From today through July 18, you'll be able to get the RDR Undead Nightmare Collection (containing three separate DLC packs) for 1,000 Microsoft Points, down from 1,600. That deal is part of a "Zombies!" promotion also featuring Dead Rising 2: Case West (now 400 Microsoft Points) and Stubbs the Zombie (800 MSP).

From July 19 through July 25, it's all GTA, with GTAIV add-ons Ballad of Gay Tony for 800 MSP, The Lost and Damned for 400, and GTA San Andreas for 800 points. See a few more items, including new Avatar items and Dance Central DLC, on Major Nelson's site.

Calling the two companies' relationship "a historic, strategic partnership" - remember this? - and calling the episodes themselves "profitable contributors to the company," Feder nevertheless offered some insight into what his company could have done to make them even more profitable.

"Both were released significantly after the launch of the core unit," Feder says, referring to the April 2008 launch of Grand Theft Auto 4. "And therefore weren't able to leverage GTA 4's initial marketing campaign and initial launch fervor." With The Lost and Damned coming out in February of this year, some 10 months after GTA 4's initial release, and The Ballad of Gay Tony this past October, 18 months after the initial release, we'd have to agree that timing played an issue; the GTA 4 hype machine had worn off.

If the details of the update are accurate -- and users on the GFW forums indicate they are -- it looks like the DLC's long touted Xbox 360 exclusivity may be drawing to a close. Of course, as Games for Windows is also a Microsoft platform, it doesn't necessarily mean that PS3 owners will be joining in anytime soon.

We've contacted Microsoft for clarification on the update and will update this post when we receive new information.

In case you'd forgotten, Major Nelson reminded us this morning that this week's Xbox Live Deal of the Week is the Grand Theft Auto IV expansion, The Lost and Damned. Rather than running you the standard price of 1600 ($20), the motorcycle gang-themed DLC will only cost 1200 ($15) this week.

Considering how many games have already headed into the "early 2010" release window, we wouldn't be surprised to see the retail compilation of The Lost and Damned with The Ballad of Gay Tony slip to next year. Hopefully this week's discount on the former is a precursor to the latter getting a release date or, well, any info at all since it was announced back in May. In the meantime, at lease we're getting a discount!

The second episode of Rockstar's promised downloadable expansions to Grand Theft Auto IV has been announced! The cheeky developer revealed the DLC as The Ballad of Gay Tony, which places you in the (assumed) fancy shoes of Luis Lopez, a "part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince" (or "Gay Tony"), the titular bar mogul who made a number of appearances in GTA IV.

While we're sure to hear more about the particulars of Gay Tony during E3, the method of the game's release should prove to be interesting as well. Not only will the expansion hit Xbox Live this fall for $19.99, it'll also appear on a retail disc with The Lost and Damned. This retail disc, titled Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, won't contain the core GTA IV game -- nor will it require GTA IV to play. It'll hit store shelves in the fall, selling for $39.99. We'll let you know more when we know more!

DLC can expand a game in many ways. Not only can it expand the experience offered by a title, but it can also expand your wallet, take out your money, and place it in the hands of publishers and developers. And, by 2010, EEDAR predicts that "the average AAA title should be able to earn an additional 10% in revenue by releasing additional content through digital distribution."

It's not a hard pill to swallow; DLC packs such as The Lost and Damned and Call of Duty: World at War's Map Pack 1 have been selling like virtual hotcakes, and Sony has been milking LittleBigPlanet in all the appropriate ways. Also, let's not forget about Criterion Games, the company that has been adding value consistently to its Burnout Paradise game. Of course, gamers have been complaining about paid DLC just as consistently.

Electronic Entertainment Design and Research (EEDAR) analyst Jesse Divnich's crystal ball predicts brick-and-mortar retail sales of GTA IV's expansion, The Lost and Damned, to be less than $3 million. He believes current global sales from customers who purchased it across Xbox Live to be around $18 million. This latest bit of analyst prognostication comes following Pachter's missive (translated from an Illuminati memo) that GTA's biker expansion could sell upwards of two million units by year's end.

Although the 6-to-1 online vs. retail ratio seems dramatic, is it really surprising when The Lost and Damned was promoted as a DLC pack anyway? In this case, retail was just a middle man, as those who purchased the "game" at their local bodega received a card with a code to download the expansion. All we really know at this point is that the game is selling very well.

Wedbush Morgan soothsayer Michael Pachter foresees the next console Grand Theft Auto releasing next year and estimates sales of DLC The Lost and Damned reaching two million units by year's end. Pachter feels Take-Two remains a "one-hit wonder" with Grand Theft Auto, that one franchise has been (putting it mildly) immensely successful.

Although Take-Two has yet to announce a new GTA, Pachter believes the next installment in the crime series will pull up to retail next year and likely outsell GTA IV by 50 percent, due to the greater next-gen console install base by next year. Although there are currently no solid numbers to support Pachter's belief that The Lost and Damned DLC will sell two million units this year, we do know a lot of people got on their hogs for biker-based adventure.

Move over Bionic Commando: Rearmed and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, because there's a new top earner on Xbox Live, and it's GTA IV's "The Lost and Damned". Rockstar's Xbox 360-exclusive DLC pack featuring Johnny and his crazy motorbiking buddies has set a record on the service, as its first-day sales revenue has eclipsed all other titles that have debuted on Xbox Live (note: at $20, The Lost and Damned is also more expensive than the previous record holders). Sadly, exact sales figures aren't given, so we don't know how much Microsoft and Rockstar have made off the DLC yet. When we know, we'll be sure to let you know.

GTA IV's "The Lost and Damned" DLC pack is available now on Xbox Live Marketplace for 1600.

Digital dong appreciators in Singapore rejoiced today as government officials have OK'd the digital distribution of the Grand Theft Auto IV 360-exclusive expansion, "The Lost & Damned." Regardless of the "controversy" surrounding the expansion's full-frontal male nudity, Ernest Khoo, Singapore's head of video games and media content at the Singapore Media Development Authority, has deemed the DLC safe enough for consumption in the country.

Approaching the nudity issue head on, Mr. Khoo says, "[the scene is] non-sexual and can hence fall within the M18 rating." Expanding on the M18 rating, he explained, "only those 18-years-old and above will be buying the game and its expansion pack." Hopefully, the army of Media Development Authority workers manning individual Xbox 360s in Singapore will be checking IDs.

Many of Liberty City's proxy residents who'd returned to the crime-riddled metropolis following the release of The Lost and Damned were recently perplexed by what appeared to be some random acts of censorship that tagged along with the expansion -- certain European versions of GTA IV suddenly lacked the game's most NSFW elements. Namely, bullet infused corpses no longer spilled excessive pools of blood, and when in the company of a paid escort, camera control was stripped of the player while said escort performed the services she was contracted to execute. (Hooker sex, people. We mean hooker sex.)

This censorship seemed an odd addendum to an expansion which unapologetically brought us a faceful of prong -- as it turns out, the censorship was indeed accidental. At least, that's the claim of Rockstar, who attribute the "error" to the game's latest title update. Why the changes were incorporated into the update in the first place, or why only certain copies of the game were affected is still a mystery, but Rockstar is hoping to release a quick de-censoring patch "within the next few hours."

Typically, when Australia's Office of Film and Literature Classification (the game rating board for the Land Down Under) is criticized for shoddy job performance, the attacks are coming from ... well, people like us. This is because the board's highest rating is MA15+, meaning games containing similar content to games rated Mature by the ESRB are often refused classification and sent back to the developer for content cuts.

However, the OFLC has recently come under fire from its harshest critics, not due to its refusal to classify certain games, but rather, because of its rating for the recently released expansion to GTA IV, The Lost and Damned. These critics take issue with the fact that the expansion earned a rating from the OFLC without undergoing any content cuts, while GTA IV was forced to clean up its act before getting approved. These critics claim the similarities between the core game and expansion are evidence of major disparities in the Australian rating board.

These critics might have a point -- the OFLC could be taking on a more lax approach to their classification of mature content titles. However, it's just as likely that Rockstar made content cuts to Lost and Damned before the first submission in order to avoid a refusal of classification -- and a costly resubmission. There's only one way to tell: Australian readers, we need you to boot up the game and, well, check for any and all wangs. We know, it's a lot to ask.

Though we're certain most players were expecting a fair amount of dicks in The Lost and Damned's cast, the presence of a penis may come as a surprise.

The folks at 1UP (NSFW) have captured the scene between protagonist Johnny Klebitz and massage-loving exhibitionist Mr. Stubbs in all its full frontal glory. If you're going to watch it, be prepared to have an important thought rushing to your head: Is Rockstar cheekily pushing our beloved medium forward, or simply erecting another financially beneficial controversy trap?

We're inclined to think that IT'S A TRAP.

If you're hesitant to drop a Jackson on tomorrow's expansion for Rockstar's magnum opus, a recent UGO preview of The Lost and Damned might have a few tidbits that'll make you renew that studio apartment lease in Liberty City. In addition to the lengthy new campaign, the add-on will apparently ... add on a few chopper-centric multiplayer modes.

Some modes are simply bike-infused rehashes of the original gametypes, but a few stick out like a sore, awesome thumb -- namely, Chopper vs. Chopper, in which one player rides through checkpoints around the city on a bike while his opponent chases him down in a gun-toting helicopter; and the revamped Race mode, which arms competing bikers with clubs, which they can use to take out other players in a brutal, Road Rash-esque fashion. We'll let you know if these new gametypes are worth the price of admission once we've had a chance to get lost in The Lost and Damned.

Dust off those copies of Grand Theft Auto IV and get ready to join the Brotherhood. A brand new trailer for the upcoming Xbox 360-exclusive DLC, The Lost & Damned, has jumped online and features a few familiar faces. Notable cameos include drug runner Elizabeta Torres and GTA IV's main protagonist, Niko Bellic.

Based on the appearance of Torres and her dialog, The Lost & Damned will bring players back to the mission Blow Your Cover, from GTA IV. In the mission, Niko follows Playboy X and Johnny Klebitz (the protagonist in Lost & The Damned) to a heroin deal that eventually goes horribly wrong. Other moments from The Lost & Damned are said to weave into the original GTA IV story, where Johnny Klebitz was a supporting character during a pair of key missions.

GTA IV: The Lost & Damned will release on February 17, for 1600 ($19.99 US). The full trailer can be found after the break.

When it was revealed that Liberty City's radio stations and TV would get an injection of fresh content with the Xbox 360-exclusive add-on, The Lost and Damned, we wondered just how much new music we'd get to hear. Well, the wondering is over, as MTV has posted details on the upcoming add-on pack's music content.

If you're a fan of hip-hop and rap, then you're in luck. The Beat 102.7 is getting a new show, hosted by Funkmaster Flex, as well as a slew of new songs (some recorded specifically for GTA) and another new show DJed by Statik Selektah. Then there's Busta Rhymes, who will have another track featured other than his upcoming premiere of "Conglomerate."

On the other end of the spectrum, metal station Liberty City Hardcore is getting some fresh content with a new show DJed by Max Cavalera of Sepultura and Soulfly fame (click here for a sample of his brand of metal) and will feature new tunes, including artist Bathory. On Liberty Rock Radio 97.8, Iggy Pop will return as DJ, and the station will get some new tracks, and indie-rock Radio Broker, DJed by Juliette Lewis, will also receive some new music.

Interesting factoid: the new music and shows will play first, before the established music and shows, allowing the new content to have priority with players. So that's nice.

News first, then a question: Microsoft just announced that when Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned arrives next week, it will bring with it a free week of GTA IV multiplayer from Feb. 17 to 22. The week will be marked by a "Game With Rockstar" event and more, which you can read about right here.

We're sure the Busta news would be more interesting if we still lived in 1996, but just go with it. When recently posited with a query as to whether or not Michael Hollick, the voice actor who provided the pipes for GTA IV's Niko Bellic, would make a reprise appearance in the title's upcoming DLC expansion, The Lost and Damned, a Rockstar exec responded rather emphatically -- "Hell no!" This could be because Bellic, while making a few cameos in the expansion, isn't a huge focus in the storyline. Unlike the other major characters of The Lost, Bellic's dialogue can easily be recreated from the original game.

However, the H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks portion of the response could possibly be due to comments Hollick made in a New York Times article in May of last year. In said article, Hollick expressed disappoinment that his union failed to negotiate anything more than a $100,000 contract for his voice work -- a paltry sum when compared to the game's total sales figures. Then again, that's just speculation. It could just be that the queried party was all hopped up on caffeine when he answered the question, or possibly that he possesses a low-grade case of tourette's.

Rockstar has released two new trailers for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV "Lost and Damned" DLC, each showcasing one of the episode's new characters. The first, Billy Grey, is the leader of The Lost, Liberty City's notorious biker gang. A walking bad attitude with a leather jacket, let's just say he's not the kind of guy you'd want hanging around your sister. Or anyone close to you. Or yourself, for that matter. Malc, on the other hand, is a tough customer himself and looks to be a member of a different kind of biker gang. Are we sensing a conflict between these two groups?

Rockstar's first batch of DLC -- that's downloadable crime -- for the hugely lucrative Grand Theft Auto IV has been priced. The 360-exclusive expansion, dubbed The Lost and the Damned, will return players to the licentious Liberty City, starting February 17th for 1600 ($20).

According to several online previews (compiled by GTAGaming), players will receive: between 10 and 20 hours of new gameplay; plenty of new missions; additional music; more weapons; and membership to a fearsome motorcycle club biker gang. Are you in?

Rockstar has confirmed to Eurogamer that the upcoming DLC for Grand Theft Auto IV will be priced for the long-rumored cost of 1600 ($19.99 at retail). The Lost and Damned is said to add hours of game play as players take on the role of Johnny Klebitz, member of the Liberty City biker gang The Lost.

The 1600 price-point rumor had been swirling since video game retailer GameStop added a product page for The Lost and Damned on its website. The retail version of the content will not ship on disc, instead it will be made available in the form of a redemption code that will require a connection to Live (Yes, Silver Members too). We've been operating under the assumption that the content would be 1600 for quite some time and comments we've seen don't appear to be too angry at it, considering the amount of content promised. But now that it's official, what do you think about the price to re-enter Liberty City?

The Lost and Damned will become available on February 17, exclusively on the Xbox 360.

The long-awaited downloadable episodes for Grand Theft Auto IV are nearly upon us and, thanks to Spike's Meh-tastic Video Game Awards show, eight new screens of the first chapter have been released. To recap, GTA IV: The Lost and Damned follows biker-gang "The Lost" and its eternal struggle for control over the leather clad, gruff dude stereotype all bikers in Liberty City seem to have nailed down. Or something like that.

GTA IV: The Lost and Damned is set to drop exclusively on the Xbox 360 for a reported 1600MS Points on February 17, 2009, and will feature "new missions that offer an entirely fresh way to explore Liberty City," along with new multiplayer modes, weapons, vehicles and music. We expect "Bad to the Bone" will be at least one of those tracks.

In its continuing and unyielding quest for world exclusives, Spike TV is adding another notch to its already pretty well-notched VGA belt with the "world premiere" of "The Lost and Damned," the first of two Xbox 360-exclusive DLC expansions for Grand Theft Auto IV.

There's not much more to glean from this press release - "The Lost and Damned" will provide "new missions that offer an entirely fresh way to explore Liberty City with new multiplayer modes, weapons and vehicles; and a diverse soundtrack with additional music" - but we're imagining the actual reveal will be a little more ... revelatory. A retail chain selling downloadable content? What madness does the world find itself plummeting into now? According to a listing on Gamestop's online store, the forthcoming Grand Theft Auto IV add-on episode, The Lost and Damned, can be purchased as an Xbox Live Marketplace token card. The product page indicates that no disc is included in the packaging -- it contains only the download code (nonrefundable!) and a two-sided poster.

The chance to revisit the two-faced posers of Liberty City will seemingly cost you $19.99 when it releases on February 17th, 2009. The Lost and Damned's price has yet to be confirmed by Rockstar.

Hot on the heels of their announcement of Grand Theft Auto IV The Lost and Damned (the first hunk of episodic DLC), Rockstar has released four high-res screenshots for your viewing pleasure. You can view the screens in the nifty gallery below and analyze every last detail. You may notice that biker dudes are a running theme in the screenshots and it's for good reason. The DLC's main character Johnny Klebitz is part of a Liberty City biker gang.

We're also informed that The Lost and Damned content will feature "new missions that offer an entirely fresh way to explore Liberty City," along with new multiplayer modes, weapons, vehicles and music. Really, how can you go wrong?

Following yesterday's news in USA Today, Rockstar has officially announced the first of two DLC episodes for the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV, titled "The Lost and Damned." The first high-res screens of the episode are out, along with a bare minimum of new details.

In addition to what yesterday's report contained - that players will control a new lead character, Johnny Klebitz, a biker with Liberty City motorcycle club The Lost - today's announcement confirms that the episode will contain "new missions that offer an entirely fresh way to explore Liberty City," along with new vehicles, weapons, multiplayer modes, and music.

The episode arrives via Xbox Live Marketplace on Feb. 17, and (obviously) requires the original GTA IV to play. We've been wondering if a Gold account will be required as well, but Rockstar's announcement merely mentions an Xbox Live account as a prerequisite for download. So ... let's hear your theories on the plot.

USA Today reports that the first DLC episode for the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV will be titled "The Lost and Damned" and will be available for download on Feb. 17, 2009. According to the article, the episode will star Johnny Klebitz, a member of Liberty City biker gang The Lost.

The paper's website quotes Rockstar VP of creative development, Dan Houser, who calls Johnny "a very different character than Niko, with a very different background," adding on the topic of plot specifics, "I can't go into too much detail on the story, because we try not to give away too much plot before the game is released. But I can say that the story will show you a different side of Liberty City." Rockstar has not revealed pricing for the content, but we'll keep on top of that and any further details.

[Update: Take-Two and Rockstar just confirmed the details with their very own press release, for those of you who refuse to believe anything in USA Today that isn't presented in chart form.]
