<div style="text-align: left;">Ever wanted to create your own spacecraft and sail the ocean of stars? Well, you can do that with Nude Maker and Platinum Games' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/infinite-line"><span style="font-style: italic;">Infinite Space</span></a> for DS -- sorta. We caught up with Hifumi Kouno, both president of Nude Maker and director of<em> Infinite Space</em>, to find out more about the spaceship-building title that's due out next year.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/infinite-space/">Infinite Space</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/infinite-space/#1122822"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/infinite_log_0911_009_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/infinite-space/#1122821"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/infinite_module_0911_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/infinite-space/#1122820"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/image0045_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/infinite-space/#1122819"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/infinite_shipdesign_0911_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/infinite-space/#1122818"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/infinite_shipdesign_0911_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br /></div>

The new Meme expansion pack for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-online"><span style="font-style: italic;">Metal Gear Online</span></a> was announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/01/mgos-second-expansion-coming-playable-at-tgs/">not too long ago</a>. Along with it comes the addition of new maps and two playable fan favorites: Liquid Ocelot and Mei Ling. Both of whom stand tall in this new Meme expansion trailer from the Tokyo Game Show.<br /><br />The TGS 08 trailer also shows off the new maps revealed before: Silo Sunset, Forest Firefight and Winter Warehouse. Also, we get to see some all new customizable parts for your characters. Want an Ocelot stache? Maybe you want to wear that flower Sunny always wears? If those options don't float your boat, you could always put on a blond fro or croc helm.<br /><br />Thanks to the game's M rating we've placed the trailer after the break. So make sure you're of age before taking a peek. We'll be watching!<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/16/tgs-08-mgo-meme-expansion-trailer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TGS 08: MGO Meme expansion trailer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/16/tgs-08-mgo-meme-expansion-trailer/">TGS 08: MGO Meme expansion trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Oct 2008 20:30:00 EST. "Nothing but a player?s decision and a tactics of using various weapons are important than anything that you really need to think to play." This line, taken from the official <em>Demon's Souls</em> site blurb, should make you feel as scared and confused as I felt when I got my hands on the game. My first thought, "ouch," remains scrawled at the top of my notes and, sadly, it's all downhill from there.<br /><br />

This one's especially for the <em>Phoenix Wright</em> fans. Those lucky enough to survive the enormous crowd surrounding <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/12/tgs-08-edgeworth-returns-in-gyakuten-kenji-trailer/"><em>Gyakuten Kenji</em></a>'s (<em>Turnabout Prosecutor</em>) playable Tokyo Game Show demo were invited into a detailed replica of Miles Edgeworth's office, complete with classy furnishings and a faint air of egomania. We imagine playing Capcom's latest point-and-prosecute in this environment must have been quite surreal for attendees.<br /><br />Though Edgy himself wasn't available to complete the illusion, we did discover his excellent figurine at the Capcom store -- it's included in the gallery as well.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gyakuten-kenji-edgeworths-office/">Gyakuten Kenji: Edgeworth's Office</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gyakuten-kenji-edgeworths-office/#1099827"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/gyakuten-kenji-tgs08-07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gyakuten-kenji-edgeworths-office/#1099828"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/gyakuten-kenji-tgs08-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gyakuten-kenji-edgeworths-office/#1099829"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/gyakuten-kenji-tgs08-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gyakuten-kenji-edgeworths-office/#1099830"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/gyakuten-kenji-tgs08-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gyakuten-kenji-edgeworths-office/#1099831"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/gyakuten-kenji-tgs08-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Special thanks to Ariel A. for the office snaps.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/15/tgs-08-inside-edgeworths-office/">TGS 08: Inside Edgeworth's office</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Oct 2008 16:45:00 EST. <div align="left">When we say that <em>Gomibako</em> -- a new PSN title -- is<em> trashy</em>, we're not aiming to dis the game. You see, we're not referring to the game's quality, we're simply referring to what the game's all about. The given name "Gomibako" literally means "trash box," or "trash can" if you prefer. It's all about festering piles of garbage and how to get rid of them properly (and by "properly," we really mean "in outrageous and silly ways").<br /></div>
<div align="left"> <br />In going about our Earth-friendly activities, <em>Gomibako</em> asks players to fill up a giant blue bin with as much trash as possible. The game plays a lot like <em>Tetris</em>, and so, it's important to properly place each falling piece of garbage in order to conserve space for more items to come. But since we're talking about irregularly-shaped articles of trash, conserving space proves to be a little more difficult than it sounds.<br /></div>

When we first heard of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dynasty-warriors-multi-raid/"><em>Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce</em></a> (back then it was known by its Asian version name <em>Multi Raid</em>) we didn't think it would be coming over to Western shores. So, it was a nice surprise to see a little press release letting us know that the PSP exclusive will in fact be making a North American and European debut in 2009. Armed with that knowledge, we decided it might be worthwhile checking out the game on the show floor.<br /><br />We picked up the playable demo. There were three characters available for play: Xiahou Dun, Zhao Yun and Sun Shang Xiang; they were all dressed up in their <em>Dynasty Warriors 6</em> outfits. We chose to play as Zhao Yun and then picked out a map. The load time was fairly tolerable not taking more than a few seconds. Once the stage loaded up, we noticed that the graphics were not that much different from previous <em>DW </em>games on PSP; the character models look actually slightly blockier though.<br /><br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/15/tgs-08-hands-on-dynasty-warriors-strikeforce/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TGS 08 hands-on: Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/15/tgs-08-hands-on-dynasty-warriors-strikeforce/">TGS 08 hands-on: Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Oct 2008 09:00:00 EST. <div align="left">Our statistics show that you, dear reader, are most likely to be of American origin. As a result, you probably don't have access to the Japanese <em>Home</em> beta. It's a shame, because it's the closest you were probably going to get to attending the Tokyo Game Show this year. The Japanese <em>Home</em> "Events and Media" space was updated, allowing those who were unable to reach the show to walk around in a to-scale mock-up of Sony's booth. <br /><br />But just how close does the in-game model come to the real thing? Scarily close. We've attempted to recreate the screenshots by photographing the booth from the correct angles. In each image, the top half shows the <em>Home</em> version and the bottom reveals real life. Thankfully, the real booth was nowhere near as empty as it is in <em>Home. </em>Perhaps a release of the open beta, timed to coincide with TGS, would've allowed even more people to check out their upcoming wares. Opportunity missed.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonys-tgs08-booth-home-vs-reality/">Sony's TGS08 booth: Home vs reality</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonys-tgs08-booth-home-vs-reality/#1098161"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/tgsvshomev2-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonys-tgs08-booth-home-vs-reality/#1098162"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/tgsvshomev2-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonys-tgs08-booth-home-vs-reality/#1098163"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/tgsvshomev2-8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonys-tgs08-booth-home-vs-reality/#1098166"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/tgsvshomev2-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonys-tgs08-booth-home-vs-reality/#1098167"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/tgsvshomev2-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /></div>

<em>Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 3</em> (<em>Disaster Report PSP</em>) is a PSP exclusive for Japan that was shown off at TGS this past week. Despite it being only shown in video format, Irem booth goers who wanted to check it out did end up with quite a treat and a smile on their faces. Irem's booth featured an earthquake simulator (pictured) which shook gamers as a video demonstration showed them how the game works. It looked like a rather interesting experience, though we didn't get time to sit down and ride the monster. <br /><br />While you can't experience the thrill of that machine to help get you better acquainted with <em>Disaster Report PSP</em>, you can do the alternative. You can check out our gallery for 16 all-new pics from the game and perhaps, if you want to, just shake in your seat.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/14/tgs-08-have-a-look-at-irems-disaster-report-psp/">TGS 08: Have a look at Irem's Disaster Report PSP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 Oct 2008 17:30:00 EST. If you've ever drummed your fingers on a table, whether in a physical display of impatience (where <span style="font-style: italic;">is</span> that waiter?) or an attempt to capture an elusive beat, you'll probably be able to understand where <span style="font-style: italic;">Let's Tap</span> is coming from. Specifically, it's coming from Sonic creator Yuji Naka's post-Sega studio, Prope, and hopes to win gamers (and their moms) over through sheer simplicity. Let's Face It: games don't get much simpler than tapping on a cardboard box.<br /><br />Evaluated as a typical Wii game, <span style="font-style: italic;">Let's Tap</span> does little to distance itself from the cavalcade of effervescent minigames swarming the system. But as an experiment in using the Wiimote differently -- that is, to not use it at all -- it certainly warrants further attention. As it requires the Wii controller to be placed on a flat surface, face down and buttons obscured, <span style="font-style: italic;">Let's Tap</span> is a game we can see ourselves introducing to those wracked by a morbid fear of buttons and flailing.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lets-tap/">Let's Tap</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lets-tap/#1070822"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/let5_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lets-tap/#1070821"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/let4_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lets-tap/#1070820"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/let3_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lets-tap/#1070819"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/let2_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/lets-tap/#1070818"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/let1_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/14/tgs-08-lets-write-an-article-about-lets-tap/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TGS 08: Let's write an article about Let's Tap</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/14/tgs-08-lets-write-an-article-about-lets-tap/">TGS 08: Let's write an article about Let's Tap</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 Oct 2008 14:45:00 EST. No one does it like Japan. No one takes cosplay more seriously than them. To the Japanese it's an art form or even a form of sport, if you will. Cosplay takes massive dedication - there's getting into shape to look the part, and then talk about those hours upon hours applying wax in one's hair to get that exact patented look down right to the point of copyright infringement.<br /><br />It's all about going the extra mile, and Japan has perfected the Zen-like disciplined lifestyle of the cosplayer. Of course, we're not knocking down other countries and their costume mimicry attempts; <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/28/gamer-cosplay-takes-over-ny-anime-festival/">Americans</a> are getting there, we're sure you can agree, but it still pales in comparison. This is still very much Japan's homecourt. See for yourselves ... our gallery awaits.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tgs-08-cosplay-gallery/">TGS 08: Cosplay Gallery</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tgs-08-cosplay-gallery/#1092655"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0195_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tgs-08-cosplay-gallery/#1092654"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0197_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tgs-08-cosplay-gallery/#1092653"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0180_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tgs-08-cosplay-gallery/#1092652"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0201_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tgs-08-cosplay-gallery/#1092651"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/dsc_0200_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/13/tgs-08-japans-cosplay/">TGS 08: Japan's cosplay</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 Oct 2008 13:30:00 EST. <br /><em>Spelunker</em> is a remake of the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spelunker_(video_game)">NES classic</a> from Irem. Does it look familiar to you? Do you remember the game from way back in the day, 20 years ago? If you do, it's probably because the aesthetics haven't changed much. Though boasting updated, modern graphics, the game's visuals retain a retro-stylized feel. The 2D characters are still there. The lifts and ladders are still in the places they would've been. Overall, it looks like an interesting title for those old-school gamers looking for a blast from the past. <br /><br />Of course, the question is: How does it play? First off, the controls are simple enough. It's a 2D game with a focus on platform jumping, with other actions including: riding down elevators; leaping over pits; climbing ladders; and dodging fire, steam, and toxic liquids. You can collect items such as bombs to demolish obstacles in your way, or keys in order to progress through locked sections of a stage. It all sounds very simple, familiar and arcadey -- in other words, a perfect fit for a PSN game. Right?<br /><br />

Remember all of those unannounced TGS games? That's a rhetorical question. We know full well that you remember them, because many of you won't stop harping on about them in our comments section. Let's get one thing clear, in releasing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/30/11-unannounced-ps3-titles-being-shown-at-tgs/">that press release</a> Sony was revealing a portion of its TGS show floor offerings. The rest were left as a surprise. They were "unannounced."<br /><br />Many of these games were titles that we'd seen before, such as <em>Killzone 2, Nobi Nobi Boy</em> and <em>White Knight Chronicles</em>, however there were some games that were revealed for the first time during the show. Titles such as <em>Demon's Souls</em> (which was actually technically announced just prior to the show, via Famitsu) and <em>Quantum Theory</em>. Sony's lineup was strong but, sadly, there were no megaton game announcements. So now you know the mystery of the "unannounced" games, can we get back to looking forward to all the awesome games we <em>do</em> know about?<br /><br />Check after the break for the list of "unannounced" TGS games.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/12/the-mystery-of-sonys-unannounced-tgs-games/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The mystery of Sony's 'unannounced' TGS games</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/12/the-mystery-of-sonys-unannounced-tgs-games/">The mystery of Sony's 'unannounced' TGS games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 12 Oct 2008 16:00:00 EST. Right?<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/spelunker/">Spelunker</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/spelunker/#1092718"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/agag_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/spelunker/#1092717"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/sl_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/spelunker/#1092716"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/5ywesg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/12/tgs-08-hands-on-spelunker-psn/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TGS 08 hands-on: Spelunker (PSN)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/12/tgs-08-hands-on-spelunker-psn/">TGS 08 hands-on: Spelunker (PSN)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 12 Oct 2008 15:30:00 EST. We're honestly starting to feel like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-5"><em>Resident Evil 5</em></a> is this year's <em>Metal Gear Solid 4</em>. The game constantly generated enormous lines at the Tokyo Game Show, not only due to its playable demo but its multiple, action-packed trailers. Though not devoid of exciting gameplay footage, the content was clearly centered on the game's plot and remarkably high production values. <br /><br />If you're not afraid of M-rated mutilation and potentially gigantic spoilers, be sure to check out the special TGS trailers we've placed after the break. Especially the second one.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/12/tgs-08-watch-these-resident-evil-5-trailers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TGS 08: Watch these Resident Evil 5 trailers </em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/12/tgs-08-watch-these-resident-evil-5-trailers/">TGS 08: Watch these Resident Evil 5 trailers </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 12 Oct 2008 15:00:00 EST. Ah, the Square Enix Mega Theater. It's always something to look forward to at every TGS. We took the time to check out the theater and see what's cooking behind those big, black walls. Square Enix showed off trailers for nine games and a film in the Mega Theater, including two PS3 titles, the <em>Advent Children Complete</em> movie, and four PSP titles. Ah, the Square Enix Mega Theater. It's always something to look forward to at every TGS. We took the time to check out the theater and see what's cooking behind those big, black walls. At a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/11/confirmed-girls-and-booze-at-tecmo-tgs-party/">very, <em>very</em> informal Tecmo</a> event, held during the Tokyo Game Show on Saturday evening, attendees were introduced to the new faces of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/24/itagaki-practices-legal-ninjitsu-in-case-against-tecmo/">post-Itagaki</a> Team Ninja. Though we'd heard before that Hitoshi Hasegawa had taken over as the head of the <em>Ninja Gaiden</em> and <em>Dead or Alive</em> development team, it was our first opportunity to meet the team's new representation. Joining him is Yosuke "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/14/team-ninja-designer-tells-complaining-ps3-devs-to-get-out/">Itsygaki</a>" Hayashi, director of<em> Ninja Gaiden Sigma</em> and producer of <em>Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword</em>. Neither of them wear sunglasses indoors.<br /><br />Tecmo refrained from commenting on the team's upcoming slate of games, candidly stating that it was working on "a shitload of projects." Which either implies a large quantity of games, or a very oddly named RPG.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/11/tecmo-introduces-the-new-faces-of-team-ninja/">Tecmo introduces the new faces of Team Ninja</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 11 Oct 2008 23:00:00 EST. If there was any doubt as to whether the <em>Resident Evil</em> series had abandoned its traditional survival-horror mechanics in favor of a more action-packed horror experience, the appearance of "shooter" controls in the franchise's fifth installment should completely eradicate it. You know, if the fact that the not-zombies <em>drop ammo</em> wasn't enough to convince you.<br /><br />As hinted at in an earlier <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/03/resident-evil-5-control-overhauled-to-be-more-gears-like/">producer interview</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-5"><em>Resident Evil 5</em></a> does indeed have an optional control scheme that is more in line with the third-person shooter genre. The left analogue stick now allows you to strafe to the left and right, with aiming (enabled via the left trigger) and turning assigned to the right analogue stick. The controls are a step away from <em>Resident Evil 4</em>'s tank controls and feel considerably more familiar and intuitive.<br /><br />We're relieved -- and you may be inclined to disagree -- that Chris Redfield and his spirited partner are still unable to move and shoot at the same time. By not entirely giving in to the demands of shooter fans and placing one significant limit on your offensive capabilities, Capcom has preserved the sense of anxiety felt when a monster approaches. Shoot or run? Make the choice!<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5-10-03-2008/">Resident Evil 5 (10-03-2008)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5-10-03-2008/#1091255"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/resident-evil-5-shooter-controls-large_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5-10-03-2008/#1076393"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/shot0249-00000_bmp_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5-10-03-2008/#1076392"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/shot0240-00000_bmp_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5-10-03-2008/#1076391"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/shot0238-00000_bmp_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/resident-evil-5-10-03-2008/#1076390"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/shot0237-00000_bmp_jpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/tgs-08-shooter-control-scheme-lessens-strife-adds-strafe/">TGS 08: RE5's 'Shooter' control scheme lessens strife, adds strafe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Oct 2008 23:28:00 EST. The<em> Kingdom Heart</em>s series was first born on the PlayStation 2; however, it has gone and spread its wings into other realms since then and now it carries a new bundle of joy in the form of portable PSP title <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/birth-by-sleep"><em>Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep</em></a>. While the title radically takes the story aspect of the game farther away from the original setting with Sora and friends, this new game will focus on the three (slightly) new faces pictured above (from left: Aqua, Ventus and Tera).<br /><br /><em>Birth by Sleep</em> was indeed playable on the show floor at TGS and we sunk in some time with the title. The playable build that was available let us try out both Ventus and Tera in battle. We decided to just go with trying out Tera's abilities and then go straight into the action. Tera's level starts off in a forest area which gets you into a fight right away. <em>Kingdom Hearts</em> vets will notice that the controls are incredibly familiar; they're nearly identical to the original console games from the past, though with slight differences due to the change in input interface (ie, shoulder buttons once again control the camera since there are no dual analog nubs).<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/psp-fanboy-hands-on-kingdom-hearts-birth-by-sleep/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PSP Fanboy hands-on: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/psp-fanboy-hands-on-kingdom-hearts-birth-by-sleep/">PSP Fanboy hands-on: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Oct 2008 12:00:00 EST. This year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-versus-xiii"><em>Final Fantasy Versus XIII</em></a> trailer out of Square Enix's Closed Theater follows in the footsteps of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/20/tgs07-final-fantasy-versus-xiii-trailer-impressions/">last year's trailer</a> in the respect that it's yet again the final video shown during the private screening. The two differ, however, as this year's trailer shows off a bit of in-game footage of <em>Versus XIII</em> for the first time.<br /><br />The trailer kicks things off with the same line of text we've seen dozens of times before: "This is a fantasy based on reality." The scene moves to the prince's luxury sedan speeding through a tunnel. He's listening to the news on the car radio. The vehicle exits the tunnel and the camera pans up to see the moonlit sky with two giant airships hovering in the distance. Somewhere in between this, we get a reintroduction to the Shakespearean quote that's been used since the debut trailer. At this point, things shift and the new stuff come in.<br /><br />We see the prince character wearing a casual, all black suit. This is rendered with the in-game engine, and the graphics look as smooth and appealing as the main <em>FFXIII</em> title. He climbs marble stairs up to a loft-like art gallery. There he meets the blonde woman revealed previously wearing a black dress and a small white top. This time she's seen in a white cocktail dress. the two are talking but through Japanese subtitles as there doesn't appear to be any voice work done yet - or, Square Enix purposely took it out for some reason.<br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/tgs-08-final-fantasy-versus-xiii-trailer-impressions/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TGS 08: Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer impressions</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/tgs-08-final-fantasy-versus-xiii-trailer-impressions/">TGS 08: Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer impressions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Oct 2008 01:30:00 EST. In what is essentially a game of spot-the-difference, you'll view the environment in a first-person perspective on both DS screens (in book orientation). The touch screen allows you to interact with the scene, while the screen to your left displays the same area, but as it was in the past. As Yamaguchi noted, it makes sense to confine history to the non-interactive screen. You can't change the past, you can only learn from it.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/again-eye-of-providence-ds/">Again: Eye of Providence (DS)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/again-eye-of-providence-ds/#1088908"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/again_logo_english_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/again-eye-of-providence-ds/#1088904"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/retrospect_e_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/again-eye-of-providence-ds/#1088903"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/pastvision_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/again-eye-of-providence-ds/#1088902"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/map_e_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/again-eye-of-providence-ds/#1088901"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/investigation_e_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/tgs-08-hotel-dusk-devs-reveal-again-for-the-first-time/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TGS 08: Hotel Dusk devs reveal 'Again' for the first time</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/tgs-08-hotel-dusk-devs-reveal-again-for-the-first-time/">TGS 08: Hotel Dusk devs reveal 'Again' for the first time</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Oct 2008 00:58:00 EST. Another TGS means another Closed Mega Theater from Square Enix. So what does the house that <em>Final Fantasy</em> built have hiding behind the curtain this time? It's mostly a long line of <em>Kingdom Hearts</em> titles and the entire known components of the <em>Fabula Nova Crystallis</em> project - which of course includes the highly anticipated <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-xiii"><em>Final Fantasy XIII</em></a>. <br /><br />Considering that <em>FFXIII </em>is the flagship title for the company, it would be an understatement to say we're a tad excited to see anything new coming from this game at the show ... even if it is the usual scrap here and there. Speaking of scraps, yes, most of the "new" trailer contains footage from previous clips we've seen before (no surprise there); however, the new footage we did see - we believe - will certainly keep the <em>FF</em> faithful interested until the next small bits trickle in. <br /><br />We'll start with the beginning: we have an overhead view of this lush, prehistoric land where giant stegosaurus-type creatures roam. Then those flying beasts seen at the beginning of this year's E3 trailer soar above them, moving us along to the zoomed-in scene where the redhead pigtails girl is standing at the edge of a cliff. The camera swings back around revealing a massive, untamed landscape with thick jungles and more wild animals.<br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/tgs-08-final-fantasy-xiii-trailer-impressions/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TGS 08: Final Fantasy XIII trailer impressions</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/tgs-08-final-fantasy-xiii-trailer-impressions/">TGS 08: Final Fantasy XIII trailer impressions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Oct 2008 00:00:00 EST. As much as we hate how Sonic's roots have been clawed out by some furry, fanged and stretchy-limbed abomination, we must grudgingly admit that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sonic-unleashed">Werehog</a> is -- at least on the Tokyo Game Show floor -- almost bordering on <em>sort of </em>cool. As is the case with most obnoxious, product-peddling mascots, we ultimately have to go with the one we'd prefer to hug. And just look at that guy's huge arms!<br />
<br />

Another next-gen (<a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/tag/castlevania-judgment/">don't forget this one!</a>) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/castlevania"><em>Castlevania</em></a> title has been announced for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Koji "IGA" Igarashi, producer of every single <em>Castlevania</em> title since 2002, showed a brief 10-second teaser involving a blonde dude and a glowing red sword. The game's story involves a "cursed fate" that's placed upon a kin ... in other words, a typical <em>Castlevania</em> plot. No other information, such as gameplay details or a release window, was provided, but since IGA himself was surprised at a public announcement at this stage, it is suggested the game is still in very early development.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/tgs-08-konami-whips-out-castlevania-for-ps3-xbox-360/">Joystiq</a> &amp; <a href="http://ps3.ign.com/articles/917/917967p1.html">IGN</a>; image credit: <a href="http://plusd.itmedia.co.jp/games/articles/0810/09/news076.html">ITmedia</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/tgs-08-new-castlevania-title-announced/">TGS 08: New Castlevania title announced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Oct 2008 16:00:00 EST. This did not prove to be the case with Tecmo's Makoto Shibata, however, who calmly assured us that Tecmo's upcoming third-person shooter, the cryptically named <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/tecmos-quantum-theory-explained-in-famitsu/"><em>Quantum Theory</em></a>, is indeed exclusive to the PlayStation 3.<br /><br />The Team Tachyon director, who candidly described the game as Japan's answer to titles like <em>Gears of War</em>, is sticking to the predominantly Western genre's "basics," while making sure that his country's "skills and talent are incorporated." You'll note that the game's art employs a more expanded color palette, though not at the expense of unfeasibly enormous biceps. The traditional, post-apocalyptic environment is augmented here by a striking "living tower," a labyrinthine structure that the game's protagonist and his occasional female foil must traverse and ultimately defeat. <br /><br />Taking a page corner from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fracture"><em>Fracture</em></a>, Shibata noted that the "shape-shifting" environments within the tower would constantly change in real time, either providing new cover or creating unexpected dangers. With the game not being due until late 2009, however, we were unable to see this feature in practice. But at least that leaves plenty of time to tweak the game's name. In response to our suggestion to incorporate the word "tower" to better highlight the game's oblong villain, Shibata joked that it would ultimately be inappropriate for the tower-less sequel.<br /><br />... He <em>was</em> joking, right?<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-theory-ps3/">Quantum Theory</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-theory-ps3/#1087835"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/quantum_theory09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-theory-ps3/#1087836"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/quantum_theory03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-theory-ps3/#1087837"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/quantum_theory04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-theory-ps3/#1087838"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/quantum_theory05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/quantum-theory-ps3/#2338056"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/10/2009-09-21_08-14-00_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/tgs-08-quantum-theory-confirmed-as-ps3-exclusive/">TGS 08: Quantum Theory confirmed as PS3 exclusive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Oct 2008 14:30:00 EST. On top of the list of common misconceptions here at our fine site is that there is never any good news concerning <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/home"><em>Home</em></a>. We kid, we kid. We do <em>actually</em> have some good news though -- during Sony's Japanese press conference, it was announced that <em>Home</em>'s open beta is on track for release in Japan later in the month. The open beta will end in November, at which time we take for granted, in the absence of proof to the contrary, that the final product will be released.<br /><br />Additionally, it was announced that 24 additional publishers have just signed on to create content for <em>Home</em>. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/bloggers/jem-alexander">Jem</a> noted that Square Enix is conspicuously absent, but the inclusion of some of the big boys like Disney and Activision does provide a bit of relief. No word on whether this carries over to the North American or European versions. List of the publishers after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/tgs-08-japanese-home-beta-not-delayed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TGS 08: Japanese Home beta not delayed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/tgs-08-japanese-home-beta-not-delayed/">TGS 08: Japanese Home beta not delayed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Oct 2008 12:15:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dissidia"><em>Dissidia: Final Fantasy</em></a> has been a title we've been keeping an eye on a lot lately, and hence, it's one of the first games we decided to see out on the Tokyo Game Show floor. We moseyed on over to Sony's booth to get in a quick session before going at it again and taking in another short round over at Square Enix proper. Five characters were available to play: Firionel, Tidus, Squall, Warrior of Light, and Zidane. We decided to try out different characters for each play session and tested out the skills of Squall and Tidus.<br /><br />The overall battle system is rather easy to pick up; attacking with the square button deals the amount of damage currently in your "Brave" gauge while attacking with the circle button drains your enemy's Brave, replenishing your own and then eventually putting enemies into a "Break" state as you can see here in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/06/two-new-dissidia-vids-teach-us-how-to-fight/">these videos</a>. Now while the general concept of the game's battle system is easy to grasp, mastering the play style of the individual characters is another story. After having played as both Squall and Tidus for a solid amount of time, we noticed that neither character played like the other. Even though their special moves use the same button inputs, they move and attack completely different.<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/psp-fanboy-hands-on-dissidia-final-fantasy/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PSP Fanboy hands-on: Dissidia: Final Fantasy</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/psp-fanboy-hands-on-dissidia-final-fantasy/">PSP Fanboy hands-on: Dissidia: Final Fantasy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Oct 2008 11:15:00 EST. After having watched a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dissidia"><em>Dissidia: Final Fantasy</em></a> trailer in Square Enix's Closed Mega Theater, the final two characters (heroes for <em>Final Fantasies VI</em> and <em>VII</em>) are confirmed to be Terra and Cloud. Gameplay footage was seen for both characters dueling against their respective arch nemesis. Cloud retains his classic look, while Terra dons a more child-like face and better resembles her original Amano design (blonde hair).<br /><br />With Bartz and Ex-Death confirmed recently, that makes the entire 20 heroes and villains roster complete. Check back with us later, we'll have some more on <em>Dissidia</em> including full hands-on here at PSP Fanboy and full Square Enix Closed Theater impressions over on Joystiq. So keep an eye on both.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/tgs-08-terra-and-cloud-confirmed-for-dissidia-roster-now-compl/">TGS 08: Terra and Cloud confirmed for Dissidia, roster now complete</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Oct 2008 09:20:00 EST. <div align="left">Valve has done pretty well for itself with its digital distribution service Steam and it seems other companies want in on the easy money to be had. Take software developers Level-5 (<em>Rogue Galaxy</em>, <em>Professor Layton</em>) for example who'll be pumping out their own digital downloads with a little something called ROID. Level-5's ROID service targets both PC and Mobile gaming and will launch for Japan in April 2009. <br /><br />What's most interesting about this service is that Level-5 currently doesn't have any PC-developed or Mobile-developed games in their portfolio. Does this mean they'll be porting some of their older games like <em>Dark Cloud</em> to the PC? Or, are they going to make all new IP in support of the service? While the answer to those questions won't pop up just yet, we do have a little bit more on ROID you can check out. You can distract yourself with photos of the ROID mascot (which is apparently a console transformer) in our gallery below. What's the game that's got Japanese gamers all in a frenzy? It's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/monster-hunter"><em>Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G</em></a> -- the title that's sold over two million copies on the PSP this year in Japan. Fortunately the Japanese are not being selfish and won't be keeping the multiplayer action title to themselves -- it's coming stateside in Spring 2009 and will be renamed <em>Monster Hunter Freedom Unite</em>.<br /><br />While <em>Freedom Unite</em> isn't physically at the show, Capcom has another <em>Monster Hunter</em> title at TGS. That would be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/monster-hunter-3"><em>Monster Hunter 3</em></a> (Tri) for the Wii and it has been drawing huge crowds leaving people with hour long waits ... and it's only the first day. An "industry only" day. Just wait until the public comes in on the weekend. We wonder if the success that was founded in Japan will follow across the Pacific? <em>Monster Hunter Freedom</em> games haven't exactly been picked up by Western gamers in the past.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/tgs-08-capcom-announces-us-bound-monster-hunter-freedom-unite/">TGS 08: Capcom announces US-bound Monster Hunter Freedom Unite</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Oct 2008 01:30:00 EST. After <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/tgs-08-superintendent-fully-revealed-halo-3-recon-lands-fall-2/">finally being confirmed</a> as a standalone expansion for Master Chief's <em>final</em> ride, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Halo-3-Recon/">Halo 3 Recon</a></em> is the talk of the town walking out of Microsoft's TGS 2008 press conference. Taking on the role as an elite Orbital Drop Shock Trooper for the UNSC, <em>Halo 3 Recon</em> follows a brand new hero in an all new storyline. Taking place between the story of <em>Halo 2</em> and <em>Halo 3</em> as Master Chief is away on butt-kicking business, players are in store for what Microsoft is calling "a top-secret mission with a gripping story."<br /> <br />Featuring exclusive multiplayer maps, Forge items and four player co-op as well as saved films, screenshot capability and campaign scoring; <em>Halo 3 Recon</em> is sure to light up Xbox 360's when it releases in Fall 2009.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/tgs-08-halo-3-recon-trailer/">TGS 08: Halo 3 Recon trailer is dark and stealthy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Oct 2008 00:57:00 EST. Microsoft has just confirmed the speculation that the teaser trailer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/25/bungie-teases-possible-halo-3-expansion/">released by Bungie a few weeks ago</a> is in fact a storyline expansion to<em> Halo 3</em>. Taking place prior to the events of the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Halo-3/">Halo 3</a></em> story, <em>Halo 3 Recon</em> (its official title) will put gamers in the shoes of a UNSC marine trooper -- specifically an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper -- and marks the first time since players took on the role as the Arbiter to play through the <em>Halo</em> universe as a character other than the Master Chief.<br /><br /><em>Halo 3 Recon,</em> the standalone expansion featuring a new hero and new campaign, hits the Xbox 360 exclusively in Fall 2009.<br /><br />[<strong>Update:</strong> According to an <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/news/2008/1008-reconpreview.htm">Xbox.com News Flash</a>, <em>Halo 3 Recon</em> will take place during the events leading to the return of Master Chief to New Mombasa in <em>Halo 3</em>. The game will feature a brand new campaign, four player co-op gameplay and new multiplayer content. <em>Halo 3 Recon</em> will include exclusive new multiplayer maps and Forge options as well as maintain what gamers loved from <em>Halo 3</em> including Saved Films, screenshots and campaign scoring.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/tgs-08-superintendent-fully-revealed-halo-3-recon-lands-fall-2/">TGS 08: Halo 3 Recon lands Fall 2009 [Update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Oct 2008 23:59:00 EST. Microsoft has just announced that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/new-xbox-experience">New Xbox Experience</a> will release worldwide on November 19. Originally announced during E3 2008, the New Xbox Experience rethinks the way the Xbox 360 dashboard works in nearly every conceivable way. Adding features such as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Avatars/">Avatars</a>, the ability to install games to a hard drive and better organization for content, the NXE has been at the forefront of nearly every Microsoft event since it was first revealed. The worldwide release will hit in 26 countries and will be localized in 11 different languages. We anticipate November 19 will be a busy day to sign into Xbox Live.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/tgs-08-new-xbox-experience-releases-november-19/">TGS 08: New Xbox Experience hits November 19 worldwide</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Oct 2008 23:45:00 EST. Confirming a rumor that was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/02/rumor-of-the-day-tekken-6-for-360/">hinted at long ago</a>, Microsoft has just announced that another famed Namco Bandai fighter is hitting the Xbox 360.
