Nintendo reports that over 5,000 Wii U demo stations are present in US retailers, including Target, Best Buy, Toys R Us, GameStop, and Walmart. To find your nearest Wii U demo station, search <a href="http:// http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu/events">here</a>.<br /><br />Chances are, however, you can just see your nearest one from your home, if they're all as enormous as the one pictured.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/05/wii-u-demo-kiosks-available-at-us-retailers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii U demo kiosks available at US retailers</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/05/wii-u-demo-kiosks-available-at-us-retailers/">Wii U demo kiosks available at US retailers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 Nov 2012 10:40:00 EST. The retailer has the exclusive rights to sell a limited edition 'Legendary' series of <em>Skylanders Giants</em> figurines with special in-game abilities. Toys R Us is also selling an exclusive three-pack featuring Jet Vac, Series 2 Slam Bam and Series 2 Ignitor - all of which have enhanced in-game powers.<br /><br />Though <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/18/skylanders-giants-review/">our own review</a> says it's possible to get through Skylanders Giants without buying any additional figures, it's probably not the most realistic expectation - especially if you've you have kids interested in the franchise. Toys R Us will be open early at 8am on Sunday for your <em>Skylanders Giants</em> purchasing needs.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/19/toys-r-us-exclusive-legendary-skylanders-giants-figures-altern/">Toys R Us exclusive: Legendary Skylanders Giants figures, alternate versions of others</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 19 Oct 2012 19:00:00 EST. The Rewards "R" Us system rewards buyers with points for each dollar spent online and in stores. Points no longer expire in the revised system, and there are no more exclusive periods of time (like holidays) where points cannot be earned.<br /><br />In the new program, every dollar spent on entertainment products (such as video games) is rewarded with one point. Members receive a $5 certificate every time they reach 500 points earned.<br /><br />To put that into perspective, rewards program members get $5 in "R"Us reward money for purchasing 17 Nintendo DS games at $30 apiece. Totally worth it, right?<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/28/toys-r-us-revamps-loyalty-rewards-program/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toys R Us revamps loyalty rewards program</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/28/toys-r-us-revamps-loyalty-rewards-program/">Toys R Us revamps loyalty rewards program</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 Jun 2012 06:00:00 EST. Black Friday may be long gone, but that's not stopping Toys R Us from offering some last minute Christmas doorbuster deals this weekend. This Friday through Sunday, customers will receive a $60 gift card with the purchase of an Xbox 360 Kinect console bundle. You can also snag a $25 gift card with the purchase of any two video games priced $29.99 or higher.<br />
<br />
Next week, from December 20 through 10pm on Christmas Eve (sorry Toys R Us employees!), the retailer will also offer a pair of deals on <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/skylanders-spyros-adventure"><em>Skylanders</em></a> and the 3DS.<br />
<br />
First up, those who purchase a 3DS (in-store only) will snag a $35 gift card. Second, purchasing the <em>Skylanders</em> starter pack will net customers a free 3DS game worth up to $39.99. It's worth noting that the offer is valid only for "select" 3DS titles, though the press release makes no mention of which titles are exempted. Regardless, there's potential for some serious holiday savings if either of these things are on your list.<br />
<br />
Just remember, once you buy <em>Skylanders</em>, you will <em>keep</em> buying <em>Skylanders</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/15/toys-r-us-offers-up-deals-on-xbox-360-3ds-skylanders/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toys R Us offers deals on Xbox 360, 3DS, Skylanders</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/15/toys-r-us-offers-up-deals-on-xbox-360-3ds-skylanders/">Toys R Us offers deals on Xbox 360, 3DS, Skylanders</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 Dec 2011 15:30:00 EST. The corporate brain trust at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/toys-r-us">Toys R Us</a> has discovered the ancient retail secret of Yuletide deals and rival Amazon is looking to match. Through December 10 (and until supplies last at Amazon), both retailers' entire stock of video games and video game accessories will be buy one, get one half-off. But if you're more for the bending parts and kung-fu grip, you'll have to stick with Toys R Us -- there are deals on Nerf guns, action figures and Lego stuff to consider.<br />
<br />
Something called Zhu Zhu Pets is also on sale at Goeffrey Giraffe's, though we're not really sure what that thing is. We'd Google it but, to be honest, the last time we did that it didn't end so well. We never really figured out how to turn the safe search on.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/05/toys-r-us-amazon-do-buy-one-get-one-half-off-on-all-video-games/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toys R Us, Amazon do buy one, get one half-off on all video games</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/05/toys-r-us-amazon-do-buy-one-get-one-half-off-on-all-video-games/">Toys R Us, Amazon do buy one, get one half-off on all video games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 Dec 2011 21:30:00 EST. If waking up at 5am in the morning this Friday to grab some of those deals on video games at Gamestop doesn't sound like your idea of a good time, then good news times two: One, you're completely sane. Second, GameStop is <a href="http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=130125&amp;p=irol-newsArticle&amp;ID=1633176&amp;highlight=">actually opening at 12:01am</a> on Thanksgiving night/Friday morning, so if you can wake yourself out of your turkey coma to go and buy some games, you can get all your shopping done before the moon even comes out.<br />
<br />
Best Buy is also <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Misc/Black-Friday-Cyber-Monday/pcmcat225600050002.c?id=pcmcat225600050002">opening up at 12am</a> on Friday morning for its doorbuster sale, as is Target, <a href="http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-500202_162-57329361/target-defends-black-friday-hours-amid-protest/">despite some protests from employees</a> and their families. Toys R Us is the real kicker, though: Its sales <a href="http://bfads.net/Ad/Toys-R-Us-2011">are starting at 9pm</a> on Thursday night, hardly enough time for the football games to even finish before the holiday sales begin.<br />
<br />
You can see all of the available deals on video games, online and offline, in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/18/black-friday-2011-video-game-deals/">our big, bad Black Friday deals</a> post for this year. If you do head out to buy some items right away at midnight, maybe offer to buy the employees you see there some doughnuts or coffee -- if they're out there all night, they'll probably need it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/23/retailers-opening-up-at-midnight-or-even-earlier-for-black-fri/">Retailers opening up at midnight (or even earlier) for Black Friday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Nov 2011 00:00:00 EST. Appealing to those of us who prefer not to risk physical harm in order to secure some sweet deals, Toys R Us has announced its plans for Cyber Monday (AKA the Monday following <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/black-friday-2011">Black Friday</a>) and the ensuing "Cyber Week." For starters, the retailer will actually begin its online discounts beginning on Sunday, November 27 at 6pm Eastern.<br />
<br />
There are only a handful of gaming deals, though they are fairly substantial. First up for grabs, a free game, controller or headset ($59.99 or less) with the purchase of a $300 4GB Xbox 360 Kinect bundle. Also, Toys R Us will offer a "buy one, get one 60 percent off" discount on "hundreds of video game titles," though the press release doesn't specify <em>which</em> titles are included. Finally, starting on Monday at 8am Eastern, those who pick up the $200 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/21/nintendos-mario-and-zelda-3ds-bundles-hit-the-us-november-24/">3DS Mario bundle</a> will get a free <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/skylanders-spyros-adventure"><em>Skylanders</em></a> starter pack (normally $70).<br />
<br />
As the "cyber" implies, these deals will only be available through ToysRUs.com, though store pick up is available on certain items. Shipping is also free on orders over $49.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/21/toys-r-us-cyber-monday-free-skylanders-with-mario-3ds-bundle/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toys R Us Cyber Monday: Free Skylanders with Mario 3DS bundle</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/21/toys-r-us-cyber-monday-free-skylanders-with-mario-3ds-bundle/">Toys R Us Cyber Monday: Free Skylanders with Mario 3DS bundle</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Nov 2011 14:40:00 EST. 'Tis the season to be <strike>stampede trampled</strike> <em>jolly</em>, apparently, despite the fact that we're still cleaning the toilet paper out of our trees and we haven't even begun trying to decide between potatoes and stuffing. As department stores across the nation begin decking their halls with boughs of various things, they also begin preparing their tired, broken staff for the onslaught of panicked, sleep-deprived consumer mayhem awaiting them on November 25.<br />
<br />
Toys R' Us, purveyor of battery/adult-assembly-requiring novelties since 1957, will be celebrating the fact that you've managed to survive another family gathering by offering buy-one-get-one-free deals on select DS and Wii titles, and buy-one-get-one-for-five-bucks deals on select console titles. They're also discounting the Kinect 360 bundle to $199, the Kinect itself to $99, and the PS3 to $199. Take a squint at the leaked flier <a href="http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/BlackFridayScans/ToysRUs/26">here</a> (and <a href="http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/BlackFridayScans/ToysRUs/27">here</a>) for specifics, and remember that great savings can be had as long as you're willing to sacrifice <strike>your humanity</strike> some shut-eye.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/12/toys-r-us-black-friday-deals-include-5-games-discounted-syst/">Toys R' Us' Black Friday deals include $5 games, discounted systems</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 12 Nov 2011 16:30:00 EST. Toys R' Us has quite the appealing offer for folks looking for a gaming console with an obscene amount of hard drive space. For an undisclosed amount of time, the 320GB PS3 is marked down to $249.99 at the giraffe-branded retailer.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/15/toys-r-us-offering-320gb-ps3-for-249/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toys R' Us offering 320GB PS3 for $249</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/15/toys-r-us-offering-320gb-ps3-for-249/">Toys R' Us offering 320GB PS3 for $249</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 Sep 2011 17:55:00 EST. Toys R Us has decided that <a href="http://www.toysrus.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=11958635&amp;pg=1"><em>all peripherals must go</em></a>, and in order to clear the shelves as quickly as possible, a ridiculous number of DJ Hero, Tony Hawk, and Guitar Hero bundles for all systems have been marked down to $9.99. If you've just got <em>too darn much</em> free space in your living room, make <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/20/peripheral-price-drop-madness-guitar-hero-dj-hero-and-tony-ha/#continued">the jump</a> for the full list of store-only mega-deals. We recommend getting a swift move on, however; even with these franchises functionally dead, we don't expect this stuff to hang around for long. <br />

For those of you who need a bribe in order to be pushed into a purchase of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/transformers-dark-of-the-moon"><em>Transformers: Dark of the Moon</em></a>, Activision has prepared its cornucopia of goodies, divided up by retailer and by console.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=tlx99deab&amp;et=1105430147621&amp;s=711&amp;e=001ZyDwZeRrPW82XLwhifg82bbhC1kMacVVVBq85--2Z46LUmgyMXqwHUFFiZGfYiX3h74ApoBvpKXpvuzrmTbFyLV8lXzc_kq9RxO5O4lVwnK6FT-6xmq32NNaa_YlD47o6_ZyMp_Tr2t2N9E3kFXZbNnR2bNuLtaMoCgQN3KF9N6S_9byLH-EWBrSo8IMAi1ppsTdOQ2F3dc=">GameStop pre-orders</a> for Xbox 360 and PS3 will get you a code to unlock Sideswipe, while <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-Dark-Moon-Xbox-360/dp/B004MXP600/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1304721274&amp;sr=8-4">Amazon</a> <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-Dark-Moon-Playstation-3/dp/B004MXQX66/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1304721317&amp;sr=8-1">pre-orders</a> get you Ratchet (and a $10 credit). But the Wii and DS games, pre-ordered anywhere, get you actual toys -- Bumblebee with the <em>Autobots</em> game, and Lockdown with the <em>Decepticons</em> version.<br />
<br />
Other bonuses announced by Activision include an in-game Bumblebee skin for the 3DS version at Toys R Us, in-game "Deco" character skins for the Wii and DS games at Target, and a, "original, limited edition Transformers: Dark of the Moon comic book" at Kmart and Sears, seemingly not tied to any particular version. <br />
<br />
Or you could pre-order from Best Buy and get a "free movie ticket upgrade to 3D." <em>Thrilling</em>.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/transformers-dark-of-the-moon-pre-order-bonuses/">Transformers: Dark of the Moon (Pre-order bonuses)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/transformers-dark-of-the-moon-pre-order-bonuses/#4115430"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/amazon---ratchetrobot_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/transformers-dark-of-the-moon-pre-order-bonuses/#4115431"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/gamestop---sideswiperobot_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/transformers-dark-of-the-moon-pre-order-bonuses/#4115432"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/target---bumblebeedeco_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/transformers-dark-of-the-moon-pre-order-bonuses/#4115433"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/target---lockdowndeco_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/06/transformers-dark-of-the-moon-pre-orders-include-virtual-and-ac/">Transformers: Dark of the Moon pre-orders include virtual and actual Transformers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 May 2011 23:04:00 EST. Are you the "cool" aunt or uncle? When Easter rolls around, do you like to drop iPods and Ray-Bans in the baskets of your nieces and nephews? If so, <a href="http://toysrus.shoplocal.com/ToysRus/default.aspx?action=entryflash&amp;promotioncode=ToysRus-110422&amp;DisplayPageNumber=1&amp;csm=198775606&amp;csc=1351237&amp;csa=198974044&amp;csu=1353880">Toys 'R' Us</a> has a nice deal running today and Saturday. The store is currently offering a buy one, get one half off sale on all video games, meaning you can pick up some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/20/portal-2-review/">new hotness</a> for yourself and save some money on <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/kinectimals"><em>Kinectimals</em></a> for little Suzy Anne.<br />
<br />
Keep in mind that the offer only applies to in-store purchases. We're sure that's fine though -- you probably needed to pick up some new Ray-Bans anyway.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/22/buy-one-get-one-half-off-at-toys-r-us-this-weekend/">Buy one, get one half off at Toys 'R' Us this weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Apr 2011 21:30:00 EST. If you're going to lay out $250 for a 3DS next week, we're guessing you <em>really</em> wouldn't mind hearing about a way to save money on games. On March 27, the day the system launches, Toys R Us will offer a "buy one, get one half off" deal on all 3DS games.<br />

In addition, if you're not quite sure about that 3DS yet, many <a href="http://Toysrus.com/3DSDemo">TRU locations</a> will feature 3DS demos from 12-3 PM on Sunday. The store is also offering up to $75 on trade-ins of DS hardware towards a 3DS, but getting rid of your DS is something we'd <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/09/playing-ds-on-a-3ds-is-less-than-ideal/">advise against</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/22/buy-one-3ds-game-get-one-half-off-at-toys-r-us-this-sunday/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Buy one 3DS game, get one half off at Toys R Us this Sunday</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/22/buy-one-3ds-game-get-one-half-off-at-toys-r-us-this-sunday/">Buy one 3DS game, get one half off at Toys R Us this Sunday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Mar 2011 15:00:00 EST. Sure, you've probably caught plenty of Pikachu across the various generations of the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/pokemon-black-and-white">Pok&eacute;mon</a></em> franchise, but have you ever added a celebrity Pikachu to your collection? Toys R Us is offering a chance for you to do just that from today through February 13 -- just stop by any participating location with any of the DS Pok&eacute;mon games in tow, and you can download "Ash's Pikachu" directly to your roster.<br />
<br />
What sets this particular instance of the electric rat apart from the others? Well, he possesses the same moveset as the Pikachu from the television show (Thunderbolt, Iron Tail and Volt Tackle, for interested parties) and generally has an air of authenticity you'll find lacking in your run-of-the-mill Pikachu. At least, it will until you delete those moves, replacing them with stronger abilities, then breed the little guy into oblivion hoping to get a Pichu with a favorable Nature, whom you can then EV train, evolve and level up until you have a lean, mean, Lv. 100 Raichu-killing-machine.<br />
<br />
... We're sad that we know what all of those things mean.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/03/toys-r-us-now-distributing-tvs-pikachu-to-your-ds/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toys R Us now distributing TV's Pikachu to your DS</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/03/toys-r-us-now-distributing-tvs-pikachu-to-your-ds/">Toys R Us now distributing TV's Pikachu to your DS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 Feb 2011 05:00:00 EST. Don't feel like a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/sports-champions"><em>Sports Champion</em></a>? Feel like a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/playstation-move-heroes"><em>PlayStation Move Hero</em></a> instead? Then, you'll want to go to Toys R Us to get your hands on the newest PlayStation Move bundle. For $99.99 (the same price as the current bundle), you'll get a PlayStation Eye camera, one PlayStation Move controller and a copy of the Ratchet/Sly/Jak mash-up game, <em>PlayStation Move Heroes</em>. The bundle does not include a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/16/move-navigation-controller-can-be-replaced-by-dualshock/">navigation controller</a> -- odd, considering the box says it will "enhance your gameplay."<br />
<br />
Like the standalone game, this will be available on March 22nd.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/28/playstation-move-gets-a-more-heroic-less-sporty-bundle/">PlayStation Move gets a more heroic, less sporty bundle</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 28 Jan 2011 17:40:00 EST. If your six-strong roster in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/pokemon-heartgold"><em>Pok&eacute;mon HeartGold </em>and <em>SoulSilver</em></a> could use a little sparkle, a little pizazz, a little shimmer -- any of that stuff, a handful of download promotions slated for early next year should satisfy your needs quite well. You can download rare, shiny versions of legendary monsters Raikou, Entei and Suicine during various week-long periods in January <a href="http://www.pokemongoldsilver.com/us/#/news/trio/">at Gamestop</a>. Check out the schedule of their availability after the jump, and plan your retail excursions accordingly.<br />
<br />
If you're looking for something a little more plain Jane, you can pick up Ash's Pikachu -- a version of the iconic lightning mouse with a special set of abilities -- <a href="http://www.toysrus.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=4311963">at Toys R Us</a> between January 30 and February 5. Don't get it twisted, though; this guy starts out at level 50. This isn't the adorable mascot you came to know and love in the anime series. This Pikachu is a <em>hardened killing machine</em>.<br />
<br />

Did Santa not bring you all the games you placed upon your list of Christmas demands? You can remedy these oversights yourself at Toys R Us this week: Through January 1, all games at the store are eligible for buy one, get one half-off. That's in addition to a few other gaming deals on offer.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/28/toys-r-us-deal-buy-one-game-get-one-half-off-through-jan-1/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toys R Us deal: buy one game, get one half-off through Jan. 1</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/28/toys-r-us-deal-buy-one-game-get-one-half-off-through-jan-1/">Toys R Us deal: buy one game, get one half-off through Jan. 1</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Dec 2010 16:10:00 EST. One of Ubisoft's more bizarre products at E3, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battle-tag"><em>Battle Tag</em></a>, finally has a release date. In Texas and Canada. And, as of writing, <em>only</em> Texas and Canada. Ubisoft's self-described "hybrid" toy/game lets you recreate a laser tag experience at home, but with a number of game-inspired twists. There are health packs, ammo crates, and multiple game modes, customizable via an included PC app. For more info on how the setup process works, check out our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/08/preview-battle-tag/">video preview</a>.<br />
<br />
The two player "Starter Pack" will be available for $129.99. The Canadian release is set for November 22, exclusively at Zellers and on Ubisoft's <a href="http://shop.ubi.com/store/ubina/en_US/pd/ThemeID.8605600/productID.221196900/Battle-Tag-2Player-Starter-Pack.html">official website</a>. Texas will serve as a "test release" for the US market, with fifteen Toys R Us stores in Houston and Austin to begin selling the toys <em>tomorrow</em>.<br />
<br />
Ubisoft has created an action-packed trailer of lots of people having fun with the <em>Battle Tag</em> gear, which we've embedded after the break. Provided you live in Texas or Canada, and have lots of money to spare, maybe you'll be able to join in on the fun as well. Call your local store to see if it's one of the fifteen.<br />

But sometimes, the little ones' wish lists trump your own and ... <em>Toy R Us it is!</em><br />
<br />
Lucky for you, there are at least a few Black Friday video game sales that you might reach for as you race up and down the aisles in search of <em>that last</em> Little Mommy All-in-1 Nursery set -- just $40 while supplies last!<br />
<br />
Past the break, we've highlighted a few of the (game) deals that popped out at us from the <a href="http://bfads.net/Ad/Toys-R-Us-2010">ad scan</a>. Spot anything else?<br />

Did you want to be the first person to buy Kinect? You were well beaten. The first person -- in a warm purple hoodie -- arrived on Monday, more than two days ago. Thankfully, he had some friends to keep him company. We chatted with the collective group, and asked about what compelled them to wait in the New York City cold. "The deal! It's just so good," one person shouted. "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/03/free-kinect-sports-joy-ride-for-first-3-000-kinect-buyers-at-ny/">The deal</a> is just -- that's what attracted me. You're getting $160 free and you're buying a $150 system." Certainly, being the <em>first</em> person on line is one way of guaranteeing access to the deal.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, there <em>is</em> a downside to waiting on line for the Kinect, other than the cold, the hunger and inconvenient bathroom breaks. Whilst standing at the entrance of the Times Square Toys R Us, you could faintly see Microsoft's extravagant dance performance (of 600 people!), a block away. "You can be first on line, but you miss everything else," one person lamented. "It's a tease."<br />
<br />
But what about the games? "<em>Dance Central</em> looks good. I actually like <em>Kinect Adventures</em> -- that free one that they're giving? That rafting one?"<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/03/kinects-first-purchasers-talk-about-camping-out-systems-poten/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Kinect's first purchasers talk about camping out, system's potential</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/03/kinects-first-purchasers-talk-about-camping-out-systems-poten/">Kinect's first purchasers talk about camping out, system's potential</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 03 Nov 2010 20:00:00 EST. The official launch event for the sensor will take place at the Times Square Toys R Us, and Microsoft is giving away substantial bonuses to early buyers.<br />
<br />
The first 3,000 people to buy Kinects at the event will receive free copies of <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/kinect-sports">Kinect Sports</a></em> and <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/kinect-joy-ride">Kinect Joy Ride</a></em>, along with a free year of Xbox Live Gold membership. And then, after all those hours of standing around, they'll get to go home and ... play games while standing. Random attendees will be handed prizes while in line, as well. Basically, what we're saying is you should go right now. Preferably sooner.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/03/free-kinect-sports-joy-ride-for-first-3-000-kinect-buyers-at-ny/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Free Kinect Sports, Joy Ride for first 3,000 Kinect buyers at NYC launch</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/03/free-kinect-sports-joy-ride-for-first-3-000-kinect-buyers-at-ny/">Free Kinect Sports, Joy Ride for first 3,000 Kinect buyers at NYC launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 03 Nov 2010 10:00:00 EST. Activision's second attempt at peripheral-based skateboarding will be available in stores on October 26th. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tony-hawk-shred"><em>Tony Hawk Shred</em></a> promises "Big Air! Bigger Tricks!' in a more <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/13/preview-tony-hawk-shred/">kid-friendly</a> approach to the franchise. <br />
<br />
Keeping in line with the game's younger vibe, it's fitting that Activision has partnered up with <a href="http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4413375">Toys R Us</a> on an exclusive version of the board-and-game bundle. For $99, you'll get a copy of the game and a board featuring one of "Tony's custom Birdhouse graphics." Of course, if you still have your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tony-hawk-ride"><em>Tony Hawk Ride </em></a>board, you can opt to reuse that for the sequel.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/01/tony-hawk-shreds-october-26-toys-r-us-to-sell-exclusive-board/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Tony Hawk Shreds October 26, Toys R Us to sell exclusive board</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/01/tony-hawk-shreds-october-26-toys-r-us-to-sell-exclusive-board/">Tony Hawk Shreds October 26, Toys R Us to sell exclusive board</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 Oct 2010 18:30:00 EST. Toys R Us is looking to get in on the used game biz. We know -- back in September, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/10/toys-r-us-rolls-out-national-game-trade-in-program-classic-game/">Toys R Us said the opposite</a>, but it would appear that was all a ruse. (That's the last time we let <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QId0kqb9Wo0">The Giraffes</a> trick us!)<br />
<br />
The retailer will sell these used games at 500 of its 850 stores in the US, <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6275817.html">GameSpot</a> reports. The games -- which are handed over to a third-party company for testing before being sent back to be resold -- will go for no more than $30 each. Those trading in games can do so at an in-store kiosk for gift cards redeemable at any Toys R Us location and through its online store.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/16/toys-r-us-to-start-selling-used-games-at-500-of-its-stores/">Toys R Us to start selling used games at 500 of its stores</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Sep 2010 21:30:00 EST. Sorry, sorry, we know we should have gotten this up earlier, but even after all these years, <a href="http://www.toysrus.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=2255974">Toys R Us</a>' delicious "buy 1, get 1 50% off" sales knock us out. The sale includes all video games except PC games and pre-orders, so don't think you're getting clever by purchasing <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/fable-3"><em>Fable 3</em></a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/halo-reach"><em>Halo: Reach</em></a> in full now.<br />
<br />
This sale only comes around a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/27/toys-r-us-buy-one-get-one-half-off-next-weekend/">few times a year</a>, so it's always good to pounce on it if you've been saving your nickels (idiom inflation). Oh, yes, and because it comes up <em>every time</em>: if two games have different values, the discount is applied to the game that costs less.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/27/toys-r-us-having-buy-1-get-1-50-off-sale-this-week/">Toys R Us having 'Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off' sale this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Jul 2010 00:00:00 EST. Today and tomorrow, you'll get a $50 gift card with the purchase of the $200 console. It's like the <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/wii-sports-resort">Wii Sports Resort</a></em> deals <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/05/walmart-exclusive-wii-bundle-includes-wii-sports-resort/">Walmart</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/09/free-wii-sports-resort-with-wii-hardware-at-target-next-week/">Target</a> have offered recently, except you can get pretty much any game instead of <em>Resort</em>.<br />

Check the <a href="http://toysrus.shoplocal.com/toysrus/default.aspx?action=entryflash&amp;">weekly ad</a> for your ZIP code before going in. We don't want any of you to drive down to Toys R Us just to be disappointed.<br />

If you skipped out on last year's crossfading, record-scratching simulator <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dj-hero"><em>DJ Hero</em></a> due to its once-outlandish price, you're running out of excuses to not pick it up. <a href="http://www.toysrus.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&amp;kw=dj%20hero&amp;origkw=dj%20hero&amp;f=Taxonomy/TRUS/2254197&amp;sr=1">Toys 'R Us recently knocked</a> the price of the 360, Wii and PS3 (but puzzlingly, not the PS2) versions of the game down to a scant $49.99 -- a significant decrease from its launch price of $120.<br />
<br />
Still wondering whether the game's worth your hard-earned Grantpaper? That's a decision you have to make on your own -- though, wait! <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Gc8TsBYvNQ">Dizzee Rascal</a> is here to help! The problem with the Easter weekend is that it's one of the many holidays celebrated the world over <em>without</em> presents. Like, how can you enjoy your time off of school or work or whatever without a hot new gametape to solve? Well, thanks to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/toys-r-us">Toys R Us</a>' buy one, get one half-off sale, you just may be able to.<br />
<br />
On April 2 and 3, stores nationwide, as well as <a href="http://www.toysrus.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=2255956">the retailer's site</a>, will offer the sale on its entire stock of video games -- among other, non-gaming goods. That means you could buy a copy of <em>Dragon Age: Origins </em>and snag <em>Awakening</em> for half-off. Or you could pick up a couple copies of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-bad-company-2"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company 2</em></a> and <u> </u>get a friend in the mix for relatively cheap. Sharing is caring!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/27/toys-r-us-buy-one-get-one-half-off-next-weekend/">Toys R Us buy one, get one half-off next weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 27 Mar 2010 08:00:00 EST. On Sunday, March 14, Pikachu footprints will be placed around Broadway Plaza, inviting fans to trace the trail of the fictional giant rat, with live demonstrations of the game and accessory along the trail.<br />
<br />
Nintendo's usual launch events take place at the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center, but this one is located in (and around) the Times Square Toys 'R' Us. Should you show up at the NWS, you'll just have to do a little extra walking.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/08/nintendo-leading-fans-on-wild-pokemon-chase-in-new-york-city/">Nintendo leading fans on wild Pokemon chase in New York City</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 Mar 2010 14:15:00 EST. Be honest -- regardless of which of the Great Console War's factions you side with, you're either going to purchase <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mag"><em>MAG</em></a> or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mass-effect-2"><em>Mass Effect 2</em></a> at some point next week. While you're doing so, Toys R Us will be running a pretty sweet promotion: purchases one of those games and also <a href="http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3632085">grab <em>Valkyria Chronicles</em> on PS3 for just $20</a>. Now, we realize the 360 diehards out there will have little use for this game. However, we suggest sending it to your favorite PS3-loving comment-sparring partner. Think of the hours of entertainment they've brought to your life!<br />
<br />
If tactical RPGs aren't your area of expertise, we also suggest checking out the rest of Toys R Us' site for <a href="http://www.toysrus.com/search/index.jsp?categoryId=2276203&amp;fbx=0&amp;fbc=1&amp;f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2255956&amp;f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2255974&amp;fbn=Taxonomy|Video+Games&amp;pg=1">a killer clearance sale </a>on a number of games and accessories. You'll have to dig through a disheartening pile of <em>Imagine</em> titles to find the valuable chunks of ore -- don't let it break your spirits! It's worth it, we promise.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/22/valkyria-for-20-with-mag-or-me2-purchase-at-toys-r-us/">Valkyria for $20 with MAG or ME2 purchase at Toys R Us, other games on clearance</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Jan 2010 12:27:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/toys-r-us">Toys R Us</a> will feature a "buy one, get one half off" game sale on all console and some Nintendo DS software starting the day after Christmas (that's December 26) through January 2, 2010. The sale covers all Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, and PS2 titles, along with Nintendo DS games that are $20 or less.<br />
<br />
Remember that TRU <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/10/toys-r-us-rolls-out-national-game-trade-in-program-classic-game/">now accepts game trade-ins</a>, although dealing with the customer service desk the day after Christmas will likely be <em>a nightmare</em> -- just imagine all those parents trying to return the <em>white</em> Zhu Zhu Pet because their kids wanted the <em>brown</em> one. Stores open at 8:00AM on December 26 for those who want first dibs on the discounted games.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/23/toys-r-us-sale-buy-1-get-1-half-off-after-xmas/">Toys R Us Sale: buy 1, get 1 'half off' after Xmas</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Dec 2009 15:00:00 EST. Gorged, bloated and possessed by the lure of <em>unbeatable savings</em><em>, </em>you will scratch and claw your way through masses of equally frenzied shoppers. There, in the dim light of dawn, you will forsake all that was sacred of the Thanksgiving, and <em>take what's yours</em> -- for an awfully good price. So then, let us be your guide.<br />
<br />

Therefore, they won't require you to stand outside in the middle of the night or battle other deal-seekers for possession of a "doorbuster" (which Toys R Us is also reportedly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/16/rumor-toys-r-us-black-friday-deals-leaked/">doing</a>). Even better, Toys R Us is the only retailer we know of handing out Cold Stone gift cards with purchases. <br />
<br />
Starting on Sunday:
<ul>
    <li>all DS and PSP games will be buy one, get one half off.</li>
    <li>Wii and Xbox 360 Arcade hardware purchases will be bundled with (seriously) a $15 gift card for Wendy's, Subway, or Cold Stone Creamery -- <em>deal available in-store only</em></li>
    <li>"Select video games" will be bundled with a $25 iTunes gift card -- <em>deal available in-store only</em></li>
    <li>The Beatles: Rock Band standalone software will be $49.99.</li>
    <li>The Beatles: Rock Band "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/03/psa-beatles-rock-band-special-value-edition-isnt-such-a-spe/">Special Value Edition</a>" will be $134.99.</li>
    <li>"Select video game storage units" will be $34.99.</li>
</ul>
From Friday, November 20 through Sunday, November 22, both TRU stores and Toysrus.com will offer a "Ready to Play DS Lite Pack" for $157.95, containing a DS Lite, a case, various accessories, and two DS games from an "edited assortment." TRU says that, when purchased as part of this set, the DS comes out to $64.99.<br />

Toys R Us <a href="http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/toysrus-expands-big-gift-layaway-to-include-video-game-hardware-adds-video-game-hardware-trade-in-for-gift-card-program-70354067.html">announced</a> today that its "Big Gift" layaway program will now include video game hardware. TRU CEO Jerry Storch states that it was the "number one" request from customers. For those who don't know what layaway is: it's the practice of a company holding onto a "purchased" product until the customer has paid for the item in full. For the TRU program, customers must deposit 20% of the console's total purchase, including tax, and a "$10 service charge." Payments can be made at the store in cash, check, credit card ... wait, what? If someone has a credit card, then -- <em>nevermind</em>. Payment must be made in full before December 6. There will also be a fee for canceled orders and the program is not available in Maryland.<br /> <br /> The retailer is also expanding its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/10/toys-r-us-rolls-out-national-game-trade-in-program-classic-game/">video game trade-in program</a>, which began in September, to include video game hardware. The program begins this Friday, November 20, and works almost the same way as the software trade-in: customers go to the "guest service desk," their items are scanned, an offer is made and they receive a gift card if all is approved. We've listed all consoles and handhelds available for trade-in after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/18/toys-r-us-expands-layaway-to-include-consoles-adds-hardware-to/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Toys R Us expands layaway to include consoles, adds hardware to trade-in program</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/18/toys-r-us-expands-layaway-to-include-consoles-adds-hardware-to/">Toys R Us expands layaway to include consoles, adds hardware to trade-in program</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Nov 2009 09:17:00 EST.
