This weekend, the <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom">Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</a></em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/05/official-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-fightstick-is-officially-real/">FightStick</a> is marked down 15%, to $67.95. If you buy it together with the game, the whole thing is $113.95, with the stick making up $64 of that.<br />
<br />
We should also point out that the FightSticks are <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Wii-Tatsunoko-Capcom-Arcade-FightStick-Nintendo/dp/B0032ISZL8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1273268976&amp;sr=8-2">$68.56</a> on Amazon at the moment, so you have another potential avenue for savings. And it wouldn't <em>necessarily</em> just be for one game -- it would be really nice for retro fighting games and even shooters on the Virtual Console, as well.<br type="_moz" /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/07/save-on-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-fightsticks-at-capcoms-online-stor/">Save on Tatsunoko vs. Capcom FightSticks at Capcom's online store</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 07 May 2010 18:19:00 EST. It was a tough blow to hear that Frank West wouldn't star in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dead-rising-2">Dead Rising 2</a>. </em>All was not lost, however: Frank not only cut his teeth fighting less undead opponents in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs Capcom</em></a>, but there's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/20/marvel-vs-capcom-3-fate-of-two-worlds-ps3-xbox-360-spring-2011/">some evidence</a> he'll be in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-3"><em>Marvel vs Capcom 3</em></a> -- and let's not forget his <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/15/lost-planet-2-getting-guest-characters-from-dead-rising-monster/">cameo</a> in <em>Lost Planet 2</em>.<br />
<br />
According to Capcom's Seth Killian, Frank West is pretty damn popular in these parts, something of which Capcom of Japan is aware. He told <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/capcom-loves-frank-west-wants-him-in-everything-172114.phtml">Destructoid</a> that not only is Capcom of Japan "convinced" that your everyday American loves the <em>Dead Rising </em>protagonist, but that he'll "be making appearances in as many games as they can get him into."<br />
<br />
Personally, we're all for it. Whatever he's in, we just hope it spawns more hilarious <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HR_KiUA-dFM">internet</a> <a href="http://mega64.com/deadrising.htm">videos</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/27/capcom-wants-to-put-frank-west-into-as-many-games-as-possible/">Capcom wants to put Frank West into as many games as possible</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Apr 2010 23:00:00 EST. Capcom's VP of strategic planning and business development, Christian Svensson, officially confirmed the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/16/gamestop-suggests-40-price-for-super-street-fighter-iv/">retailer-listed</a> $40 price for the upcoming car vandalism sim, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/super-street-fighter-iv">Super Street Fighter IV</a>, </em>in a recent interview with <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/4291/careful_capcom_christian_.php">Gamasutra</a>. Expanding on statements made when the game was first announced, Svensson said, "Going $10 above Platinum/Greatest Hits pricing was sort of a nice compromise ... It's $40 -- we had two choices, and the economics didn't work out on one ... no matter what, we were fracturing the userbase, and we had to start from scratch." <br />
<br />
He went on to explain that the content was simply too much for a platinum version of the game, and that a new release would render cross-game play between <em>SFIV</em> and <em>SSFIV</em> impossible due to differing "title IDs." Svensson also teased that those who played <em>SFIV</em> on the system for which they purchase <em>SSFIV</em> will get access to "a nifty little special set of things that those people will have the option of enjoying that others won't."<br />
<br />
Moving on to the subject of January's launch of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom">Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</a></em>, Svensson said, "We're a couple weeks in right now, and we've been doing re-orders. We're not at all dissatisfied with the sales at this point." As for long-term sales of the game, he added, "We are cautiously optimistic that it's going to have long legs ... the <em>Versus</em> series is well served by <em>Tatsunoko</em> as an outing. It really happens bring <em>Versus</em> back as a viable brand for Capcom." With any luck that means we'll see more ... <em>interesting</em> mashups from Capcom's Versus series in the coming years. Maybe <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/27/tatsunoko-producer-would-love-to-work-with-nintendo-square-on/">Nintendo or Square</a>? Were you up in the wee hours of the morning this past weekend, waiting in line for your chance to pick up <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom">Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</a></em> a bit early at the Nintendo World store in New York City? Yeah, neither were we, but Nintendo World Report was there and they asked producer Ryota Niitsuma a whole mess of questions about the game. <br />
<br />
Notably, when Niitsuma was asked what other franchises he might like to work with in future "vs." titles, the producer openly stated his desire to work with not just "a whole lot of" game developers in the US, but also that he'd "love to" work with Nintendo or Square Enix. As for us, we'd <em>love</em> the chance to shoryuken the hell out of Cloud Strife. But hey, who wouldn't?<br />

In bringing <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom">Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</a></em> to the US, the latter company is taking a pretty big risk -- but fighting game fans get an even bigger reward. Even if you've never heard of half of the characters in it, or don't really care about the amount of resources put into releasing it stateside -- complete with new characters, modes and online play -- you can't help but appreciate this oddball fighter because it's just <em>so damn good</em>.<br />
<br />
Looking at its roster and the fact that it's on the Wii, it would be easy to dismiss <em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em> as a gimmicky fighting game, but it's an honest-to-goodness hardcore entry that is among the very best Capcom has made in recent years. It's easy to get into, yet surprisingly deep and steeped in fan service. It's also one of the nicest looking games (so far) on Nintendo's console.<br />

Even though <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em></a> is already bordering on the legal limits of how many characters are simultaneously allowed in a single game, Capcom thought about adding others. We all knew (and are very depressed about) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/18/so-why-isnt-phoenix-wright-in-tatsunoko-vs-capcom/">the almost-inclusion of Phoenix Wright</a>, but according to a web chat with producer Ryota Niitsuma (via <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2010/01/20/capcom-tried-to-get-samurai-pizza-cats-for-tatsunoko-vs-capcom/">Siliconera</a>) the<em> Samurai Pizza Cats</em> were once considered for the game.<br />
<br />
"We at Capcom too, wanted to see the <em>Samurai Pizza Cats</em> in the game. We were in discussion with Tatsunoko Productions to try to get them in the game. It went right up the last minute, but it didn't go through," revealed Niitsuma. It didn't end there, either -- Capcom even considered putting in Speed Racer. Niitsuma commented that the hurdle with him was putting his race car into the game, something we find a bit odd considering the game has characters who are far larger and comprised of far more complicated mechanical parts than a stinkin' race car!<br />
<br />
In other news: Joystiq finally has a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/samurai-pizza-cats"><em>Samurai Pizza Cats</em></a> tag. May it console you in your time of need.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/21/report-samurai-pizza-cats-speed-racer-once-considered-for-tats/">Report: Samurai Pizza Cats, Speed Racer once considered for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 21 Jan 2010 16:15:00 EST. With the Wii-exclusive <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom">Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</a></em> dropping next week and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/super-street-fighter-iv">Super Street Fighter IV</a></em> on the horizon, Capcom sees fighting games as a focus for the company going forward. "For us, internally, fighting games are where it's at recently," we were told by <em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em> producer Ryota Niitsuma, who added that, "as a company, we'd like to keep making more of them because that's what we do and we do it well, and I think there's a future there for that."<br />
<br />
Although the company has produced a variety of 2D and 3D fighters in the past, Niitsuma pointed toward the likes of <em>Street Fighter IV</em> as a blueprint for its future fighting games. "I think we excel at making 2D fighting games. I think we have the knowledge and the know-how and the experience to make successful games in that style," he told us, explaining that, "right now, you see that we're trying to move away from straight-up traditional 2D fighting into what I guess you'd call '2.5D,' where you take the 3D fighter models and marry them to a 2D fighting plane. For now, that's the way we're going to go."<br />
<br />
Capcom still intends to test new ideas in that space between 2D and 3D, though. "There are all these things we can do ... you take the camera and move it around," Niitsuma said, gesturing with both hands to illustrate an in-game camera orbiting the fighters. "It's still a 2D fighting field, but the camera moves in a 3D space. That's just one possibility of something we'd like to be able to do."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/20/capcom-sees-bright-purely-2-5d-future-for-its-fighting-games/">Capcom sees bright, purely '2.5D' future for its fighting games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Jan 2010 20:00:00 EST. Speaking to Joystiq, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom">Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</a></em> producer Ryota Niitsuma has said that the prospect of future Capcom-made games based on Tatsunoko properties is indeed a possibility. "The reception of the game by Tatsunoko was quite positive," Niitsuma told us. "[Tatsunoko] saw how we were able to incorporate the characters very successfully into a fighting game, so I think that, in the future, that could lead to us using Tatsunoko characters in other ways."<br />
<br />
"I can't say there's any concrete information, or there have been any steps in that direction yet, but I think the possibility is there," he said. Niitsuma added that sales of <em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em>, which ships next week, will influence that possibility, saying, "if the sales of this game do good in the States, then I think that will open up many doors." Furthermore, Niitsuma said he feels that the game's status as a "Versus Series" title will likely sell more copies here than its inclusion of Tatsunoko characters.<br />
<br />
If there above image wasn't a dead giveaway, we'd certainly be up for a Capcom-developed <em>Gatchaman</em> action game. Let us know what <em>you'd</em> like to see in the comments.<br />

And right at the top of the list is a new DSi hardware bundle, to be released on February 12. If you don't feel like holding out one more month for the out-sized <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/14/dsi-xl-launching-in-europe-march-5/">DSi XL</a>, you can get a pink DSi with a copy of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/style-savvy"><em>Nintendo Presents Style Boutique</em></a>. <br />
<br />
In other hardware news, the company <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/news/2009/nintendo_swings_into_spring_with_exciting_new_hardware_and_games_15592.html">announced</a> that it will continue offering the previously limited-edition <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/27/pal-psa-black-wii-bundle-now-available-for-pre-order-discounte/">black Wii bundle</a>, which includes both <em>Wii Sportses</em>, a Wiimote, a Nunchuk, and a MotionPlus.<br />
<br />
As for the games, there's a <em>lot</em> coming up on Wii and DS in the next few months, including both <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em></a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/ace-attorney-investigations-miles-edgeworth"><em>Ace Attorney Investigations</em></a> from Capcom, <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/silent-hill-shattered-memories">Silent Hill: Shattered Memories</a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/phantasy-star-zero">Phantasy Star Zero</a></em>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/excitebike-world-rally"><em>Excitebike World Rally</em></a> and more.<br />

But Capcom <em>nailed</em> it with this TV commercial for <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars</em></a>, featuring stop-motion action figure combat between Ryu, Mega Man Volnutt, Ken the Eagle and Tekkaman Blade. The animation is well-done, the combat is well-choreographed and at no point do three generations of family giggle at you from a couch.<br />
<br />
Capcom says the commercial will be showing "in HD glory on USA, SyFy, Adult Swim and more starting next Monday." Provided it runs frequently enough and at good timeslots, this thing could actually sell some copies of the game. Check it out after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/15/stop-moving-and-watch-this-stop-motion-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-ad/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Stop moving and watch this stop-motion Tatsunoko vs. Capcom ad</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/15/stop-moving-and-watch-this-stop-motion-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-ad/">Stop moving and watch this stop-motion Tatsunoko vs. Capcom ad</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Jan 2010 20:30:00 EST. While it's currently undetermined whether all the new characters added for <em>Ultimate All-Stars</em> will have unique extra games, Capcom has revealed at least <em>one</em> new one: "<em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Shooters</em>," a vertically-scrolling, <em>Commando</em>-esque shooter starring the characters from the fighting game.<br />
<br />
The up-to-four-player minigame apparently features not only multiple stages, but branching paths, as well as special moves. It appears to be based on the <em>Lost Planet</em>-themed PTX-40A "AK Extermination Mission" minigame, but expanded. See a clip of <em>Ultimate All-Shooters</em> -- which appears to have been captured from VHS -- after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/12/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-adds-ultimate-all-shooters-minigame/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom adds 'Ultimate All-Shooters' minigame</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/12/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-adds-ultimate-all-shooters-minigame/">Tatsunoko vs. Capcom adds 'Ultimate All-Shooters' minigame</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Jan 2010 19:45:00 EST. First up, Capcom's Seth Killian struts his stuff in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs Capcom</em></a>, explaining the title for the unaware and showing off some of the combo-heavy gameplay behind it. Then, there's the Reggie Fils-Aime interview where he talks about the Nintendo Week program, some of the third-party support Nintendo platforms enjoyed in 2009 and <a href="http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/30/dsi-xl-faq-sized-up/&amp;ei=KntLS8aMJsHglAfH_8yKDQ&amp;sa=X&amp;oi=nshc&amp;resnum=1&amp;ct=result&amp;cd=1&amp;ved=0CAgQzgQoAA&amp;usg=AFQjCNGLQJt2oBlCkQJwtJUx9KLBsQUUfg">the DSi XL</a>. He also manages to bring up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/06/nintendo-ds2-to-feature-movement-sensor-new-wii-zelda-2010/">the upcoming <em>Zelda</em> game</a> without actually talking about it.<br />

After a successful partnership on XBLA/PSN release <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ssfiithdr">Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix</a></em> (breath), Udon Entertainment and Capcom are once again working together, though this time the <em>Street Fighter</em> comic book artists are adding endings to upcoming Wii fighter <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom">Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars</a></em>. Despite Udon's pedigree, the announcement post remains overwhelmingly humble, saying, "Everyone at Udon is very proud to have contributed to such an epic piece of video game and anime history." We haven't gotten our hands on any screens of the endings just yet, but we'll be sure to give you a gander as soon as we do.<br />

No, not bundles of <em>actual sticks</em>, but bundles of the Wii fighter <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em></a> and its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/05/official-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-fightstick-is-officially-real/">special edition FightStick</a>. Should you desire a copy of the game and the artwork laden stick, the bundle will set you back $124.95 at the <a href="http://shop.capcom.com/store/capcomus/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsPage/productID.170844300">Capcom Store</a>. Taking the individual prices of each product -- $49.99 for the game, $79.99 for the stick -- the bundle will save you a whopping <em>five dollars</em>. So yeah, it's not exactly the most amazing deal in the world, though we suppose it does save you the hassle of dealing with <em>two</em> boxes.<br />

Unsurprisingly, given the way the rest of the game has played out, she's utterly ridiculous, throwing giant heart-shaped electrical spark formations out and summoning a gigantic robot pelican!<br />
<br />
In addition to the videos, new screens featuring a Yatterman-1 and Yatterman-2 team document the kind of giant robot animal chaos you'll be able to unleash -- possibly with a branded <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/05/official-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-fightstick-is-officially-real/">implement</a> -- when the game comes out on January 26.<br />

For those of you unfamiliar with the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yatterman"><em>Yatterman</em></a> series, Yatterman-2 is the girlfriend of "Yatterman-1" Gan, who accompanies him on his superhero-ing work, and uses an electrified baton in fights. For the more pragmatic among you, Yatterman-2 is <em>another character you'll get to try in the game</em>, which should be exciting on its own merits. This is the last of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/10/rumor-frank-west-zero-to-be-in-tatsunoko-vs-capcom/">rumored new characters</a> to be revealed.<br />

You can see Yatterman-2 in action at GameSpot -- the character premiered exclusively on that site's "<a href="http://www.gamespot.com/shows/today-on-the-spot/?event=today_on_the_spot20100105">On the Spot</a>" video feature.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/06/one-more-new-challenger-for-tatsunoko-vs-capcom/">One more new challenger for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 Jan 2010 15:45:00 EST. Now, the peripheral maker has announced that the stick is <em>real</em> and will be out sometime this month, to coincide with <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom">the game</a> whose name and art it bears. It's so real that, as <a href="http://kotaku.com/5440499/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-stick-now-available-for-preorder">Kotaku</a> reports, you can <a href="http://store.gameshark.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=4736&amp;idCategory=115">pre-order one</a> from MadCatz's site!<br />
<br />
The stick connects to the Wiimote for a wireless-ish experience, a de facto upgrade over the wired connections used by the PS3 and Xbox 360 <em>Street Fighter IV </em>FightSticks. It'll retail for $79.99.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/05/official-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-fightstick-is-officially-real/">Official Tatsunoko vs. Capcom FightStick is officially real</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 Jan 2010 15:15:00 EST. </center><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em></a> proves that the Wii is a perfectly capable platform for fighting games -- except that it doesn't have a high-quality arcade stick. If these <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sdtekken/4137011130/">box images</a> found on MadCatz staffer Mark "MarkMan" Julio's Flickr stream are any indication, the company behind the <em>Street Fighter IV</em> FightSticks is going to take care of that. Julio posted two images of a retail box for a <em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em> FightStick using the same shape and layout as the company's Standard Edition <em>Street Fighter IV</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fightstick">FightStick</a> for PS3 and Xbox 360. It would seem that response to the <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-arcade-stick-mockups/">Comic-Con mockup</a> (seen above) was positive enough for the accessory manufacturer to go ahead with a retail release!<br />
<br />
The stick <em>may</em> be included in a special bundle for the game, as well. One Shoryuken forum user <a href="http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=7944900&amp;postcount=34">claims</a> to have found both a normal and arcade stick bundle SKU in the GameStop database. We've contacted Capcom and MadCatz to find out just <em>how</em> we'll be controlling a giant lighter in a fight against Mega Man.<br />

But those aren't the only changed. In every iteration of its fighting games, Capcom tweaks tiny behaviors and damage effects to balance the game. <br />
<br />
The fighting game obsessives at Shoryuken have produced a list of minute changes that will affect how the game works. For example, the Megacrash move (which pushes the opponent to the opposite side of the screen) now pushes <em>up</em> in addition to away. And Roll's air dash is faster. Check out the wonderfully informative <a href="http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=195175">post</a> for plenty more details that we never, ever would have noticed.<br />

Capcom has finally uploaded the massive box art for its latest <em>Vs </em>title onto the internet: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars</em></a>. It's very similar to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/04/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-boxart-will-look-fantastic-on-no-american-s/">the Japanese box art</a> for the original release, in that it's a bunch of the game's characters set against a white background. The difference between the two is that our localized version shows the characters staring each other down, likely thinking about how they're going to kick the crap out of each other. What a violent world these folks live in, eh?<br />
<br />
Head past the break for the full box art.<br />

So what if you weren't able to make it out to Capcom's second annual NYC Fight Club last night? Don't worry, we went -- and got trounced by the competition -- in your stead. Though <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/super-street-fighter-iv"><em>Super Street Fighter IV</em></a> was only there for Capcom to demo (and give a small handful of community members time with), we snapped pictures of <em>everything</em>. We also played a mess of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs Capcom</em></a> in a next to final build (yes, we put the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/14/zero-and-joe-the-condor-are-the-last-two-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-ch/">two recently revealed characters</a> through their paces), and even shot some video of legendary <em>Street Fighter</em> player turned Capcom employee Seth Killian demoing new <em>SSFIV</em> characters in front of a roaring crowd (550 or so people over the course of the night, a rep approximated for us -- more than double last year's attendance numbers). <br /><br />As we weren't able to get our hands on the three new fighters being showcased (Juri, Deejay, and T. Hawk), we talked to Jamal Brewster, a gentleman who exchanged kindness for some time with Deejay during one of the night's four live demos. "He doesn't feel cheap or overpowered .. he does feel good though, like he belongs in the game -- a lot of his moves have been retained from previous games," Brewster told us, echoing sentiments from Seth Killian earlier in the night. But how did you get chosen to play the game, you lucky dog? "One of the representatives here, she was almost passing out in the corner over there, and a friend of mine and I noticed this, so we did our best to try to help her out. We sat her down, gave her some water, and the people here were so grateful that they offered me a chance to play <em>Super Street Fighter IV</em> and they gave me an autographed hoodie of <em>Tatsunoko vs Capcom</em>." <br /><br />In case it wasn't already clear: Yes, Capcom Fight Club is most certainly <em>for the fans</em>. Hit the break for a video of the new characters in action (sorry about the quality -- it was really dark) and be sure to peep the gallery below -- it's just like you were there! We'll have a hands-on of <em>Tatsunoko vs Capcom</em>'s final two characters later on. <em>Promise</em>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/capcom-fight-club-nyc-year-2/">Capcom Fight Club NYC (Year 2)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/capcom-fight-club-nyc-year-2/#2390660"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/10/img_2371_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/capcom-fight-club-nyc-year-2/#2390625"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/10/img_2374_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/capcom-fight-club-nyc-year-2/#2390633"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/10/img_2363_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/capcom-fight-club-nyc-year-2/#2390618"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/10/img_2389_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/capcom-fight-club-nyc-year-2/#2390626"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/10/img_2377_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/23/we-get-beaten-up-at-capcoms-nyc-fight-club-so-you-dont-have-to/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>We get beaten up at Capcom's NYC Fight Club so you don't have to</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/23/we-get-beaten-up-at-capcoms-nyc-fight-club-so-you-dont-have-to/">We get beaten up at Capcom's NYC Fight Club so you don't have to</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 23 Oct 2009 20:00:00 EST. Joe the Condor (yet another <em>Gatchaman </em>character) and Mega Man X's pal Zero have joined the lineup. Only Yatterman #2 is unaccounted for. This isn't Zero's first appearance in a fighter; he appeared in his <span style="font-style: italic;">Mega Man Zero</span> style in<span style="font-style: italic;"> SNK vs. Capcom: SvC Chaos<span style="font-style: italic;"> </span></span>and <span style="font-style: italic;">Onimusha Blade Warriors</span>. This is, however, his first appearance in a good fighting game.<br /><br />Check out footage of both new characters in action after the break. Rather than being a simple palette swap of Mega Man Volnutt, Zero's attacks use his trademark energy sword. And Joe has a <span style="font-style: italic;">grappling hook/gun combo</span>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/14/zero-and-joe-the-condor-are-the-last-two-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-ch/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zero and Joe the Condor are the last two Tatsunoko vs. Capcom characters</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/14/zero-and-joe-the-condor-are-the-last-two-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-ch/">Zero and Joe the Condor are the last two Tatsunoko vs. Capcom characters</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Oct 2009 07:30:00 EST. There are some things we all know about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/tgs-2009-frank-west-is-rising-to-the-occasion-in-tatsunoko-vs/">Frank West</a>. He's covered wars (y'know), enjoys the potent effects of a well-blended smoothie and, with a mean 5 o'clock shadow, looks a great deal like Niko Belic. But, what you may not know is that despite lacking an entire mall's worth of weaponry, the dude is still a pretty solid fighter. <br /><br />Even though we've already put together <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/25/tgs-2009-hands-on-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-vs-that-guy-from-dead/">some words detailing the man's moves</a> in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom/"><em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em></a>, it's always nice to actually see that thing we talked about in motion. So, head past the break for a gameplay video of Capcom's Seth Killian demonstrating West's moves for <a href="http://tgs.gamespot.com/video/6229186/">GameSpot</a>. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/jgonzo/blog/2009/09/28/watch_seth_show_you_how_frank_west_works">Capcom-Unity</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/28/watch-frank-west-chop-his-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-opponents-til-th/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Watch Frank West chop his Tatsunoko vs. Capcom opponents 'til they drop</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/28/watch-frank-west-chop-his-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-opponents-til-th/">Watch Frank West chop his Tatsunoko vs. Capcom opponents 'til they drop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 Sep 2009 19:00:00 EST. I knew that the build being offered would include <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/tgs-2009-frank-west-is-rising-to-the-occasion-in-tatsunoko-vs/#continued">Frank West</a>. He's an admirable character, to be sure, and skilled at using retail goods to fend off hordes of zombies, but I wasn't sure his improvisational violence would translate well to the hand-to-hand, superhero-vs-superhero combat in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em></a>.<br /><br />Let's face it, the cel-shaded Frank in this game doesn't look great. All the other characters look like excellent 2D sprites, but Frank looks like a weird 3D model. However, Capcom has made a respectable fighting-game character out of Frank; one that borrows from an obvious source in Capcom fighting game crossover history: <em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2's</em> Jill Valentine. Frank shares Jill's ability to summon a zombie from either side of the screen, which will grapple with the opponent (or Frank) upon contact.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-tgs-2009/">Tatsunoko vs Capcom (TGS 2009)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-tgs-2009/#2311968"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ss0331_204251_all_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-tgs-2009/#2311967"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ss0331_194639_all_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-tgs-2009/#2311966"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ss0331_194142_all_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-tgs-2009/#2311965"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ss0331_201625_all_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-tgs-2009/#2311964"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ss0331_201508_all_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/25/tgs-2009-hands-on-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-vs-that-guy-from-dead/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TGS 2009: Hands-on: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom vs. that guy from Dead Rising</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/25/tgs-2009-hands-on-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-vs-that-guy-from-dead/">TGS 2009: Hands-on: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom vs. that guy from Dead Rising</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 Sep 2009 11:30:00 EST. Everyone's favorite wartime photojournalist and <em>Dead Rising </em>protagonist Frank West <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/jgonzo/blog/2009/09/23/tgs_2009_tatsunoko_vs_capcom_ultimate_allstars_its_frank_west_baby">was just confirmed</a> to be a contender in Capcom's upcoming inter-franchise brawler, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em></a>. This news comes two weeks after <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/10/rumor-frank-west-zero-to-be-in-tatsunoko-vs-capcom/">a number of the game's assets</a>, which indicated the appearance of West, <em>Mega Man</em> series regular Zero, and a bunch of anime characters we <em>absolutely</em> do not recognize, were leaked.<br /> <br /> You can check out a video demo of West's brawling expertise after the jump. Know where he learned to fight that well? Probably from his recent encounter with the unyielding zombocalypse. (What did you think we were going to say? "Because he's covered wars?" That just doesn't make any sense. Think before you speak, silly goose.)<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-tgs-2009/">Tatsunoko vs Capcom (TGS 2009)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-tgs-2009/#2311968"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ss0331_204251_all_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-tgs-2009/#2311967"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ss0331_194639_all_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-tgs-2009/#2311966"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ss0331_194142_all_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-tgs-2009/#2311965"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ss0331_201625_all_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-tgs-2009/#2311964"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/ss0331_201508_all_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/tgs-2009-frank-west-is-rising-to-the-occasion-in-tatsunoko-vs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TGS 2009: Frank West is rising to the occasion in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/tgs-2009-frank-west-is-rising-to-the-occasion-in-tatsunoko-vs/">TGS 2009: Frank West is rising to the occasion in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Sep 2009 00:00:00 EST. Shoryuken forum user mumu recently went <a href="http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=7456555&amp;postcount=1063">snooping</a> around the Japanese site for <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em></a> and uncovered some interesting items. Within the source code of the character section of the site, mumu found lines of code hinting towards the remaining secret characters:<br />
<ul>
    <li>'images/oncharactor_btn_zero.jpg'</li>
    <li>'images/oncharactor_btn_frank.jpg'</li>
    <li>'images/oncharactor_btn_yatter02.jpg'</li>
    <li> 'images/oncharactor_btn_joe.jpg'</li>
    <li> 'images/oncharactor_btn_tekkabla.jpg'</li>
</ul>
So, aside from yesterday's <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/09/09/rumor-a-new-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-challenger-appears/">Tekkaman Blade</a>, mumu postulates that <em>Dead Rising</em>'s Frank West and Zero from the <em>Mega Man</em> series are also going to be in the game and, on the Tatsunoko side, we'll get Yatterman #2 from <em>Yatterman</em> and Joe Asakura from <em>Gatchaman</em>. If you'll excuse us, we'll be crying in the corner, objecting once again to the lack of <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/08/18/so-why-isnt-phoenix-wright-in-tatsunoko-vs-capcom/">Phoenix Wright</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/09/10/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-ultimate-all-stars-roster-leaked/">Siliconera</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/10/rumor-frank-west-zero-to-be-in-tatsunoko-vs-capcom/">Rumor: Frank West, Zero to be in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Sep 2009 13:30:00 EST. You know how Capcom said that the North American and European releases of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs Capcom</em></a> would have some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/24/tatsunoko-vs-capcoms-four-new-characters-to-be-revealed-at-tgs/">new faces</a> not seen in the original Japanese release? Well, you could be looking at one of them from the <em>Tatsunoko </em>side as reader Vincent tipped us on <a href="http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee213/rayne21x/1252469089386.jpg">the above scan</a>. Vinny says the dude is <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tekkaman_Blade">Tekkaman Blade</a>, who originally appeared in what is known as <em>an anime</em>. We're not sure what this <em>anime</em> is or what it does exactly, but as soon as we <em>crack that code</em>, we'll be sure to let you all know. While we do that, be sure to keep those fingers crossed for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/18/so-why-isnt-phoenix-wright-in-tatsunoko-vs-capcom/">our pal Phoenix Wright</a>.<br /><br />[Thanks, Vincent!]<br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/09/rumor-a-new-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-challenger-appears/">Rumor: A new Tatsunoko vs Capcom challenger appears</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Sep 2009 11:30:00 EST. Capcom have revealed it will announce four new characters for the US and European release of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Tatsunoko-vs-Capcom/">Tatsunoko vs Capcom</a></em> at the 2009 Tokyo Game Show. The four characters -- two from Capcom and two from Tatsunoko -- were teased to <a href="http://gamescom.gamespot.com/story/6216031/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-ultimate-all-stars-hands-on">Gamespot</a> at GamesCom by producer Ryota Niitsuma, but the game's producer would not name the additions. We're still holding out hope for some Phoenix Wright love, even though the fighting game's dev team claimed the character was once added but <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/08/18/so-why-isnt-phoenix-wright-in-tatsunoko-vs-capcom/">removed due to balance issues</a>.<br /><br /><em>Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars</em> adds an <strike>improved</strike> online mode, with skill level matchmaking allowing US and European players to face-off against gamers from around the world. A release date has yet to be revealed for the Wii-exclusive, but we're almost positive that whatever it is, it <em>won't</em> be soon enough.<br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/24/tatsunoko-vs-capcoms-four-new-characters-to-be-revealed-at-tgs/">Tatsunoko vs Capcom's four new characters to be revealed at TGS 2009</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Aug 2009 00:30:00 EST. Honestly, we're only about 50 percent sure we believe Ryota Niitsuma when he explains why video game lawyer Phoenix Wright didn't get the chance to battle in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em></a>, but we thought you should decide for yourself. <br /><br />The producer told NGamer that Phoenix's one attack -- shouting at his opponent -- would have been a fine size in Japanese ("igiari" can be written in four characters), but when translating that shout to the 10 characters in "Objection" ... well, we should let Niitsuma explain it: "When we localize, the balance of the game gets destroyed because the move becomes bigger. There'd be no way of avoiding it! We had to remove [Phoenix] for these reasons. In the future, it is one of our aims to get him in."<br /><br />OK, upon re-reading, we're now 99 percent sure that he's joking. Still, it's funny, right? Read the interview <a href="http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j161/RadioSonic/RadioShadow%20/PWArticle.jpg">for yourself here</a>, or, better yet, just go buy the magazine.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/93934-Why-Phoenix-Wright-Was-Cut-From-Tatsunoko-vs-Capcom">The Escapist</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/18/so-why-isnt-phoenix-wright-in-tatsunoko-vs-capcom/">So, why isn't Phoenix Wright in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Aug 2009 12:00:00 EST. Capcom has dropped word on the titles it plans to feature at the GamesCom Conference in <span lang="EN-GB" style="font-family: Arial;">Cologne</span> later this month, and (for the most part) the games feature a hearty scoop of violence. Kicking things off with the oft-delayed <em>Dark Void</em>, Capcom will feature <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Tatsunoko-vs-Capcom">Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Monster-Hunter-Tri/">Monster Hunter Tri</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Spyborgs/">Spyborgs</a></em> for the Wii, along with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Lost-Planet-2/">Lost Planet 2</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/MotoGP-09-10/">MotoGP 09/10</a></em> for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.<br /> <br /> To promote the Rocketeer/alien battle simulator <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Dark-Void/">Dark Void</a></em>, Capcom is hosting an event in which attendees can take flight in the <em>Dark Void Body Flying Machine</em>, a rigged, vertically-oriented airstream shooting gamers into the air at speeds of up to 180km/h. Luckily, Capcom is also sponsoring taxis throughout <span lang="EN-GB" style="font-family: Arial;">Cologne</span>, so if something goes wrong during its "sounds like a tremendous idea on paper" <em>gamer cannon</em> event, attendees can make their way safely to the emergency room. GamesCom runs from August 19-23 in Cologne, Germany.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/11/capcom-reveals-gamescom-2009-lineup-safety-hazard/">Capcom reveals GamesCom 2009 lineup, safety hazard</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Aug 2009 16:00:00 EST. Asked whether a followup game would appear on the Wii or HD consoles, he said "As the way I'm seeing it now, the sequels will be on the Wii as well." <br /><br />He actually had some nice, fan-friendly reasoning for the declaration, different from his <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/11/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-wont-leave-wii-sales-could-spur-sequel/">earlier statement</a> about technical issues keeping the series on Wii. "If people are going to invest in this game, like we want them to," he said, "they're going to go out and buy arcade sticks. It would be a disservice to fans to just put out this one game that they buy sticks for and then they have nothing more to play."<br /><br />Niitsuma also spoke a little more about the absence of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/27/confirmed-no-genie-character-in-north-american-tatsunoko-vs-ca/">Hakushon Daimao</a> and the plan to replace him with "around three to four, maybe more" and the difficulty of designing online games for Wii.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/31/if-theres-a-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-sequel-it-will-be-on-wii/">If there's a Tatsunoko vs. Capcom sequel, it will be on Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 31 Jul 2009 18:30:00 EST. Last week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sdcc-2009/">San Diego Comic-Con</a> was one crazy ride. The Joystiq representatives in attendance were trained in advanced interrogation tactics and managed to extract information on a variety of subjects. We've got <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/24/peter-jackson-tells-joystiq-about-the-halo-movie-video-games/">an update</a> from Peter Jackson himself on the <em>Halo</em> happenings, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/see-south-park-lets-go-tower-defense-play-in-action/">first footage</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/south-park-lets-go-tower-defense-play"><em>South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play!</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/thars-gold-rush-in-them-thar-uncharted-2/">a new game mode</a> for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted-2"><em>Uncharted 2</em></a>! Friend, you missed one heck of a week.<br /><br />But, that's okay! You can get caught up right here, right now. Simply head past the break for a complete summary of all the headlines.<br />

Producer Ryota Niitsuma confirmed to Siliconera that Hakushon Daimao, the big genie character, won't be in the North American version. This is the "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/29/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-roster-may-change-for-north-american-releas/">minor pruning</a>" to which Capcom previously alluded.<br /><br />"We had some licensing issues with him so we weren't able to obtain him for the American version," Niitsuma told <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/07/27/the-missing-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-character-is/">Siliconera</a>. Apparently, the original <em>Hakushon Daimao</em> show ran <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=1755">across the world</a> in the '70s, so the holdout could be any number of companies. <br /><br />Niitsuma said that "new characters" would replace Daimao -- confirmation of the "<a href="http:// http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/02/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-gets-online-play-5-new-characters-for-north/">five new characters</a>" promised on Capcom's press release (which was later reissued with no mention of new characters)? We can only hope that one of <em>those</em> characters will feature Daimao's math minigame. Or not, actually.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/27/confirmed-no-genie-character-in-north-american-tatsunoko-vs-ca/">Confirmed: no genie character in North American Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 27 Jul 2009 16:50:00 EST. We were <em>really</em> impressed with the fighting game translation of Joe -- it looks <em>just </em>like Viewtiful Joe from his own game. We're <em>very</em> glad Capcom didn't give up on putting Joe in a fighting game after, you know, the <em>Viewtiful Joe </em>fighting game.<br /><br />Head past the break at mach speed to see another video of these four characters in action. It's a "non-playable mockup" that Mad Catz is showing off at Comic-Con. <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/grant008/blog/2009/07/23/tatsunoko_vs_capcomua__new_mc_joystick_at_comiccon">Capcom-Unity</a> reports that Mad Catz is soliciting feedback about the stick -- presumably not only about the design, but about the level of interest among Wii owners for a high-end arcade stick. Yes, <em>please!</em><br /><br />We were wondering if Mad Catz would step up to support <em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em>. Currently, our only arcade stick option in the US is the Hori Fighting Stick Wii, and that's getting hard to find. We'd love to be able to, like, go to a store and buy a nice arcade stick.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-arcade-stick-mockups/">Comic-Con 2009: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom arcade stick mockups from Mad Catz</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Jul 2009 14:15:00 EST. No, it's the <em>ridiculous</em>, super-fast aerial combat. Unfortunately, if you're not directly engaged in said combat (or even if you<em> are</em>), it can be <em>way</em> too frantic and flashy to understand. <br /><br />The <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><span style="font-style: italic;">Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</span></a> clip above, and the other after the break, demonstrate this issue. Yatterman and Doronjo (from the <em>Yatterman</em> anime), and Saki and Morrigan (from <span style="font-style: italic;">Quiz Nanairo Dreams </span>and <span style="font-style: italic;">Darkstalkers</span>, respectively) go into battle, and then ... a bunch of stuff happens, causing <span style="font-style: italic;">billions</span> of unspecified units of damage, and then suddenly it's over. We don't really know what happened, but we know we want to be involved in it.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/13/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-clips-cause-billions-in-damage/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom clips cause billions in damage</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/13/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-clips-cause-billions-in-damage/">Tatsunoko vs. Capcom clips cause billions in damage</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 Jul 2009 17:00:00 EST. Capcom has squashed the dreams of those hopeful its newest cross-over fighter, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tatsunoko-vs-capcom"><em>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom</em></a>, will come to PS3 and/or Xbox 360. Speaking to <a href="http://www.videogamer.com/news/capcom_no_plans_for_tatsunoko_vs_capcom_xbla_psn_port.html">VideoGamer.com</a>, the game's producer, Ryota Niitsuma, stated that the effort required to port the heavily Wii-optimized title would be considerable. "If we were to port it to PS3 or Xbox 360 we would have to make the game from scratch, and in that case we might as well just make a sequel of the series on those consoles rather than porting it," he told the site.<br /><br />Not confirmation of a sequel, but a promising comment nonetheless. Niitsuma said that "we would like to see the reaction of the western market when we release the game on Wii," with regard to bringing the series to other platforms. Since Niitsuma wouldn't say it himself, we'll go ahead and do it for him: "Buy the first one if you want to see a sequel." See, that wasn't so hard.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/11/tatsunoko-vs-capcom-wont-leave-wii-sales-could-spur-sequel/">Tatsunoko vs. Capcom won't leave Wii, sales could spur sequel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 11 Jul 2009 00:00:00 EST.
