to<em> Shin Sangoku Musou DS, </em>but to a VERY SIMILAR-LOOKING Sega card-battling game <em><a href="http://www.sangokushi-taisen.com/ds/">Sangokushi Taisen DS</a> </em>that also uses the classic Three Kingdoms story as its setting.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/17/dynasty-warriors-ds-romance-of-the-three-accessories/">Romance of the Three Accessories</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 17 Feb 2007 12:30:00 EST. We were dubious at first, but after watching this review, we've ordered one ourselves from <a href="http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-dy-49-en-70-1fpq.html">Play-Asia</a>, to the tune of fifteen bucks.<br /><br />This little sucker will make playing games with one hand a snap, and it also looks swanky as well. Cradle your DS Lite in some goodness, and wait patiently for the <em>SimCity DS</em> game to come out. It has the ability to hold the DS Lite horizontally and vertically, so basically any of your games will look sweet in its plastic and foam goodness.<br /><br />Nice work, CheapyD. This Wii-themed stand may be the answer you've been looking for. The white mini-tower holds twelve game, but is stackable, so that as you acquire more Wii games, you can just add another shelf. Genius! Now we just need to find someone in Japan who will ship a few over ... or we could just start painting shelves around the house. We wanted to know how most people played Wii. Would they choose to get up and be active in the game, or do they instead play more traditionally in a sitting position. We then thought we'd ask you all to vote in a poll so we, and you, could see what the majority of Wii Fanboy readers think. <br /><br /> <!-- // Begin Pollhost.com Poll Code // -->

After we presented the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/20/light-hearted-post-of-the-day-phoenix-wrong/">original trilogy of Phoenix Wrong</a> flash skits back in September, we promised ourselves we'd check every nineteen minutes for the impending fourth installment.
