We can't tell you how much of a relief this trailer is. Finally, someone in Hollywood has the vision to make a Resident Evil movie that actually resembles the video games, and it looks to be an action-packed gore fest to rival Liam Neeson's latest - wait, what? This is a trailer for Resident Evil 6, the video game, and not a high-budget action-drama flick? Huh.

Well, if you can't have a movie like the game, might as well make the game more like a movie. The above trailer comes directly from the Tokyo Game Show, where it was shown exclusively at Capcom's booth. That must have been intense.

Are you ready for another batch of Super Joystiq Podcast specials? You had better be, because we have the Tokyo Game Show all hooked up.

The actual show doesn't start until tomorrow, but Richard and Jordan are already on-site getting ready for the killer coverage. This one is all about Akihabara, Gundam cafes, Japan's "Best Buy," and retro games galore.

The action RPG will feature mixed-system ad hoc multiplayer (we're still trying to confirm online capabilities) and the same content across both versions, though the PlayStation Vita will enable superior graphics. God Eater 2 is expected in Japan sometime during 2013. The previous game, dubbed God Eater Burst in America and Europe, was released in 2011.

(Don't worry, he's still better off than the guy with the watermelon stand in a car chase.)

As of November 15th, checkered retail shelves in Japan will have to make way for the Vita's "Cosmic Red" and "Sapphire Blue" models. In the meantime, we'll be sure to let you know if we hear about this pair coming to the US or Europe.

"This year, Xbox will be focusing on smaller, more localized promotions and experiences for press, partners, retailers and customers around the world," Microsoft director of programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb said on his blog this morning.

As a result of that "smaller, more localized" marketing focus, Microsoft's wares "won't be taking part in Gamescom or Tokyo Games Show this year." Hryb noted that "both are still important shows for the industry, and we do wish the organizers well." Microsoft is the second of the big three console manufacturers to bow out of Gamescom, with Nintendo announcing as much earlier this year. Microsoft also attended its last Consumer Electronics Show this past January, signaling to many that the company was turning to Apple-style one-off press events.

The Kirkland, Washington-based publisher showed off Halo 4 and "Smart Glass" as major components of its E3 2012 press conference. The company is apparently confident enough in its already announced holiday lineup to skip the largest public game show on the planet.
