Also like last week, Namco Bandai releases a pair of arcade games in the same series, this time the more recognizable Dig Dug. And WiiWare returns! ... With Uno.

On DS, there's another chunk of The Tower DS, more Japanese city maps, and some English training.
The 1,000 point The Tower DS Classic, out August 26, includes the final stage from the DigiToys-published DS game, with tutorials and explanatory text to help players jump right in.

The good news, potentially, is that some company is more likely to translate and release a low-risk downloadable game than a cartridge, so there's a more reasonable chance that this smaller Tower will make the move outside of Japan.

The Tower DS being built in miniature originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 29 Jul 2009 17:30:00 EST. Publisher DigiToys released new screens featuring zoomed-out views of entire towers, showing off the incredible amount of detail that frazzled players will have to deal with. We also get to see inside the Mario monument, which is a playable tower like any other, though it has only one inhabitable floor (an observation deck inside Mario's hat).

The new game includes some wacky DS options, of course. You can yell into the mic to deliver wake-up calls to your residents, and put out fires with your breath. We should have expected as much from a guy who made a game about talking to fish, and another game about yelling at troops to encourage them to push a pinball around.

The Tower DS's Japanese release looms originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 25 Jun 2008 17:00:00 EST. Most importantly, it looks like you can still check in on your tenants and find out how they're feeling. The major innovation here over, say, The Tower SP, is touchscreen control. For any building-type game, it's a lot nicer to use a stylus than a pad and buttons!

Nintendo characters (or a character, at least) make appearances as monuments -- or maybe as buildings! Who wouldn't want to live in a giant Mario?

Hop in the elevator and go to the "past the post break" floor to look at the full scan. Digitoys is set to publish the game in Japan on June 26th for 4,800 yen ($47).
Continue reading Ground broken on The Tower DS

Ground broken on The Tower DS originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 13 Mar 2008 13:30:00 EST.
