Zen Studios has announced a hyper uppercut to its addictive XBLA release, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pinballfx"><em>Pinball FX</em></a>, with a new table dedicated to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter"><em>Street Fighter</em></a>. The<em> Super Street Fighter II Turbo</em> table is the pinball game's fourth expansion, and is expected to be available for purchase on November 12. No price for the download has been revealed, though we hope that neither Zen nor Capcom expect us to pay more than the 200 points normally asked for these tables, simply for the prestige that comes from rolling balls across Ryu's face.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pinball-fx-street-fighter-theme/">Pinball FX Street Fighter Theme</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pinball-fx-street-fighter-theme/#1142559"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/pfx_streetfighter_screenshot_03_png_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pinball-fx-street-fighter-theme/#1142558"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/pfx_streetfighter_screenshot_02_png_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pinball-fx-street-fighter-theme/#1142557"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/pfx_streetfighter_screenshot_01_png_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pinball-fx-street-fighter-theme/#1142556"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/pfx_sf2_keyart3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pinball-fx-street-fighter-theme/#1142532"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/pfx_streetfighter_screenshot_06_png_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/06/xblas-pinball-fx-getting-street-fighter-theme/">XBLA's Pinball FX getting Street Fighter theme</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 06 Nov 2008 16:30:00 EST. While fighting game fans know they must defeat <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheng_Long">Sheng Long</a> to stand a chance, players in Japan will soon be able to try from the comfort of their couch. <a href="http://news.dengeki.com/elem/000/000/117/117796/">Dengeki Online</a> reports that Capcom plans to release the console versions of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> in February 2009, with a feature-length <em>SFIV</em> anime directed by <em>Akira </em>animator Koji Morimoto given away as a preorder bonus. <br /><br />Interestingly, while this announcement currently only pertains to Japan, it echoes an earlier report which indicated that the game and its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/30/fei-long-dan-join-street-fighter-iv-home-roster/">console</a>-<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/cammy-kicks-high-in-street-fighter-iv-home-versions/">specific</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/sakura-joins-street-fighter-ivs-console-exclusive-cast/">roster</a> would <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/23/capcom-street-fighter-iv-definitely-out-this-winter/">"definitely"</a> hurricane kick its way to Western audiences sometime this winter, most likely <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/19/street-fighter-iv-releasing-alongside-movie-in-2009-says-films/">alongside</a> the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/23/behold-kristin-kreuk-as-chun-li/">Chun-Li-focused <em>Street Fighter</em> film</a>. Following <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/30/street-fighter-iv-home-port-to-include-new-characters-online-pl/">this morning's news</a> that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/27/capcom-confirms-street-fighter-iv-coming-to-pc-xbox-360-ps3/">recently announced</a> home versions of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sfiv">Street Fighter IV</a> </em>would come packing the extra punch of online play and an expanded cast, a new report confirms two familiar fighters who will be added to the game's hurricane kick beyond the arcade. <br /><br />According to IGN, Japanese publication <em>Famitsu Xbox</em> released concept art illustrating Bruce Lee-inspired Fei Long and Alpha vet <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Hibiki">Dan Hibiki</a>, adding that both fighters will be home version exclusives. While Fei Long certainly makes sense, the laughably weak Dan has always served more as comic relief, though we look forward to the hilariously drawn out Dan vs. Dan online throw downs to come when the game is eventually released.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/30/fei-long-dan-join-street-fighter-iv-home-roster/">Fei Long, Dan join Street Fighter IV home roster</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 May 2008 16:30:00 EST. Gone are the days when arcades represented the superior video game experience. While a part of us may cry coin operated tears at this realization, Capcom is quick to remind us that there is even more fun to be had at home, or at least there will be when the recently announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/27/capcom-confirms-street-fighter-iv-coming-to-pc-xbox-360-ps3/">domesticated flavor</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sfiv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> is released for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Speaking in an interview with Japan's <a href="http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1215415_1124.html">Weekly Famitsu</a>, producer Yoshinori Ono revealed that the home version of the upcoming fighter will include features not found in the arcade original, among them online play and exclusive characters.<br /><br />As we've come to expect from our <em>Street Fighter IV</em> news, Ono offered few specifics, saying only that the team is "watching the overall balance" in designing additions to the home version's roster. Since announcing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a>, Capcom has given us a number of things to ponder about the upcoming sequel, from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/06/street-fighter-iv-first-details-revealed/">3D graphics</a> to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/21/chun-lis-massive-hands-cause-for-concern-in-street-fighter-iv/">giant thumbs</a>, but one thing the company hasn't given us is a release date, not to mention where exactly we'll be able to play the game once it finally makes its way to retail. However this may be about to change, as according to French blog Jeuxvideo, Capcom recently made mention on a press site that the fighter is headed to the PS3, Xbox 360, and -- surprisingly -- the PC as well, with all three versions slated to hurricane kick retail shelves this winter.<br /><br />Unfortunately, the site neglected to link to the press site in question, and Joystiq ninjas have since returned from Capcom's press tower with nothing to show for their trouble, leaving us to flag this particular morsel of information as a rumor, albeit one we'd very much like to come true. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2008/05/24/rumor-street-fighter-iv-hitting-pc/">Big Download</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/26/rumor-street-fighter-iv-heading-to-ps3-xbox-360-pc-this-winte/">Rumor: Street Fighter IV heading to PS3, Xbox 360, PC this winter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 May 2008 18:30:00 EST. How many times have we been sitting on the city bus, bored and without handheld, only to turn to our cellphone for some bastardized version of <em>Snake </em>or <em>Bejewelled</em>? It's not something we like to think about, being forced to drive down the nail of boredom with the <em>Great Hammer of Meh</em>. However, a new mobile partnership now looks to have us struggling to pull off dragon punches on our keypads as well.<br /><br />According to mobile content provider Handango, the company has partnered with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/capcom">Capcom</a> to bring the <em>Street Fighter</em> and <em>Mega Man</em> franchises to its online store and mobile client on BlackBerry and Windows Mobile phones. Other franchises are promised as well, including miniaturized versions of <em>Are you Smarter Than a 5th Grader?</em> and the deal's underwhelming debut release, <em>Who Wants to be a Millionaire?</em> It will be interesting to see what other Capcom franchises make the jump to mobile phones as part of this agreement, though honestly we're more interested in <em>how in the world</em> we're going to pull off that dragon punch.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/20/street-fighter-mega-man-going-mobile/">Street Fighter, Mega Man going mobile</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 May 2008 10:30:00 EST. If there's one thing to keep us interested in video game golf it's alternate costumes, followed closely by karate masters and top-heavy succubi. Thankfully, however, Capcom is giving us all three in its upcoming Wii exclusive <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/we-love-golf"><em>We Love Golf</em></a>, which will let players dress their golfers as either <em>Street Fighter</em> blondie Ken or <em>Darkstalkers </em>femme fatale Morrigan, among other familiar faces.<br /><br />While the pair's North American-exclusive inclusion in the game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/we-love-golf-american-release-to-include-online-play/">was revealed</a> last March following the results of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/12/vote-capcom-faves-into-we-love-golf/">reader poll</a>, Capcom took time today to send over some screens showing what we can expect when the duo hits the links on July 15. Check out the shots below, including what Capcom calls its "first African-American incarnation of Ken Masters." <em>Shoryuken</em>!<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/we-love-golf-5-16-08/">We Love Golf (5/16/08)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/we-love-golf-5-16-08/#810145"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/stephanie_bankershot01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/we-love-golf-5-16-08/#810144"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/mark_shot09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/we-love-golf-5-16-08/#810143"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/mark_shot07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/we-love-golf-5-16-08/#810142"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/mark_shot06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/we-love-golf-5-16-08/#810141"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/mark_shot04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/16/ken-and-morrigan-shown-hitting-the-links-in-we-love-golf/">Ken and Morrigan shown hitting the links in We Love Golf</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 May 2008 14:12:00 EST. If there's one thing we enjoy as much as playing games, it's collecting various odds and ends that reflect our passion for the hobby. Whether it's a <a href="http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2005/12/working_designs_19862005.php"><em>Lunar</em> Ghaleon puppet</a> on the mantel or the <a href="https://www.first4figures.com/component/option,com_myphp/Itemid,3/product,44/">Varia Suit statue</a> on the coffee table, there is never any question where our loyalties lie. Now UDON Entertainment has added another collectible to our radar in the form of a <a href="http://www.udonentertainment.com/streetfightertribute/">limited edition art book</a> dedicated to the numerous brawlers who have thrown down in Capcom's storied <em>Street Fighter</em> franchise. The hardcover will feature the artistic styling of such artists as Penny Arcade's Gabe and pin-up style comic cover artist Adam Hughes, among <a href="http://udoncrew.deviantart.com/journal/18187315/">several others</a>. The book is available for pre-order now, with orders placed today dropping you in the running for Capcom's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/20/uh-ohkami-capcom-botches-okami-wii-box-art-inadvertently-adver/">IGN-branded</a> <em>Okami </em>for the Wii. At $80, the book isn't cheap, but really, when it comes to the things we adore, <em>what price can do love justice</em>?<br /><br />And while we have <em>Street Fighter</em> on the brain, we'd be remiss not to mention <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/1208">an interesting blog post</a> over at Camp Capcom, as the company is apparently entertaining the idea of creating a collection of figurines based on the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/streetfighter4"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a>, and as such are looking for input on which characters deserve to make the cut. So, of the faces we know, both old and new, who would we most like to see make the leap from polygons to plastic? E. Honda? Vega? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/meet-the-new-street-fighter-el-fuerte/">El Fuerte</a>? Hit up the poll on Capcom's blog and let your voice, albeit anonymously, be heard.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-tribute-art-book/">Street Fighter Tribute Art Book</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-tribute-art-book/#807442"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/huangjiawei_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/street-fighter-tribute-art-book/#807441"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/markbrooks-christinastrain_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/15/collectibles-cast-street-fighter-in-plastic-ink/">Collectibles cast Street Fighter in plastic, ink</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 May 2008 08:45:00 EST. While Capcom's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/streetfighteriv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> wowed us in February with its new fangled graphics and animation, it was the game's decidedly retro feel <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/22/gdc08-hands-on-with-street-fighter-iv/">that grabbed us by the neck</a> and assaulted our head like a barrage of Yoga Noogies. As it turned out, for all its 3D charm the fighter played like a sexed up <em>Street Fighter II</em>, which to be fair is just fine by us.<br /><br />Now Capcom has released screenshots of <em>Street Fighter II</em>'s bad guy quartet, Balrog, Bison, Sagat and Vega, all of whom make a return in the upcoming sequel. We can hardly wait to face down Vega's (or <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M._Bison">M. Capcom's VP of Strategic Planning &amp; Business Development, Christian Svensson, has a series of answers up on the <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/1019#more-1019">Capcom blog</a> clarifying why the company decided not to run a PS3 Beta for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/StreetFighter/"><em>Street Fighter II HD Remix</em></a>. Svensson stated that a major issue was a lack of resources; the necessary time, effort, and funds needed to run a parallel Beta would cause delays in the production schedule. While that's all understandable, this last part is a bit tough to swallow though, " ... any issues found in 360 will be fixed in PS3." We certainly hope so.<br /><br />Now, giving Capcom the benefit of the doubt, the company's PS3 and 360 e-distribution games are usually on par with each other. Svensson backs this up by reiterating that Capcom is "the only third party publisher doing cross platform, simultaneous digital releases." This is pretty much true. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/superpuzzlefighter/"><em>Super Puzzle Fighter</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rocketmen/"><em>Rocketmen: Axis of Evil</em></a>, and the company's other <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/joystiq-gets-hands-on-with-capcoms-upcoming-psn-titles/">upcoming offerings</a> all reflect this. Let's just hope that when it comes time to play, <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em> on the PSN will be bug free.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/15/capcom-explains-lack-of-ps3-street-fighter-ii-hd-beta/">Capcom explains lack of PS3 Street Fighter II HD beta</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 15 Mar 2008 15:30:00 EST. <br />Looking forward to Beta testing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/streetfighter/"><em>Street Fighter II HD Remix</em></a> on your PS3? Capcom says it's not going to happen. Instead, Beta test privileges are going straight to Xbox Gold subscribers when they purchase <em>Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</em>. Don't feel too bad fellow PSNers, the Beta is <em>only</em> an eight week trial of a reworked gaming classic -- a 1080p widescreen remake to be exact. It's absolutely not a reason to storm into town with torches. Absolutely not. <br /><br />But hey, everything that's got a downside has an upside. To keep you from feeling down out of luck about missing the Beta, we've got tons of media for you to check out. Such as these screenshots down below. Wow, they're sho-ryu-ken good. Yep, <em>sure looking good</em>, had to repeat that just in case you didn't get the play on words there. If you didn't get to see the pics from Joystiq earlier, then have a look at them now. Otherwise, check out the four gameplay vids we have waiting for you after the break. <br /><br />Sob, sob ... it's quite unfair that we're not getting a Beta on our side of the console pond. Oh well, the game is expected to come out later this year and so it won't be too long before we kick it old school. While the Xbox gamers enjoy their Beta, we'll be stuck watching that purple <span style="font-style: italic;">Street Fighter</span> VHS tape again and again. You know, for nostalgia's sake. Come on, you know you have one buried in the closet somewhere. Dig it up! <br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/hd-street-fighter-ii-beta-no-shows-psn-still-looks-great-though/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>HD Street Fighter II beta no-shows PSN, still looks great though</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/hd-street-fighter-ii-beta-no-shows-psn-still-looks-great-though/">HD Street Fighter II beta no-shows PSN, still looks great though</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Mar 2008 16:30:00 EST. It seems Capcom will be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/25/halo-3-beta-invite-guaranteed-in-every-copy-of-crackdown/">pulling a <em>Crackdown</em></a> with its upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/XBLA/">XBLA</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/PSN/">PSN</a> game, <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/tag/commando-3"><em>Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</em></a>. According to <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6187583.html?part=rss&amp;tag=gs_news&amp;subj=6187583">Gamespot</a>, the latest entry in the top-down shooter series will grant access to an Xbox Live beta of redone and redrawn brawler, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssf2hd"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a>. Upon purchasing the game for 800 MS Points ($10), Gold members will be offered an access key for the fighter's stress test. It's expected to become playable shortly after <em>Commando</em>'s release and should last approximately eight weeks.<br /><br /><em>Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</em> is due to arrive sometime in Spring.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/street-fighter-ii-hd-beta-bundled-with-commando-3/">Street Fighter II HD beta bundled with Commando 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 Mar 2008 17:30:00 EST. The bigger the fanbase, the more vitriolic the debates on canon, and Capcom's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/streetfighter"><em>Street Fighter</em></a> series is certainly no stranger to tirades and flamewars on character histories, proper chronology, and the like. So it's a big deal when the developer steps in to <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/945">answer one of the larger questions</a>: How exactly do you spell the name of M. Bison's evil organization?<br /><br />The official word from top men at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/capcom">Capcom</a> is that the group shall be known as "Shadaloo" -- not "Shadowloo," "Shadoloo," and especially not "Shadowlaw." Are we clear? Good. Now we can move on to more important topics, like if <em>Street Fighter Alpha 1</em> is really part of the proper timeline.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/28/capcom-its-shadaloo-folks/">Capcom: it's 'Shadaloo,' folks</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 Feb 2008 03:00:00 EST. We can do without "whiny" being the default setting for so much indy/emo music, but Arlington-and-Grand Prairie-Texas-based <a href="http://www.manfactory.net">Man Factory</a> serves up enough indy-powerpop-rock to offset any latent emo sadness. Plus the group's latest project is a series of seven songs written from the perspectives of <em>Street Fighter</em> characters. The series is called, "Street Fighter II: Rock Opera: Round 1," and hits enough high notes that we hope rounds two and three follow.<br /><br />The band offers such tracks as "<a href="http://students.uta.edu/tm/tmw7914/chunli,%20im%20lovin%20it.mp3">Chun Li, i'm lovin it</a>," and "<a href="http://students.uta.edu/tm/tmw7914/theregoesdhalsim.mp3">There goes Dhalism</a>" for free at its site. <font color="#808080"><span style="font-style: italic;">Every other week Scott Jon Siegel contributes </span><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/offthegrid/">Off the Grid</a><span style="font-style: italic;">, a column about card games, board games, and everything else non-digital.<br /><br /></span></font>Chun Li versus Seung Mina; Nightmare versus Morrigan; Akuma versus Tycho Brahe: Ultimate showdowns we're likely never to see outside of crudely-written fan-fiction and our own fevered dreamings. Luckily for us, Sabertooth Games has devised the <em><a href="http://www.sabertoothgames.com/ufs/ufs.asp">Universal Fighting System</a></em>, a collectible card game that allows players to mix and match licensed decks to create legendary one-on-one battles.<br /><br />There's one problem, or maybe I should call it a caveat: <em>UFS</em> isn't going to be for everybody. Beyond the gorgeous illustrations, and clear appeal to video game fans, this is most definitely a <strong>gamer's game</strong>; cards are littered with special icons, point values, and ancillary functions that dwarf the relative simplicity of CCGs like <em>Magic: The Gathering</em> and <em>Pok&eacute;mon</em>. Of course, the reward for this technical complexity is depth, with an incredibly strategic experience waiting to be unlocked by the hardiest of players. Not to deter you, but let this be a warning: A casual card game this is not.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/31/off-the-grid-reviews-universal-fighting-system/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Off the Grid reviews Universal Fighting System</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/31/off-the-grid-reviews-universal-fighting-system/">Off the Grid reviews Universal Fighting System</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 31 Jan 2008 18:30:00 EST. <p><em>Every (other) Tuesday, Mike Sylvester brings you <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/revolutionary/">REVOLUTIONARY</a>, a look at the wide world of Wii possibilities. </em><br /></p>
<p>So you've tuned in to Revolutionary expecting to see the dramatic conclusion of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/16/revolutionary-controller-showdown-round-1/">Controller Showdown</a>. Well, as I was evaluating games to use in the matchup, I found myself revisiting old scripts I'd put aside, and building new scripts for games which wouldn't be fit to judge the motion sensing capabilities of the Wii Remote and SIXAXIS. I realized that because of the recently updated build of GlovePIE, my passion for scripting has been re-ignited! <br /></p>
<p>You see, the <a href="http://www.wiili.org/forum/glovepie-030-released-t3225.html">latest version</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/GlovePIE">GlovePIE</a> supports the SIXAXIS, Xbox 360 control pad, and standard PC control pads, on top the already robust support for Wii Remotes and attachments. There's also a new function which allows you to easily write scripts for any and all of these controllers universally. So, before we commence with Round 2, let's take a look at the GlovePIE update that will figure heavily in the big battle.<br /></p><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/29/revolutionary-glovepie-v-30-the-great-equalizer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Revolutionary: GlovePIE v.30, The Great Equalizer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/29/revolutionary-glovepie-v-30-the-great-equalizer/">Revolutionary: GlovePIE v.30, The Great Equalizer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Jan 2008 20:00:00 EST. Remember that <em>Street Fighter</em> film we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/30/chun-li-to-star-in-new-street-fighter-film/">heard about a while back</a>? Remember how we thought <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/09/rumor-jessica-biel-as-chun-li-in-street-fighter-flick/">Jessica Biel</a> might be playing the lead role of Chun Li? Well, it turns out it's <a href="http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=40381">Kristin Kreuk</a> instead, everybody's favorite Lana Lang.<br /><br />ComingSoon.net reports that the <em>Smallville</em> star has signed on to star in <em>Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li</em>, the live-action adaptation of Capcom's classic fighting franchise. Directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak, 20th Century Fox will be distributing the film, which begins filming in Thailand next March. Will Kreuk be able to fill Chun-Li's tiny shoes? And, more importantly, does she know how to perform the <em>Hyakuretsu Kyaku</em>? I guess we'll have to wait and see.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/24/smallvilles-kristin-kreuk-to-play-chun-li-in-new-street-fighter/">Smallville's Kristin Kreuk to play Chun Li in new Street Fighter flick</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Dec 2007 16:00:00 EST. This week GameTap hadoukens the Dreamcast version of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/15/street-fighter-iii-third-strike-on-gametap-dec-20/">Street Fighter III: Third Strike</a></em> onto the service. The game considered by many hardcore gamers as the last great 2D fighter is accessible for both PC and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/05/gametap-releases-new-player-now-with-full-mac-compatibility/">Mac users</a>. The new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gametapthursday">GameTap</a> titles this week (other than <span style="font-style: italic;">SFIII</span>) are the remains of the year.<br />

After the break we have GameTap's list of <a href="http://www.gametap.com/home/play/free.html">free games</a>. The new free game this week is <em>Texas Hold 'em</em> and is bolded for easy reference. There will be no GameTap update next week due to the holiday, with the next update on Jan. 3rd.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/20/gametap-thursday-street-fighter-3-third-strikes-out/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GameTap Thursday: Street Fighter III: Third Strike's out</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/20/gametap-thursday-street-fighter-3-third-strikes-out/">GameTap Thursday: Street Fighter III: Third Strike's out</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 Dec 2007 03:00:00 EST. <em>Street Fighter III: Third Strike</em> -- the greatest fighting game hardly anyone played -- makes its way to GameTap on Dec. 20. To the many who know the fine, detailed, beyond-minutia intricacies of fighting games, <em>SFIII: Third Strike</em> represents the <a href="http://www.gametap.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=49459&amp;#49459">last great 2D fighter</a>. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gametap">GameTap</a> has gotten hold of the Dreamcast version of the game, which means that both PC and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/05/gametap-releases-new-player-now-with-full-mac-compatibility/">Mac users</a> will have access.<br /><br />For those with specialty fighting sticks, GameTap supports a wide range of controllers and there's an <a href="http://kb.gametap.cust-serv.com/gametapkb/gametapKB/CONSUMER/esupport.asp?id=ee20d729-0d9a-4239-9cfe-1f847744299f&amp;resource=&amp;number=1&amp;isExternal=0&amp;nShowFacts=&amp;nShowCause=&amp;nShowChange=&amp;nShowAddInfo=&amp;activepage=statement.asp&amp;bForceMatch=&amp;strCurrentSymptom=&amp;searchtype=normal&amp;searchclass=&amp;bnewsession=false&amp;selecttype=match">official list available</a>, but many more work that aren't listed. The game will not support online play because neither did the Dreamcast version. So check out <em>SFIII: Third Strike</em> and join fighter aficionados everywhere in enjoying a vintage treat.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/15/street-fighter-iii-third-strike-on-gametap-dec-20/">Street Fighter III: Third Strike on GameTap Dec. 20</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 15 Dec 2007 11:00:00 EST. We'll spare you the suspense: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> will feature fully-3D graphics, but gameplay will be purely 2D, retaining the feel of the classic non-<em>EX</em> <em>Street Fighter</em> titles.<br /><br />Now that you can breathe again, we'll let you know that 1UP has scored the <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3164756">first exclusive details</a> on <em>Street Fighter IV</em>. The first publicized screenshot (above, and taken from the in-game engine) confirms the unique art direction for the sequel, as first hinted upon in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/25/gametrailers-breaks-down-street-fighter-iv-trailer/">teaser trailer</a>. 1UP reports that Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Dhalsim are all returning to the series, although a more complete character roster has not yet been revealed.<br /><br />Gameplay-wise, it's classic <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/streetfighter"><em>Street Fighter</em></a>, utilizing a six-button control scheme while introducing new moves, features, and locations to the repertoire. No word yet on which platforms the game is headed to, although we can certainly hazard a few guesses. Even more details on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/capcom">Capcom</a>'s latest fighter will be revealed in the January 2008 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, so keep your eyes peeled on the news stands.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/06/street-fighter-iv-first-details-revealed/">Street Fighter IV: first details revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 06 Dec 2007 05:55:00 EST. A massively-multiplayer online fighting game. Now why didn't we think of that? Korean company NeoWiz is beginning an open beta this month for <em>Perfect KO</em>, an MMO that allows players to customize avatars and pound on each other in typical fighting-game fashion.<br /><br />Insert Credit reports that <em>Street Fighter</em>'s <a href="http://www.insertcredit.com/archives/002109.html">Ken and Chun Li will be playable avatars in the game</a>, meaning that NeoWiz has struck some sort of licensing deal with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/capcom">Capcom</a> to give players access to these heavy-hitters. The company is also apparently not averse to inviting other licensed characters into the fray, which could make for some interesting match-ups. We're keeping our fingers crossed for Necrid.<br /><br />Check out some footage of the MMO in action after the break (the video's audio is NSFW due to the grating Linkin Park soundtrack).<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.massively.com/2007/12/03/ken-and-chun-li-coming-to-perfect-ko-mmog/">Massively</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/03/play-as-ken-and-chun-li-in-korean-mmo-fighting-game/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Play as Ken and Chun Li in Korean MMO fighting game</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/03/play-as-ken-and-chun-li-in-korean-mmo-fighting-game/">Play as Ken and Chun Li in Korean MMO fighting game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Dec 2007 19:59:00 EST. The webisode series <em>Street Fighter: The Later Years</em> has been going on for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/05/street-fighters-mop-and-drive-taxis-in-the-later-years/">quite some time</a>, but the <a href="http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1790841">latest entry</a> proves that the show's creators still have a knack for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/streetfighter"><em>Street Fighter</em></a> parody.<br /><br />Whether it's Dhalsim's unorthodox fighting methods, a poorly-aged Ken failing to perform his hidden fireball move, or Chun Li and Blanka caught in a... compromising position, <a href="http://www.collegehumor.com/tag:street-fighter-the-later-years"><em>The Later Years</em></a> still makes us laugh, even if we'll all be geezers by the time the series reaches its eventual conclusion.<br /><br />Check out episode six after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/27/todays-most-geriatric-video-yoga-noogie/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Today's most geriatric video: 'Yoga noogie!'</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/27/todays-most-geriatric-video-yoga-noogie/">Today's most geriatric video: 'Yoga noogie!'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Nov 2007 01:01:00 EST. In case you missed the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/StreetFighterIV/">Street Fighter IV</a></em> trailer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/capcom-announces-street-fighter-4/">that popped up</a> about a month ago, here's a quick summary: There was much punching, and quite a bit of kicking. Also, an obligatory Hadouken. Boom. We're on the same page -- or so it would seem. According to Capcom bigwig Christian Svennson, there are clues in the trailer revealing certain key aspects of SF4's gameplay (it still isn't known if the fighter will be 2D or 3D) and also, the location of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Goonies">One-Eyed Willie's treasure</a>.<br />
<br />
GameTrailers was kind enough to break the trailer down for those of us not well-versed enough in the series' mythos to catch the subtle hints. Watch it a few times, let us know your theories. <a href="http://www.sirlin.net">David Sirlin</a> knows fighting games. So when Capcom <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/new-street-fighter-2-hd-remix-details-at-capcom-gamers-day/">tapped him</a> to re-balance <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em>, and make it better than the original, they were putting the game's untarnished reputation into just the right hands. <br /><br />Sirlin proves his worth in the <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/542">first of a series of articles</a> on rebalancing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssf2hd"><em>Super Turbo HD</em></a>, revealing new details about the latest <em>Street Fighter II</em> sequel while discussing important decisions made to improve upon the game. Through it all, Sirlin emphasizes the need to retain and improve upon both the feel and the tournament-worthy status of what he considers to be the best in the series.<br /><br />In short, Sirlin discusses how he aims to make the game more approachable to a larger audience, while rebalancing each fighter to ensure that the title is perfected for tournament play. Purists need not worry: the HD remix will allow gamers to choose to play an unaltered, arcade-perfect version of the original <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo</em>, which uses the enhanced graphics and sounds but includes none of the rebalancing. The article's a good read for aspiring game designers, <em>Street Fighter</em> fanatics, or just fans of fighting games in general.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2007/11/rebalancing_super_street_fight.php">GameSetWatch</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/12/game-designer-talks-rebalancing-street-fighter-2-hd/">Game designer talks rebalancing Street Fighter 2 HD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Nov 2007 07:30:00 EST. When screenshots described as "work in progress" look this good, you know a game's headed in the right direction. It turns out that the version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssf2hd"><em>Super Street Fighter II: Turbo HD Remix</em></a> shown at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/new-street-fighter-2-hd-remix-details-at-capcom-gamers-day/">Capcom Gamer's Day in London</a> wasn't the most recent build available at the same. To make up for it, the developers decided to <a href="http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/digital.php/2007/10/23/sfhd_w_i_p_screenshots">post some screen-captures</a> of the game on their blog. The high-res images show off the Ryu and Ken sprites, two of the game's levels, and the character select screen.<br /><br />Peep <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/">the gallery </a>for more images.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1167186"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/sc1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110108"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110107"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-18_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110106"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110105"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/24/first-screens-show-street-fighter-2-hd-in-action-looking-good/">First screens show Street Fighter 2 HD in action, looking good</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 24 Oct 2007 12:55:00 EST. Putting out a bunch of really sexy, high-def images of your characters is a great start. Following it up with great pictures of stages is just as good. But when things are going that well, don't let your first video be an ugly, poorly-lit shaky cam clip.<br /><br />Here's a thought: What about capturing from the actual game? Sure, it's a few more wires to plug in, but isn't it worth it? See, when the whole point of your game is that it looks purty, you probably want a video that makes it look ... you know ... purty. As far as what we can see in this clip ... well, it looks like <em>Street Fighter.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/19/first-super-street-fighter-ii-hd-remix-video-is-underwhelming/">First Super Street Fighter II HD Remix video is underwhelming</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 19 Oct 2007 14:15:00 EST. David Sirlin, designer and competitive gamer extraordinaire, has updated his blog with a <a href="http://www.sirlin.net/archive/street-fighter-hd-remix-at-capcoms-gamers-day/">few new details</a> regarding <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em>. Apparently, amidst all the hoopla surrounding the announcement of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/capcom-announces-street-fighter-4/">Street Fighter IV</a>, we've overlooked the fact that <em>SF2HD</em> was actually playable(!) at Capcom Gamer's Day in London, albeit with only Ken and Ryu selectable.<br /><br /><em>SF2HD</em> is newly re-balanced from the original, and features "tons of changes" according to Sirlin. The HD remix will also now include support for widescreen 16:9, and feature remixed music. And, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-for-xbla-announced/">as originally hoped</a>, included in the package will be an arcade-perfect version of <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo</em>, with no changes made. <br /><br />In order to achieve the best online fighting experience possible, Capcom is attempting to duplicate (rather than license) the networking technology of <a href="http://ggpo.net/online/">GGPO</a>, which attempts to streamline online gameplay in fighting games for the least lag possible. Sirlin himself is a game designer currently hard at work balancing the gameplay of <em>SF2HD</em>, so when he says it's looking great, he would know.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/new-street-fighter-2-hd-remix-details-at-capcom-gamers-day/">New Street Fighter 2 HD Remix details at Capcom Gamer's Day</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Oct 2007 16:57:00 EST. According to <a href="http://www.gamesradar.com/gb/xbox360/game/news/article.jsp?sectionId=1006&amp;articleId=2007101714511031010&amp;releaseId=20060321132945404017">Games Radar</a>, a Capcom Gamer's Day event in London has revealed a brand new (and not entirely unexpected) entry in the seminal 2D fighting franchise, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/streetfighter"><em>Street Fighter</em></a>. Most notably, this new entry increases the numeral at the end of the title as opposed to the number of <em>Super Hyper Ultra</em> adjectives at the start. <br /><br />Not much is known about <em>Street Fighter IV</em> at present, save for the fact that its release is more than a year away. Other things you can likely expect while we wait for more details and media to arrive: Ken and Ryu in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/27/cammy-see-more-ssfiithdr-characters/">HD</a>, <em>Hadoukens</em> and extremely pithy <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/23/chun-li-cries-the-pain-of-loss-away/">victory remarks</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/capcom-announces-street-fighter-4/">Capcom announces Street Fighter IV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Oct 2007 11:15:00 EST. It's been a long time since we've seen new characters from <span style="font-style: italic;">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</span>, but today we've got Cammy above and M. Bison after the break. This all comes on the heels of Capcom asking for people to submit their vote in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/14/street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-achievement-poll/">Achievement Poll</a> for the game. <br /><br />There really isn't much to say on this art except that if you could please stop staring at Cammy's crotch for five seconds and finish the story you'll notice that we've got this neat little link here to all our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithd/">previous coverage</a>. Still no word on a release date, but apparently the <a href="http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/digital.php/2007/09/26/p508#more508">online development</a> is coming along fine.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/09/27/ssfiithdr-sprite-watch-cammy-and-m-bison/">X3F</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/27/cammy-see-more-ssfiithdr-characters/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>'Cammy' see more SSFIITHDR characters?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/27/cammy-see-more-ssfiithdr-characters/">'Cammy' see more SSFIITHDR characters?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 Sep 2007 17:45:00 EST. The polls are now open at the Capcom blog to vote for the <em>Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em> achievements. Like we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/23/super-sf-ii-turbo-hd-remix-achievement-open-call/">reported back in July</a>, Capcom asked for suggestions on what the achievements should be in <em>SFIITHDR</em>. It appears Capcom <a href="http://www.capcom.com/BBS/showthread.php?t=18899">chose seven suggestions</a> and posted them for the world to vote on (with proper registration at the Capcom site). The possible achievements are:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Beat Akuma (arcade mode)</li>
    <li>Win with every character in an Online Ranked Match</li>
    <li>5 Perfect Rounds in Ranked Online Matches</li>
    <li>5 Perfect Rounds in Story Mode (Any Difficulty Level)</li>
    <li>Defeat an opponent in under 15(?) seconds, Arcade Mode</li>
    <li>Perform a 7-hit combo or higher (any mode, including training)</li>
    <li>Defeat Sagat with Ryu's fierce dragon punch (any mode)</li>
</ul>
We kinda like all of them, hopefully beyond this publicity stunt Capcom may keep them all in. Capcom is also taking suggestions at the site for the achievements' actual names. With any luck they'll sprinkle some inside joke achievements in for the hardcore. So far this game really has done a great job with the <a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2007/07/19/ps3-fanboy-interview-udon-comics-and-street-fighter/">community outreach</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/14/street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-achievement-poll/">Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix achievement poll</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Sep 2007 17:15:00 EST. Variety is <a href="http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117971368.html?categoryid=13&amp;cs=1">reporting</a> that one helping of live-action <em>Street Fighter</em> just wasn't enough, Hollywood is going to try again. Hyde Park Entertainment and Capcom have signed on Andrzej Bartkowiak to direct a new movie of <em>Street Fighter</em> ... but here's where it actually gets good. Variety says his credits include <em>Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds</em> and <em>Cradle to the Grave</em>. What they fully neglect to mention is that Bartkowiak directed another video game-based movie: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2005/10/20/doom-movie-review-the-worst-of-both-worlds/"><em>DOOM</em>!</a><br /><br />Yes, the man who directed <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0419706/"><em>DOOM</em></a> is going to helm the new <em>Street Fighter</em> movie, which will apparently follow Chun Li on a "journey for justice." Can't you just feel <em>The Darkness </em>swelling up inside of you to stop this? The original <em>Street Fighter</em> movie starring Jean-Claude "muscles from Brussels" Van Damme earned $33 million. It also starred Raul Julia (<em>Addams Family</em> movies, <em>Kiss of the Spider Woman</em>) in one of his last roles ever -- that was the real tragedy. Hyde Park just finished a couple movies you will probably never hear of. Place your bets now if this <em>Street Fighter </em>movie will actually be worse than the original, which would seriously be an accomplishment.<br /><br />[Thanks Ben]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/06/new-street-fighter-movie-by-doom-director/">New Street Fighter movie helmed by Doom director</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 06 Sep 2007 18:55:00 EST. What's your favorite <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/31/miyamoto-hints-at-new-nintendo-franchise-in-2008/">franchise</a> on Nintendo consoles? You've got your <em>Mario, Zelda,</em> and<em> Metroid</em>, obviously, but there's also <em>Sonic</em>, <em>Resident Evil</em>, <em>Mega Man, Street Fighter</em>, and years and years of other series throughout history. This years line-up consists of <em>Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Hyper Anniversary, King of Fighters 98, Melty Blood: Act Cadenza, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, Arcana Heart, Virtua Fighter 5, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection and Soul Calibur III: Arcade Edition</em>.<br /><br />"Competitive gaming" may be a dirty word to some, but unlike the spoiled brats that make up the "professional" scene, the players of the fighting game community tend to keep it real with no sponsors to foot their bills or debatable endorsements to pimp out. The players that make up Team USA are the winners of this years <a href="http://evo2k.com">EVO</a> regional tournaments. Their reward? A trip to Japan to compete in SBO and a chance to bring it to them before they bring it back to us later this month at the EVO world finals. We're rooting for you, boys.<br /><br />Today's videos are the 2006 finals for some of the returning Super Battle Opera games. While <a href="http://icanhascheezburger.com/">cats</a> are no longer funny and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sK3AqFYAWQ">Rick Astley</a> has been banished from the Internet, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touhou_Project#Perfect_Cherry_Blossom"><em>Perfect Cherry Blossom</em></a> remixes continue to be pumped out by Japanese users. The loosely translated and remixed <a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=acGqB59YMQU">boss theme</a>, "Marisa Stole the Precious Thing," has been applied to everything from <em>Super Mario World</em> hacks to Lucky ? <ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.gametap.com/home/play/gameDetails/120079750"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo</em></a> (Arcade) - Arguably the greatest fighting game ever conceived, <em>Super Turbo</em> is the craft of 2D fighting defined. Even after more than a decades worth of competitive play, <em>ST</em> still enjoys a worldwide following and for one very good reason: it's the best ... <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fua0g13djo">the best around</a>.</li>
    <li><a href="http://www.gametap.com/home/play/gameDetails/120079850">S<em>treet Fighter Alpha 2</em></a> (Arcade) - Also known as "the good one" in the series, <em>Alpha 2</em> shuns its awkward siblings with its extremely solid mechanics and well balanced cast. It also gave us the incredible drama of the <a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=iB5IwNrHj4g">B3 finals</a> back in 1996.</li>
    <li><a href="http://www.gametap.com/home/play/gameDetails/000480750"><em>Bloodrayne 2</em></a> (PC) - This is the one <em>with</em> pole dance fighting.</li>

<div align="left">Capcom is looking for your input into what the achievements should be for the Xbox 360 version of <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em> - did we get the whole title in there? Capcom wants you to put your <a href="http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/digital.php/2007/07/23/you_decide_achievements">suggestions in the comment thread of their post on the issue</a>. You can feel free to make suggestions below too, but we're not forwarding them to Capcom.<br /><br />Of course, hardcore <em>Street Fighter II</em> players looking forward to <a href="http://ssfiithd"><em>SSFIITHDR</em></a> are making suggestions like getting five perfects in a row or having a five to eight chain combo. We're still looking to achieve basic things like Zangief's pile driver, or for those seeking an even more basic achievement - just pull off a shoryuken. Capcom says they'll take the suggestions on August 1st and start sifting through them, then they'll take the ones that are actually technologically possible and send it back out to the community for voting. Come on shoryuken achievement!</div>

Everything old is new again. The internet has been abuzz ever since the first sprites from Capcom's upcoming HD Remix of <em>Super Street Fighter II</em> were publicly released. The art, created by Udon, looks absolutely spectacular. We interviewed Jim Zubkavich, Artist and Project Manager at <a href="http://www.udonentertainment.com/">Udon</a>, about their collaboration with Capcom.<br /><br /><strong>How did Udon and Capcom first team up?</strong><br />UDON began in 2000 as a team creating illustration/design artwork for comic book or toy manufacturing clients. After a couple years getting established, we decided to publish our own comic books. One of the first ideas that came to mind was creating comics based on licenses that all of us enjoyed growing up. At the top of that list was Capcom's <em>Street Fighter</em> property. After some negotiation and art samples sent back and forth, Capcom allowed UDON to create a new full color comic series that debuted in the summer of 2003. When the comic series began we would just send Capcom the script and artwork for approval each month. Eventually our relationship with Capcom grew stronger and they started communicating with us more frequently about the franchise and the strength of our artists.<br /><br />In 2004, after the debut of our <em>Darkstalkers </em>comic series and translation of the <em>Eternal Challenge Street Fighter</em> artbook were well received, Capcom approached us about contributing artwork to their <em>Fighting Jam</em> video game. In turn, that strengthened the bond between the two companies even more. At each step we've strived to show Capcom how much we respect their properties and how much we enjoy being a part of their creative process.<br /><br />With the 20th anniversary of <em>Street Fighter</em> coming in 2008, Capcom wanted us to be a part of the festivities. The high definition re-release of <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo</em> is something we're very proud to be contributing to.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/19/ps3-fanboy-interview-udon-comics-and-street-fighter/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PS3 Fanboy interview: Udon Comics and Street Fighter</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/19/ps3-fanboy-interview-udon-comics-and-street-fighter/">PS3 Fanboy interview: Udon Comics and Street Fighter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Jul 2007 10:00:00 EST. In the picture above you can see a total of three new themes with the top two being the boys and girls of <em>Street Fighter</em> while the blade color coded version on the bottom is a collage of the fighters. Brian also mentioned that there will be one <em>SPFIITHDR</em> picture pack that will include eleven gamer pictures. No pricing or street dates for these or the Arcade game have been announced other than the infamous "soon" time frame.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/16/capcom-sneak-peak-of-spfiithdr-themes/">Capcom sneak peak of SPFIITHDR themes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Jul 2007 17:00:00 EST.
