We've seen food trucks, and crazy shoes, and full-on jets, but we've yet to see a live tattoo application, not to mention one based on a video game.

Enter: Far Cry 3.

Ubisoft hired a local tattoo artist to pre-screen attendees for the tattoo you see being applied just above. Rather than a Far Cry 3 logo, tattooees (not tattooines) are getting a tribal tattoo ripped from the game. Maybe a game logo should have been the way to go -- to help you remember when you explain this art's origin by the time you're 80.

They've been adorned, as you can see, with not one but two mirrored logos for Peter Molyneux's Lionhead Studios.

Though the end product is pretty impressive, we can't help but be a little disappointed to see that it doesn't cover his entire body, glow in the dark and emit soothing jazz music at opportune moments as Molyneux originally promised.

As it turns out, the Super Mario Bros.-themed images of Princess Peach and a Star are a bit too graphic for use on Joystiq. They are, however, quite unique - rather than the ol' ink-permanently-embedded-in-skin treatment of traditional tattoos, the aforementioned two employ a method of tattooing that involves skin removal. Check out the original shots over at BodyMod.org if you want to see 'em, but click through at your own discretion.

APB was probably one of the most impressive games we didn't actually see played at E3 -- while Realtime Worlds didn't have any actual gameplay to show off, they did have a nice demo session (in a booth guarded by these two tattooed ladies -- don't worry, EJ's wife, we asked him to pose for this one) where they talked about how their persistent MMO shooter will combine emergent cops-and-robbers gameplay with an extremely impressive level of customization.

After the demo session, lead designer EJ Moreland sat down with us, and cleared up most of the wanted bounties we still had on the game: what's advancement like? How is the game using Last.fm? And just how will they balance out the ad-hoc gameplay of criminals committing crimes and enforcers catching them with the usual MMO process of character advancement? Read on for more.

Gamer tattoos are not that much of a new thing, but we like highlighting some of the more unique and amusing kinds of gaming-related skin art. This piece in particular portrays the rhythmically-obsessed Patapons marching off to war. Fan Masatomo Ueda had this tat etched upon his arm and chest, and judging by the expression on his face he seems really freaked out by the little dudes and their spear carrying ways. Oh uh, Masa, just make sure you steer clear from drum beats or else those Patapons will do you in.

GameDaily has a gallery chock-full of fresh video game tattoos, one of the boldest ways you can make a commitment both to a beloved hobby and virginity simultaneously. (Trust us.) Though many of the tattoos are cool (we especially like the stained-glass Link) the ones that really caught our eye were Portal-based tats you see above.

It's impressive, and not just because of the permanence. Think of it. This cat beat Portal and said "That was such a great experience, I'm going to go out and get needles jammed into me for longer than it took to complete it." That's real love, right there. Real love.

More than a few readers sent us word about these gamer tattoos above that were featured on Albotas. (Higher-res: invader, invincibility star). The owner of the inkage, Robby, told us the history of each tattoo. The invincibility star was a Valentine's Day present from his girlfriend in 2006, while the Space Invader tattoo was actually a gift from his mom for his 22nd birthday, also in 2006.

"Every year theres a tattoo convention called Forged in Ink in my humble little city of Reading, PA and that's where the tattoo was done," he told Joystiq. "I got it because I've always been a fan of shooter games, especially the bullet hell games, and Space Invaders is like the grandpappy of all shooters."

When you think about it, it's probably best that Average Joes like Mario and Luigi are the only ones getting sucked into the Mushroom Kingdom. Imagine if this guy, who gave his whole back for a Mario-themed tattoo stepped into the wrong warp pipe and ended up face-to-face with the bros. and the princess. "Oh, you have a picture of my face on-a your back," Mario might say as he instinctively rose his hands to protect a completely freaked out Peach. "That's-a ... nice."

That being said, we can't wait to see what this thing looks like when it's all filled in. Also, if the guy gets a character from Doki Doki Panic crying somewhere behind his kneecap, we're willing to elect him mayor of video games.

P.S. The blogger wants you to know he recognizes the irony in having fun with anyone's gaming-related tattoo.

Go Nintendo reader Olivier sent them pictures of his tattoos, an armband featuring controller ports from Nintendo's various consoles: NES, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, and GameCube.

There's something very eXistenZ about having gaming ports on your body; admittedly, they're not on his lower spine... though that would be a cool tattoo.
