This seems like a rather sudden and drastic price drop, the kind that <em>might</em> be a mistake, so don't tarry if you're thinking of picking it up.<br /><br /><em>The Munchables</em> has actually been getting reasonably good (if not glowing) <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/wii/muchables?q=munchables">reviews</a>, so at this low price, it might be worth a look. Namco-Bandai has described this as <em>Pac-Man </em>meets <em>Katamari Damacy</em>, but we're pretty sure that comparison is inaccurate. Instead, we'd say it has equal parts <em>Pac-Man</em>, <em>Katamari Damacy</em>, and <span><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ft5EcQfV8sU">Violet Beauregarde</a>.</span> Head past the break for the second trailer (and more addictive tunes).<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/">The Munchables (Wii)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508670"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchablesartwork_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508669"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchables_042109_008_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508668"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchables_042109_007_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508667"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchables_042109_006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508666"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchables_042109_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/21/even-the-munchables-couldnt-eat-all-of-this-new-media/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Even The Munchables couldn't eat all of this new media</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/21/even-the-munchables-couldnt-eat-all-of-this-new-media/">Even The Munchables couldn't eat all of this new media</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 Apr 2009 18:30:00 EST. Check out this latest trailer and you'll instantly see why. Essentially, the goal of the game is to eat everything in sight -- that's the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/pac-man"><em>Pac-Man</em></a> part, see -- which in turn causes the main character to grow larger -- and there's the <em>Katamari</em> part. Watch closely and you'll even notice areas that require players to reach a specific size before they can be accessed, which is also similar to <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/katamari"><em>Katamari</em></a>. The opening cinematic also shares some of <em>Katamari</em>'s distinctive eccentricity.<br /><br />On a side note, we're really digging the old-school cartoon sound effects employed by the game. They really help to offset the grisly reality that this thing is eating <em>every living creature</em> in its vicinity ... and it's <em>the good guy</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=79480">Go Nintendo</a>]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/">The Munchables (Wii)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508670"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchablesartwork_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508669"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchables_042109_008_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508668"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchables_042109_007_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508667"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchables_042109_006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508666"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchables_042109_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/17/pac-man-meet-katamari-new-munchables-trailers/">Pac-Man, meet Katamari: New Munchables trailers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Apr 2009 19:50:00 EST. As a Munchable, players must defeat the space pirates -- such deliciously wicked creatures as the Eggplanter and the Space Shroom -- by devouring them. As they eat, the Munchables grow. It's clearly a kid-friendly game, but the graphics are fairly impressive (if overly colorful) and the eating-based combat (which is <em>vaguely</em> reminiscent of <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/e308-u-s-to-gobble-prey-the-stars-this-october/"><em>Prey the Stars</em></a>) sounds entertaining, at the very least. Besides, <em>Don Onion! Eggplanter!</em> The quirkiness is compelling. And we're total suckers for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/10/parappa-crowned-greatest-game-canine/">games</a> with <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Da99SKvtGE4">onion characters</a>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/">The Munchables (Wii)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508670"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchablesartwork_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508669"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchables_042109_008_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508668"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchables_042109_007_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508667"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchables_042109_006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-munchables-wii/#1508666"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/munchables_042109_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/04/namco-bandai-serving-the-munchables-on-wii/">Namco Bandai serving The Munchables on Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 04 Mar 2009 18:52:00 EST.
