Indie developer Psyonix, Inc. recently sent out a press release announcing a half-off sale for its wordy PSN title, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars"><em>Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars</em></a>. Until June 15, folks living in NTSC territories can purchase the game from the PlayStation Store for just $5 -- a promotion that's being offered in anticipation of the upcoming 2010 World Cup. <br />
<br />
We wonder if the World Cup will return the favor, and introduce a sudden death, vehicle-based round of soccer into its proceedings. If so, <em>we might actually watch it</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/25/supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars-half-off-on-psn/">Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars half-off on PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 May 2010 14:15:00 EST. Starting today (going on until October 29th), the soccer-inspired "racing" game will be half-off. For the low price of $4.99, you'll get access to the entire game, including the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/04/supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars-free-dlc-goes-li/">free expansion DLC</a> released earlier this year. The price drop is sure to prompt a nice influx of gamers to the network modes.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/15/supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars-keeps-long-title/">Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars keeps long title, cuts price</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 Oct 2009 12:00:00 EST. The new patch adds two levels: "Galleon," a brand new pirate-ship themed arena, and a brand new "Stadium."<br /><br />In addition to the new arena, the patch for <em>SARPBC</em> will add enhancements to the replay system, camera control, friends list, server browser, HUD, music and menus. Psyonix has also added 14 new vehicle skins for free, making this an update of <em>Burnout Paradise</em> proportions. <span style="font-style: italic;">Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars</span> finally got released in Europe today after <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/21/supersonic-battle-cars-european-release-delayed-another-week/">weeks of delays</a>. There's also a decent bunch of downloadable content, including a bumper selection of <span style="font-style: italic;">LittleBigPlanet<span style="font-style: italic;"></span></span> goodies. If you're feeling particularly masochistic you can also grab the <span style="font-style: italic;">Final Fantasy XIII</span> trailer -- just be warned that 2010 may feel as if it's <span style="font-style: italic;">never coming</span> once you see it.<br /><br />Choose your platform to view the corresponding release list:<br /><br />

We expect the Europeans among you were quite looking forward to the release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars"><em>Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars</em></a> this week. Unfortunately you've got another week to wait as the game has been suddenly delayed by SCEE until the 29th. A member of the development team has let us know, via the PSNation podcast blokes, that the release date "was changed at the last minute" and that it is "very frustrating since they confirmed the 22nd twice before we announced on our forums."<br /> <br /> First the <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> DLC <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/21/this-weeks-lbp-dlc-delayed-next-months-lineup-revealed/">gets delayed</a>, now <em>Battle Cars</em>. At this rate this week's European PSN update will consist of little more than a trailer or two. If we're lucky.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/21/supersonic-battle-cars-european-release-delayed-another-week/">Supersonic Battle Cars European release delayed another week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Jan 2009 23:00:00 EST. Live in Europe and been meaning to pick this PSN title up? Then it must've been a long wait for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Supersonic-Acrobatic-Rocket-Powered-Battle-Cars/"><em>Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars</em></a>; much longer than it takes to say that name, or to type it out. Try translating that into at least 15 other languages. <br /><br />Regardless of name length, the title is coming out in Europe this upcoming January 22. Psyonix Studios posted a discreet update on their website stating that the game would drop in during next week's PS Store update. So there you have it. It's time for <em>Voitures Acrobatiques de Bataille</em>!<br /><br />[Thanks <a href="http://upsblogit.net/2009/01/13/supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars-arriva-in-europa/">Alex</a>!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/rocket-powered-battle-cars-race-into-europe-jan-22/">Rocket Powered Battle Cars race into Europe Jan. 22</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 14:15:00 EST. <em>Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars</em> is getting a little bit smaller tomorrow. And by that, we don't mean the name -- we mean the price. The PlayStation Network-exclusive title will drop to $9.99.<br /><br />If the price drop isn't enticing enough, Psyonix is also adding a brand new arena to the game for absolutely free -- no need to buy DLC. Here's the full list of new features:<br />
<ol>
    <li>New "Cosmic" arena</li>
    <li>Improved performance in network games</li>
    <li>A server browser has been added during matchmaking</li>
    <li>Players can now view leaderboards during matchmaking</li>
    <li>News updates appear on the online page</li>
    <li>Meters added to evaluate players' connection speed</li>
    <li>Headsets can be plugged-in or swapped during gameplay </li>
</ol>
We always love seeing developers offering free updates to their games. Perhaps you'll want to check out <em>SARPBC</em> later tonight on the PlayStation Store.<br /><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://punchytitle.blogspot.com/">Joel</a>!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/18/supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars-gets-update-and/">Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars gets update and price drop tomorrow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Dec 2008 00:24:00 EST. This week the PlayStation Nation crew interviewed Psyonix Studios' Dave Hagewood. He's the Director of Development for the superbly named <em>Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars</em>. Torgo and Mark managed to squeeze some more tasty details out of Hagewood regarding when we'll be able to get our hands on the title and at what price. <em>Battle Cars</em> will be available for Americans next week, October 9th, for $14.99. Europeans can expect to play it at a later date, though nothing more specific than that was said. <br /><br /><em>Battle Cars</em> will feature trophy support, YouTube uploading, custom soundtracks, online leaderboards and online voice chat. There will also be a video editor within the game, giving you lots of advanced options to edit the footage in-game, including adding slow motion to replays. Offline, the game will support 4 players, while online will support 8. Multiple players on a single PS3 can play together in online matches, so two PS3s with 4 players on each is entirely possible. <br /><br />The game will launch with three maps, though more will follow. There's also the possibility that some DLC may be free, <strike>though that's unconfirmed as of yet</strike> (confirmed!). That's a lot of content for downloadable title, but with <em>WipEout HD</em> we've come to expect such things. Check out the gallery below for more <em>Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars</em> screenshots and make sure you check out the next PlayStation Nation podcast on PS3 Fanboy later today for the full interview.<br /><br /><strong>[UPDATE]</strong> Hagewood has confirmed that there will be free maps to download in the future. <br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/02/battle-cars-details-price-and-date-revealed/">Battle Cars details, price and date revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Oct 2008 19:45:00 EST. <p>The Psyonix guys are incredibly proud of their game's title. Just look at the new trailer for their PS3-exclusive <em>Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars</em>. It has tones of that crazy <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/17/e3s-greatest-trailer-duke-nukem-trilogy/"><em>Duke Nukem</em> trailer from E3</a> -- but with more gameplay. Strangely, the visuals look rather solid in this PSN game. Maybe it's because of the team's heritage with working on the Unreal Engine.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/18/yet-another-supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars-trai/">Yet another Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Sep 2008 22:30:00 EST. Say it with us now: <em>Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars</em>. Kind of makes your mouth hurt, doesn't it? We're not sure exactly what Psyonix was thinking when it chose that name for its first PSN title, but our early in-person glimpse of the game makes us want to forgive and move on.<br /><br />Running on Unreal Engine 3 (in fact, Psyonix was responsible for the popular Onslaught game type in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/unreal-tournament"><span style="font-style: italic;">Unreal Tournament</span></a> series) the game is, by both the developer's account and our own, a mix of car combat and soccer. Strange, we know, but it all makes sense - and looks quite fun - when the action commences.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars-1/">Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars-1/#1025315"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/sarp1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars-1/#1025316"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/sarp2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars-1/#1025317"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/sarp3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars-1/#1025318"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/sarp4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars-1/#1025319"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/09/sarp5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/09/joystiq-hands-on-supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-car/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq hands-on: Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/09/joystiq-hands-on-supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-car/">Joystiq hands-on: Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Sep 2008 10:30:00 EST. <p>When you have a title as long as <em>Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars</em>, you don't really want to make an even-longer headline. This PSN-exclusive brings multiplayer arcade car-battling to the PS3, and we're in shock -- we were actually surprised at how fun this looks! Wow, that's a long title. <em>Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars</em> by Psyonix Studios will strike PSN in early fall 2008. <em>SAR-PB-C</em> is "an arena-based online vehicle sports game" that's inspired by the game of soccer (football for the rest of the world).<br /><br />The game will feature extensive stats tracking, ranking and rewards. However, more exciting is the announcement of popular features, like Trophy support and the ability to record gameplay directly to YouTube. It's great to see third party developers starting to take advantage of the various capabilities of the PS3.<br /><br />Humorously, Dave Hagewood, Director of Development at Psyonix Studios talked in a press release: "Thankfully, we don't have to worry about fitting this title on a package."<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/08/supersonic-acrobatic-rocket-powered-battle-cars-races-towards-ps/">Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars races towards PSN with Trophies and YouTube support</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Aug 2008 14:30:00 EST.
