This week we take a look at the latest puzzle offering <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tiqal"><em>TiQal</em></a>. That's not too surprising. After all, we do it for every new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/XBLA/">XBLA</a> release. What is surprising: <em>TiQal</em> is actually a pretty decent puzzle game. For 800 Microsoft points, you can experience everything <em>TiQal </em>has to offer including 120 levels of funnery, single and multiplayer gameplay and "loads of excitement". We've even been told <em>TiQal </em>has the potential to give your life a meaning and cure gout. You know what? Go ahead and toss everything you thought you knew about the collapse of classic Mayan civilization right out the window. Enter <em>TiQal</em>, Slapdash Games' startling new discovery of the catalyst that sparked the deterioration of the once thriving southern lowlands cities of Mesoamerica. <em>Blocks, people.</em> It was those darned, colorful blocks. Relive the puzzling mystery (with a friend, if you'd like) -- and try to rewrite history -- this Wednesday, as <em>TiQal</em> comes to Xbox Live Arcade for 800 Microsoft Points.<br /><br />Not a pre-Columbian culture buff? Well, have we got a special announcement for you! <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/switchball"><em>Switchball</em></a> returns to XBLA with a little spit shine. The once glimmering sphere just got ... <em>shinier</em> with "enhanced" graphics and higher high-scores! This incredible, one-time update is free for previous purchasers and just 800 Microsoft Points (full game included) for first-time ballers. <em>Incredible!</em><br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tiqal/">TiQal</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tiqal/#717377"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/tiqal-xbla-037_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tiqal/#717376"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/tiqal-xbla-020_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tiqal/#717375"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/tiqal-xbla-017_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tiqal/#717374"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/tiqal-xbla-010_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tiqal/#717373"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/tiqal-xbla-006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/switchball/">Switchball</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/switchball/#717404"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/switchball-xbla-021_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/switchball/#717403"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/switchball-xbla-006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/switchball/#717402"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/switchball-xbla-005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/switchball/#717401"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/switchball-xbla-003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/switchball/#717400"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/switchball-xbla-013_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/24/this-wednesday-tiqal-blazes-xbla-switchball-re-released/">This Wednesday: TiQal blazes XBLA, Switchball re-released</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Mar 2008 16:35:00 EST. Since we don't have a clue what <em>TiQal </em>is, we're going to go off the information found on <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/t/tiqalxboxlivearcade/">Xbox.com</a>, so let's get learned together. <em>TiQal </em>is "loads of excitement," and also it promises to be both "fun and challenging." Wait, what? Well what kind of a game is it?!<br style="font-size: 18px;" /><br style="font-size: 18px;" /><em>TiQal </em>is a puzzle game, reminiscent of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tetris">Tetris</a> </em>with a <em>Zuma</em> aesthetic with 100 levels, special power-ups and can bring dogs back to life. We got this info from Wikipedia, so some of it could be wrong - there are actually 120 levels. <em>TiQal </em>will hit this Wednesday for 800 MS points.<br style="font-size: 18px;" /><br style="font-size: 18px;" />
<br style="font-size: 18px;" /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/24/tiqal-hits-xbla-this-wednesday/">TiQal hits XBLA this Wednesday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Mar 2008 12:45:00 EST. And perhaps, like us, you realize (before it's too late) that these impractical desires are best expressed in video games such as Sierra Online's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/AssaultHeroes/">Assault Heroes</a></em> or id Software's iconic <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Doom/">Doom</a></em>. It's certainly a lot cheaper.<br />
<br />
In fact, the two aforementioned games will be added to Xbox Live's <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/arcadehits/">Arcade Hits</a> program this Wednesday, March 19th, resulting in a 50% discount to 400 MS Points ($5) each. As Microsoft is keen to point out in the same press release, your determined point pinching may just come in handy for a lineup of new titles due to arrive on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla">Xbox Live Arcade</a> "in the near future:"<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/17/assault-heroes-doom-become-5-xbla-hits/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Doom, Assault Heroes become $5 XBLA Hits</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/17/assault-heroes-doom-become-5-xbla-hits/">Doom, Assault Heroes become $5 XBLA Hits</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Mar 2008 17:15:00 EST. Among the games listed in their "coming soon" checklist are <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rocky-and-bullwinkle">Rocky and Bullwinkle</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/shotest-shogi">Shotest Shogi</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tiqal">TiQal</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wits-and-wagers">Wits &amp; Wagers</a></em> and Capcom's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/commando-3">Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3</a></em>. So, you can pretty much choose one or two of those for an XBLA release next week. We're also giving you permission to uncontrollably complain if none of those five titles tickles your Arcade fancy. On the same token, feel free to uncontrollably praise the games if you're excited for a specific title.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/17/list-of-xbla-games-that-are-headed-our-way/">List of XBLA games that are headed our way</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Mar 2008 15:45:00 EST.
