Hang out with the Sportsfriends live stream tonight from Tumblr HQ

The developers of Sportsfriends, that cheerful quartet of quirky sports-esque games set to hit PSN, are showing off some sweet moves via a live stream from Tumblr central, tonight at 7:30 p.m. EST. The Sportsfriends games are J.S. Joust, Hokra, BaraBariball and Pole Riders, and if you haven't seen any of them in action yet, you're truly missing out.

The live stream will be entertaining, yes, but it serves a greater purpose: getting eyeballs on the Sportsfriends Kickstarter project, which has three days to raise $70,000. Regardless of your donation intention, the Sportsfriends stream will be more entertaining than any prime-time programming you'd otherwise be watching tonight, guaranteed.

MechWarrior Online gets 'Mechsgiving' update

MechWarrior Online finally went into Open Beta late last month, and the team isn't wasting any time updating the game with new content. They're asking players to celebrate "Mechsgiving" later this week with a new mech called the Cataphract, which features a solid offense combined with jump jets and plenty of armor.

The update introduces the "Frozen City at Night" environment, along with new modules for targeting and the Beagle Active Probe, which can increase a mech's sensor range.

The folks at Pirahna Games will show the content live on Twitch.tv tomorrow, November 21 at 6pm PST, and invite players to jump in with them during that time. Pictures of the Cataphract (and its four variants) are in the gallery below.

Capcom launches TwitchTV channel for official Street Fighter tournaments

Fighting game tournaments are exciting and fun and everything, especially when we're talking about big-ticket international stuff like Capcom's 25th anniversary Street Fighter tournament series, but finding the livestreams for each event can be a bit of a crap shoot.

While tracking down that obscure sunday night ranbat may still be a pain, watching Capcom events has at least gotten a bit easier thanks to Capcom Fighters; an official Capcom TwitchTV channel that is now the dedicated home of all official Capcom tournaments.

The channel's next live event will be the Street Fighter 25th anniversary series qualifier in San Paulo, Brazil on October 12 - 14, though the station is streaming reruns of previous 25th anniversary qualifiers all weekend to celebrate its launch.

Twitch receives $15 million investment to expand eSports broadcasts

Twitch.tv has received $15 million from an investment firm to expand its eSports streaming. In an interview with Venturebeat, Twitch VP of Marketing Matthew DiPietro says the money will allow the company to expand its engineering team and improve its live video streaming services.

"That's the kind of entrepreneurs we like to work with," said Ethan Kurzweil, Vice President at Bessemer Venture Partners, which put up the money. "They created this market. They created a whole phenomenon."

Twitch states it now has over 20 million unique viewers per month. The site has raised $23 million to date, with a small seed round in 2005 and an $8 million investment as Justin.tv back in 2007.

This ragtag group will dissect the importance of narrative over gameplay, vice versa, inside-out and inverted, and it's all captured live for you to watch below via Twitch TV. The panel begins at 3 p.m. ET, or as the indoctrinated few call it, right now.
