Because, you see, he told Edge that <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/harada-tekken-will-never-have-paid-dlc-characters">no <em>Tekken</em> game will ever have DLC characters</a> at all.<br /><br />That's quite a pronouncement. He clarified that he doesn't have a problem with Capcom doing it, noting that their motives may be different from his. But Harada sees, he said, "the characters and their move sets as chess pieces - they are essential items necessary in the game and we would never sell any of those individually."<br /><br />That doesn't rule out DLC completely, as Harada added that vanity items that might be added to the game after the fact would likely come with a charge. Characters might also be added to a <em>Tekken</em> game in advance as pre-order incentives, as long as they could eventually be unlocked by all players in the game. But as for after-the-fact characters, you won't find any of those in <em>Tekken x Street Fighter</em> if Harada has his way.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/17/tekken-producer-harada-no-dlc-characters-for-us/">Tekken producer Harada: No DLC characters for us</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 Apr 2012 15:30:00 EST. Capcom said <em>Asura's Wrath</em> will be getting several "substantial" DLC packs, two of which are "anime-inspired" episodes that will provide insight into the main game's story. We think Capcom is being humble here; not only do these particular installments look to be inspired by anime, they're rendered in full-blown, traditional Japanese-cartoon style.<br /><br />We caught wind previously of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/17/asura-takes-his-wrath-out-on-ryu-in-upcoming-dlc/">another DLC installment</a> involving a <em>Street Fighter</em>/<em>Asura's Wrath</em> crossover, and Capcom confirmed players will get to battle Ryu and as-yet unannounced Street Fighter characters, in classic, non-anime 3D. No word yet on release dates or pricing.<br /><br />Check out the "DLC-inspired" screens below:<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/asuras-wrath-2-21-12/">Asura's Wrath (2/21/12)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/asuras-wrath-2-21-12/#4833268"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/asuraswrathryuvsakurabmpjpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/asuras-wrath-2-21-12/#4833269"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/asuraswrathscreenshot001bmpjpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/asuras-wrath-2-21-12/#4833270"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/asuraswrathscreenshot002bmpjpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/asuras-wrath-2-21-12/#4833274"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/asuraswrathscreenshot001bmpjpgcopy-1329842146_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/asuras-wrath-2-21-12/#4833275"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/asuraswrathscreenshot002bmpjpgcopy-1329842147_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/21/asuras-wrath-dlc-isnt-kidding-about-this-anime-inspired-stuf/">Asura's Wrath DLC isn't kidding about this 'anime-inspired' stuff</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 Feb 2012 16:00:00 EST. The Ver. 2012 balance update for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/super-street-fighter-4-arcade-edition"><em>Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition</em></a> has been available on consoles and in arcades since <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/02/super-street-fighter-4-arcade-editions-ver-2012-patch-in-ext/">early December</a>. PC fighters have had to make due with vanilla <em>SSF4AE</em> and all of the problems that came with it. Thankfully, it looks like a solution is right around the corner. Better late than never, right?<br />
<br />
Capcom hopes to have the Ver. 2012 update ready for the PC version of <em>SSF4AE</em> by the end of February, according to <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/lunch/blog/2012/01/12/super_street_fighter_iv_arcade_edition_pc_to_receive_2012_update">an announcement</a> made on Capcom Unity by a dog in a wig. Further information will be announced "in the coming weeks," so we'll just have to wait; something PC fighting game fans have become quite accustomed to over the years.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/13/super-street-fighter-4-arcade-edition-ver-2012-update-coming-to/">Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition Ver. 2012 update coming to PCs in Feb.</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Jan 2012 22:00:00 EST. Can you ever get enough <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/11/report-mega-man-x-ios-hides-25th-anniversary-logo/">25th anniversary logos</a> for Capcom properties? We hope not, because here's another one. The first <em>Street Fighter</em> (the one nobody played) came out in 1987, and Capcom is planning some kind of "international celebration" to mark the big anniversary. Think about that for a second -- the <em>Street Fighter</em> and <em>Mega Man</em> franchises started in the same year.<br />
<br />
The publisher has yet to announce details of the celebration, but of course the release of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-x-tekken"><em>Street Fighter X Tekken </em></a>will be part of it by default. We feel pretty safe in assuming it'll be accompanied by a few more <em>Street Fighter</em> games.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/11/street-fighter-25th-anniversary-logo-a-precursor-to-internation/">Street Fighter 25th Anniversary logo a precursor to 'international celebration'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jan 2012 23:00:00 EST. The Android OS version of <em>Street Fighter IV</em> we originally caught wind of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/19/street-fighter-iv-coming-to-android-exclusive-to-lg-at-first/">back in September</a> is now <em>Street Fighter IV HD</em>. As per the original announcement, the game will initially be exclusive to the LG Spectrum, which <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/lg-spectrum-verizon-lte/">launches on Verizon January 19</a>.<br />
<br />
After LG's limited exclusivity blackout expires, however, <em>Street Fighter IV HD</em> will hit the US Android Marketplace in May for $12.99. A Wifi-enabled VS. mode allows for local multiplayer, although it's unclear whether wireless VS. will require two of the same handsets. Also no word yet on system requirements for non-LG devices, although since the Spectrum is launching with Gingerbread and not Ice-Cream Sandwich, any dual-core Android device seems like a good bet.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/11/street-fighter-iv-hd-coming-to-android-marketplace-in-may/">Street Fighter IV HD coming to Android Marketplace in May</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jan 2012 18:00:00 EST. The cross-over character cavalcade of fun that is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-x-tekken"><em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em></a> continues to hemorrhage new fighters, albeit this time the announcement is somewhat less flashy (and far more unintentional) than previous roster reveals.<br />
<br />
A new screenshot uploaded to <em>SFXT</em>'s Xbox Live Marketplace page, upon close inspection, shows the portraits of Iron Fist veteran <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ling_Xiaoyu">Ling Xiaoyu</a> and Shadowloo head honcho <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M._Bison">M. Bison</a>, as seen in the <em>zoomed</em> and <em>enhanced</em> image above. This brings the game's character stable to an even 30 fighters, PS3/Vita exclusive peeps not included. We're excited about the prospect of psycho-crushing our foes once again, but we also can't help but be disappointed by <em>SFXT</em>'s severe lack of <a href="http://tekken.wikia.com/wiki/True_Ogre">snake-arm minotaurs</a> and <a href="http://tekken.wikia.com/wiki/Gon">farting dinosaurs</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/01/xiaoyu-and-m-bison-leaked-for-street-fighter-x-tekken/">Xiaoyu and M. Takashi Nishiyama has been in the game for about as long as "the game" has existed. Responsible for <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_Patrol">Moon Patrol</a></em>, <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_(video_game)">Street Fighter</a></em>, <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatal_Fury:_King_of_Fighters">Fatal Fury</a></em>, the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo_Geo">Neo Geo</a> and more Sonic games than you can shake a stick at, Nishiyama's design portfolio spans 30 years and includes some of the most fundamental design philosophies that still serve as a foundation for many genres to this day.<br />
<br />
His company, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dimps">Dimps</a>, has made a name for itself developing titles for other publishers' IPs; Dragon Ball Z, Sonic the Hedgehog, Street Fighter, etc. After nearly twelve years of development-for-hire work, however, Dimps is looking to branch out and create its own original IPs, according to statements made by Nishiyama during <a href="http://www.1up.com/features/the-man-who-created-street-fighter">an interview with 1UP</a>.<br />
<br />
"I feel that it's time that we need to create our own social and browser IPs," Nishiyama said. "We're going to start with things that have more manageable budgets, like social and browser games. I believe that's more realistic."<br />
<br />
Nishiyama sees mobile platforms as a lower-risk entry platform for a new IP, as compared with the astronomical costs associated with console game development. His company must be cautious, however, because creating original IPs will position Dimps as competition to publishers, rather than a developmental ally: "As soon as we announce that we're creating original IP, we become their competitor. So we need to approach it carefully and be sensitive to the politics involved."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/17/dimps-expanding-into-original-ips-for-mobile-and-social-platform/">Dimps expanding into original IPs for mobile and social platforms</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 17 Dec 2011 13:30:00 EST. Details are slim at this point, but <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/brelston/blog/2011/11/11/genesis_version_of_super_sfii_coming_to_virtual_console..._with_online_play!">Capcom Unity</a> announced yesterday that the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive version of <em>Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers</em> will be coming to Nintendo's Virtual Console ecosystem sometime in the future. No word on pricing or availability, but we do know that the port will feature online play, which, believe it or not, actually existed in the original release in the form of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XBAND">XBAND</a> compatibility. <br />
<br />
If you're not old enough to remember XBAND, you're probably not old enough to be excited about one of the many variants of Street Fighter 2 being re-released. If you <em>are</em> old enough to remember XBAND, we hope you can find time between refinancing your mortgage and picking the kids up from band practice to go a few rounds.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/12/super-street-fighter-ii-coming-to-virtual-console-with-online-mu/">Super Street Fighter II coming to Virtual Console with online multiplayer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 12 Nov 2011 18:30:00 EST. It may sound like a dull hum from all the way over there in Outworld, but the Street Fighter community has been a noisy, combative warzone lately, and not in a good way. See, ever since Capcom outlined <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-x-tekken"><em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em></a>'s <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/15/watch-seth-killian-demonstrate-street-fighter-x-tekkens-gem-sy/">Gem System</a>, Street Fighter devotees (and competitive fighters in general) have been conducting heated debates over the system's merits, drawbacks and implications for serious tournament play, as well as the impact it will have on the casual fighting community.<br />
<br />
Seth Killian, Capcom Community Manager and face of all things Street Fighter in North America, chatted with <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/38212/Capcoms_Seth_Killian_On_Street_Fighter_X_Tekken_Gems_Controversy.php?">Gamasutra</a> to expound upon some of the Gem System's intricacies and the design philosophy behind it. First and foremost, Killian stressed that the system has been part of <em>SFxT</em>'s design philosophy for years, and that it represents the proverbial "nerd feather" that intrigues analytical theorycraft-style gamers.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/01/seth-killian-clarifies-sfxts-controversial-gem-system/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Seth Killian clarifies Street Fighter x Tekken's controversial Gem System</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/01/seth-killian-clarifies-sfxts-controversial-gem-system/">Seth Killian clarifies Street Fighter x Tekken's controversial Gem System</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Nov 2011 10:30:00 EST. <br />
"But wait," you might be thinking. "Isn't Dan Hibiki, founder of the Saikyo-ryu school of martial arts and proprieter of the Saikyo Dojo <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/30/weekly-webcomic-wrapup-is-mourning-a-loss/">deceased</a>? Wasn't he <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/30/dan-and-anna-knocked-out-of-street-fighter-x-tekkens-final-rost/">killed</a> during the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-x-tekken"><em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em></a> announcement at E3?" <br />
<br />
Quite right, intrepid fighting fan! Our understanding of the situation has been much the same, and yet the long, luxurious ponytail and pink gi seen in the above trailer are unmistakably <em>Hibiki</em>. It appears as though <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/capcom">Capcom</a> has taken to teasing multiple characters per trailer, however, as some of those body parts also look distinctively Juri-esque. <br />
<br />
Punch through the break for two more teasers, one of which flashes some undeniably Mecha Zangief goodness. Keep in mind that just because a character is identified in one of these videos, that doesn't necessarily mean they'll be playable in-game. Mecha Zangief has already been spotted in the background of at least one <em>SFXT</em> stage, so only time will tell.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/08/new-street-fighter-x-tekken-trailers-tease-dan-mecha-zangief-an/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New Street Fighter X Tekken trailers tease Dan, Mecha Zangief and others</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/08/new-street-fighter-x-tekken-trailers-tease-dan-mecha-zangief-an/">New Street Fighter X Tekken trailers tease Dan, Mecha Zangief and others</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 08 Oct 2011 13:30:00 EST. In what basically amounts to a 3-hit <em>news shoryuken</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/LG">LG</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Capcom">Capcom</a> have announced that a mobile version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> will fight its way onto Google's Android OS sometime in Q4 (Hit 1), and that the title will be exclusive to an upcoming LG smartphone (Hit 2), but only for the first three months (KO!).<br />
<br />
No pricing or release information has been given beyond the Q4 window, and LG has yet to announce which of its smartphones will receive the title. The press release refers to the manufacturer's "first HD Android smartphone," however, pegging the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/17/lg-teases-lu6200-with-1-5ghz-dual-core-cpu-720p-hd-display-gin/">LU6200</a> as the prime suspect. No word on whether or not this is a direct port of the iOS version of <em>Street Fighter IV</em>, but the LU6200's slate form factor would easily facilitate the title.<br />
<br />
Once we know more about Street Fighter IV's system requirements, we'll have a better idea of which phones will be able to run the fighter once the exclusivity agreement has run its course. For now though, all we can do is cross our fingers and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xperia-play">think button-y thoughts</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/19/street-fighter-iv-coming-to-android-exclusive-to-lg-at-first/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Street Fighter IV coming to Android, exclusive to LG (at first)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/19/street-fighter-iv-coming-to-android-exclusive-to-lg-at-first/">Street Fighter IV coming to Android, exclusive to LG (at first)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Sep 2011 15:50:00 EST. During TGS, Capcom revealed <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-x-tekken">Street Fighter X Tekken</a>'s</em> "Pandora Mode," which allows players to sacrifice a character in order to give the tag partner infinite EX meter before also dying, allowing for last-ditch comeback efforts. Curious about the motivation for this kind of crazy mode, I asked producer Yoshinori Ono, who then proceeded to take me to school about the differences in flow between <em>Street Fighter</em> and <em>Tekken</em> games.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/18/how-street-fighter-x-tekkens-pandora-mode-bridges-the-fighter/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>How Street Fighter X Tekken's 'Pandora Mode' bridges the fighters' styles</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/18/how-street-fighter-x-tekkens-pandora-mode-bridges-the-fighter/">How Street Fighter X Tekken's 'Pandora Mode' bridges the fighters' styles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 18 Sep 2011 18:30:00 EST. For as good as they are with revenge, salvation and murder, it's far rarer to find video games that delve into the intricacies of love and human reproduction. Capcom's cinematics department must be working on permanent mandatory overtime, as yet another character trailer for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-x-tekken"><em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em></a> has been revealed by Famitsu. Mostly concerned with <em>Street Fighter 4</em>'s Rufus, the latest trailer (above) also corroborates previous teasers which hinted at everyone's favorite Underoos spokesman, Zangief. Marshall Law also makes an appearance, albeit in a more gaseous form.<br />
<br />
We figure you'd have to be pretty damn sloshed to mistake Tekken's portly prodigy Bob Richards for Street Fighter's hardbodied heart-throb Ken Masters, but they <em>are</em> both blonde Americans, and we're willing to accept virtually any contrived excuse that allows Capcom characters to battle their direct Namco counterparts.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/12/street-fighter-x-tekken-bar-brawl-teases-rufus-marshall-law-za/">Street Fighter X Tekken bar brawl teases Rufus, Marshall Law, Zangief</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Sep 2011 18:01:00 EST. Fashion-forward fighters, take note: <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-3-third-strike-online-edition">Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition</a></em>'s Color Pack DLC has been removed from the Xbox Live Marketplace following <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/lunch/blog/2011/09/07/street_fighter_iii_third_strike_online_edition_color_pack_update_for_xbox_360_owners">a statement issued by Capcom</a>, stating that the Color Pack contains "incorrect files," and that a Color Pack containing <em>correct</em> files is being constructed. <br />
<br />
If you purchased the DLC before it was removed from the Marketplace, tell Capcom about it <a href="http://shop.capcom.com/store/capcomus/html/pbPage.capcom-support?resid=TlkJmgoBAlkAACuqAJ8AAAAB&amp;rests=1315664027158">here</a> by clicking the "Ask a Question" button and selecting "General" or "Tech Support - General" from the category drop-downs. The Street Fighter series has a bit of a bad reputation for its iterative, somewhat convoluted and seemingly redundant naming scheme. <em>Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo</em>, for instance, may sound bombastic and even a bit pretentious, but to the initiated, each word carries a specific and meaningful weight. The fighting game world has its own vernacular, and if you're not fluent we recommend grabbing a translator, because we're about to go <em>native:</em><br />

<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/super-street-fighter-4-arcade-edition">Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition</a></em>'s upcoming balance patch, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/01/super-street-fighter-iv-arcade-edition-ver-2012-patch-fixes-b/">Ver. 2012</a>, has been painstaking detailed <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/gregaman/blog/2011/08/24/dev_blog:_ssfiv:_ae_2012_rebalancing_details_(part_1)">over</a> <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/gregaman/blog/2011/08/24/dev_blog:_ssfiv:_ae_2012_rebalancing_details_(part_2)">at</a> <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/gregaman/blog/2011/08/25/dev_blog:_ssfiv:_ae_2012_rebalancing_details_(part_3)">Capcom Unity</a> ahead of the update's field trial. Minor tweaks and adjustments are in store for every character across the board, however Gouken, Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu, Fei Long and Hakan have been changed fairly dramatically in order to address global balance issues. Capcom says their focus is on "buffing up weaker characters, rather than nerfing existing ones," but a quick glance at Yun and Yang's drastically altered figures suggests otherwise, not that we're complaining.<br />

All the nitty gritty details are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/27/super-street-fighter-iv-arcade-edition-ver-2012-character-ch/#continued">after the break</a> for your viewing pleasure, but we're mainly focused on Dan's awesome buffs, which make him the "strongest version of Dan ever in a Street Fighter," according to Capcom Unity. Just you wait, you won't be able to swing a dead cat without hitting a Dan at next year's EVO. Going into <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-3-third-strike-online-edition"><em>Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition</em></a>, the question wasn't "Will it be any good?" so much as "Will it <em>still</em> be any good?" See, a lot has happened in the twelve years that've passed since <em>Third Strike</em> hit Japanese arcades in 1999: The fighting game scene has died and been reborn anew, and our conventional understanding of the genre has seen its own phoenix-like regeneration.<br />
<br />
Can a game that was considered nearly perfect at the peak of its relevancy still be considered as such years later? Does our crazy, modern world of Reptiles, C. Vipers and Cyclopses still need <em>Third Strike</em>? <em>Yes</em>, as it turns out, it can and it does. Like a fine wine,<em> Third Strike </em>has only improved with age.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iii-third-strike-online-edition-e3-2011/">Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition (E3 2011)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iii-third-strike-online-edition-e3-2011/#4205374"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/sf3o4x3screenwithin-gamenotifications1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iii-third-strike-online-edition-e3-2011/#4205375"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/sf3o4x3screenwithin-gamenotifications2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iii-third-strike-online-edition-e3-2011/#4205376"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/sf3o4x3screenwithin-gamenotifications3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iii-third-strike-online-edition-e3-2011/#4205377"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/sf3o4x3screenwithin-gamenotifications4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-iii-third-strike-online-edition-e3-2011/#4205378"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/sf3o4x3screenwithin-gamenotifications5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/street-fighter-iii-third-strike-online-edition-review-aged-to/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition review: Aged to perfection</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/street-fighter-iii-third-strike-online-edition-review-aged-to/">Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition review: Aged to perfection</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 22 Aug 2011 17:00:00 EST. <br />
This is normally where we'd talk about the characters seen fighting in the two latest <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-x-tekken"><em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em></a> trailers (one above, one after the break), including Hugo, Poison, Raven, and Bob. We'd maybe offer an opinion about how the game is shaping up.<br />
<br />
But ... well, Kuma the bear has an ultra combo in which he knocks his opponent down, puts his bear butt right up in his or her face, and lets one rip. We're never, ever going to be able to talk about anything else in this game. This is what the <em>Tekken</em> series has brought into the mix. Bear farts.<br />
<br />

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/super-street-fighter-4-arcade-edition"><em>Street Fighter</em></a> has a surprisingly rich, complex, and storied mythos surrounding its characters, especially considering the fact that it's a game about beating people unconscious. <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9KvRDaIpbs"><em>Balrog: Behind the Glory</em></a> takes that history and puts it in a format we can all understand: the mockumentary.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/13/balrog-behind-the-glory-is-a-fan-made-street-fighter-masterpiec/">Balrog: Behind the Glory is a fan-made Street Fighter masterpiece</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 13 Aug 2011 17:30:00 EST. <br />
As any veteran fighter knows, a large part of what makes a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Tekken"><em>Tekken</em></a> game feel like a <em>Tekken</em> game is punching and/or getting punched by a bear. To be honest, we've been worried that this subtle nuance might have been lost on Capcom, as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-x-tekken"><em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em></a>'s ever-growing character roster continues to feature zero bears.<br />
<br />
Thankfully, our fears appear to have been unwarranted, as the above trailer shows quite a bit of fur. Although, it <em>is</em> possible that Zangief has stopped waxing. A second teaser has been tucked away <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/31/new-street-fighter-x-tekken-teaser-trailers-make-the-wait-unbear/#continued">beyond the viel</a>, and while those are some pretty <a href="http://streetfighter.wikia.com/wiki/Adon">Adon</a>-lookin' feet, our money is on <a href="http://streetfighter.wikia.com/wiki/Gou_Hibiki">Gou Hibiki</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/31/new-street-fighter-x-tekken-teaser-trailers-make-the-wait-unbear/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New Street Fighter X Tekken teaser trailers make the wait unbearable</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/31/new-street-fighter-x-tekken-teaser-trailers-make-the-wait-unbear/">New Street Fighter X Tekken teaser trailers make the wait unbearable</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 31 Jul 2011 15:00:00 EST. According to series producer Yoshinori Ono, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-x-tekken/"><em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em></a>'s character roster has been finalized, and it looks like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/24/street-fighter-x-tekken-and-vice-versa-revealed-at-comic-con/">last year's trailer</a> was too much for Dan Hibiki to handle. Speaking with <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2011/07/29/street-fighter-x-tekken-interview-continues-with-gameplay-mechanics-and-possible-ports/">Siliconera</a>, Ono stated that <em>Street Fighter</em>'s pinkest protagonist "won't be in <em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em>" due to the fact that "he was killed by a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken"><em>Tekken</em></a> character at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Comic-Con">Comic-Con</a> last year."<br />
<br />
Ono also remarked that <em>Tekken</em> veteran Anna Williams will be staying on the sidelines as well, albeit for less lethal reasons. "As much as I personally wanted to have a cool Nina and Anna tag battle," he said, "the director was against putting Anna because we already had Nina in." While we sincerely doubt that Dan is actually, <em>for-reals</em> dead, we can't help but be saddened by the news. A Yoshimitsu Super-Taunt doesn't seem like it would have the same <em>flair</em>, you know?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/30/dan-and-anna-knocked-out-of-street-fighter-x-tekkens-final-rost/">Dan and Anna knocked out of Street Fighter X Tekken's final roster</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 30 Jul 2011 11:30:00 EST. The <a href="http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/guiles-theme-goes-with-everything">Guile theme goes with everything</a> -- including adorable cartoon cats. Capcom and Sanrio have announced a partnership that will result in "Hello Kitty X Street Fighter" merchandise next year. No images or details about specific items have been revealed, but they will all feature "Hello Kitty dressed in the distinct costumes from the <em>Street Fighter</em> series of video games."<br />
<br />
This is just part of the torrent of <em>Street Fighter </em>news that has come out during Comic-Con, including news about <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/21/final-fights-poison-playable-in-street-fighter-x-tekken/">Street Fighter X Tekken</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/20/street-fighter-3-third-strike-goes-online-starting-august-23/">Street Fighter 3: Third Strike Online Edition</a></em>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/20/ultimate-marvel-vs-capcom-3-lands-in-november-adds-strider-gh/"><em>Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em></a>. Is it possible for this collaboration to turn into a game? Considering that the result would be another <em>Street Fighter</em> game, we're guessing <em>yes</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/22/hello-kitty-x-street-fighter-merch-in-2012/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hello Kitty X Street Fighter merch in 2012</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/22/hello-kitty-x-street-fighter-merch-in-2012/">Hello Kitty X Street Fighter merch in 2012</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Jul 2011 20:20:00 EST. You're not tired of news about Capcom fighting games yet, are you? If so, uh... sorry. We've got some great posts just below this one, some of which aren't about fighting games. Now, for the rest of you, Capcom announced the release dates for the <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-3-third-strike-online-edition">XBLA/PSN update</a> of <em>Street Fighter 3: Third Strike</em>.<br />
<br />
You'll be able to <em>fight for the future</em> in the online version of a past <em>Street Fighter</em> starting August 23, when it hits PSN. The XBLA release follows the next day. Check out a trailer above to see some of the stuff added to this version of the beloved 1999 fighter -- like GGPO-based online play, graphical filters, and challenges.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/20/street-fighter-3-third-strike-goes-online-starting-august-23/">Street Fighter 3: Third Strike goes Online starting August 23</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Jul 2011 19:00:00 EST. We are almost certainly too old to love HeroClix as much as we do. For us, the miniature action figures/strategy game pieces aren't a fondly remembered childhood pastime but rather a secret, shameful army in a single Ziploc freezer bag that we prayed our loved ones would never find.<br />
<br />
The toys may not be as popular as they once were (even with those for whom they're age appropriate), and we've gotten a little older ourselves, but if you think that's going to stop us from buying the newly announced line of <em>Street Fighter</em> HeroClix, then you're off your gourd.<br />
<br />
This new line includes a six-figure starter pack and 27 other assorted Clix (available in single-character boosters) to help you fill out your O-scale outfit. Look for them on store shelves in August.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/23/street-fighter-heroclix-in-the-worx/">Street Fighter HeroClix in the worx</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Jun 2011 21:45:00 EST. Let me lay a hypothetical on you. Let's say that tomorrow, a major update is released for <em>StarCraft 2</em>, <em>League of Legends</em>, <em>Team Fortress 2</em> or whatever your favorite, tightly balanced competitive online game may be. This update greatly reduces the effectiveness of many of your trusty techniques, but delivers a handful of overwhelming improvements to a select few others. It's fair to assume that the outrage over this un-balancing would be deafening, and that players would demand an explanation.<br />
<br />
"While we originally designed this title with strong competitive balance in mind," explains your favorite developer, "we've decided to purposely make these specific elements overly powerful as to manufacture a competitive experience amongst players."<br />
<br />
Sounds preposterous, right? After all, who would purposely sabotage their own title? Now for the Shyamalanian twist: <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/02/24/no_home_super_sfiv_ae/">That is precisely</a> what is happening with the release of <em>Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition</em>. (Spoilers, I know).<br />

Sometimes you can't decide whether to read a comic or watch a cartoon. For those times, there are motion comics, which are <i>almost</i> both. Capcom has revealed a new <em>Street Fighter</em> motion comic, Eagle One Media's <em>Street Fighter: The New Challengers</em>, coming to DVD on August 2.<br />
<br />
The summary text mentions separate storylines for Cammy, Chun-Li and Ken, along with appearances by Guile, Fei-Long, Sakura, Gen, Balrog, Blanka and Vega -- which seems like rather a lot of ground to cover in 90 minutes. A clip is available after the break.<br />
<br />
If you order the <a href="http://www.eagleonemedia.com/proddetail.php?prod=10335">$20 DVD</a> from Eagle One, you'll get a figurine; for <a href="http://www.eagleonemedia.com/proddetail.php?prod=10325">$10 more</a>, you can add a Ryu T-shirt to the package. Warning: XL only.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/10/street-fighter-gets-kind-of-animated-in-new-motion-comic/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Street Fighter gets kind of animated in new motion comic</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/10/street-fighter-gets-kind-of-animated-in-new-motion-comic/">Street Fighter gets kind of animated in new motion comic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 May 2011 22:00:00 EST. Six fighters have joined the ranks of confirmed characters in Capcom's crossover fighting game, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-x-tekken"><em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em></a>. We already knew Ryu, Chun-Li, Kazuya and Nina Williams would be exchanging blows when the game drops next year -- now we can add Ken, Guile and Abel to the Street Fighter camp, and King, Marduk and Bob to Team Tekken.<br />
<br />
We think this opens up some pretty interesting teammate possibilities. Like, can you imagine a more terrifying fighting force than one that includes an army guy who can punch through the sound barrier and another guy who replaced his own head with a jaguar head? We cannot. Although the spectacle of wrestling isn't lost on us, this new class of wrestlers lacks the core values and strengths we've come to expect while growing up and watching the sport. Where is the guy telling us to <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMkC67sEEs8#t=5s">take our vitamins</a>? <br />
<br />
Thankfully, somebody's gone through the trouble of creating better wrestling role models in <em>WWE: Smackdown vs Raw 2011</em> -- specifically, several <em>Street Fighter</em> characters available for download through <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/13/wwe-smackdown-vs-raw-2011-getting-fan-axxess-dlc-delivery-pro/">the in-game content browser</a>. Think about it: is there a better person for all of the children of the world to look up to than <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryu_%28Street_Fighter%29">a hobo</a> whose sole pursuit in life is to beat up everyone on the planet? <em>Total</em> role model material.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/03/street-fighter-characters-recreated-in-smackdown-vs-raw-2011/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Street Fighter characters recreated in Smackdown vs. Raw 2011</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/03/street-fighter-characters-recreated-in-smackdown-vs-raw-2011/">Street Fighter characters recreated in Smackdown vs. Raw 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Jan 2011 18:00:00 EST. The trailer reveals two new features, both of which take advantage of the advanced wireless communication features in the system.<br />
<br />
"Figure Collection" mode allows players to collect fighter figurines, which engage in automatic battles whenever two 3DSes with Street Fighter data come into contact. The winner in each match wins the opponent's figure. The other feature is more traditional, but also more awesome. If you happen to come across another SSFIV player while you have the game running, you'll be able to jump automatically into a versus battle ... which means you could literally fight someone you met on a street.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/29/super-street-fighter-iv-3d-edition-trailer-shows-new-game-modes/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition trailer shows new game modes</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/29/super-street-fighter-iv-3d-edition-trailer-shows-new-game-modes/">Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition trailer shows new game modes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 29 Sep 2010 11:45:00 EST. The <em>Mega Man Universe</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/16/capcoms-worlds-collide-in-mega-man-universe-for-psn-and-xbla/">teaser trailer</a> hinted at all sorts of cross-game franchise madness when it debuted earlier this year, and the first gameplay trailers do little more than stoke our curiosity all the more. Three teasers (courtesy of <a href="http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/31233">1UP</a>, <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/megamanuniverse/video/6274925?tag=topslot;title;3">GameSpot</a> and <a href="http://ps3.ign.com/dor/objects/81087/mega-man-universe/videos/mega_man_trl_trailer_90110.html">IGN</a>) each begin with an introduction from creator Keiji Inafune, and then launch into gameplay footage of this prettied up side-scrolling Mega Man title.<br />
<br />
Head past the break for all three trailers.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/02/first-mega-man-universe-gameplay-footage-revealed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>First Mega Man Universe gameplay footage revealed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/02/first-mega-man-universe-gameplay-footage-revealed/">First Mega Man Universe gameplay footage revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Sep 2010 12:45:00 EST. All of these screens, depicting the same four characters we've seen in other <em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em> media, <em>curiously</em> seem to show the <em>Tekken</em> characters being beaten up by Ryu and Chun-Li. Ono also <a href="http://twitter.com/Yoshi_OnoChin/status/20959772442">tweeted</a> an "invitation" to a GamesCom presentation during which he and Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada will both appear and show off the game.<br />
<br />
Which brings us to the one person for whom these tweets <em>aren't</em> great news. Ono entreated fans to "gather with me to rid of Harada's annoying beard off his baby face once and for all."<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-x-tekken-8-13-10/">Street Fighter X Tekken (8/13/10)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-x-tekken-8-13-10/#3258726"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/sftekken8131001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-x-tekken-8-13-10/#3258728"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/sftekken8131002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-x-tekken-8-13-10/#3258730"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/sftekken8131003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-x-tekken-8-13-10/#3258732"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/sftekken8131004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-x-tekken-8-13-10/#3258733"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/08/sftekken8131005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/13/new-street-fighter-x-tekken-screens-street-fighter-producer-tau/">New Street Fighter X Tekken screens, Street Fighter producer taunts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Aug 2010 14:00:00 EST. We thought we'd take the opportunity to compare the graphics in this handheld version to the existing <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv,@iphone"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> on iPhone.<br />
<br />
However, there's not much of a comparison. The iPhone Street Fighter uses pre-rendered 2D sprites based on the console/arcade game's 3D models, for a look reminiscent of <em>Killer Instinct</em>. The 3DS game, on the other hand, appears to use lower-detail versions of the actual 3D models, judging by the dynamic camera angles. That's why you get to see the extreme close-up of Ken's goofy punch face up there. <br />
<br />
Of course, it's worth noting that these are early screenshots, and the final game may come out looking different. Given the relatively low texture detail, though, this looks like something that could be <em>possible</em> on a handheld system. Compare the two games yourself in our galleries. <br />

Capcom producer for all things <em>Street Fighter</em>, Yoshinori Ono, dropped a bomb on all of us this weekend when he revealed Capcom's intent to re-release <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-3-third-strike"><em>Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike</em></a>. We <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/25/capcom-making-online-version-of-street-fighter-3-3rd-strike/">hypothesized</a> that the game would be distributed digitally -- think: the recently re-released <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/marvel-vs-capcom-2">Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a></em> -- and Capcom confirmed to <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/new-street-fighter-iii-game-announced">Eurogamer</a> that the game is indeed a "downloadable title."<br />

No specific platforms were mentioned for the upcoming adaptation, though Xbox Live and PSN are likely safe bets right now. We'll keep you posted as we find out more.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/26/street-fighter-3-3rd-strike-online-will-be-a-downloadable-titl/">Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike Online will be a 'downloadable title'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 Jul 2010 16:30:00 EST. Capcom didn't just announce <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/24/street-fighter-x-tekken-and-vice-versa-revealed-at-comic-con/">two</a></em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/24/street-fighter-x-tekken-and-vice-versa-revealed-at-comic-con/"> Street Fighter games</a> in yesterday's Comic-Con panel -- that would <em>hardly</em> have been worth holding a panel. Producer Yoshinori Ono also announced that the company is working on <em>Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online</em>, an updated re-release of the 1999 arcade/Dreamcast game.<br />
<br />
It's "not going to come out in the immediate future," Ono told the crowds already daydreaming about online <a href="http://streetfighter.wikia.com/wiki/Q">Q</a> matches, "but just let everyone know that Street Fighter 3 is coming back." He didn't have any more details, simply directing suggestions to <a href="http://capcom-unity.com">Capcom-Unity</a>. It seems relatively safe to assume that an online-focused fighting game is being considered at least for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, probably as a digital release like <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/marvel-vs-capcom-2">Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a></em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/25/capcom-making-online-version-of-street-fighter-3-3rd-strike/">Capcom making online version of Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 25 Jul 2010 10:00:00 EST.
