Before the <em>Super Turbo Hyper BBQ HD Ultra Mega Remixes</em> there was just plain ol' <em>Street Fighter 2</em>, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this month. <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/jgonzo/blog/2011/03/02/happy_20th_birthday,_street_fighter_ii">Capcom</a> posted a birthday reminder for its classic fighter, which was born two decades ago in the arcades (remember those?).<br />
<br />
Since 1991, <em>Street Fighter 2</em> has seen six <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_II#Arcade_release_history">arcade iterations</a> and <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Street_Fighter_video_games#Street_Fighter_II_series">near countless</a></em> ports across consoles, PCs and handhelds (<a href="http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Tiger/Tiger-StreetFighter2.jpg">Tiger even</a>!). Chances are you've played the game a time or two ... and had your pixelated butt unceremoniously handed to you.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/03/street-fighter-2-turns-20/">Street Fighter 2 turns 20</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Mar 2011 11:20:00 EST. Make all the snide jokes you like about the Xbox 360's less-than-stellar sales in Japan, it's hard to dispute that the country's development community is helping to fuel the console in a different way. As Microsoft just brought to attendees' collective attention at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/15/microsoft-tgs-2010-liveblog/">its TGS presser</a>, five of the six top-selling games on Xbox Live Arcade originate in Japan.<br />
<br />
Great news for the Land of the Rising Fun, but it sort of casts the service in a less-than-flattering light considering that the games (<em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em>, <em>Street Fighter 2</em>, <em>Super Street Fighter 2 HD Turbo Remix</em>, <em>Bomberman Live </em>and <em>Castlevania: Symphony of the Night</em>) are all either ports or remakes of fairly old games.<br />
<br />
Oh, and before you ask: We're not sure what the lone US holdout is, but we're pulling for either <em>Yaris </em>or <em>Soltrio Solitaire</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/16/five-of-xblas-top-six-sellers-are-japanese/">Five of XBLA's top six sellers are Japanese</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Sep 2010 02:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2010/03/23/xbox-live-marketplace-release-schedule-march-23.aspx">Major Nelson</a> has dropped a new <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/xblm">Xbox Live Marketplace</a> schedule for the remainder of March and beginning of April and, while we knew about most of the major releases already, there's still some surprises to be found. First, the next two weeks will see some nice Deal of the Week promotions, with <em>Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram</em> falling to 800<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($10) and <em>Geometry Wars 2</em> dropping to a paltry 400<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($5).<br />
<br />
Beyond that, Xbox Live Silver members will also be able to enjoy free Xbox Live Gold -- including online multiplayer, Netflix, last.fm, Facebook and Twitter -- from noon ET on April 1 through noon ET on April 5. And, as if all that wasn't enough, Major announced that ten Xbox Live Arcade games will go on sale from April 1 through April 7. The full list of games hasn't been announced, though it will include <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em>, <em>South Park</em> and <em>Defense Grid</em>. Check out the full Xbox Live schedule after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/23/xbox-live-march-schedule-free-xbox-live-gold-xbla-sale/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Xbox Live March schedule: Free Xbox Live Gold, XBLA sale</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/23/xbox-live-march-schedule-free-xbox-live-gold-xbla-sale/">Xbox Live March schedule: Free Xbox Live Gold, XBLA sale</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Mar 2010 13:47:00 EST. Basically, if you don't find something for you this week on the PlayStation Network, you probably don't own a PlayStation console.<br />

While it's true that the high-rolling blogging lifestyle has left us out-of-touch with the needs of the unwashed masses, even the fat cats at Joystiq understand that everyone loves a deal (if only to free up some much needed capital for, let's say, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Joystiq-Publishing">chronically underfunded game publishing division</a>). <br />
<br />
To help lighten the burden on your wallets, Capcom is offering the following: 50% off a single PSN game every week for five weeks, beginning with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Marvel-vs-Capcom-2/"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em></a>. In total you could scoop up all five games for just under $30 and, since this is a 50% off sale, that also means you'll have saved just under $30. That's <em>math</em>. We've pasted the full list below for you to mull over:<br />
<br />
February 18, 2010 - Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for $7.49<br />
February 25, 2010 - Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for $7.49<br />
March 4, 2010 - Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for $4.99<br />
March 11, 2010 - Age of Booty for $4.99<br />
March 18, 2010 - 1942: Joint Strike for $4.99<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/18/capcom-offers-50-off-five-psn-games-this-week-marvel-vs-capc/">Capcom offers 50% off five PSN games; this week: Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Feb 2010 09:05:00 EST. Later, Capcom announced and released a port of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2"><em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em></a> over the course of a few months, with filters on the original sprites. Guess which one sold better?<br />
<br />
"We have three titles that have drastically over-performed our expectations," Capcom's VP of strategic planning and business development Christian Svensson told <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/christian-svensson-part-two-interview">GamesIndustry.biz</a>. "The most recent of which was <em>Marvel vs Capcom 2</em>, which we didn't expect to exceed <em>Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix'</em>s numbers, but it has."<br />
<br />
One IP that hasn't quite exceeded Capcom's expectations in the west is Monster Hunter. The company is working to turn that around with events like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/19/capcom-schools-monster-hunter-tri-rookies-unsure-about-wii-spea/">Monster Hunter Tri University</a> designed to familiarize press with the workings of the series. "We are strategically investing in the brand in the West," Svensson explained, "because we know that as a company we're going to continue to be creating Monster Hunter content, so it behooves us to do what it takes to make it stick here." In other words, Japanese sales ensure that Capcom is going to continue making the things, so Capcom might as well try to sell them outside of Japan as well.<br />

We're sure everyone likes the redrawn, high definition art featured in <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithdr"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a>, but did you know that <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/udon">Udon</a> also redrew the original <em>SSFII</em> intro sequence? It's true, and <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/jgonzo/blog/2009/11/03/udons_unused_super_street_fighter_ii_turbo_hd_remix_intro">Capcom Unity</a> has the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UP72_3ApUY8&amp;feature=player_embedded">video</a> to prove it. After the break, you'll find the intro movie that Udon created, though it never made it into the actual game. The video features Ryu doing his fireball thing, while Chun-Li poses and Cammy (for some reason) gives everyone a raspberry. Watch the redrawn trailer and the original after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/03/the-street-fighter-ii-hd-remix-intro-that-never-was/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Street Fighter II HD Remix intro that never was</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/03/the-street-fighter-ii-hd-remix-intro-that-never-was/">The Street Fighter II HD Remix intro that never was</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Nov 2009 16:05:00 EST. In what will assuredly be the longest headline for any <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/deal-of-the-week">Xbox Live Deal of the Week</a> post we'll ever run, Microsoft's offering a $5 reduction in price (from 1200<img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> to 800<img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" />) on Capcom's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a> this week. <br /><br />That's right, folks -- you're reading this correctly. We're on the second week straight that the Xbox Live Deal of the Week was something worthwhile and not, say, <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/05/18/ancient-marvel-ultimate-alliance-dlc-is-deal-of-the-week/">DLC from a three year old game</a> or, <em>erm</em>, <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/03/09/xbox-live-deal-of-the-week-pgr4-challenge-pack-dlc/">DLC from a two year old game</a>. We're not quite sure that <em>the big M</em> and Xbox Live are giving Steam a run for its money with deals quite yet, but we are plopping down our virtual bucks that much more frequently on the service as of late. Here's hoping that we'll keep seeing <em>tasty deals</em> like this rather than some of the ... ahem ... <em>less than savory</em> items we've seen in the past.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/22/xblm-deal-of-the-week-super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/">XBLM Deal of the Week: Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 22 Jun 2009 15:45:00 EST. The site lets players view plenty of stats that aren't available on the regular leaderboard, including ranking, rating, wins, losses and perfects. It even tracks the number of throws and projectiles used. Stats can be viewed for all characters combined or for individual characters, and you can also compare your stats with another player.<br /><br />Finally, you can prove to all your friends that they're nothing but turtling, fireball spamming <em>jerks</em>. FYI, it seems like the server is getting hammered by stat fiends right now, as we've been unable to bring up our own stats all day.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/jimmyrey/blog/2009/04/20/sfhd_remix_stats_site_is_finally_up_and_fully_running">Capcom Unity</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/21/sfii-hd-stats-site-up-and-running-also-punching/">SFII HD stats site up and running (also punching)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 Apr 2009 18:00:00 EST. The rough-and-tumble Street Fighters enjoying their youth is likely the most adorable thing we'll see all week. Kei Acedera, an illustrator and art director at <a href="http://www.imaginismstudios.com/">Imaginism</a>, has just such a drawing in <a href="http://www.imaginismstudios.com/our-art/kei-acedera?nggpage=6">her portfolio</a> on the company's website. If you click the image above, you'll be treated to the full work, which also includes the rest of the <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix">Super Street Fighter II Turbo</a></em> cast cheering in the background (Dhalsim's long arms were a nice touch).<br /><br />Acedera's work includes illustrating books for Harper Collins and design work for Disney and Sony. Her bio also states she makes t-shirts for her guinea pig, Tobi. We wonder if she puts little pants on Tobi and dyes him so he looks like the little Blanka in the picture ...<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://threespeech.com/blog/2009/04/street-fighter-kids/">ThreeSpeech</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/07/cutest-thing-youll-see-today-street-fighter-kids/">Cutest thing you'll see today: Street Fighter kids</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Apr 2009 11:00:00 EST. <span style="font-style: italic;">Castle Crashers</span> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/24/castle-crashers-title-update-now-available-finally/">recovered</a> from a 4-month gimp to be crowned the Xbox Live Arcade "Game of the Year" in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/26/xbox-live-arcade-awards-voting-kicks-off-march-3/">second annual</a> community voting awards. Somewhat surprisingly, <span style="font-style: italic;">Castle Crashers</span> also managed to nab "Best Co-op Mode" despite being virtually unplayable online for four out of its seven months in release. On its way to top honors, The Behemoth's beat-em-up notably <span style="font-style: italic;">beat</span> out its fellow indie nominee, <span style="font-style: italic;">Braid,</span> which was famously <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/soulja-boy-tells-em-about-braid/">dismissed</a> by an American youth spokesperson.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Braid's</span> losing streak continued in the "Best Single Player Game" category, which was claimed by <em>Orange Box</em> cutout <em>Portal: Still Alive</em> (oh right, it has "exclusive" challenge maps), but Jonathan Blow's <em>timeless</em> effort did mange to win "Best Innovation" amid stiff competition. (We were certain<span style="font-style: italic;"> Kefling's</span> innovative "use of Avatars" was a shoo-in.)<br /><br />The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/23/xbla-awards-braid-cant-rewind-loss-to-castle-crashers/#winners">complete list</a> of awards and recipients is posted after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/23/xbla-awards-braid-cant-rewind-loss-to-castle-crashers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>XBLA Awards: Braid can't rewind loss to Castle Crashers</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/23/xbla-awards-braid-cant-rewind-loss-to-castle-crashers/">XBLA Awards: Braid can't rewind loss to Castle Crashers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Mar 2009 18:52:00 EST. Capcom's talking about HD remixing some more titles following the <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/12/18/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-sells-250k-units/">success</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a>. Capcom VP Christian Svensson tells <a href="http://www.videogamer.com/news/capcom_were_not_done_with_hd_remixes.html">VideoGamer</a> that not every game needs it, but the company is going to "potentially" apply the formula to other fighting games in the company's catalog. Next time, however, it plans do it "better, based on what [it] learned" -- which we'll take to mean <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-for-xbla-announced/">cutting down development time</a>.<br /><br />When asked if <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2">Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a></em> would be HD-ified, Svensson commented that it's probably the title fans request the most, but he has no news to share about that. We know retro <em>Mega Man</em> is <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/mega-man-9">en vogue</a>, but an HD remix of <em>Mega Man 2</em> could be interesting.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1167186"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/sc1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110108"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110107"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-18_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110106"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110105"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/12/capcom-not-done-with-hd-remixing/">Capcom not done with HD Remixing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Mar 2009 17:30:00 EST. European PS3 fans are still without <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em>. In spite of its tremendous success, it doesn't appear our friends across the Atlantic will get their hands on the game any time soon. According to <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/street-fighter-hd-euro-ps3-date-nears">Edge</a>, the game is certainly not coming before the end of the year. "All indications point to a Q1 release for the title," although they note that it should be "earlier" than later.<br /><br />"There are reasons why we can't always release games when we want to, but we are working hard on getting the game out as soon as possible," a Capcom spokesperson explained. Well, honestly -- we're wondering what the reasons are. Do we blame Capcom? Sony? Or do we blame <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grinch">the Grinch</a> for stealing <em>Street Fighter</em> away from Europe?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/19/street-fighter-hd-not-coming-to-europe-until-2009/">Street Fighter HD not coming to Europe until 2009</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 19 Dec 2008 10:15:00 EST. <div align="left">Why is Ryu showing us his pearly whites and giving us a thumbs up? That's because Capcom has just announced they have sold an impressive 250,000 copies of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a> across the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A breakdown of the sales numbers between the two consoles was not released. The game was released on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/super-street-fighter-ii-hd-remix-and-free-exclusive-soundtrack-c/">November 25th</a>, so it hasn't even been a month since its debut. According to Capcom, it also broke both day one and week one sales records, and it will "most likely" go on to break the 30-days sales record as well. It might even become the highest grossing digital title ever.<br /><br />What did you expect? Capcom took an old-school favorite, improved upon it, and unleashed it onto all the <em>SF</em> fanboys. <em>Street Fighter</em> forever!</div>

If you've been playing (deep breath) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithdr"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a> lately, chances are you've been positively <em>rocking out</em> to the revamped soundtrack. As it turns out, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Capcom/">Capcom</a> actually partnered with <a href="http://ocremix.org">Overclocked Remix</a>, a website that specializes in remixing game music, to create the soundtrack for <em>SSFIITHDR</em>. Gamers from all over the planet supplied the tracks for the soundtrack, and now OC Remix is <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/s-kill/blog/2008/12/03/complete_sf_hd_remix_soundtrack_free_from_ocremix">giving away the entire soundtrack</a> for free. That's precisely <em>zero</em> dollars. The soundtrack is being offered both as a full album download and as individual MP3s of each track. <div align="left">This Thanksgiving I want to give the bulk of my thanks to one company for helping me answer a question that has been bothering me for over 15 years. The company? <a id="fh8q" href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/capcom" title="Capcom">Capcom</a>. The question? Put simply, do I really have preternatural <a id="e8ex" href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter/" title="Street Fighter">Street Fighter</a> skills?<br /><br />I still remember the first time I saw a SF2 arcade machine. It was at <strike><a id="c3ja" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjHqERGApv4" title="Walley World">Walley World</a> </strike> Six Flags Magic Mountain in the Spring of 1991, and the first character I chose was Dhalsim. The inspired lovechild of Iyengar and Reed Richards got me hooked and my freshman year of high school was a non-stop deluge of fierces, roundhouses, and quarters. There was no practice mode, no free play, and no internet to turn to for tips and tricks. Becoming a BAMF in a fighting game back then took nonstop on-the-job training. And I trained well - so well, in fact, that I soon ran out of people willing to sacrifice their money for my amusement. Even when the home version arrived my friends soon tired of me whupping on them. Being able to defeat them with my eyes closed probably didn't help. The thought of being a big fish in a small pond never occurred to me. All I knew was that I had a gift and no one could prove me wrong.* Would that natural talent hold up if I ever faced real competition?<br /><br /></div>

After its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/14/capcoms-four-new-xbla-titles/">official announcement well over a year ago</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithdr"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a> is finally landing on Xbox Live Arcade. For the always controversial price of 1200 Microsoft Points, you get a completely redrawn cast of characters and a while slew of reworked backgrounds. Let's not forget the game comes with some revamped tunes as well. Oh, and of course there's the (reportedly) improved netcode too, which will hopefully smooth out those online wrinkles.<br /><br />Go <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802584108a4/">get the trial game</a> and tell us what you think. Blessed be this day, for soon we may never have to type out "<a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a>" again. Optimistically, it's just this PSN post, maybe one tomorrow about the Xbox 360 version on XBLA, and hopefully one more after that when Capcom finally <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/25/street-fighter-hd-delayed-for-european-psn/">announces the PSN European release</a>. <br /><br />What certainly should not be overlooked in today's <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/11/25/playstation-store-update-62/">update</a> is the PSN price promotion that offers excellent titles like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pixeljunk-eden"><span style="font-style: italic;">PixelJunk Eden</span></a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/echochrome"><span style="font-style: italic;">echochrome</span></a> at a measly $5 -- for a limited time! Capcom has confirmed that <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a> has been <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/street-fighter-hd-delayed-uk-psn">delayed</a> for the European PSN. There is currently no official release date for the title in the region and no explanation was given for the hold up. <br /><br />North America is still expected to get the title today with its special Tuesday edition of the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/psn-thursday">PSN update</a> (due to the Thanksgiving holiday). European Xbox 360 owners should still be able to pick up the game when it launches on XBLA tomorrow.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-10-21-08/">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (10/21/08)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-10-21-08/#1110108"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-10-21-08/#1110107"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-18_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-10-21-08/#1110106"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-10-21-08/#1110105"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-10-21-08/#1110104"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Via <a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/11/25/street-fighter-hd-without-a-release-date-in-europe/#comments">PS3 Fanboy</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/25/street-fighter-hd-delayed-for-european-psn/">Street Fighter HD delayed for European PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 Nov 2008 13:00:00 EST. While <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/super-street-fighter-ii-hd-remix-and-free-exclusive-soundtrack-c/">US gamers</a> will be able to enjoy <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em> on PlayStation Network today, Europeans will not be as lucky. For reasons unknown, Capcom's 2D fighter has no set released date across the Atlantic. That means our European readers are going to have to make a stealth attack on the American PlayStation Store, or they'll have to buy the game on Xbox LIVE Arcade -- the game will be on Microsoft's console tomorrow in Europe.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/25/street-fighter-hd-without-a-release-date-in-europe/">Street Fighter HD without a release date in Europe </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 Nov 2008 09:18:00 EST. <div align="left">Now that we have a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/capcoms-screenshot-reveals-street-fighter-hd-remix-release-date/">release date</a>, Capcom decided it to be the opportune time to <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/11/20/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-cometh/">announce the pricing</a> for remake <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithdr"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a>. Deep breath, because it isn't cheap.<br /></div>
</div>
<br />According to Capcom's John Dianomon, <em>SSFIITHDR </em>will release to the Playstation 3's PSN for (drum roll) $14.99. True, this isn't an official price announcement for <em>Street Fighter</em> on the XBLA, but unless Capcom decides to sell it for a different price on each network, we think it's a safe bet that <em>Street Fighter </em>will cost Xbox gamers 1200 Microsoft points. A bit expensive, but re-drawing old sprites is no cheap task.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/56026">Shacknews</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/21/street-fighter-ii-hd-pricing-semi-announced/">Street Fighter II HD pricing semi-announced </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Nov 2008 08:45:00 EST. <div align="left">Either intentionally or unintentionally, Capcom announced (<a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/55985">using a screenshot</a>, no less) that November 26th is the release date for their upcoming XBLA release <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithdr"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a>.<br /></div>

<br />Yes sir, in their press release regarding the new NXE <em>Street Fighter</em> "branded destination experience", they included a screenshot that spills the release date beans. The screen grab (seen above) explicitly says that <em>SSFIITHDR </em>will be "Coming Nov 26 to Xbox LIVE Arcade" ... pretty cut and dry, eh?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/capcoms-screenshot-reveals-street-fighter-hd-remix-release-date/">Capcom's screenshot reveals Street Fighter HD Remix release date</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Nov 2008 15:00:00 EST. <div align="left">Capcom has just announced that a "branded experience" for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithdr"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a> will launch tomorrow on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/new-xbox-experience">New Xbox Experience</a> and, in doing so, may have given away the release date of the much-awaited game. An official screenshot of the themed Marketplace section prominently lists Wednesday, Nov. 26 as the day the game will launch.<br /><br />It's already known that the game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/03/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hdr-finished-submitted-targeted/">has been submitted</a> to both Microsoft and Sony for final approval. The <em>SSFIITHDR </em>section of the XBLM will contain downloads related to the game, including the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/06/xblas-pinball-fx-getting-street-fighter-theme/">recent <em>SSFIIT</em> theme for <em>Pinball FX</em></a> and both free and premium NXE themes, the latter featuring "extensive high-definition graphical layers that take over your Dashboard."<br /><br />Capcom <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/11/capcoms-psn-storefront-opening-on-nov-13/">recently launced</a> a branded storefront on PSN's PlayStation Store, which is where - should its release fall in step with the 360's - the PS3 version of <em>SSFIITHDR</em> could go live on Nov. 27. We've contacted Capcom for comment. </div>

<p>Remember <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em>? Remember how it was supposed to come out this summer? Yeah, guess that didn't happen. The team at Capcom and Udon Comics have been working very hard in tweaking the game, making sure the visuals are smoother than ever. Check out this new trailer, which takes the "retro vibe" that Capcom's going for, and punches you in the face with it.</p>

Now, now, before you guys get all up in arms about any possible <em>changes</em> that are coming to the HD remake of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo</em></a>, hear us out. Apparently, Capcom will be applying changes to each of your favorite characters in hopes of rebalancing the gameplay. Just be aware these <strike>desecrations</strike> rebalances are optional and you can feel free to switch back to original mode if you don't like them. <br /><br />Looking at the list, Ryu has one change: a fake Hadoken has been added to his arsenal. Other characters have over ten changes -- all of them are after the jump. Lastly, if you are having trouble comprehending the list, you are probably not hardcore enough to care what these changes are anyway.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/16/list-of-changes-coming-to-super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>List of changes coming to Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/16/list-of-changes-coming-to-super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/">List of changes coming to Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Oct 2008 13:30:00 EST. <div align="left">PS3 fans haven't heard any news in regards to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/super-street-fighter"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em></a> in a long, long time. Xbox 360 owners had <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/hd-street-fighter-ii-beta-no-shows-psn-still-looks-great-though/">a chance to participate in the beta</a>, but it was <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2008/06/26/sf-beta-has-issues-but-no-patch-will-be-released/">plagued with problems that were never fixed</a>, if that makes you feel any better. The lack of news has lead some to conclude the game has been delayed; but fear not, in an interview with <a href="http://streetfighterblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/street-fighter-blog-interviews-rey.html">The Street Fighter Blog</a>, associate producer Rey Jimenez reveals the game is on track for a 2008 release. "We're on track to release the game this year and barring any unforeseen catastrophic event, that should not be changing." He also told <em>SF</em> fans to expect an announcement of the exact release date shortly.<br /><br />Other elements covered in the interview range from the possibility extra characters via DLC (not happening) to whether the fighters will have their original colors selectable (yes, they will be). The entire interview can be read <a href="http://streetfighterblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/street-fighter-blog-interviews-rey.html">here</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.capcomdigital.com/blog/2008/09/15/super_street_fighter_ii_turbo_hd_remix_producer_interview">Capcom Digital</a>]</div>

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithdr/"><em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em>'s</a> recently <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/25/super-street-fighter-ii-hd-beta-gets-time-extension/">extended</a> "open beta" got a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/22/capcom-patching-ssfiithdr-open-beta-after-all/">technical hadouken</a> this morning, addressing a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/27/super-street-fighter-ii-hd-beta-borked-but-fun/">number of the issues</a> faced by the redrawn brawler, from connection lapses to frozen consoles. Other changes include Ken's newly-nerfed dragon punch, while Capcom says that the overall online experience has seen around a 50% improvement. <br /><br />Notes <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/jimmyrey/blog/2008/08/07/sf_hd_remix_open_beta_patch_is_up_today">a post on the company's blog,</a> "While we can't do anything about high ping times, we've optimized the gameplay experience so that it's less noticeable and smoother," some of which can be seen <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/avidmarxist/blog/2008/07/24/sfii_beta_patch_in_action">in video form here</a>. Still, those pining for more characters to pummel will be left wanting. According to Capcom, adding additional fighters was "technically not possible for the patch." We'll just have to wait until we get our thumbs on the full game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/27/cammy-see-more-ssfiithdr-characters/">to get our Cammy on</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/08/street-fighter-ii-hd-beta-gets-bandaged/">Street Fighter II HD beta gets bandaged</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Aug 2008 15:15:00 EST. The <span style="font-style: italic;">Super Street Fighter II Turbo Hyper Deluxe Your Mom HD Remix</span> beta <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/25/super-street-fighter-insert-rest-here-beta-begins-today/">started yesterday</a> and, for those who just can't bring themselves to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-beta-starts-june-25/">buy <span style="font-style: italic;">Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</span></a>, we've placed some videos of what the beta looks like after the break. Although we received numerous complaints yesterday that the beta wasn't working properly, this seems a good a time as any to link the definition: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#Beta">Beta</a>. For those who are playing the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithd/" style="font-style: italic;">SSFIITHDR</a> beta -- and actually have it working properly -- what do you think?<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/26/check-out-video-of-street-fighter-ii-hd-xbla-beta/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Check out video of Street Fighter II HD XBLA beta</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/26/check-out-video-of-street-fighter-ii-hd-xbla-beta/">Check out video of Street Fighter II HD XBLA beta</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Jun 2008 10:15:00 EST. Just in case you've completely forgotten why you <em>really</em> bought <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/commando-3/">Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</a></em> on Xbox Live Arcade in the first place, allow us to jog your memory: the <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em> beta <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-beta-starts-june-25/">begins today</a>. To access the beta, owners of <em>Commando 3</em> should select the "SFII HD Remix Beta" option from the game's main menu, which will take them to a blade where they confirm the download. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithd/"><em>SSFIITHDR</em></a> beta will reside in the demo section of the games blade.<br /><br />The beta will give players the option of using only Ken or Ryu in various online modes or in local two-player matches. Remember, this is a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#Beta"><em>beta</em></a>, so the actual purpose of it is to stress-test the network code for the multiplayer modes of the game. The beta will run until around August 20 or whenever Capcom decides to pull the plug. Don't worry, you'll probably get bored of Ken and Ryu by then.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/25/super-street-fighter-insert-rest-here-beta-begins-today/">Super Street Fighter II XBLA beta begins today</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Jun 2008 01:00:00 EST. We'll be honest, at this point we wish <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithd/">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a> </em>would finally release just so we never have to double-check that we spelled the title's name correctly again, but we still have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/street-fighter-ii-hd-beta-bundled-with-commando-3/">this beta to get through</a>. The <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/1291">Capcom Blog</a> says the beta will begin June 25 and can only be accessed by purchasing the Xbox 360 version of <em>Commando 3</em>, which <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/09/this-wednesday-commando-3-and-frogger-2-hop-onto-xbla/">released today on XBLA</a>.<br /><br />On June 25, owners of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/commando-3/"><em>Commando 3</em></a> will gain entry to the <em>SSFIITHDR</em> portion of the menu, which will take them to an XBL blade where they can download the beta. Capcom reiterates that the beta is unfortunately only available on Xbox 360 and not PS3. The release of <em>SSFIITHDRWTFGTFOBBQ</em> simply can't come fast enough.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/06/11/capcom-ssfiithdr-beta-will-begin-june-25th/">X3F</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix-beta-starts-june-25/">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta starts June 25</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jun 2008 19:30:00 EST. I'm not a <em>Street Fighter</em> fanatic, but I've enjoyed the series over the years. So with this casual approach, I recently tried the XBLA beta of <em>Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</em>, available soon to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/street-fighter-ii-hd-beta-bundled-with-commando-3/">buyers of <em>Commando 3</em></a> on XBLA. The full version will be out this Summer for that system and PSN.<br /><br />Frankly, I don't even remember which character I played. It doesn't help that my only choices were Ken and Ryu, who have nearly the same moves. My helpful opponent reminded me how to do some of the special attacks; I was far out of practice on the Hurricane Kick, but I could throw fireballs right away.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1167186"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/sc1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110108"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110107"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-18_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110106"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix/#1110105"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/super-sf2-turbo-hd-remix-1021-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/joystiq-hands-on-street-fighter-ii-hd-xbla-psn/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq hands-on: Street Fighter II HD (XBLA/PSN)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/joystiq-hands-on-street-fighter-ii-hd-xbla-psn/">Joystiq hands-on: Street Fighter II HD (XBLA/PSN)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Mar 2008 13:30:00 EST. Today we bring you two of the <a href="http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/digital.php/2007/09/26/p508#more508">latest additions</a>, M. Bison and Cammy. Now, we're not knocking scantily clad women in video games -- far from it -- but something about this Cammy sprite is just <em>wrong</em>. It's like a train wreck. We don't want to stare, but we can't look away. If you find yourself with a similar conundrum, you'd best make the jump and check out the new sprite of M.
