We get a lot of weird stuff in the mail, it's simply one of the hazards of this profession. Any given day, we have to be prepared to take delivery of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/11/bulletstorm-vid-spoofs-halo-3s-believe-diorama-arrives-in-bi/">miniature diorama</a>, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/14/swagwatch-batman-arkham-asylum-review-packaging/">personalized strait jacket</a>, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/09/ea-marketers-send-joystiq-a-200-check-and-we-save-their-souls/">check for $200</a>, or maybe a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/screenshots/full/bulletstorm-meat-delivery/#/0">pile of meat, hair and teeth</a>? Sometimes, it's a dirty doll head.<br />
<br />
Wait, what?<br />
<br />
Now, getting something like this in the mail might be a frightening experience for the casual games journalist but remember, your pals at Joystiq are pros. And by pros, we mean to say that we asked Twitter what it was. Some of you suggested it might be promoting Gearbox's announced-over-three-years-ago FPS <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/aliens-colonial-marines"><em>Aliens: Colonial Marines</em></a>. While that seemed like a crazy assumption, it turns out the name written on the back, Rebecca, is the actual name of that lovable scamp from Aliens, Newt. Furthermore, the return address on the package is from one Ms. Rebecca Jorden, Newt's full name. Here's what Wikia has to say about the doll:<br />
<blockquote class="bq-standard">
	Casey was the favorite doll of Newt's. Casey was reduced to nothing but a head when she was discovered on LV-426. Casey was lost when Newt was abducted in the sub-basement reservoir in the Hadley's Hope settlement.</blockquote>
And if that's not enough proof of an imminent E3 re-reveal, <a href="http://kotaku.com/5805946/which-e3-game-involves-this-plastic-doll-head">Kotaku says</a> it has an appointment to see the game, so ... case closed, we guess. We're <em>mostly</em> looking forward to seeing why <em>Colonial Marines</em> was put on the backburner for so long ...<br />
<br />
... mostly.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/26/severed-head-in-the-mail-terrifies-teases-aliens-colonial-mari/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Severed head in the mail terrifies, teases Aliens: Colonial Marines</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/26/severed-head-in-the-mail-terrifies-teases-aliens-colonial-mari/">Severed head in the mail terrifies, teases Aliens: Colonial Marines</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 May 2011 16:30:00 EST. Delivering another fine example of the industry pitching in to help Japan, Sega is <a href="http://blogs.sega.com/usa/2011/03/22/sega-auctions-for-charity/">auctioning</a> off a Yakuza track jacket, a Dreamcast hoodie and a ton of neat stuff, all of which you can see after the break. All proceeds go to the Red Cross, so you can dress like a geek but still feel like a champ.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/23/sega-does-its-part-to-help-japan-with-gear-auction/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sega does its part to help Japan with gear auction</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/23/sega-does-its-part-to-help-japan-with-gear-auction/">Sega does its part to help Japan with gear auction</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Mar 2011 13:30:00 EST. <br />
Sure, Deathwing might pose a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/17/world-of-warcraft-cataclysm-intro/">huge threat</a> to the <em>World of Warcraft,</em> but we don't see much harm in all the little Dethlings BlizzCon 2010 attendees will receive and evetually take home. What's the worst that could happen -- they crack the plumbing? As part of this year's goody bag, con questers will receive a miniature Deathwing (pictured), an in-game Murloc pet with Deathwing mask, an account-hack preventing Blizzard authenticator and other various trinkets.<br />
<br />
The in-game murloc pet for <em>WoW</em> appears to have become a goody bag standard for BlizzCon, with last year's attendees receiving the little gurgler wearing a <a href="http://wow.joystiq.com/2009/08/14/blizzcon-2009-goody-bag-is-full-of-starcraft-goodness/"><em>StarCraft 2</em> marine uniform</a>.<br />

Oh those <em>crazy</em> publishers, always sending us <em>crazy</em> stuff for their <em>crazy</em> games. Why, just today we received the suspicious looking red suitcase seen above for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mafia-2">Mafia 2</a></em> -- one which we presumed to be full of human heads (that's what early 20th Century gangsters carry around, no?) until we crowbarred it open and looked inside. Lo and behold, it actually contained a dossier detailing some of the game's main characters, as well as a note for "Paulie," which we've catalogued for you in the gallery below. Now make with the clickin', wise guy!<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mafia-2-swag-luggage/">Mafia 2 Swag Luggage</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mafia-2-swag-luggage/#3125589"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/img2911_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mafia-2-swag-luggage/#3125590"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/img2912_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mafia-2-swag-luggage/#3125591"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/img2913_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mafia-2-swag-luggage/#3125592"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/img2914_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mafia-2-swag-luggage/#3125593"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/06/img2915_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/28/mafia-2s-swag-suitcase-is-full-of-brutal-truths/">Mafia 2's swag suitcase is full of brutal truths</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 Jun 2010 15:55:00 EST. Only upon opening the front cover did we learn its <strike>terrible</strike> secret: it's not full of paper at all, but rather a copy of <em><a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2010/02/24/100-classic-books-on-ds-this-june/">100 Classic Books</a></em>, Nintendo and HarperCollins' DS collection of literary standards.<br />
<br />
<em>100 Classic Books</em> will be in stores (in a regular DS case) June 14. To browse the books included in the collection, check Nintendo's <a href="http://100classicbooks.com/">official site</a>.<br />

<small><em>The Halo Reach clippers, guaranteed to take you from Brute to Spartan[TM]</em></small></div>
<br />
Paired to go along with the beginning of the early access "friends and family" beta for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Halo-Reach/"><em>Halo: Reach</em></a> came the above tool, some seemingly military-grade Oster hair clippers, bundled in a heavy duty Pelican case that probably cost more than the clippers themselves. Inscribed with the WelcomeToNobleTeam.com URL - <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/29/full-halo-reach-live-action-short-is-longer/">haven't you seen the short yet?</a> - and delivered at the oh-so-welcome hour of 7am, the package contained another treat: a copy of <em>Halo 3: ODST</em>.<br />
<br />
Of course, that ODST disc won't gain you access to the beta <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/11/halo-reach-beta-dated-may-3-only-for-odst-owners/">until May 3rd</a>, but luckily this morning's announcement of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/29/bungie-enters-10-year-partnership-with-activision/">partnership between Halo Reach developer Bungie and Activision</a> - solidifying the dev's departure from Microsoft, Halo, and platform-exclusivity - will give you plenty to think about over the next four days. Check out the entire kit in the gallery below while we figure out the best way to give it to a reader. <br />

Why do zombies eat brains? There's usually perfectly available, good meat around, so what's with the <a href="http://www.youreunderattack.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/zombie.jpg">brain-cravings</a>? It's not like they do anything special with them. If they saved them for some kind of a stew or possibly pulled a Sylar, <em>then</em> you could understand it, but this willy-nilly shambling towards grey matter? Weird. Plus, do they have some sort of brain detector built-in? They always seem to know exactly which way to go.<br />
<br />
Whoops, pardon our tangent. You want to get right to the swag, don't you? We're giving away nine copies of <a href="http://www.halfbrick.com/home">Halfbrick's</a> brand new <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/age-of-zombies">Age of Zombies</a></em>, the PSP minis game that combines cute and cuddly with brain-hungry and undead. Seriously, these little zombies are <em>adorable</em>, and they'll look super keen on your PSP or your PS3. Since we can't explain why zombies crave brains, all you have to do is follow the rules below and tell us what the perfect side dish would be.<br />
<ul>
    <li>Leave a comment telling us what the perfect side dish would be for a serving of brains.</li>
    <li>You must be 18 years or older and a resident of the US or Canada (excluding Quebec -- it has to do with Pierre Duchesne and he knows why).</li>
    <li><strong>Limit 1 entry per person per day.</strong></li>
    <li>This entry period ends at <strong>11:31AM ET on Monday, March 8</strong>.</li>
    <li>At that time, we'll randomly select nine winners to receive a code good for one copy of <em><a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/02/coming-to-psn-tomorrow-age-of-zombies-psp-mini/">Age of Zombies</a> </em>for PSP or PS3 (ARV: $4.99).</li>
    <li>For a list of complete rules, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/official-giveaway-rules/">click here</a>.</li>

Olympic Blvd. in LA tomorrow between 2pm and 5pm -- actually, we're guessing you're going to need to get there early. And bring a printout of <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/jgonzo/blog/2009/12/10/in_los_angeles_on_saturday_want_some_mega_swag">this coupon</a> with you.<br />
<br />
Capcom and <a href="http://www.iam8bit.com/">i am 8 Bit</a> plan to hand out <em>some</em> kind of extremely limited <em>Mega Man</em> swag in enticing <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/jgonzo/blog/2009/12/09/whats_in_the_box">E-Tank boxes</a>. It's likely related to the newly announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/09/nintendo-power-reveals-mega-man-10-for-wiiware/"><em>Mega Man 10</em></a>, and with the <em>Mega Man 10</em> "box art" done by i am 8 Bit's Gerald de Jesus, it's possible that the item will bear that image. If you get one, be sure to let us know what's in the box! We <em>have to know what is in the box</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/11/capcom-handing-out-mysterious-mega-man-items-before-vgas/">Capcom handing out mysterious Mega Man items before VGAs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Dec 2009 13:45:00 EST. No puzzles were required to get into this treasure chest, however. <br />
<br />
Along with the treasure chest, Nintendo sent a Link t-shirt. In a separate mailing, the company sent another wooden gewgaw: a train whistle, just like the one you got from any museum gift shop ever. In a truly superhuman display of discipline, we've managed to leave the whistle <em>untooted </em>so future Joyswag winners won't be subject to blogger cooties.<br />

In addition to the tiny Chibiterasu paw screen cleaning straps seen here, Capcom is offering a shirt with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/okamiden"><em>Okamiden</em></a> art.<br /><br />There's also the requisite <em>pile</em> of <em>Monster Hunter</em> and <em>Sengoku Basara</em> gear, as well as <em>Resident Evil</em> (the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/15/become-a-shirt-zombie-with-this-resident-evil-the-darkside-chro/">zombie shirt</a>!)<em> </em>and<em> Lost Planet 2</em> stuff. <br /> EA's been slowly ticking off the levels of Hell by way of marketing stunts for the upcoming God-of-War-em-up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Dantes-Inferno/"><em>Dante's Inferno</em></a>. The first circle of Hell is "Limbo" ... and though we're not sure, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/05/ea-confirms-dantes-inferno-protest-was-staged/">E3 "staged protest"</a> was an early <em>Dante's Inferno</em> marketing stunt, so maybe limbo? Next is circle two: "Lust." Cue the controversial Comic-Con <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/25/ea-giving-away-booth-girls-as-comic-con-swag/">"Sin to Win" stunt</a> wherein one "lucky" winner received "a night with the hottest girl at Comic-Con." Yeah, that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/26/dantes-inferno-team-apologizes-for-sin-to-win-booth-babe-cont/">didn't go over</a> so well. Next up is "Gluttony." To celebrate the third circle of Hell, they mailed our own Randy Nelson <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dantes-inferno/2270319/">a severed limb cake</a>. We didn't reward them with a post for that one. <br /> <br /> However, the latest stunt is a little more creative. They've mailed this editor, and presumably the editors at several other media outlets, a check for $200. The packaging says that "by cashing this check you succumb to avarice by hoarding filthy lucre but by not cashing it, you waste it, and thereby surrender to prodigality." If your SAT dictionary isn't at arm's length, that last one means wastefulness. So, we either cash it and "succumb to avarice" or <em>burn it </em>and be wasteful. What's an ethical gaming blog to do ...<br /> <br /> ... how about this? How about we cash it, and donate all $200 to <a href="http://www.thewhitehouseproject.org/join/donate/">The White House Project</a>, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization "that aims to advance women's leadership in all communities and sectors - up to the U.S. presidency - by filling the leadership pipeline with a richly diverse, critical mass of women"? Of course, we'll make the donation in EA's name. It won't make up for Sin to Win, but the road to redemption's got to start somewhere, right?<br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/09/ea-marketers-send-joystiq-a-200-check-and-we-save-their-souls/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EA marketers send Joystiq a $200 check and we save their souls</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/09/ea-marketers-send-joystiq-a-200-check-and-we-save-their-souls/">EA marketers send Joystiq a $200 check and we save their souls</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Sep 2009 17:57:00 EST. We'll highlight each item while <em>also</em> highlighting a video game that Sega passed over in favor of inconsequential swag.<br />

    <li>Sega t-shirt (produced instead of the Wii <em><a href="http://www.unseen64.net/2009/02/18/jet-set-radio-wii-concept/">Jet Set Radio</a> </em>game)</li>
    <li>Sega water bottle holder (<em>just</em> cut into the budget that would have gone into a new traditional <em>Phantasy Star</em> RPG)</li>

Sega is at it again, giving away lots of free swag for its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/freestufffriday/">#FreeStuffFriday</a> via Twitter. <a href="http://blogs.sega.com/europe/2009/05/21/this-week%E2%80%99s-freestufffriday-swag-reveal-for-twitter/">Up for grabs this week</a> are lots of cool goodies including an autographed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a> poster, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/madworld"><em>MadWorld</em></a> soundtrack, <em>Bleach</em> plushie and more. Without a doubt, though, the coolest part of the swag pack is the Sega branded lip balm. Just imagine the shock on your friends' faces when you whip out one of those bad boys to sooth your horribly chapped lips.<br /><br />Winning, appropriately enough, is as easy as following Sega's Twitter account (<a href="http://twitter.com/sega">@SEGA</a>, duh). Sega will, in turn, <em>follow you</em>. This Friday (that's tomorrow) at around 2:00 pm UK time, @SEGA will post a swag pack and a code phrase. The first person to send the code phrase to @SEGA via direct message wins the swag.<br /><br />Good luck nabbing that lip balm, though. That sucker is <em>ours</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/21/segas-freestufffriday-includes-lip-balm-and-boring-video-gam/">Sega's #FreeStuffFriday includes lip balm! Except that they have <em>Punch-Out!!</em> logos on them, which would be really weird and meta on Little Mac. In fact, now that we think about it, if you just <em>bought</em> a pink sweatshirt elsewhere, it would be <em>more</em> authentic.<br /><br />It wouldn't, however, be nearly as <em>rare</em>: the sweatshirts won't be made available for sale, according to the <em>Punch-Out!!</em> <a href="http://twitter.com/WVBABoxing/status/1788810644">Twitter account</a>. Like us, you're probably scrambling to get your New Year's Eve party entertainment squared away. Never mind the fact that it will all be irrelevant by the time everyone is to soused to appreciated anyway. Thus, we present to you the following giveaway opportunity: Joystiq is giving away <em>You're in the Movies</em> (with Vision Camera) and, get this, a popcorn maker! You're almost guaranteed to find a practical use for at least one of them. For your chance to win, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/29/joyswag-regift-giveaway-youre-in-the-movies-with-bonus-popcor/">head over to Joystiq</a> and follow the ridiculously simple instructions. Please though, wipe off your greasy, buttery mitts before picking up the controller, mkay?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/30/win-youre-in-the-movies-from-joystiq-have-popcorn-too/">Win You're in the Movies from Joystiq, have popcorn too</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 30 Dec 2008 13:20:00 EST. Just a quick pointer: Joystiq is currently <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/10/joyswag-holidaze-left-4-dead-xbox-360-and-turtle-beach-ear-forc/">giving away</a> a copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/left-4-dead"><em>Left 4 Dead</em></a> and a pair of Turtle Beach Ear Force X3 Headphones. These bad boys generally sell for $100, and they allow players to block out the pesky, distracting sounds of the real world (lawn mowers, spouses) in order to better immerse themselves in something much more important: video games. Trust us when we say that sound is especially important in <em>Left 4 Dead</em> (as anyone that's been vomited on by a Boomer can tell you). The headphones also include a microphone so you can still chat during Xbox Live gaming sessions. Oh, and we should mention that they are <em>wireless</em>.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/10/joyswag-holidaze-left-4-dead-xbox-360-and-turtle-beach-ear-forc/">Head over to Joystiq for your chance to win</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/win-left-4-dead-and-a-turtle-beach-headset-from-joystiq/">Win Left 4 Dead and a Turtle Beach headset from Joystiq</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 11 Dec 2008 13:15:00 EST. <br />It's that time <a href="http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=F_ZkZeDYI_U&amp;e">again</a>, everybody: time to sheepishly visit Burger King every day and buy a <em>Kids' Meal</em> for Nintendo freebies, all while trying to shut out thoughts of how disappointed your father would be to see you like this.<span style="font-style: italic;"> </span><em>Shame, shame</em>.<br /><br />The fast food chain is giving away a bunch of different toys based on the Wii and its games, and all it wants in return is cash and a willingness to clog up your own arteries. We like the "Chain Chomp Launcher" the best, though the "Float and Go Boo" and "Light-Up Luma" are also nice. Plus, we can always keep telling ourselves we'll sell all this on eBay in the future for <a href="http://shop.ebay.com/items/__mcdonalds-happy-meal-toys_W0QQQ5ftrkparmsZ72Q253A570Q257C66Q253A2Q257C65Q253A12Q257C39Q253A1QQ_dmptZFastQ5fFoodQ5fCerealQ5fPremiumsQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQ_sopZ16QQ_scZ1">a small fortune</a>. Yes, that'll do: it's an <span style="font-style: italic;">investment in our future</span>. Pictures and details of all ten follow the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/04/burger-king-offering-free-wii-toys-in-exchange-for-money-good-h/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Burger King offering free Wii toys in exchange for money, good health</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/04/burger-king-offering-free-wii-toys-in-exchange-for-money-good-h/">Burger King offering free Wii toys in exchange for money, good health</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 04 Dec 2008 21:10:00 EST. <br />So far, we're <span style="font-style: italic;">loving</span> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sega">Sega</a>'s marketing of <span style="font-style: italic;">House of the Dead: Overkill</span>. We thought <span style="font-style: italic;">nothing</span> could top the cracking grindhouse-style trailer released when the game was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/19/the-house-of-the-dead-overkill-where-the-dead-walk-and-bull/">announced</a>, but some of the swag associated with the game comes close.<br /><br />Destructoid's Jim Sterling (and we assume our other esteemed, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gc08">Leipzig</a>-attending colleagues in the press) just received the above video cassette box. Inside, Sterling discovered a postcard resembling a VHS tape, and a T-shirt that expands in water. Best of all, he notes how the box has been designed to look damaged and scuffed, so that it looks like the kind of under-the-counter filth that you may have found abandoned on a disused section of railway as a youngster; very subtle, Sega! Blast your way through the break for a couple more shots.<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/house-of-the-amazing-swag/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>House of the Amazing Swag</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/house-of-the-amazing-swag/">House of the Amazing Swag</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Aug 2008 21:23:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/1942"><em>1942: Joint Strike</em></a> shirts from E3, featuring <span style="font-style: italic;">Street Fighter</span>'s Cammy doing her best bomber nose art impression, are available now from <a href="http://meatbun.us/blog/?p=162">Meatbun.com</a>. The shirt will cost $26, plus shipping, and is available worldwide in the three colors seen above. A close-up of the shirt's image can be found after the break.<br />
<br />
Fun fact: Yoshiki Okamoto created both <em>1942</em> and the <em>Street Fighter</em> series, so the shirt's image with Cammy isn't an entirely random cross-promotion.<br />

<div align="left"><em>Mirror's Edge</em>, the upcoming game from EA's DICE studio, is what you'd get if you crossed <em>Johnny Mnemonic</em> with the Kevin Costner epic <em>The Postman</em> and then multiplied it by <em>Portal</em> and divided it by the Y.T. character from Neal Stephenson's <em>Snow Crash</em>. <br /><br />You play a Runner named Faith, and she runs information in her faithful little satchel to and fro in a sprawling, futuristic metropolis. If you pre-order the game from GameStop, you can get your mitts on that <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?Product_ID=70962">very same bag</a>. It has seven compartments, comes in eye-blasting yellow, and "fits your PS3, Xbox 360, or laptop for gaming on the run." <br /><br />Not too shabby. If publishers keep putting out things like this and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/06/amazon-offering-fallout-3-survival-edition/"><em>Fallout 3 Survival Edition</em></a>, which comes with a replica of the Pip-Boy 3000, then how long until <em>Resident Evil</em> ships with a replica of the T-Virus in a collectible plexiglas case? We'd hit it.</div>

There are plenty of reasons to pre-order <em>Fallout 3</em>. Maybe there's a cute checkout boy/girl at your local game retailer that you'll take any opportunity to see or, maybe, it's because <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Fallout-3/" style="font-style: italic;">Fallout 3</a> is almost certainly going to be completely and utterly rad. Either way, those that lay a five-spot on the game at their local GameStop are going to be walking away with a five-song <em>Fallout 3</em> soundtrack disc, according to Bethesda's official blog.<br /><br />As you can <a href="http://static.bethsoft.com/blog/fallout_musiccd_sleeve-back1.jpg">see here</a>, there are a few licensed tracks as well as some originals by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/08/crysis-composer-inon-zur-scoring-fallout-3/">recently-announced</a> scorer Inon Zur. As you can also see above it's gorgeous and we want it so bad and please <em>Fallout 3</em> just come out today oh please please we need this please. While that may sound disgusting, it's not. In fact, we find this <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/a-class-in-puchi-puchi-virology/">Puchi Puchi Virus</a></em> candy to be almost as appetizing as the budget priced game due out this summer. Now, though, there's a chance for you to get your hands on both the delicious snack and the game it's themed after. <br /><br />In order to promote their upcoming game, NIS is having two contests, in which the prize is a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/22/todays-most-edible-swag-puchi-puchi-virus-candies/">Puchi Puchi Anti-Virus kit</a>. The kit include anti-virus pills (aka candy), information about <em>Puchi Puchi Virus</em>, and the game itself. The deadline for both contests is May 20th. For one, you must draw your own version of an infected person, name it, and send in the artwork. For the other, you must come up with your own "wacky" virus, name it, and write about what it does.<br /><br />If you're interested in entering, just click the "read" link below for more information.<br /><br />

You take your receipt from purchase to Sega GiGO and you might get a messenger bag, a t-shirt, promotional postcard, or an autographed piece of art. Even if you don't get to Japan for this, look around on eBay in a few weeks!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/18/valkyria-chronicles-swag-littering-streets-upon-japanese-launch/">Valkyria Chronicles swag littering streets upon Japanese launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Apr 2008 15:30:00 EST. "Are you Mr. Stern, by chance?" A built man in a black suit asked, standing in front of a black Cadillac. His black sunglasses evenly split <span style="font-style: italic;">M.I.B.</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">The Matrix</span>.<br /><br />I'd just stumbled into the daylight after an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/10/joystiq-impressions-fallout-3-360-pc-ps3/">afternoon meeting</a> near San Francisco's Union Square. I'd been standing on the sidewalk for a moment, shifting my attention between my notebook, phone, and this man. I'd stolen glances like I was meeting a blind date, wondering if this was my contact but not quite approaching him<br /><br />I confirmed my identity, and he motioned me over to the sedan. "I'll be taking you to the drop zone," he said and then was silent.<br /><br />A few weeks earlier, FedEx dropped off an unmarked, prepaid mobile phone. The carbon-copy shipping slip gave no origin address or FedEx account number. I called the delivery company and asked for more details, and all they could dig up was the location the phone was picked up. Some place called "Vivendi University" according to the agent. And so the marketing stunt began.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-bourne-conspiracy-event/">The Bourne Conspiracy Event</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-bourne-conspiracy-event/#749198"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/bourne_event_sf18_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-bourne-conspiracy-event/#749197"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/bourne_event_sf16_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-bourne-conspiracy-event/#749196"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/bourne_event_sf19_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-bourne-conspiracy-event/#749195"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/bourne_event_sf15_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-bourne-conspiracy-event/#749194"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/bourne_event_sf21_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/13/the-things-we-do-to-get-you-schwag-bourne-conspiracy-strings-us/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The things we do to get you swag: Bourne Conspiracy strings us along</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/13/the-things-we-do-to-get-you-schwag-bourne-conspiracy-strings-us/">The things we do to get you swag: Bourne Conspiracy strings us along</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 13 Apr 2008 18:40:00 EST. We weren't aware it was a big spending season, but there you have it. For spending a certain amount on select PlayStation products, around $256 (or $2000 HKD for those in Asia), you get the above PSP plushy pillow thing. Yes, you can hug your gaming addiction as you sleep. Spend more and you can get a polo shirt; even more and you'll get a windbreaker. We <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2008/03/17/soft-and-squishy-plushstation-portable/">agree with Siliconera</a> -- the plush PSP is the sexiest item of the lot. Also of note: the blow-up PS3 is just a retailer item, so you can't get that one.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/17/playstation-portable-plushies-make-good-bedfellows/">PlayStation Portable plushies make good bedfellows</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Mar 2008 16:00:00 EST. <div align="left">My first task upon entering the Austin Convention Center was ... well, it was to challenge the Labyrinth of Press Registration (instead of a minotaur at the end, there is a nice-but-flustered volunteer). But <em>after that!</em> I went for the swag bag. I just wasn't carrying enough stuff! It's <em>stuff.</em> How could I resist?<br /></div>
<br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/SXSW07/">SXSW Interactive</a> is <a href="http://2008.sxsw.com/interactive/programming/">not strictly</a> about video games, and the free stuff in this bag is similarly focused on interactive technology in general. Microsoft is promoting their Flash-like Silverlight browser plugin, Opera's pushing, uh, Opera (via koozie!) and Fuze is putting their marketing effort behind their <em>thirst-quenching technology.</em> By far the most enjoyable bit of swag was Adobe's ad-filled fortune cookies. Or, as I like to call them, <em>breakfast.</em> I am literally a consumer of their ad material!<br /><br />I laid out everything that wasn't an advertising flier and took pictures to provide you with the immersive SXSW swag bag experience. Check our gallery and imagine what it must feel like to have things from a convention!<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sxsw-2008-swag-bag/">SXSW 2008 swag bag</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sxsw-2008-swag-bag/#687564"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/sxswag03070808_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sxsw-2008-swag-bag/#687562"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/sxswag03070806_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sxsw-2008-swag-bag/#687561"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/sxswag03070805_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sxsw-2008-swag-bag/#687560"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/sxswag03070804_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sxsw-2008-swag-bag/#687559"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/sxswag03070803_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/07/sxsw08-sxswag/">SXSW08: SXSWag</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 07 Mar 2008 17:00:00 EST. If there's one thing we enjoy more than getting free stuff in the mail here at Joystiq, it's getting stuff that is both free <em>and </em>edible, which is why we were only too happy when a package showed up today from NIS America promoting the publisher's upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/20/nis-goes-casual-for-the-nintendo-ds/">foray into the world of casual gaming</a> with Jaleco's <em>Puchi Puchi Virus</em>. <br /><br />We'll admit we had our misgivings about the change in direction, particularly given the company's traditionally niche role-playing and strategy roots, but if all of their side quests turn out as milk chocolate covered in a thin candy shell, we may well have to revise our stance altogether. Were we not thinking with our stomachs, the notion of consuming food based around a puzzle game with 'virus' in the title could be cause for concern. Also sealed in the box, aptly labeled 'Anti-Virus Kit,' is the game as well, so expect impressions soon -- assuming the candies themselves do not <em>do us in</em>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puchi-puchi-virus/">Puchi Puchi Virus</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puchi-puchi-virus/#658557"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/100_4601_closeup_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puchi-puchi-virus/#658555"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/100_4603_puchi_box_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puchi-puchi-virus/#658554"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/100_4600_puchi_inside_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puchi-puchi-virus/#658565"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/4puchi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puchi-puchi-virus/#658564"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/3puchi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/22/todays-most-edible-swag-puchi-puchi-virus-candies/">Today's most edible swag: Puchi Puchi Virus candies</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Feb 2008 23:00:00 EST. We just can't hide it: we <em>miss </em><em>Professor Layton</em> and its puzzley delights. In our less sane moments, we'd even tolerate more of Luke's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/23/professor-layton-and-the-curious-accents/"><em>inane simpering</em></a> for <em>just one more hit</em> of puzzles about matchsticks, moving blocks, or sliding tiles.<br /><br />So imagine how envious we felt when we learned that Japan is getting <em>MOAR PROFESSOR LAYTON!</em> No, not the sequels -- we already know about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/28/already-screens-from-the-professor-layton-sequel/">those</a>, silly. Instead, Japanese gamers will soon be able to rent a compilation known as <em>Level 5 Premium Gold</em> from music rental specialists <a href="http://www.inazuma.jp/rental.html">Tsutaya</a>. This desirable collection contains demos of two Level 5 games -- <strike>football</strike> soccer RPG <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/11/inazuma-eleven-adds-three-for-twelv/"><em>Inazuma Eleven</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/05/details-on-the-second-in-professor-laytons-trilogy/"><em>Professor Layton and the Devil's Box</em></a> -- and, most thrillingly of all, a <em>totally original</em> Layton side story. <em>Professor Layton and the Holiday in London</em> features the good Professor in his London office, reflecting on his worldwide adventures with Luke, and solving a dozen new puzzles in the process. <br /><br />More frustratingly still, this compendium was given away for <em>free </em>back at last September's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tgs07">Tokyo Game Show</a>, under the name of <em>Level 5 Premium Silver</em>. This can only lead to one outcome: Professor Layton and the Ridiculously Pricey Ebay Auctions.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/19/japan-gets-to-rent-rare-professor-layton-freebie/">Japan gets to rent rare Professor Layton freebie</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Feb 2008 15:00:00 EST. We picked up our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gdc08">GDC</a> bag this year, and frankly it was a bit underwhelming. The most remarkable of the bag's contents was the energy shot you see above. Eager as we were to <em>feel the rush</em>, we downed ours straight away. Suffice it to say we immediately regretted the decision. Although the show floors haven't opened yet, the GDC Store was packed with potential consumers. Highlights include: a teddy bear ($10) slouched over and surrounded by empty shot glasses ($5) and flasks ($10), a line of clothing for toddlers ($16 to $25) and the <em>Outlaw Volleyball</em> soundtrack. <br />Once the preserve of circus masters, <a href="http://www.paulmorris.co.uk/beano/strips/snooty2001.jpg">Lord Snooty</a> from <em>The Beano</em>, and <a href="http://www.a42.com/images/118-Mandrake/MandrakeMagician.jpg">Mandrake the Magician</a>, the trusty top hat has now been adopted by another group: Nintendo DS game reviewers. This glitzy top hat, modeled after Professor Layton's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/laytonhr7.jpg">own</a>, was a freebie that came with Kombo's review copy of <em>Professor Layton and the Curious Village</em>.<br /><br />Needless to say, we are <em>burning with envy</em>. Our lives would be significantly improved with a <em>plain </em>top hat, never mind one emblazoned with the good Professor's name. Go past the break for a shot of this fine item being shown off by smug Kombo editor Phillip Levin.<br /><br /><strong>See also: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/28/2008s-biggest-blips/">2008's Biggest Blips</a> -- </strong><em><strong><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/28/2008s-biggest-blips-professor-layton-and-the-curious-village/">Professor Layton and the Curious Village</a><br /><br /></strong></em><em><strong></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/professor-layton-and-the-amazing-review-swag/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Professor Layton and the Amazing Review Swag</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/professor-layton-and-the-amazing-review-swag/">Professor Layton and the Amazing Review Swag</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Feb 2008 12:45:00 EST. It's a slow news day and we know you guys love any opportunity to get your hands on some swag. Tom Eccles, a writer for ThreeSpeech, has some decent stuff up for grabs on his personal blog. There are a couple of caveats; you must be a UK citizen (yes, this one is open to the UK. How often does that happen?) and you must be able to answer a simple question related to the game.<br /><br />The winner will receive an <em>Uncharted</em> T-shirt, a poster and a press kit for the game. Three runners up will receive a T-shirt and a poster each. The press kit is an interesting little collectible. It looks like a book, but opens to reveal various miscellaneous items linked to the game. It's also pretty rare (only press have one), so you can brag to all your friends about it. Just watching <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/27/space-invaders-streamed/">footage</a> of Taito's stylishly remade shmup is enough to make us draw breath at the game's frenetic pace. As we all sit up straight and proper in anticipation for Capcom's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/how-okami-got-to-the-wii/">port</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/25/okami-might-not-be-a-straight-port-now/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Okami</span></a> for the Wii, the folks at the official Capcom blog have decided to snap up some pictures of random things about their offices. Too bad they don't travel around the <span style="font-style: italic;">entire </span>office, because then we wouldn't get so few pictures of so few things.<br />
<br />
Hit up past the break to see the other side of the fan, as well as a piece of swag from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zackandwiki">another</a> Capcom game.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/10/for-the-fans-some-okami-swag/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>For the fans, some Okami swag</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/10/for-the-fans-some-okami-swag/">For the fans, some Okami swag</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Jan 2008 22:30:00 EST. <br />Spring cleaning must be a real hoot at Brett Martin's house. The Nintendo fan describes the picture above as "just a portion" of what is the most comprehensive collection of Nintendo merchandise we've ever clapped eyes on. Perhaps even more impressively, this vast pile of swag has been meticulously documented over at Martin's <a href="http://www.videogamemm.com/">site</a>, <em>where you can cherry-pick the items you'd like to buy</em>. Yep, that's right: you can actually drown your own house in Kirby plushes, should you so desire.<br /><br />The occasional <em>South Park</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/megaman">Mega Man</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/square-enix">Square Enix</a> item aside, it's pretty much a Nintendo enthusiast's nirvana, so we advise you check out this <a href="http://videogamecollectors.com/gallery/Brett-Martin-Memorabilia-Collection">gallery</a> if you want to see the best of it.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.geekstir.com/nintendocollection.html?category=gaming/epic-nintendo-memorabilia-collection/">Geekstir</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/02/insane-collection-of-nintendo-memorabilia-can-be-yours/">Insane collection of Nintendo memorabilia can be yours</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Jan 2008 12:45:00 EST.
