Dragon Age Redemption is bringing big-screen talent to an online miniseries, including Independence Day producer Peter Winther as director, Lost's John Bartley as executive producer and Hellboy's Doug Jones acting alongside Felicia Day (who, to this crowd, needs no introduction). At the Redemption Comic-Con panel, Day revealed that each episode will run six to 10 minutes, or an hour in total. Day, who wrote the script, said she modeled Redemption after The Guild, where each episode has a beginning, middle and end.

Redemption was also confirmed as canonical within the Dragon Age universe. The series doesn't have an official host site or release date yet, although Day did say, "It should be out early this fall. Don't tweet that." Luckily for us, this isn't Twitter.
Dragon Age Redemption teases a tentative release date and details originally appeared on Joystiq on Sat, 23 Jul 2011 03:00:00 EST. Felicia Day was one of the biggest gamer stars at this year's Comic-Con -- she premiered the trailer for her Syfy movie Red, sat on a panel about "Girls Gone Geek" and made two announcements to the packed room during The Guild panel on Saturday afternoon: First, the gang has put together its second music video, dubbed "Game On" (which you can watch online or on Xbox Live); and second, Microsoft (which posts The Guild videos in HD on Xbox Live every Tuesday) will be releasing Guild-related Avatar skins this fall, so you can dress up your Xbox Live Avatar as your favorite Guild member.

In between her busy schedule of panels and signings, I caught up with Day to chat about what she's been playing, the new music video and about whether or not The Guild webseries, currently in its fourth season, has outgrown its gamer roots. Find our conversation posted after the break.
This past Saturday brought us the Spike TV Video Game Awards and - before experiencing the litany of world exclusives that awaited us inside - we spent some time outside cruising the red carpet and talking (briefly!) to many of the game developers and talent. We squeezed them for information as fast as we could while simultaneously wishing them holiday cheer and good tidings. Yes, it was as awkward as it sounds. Here's what we learned from Felicia Day about, well ... Felicia Day.

How's the show going?

We just, a couple of weeks ago, the last episode of Season Three came out so we're between seasons right now. We're waiting for an update from Microsoft ... or Xbox. And I'm writing a comic book for Dark Horse before we start Season Four. Jim Rugg is the artist, but we have some amazing cover artists ... I can't say who yet, but when I get the art back I'm just blown away.

We talked with Blizzard about the 5 & 15 year anniversaries for Warcraft, and we asked them why there are no girls in the "What's Your Game" commercials and they asked us for suggestions. Why haven't you done one?

I know! You know, that would be a good call for me ... I'm one of those people who are recognized in certain circles, and not in others, and I like to keep it that way. But it would be great, I mean ... I'm a WoW girl, I love it!

So you think you could see yourself in one of those wacky commercials?

I would hope that they wouldn't be able to put my head on their character, like with the Mr. T one. Because that would just be too creepy. It already was creepy! I was trying to do like my "Thanksgiving" quest and I'm all "Stop with the Mr. T!" They were all over the place!

Are you working on anything now?

I'm filming the last episode of Dollhouse. The way that they wrap everything up is amazing, they really did it. I think I still have some apocalyptic dirt on my neck still. Also, I'm on an episode of Lie to Me ... I've been working for Fox a lot and I don't know why!

Are you playing anything else besides WoW right now?

Well, I play everything ... except I haven't played Uncharted 2 yet. I don't have a PS3. You know ... those are tax-deductible. Maybe I need to pick one up.
VGA 2009: Felicia Day on Felicia Day originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 17 Dec 2009 01:30:00 EST. Speaking to Business Week, Microsoft's general manager of global content acquisition and strategy, Ross Honey, painted a somewhat bleak picture for web content on Xbox Live. While The Guild has managed to succeed on Microsoft's platform, it has done so via a sponsorship deal with Sprint. Apparently, finding a different way to monetize a web series -- like inserting ads into programming -- is generally more trouble than it's worth.

Furthermore, Honey tells Business Week that it's important that Microsoft finds content that will "move the needle" -- in other words, content that will appeal to the Xbox audience. Honey pointed out that "gamers love watching things about gaming," noting that the World of Warcraft and Guitar Hero inspired South Park episodes are the most popular shows on Xbox Live.

Failing that, you could always make your web series about Halo.
Web content on Xbox Live not a Microsoft priority originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 21 Sep 2009 14:20:00 EST.

Mad Men: Season 3 - My Old Kentucky Home (PSN: $2.99 HD or $1.99 SD to own)
If you haven't been watching AMC's Mad Men, then you've been missing out on the cultural phenomenon that's making everyone wish they were living back in the early 1960s. Men wore suits and fedoras and had three-martini lunches, and women wore dresses and enough underwear to construct an entire parachute. Don Draper has replaced James Bond as the cool man every guy wants to be ... and he's a freaking ad executive. Highly recommended.

World's Greatest Dad (840 HD, 560 SD to rent)
This movie ran the festival circuit and had a lot of good buzz, which is rare for a Robin Williams movie these days. I missed this when I was at Sundance, but enough of my movie-going critic friends loved it that I feel comfortable recommending it. It's a black comedy starring Williams, is directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, and had a small theatrical opening on August 21. Now you can already watch it on Xbox Live. Not too shabby. Maybe we're not too far away from theater and at-home release dates being the same day all the time.

Read for the full list on a system-by-system basis just after the break. As usual, we'll see you at the popcorn st ... well, actually we won't see you at all. But you catch our drift. If referencing one of the world's most popular online games on a regular basis doesn't give them enough "geek cred," cast members of the popular "internet TV show," The Guild, will be on hand for a laundry list of events during this week's San Diego Comic-Con.

Internet darling Felicia Day and other stars of The Guild are holding a panel discussion on Friday, July 24, at 10:30AM (Pacific), with promises of a sneak peak at season three of the show and an exclusive Comic-Con video. Festivities continue with The Guild panel signing autographs from noon until 1PM and conclude with a Game with Fame session where The Guild cast will throw down in some hardcore Marvel vs. Capcom 2 action at 2PM.

The Guild: Season 3 is slated to hit Xbox Live this fall and our hearts always.
'The Guild' scheduled to raid Comic-Con originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 22 Jul 2009 07:00:00 EST. As if there was any doubt, the Hollywood Reporter writes that Felicia Day's hit online sitcom, The Guild, has been renewed for a third season, courtesy of Microsoft. The third season will contain twelve episodes and will begin in "late summer," with a sneak peek available at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. As part of the agreement with Microsoft, episodes will once again be made available on Xbox Live and Microsoft's online video portal.

Felicia Day is currently in the process of writing the episodes, with plans to begin production in June. With regards to the plot, cards are being kept very close to Day's chest, though she has said that "the cliffhanger in Season 2 is pretty dramatic, and the repercussions of that will be felt by the guild [in season 3]. Expect a lot of real-life distractions for the characters and some hurt feelings from the last season."

We'll be there with bells on. In the meantime, The Guild fans can pre-order the season 2 DVD at Amazon in preparation for its May 19 release.

[Via @Feliciaday]
The Guild renewed for third season, beginning late summer originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 05 May 2009 02:00:00 EST. Season two of the internet sitcom sensation, The Guild, is hitting DVD on May 19, exclusively from Amazon. Austria's JoWood Productions has a growing affection for Nintendo. The Gothic publisher announced today that it plans to "increasingly focus" on both the DS and Wii, with ports of its PC medieval RTS The Guild and 2D puzzler Neighbors From Hell (PC version pictured) already in the works for Nintendo's popular console duo.

The effort is all part of an effort by the company to broaden its game portfolio. In particular, JoWood expects Neighbors From Hell to "benefit hugely" from the unique control styles afforded by both the DS and Wii when it reaches for store shelves in the second quarter. Just don't pull a muscle, JoWood, especially after bringing Yoga Wii to market around the same time.
JoWooD to 'increasingly focus' on Nintendo platforms originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 05 Feb 2009 10:54:00 EST.
During PAX 2008 we had a chance to sit down (on very comfortable bean bags, mind you) and talk with Felicia Day, producer and star of The Guild and star of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Day also sang "Still Alive" with Jonathan Coulton the first night of the convention. Some notes from the interview:

Filming for Season 2 will begin next month. HD cameras will be used, not so much for web streaming but for potential download and the Season 2 DVD. The 13- to 15-episode season will be "a little bit longer," approximately 5 to 6 minutes apiece.

Day has a level 66 Warlock and level 63 Priest. As an example of life imitating art, Day explains that her fans from the show and the actors who play Zaboo, Vork and Bladezz all play in a guild together.

She signed the chest of one Dr. Horrible cosplayer and saw another with "actual Wonderflonium." (Warning: Interview contains spoilers.)

Day guest stars as the patient in episode 2 of the upcoming season of House, but she does not have Lupus.

Not mentioned: Her demand that Tycho groom her.
