<br />
This year's <a href="http://evo2k.com/">EVO Championship Series</a> was <em>bonkers</em>, you guys. Not only did MVC legend Justin Wong get <em>perfected </em>into third place during the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/marvel-vs-capcom-3-fate-of-two-worlds"><em>Marvel vs Capcom 3</em></a> grand finals, but <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daigo_Umehara">The Beast</a> took a bewildering fourth place in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/super-street-fighter-4-arcade-edition"><em>Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition</em></a>, ending two consecutive years of first-place victories.<br />
<br />
This was also the first EVO ever to feature a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Mortal-Kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> game, which is a major victory for both NetherRealm Studios and the <em>MK</em> kommunity. Historically, <em>Mortal Kombat</em> titles have never been considered balanced or polished enough to participate in high-level tournaments, and EVO's seal of approval goes a long way in legitimizing <em>Mortal Kombat</em> in the eyes of the fighting community.<br />
<br />
Check out the highlights reel above for some incredible displays of skill, dedication, and <em>heart</em>, and be sure to peep the full list of winners and finalists <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/01/evo-2011-results-roundup/#continued">after the break</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/01/evo-2011-results-roundup/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EVO 2011 Results Roundup</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/01/evo-2011-results-roundup/">EVO 2011 Results Roundup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 01 Aug 2011 14:30:00 EST. Turning fighting games into movies is something that we actually appreciate quite a bit. These movies end up being so bad, they come all the way back around the spectrum to good. Films like <em>Street Fighter</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/27/doa-movie-even-deader-after-arrival/"><em>DOA: Dead or Alive</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/29/king-of-fighters-movie-trailer-giving-us-street-fighter-flashbac/"><em>The King of Fighters</em></a> will always have a special place in our hearts <em>-- </em>and now, with this latest trailer for the Blu-ray and DVD release (slated for July 19), it would seem <em>Tekken: The Movie</em> is on track to be on that list.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/03/tekken-live-action-movie-trailer-is-so-bad-its-good/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Tekken live action movie trailer is so bad it's good</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/03/tekken-live-action-movie-trailer-is-so-bad-its-good/">Tekken live action movie trailer is so bad it's good</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 03 Jun 2011 05:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/10/namco-bandai-climbs-out-of-the-red-with-pair-of-million-sellers/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/tekken-6-kangaroo-fight-530w.jpg" style="border-width: 1px; border-style: solid; margin: 4px;" /></a></div>
For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011, Namco Bandai's "<a href="http://www.bandainamco.co.jp/en/about/business/content.html">Content</a>" division -- which includes both home-console and arcade games, in addition to music and video products -- increased sales just enough to post a modest operating income of &yen;3.09 billion ($38.5 million). In turn, the company turned around from the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/07/namco-bandai-game-segment-records-annual-losses/">previous fiscal year's net loss</a> to scrounge up &yen;3.78 billion ($46.9 million) in profit.<br />
<br />
The publisher put out 88 games (including individual iterations of multiplatform titles) across six systems, selling roughly 20.9 million software units in the 12-month period. Its efforts were focused primarily on handheld releases, with 30 games on DS -- plus three more for the 3DS launch -- and 29 for PSP. The company's two bestselling titles during the fiscal year, however, were for home consoles: 2009's still-kicking <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tekken-6"><em>Tekken 6</em></a> accounted for 1.15 million unit sales on PS3 and Xbox 360 in the US alone, and <em>Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2</em> sold 1.1M units worldwide on those same consoles, according to the company's financial highlights document [<a href="http://www.bandainamco.co.jp/files/EFBC88E88BB1E8AA9EEFBC89E38390E383B3E38380E382A4E3.pdf">PDF</a>].<br />
<br />
While <em>Naruto</em> performed above initial expectations, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/enslaved-odyssey-to-the-west"><em>Enslaved</em></a> failed to muster numbers in line with even the <em>revised</em> sales forecast reset by Namco Bandai in November. Ninja Theory's action-adventure had to settle for 730,000 units sold across PS3 and 360, falling short of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/08/enslaved-underperforms-for-namco-naruto-exceeds-expectations/">hoped-for</a> 800K mark. As for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/splatterhouse"><em>Splatterhouse </em></a>and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/majin-and-the-forsaken-kingdom">Majin</a>,</em> the publisher did not report their individual sales, as both titles' performances seemingly fell below 400K units (Namco Bandai's cutoff line for "Main Game Titles," as they appear in the financial highlights report).<br />
<br />
For the current fiscal year, which began April 1, Namco Bandai forecasts continued gains resulting in &yen;8 billion in profit. The publisher has plans to release 90 games during the period, including 26 titles bound for PS3. Props to anyone that can name <em>three</em> of them! (No googling.)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/10/namco-bandai-climbs-out-of-the-red-with-pair-of-million-sellers/">Namco Bandai climbs out of the red with pair of million-sellers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 May 2011 11:30:00 EST. In order to <em>tek</em> (okay, we'll stop) advantage of this deal, you have to be a member of Best Buy's free "<a href="https://myrewardzone.bestbuy.com/programOverview.jspx">Reward Zone</a>," and you must use this <a href="https://myrewardzone.bestbuy.com/viewDetails.jspx?tc=CPN_TEK">printable coupon</a> in-store before August 22. But that's hardly $20 worth of work.<br />

The fighting title sold 1.07 million copies in the US in that quarter, giving a clue as to why Namco Bandia would be so eager to collaborate with Capcom on <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/street-fighter-x-tekken">Street Fighter x Tekken</a></em> -- it means more <em>Tekken</em> games. <br />
<br />
The next best-selling game in the quarter was the third <em>Taiko Drum Master</em> game on DS, which sold 170,000 copies in Japan; <em>Ben 10 Alien Force</em>, a title published by subsidiary D3 Publisher, sold 110,000 in the US and Europe and the latest <em>Super Robot Wars</em> for DS sold 110,000 in Japan.<br />
<br />
Overall, the "content" division brought in &yen;32.9 billion ($385 million) in net sales in the quarter, up from &yen;20.2 billion last year. How is it up with lowered sales? Well, this year, the visual and musical content divisions were integrated with the game division. So it's kind of a technicality. It only lost &yen;619 million in operating losses, compared to last Q1's &yen;4.1 billion<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/07/tekken-6-leads-namco-bandais-q1-sales/">Tekken 6 leads Namco Bandai's Q1 sales</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 07 Aug 2010 14:30:00 EST. Namco Bandai's "Content" segment, which combines its video game software and arcade machine products, recorded &yen;6.86 billion ($74.68 million) in operating losses for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2010. The division proved the most <em>costly</em> for the company, which also runs a successful "Toys &amp; Hobby" segment, in addition to several other businesses.<br />
<br />
Overall, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/namco-bandai/">Namco Bandai</a> suffered &yen;29.08 billion ($317.28 million) in net losses for fiscal 2010, but the company forecasts a modest turnaround in net income of &yen;4.5 billion ($49.1 million) for the current fiscal year. The games segment, which this fiscal year includes the previously separate "Visual and Music Content" division, is forecast to post &yen;3.5 billion ($38.19 million) in operating income over the next four quarters; aided by an estimated 90 game releases, which are predicted to bring in &yen;88 billion ($960 million) in sales.<br />
<br />
In fiscal 2010, Namco Bandai software sales, which encompassed 86 titles (or 225, if you're counting localized versions), totaled 22.737 million units and &yen;77 billion ($840 million); with portable games accounting for a significant 9.701 million units sold. Multiplatform versions of <em>Ben 10 Alien Force</em> and its sequel, <em>Ben 10 Alien Force: Vilgax Attacks,</em> in the US and Europe during the fiscal year, combined to sell 1.89 million copies alone. The console version of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6/">Tekken 6</a></em> was the publisher's only title to move more units than either of those two <em>Ben 10</em> games. A third <em>Ben 10</em> title, <em>Protector of the Earth,</em> added another 610,000 units sold in the fiscal year.<br />
<br />
Across all Namco Bandai products, "Ben 10" the franchise racked up &yen;17.9 billion ($195.3 million) in sales. Not quite Mobile Suit Gundman numbers (&yen;34.6 billion), <em>but still</em>.<br />
<br />
Head past the break for the complete list of Namco Bandai's top-10 bestsellers and sales distribution by platform.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/07/namco-bandai-game-segment-records-annual-losses/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Namco Bandai game segment records annual losses ... but Ben 10 sales soar!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/07/namco-bandai-game-segment-records-annual-losses/">Namco Bandai game segment records annual losses ... but Ben 10 sales soar!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 07 May 2010 17:58:00 EST. It's a tough economic time the world over, but Namco Bandai appears to really be taking it on the Heihachin according to a report from <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/namco-post-giant-nine-month-loss">Edge</a>. During the nine months ending on Dec. 31, 2009, the company posted a $129.05 million loss, compared to a $99.5 million profit during the same period in 2008.<br />
<br />
Perhaps it should come as no surprise that the company has also announced layoffs, or rather a "<a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/namco-bandai-to-cut-630-jobs">group restart plan</a>" that translates to 650 staffers (about 10 percent of the company) losing their jobs. We hope Namco finds a way back to profitability, but when some of its biggest titles for 2010 include <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dead-to-rights-retribution">a new entry</a> in a forgettable series (thus far), a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/splatterhouse">troubled relaunch</a> of a fan favorite and a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/majin">promising game</a> that disappeared almost as soon as it was announced, we're not convinced the recovery process will be a quick one.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/02/namco-bandai-suffers-losses-cuts-staff/">Namco Bandai suffers losses, cuts staff</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Feb 2010 10:25:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left; ">Good news if you're sick of playing <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6">Tekken 6</a></em> online purely for the purpose of beating up on your friends -- come January 18, you can beat up on computer-controlled opponents together instead, thanks to an incoming patch. The title update for PS3 and Xbox 360 will add online co-op to the Scenario Campaign of the game, along with voice chat. (You know, for working out those incredibly deep strategies -- "I'll punch the guy on the left!") <br />
<br />
Mokujin's AI has also been tweaked for online versus play, causing his fighting style to change every round. He won't voice chat with you, though. Sorry.</div>

Have you been hoping, nay, <em>dreaming</em> of snagging one of the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6"><em>Tekken 6</em></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/22/tekken-6-wireless-sticks-revealed-priced/">arcade stick bundles</a> but have been hesitant to plunk down the $150 asking price? This post is for you then, as Amazon has positively <em>slashed</em> the price of the bundle on both PS3 and 360 version, knocking them down to a paltry <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Tekken-Limited-Wireless-Bundle-Xbox-360/dp/B002ED4DQI%3FSubscriptionId%3D1HNR25YV8YH9B5YHX902%26tag%3Ddealzon-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB002ED4DQI">$78</a>. Seventy-eight bones! That's only $18 bucks more than your average game <em>and</em> it includes the <em>Tekken 6</em> Hori arcade stick to boot.<br />
<br />
If you, or the digital pugilist in your life, haven't picked this up yet, it probably won't get much cheaper than this.<br />

A <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/tekken-6-free--gameplay-tweaking-update-available-on-thursday">free update</a>, launching on November 26, hopes to end the woes <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6"><em>Tekken 6</em></a> players have encountered in the online King of Iron Fists Tournament. The update should improve connectivity between players and will add selectable search priorities for ranked matches. <br /><br />Namco also aims to improve the responsiveness of button input and will add a cancel option for the first few seconds of a match should you disapprove of your opponent's signal strength. Or, in our case, should you find they're using a super cheap character like Devil Jin. But we can't groan about Namco Bandai using DLC for the popular fighter as a cash machine, because the company doesn't intend to charge for it. Harada said there was a "strong possibility" of additional downloadable content for the game -- possibly for the PSP version as well, since he didn't specify. "However, even if we were to do so, it would be free to the end user."<br />
<br />
Of course, this is the same company that released <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/17/soulcalibur-iv-getting-vader-and-yoda-dlc/">paid Star Wars DLC</a> for <em>Soul Calibur IV</em> after the director said <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/01/no-star-wars-dlc-for-soul-calibur-iv-says-games-director/">there wouldn't be</a>. So don't go empty out your <em>Tekken 6</em> DLC fund just yet.<br />

Here it is, folks: your chance to beat up relatives all throughout the holiday season, albeit from the relative safeness of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6"><em>Tekken 6</em></a>'s confines! For this week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/swag-saturday">Swag Saturday</a>, we're giving out a copy of <em>Tekken 6</em> for the Xbox 360 to one lucky commenter who tells us which fictitious holiday character (think: Santa, the Easter Bunny) they'd like to beat up the most, and with which <em>Tekken 6</em> character they'd like to do so with. Fancy a battle of Kuma vs The Tooth Fairy? Perhaps Jack-6 vs George Washington (wait, he was <em>real</em>?!)? We want to hear about it!<br />
<ul>
    <li>Leave a comment telling us which fictitious holiday character (Santa, the Easter Bunny, etc.) you'd like to beat up most, and with which <em>Tekken 6</em> character they'd like to do so with.</li>
    <li>You must be 18 years or older and a resident of the US or Canada (excluding Quebec, mostly due to the gravitational quotient of poutine)</li>
    <li><strong>Limit 1 entry per person per day</strong></li>
    <li>This entry period ends at <strong>6:01PM ET on Sunday, November 22<br />
    </strong></li>
    <li>At that time, we'll randomly select one winner to receive one copy of <em>Tekken 6</em> for Xbox 360 ($60 ARV).</li>

The PS3 version of Platinum Games' action title sold 135,242 copies in its first week, topping the Media Create sales chart. The Xbox version had a good launch for an Xbox 360 game in Japan, at 64,325 copies. It wasn't a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/12/re5-tops-japanese-sales-ps3-version-tops-360-nearly-4-1/"><em>Resident Evil 5</em></a>-size launch on either console, though the Xbox 360 version came close, and it wasn't a <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2009/07/03/wii_sports_resort_media_create/"><em>Wii Sports Resort</em></a>-level sensation, but it should be enough to be considered a successful launch.<br />
<br />
This is Platinum Games's second launch in Japan, and it's the <em>second</em> to debut at the top of the charts. <em>Infinite Space</em> on DS took the winning position back in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/19/infinite-space-takes-space-at-top-of-japanese-charts/">June</a>, with a comparatively modest 38,394 copies. <em>MadWorld</em>, Platinum's other game, has <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/09/11/madworld-headed-to-japan-not-being-published-by-sega/">yet to be released</a> in Japan.<br />
<br />
The number two and three spots on Media Create's chart are also occupied by new games: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/tgs-2009-hands-on-four-warriors-of-light-final-fantasy-gaiden/"><em>Four Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden</em></a>, the new <em>Final Fantasy</em> for DS made by Matrix Software, and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6"><em>Tekken 6</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/06/bayonetta-launch-continues-platinums-winning-streak/">Bayonetta launch continues Platinum's winning streak</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Nov 2009 15:00:00 EST. Those of you taking your King of the Iron Fist Tournament fighters to the internet have been experiencing some major issues, notably: when trying to compete online in any sort of meaningful way, you're met with acute, game-ending connectivity issues. Namco recognized that today and issued a response, stating, "To improve the online game experience for players ... Namco Bandai games is developing a downloadable update which will be available as soon as it has passed rigorous testing procedures." <br /> <br /> Unfortunately, no date for the patch has been given, though the publisher does add, "This is separate from the online co-op <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/19/tekken-6-trailer-doles-out-story-scenario-mode-no-sense/">Scenario Campaign mode</a> update." We've pestered Namco for more details on exactly what the patch will aim to fix and when we might hear more about it but, until that time, know this: <em>something</em> is being fixed at <em>some</em> point.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/04/tekken-6-online-patch-in-the-works-says-namco/">Tekken 6 online patch in the works, says Namco</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 04 Nov 2009 18:20:00 EST. There may be extra incentive to check out the PSP version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6"><em>Tekken 6</em></a>, as <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/11/03/portable-tekken-6-fleshes-out-lars-and-alisas-stories/">Siliconera</a> reports the handheld port will feature story modes for newcomers Lars and Alisa. The news originally fought its way onto the net via online retailer <a href="http://item.rakuten.co.jp/edigi/jan-4582224497300/">Rakuten</a>, but the page has since been pulled, with no new listing surfacing. The PSP port will also apparently replace the console version's Scenario Mode with Gold Rush Mode, where each fight earns the player money to customize their character. <br />
<br />
Many of you may have noticed the game failed to meet <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/23/tekken-6-release-date-october-27-in-north-america/">its October 27 release date</a>, just as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-next-to-fall-from-fall-09-our-predictions/2190212/">we thought</a> it would -- several retailers now peg down the US release for November 29, while it looks like Japan will have to wait until January 14, 2010.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/04/rumor-tekken-6-psp-adds-story-modes-for-lars-and-alisa/">Rumor: Tekken 6 PSP adds Story modes for Lars and Alisa</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 04 Nov 2009 12:45:00 EST. Another <em>football</em> game came out in the UK last week and, once again, it came in first place in the region's weekly software sales charts. This time around, the game was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/football-manager-2010"><em>Football Manager 2010</em></a>, in which soccer isn't played, but rather, <em>managed</em>. That's far too boring a concept to discuss further, so instead, let's move to the other big debuts:<em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wii-fit-plus">Wii Fit Plus</a></em>, for instance, came in second place for the week, which is -- wait a minute. Doesn't <em>Wii Fit Plus</em> have a "Soccer Heading" minigame? Oh, Nintendo. You know <em>exactly</em> what you're doing.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/episodes-from-liberty-city"><em>Episodes From Liberty City</em></a> and<em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6">Tekken 6</a></em> also made a splash during their launch week, garnering sixth and eighth place finishes, respectively. However, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dj-hero"><em>DJ Hero</em></a> seems to be following <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/25/guitar-hero-co-founder-expects-dj-hero-to-have-slower-initial-sa/">its expected, slow-starting sales trajectory</a>, debuting at twentieth place in last week's chart. We've got a small suggestion for FreeStyle Games to improve the rhythm title's performance in the UK: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTNwrUSjYF0"><em>Needs moar Dizzee Rascal</em></a>.<br />

Now, we don't want to tell Namco how to do its job, but these shipment numbers tend to be more impressive when you give the game a week or so in stores, so we can more readily infer a connection between <em>shipped</em> copies and <em>sold</em> copies.<br /> <br /> The portion of those 2.5 million earmarked for Europe, for example, just got there <em>today</em>, and it's only been in stores for around two days in North America. All we know based on this is that Namco <em>expects</em> to sell a ton of copies, not that it<em> is</em> selling a ton. Although we're sure it <em>will</em>. <br /> <br /> Maybe that's the idea -- to build excitement about <em>Tekken 6</em> by showing how confident the publisher is. To print up 2.5 million of the things (some of which come in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/22/tekken-6-wireless-sticks-revealed-priced/">totally huge boxes</a>), Namco must really believe it's on to something!<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-gamescom/">Tekken 6 (GamesCom 2009)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-gamescom/#2220009"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-08-19_14-16-43_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-gamescom/#2220010"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-08-19_14-17-17_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-gamescom/#2220011"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-08-19_14-17-21_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-gamescom/#2220012"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-08-19_14-17-40_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-gamescom/#2220013"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-08-19_14-17-42_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/31/namco-announces-2-5-million-shipped-copies-of-tekken-6/">Namco announces 2.5 million shipped copies of Tekken 6</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 31 Oct 2009 00:00:00 EST. We're not just using awkward British slang -- Namco Bandai is really <a href="http://lalabitmarket.channel.or.jp/NASApp/mnas/MxMProduct?Action=prd_list_shop&amp;DISPCATEGORY=0&amp;SHOP_ID=1&amp;LoginShopID=1&amp;PageNo=0&amp;Change=yes&amp;Where=shop&amp;search_string=New+Item&amp;DispType=3&amp;Class=-1&amp;G=&amp;C=">offering</a> a series of licensed <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6"><em>Tekken 6</em></a> underwear, perfect for the man whose underwear isn't threatening enough. The three designs, created in collaboration with an underwear shop called Luscious Tokyo, retail for <span>&yen;4,200 ($46) each.<br />
<br />
Other, somewhat more sensible <em>Tekken 6</em> merch includes a line of t-shirts (</span><span>&yen;3,150, or $34), Jin and Lass rings (</span><span>&yen;10,500, or </span><span>$115), and Devil Jin lighters (</span><span>&yen;13,650, or $149). It's no <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/23/sega-lighters-set-on-fire-what-nintendont/">Sega console lighter</a>, but it'll still light your Yankee Candles for <em>just</em> the right ambience for a King of Iron Fist tournament. </span><span><br />

If you're a fighting game enthusiast living in Southern California -- or a <em>really big </em>fighting game enthusiast living in Northern California -- you might want to check out the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6"><em>Tekken 6</em></a> launch party that's being hosted by a number of local fighting game community sites in Hawthorne, CA. Attendees who shell out for the $10 entry fee will <a href="http://shoryuken.com/?p=1629">have the chance to play the brawler</a> on comically large screens, win some swag (such as the drool-inducing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/19/take-a-timeout-to-ogle-horis-tekken-6-arcade-sticks/">wireless fightstick bundle</a>) and schmooze with some Namco Bandai developers. <br />
<br />
You can be sure that we'll be in attendance -- we're going with the hopes of being able to shake the hand of the person responsible for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/14/namco-drops-16-new-panda-kicking-tekken-6-screens/">the panda-booting screenshot above</a>. That thing has brought so much joy into our lives, and we'd like to personally thank its progenitor.<br />

Put simply, the following theorem appears to hold true: if there's a high-profile PS3 game on the way this year, there is <em>also</em> a PS3 bundle for it <em>somewhere</em> in the world. The latest potential candidate for a bundle: <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6"><em>Tekken 6</em></a>, as suggested by this image posted by Dutch site <a href="http://www.nextgamer.nl/nieuws/3934">Nextgamer</a>. It matches the look of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/05/need-for-speed-shift-250gb-ps3-box-art-spied/"><em>Need for Speed Shift</em> bundle box</a> posted by Engadget, except it includes a note about the hard drive size, which is omitted from the <em>Shift</em> box.<br />
<br />
Sony UK revealed a surprising lack of investment in its worldwide operations when it told <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=224963?cid=OTC-RSS&amp;attr=CVG-General-RSS">CVG</a> that <span class="text_article_body">"We're not doing that bundle but one of the territories might be." Even if it <em>is</em> real, you don't get an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/19/take-a-timeout-to-ogle-horis-tekken-6-arcade-sticks/">arcade stick</a> with <em>this</em> bundle, so it seems less than ideal.<br />

There's something about a (possibly evil) corporation and there's some other company, and one of them declares war on the world. <em>Somehow</em>, this results in a fighting tournament ... we <em>think</em>. There's also a bear-God-thing, a dragon, a mech and ... was that a panda? (At least we've been able to pinpoint the Scenario Mode, a 3D beat-em-up of sorts, spliced into the footage. At $150 -- including a copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6"><em>Tekken 6</em></a>, mind you -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/22/tekken-6-wireless-sticks-revealed-priced/">Hori's upcoming arcade sticks</a> for the fighter's sixth iteration look to be a pretty decent deal for those of you still interested in picking up a fighting stick. Coming straight out of Namco's conference at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gamescom-2009">GamesCom</a>, we were given an opportunity to check out the <em>Tekken 6</em> arcade stick. Lucky you, we've also snapped a few pics and added them to the gallery you see below. The PSP version of <em>Tekken 6</em> is going to have all the bells and whistles of its PS3 and Xbox 360 counterpart. At least, that's what Namco Bandai's public relations manager wants you to believe. Arne Cual-Pedroso told <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/08/07/namco-bandai-games-americas-coo-talks-about-tekken-6-and-westward-expansion/">Siliconera</a> that "pretty much everything in the console version will be in the PSP." And that includes downloadable content.<br /><br />Namco Bandai is notorious amongst console gamers for its ridiculous abuse of DLC: <em>Ace Combat</em>, for example, featured over <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3167642">$200 worth of DLC</a>. Another Namco PSP game, <em>Idolmaster</em>, features <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/03/10/namco-bandai-cashes-in-with-idolmster-sp-dlc/">over $100 worth</a> of DLC already. We're not sure exactly what Namco Bandai has in mind for <em>Tekken 6</em>, but handheld owners may feel the wrath of DLC very soon.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/08/tekken-6-psp-will-feature-downloadable-content/">Tekken 6 PSP will feature downloadable content</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 08 Aug 2009 11:30:00 EST. In addition to Penny Arcade's fabled <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/20/this-is-the-cardboard-tube-samurai-in-tekken-6/">Cardboard Tube Samurai</a> appearing in Namco's upcoming fighter, it looks like Gabe and Tycho have created <a href="http://www.tekken.com/comic/">a comic</a> for the game as well. The first page of the comic is available now and we can safely say that you don't have to know anything about the <em>Tekken</em> storyline to enjoy it.<br /><br />If you're like us -- always amazed that fighting games <em>have</em> story lines -- that's a good thing. All you need to know is that someone made an army of kangaroos and <strike>Jin Kazama</strike> Kazuya Mishima isn't happy about it. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Tekken-6/">Tekken 6</a></em> continues to expand its repertoire of manga-inspired special costumes. Masashi Kishimoto, creator of <em>Naruto</em>, is collaborating with Namco Bandai by creating an alternate outfit for Lars (seen above). This is the second costume from a famous mangaka for <em>Tekken 6</em>, the first being <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/06/30/check-out-clamps-tekken-6-costume-in-game/">CLAMP's design for Jin</a>.<br /><br />In addition to Kishimoto's outfit, <em>Tekken 6</em> will also feature an alternate costume for Zafina designed by Mutsumi Inomata, character designer of <em>Tales of Destiny</em> and <em>Tales of Graces</em> (after the break). While some were afraid these costumes would remain a strictly Japan-only affair, <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/07/31/these-tekken-6-costumes-were-made-by-manga-artists/">Siliconera</a> reports that all three of the special costumes revealed so far will be available in the US version as well when it launches on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/23/tekken-6-release-date-october-27-in-north-america/">October 27th</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/03/naruto-tales-artists-create-special-costumes-for-tekken-6/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Naruto, Tales artists create special costumes for Tekken 6</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/03/naruto-tales-artists-create-special-costumes-for-tekken-6/">Naruto, Tales artists create special costumes for Tekken 6</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Aug 2009 20:00:00 EST. That is to say: All forty characters in the game will be available from the first moment <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6"><em>Tekken 6</em></a> graces your disc drive. Speaking to <a href="http://www.videogamer.com/news/unlockables_are_outdated_says_tekken_chief.html">VideoGamer</a>, <em>Tekken</em> series director Katsuhiro Harada stated -- through a translator -- that unlockables in games are "outdated."<br /><br />Harada says that unlockables were originally implemented in order to extend the life of arcade games. As characters are unlocked, players would have more reason to come back to the machine. We definitely wasted a few quarters just for the chance to play as Kuma, so we'd say the plan worked. Harada said that unlockable characters were added to the home version for the same reason, implying that it would discourage gamers from renting the game instead of buying it.<br /><br />Fast-forward to <em>Tekken 6</em>, and Harada says that unlockables are "outdated now ... especially with online play." He notes that today's gamers would be irritated by competing online against characters that they have yet to unlock. Thus, you won't find any unlockable characters in <em>Tekken 6</em>.<br /><br />Of course, history tells us we still might see some characters <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/17/soulcalibur-iv-getting-vader-and-yoda-dlc/">for sale</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/02/no-unlockable-characters-in-tekken-6/">No unlockable characters in Tekken 6</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Jul 2009 17:15:00 EST. Alright, so your money's as good as in Namco's pockets already, what with the HORI <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/22/tekken-6-wireless-sticks-revealed-priced/"><em>Tekken 6</em> Wireless Fight Stick Bundle</a> and the GameStop-only <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/20/this-is-the-cardboard-tube-samurai-in-tekken-6/">Cardboard Tube Samurai character</a>. You've already made that decision. Glancing over your checking account statement every month, from now until the game's released, your brain will automatically deduct the $149.99 (+ applicable state sales tax).<br /><br />So the real question is: How long will you have to keep this mental math up for? Namco sends word that the Xbox 360 and PS3 releases of <em>Tekken 6</em> will be tekken up retail space October 27 in North America, "with the Europe, Japan and Asia release to follow shortly thereafter." As for that PSP version, it'll be available "this fall" but we can't offer you anything more definitive than that. <span class="bigger">127 days and counting ...</span><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-6-22-09/">Tekken 6 (6/22/09)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-6-22-09/#2099196"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/2009-06-22_14-32-30_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-6-22-09/#2099197"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/2009-06-22_14-32-23_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-6-22-09/#2099198"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/2009-06-22_14-32-07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-6-22-09/#2099199"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/2009-06-22_14-32-05-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-6-22-09/#2099200"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/2009-06-22_14-32-16-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/23/tekken-6-release-date-october-27-in-north-america/">Tekken 6 release date: October 27 in North America</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Jun 2009 10:00:00 EST. If you haven't spent all your money buying <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/07/mad-catz-reveals-street-fighter-iv-controllers-accessories/"><em>Street Fighter IV</em> controllers</a>, Namco Bandai has a new arcade stick for you to invest in. The official <em>Tekken 6</em> Wireless Fight Stick Bundle bundles the upcoming game with an art book and a wireless stick made by HORI. The set will be available at various nationwide retailers, and will cost $150 for either the PS3 or Xbox 360 version.<br /><br />In addition to revealing the official arcade stick for the game, Namco Bandai also released 33 new screenshots of the game, showcasing some of the new characters featured in <em>Tekken 6</em>. Our favorite character? Well, there's that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-6-22-09/2099222/full/">decapitated robot girl</a> ...<br /><br />Finally, official details of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/20/this-is-the-cardboard-tube-samurai-in-tekken-6/">Penny Arcade's collaboration</a> with <em>Tekken 6</em> have been revealed. Picked up by way of the <a href="http://www.gamertagradio.com/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?t=11007">Gamertag Radio forums</a> from the alleged <a href="http://www.twitter.com/tekkenbob">Twitter account of <em>Tekken 6</em></a> -- <em>we know, we know</em> -- it was confirmed this afternoon that the image you see above of Penny Arcade's <a href="http://pennyarcade.wikia.com/wiki/Cardboard_Tube_Samurai">Cardboard Tube Samura</a>i is, in fact, the real deal. Where, you ask? Well, of course, Mike "Gabe" Krahulik's Twitter account, where he twote, "Yes this is for real. Cts costume will be in <em>Tekken 6</em>!" <br /><br />He is, of course, referring to the Cardboard Tube Samurai and probably not the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/scribblenauts">cartoon time-traveling simulator</a> we already know will include everything in the universe. Take a look after the break for the exciting Twitter snapshot where Gabe <em>revealed the truth</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/20/this-is-the-cardboard-tube-samurai-in-tekken-6/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>This is the 'Cardboard Tube Samurai' in Tekken 6</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/20/this-is-the-cardboard-tube-samurai-in-tekken-6/">This is the 'Cardboard Tube Samurai' in Tekken 6</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 20 Jun 2009 17:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6/"><em>Tekken 6</em></a> continues to get more bizarre. Famed all-female mangaka group CLAMP (known for <em>Cardcaptor Sakura</em>, <em>X/1999</em>, <em><em>xxxHolic</em>, <em>Code Geass</em></em>) is designing new costume designs for Namco Bandai's upcoming fighter. Here, we see Jin wearing a wardrobe that would fit perfectly in CLAMP's <em>Tsubasa Chronicle</em>.<br /><br />Obviously, the addition of one of the most popular shoujo groups in Japan is meant to increase <em>Tekken</em>'s appeal beyond male gamers. In fact, the high-pitched ringing you may be hearing right now is the sound of thousands of anime fan girls squeeing in unison whilst holding onto Kero-chan plushies.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/17/clamp-designing-costumes-for-tekken-6-anime-fan-girls-squee/">CLAMP designing costumes for Tekken 6, anime fan girls squee</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Jun 2009 22:30:00 EST. E3 was <em>br&uuml;tal!</em> If you blinked, for a <span style="font-style: italic;">split/second,</span> you missed something. Even if you were <span style="font-style: italic;">trine</span> to keep up, it was a <span style="font-style: italic;">blur</span> -- staying <span style="font-style: italic;">a.wake</span> like that, you only pushed yourself to the <span style="font-style: italic;">brink</span> of your own <span style="font-style: italic;">dark void</span>. That's where Joystiq comes in; to <span style="font-style: italic;">crackdown</span> on the madness; to <span style="font-style: italic;">reach</span> out ... with <em>conviction</em> -- phew! <span style="font-style: italic;">Crysis</span> averted.<br />
<br />
We've scoured the <span style="font-style: italic;">dark corners</span> and survived the <span style="font-style: italic;">inferno</span> to piece together this roundup of all things Xbox at E3. Why? <span style="font-style: italic;">Just 'cause</span> we love you. So, draw <span style="font-style: italic;">nier</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">shift</span> your eyes past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/12/e3-2009-highlights-the-xbox-roundup/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>E3 2009 highlights: The Xbox roundup</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/12/e3-2009-highlights-the-xbox-roundup/">E3 2009 highlights: The Xbox roundup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 12 Jun 2009 11:45:00 EST. When we arrived at the Bandai Namco booth for our appointment today, we were immediately thrust into a back room and shown <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6"><em>Tekken 6</em></a>. We took it through the new Scenario mode, the series' evolution of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/31/tekken-6-brings-multiplayer-force-mode-motion-blur/"><em>Tekken Force Mode</em></a>, and tried our hand at some of the classic brawling. Basically, it's still <em>Tekken</em>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6/">Tekken 6</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6/#1493327"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/09-tekken6a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6/#1087251"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/tekken-6-renders-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6/#161397"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/02/tk6_aou_12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6/#1493328"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/13-tekken6a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6/#1087252"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/tekken-6-renders-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/03/hands-on-tekken-6-ps3-xbox-360/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hands-on: Tekken 6 (PS3, Xbox 360)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/03/hands-on-tekken-6-ps3-xbox-360/">Hands-on: Tekken 6 (PS3, Xbox 360)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 03 Jun 2009 17:15:00 EST. Those of you who aren't lucky enough to attend E3, this is <em>not the post for you. </em>For the remainder of you, however, we would like to let you know that Namco Bandai would like to test your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6"><em>Tekken 6</em></a> mettle at this year's <a href="http://e3.joystiq.com">Electronic Entertainment Expo</a> through an open tournament.<br /><br />The company will host a two-day "<em>Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion</em> arcade tournament" at its booth on Wednesday, June 3, and Thursday, June 4, with the company opening sign-ups on Tuesday, June 2, to anyone passing through Namco's area on the show floor. Namco Bandai mentions a "grand prize," though the details of what this undoubtedly spectacular prize will be were not given. We have a feeling the only thing people participating in this tournament will win is less time with the other great games at the show.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/namco-promotes-pummeling-through-its-tekken-6-tournament/">Namco promotes pummeling through its Tekken 6 tournament</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 01 Jun 2009 04:34:00 EST. Fight fans are likely salivating at the mouth for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tekken-6"><span style="font-style: italic;">Tekken 6</span></a> and all of its Kazama-infused glory, and will likely be <em>even more</em> excited by the inclusion of Force Mode in the franchise's sixth installment, a complimentary mode that harks back to the olden days of <span style="font-style: italic;">Tekken 3</span>. <br /><br />In <span style="font-style: italic;">Tekken 6</span>, you can even drop the fists for some more powerful means of dispatching countless enemies (see: big gatling gun). Not only that, but this new trailer also shows off the incredible leaps and bounds Namco has made in <em>motion blur </em>technology. Hey, <em>Tekken 6</em>, 2006 called, and it wants its <em>cutting edge technology </em>back.<br /><br />Head past the break to check out the fist-to-face action that comes courtesy of <a href="http://ps3.ign.com/dor/objects/748466/tekken-next/videos/tekken6_trl_e3trailer_52809.html;jsessionid=18l8m9wig4qv0">IGN</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/31/tekken-6-brings-multiplayer-force-mode-motion-blur/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Tekken 6 brings multiplayer Force Mode, motion blur</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/31/tekken-6-brings-multiplayer-force-mode-motion-blur/">Tekken 6 brings multiplayer Force Mode, motion blur</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 31 May 2009 23:59:00 EST. On a real, honest-to-goodness PS3. (We checked to make sure the cables weren't running to a hidden arcade cabinet.)<br /><br />This was our first experience with the game, not having access to an arcade willing to shell out beaucoup bucks for a machine. But we'd played enough <em>Tekken </em>in the past (most recently, <em>Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection</em> on PS3) to be able to get a feel for this new installment. So, what makes it worthy of being one more than five? find out after the break!<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-04-29-09/">Tekken 6 (04-29-09)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-04-29-09/#1526600"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/tekken-6-screen-(6)-4292009-28_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-04-29-09/#1526599"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/tekken-6-screen-(2)-4292009-19_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-04-29-09/#1526598"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/tekken-6-screen-(27)-4292009-36_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-04-29-09/#1526597"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/tekken-6-screen-(25)-4292009-22_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tekken-6-04-29-09/#1526596"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/tekken-6-screen-(15)-4292009-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/29/joystiq-hands-on-tekken-6-ps3-360/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq hands-on: Tekken 6 (PS3/360)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/29/joystiq-hands-on-tekken-6-ps3-360/">Joystiq hands-on: Tekken 6 (PS3/360)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 29 Apr 2009 20:00:00 EST.
