You can now <a href="http://store.valvesoftware.com/product.php?i=S0408">buy a Balloonicorn Plushie</a> straight from Valve's official <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/team-fortress-2"><em>Team Fortress 2</em></a> store. The cute pink union of a balloon and a unicorn is 14.5 inches from horntip to tail and comes with a code for a genuine Balloonicorn in-game item, for $24.99.<br />
<br />
The Balloonicorn serves as the "Municipal Ombudsman" of Pyroland, which is <a href="http://www.teamfortress.com/classes.php?class=pyro#movie">the cute and creepy world</a> as seen through the Pyro's eyes. Like the best things in life, it's adorable yet horrifying.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/07/valve-now-selling-a-balloonicorn-plushie-with-in-game-code/">Valve now selling a Balloonicorn plushie, with in-game code</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 May 2013 03:00:00 EST. In fact, we'd go so far as to say that the little guy has <em>appreciated</em> in cuteness since then, and will continue to do so.<br /><br />Case in point, this 10-inch tall stuffed version of Josef, which is now <a href="http://amanita-design.net/store/robot-josef.html">available for pre-order</a> from developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/amanita-design">Amanita Design</a>. The toy is hand-made in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipn%C3%ADk_nad_Be%C4%8Dvou">Lipn&iacute;k nad Bečvou</a> and costs $30, including shipping. You can even store useful items you find around the real world inside of Josef's robot body, just like in <em>Machinarium</em>. In fact, we doubt any decorating show currently broadcast today would recommend these new life-sized inflatable Portal turrets from <a href="http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/collectibles/ecca/">Think Geek</a>, even though they're <em>clearly the coolest</em>.<br /><br />At $24.99 a pop, these 40-inch replicas can add a touch of sophistication to literally any room in your house, provided said room isn't located in the vacuum of space -- these are inflatable, after all. Best of all, these helpful sentries aren't produced in limited quantities like some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/19/portal-gun-arrives-at-think-geek-goes-on-sale-mid-may/"><em>other</em></a> Portal merchandise we've seen lately, which means your only decorating limitation is the depth of your wallet. Remember, nothing says class like the incredibly specific smell of inflatable plastic toys.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/21/life-size-inflatable-portal-turrets-the-secret-to-a-sophisticat/">Life-size inflatable Portal turrets: the secret to a sophisticated home</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Mar 2012 16:15:00 EST. You know who we'd like to see featured in the hit television program Dirty Jobs? The guy who's responsible for making this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/left-4-dead"><em>Left 4 Dead</em></a> Boomer action figure. Just think: Some poor soul at <a href="http://necaonline.com/33120/blog/news-and-announcements/valves-left-4-dead-boomer-1st-full-color-pic-out/">NECA</a> not only had to mold this fully articulated, pustule-covered monster -- they had to paint on his every blemish, scab and scar. There is no amount of money high enough to merit such attention to nastiness.<br />
<br />
We won't be able to get our hands on this figure (and others from the zombie-centric hit) until next Spring, but you can be sure that when we do, our hands will be safely enveloped by gloves. Check him out in all his oozing glory after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/16/left-4-deads-boomer-action-figure-is-pretty-gnarly/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Left 4 Dead's Boomer action figure is pretty gnarly</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/16/left-4-deads-boomer-action-figure-is-pretty-gnarly/">Left 4 Dead's Boomer action figure is pretty gnarly</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Dec 2011 18:20:00 EST. <em>Augmented reality dragons</em>. Have you ever heard such a completely radical combination of words in your entire life? Activision and developer Toys for Bob are banking on the novelty of that concept to make their recently announced franchise reboot, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/skylanders-spyros-adventure">Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure</a></em>, a hit. Here's the pitch: The game includes a "Portal" mat, upon which players can place one of over 30 toys modeled after characters, including the titular dragon. This drops the character into the game, where its unique set of skills helps the player ... you know, do platform-y stuff.<br />
<br />
Though it sounds like a lot of love is going into the actual game -- with a script penned by the writers of <em>Toy Story</em> and a score composed by Hans Zimmer -- the toys actually seem to be the focal point. Each figure includes some sort of internal memory, which saves the experience, gold and improved skills of their in-game counterparts. From there, players can drop their toys on other players' Portals to use their customized characters in one of the game's cooperative or competitive modes. Oh, and to make these little guys even more collectible, each toy adheres to an element (fire, water, earth, etc.), augmenting its abilities and giving it access to exclusive areas of the game.<br />
<br />
<em>Skylanders</em> is set to launch this fall for $70, which nets you the game itself, a Portal mat, three toys and some trading cards. No platforms have been announced, though the game was demonstrated on Wii during its debut presentation at the 2011 American International Toy Fair today (that's right -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/09/activision-to-reveal-innovative-new-universe-integrating-games/">mystery</a> solved).<br />
<br />
Man, if we were 12 again, we'd go absolutely nuts for these things. Heck, even in our jaded mid-20s, we're having a difficult time tempering our excitement. Check out the galleries below for a look at the game and its importable statuettes.<br />

Well, science, you've <em>really</em> done it this time. We've had to tighten our belts to notches unknown in light of these tough economic times, but we won't be able to resist importing Tomy's Japanese line of <a href="http://www.newlaunches.com/archives/tomys_mario_kart_shoots_shells_and_bananas_at_other_karts.php"><em>Mario Kart</em> remote-controlled cars</a>. Now, this isn't exactly a <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Mario-Brother-Remote-Control/dp/B000EJM410">brand new idea</a>, but Tomy's toys don't just drive around -- they also use power-ups and shoot virtual shells and bananas at one another.<br />
<br />
Racers get periodic power-ups, which appear on an LED display on the controller. Each car comes equipped with infrared sensors capable of detecting when they've been hit with a weapon, which causes them to rumble and slow down. Each car will run you 2730 yen (around $30), but your makeshift replica of Bowser's Castle Circuit could cost around $600, depending on how much you invest in the pyrotechnics.<br />

If you're attempting to ween your teenage offspring off their collection of stuffed animals, we suggest investing in a line of plushies which are capable of scaring them out of their adorable addiction. Valve is releasing a set of five <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/left-4-dead"><em>Left 4 Dead</em></a> plush toys which should suit your needs quite well, the first of which -- based on the digestivally challenged "Boomer" special infected -- <a href="http://store.valvesoftware.com/productshowcase/productshowcase_L4D2-BoomerPlush.html">is currently available</a> on Valve's online store for $49.99.<br />
<br />
That price is a tad steep, though each toy comes with a sound chip that can emit ten of the Boomer's in-game grunts and belches. Just think of it like a premium you're paying to really place your child's psyche deep within <em>the nightmare zone</em>.<br />

Sony continues to use its new <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/07/22/lots-of-uncharted-2-among-thieves-at-comic-con/">licensing partnerships</a> to <em>interesting</em> effect. The company has partnered up with ESC-Toys to create Nathan Drake vinyl toys. The freaky interpretations of the <em>Uncharted</em> hero are designed by none other than ESC-Toy's founder, Erick Scarecrow. (Clearly, he takes his namesake quite seriously.)<br /><br />We're not too keen on the design, but we're sure collectors will still go ga-ga over this somewhat-terrifying <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Voorhees">Jason</a>-inspired toy. The toys will be released this Fall, just in time for <em>Uncharted 2</em> and will be limited to 2500 pieces worldwide.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/do-you-want-this-freaky-toy-nathan-drake/">Do you want this freaky toy Nathan Drake?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Jul 2009 12:00:00 EST. Oh, sure. We know the term "foot-tall Wesker" contains limitless potential for innuendo, but we beseech you to fight your immature urges while answering the question posited in this post's headline. The 12" <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Resident-Evil/">Resident Evil</a></em> villain in question is <a href="http://toynewsi.com/index.php?itemid=14501">an extremely detailed action figure</a> from Hong Kong toy producers Hot Toys (check out a full-size render of the toy after the jump). You may have seen their Sheva and Chris models as well, though we find they lack Wesker's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanilla_Ice">Rob Van Winkle-esque</a> <em>je ne sais quoi</em>.<br /><br />So, seriously. What would you do with a foot-tall Wesker? Use him as a doorstop? A paperweight? Plant him near your cabbage garden to scare away rabbits? The possibilities are <em>endless</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://kotaku.com/5265647/albert-wesker-stands-12-tall">Kotaku</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/25/what-would-you-do-with-a-foot-tall-wesker/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>What would you do with a foot-tall Wesker?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/25/what-would-you-do-with-a-foot-tall-wesker/">What would you do with a foot-tall Wesker?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 May 2009 21:00:00 EST. You know you're old when there's a whole phenomenon sweeping the world that you've never heard about. Just like Tamagotchi, Pok&eacute;mon and countless amounts of Pogs that have come before it, the latest collectible gaming craze aimed at the elementary school is <a href="http://www.bakugan.com/">Bakugan</a>, where you do battle on cards with balls. That's right, balls. Apparently more than 55 million of these suckers have been sold already and it won Toy of the Year last year. Blink!<br /><br />Activision is readying a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/24/activision-spinning-bakugan-off-into-game-series/">video game version</a> for the Wii and DS later this year, and we've got some of the first screens from the ball-rolling battler. There's actually a neat little mechanic in the real version, featuring magnets that cause your ball to pop open into a little fighting creature or robot when you roll it over one of the cards. Check out the full gallery below and try to avoid making any ball-related jokes. We know, it's nigh impossible.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bakugan-wii-and-ds/">Bakugan (Wii and DS)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bakugan-wii-and-ds/#2001662"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/bakugan_wii_screenshot_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bakugan-wii-and-ds/#2001661"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/bakugan_wii_screenshot_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bakugan-wii-and-ds/#2001660"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/bakugan_ds_screen_5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bakugan-wii-and-ds/#2001659"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/bakugan_ds_screen_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bakugan-wii-and-ds/#2001658"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/bakugan_ds_screen_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/07/bakugan-battle-brawlers-screens-roll-out-for-wii-and-ds/">Bakugan: Battle Brawlers screens roll out for Wii and DS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 May 2009 19:00:00 EST. Are you ready for something "ridiculously awesome"? Reader Brett P. was shopping at a local Toys R Us when he spotted Tech Deck Dude's Serpent of Doom Action Set. Over four feet long, this toy features a rather familiar character riding a skateboard. The dual blades, goatee and red tattoo are distinctly Kratos-like, don't you think?<br /><br />The toy launches pseudo-Kratos across a gap, featuring a large biting serpent. "Don't get caught!" We're not sure how well bootleg Kratos would fare in a fight against the serpent, but we know the PlayStation original would use a few QTEs and shred the beast in half.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tech-deck-dudes-serpent-of-doom-action-set/">Tech Deck Dude's Serpent of Doom Action Set</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tech-deck-dudes-serpent-of-doom-action-set/#1434944"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/playstation.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/bootlegtoy-gow_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tech-deck-dudes-serpent-of-doom-action-set/#1434943"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/playstation.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/bootlegtoy-gow_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/tech-deck-dudes-serpent-of-doom-action-set/#1434942"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/playstation.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/bootlegtoy-gow_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/16/toys-r-us-action-set-features-bootleg-kratos/">Toys R Us action set features bootleg Kratos</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Mar 2009 23:00:00 EST. We would think so, considering that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wii-music"><em>Wii Music</em></a> is less of a game, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/16/e308-live-highlights-from-nintendos-private-conference/">more of a toy</a>, which makes it <em>better than a game</em>. Sorry for being so cynical, but come on, you <em>have </em>to be feeling the same way we do. But, onto the news at hand. Nintendo thinks <em>Wii Music</em> won't be competing with other music titles such as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rock-band"><em>Rock Band</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-world-tour"><em>Guitar Hero</em></a>.<br /><br />Denise Kaigler, VP of Corporate Affairs at Nintendo of America, says "We're not competing [with those other games]. We're expanding. We're creating new experiences through <em>Wii Music</em>, new enriching opportunities for consumers to create something that's unique to their own musical tastes." Interesting, considering that all of these games generally fall into the same genre. But, the audience that would be receptive to <em>Guitar Hero</em> and <em>Rock Band</em> possibly could be different to that of the <em>Wii Music</em> crowd. It's kind of like a descending scale, from <em>real</em> musicians, to fake musicians (those would be the <em>Rock Band </em>and <em>Guitar Hero </em>crowds), and right down to people who like to play with toys. It seems the glorious <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/03/kart-this-cake-to-your-wedding/">baked treat</a> that Peach offered Mario at the end of his arduous <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/super-mario-64/">Nintendo 64</a> adventure is long gone. She dumped his podgy butt in the moat and ate it all for herself, and seemingly continued to enjoy royalty snacks for some time afterwards. Peach has plumped up, and now you can <em>buy</em> her!<br /><br />This <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/7-NINTENDO-SUPER-MARIO-BROS-Princess-Peach-Plush-Doll_W0QQitemZ180266326619QQihZ008QQcategoryZ348QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem">eBay auction</a> comes down to a matter of preference. Do you prefer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mario-super-sluggers/923170/">slim, active Peach</a> or hedonistic, pampered royalty Peach? Let you wallet do the talking. The idea of a plus-sized princess is actually pretty interesting. Someone should totally make a game out of it, although we're sure it'll <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/07/18/impressions-fat-princess/"><em>never</em> happen</a>.<br /><br />[Thanks, Alejandro!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/20/peach-ate-marios-cake/">Peach ate Mario's cake</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 20 Jul 2008 16:00:00 EST. <em>Secret Agent Clank</em> figurines are currently available for those who pre-order the game at GameStop. A post by Sony America producer Frank Simon on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/05/27/secret-agent-clank-bonus-pre-order-figurine/">PlayStation Blog</a> says that the toy will be available with pre-order -- dramatic pause -- "while supplies last." We don't know much about this "Mini Car Candy Toy" set being sold at Play-Asia. All we know is that it's the <span style="font-style: italic;">Official</span> Pokemon Mini Car Candy Toy, meaning all the others you've owned before this point were just crap.<br /><br />We're also not sure which part of these toys are edible. Is it the cars themselves, or is there candy <span style="font-style: italic;">inside</span> the cars? Either way, we want them. The only time we love sweets more than usual is when Pikachu is involved. The candy is also available in Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">flavors</span> mini cars for your enjoyment.<br /><br />While it might be expensive for what it is, you really can't complain about the $4 price tag too much. We're still confused about these things, but we're going to assume that they're a must-have for die-hard Pokemon fans.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://nintendo-ds.dcemu.co.uk/diamond-amp-pearl-pokemon-mini-car-candy-toy-92060.html">DCEmu</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/19/pokemon-candy-nom-nom/">Pokemon candy, nom nom!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Feb 2008 22:32:00 EST. How to subtly work in gaming influences on the spawnling without pushing a love for things like sprites, whips, and black mages <em>too</em> hard? Trust Square Enix to find a way to make that a little bit easier with this <a href="http://mgrsti3030s.seamlesstech.biz/templates/frmTemplateR.asp?CatalogID=14764&amp;SearchYN=N&amp;subFolderID=165">completely adorable rubber ducky</a> that is not, in fact, a duck at all -- but rather, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/12/ds-fanboy-review-final-fantasy-fables-chocobo-tales/">chocobo</a>. Not just any old chocobo, either, but a fat little baby chocobo that is just perfect for fat little baby hands. <br /><br />The chocobos, which release in April, are a little costly for a bath toy at $13.50 apiece, but it may be worth the premium to snag the perfect tub companion. You can bet there's going to be one in <em>this</em> house.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/21/rubber-chocobo-youre-the-one/">Rubber chocobo, you're the one</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Jan 2008 22:30:00 EST. But let's move on from those nasty reviewers, shall we?<br /><br />If we can put aside pesky written words for a minute, we'd like to show you a commercial for the new game that is sure to grab your attention. It's bright, colorful and full of tangible happiness. We even have our staple J-Pop soundtrack blasting in the background! But if that won't convince you to buy the game -- and how could it not?! -- we'd also like to let you know that you can get the most adorable <em>NiGHTS</em> toy with the game, which is sure to remind you of even the best years for the franchise.<br /><br />Video embedded after the break. Luckily for us and our itchy "have to buy it, can't resist" fingers, this $90 toy is out of stock. The only disappointing thing about the track is that you can't choose which characters you want (it automatically comes with Mario and Wario), but overall it's probably a nice gift for anyone into video games and slot-car racing.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=31092">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/08/mario-kart-go-makes-us-want-to-go-broke/">Mario Kart Go! makes us want to go broke</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 08 Dec 2007 22:27:00 EST. It's time to get away from the body in our special week-long presentation of Show and Tell, and get into something <em>fun</em>. Being a dedicated <em>Zelda</em> fan isn't just about clothes and tattoos -- it's about what you do with the rest of your existence. This means toys, electronics, and even art can hold up your love as a banner for the world to see, and that's what we're looking at in today's edition. Jaunt on past the break to see what what we mean. <br /><br />Do you have some awesome <em>Zelda</em> gear? Anything from t-shirts to tattoos, to statues and standees, if it features Link, we want to help you show it off. Snap some pics and send 'em to <strong>showmeit <strong>[at]</strong> dsfanboy [dot] com</strong>. If we don't get to your stuff this week, we can always show you off in a later edition!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/04/show-and-tell-zelda-week-day-four/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Show and Tell: Zelda week, day four</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/04/show-and-tell-zelda-week-day-four/">Show and Tell: Zelda week, day four</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 04 Oct 2007 15:50:00 EST. Famitsu's got some <em>much</em> clearer screens of Arc System Works and Sonic Powered's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/01/heres-your-chance-at-a-private-wii-helicopter/">Petit Copter</a>,</em> and it looks great! But we <em>love</em> the aesthetic of Dreamcast games. Those of you expecting next-gen may be less enthused about the visuals. We're pretty sure, for example, that those rings are supposed to be <em>ring-shaped.</em><br /><br />As low-key as the graphics may be, we think the mission types are even more so. The article reveals three kinds of missions:<br />
<ol>
    <li>Taking off, flying somewhere, and landing</li>
    <li>Picking up something with a suction cup and dropping it off</li>
    <li>Shooting at some targets with a puff of air</li>
</ol>
Combined, these three activities could make for some really interesting missions! Alone ... no. Outside of tutorial missions, we have to believe they'll mix it up. The article mentions shooting at switches to manipulate things in the level, which sounds like it opens up all kinds of missions around the house!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/06/petit-missions-in-petit-copter/">Petit missions in Petit Copter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Aug 2007 14:15:00 EST. Y'know, just for <em>kicks</em>. Don't worry, folks -- soon you'll be able to do just that. In Japan, that is, but perhaps the <em>Petit Copter</em> simulation will make its way to English-speaking gamers as well. <br /><br />Arc System Works, the force behind the minicopter, also announced <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/01/super-dodge-ball-ds-beans-you-in-the-face/">Super Dodge Ball DS</a></em> recently. If the name <em>Petit Copter</em> seems familiar, it's because it's an existing franchise; it seems Arc System Works is taking over publishing duties on the Aquasystem-developed <span style="font-style: italic;"></span>games that have turned up on Xbox, PC, and PS2. Let's hope that means there's a slightly increased chance of a non-Japanese release in the future for this one! Head past the break to check out a couple of scans that are much, much bigger than the tiniest of toy helicopters.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/01/heres-your-chance-at-a-private-wii-helicopter/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Here's your chance at a private (Wii) helicopter</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/01/heres-your-chance-at-a-private-wii-helicopter/">Here's your chance at a private (Wii) helicopter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Aug 2007 15:50:00 EST. Now all we need is a Covenant Elite costume and we'd be all set for Halloween. The guns even come with an "overheat" where the sides pop open to give them just that little extra bit of authenticity. The rifle is $120 and the pistol is $89, they'll be available in October.<br /><br />These weapons are full-size replicas, not like the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/20/halo-3-replica-mini-weapons/">mini versions</a> being created by Master Replicas -- but that's probably why they cost between four and eight times more. It's ashamed.<br /><br />If you care about your couch at all, you'll buy one of these <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Mario/">Mario</a> or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Luigi/">Luigi</a> hat cushions from NCSX. It's the least you can do, considering what you do to it all day. You know, the <em>sitting.<br /><br /></em>Alternately, you could buy one of these plush toys for decoration. That would be pretty weird, though, right? <br /><br />Also in today's NCSX update: awesome <a href="http://www.ncsx.com/2007/043007/bomberman_tee.htm"><em>Bomberman </em>t-shirts</a> and <a href="http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/44101.html">cell phone straps</a>, <a href="http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/SQEX-CC0.html">Chocobo cushions</a>, and even <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/15/more-animal-crossing-stuff-to-fill-your-house-with/">more</a> <a href="http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/BND-ACWF.html"><em>Animal Crossing </em>toys</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/04/haberdashery-for-your-couch/">Haberdashery for your couch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 May 2007 18:00:00 EST. The new knickknacks don't look like they're anything to fawn over, but that miniaturized and muddied <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/excitetruck"><em>Excite Truck</em></a> might make a nice addition to your collection of <em>Micro Machines</em> and <em>Hot Wheels</em> racers. <br /><br />Truthfully, we've never been partial to the restaurant's square-shaped burger patties or its bland french fries. Wendy's chicken nuggets, however, are like the real-world equivalent to Narnia's turkish delight. Families have been betrayed and wars have been set into motion over these bits of meat. The fact that we can get a pocket-sized Wii <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/remote">remote</a> with these nuggets pretty much settles our schedule for where we're eating lunch at when this promotion goes into effect.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.infendo.com/2007/04/wendys-wii-toys-wont-clog-arteries.html">Infendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/25/wii-toys-served-hot-off-the-grill/">Wii toys served hot off the grill</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Apr 2007 15:25:00 EST. They were brought here by <a href="http://www.myspace.com/necafans">NECA</a>, who wished to pay <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/castlevania"><em>Castlevania</em></a> tribute. <br /><br />Simon Belmont, hero of <em>Castlevanias I, II,</em> and <em>(Super) IV</em>, and Alucard, of <em>III, Symphony of the Night</em>, and (spoiler alert, sort of!) <em>Aria</em> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=dawn+of+sorrow"><em>Dawn of Sorrow</em></a>, are shown here in unpainted, prototype glory. The link below has more views of Simon, but all we have of Alucard is this one shot-- for which we had to put our biohazard suits on and go into <a href="http://www.myspace.com/necafans">Myspace</a>.<br /><br />They resemble the beefy character art of the first <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nes">NES</a> game more than <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayami_Kojima">Ayami Kojima</a>'s work, and Simon's stomach isn't something that should be looked at directly, but these are still awesome. We've been looking for some new decorative items, and these will do nicely. Our desks are as empty as our souls. Roommate leave the milk out again? Some jerk in an SUV cut you off on the way home? Don't waste your time with insults, rude hand gestures, or weak physical attacks. Instead, try eternal damnation! <a href="http://www.youaredamned.com/">YouAreDamned.com</a> makes damning souls for an eternity of flame-induced suffering easy! Just enter a name, e-mail address, and an optional path to salvation and your most hated enemies will be engraved upon the Burning Wall of Eternal Damnation. Afterwards, kick back and read the wall to learn why so many people deserve a spot in the stone.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/19/bored-and-vengeful-try-condemnation/">Bored and vengeful? NCSX is selling new playsets, each featuring an animal, two matching pieces of furniture, and a house. There are also two special sets containing characters like Wendell and Tom Nook, and, of course, some more furniture.<br /><br />NCSX is also stocking some <em>Animal Crossing</em> plush toys and coffee mugs. We are aware that <em>Animal Crossing</em> strongly promotes the collector mentality in-game, so we hope we haven't just emptied any fans' wallets by pointing this stuff out.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/15/more-animal-crossing-stuff-to-fill-your-house-with/">More Animal Crossing stuff to fill your house with</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 15 Apr 2007 12:00:00 EST. The lanky plumber already has enough problems dealing with his older brother always stealing the spotlight and Princess Daisy's failure to commit to a serious relationship, but now he has to worry about embarassing photos from 20 years ago resurfacing on the internet. We all have our fair share of unflattering pictures from the 80s, but the images posted for this vintage <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/supermariobros">Super Mario Bros.</a></em> doll auction are downright embarassing.

We <em>really </em>weren't fans of Mario's blue shell ability in <em>New Super Mario Bros.</em>, because it tended to steer us inexorably into a lava-filled grave. But we want to <em>hug</em> this plush <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/blue">Blue</a> Shell Mario. And then maybe toss him into lava.<br />
<br />
Play-Asia is selling these adorable <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nsmb">NSMB</a> toys, produced by Banpresto, for about $11 each. You have your choice of the aforementioned Mario, a Mega <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mushroom">Mushroom</a>, Boo, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/luigi">Luigi</a> (in casino minigame regalia) and Toad. Does anyone else find it odd that Luigi still wears his green hat, even when he's in formal attire?<br />

Since we're not sure when <em>Super Smash Bros. Brawl</em> is scheduled to assault us, it's hard to say with any certainty that the above Zero Suit Samus statue -- designed by the prolific folks at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/first4figures/">First4Figures</a> -- will be ready in time for its launch. With a Q3 '07 release date for the statue, it seems likely that you'll be able to have one before <em>Brawl</em> drops featuring the very same Zero Suit Samus as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Smash_Bros._Brawl#Samus_Aran">a playable character</a>. So, why all the concern about getting the statue first? We see it a couple different ways. First: what better way to reward the household's (world's?) reigning <em>Super Smash Bros.</em> champion than to bestow upon them a large (and, at $110, rather extravagant) statue? Oh, and second: you can always practice your moves by getting one of those <em>Metal Gear Solid 4</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/06/metal-gear-solid-4-snake/">Snake statues</a> and forcing them to fight to the death ... after making them kiss ... like you weren't thinking that anyways.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/first4figures-zero-suit-samus/">First4Figures Zero Suit Samus</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/first4figures-zero-suit-samus/#163213"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/02/first4figures-zerosuitsamus-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/first4figures-zero-suit-samus/#163214"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/02/first4figures-zerosuitsamus-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/first4figures-zero-suit-samus/#163212"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/02/first4figures-zerosuitsamus-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/19/metroid-zero-suit-samus-statue-requires-intense-scanning/">Metroid Zero Suit Samus statue -- requires intense scanning</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Feb 2007 17:12:00 EST. Standing at 12-inches tall, the figure is imbued with Medicom's RAH 301 technology, making Snake posable in a variety of realistic body stances. Art director Yoji Shinkawa oversaw production of the figure, which is scheduled to ship in November. There are two types; the simpler Trick Trainer Pups come with a magnetic bone that can be used to guide them through tricks. The more elaborate, aptly-named Interactive Play puppies do just that -- they interact by wagging their tails when they're stroked, howling when you howl, and some will even snarl and growl during a game of tug-of-war. Toss in a slipper-chewing feature and it's almost like having a real dog! <br /><br />The plushy pups debuted last week in the UK from retailer Tomy and through Amazon UK for 9.99 (about $20 USD) for the Trick Trainers and 24.99 for for the Interactive Play Pups. Check out the commercial after the jump. We just hope you don't have to play with them every day to keep them in line ... take the dogs out of the video game and there's no telling <em>what</em> they'll get up to.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/10/nintendogs-trainable-plushies/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nintendogs trainable plushies</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/10/nintendogs-trainable-plushies/">Nintendogs trainable plushies</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Nov 2006 07:45:00 EST. Imagine how <em>cool </em>you'll appear to your co-workers as they see you screaming "It's time for the Lance Vance Dance!" while playing with these figures. <a href="http://www.toytokyo.com/shopping/index.php/page/product/product_id/6919">They're available</a> for only $35, a real bargain considering how some of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/07/majoras-mask-fierce-deity-link-figurine/">my own most-wanted figures</a> cost much, much more.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://pspupdates.qj.net/Grab-your-GTA-Vice-City-Kubrick-Set-this-Fall/pg/49/aid/60922">QJ</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/07/play-gta-this-fall-in-toy-form/">Play GTA this fall... in toy form</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Aug 2006 09:55:00 EST. Sure, the latter is a much smaller group -- easily dwarfed by <em>Ocarina</em> fans waving its 40/40 score in <em>Famitsu</em> magazine ("the first game to do so," they helpfully remind you) -- but First 4 Figures sent word that <em>Majora's</em> Fierce Deity Link would be the first in their lineup of <em>Legend of Zelda</em> figurines, undoubtedly beating out the much anticipated <em>Ocarina</em> <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Ocarina_of_Time_characters#Ingo">Ingo</a> figurine. At 14.5" tall, and $130, this thing is collectors only, we're afraid. Wouldn't want you recreating the epic showdown with Majora and busting your sword, y'know?<br /><br /><strong>See also: </strong><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/10/colossal-figurine-at-1-150-scale/">Colossal figurine ... at 1/150 scale</a><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/06/16/collectible-metroid-statue-wheres-samus/">Collectible Metroid statue</a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/07/majoras-mask-fierce-deity-link-figurine/">Majora's Mask Fierce Deity Link figurine</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Aug 2006 08:57:00 EST. C.K. received his figurine and managed to throw 65 images onto his <a href="http://flickr.com/photos/cksample3/sets/72157594213204782/">Flickr account</a>. He writes:<br /><br /><em>"I designed a Spore creature while I was at E3, and the nice people at EA were kind enough to make it into a little 3-D figurine like the ones they had sitting around their booth and ship it to me. It has two heads, one bird-like and the other more like a moose, with large fighting arms."</em><br /><br />Three readers also tipped us off to three separate works discussing the future availability of mail-order <em>Spore</em> creatures. Clayton sent in a link to a <em>Discover Magazine</em> <a href="https://www.discover.com/issues/aug-06/features/willwright/">article</a> that reveals, <span id="article_text"><span>"In <em>Spore</em>, a player can animate any creature imaginable; for a fee, it can be made into a three-dimensional reality." For a fee, eh? <br /><br />Darius pointed us to <em>Next Generation</em>, who <a href="http://www.businessweek.com/innovate/content/jul2006/id20060720_289503.htm?campaign_id=bier_innlt0">speculate</a> "it is likely that a model-making service (which will probably require payment) will be available when the game appears." So don't be jealous. If the stars align just so, we'll all have our very own <em>Spore</em> figurines come Q2 2007.<br /><br />Matt noted the following paragraph while reading<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1401302378/103-0126554-3745457?v=glance&amp;n=283155">The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business Is Selling Less of More</a> by <em>Wired Magazine</em>'s Chris Anderson: "Will Wright, the legendary video-game designer, is putting the finishing touches on his next game, <em>Spore</em>. In it, you'll be able to evolve your own creature, imbuing it with traits and characteristics of your own design. If you like your work, you'll be able to upload your creation to the Spore servers. And then, for about $20, you can have it 3D printed onto a real action figure - colors, texture, and all. Each one is unique and will show up at your front door in a week or two." This is the first time we're seeing a price ... and $20 sounds reasonable to us. Does that include shipping, guys?<br /><br />[Thanks for the links, <a href="http://verveproductions.net">Clayton</a> and <a href="http://tinysubversions.blogspot.com/">Darius</a> ... and Matt!]<br /><br />[update 1: Added the bits from <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1401302378/103-0126554-3745457?v=glance&amp;n=283155"><em>The Long Tail</em></a>. And again when he got to see Robin Williams <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/11/joystiq-video-wired-spore-event-featuring-will-wright-and-robi/">crack jokes</a> while making his own creature at that <em>Wired</em> party.<br /><br />Well, our jealousy was rekindled when, after some months, Randall's friendly neighborhood UPS guy rang his bell to deliver a <em>Spore</em> figurine identical to the character he had designed at E3. They should definitely have a service so consumers can order their own custom figurine. More pics after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/26/our-one-of-a-kind-spore-figurine/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Our one of a kind Spore figurine</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/26/our-one-of-a-kind-spore-figurine/">Our one of a kind Spore figurine</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 26 Jul 2006 12:55:00 EST.
