Each game costs $10 and features exactly what you'd expect from each: Buying/selling/trading property in <em>Monopoly</em>, becoming a teen widower in <em>LIFE</em>, etc. Players that also own Samsung smartphones (specifically the S1, S2 and S3) can download a free companion app that turns their phone into a motion controller for throwing dice and spinning wheels.<br /><br />We'd also like to take this opportunity to announce that "Playing <em>The Game of LIFE</em> while staring at a giant, expensive television" wins Joystiq's Unintentional Irony of the Year Award.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/07/game-of-life-and-monopoly-are-eas-first-games-on-samsung-smart/">Game of Life and Monopoly are EA's first games on Samsung Smart TVs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Nov 2012 23:59:00 EST. Once again, it's time for us to play a quick round of "One of These Things is Not Like the Others!" Our contestants are the five titles that will be added to your ever-burgeoning collection of digital board games this fall, with the release of <a href="http://investor.ea.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=468974"><em>Hasbro Family Game Night 3</em></a> for Wii, 360 and PS3. Okay, here goes: <em>The Game of Life</em>, <em>Clue</em>, <em>Mouse Trap</em>, <em>Yahtzee Hands Down</em> and ... <em>Twister</em>. We'll give you a second to think. Here's a hint: We separated the weird one from the other ones using an ellipsis.<br />
<br />
<em>Twister</em>? We can logistically see how the other four games could be adapted into a video game format, but ... <em>Twister</em>? Will <em>Hasbro Family Game Night 3</em> come bundled with a polka-dotted floor mat peripheral? Regardless, we'll have to find out when <em>Game Night 3</em> releases this fall, as the games will come bundled in a single retail package this time around, and, well -- we just <em>have</em> to get our hands on a video game version of <em>Mouse Trap</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/12/hasbro-family-game-night-3-coming-this-fall-with-five-more-board/">Hasbro Family Game Night 3 coming this fall with five more board games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 May 2010 10:11:00 EST. Apparently <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ea-mobile">EA Mobile</a> didn't realize that <em>Snood</em> has long since lapsed as our drug of choice -- we've already found a more adept pusher in Popcap with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/peggle"><em>Peggle</em></a>, silly gooses! Alongside the aging methamphetamine, EA Mobile has dropped iPhone iterations of <em>Clue</em> and <em>The Game of Life</em> in the iPhone App Store for purchase as of today.<br /> <br /> The games range from $3 to $5 and have already arrived on the App Store, though we bet you're 100k points deep in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/21/iphone-it-in-drop7/"><em>Drop7</em></a> this very minute, laughing while your personal assistant reads you off the titles of the three aforementioned games. "What is this hogwash you're telling me, Winston? Surely you jest -- these games are from an era that has long since passed!" We don't jest, dearest reader. <em>We never do</em>.<br /><br /><br /><strong>Clue: </strong><a href="http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=315286034&amp;mt=8"><img width="61" height="15" border="0" alt="Clue" src="http://ax.itunes.apple.com/images/badgeitunes61x15dark.gif" /></a><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Snood: </span><a href="http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=324647478&amp;mt=8"><img width="61" height="15" border="0" src="http://ax.itunes.apple.com/images/badgeitunes61x15dark.gif" alt="Snood" /></a><br /><strong>The Game of Life: </strong><a href="http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=326912270&amp;mt=8"><img width="61" height="15" border="0" alt="The Game of Life" src="http://ax.itunes.apple.com/images/badgeitunes61x15dark.gif" /></a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/27/ea-drops-clue-snood-and-the-game-of-life-onto-iphones/">EA drops Clue, Snood, and The Game of Life onto iPhone</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 Aug 2009 01:00:00 EST. Uber-conservative Christian site WorldNetDaily <a href="http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&amp;pageId=91291">recently published a <em>hard-hitting</em> investigative report</a> into Hasbro's downloadable PC title <em>The Game of Life</em>, an adaptation of a board game created by Milton Bradley in 1860. Their qualm with the game stems from the fact that it allows players to have same-sex marriages. A WND representative elocuted his or her hang-up with a review <a href="http://www.shockwave.com/gamelanding/gameoflife.jsp">on the game's hosting site</a>, explaining, "Many sections of society accept this as normative, but many also would consider this too mature a theme for children. Others would consider this downright offensive."<br /><br />According to the WND report, one unnamed "concerned mother" found that the inclusion of same-sex marriages raised questions in her six-year old daughter that she wasn't ready to answer. She posted a similar review containing these concerns, which was quickly deleted by an administrator for being "inappropriate." Her response to this censorship is where the story really jumps the shark -- "I had no idea how insidious they were being with pushing the homosexual agenda," she explained to WND.<br /><br />It's great when parents keep an eye on their youngsters' gaming habits, especially when they play said games with them. We understand a parent not wanting to discuss sexuality with a toddler -- what we <em>don't</em> understand is how the mere inclusion of same-sex marriages in the PC version of <em>Life</em> is the same as endorsing, or <em>insidiously pushing</em>, an "agenda." As WND concedes, even the original <em>Life</em> board game allowed players to bond two same-colored (and similarly gendered) pegs in holy plastic matrimony.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamepolitics.com/2009/03/13/conservative-christian-site-slams-same-sex-couple-option-game-life">GamePolitics</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/15/conservative-christian-site-decries-game-of-lifes-gay-agenda/">Conservative Christian site decries Game of Life's 'gay agenda'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 15 Mar 2009 14:00:00 EST.
