CBS announced today that it's bringing a wide array of its TV programming to the video game world, mainly via the PC, Wii and DS. As you can see after the break, the company revealed equally insipid-sounding game versions of <em>Survivor</em>, <em>Hollywood Squares</em>, <em>The Amazing Race, </em>and <em>Criminal Minds</em>, but we don't see how we're supposed to care about any of it when it was also revealed that a <em>Diagnosis Murder </em>game is in the works.<br />
<br />
We're assuming it's a Visceral-developed "dark" take on the <em>DM</em> mythos, with a Gothic Dr. Mark Sloan walking a demonic version of Los Angeles, solving murder mysteries with a caduceus-shaped staff dipped in angel blood. We assume this because we laid out the design doc <em>pretty</em> clearly in our letters, and we can't fathom why CBS would want to disappoint us.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/04/cbs-bringing-diagnosis-murder-to-gaming-platforms/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>CBS bringing Diagnosis Murder, some other stuff to gaming platforms</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/04/cbs-bringing-diagnosis-murder-to-gaming-platforms/">CBS bringing Diagnosis Murder, some other stuff to gaming platforms</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 04 Nov 2009 05:00:00 EST. Melee</em>. Yeah, even <em>yours</em>. A professional gamer by trade, Ken has earned <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Hoang#Notable_Tournament_placings">over $50,000</a> from playing <em>Melee</em>, which (according to his <a href="http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor/bio/ken_17/bio.php?season=17"><em>Survivor</em> profile</a> at CBS) he's used to help pay his family's mortgage. Whaddaguy!<br /><br />The message to take from this: don't let anybody tell you gaming can't take you anywhere in life. Unless you play, say, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/26/new-mario-kart-tournament-debuts-for-wii-wheel-racers/"><em>Mario Kart Wii</em></a> as well as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/game-night/">we</a> do. Then, seriously, it's time to look for a real job.<br /><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/28/survivor-adds-top-smash-bros-player-to-line-up/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/28/smash-bros-champion-cracks-the-world-of-reality-tv/">Smash Bros. champion cracks the world of reality TV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 Aug 2008 18:22:00 EST. The pro gamer (one of the nation's top <em>Smash Bros</em>. players) has been added to the cast of the 17th season of <em>Survivor</em>.<br /><br />Why would a spindly thumb jockey think he could hang with the beefy cast? Ken recently told <a href="http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20221152_20221155_20221313_3,00.html">Entertainment Weekly</a>: "Gaming will help me because I do well under pressure. ... I'm the underdog, I think all the fans will root for me to win. I would root for myself if I was watching TV."<br /><br />Note to Ken: If you're watching yourself on <em>Survivor</em> and you root <em>against</em> yourself, you've probably got some pretty serious stuff to work through.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/28/survivor-adds-top-smash-bros-player-to-line-up/">Survivor adds top Smash Bros. player to line-up</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 Aug 2008 08:45:00 EST. <ol>
    <li>Unconventional music tracks like "Eye of the Tiger" and the <em>Inspector Gadget</em> theme (after the post break)</li>
    <li>It's free (provided you have the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/20/ds-fanboys-semi-ultimate-homebrew-guide/">hardware to run homebrew programs</a>)!</li>
</ol>
The touchscreen controls are nice to have, but we'd really love to see <span style="font-style: italic;">Video Game Hero</span> support <span style="font-style: italic;">On Tour's</span> Guitar Grip, especially since we've already seen one other homebrew application <a href="http://forum.palib.info/index.php?topic=4695.0">utilize the slot-2 accessory</a>. Whether or not programmers Sumiguchi and Daydream decide to add that option, we'll make sure to check this game out when they release it this August 20th!<br /><br /><strong>See also:</strong> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/music-monstars-rocks-europe/">Music Monstars rocks Europe</a><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/06/video-game-hero-has-the-guts-glory/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video Game Hero has the guts, glory</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/06/video-game-hero-has-the-guts-glory/">Video Game Hero has the guts, glory</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 06 Jul 2008 14:00:00 EST. Just because <em>Halo</em> releases don't result in new sales records over there, doesn't mean the FPS has no place in their hearts. Take, for example, this arcadization (?) of gaming's most celebrated first person shooter: <em>Half-Life 2</em>. Taito and Valve teamed up, buddy copy style, to adapt the PC classic to Taito's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taito_Type_X">Type X</a> arcade board (not much of a challenge, since it's a PC already, Windows and everything).<br /><br />What did take some extra work was adapting <em>Half-Life's</em> intimate, story driven affair from the long-form to the arcade form; that's even shorter than the episodic releases! They've created three game types: story mode (single player), mission mode (co-op), and battle mode (multiplayer).<br /><br />Don't expect to stumble upon one in America's limping arcade market though; they're still rocking broken <em>House of the Dead</em> machines from five years ago. Lucky for us, 1UP grabbed some videos of the game from the recent JAMMA show in Tokyo, which we've embedded after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/18/japan-gets-hl2-survivor-we-get-videos-of-it/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Japan gets HL2 Survivor, we get videos of it</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/18/japan-gets-hl2-survivor-we-get-videos-of-it/">Japan gets HL2 Survivor, we get videos of it</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 18 Sep 2006 14:25:00 EST.
