The DLC will include Tingle and the game's youthful Link as playable characters, the former giving his enemies a kiss of death and whipping them with bags of rupees. The pack will also include three as-yet-unknown character skins.

Update: Nintendo says the DLC will cost $7.99 and will also feature a new Adventure Mode map.

Dekisugi Tingle Pack is a DSiWare download that is actually not a game, but a set of little tools and apps, all starring Link's "pal."

The included utilities are a fortune-telling program (hence the fortune teller on the website), a calculator, a little dancing Tingle image that dances in front of your photos, a timer, and a coin-flipping minigame.

But don't get upset about the secret Tingle project being a 500-point non-game and not a real game, because the latest issue of Famitsu reveals another Tingle DS game, this time more in the style of Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland. The new game, called Irobuki Tingle no Ai no Balloon Trip (Color-changing Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love) features the green-suited adventurer searching for, yes, love. The teaser site offers a fake news report, a fake dating show, and some Flipnote Studio Tingle animations, all in celebration of this new game.

We've dutifully captured the videos for you here (see them after the break), but in case you don't have about fifteen seconds to watch, we'll summarize for you: the first features Tingle and an unidentified figure dancing, the second shows Tingle standing around with two other characters, both of whom are dressed in Tingle-style clothing, and the last clip shows Tingle floating on his balloon.

So what have we learned about the new game? Tingle's in it ... along with some other characters.

Hot on the heels of a new ad spotted in Famitsu, a new Tingle website has appeared at Nintendo Japan. The website actually features the fairy-obsessed man-in-green very little, but it still contains plenty of his ... eccentric charm. Our Japanese is rusty (nonexistent, really), but it looks like you can sign up for something. Also, clicking on the television reveals a static filled screen with the date June 18, so we expect something should pop up by then.

In the meantime, clicking the bell in the center of the screen allows you to have your fortune read by the freaky soothsayer seen above. What does it all mean? All signs point to a new Tingle game be revealed soon.

Often, they're just Thing: More Specific or Perhaps More General Thing, because colons add weight and authority, you know. Or at least the appeal of more words. Those titles that take the approach of fewer words are usually called something along the lines of Thing, or possibly Thingy Thing, because adjectives demonstrate creativity.

With the patterns established, we're free to look at titles that break out of the pack, the games with hilarious names -- intentional and not -- or just interesting titles. What are your favorites among the DS's library? Hands down, it should probably be Freshly Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland.

Unfortunately, there appears to be one major obstacle: the game is only available in the UK and Europe, and Sandy is struggling to find anywhere that will send European games to the States. Ebay is one obvious answer, we suppose, but it has its downsides. Can any of our fantastically wise readers help out?

Incidentally, we feel Sandy's pain here -- it doesn't happen often, but occasionally a Europe-only release will be cruelly out of our grasp. Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland is one recent example of this, and Cooking Guide: Can't Decide What to Eat? will become another, when it launches tomorrow.

For the rest of you, where do you import your DS gear and games from? We all know about the likes of Play-Asia and NCSX, and as excellent as they are, are there any smaller sites you feel are just as worth buying from?

At least, that's the message we drew from Cracked.com's list of video game characters that inspire rage -- of the fifteen personalities listed, around half appear in Nintendo games.

While we wouldn't normally post about such lists, there's very little room for complaining about many of these choices. Time and again, Slippy's utter ineptitude has seen us launching spittle-flecked rants at our screens, Waluigi possesses a voice akin to nails on a blackboard (though this blogger will admit to finding him useful in Mario Kart DS), and Tingle is annoying for reasons that should need no explaining whatsoever.

The only unfair inclusions we can see? The Dog from Duck Hunt, and Animal Crossing: Wild World's Mr. Resetti, whose bluster we actually find entertaining. Not that we're cheats.

It might never get released in the States, but that won't stop MTV's Stephen Totilo from dissecting Freshly Picked: Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland, the Nintendo DS anti-Zelda game that's, apparently, all about the Benjamins.

According to Totilo, Rosy Rupeeland makes money the center of everything. Tingle's health meter doubles as his wallet, which means players are taking damage every time they spend money. This would be a minor problem, except that Rosy Rupeeland turns practically every interaction into a transaction. The game even allows you to sell your in-game map, sacrificing navigational assistance for a few extra rupees.

As if that wasn't cruel enough, characters who are gracious enough to pay you actually ask how much you want, and either chastise you for asking too much or mock you for asking too little. Totilo argues that the game seeks to undermine the good-natured currency exchange of normal Zelda titles by making the player stress about money. Maybe it's the American capitalism talking, but sign us up. Anyone else have a renewed interest in Tingle and his Rosy Rupeeland?

European and Japanese game, Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland has a new trailer showing the too-hot-for-America RPG. While no U.S. release has been mentioned, Tingle importers should at least be able to read the English in the European version, due September 14. That's assuming fans of Tingle can read.

We can't imagine Tingle not getting a U.S. release after the work has been done for the European localization. But maybe our myopic tastes make Nintendo nervous. (See the last sentence of the previous paragraph for an example.)

Nintendo Europe has officially announced that Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland will be heading to the DS there on Sept. 14. They did mention this before, but now it's like really official because it came in a press release. We currently have no release info from Nintendo of America, which kinda makes us wonder what is it about this game that's fine for European sensibilities, but not OK for America? They don't think we can handle a middle-aged man-boy in a spandex suit? The game's already in English, we're sure we can get over words being misspelled like colour and favourite, it doesn't have to be American localized. Then again, US gamers can always just import the game from Europe and it'll work just fine -- except for the misspellings.

In all seriousness, Nintendo Europe needs to stop releasing their "European" information in British £ only form. Dear European readers, it's not us, it's them. Nintendo says the game will retail for £25, a quick check on German Amazon.de shows the game will be €35. And so Americans have no idea when to expect the Tingle RPG and Nintendo of Europe can't seem to learn how to write a press release using the majority currency of the continent -- we sense Tingle magic is afoot.

We reported that Tingle's Rosey Rupeeland would be released in Europe on the 19th of September. Apparently, Tingle has drawn a really good map from Japan to Nintendo of Europe, because the game is actually coming out on the 13th. Kooloo-limpah!

Why are we so excited? Well, you see, many people who live in Europe speak and read English natively, much like we do. Therefore, when Japanese video game companies release a game for European audiences, they feel compelled to include English text. Roleplaying games, like this one, have a lot of text. It really works best for us when text is in a language we read.

NCSX is taking preorders for the European release now for $49.90. We'd be breaking pots and cutting grass looking for Rupees, but we remembered that American businesses actually use the dollar, which is acquired through work. Fun fact!

Ever lie about what you're playing? Say, for instance, you're playing Pokemon, which is widely regarded among the non-gaming population (and certain contingents of the gaming population) as for babies, and you, as a non-baby, are asked what's in your DS by a friend.

Do you say something distinctly un-baby-like, like Brain Age or the tough-sounding Tank Beat? Or do you stay true to yourself and happily announce that you're training your new Wurmple? Are there other situations in which you consider lying? If, for example, you are playing Brain Age and you're accosted by a gamer friend who hasn't joined the non-game revolution? Or if some bloggers survey their audience and you're playing something that you don't think is appropriately cool?

Nintendo of Japan's super-cool Club Nintendo has yet another weird/amazing DS title that North America and Europe will probably never see. First, it was the Game & Watch Collection, followed by the less desirable but still enticing Tingle's Balloon Fight. And now, the special Japan-only point-redemption system is rewarding lucky gamers with Exclamation Warriors, a bizarre DS game which exclusively utilizes the microphone for gameplay

Exclamation Warriors has players controlling spandex-suited sentai heroes (think Mighty Morphin Power Rangers). The game is multiplayer by necessity, and requires 2-3 players to fight monsters by (are you ready for this?) yelling the names of super-moves simultaneously, in typical cheesy sci-fi style.

There's a reason why this isn't a retail title, but that doesn't stop us from coveting the Club Nintendo system, and all of its weird merchandise and games. Where's our spandex, Nintendo? Where's our spandex?

FINALLY! After a year of waiting, Tingle's trusty UK fanbase will be appeased with the release of Freshly Picked - Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland on September 14.

Originally released in Japan in September 2006, Freshly Picked is a unique action RPG that has Tingle traveling to various islands, solving puzzles and battling enemies all in the pursuit of rupees. Given the title character's poor standing with western audiences, we're as surprised as anyone that this Zelda spinoff is being localized for the English market, and didn't just stay in Japan as we all hoped thought it would.

Well before Tingle-mania reaches their shores, European DS owners will also be getting a handful of first-rate portable titles. Metroid Prime Pinball was just released this past week; Brain Age 2 will be landing on June 29 (well before the North American launch date); Elite Beat Agents is out on July 13th, and Pokémon Diamond and Pearl will be taking over the lives of British children on July 27.

Everyone's favorite fairy hanger-on (and Balloon Fight remake star) is headed to Europe. Nintendo announced that Freshly Picked: Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland will be released on September 19th. Since they're doing the localization anyway, maybe we can expect a US release for this? We want to visit Rosy Rupeeland too! It's basically a Zelda game. Why wouldn't Nintendo release this worldwide?

Courtesy of Club Nintendo in Japan, Siliconera recently got their hands on a copy of Tingle's Balloon Fight. Little more than just a DS version of the NES classic Balloon Fight, the game stretches the action across both screens, which makes the game easier, according to Siliconera. We'd give anything to come to that realization on our own!

The game offers wireless multiplayer for up to four players and also has "Balloon Trip," a side-scrolling gametype that charges players with dodging enemies on-screen and gathering loose rupees. The action stays constant, as the game keeps forcing Tingle to move with the action.

Apparently the latest EGM has Tingle listed for a release stateside later this year. Of course, we have a similar "registering" procedure at MyNintendo.com, but we rarely have anything to show for it ... we got a Metroid Prime 2 demo disc, once. Woo-hoo.

It turns out that platinum members (a status obtained by magically accruing four hundred points in a year) of Club Nintendo get to choose between two wonderful prizes: Tingle's Balloon Fight, for the DS, or a custom battery pack cover with your very own Mii imprinted on the back. Such a difficult decision! Whilst they ponder, perhaps we may spirit away these prizes in the night. Who's in?

I'm surprised that a port of a port of an old NES game did so well, but the Japanese sure do love their Tales games. IGN wasn't too fond of the game, saying there aren't enough improvements in the game to make it a worthwhile port. And when you consider that the amazing-looking Tales of the World is heading to the PSP soon, I'm surprised by the strong sales of this game. Well, at least it beat the new Tingle RPG which I may or may not have imported. Check after the cut to see some videos from Tales of Phantasia in action.

Don't worry, we wouldn't want you to get fired from work, where we're sure you sit at your comfy desk clicking on the refresh button to get all the latest bits of news as they're posted. It's OK, we used to do the same thing before we became indentured servants worked here. And while we can say that Tingle himself performs no gay acts in the embedded video, we cannot say as much for the NPCs he surrounds himself with. Don't worry though, it's definitely safe to view while at work.

Let's face it, Tingle isn't exactly a normal guy. So when he gets his very own game, it's only fitting that someone step up with a review to match the man-fairy. Wired's Chris Kohler took up the challenge with his recent impressions of Tingle's Freshly-Picked Rose-Colored Rupee Land -- or is it Freshly-Pickled -- whatever, that Tingle RPG.

The thrust of which is that you, as brightly-colored Tingle, need to collect a veritable peck of rupees in order to climb that stairway to Rupee Land, a heaven filled with good food, good times, and good women.

Yeah, Tingle. With the women.

But all questions of beards aside (though Tingle's is mighty fine), Kohler offers a nice breakdown of the game and a lot of jokes at our sassily dressed hero's expense. But beware of spoilers, as he's pretty blunt about how things go in the first dungeon.

Mogitate Tingle no Barairo Rupee Land is now out in Japan. We wonder if importing it would make the game any more or less strange.

In the latest snippet of footage for Tingle's upcoming DS game, it's evident just how obsessed with rupees the little guy is. The trailer shows Tingle gallivanting around various environments, chatting it up with some of the game's NPCs, and almost having a seizure when given a large stack of rupees.

Yes, ladies and gentleman, everyone's favorite fairy-elf guy Tingle is starring in his own RPG. Not a whole lot has been said about this game, but we do occasionally get a few nice screenshots to look over and wonder what this game is all about.

So far, we know that you play as Tingle before his prime days of a treasure-obsessed occasional appearance in Wind Waker and Majora's Mask.

In the game, he is on his way to a spring when Old Man Rupee convinces him that happiness rests in rupees and throwing them into springs.

Judging from the photos it appears that tight green head-to-toe spandex has always been a Tingle thing.

Tingle's Pink-colored Rupee LandNintendo has launched the official website (in Japanese) for the upcoming Zelda spinoff, Tingle's Pink-colored Rupee Land, an RPG for DS. Say it with us: Tingle's. Pink-colored. Rupee. Land.

Recently, GameSpot shed some light on the title, referring to the game by its Japanese name 'Mogitate Tingle no Barairo Happy Land,' or literally, "A Fresh Tingle's Rose-Colored Happy Land":

"[The] game's plot apparently follows an average middle-aged guy ... [who] finds himself mixed up in a sort of wager. An old man named Rupee-ji ... invites our hero to collect the familiar currency of Hyrule and toss it into the spring. As a result, he opens up a path to the 'Happy Land,' a paradise where wine, women, and song are in ample supply. As soon as he agrees to give it a try, the protagonist is transformed and appears wearing the familiar Tingle outfit."

Playing like an old-fashioned point-and-click adventure game, Tingle can interact with several of the items, and people, in his environment. The session is fairly brisk, but you can get an idea for how you would progress in the game, which appears to happen through Tingle gathering more rupees by performing tasks such as cooking.

I don't know about you guys, but that little dance that Tingle does is mesmerizing. I need to make an animated .gif of that with the quickness!

By way of the 4cr, we're presented with screens for what is being called Mogitate Tingle no Barairo Rupee Land, or to us English-speaking folk, Freshly-picked Tingle's Pink-colored Rupee Land. We're not exactly sure what that is supposed to mean.

The only thing we know about the game so far is that it follows Tingle from the days of his youth and through his travels, he meets a rupee-headed old man and woman who looks like she could of been one of the background dancers in an old Madonna music video.

Sorry about being late on this, I had a gaseous expenditure of the cerebral cortex. It was a close week, but only one comic can win* -- Dueling Analogs and their topical strip about Link being voted "hottest male video game character" by Out magazine. 2nd place went to Concerned and 3rd is owned by Extra Life.

Honorable mention (as we forgot to include them -- not that it seemed to matter) goes to Penny Arcade. Thanks to everyone who voted, and be sure to let us know (via comments below, preferably) of any game-related webcomics you stumble upon this week!

* - unless in the unlikely situation that two winning comics win the exact same number of votes ... and that would be seriously cool.
