Last weekend we took a look at the changes coming to Marvel's fighters in November's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ultimate-marvel-vs-capcom-3"><em>Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3</em></a>, and now it's time to scrutinize the nerfs and buffs being administered to Capcom's side of the isle.<br />
<br />
Jump past the break for the incredibly "inside baseball" list of adjustments and start planning your strategies accordingly. There's plenty of alterations being thrown around, but MvC3's tiers have been so well defined up until now, we doubt we'll see any fewer C. Vipers in tournament finals, <em>especially</em> now that she has an "Optic Laser," whatever that may be.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/30/ultimate-marvel-vs-capcom-3-character-changes-part-two-capcom/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 character changes, part two: Capcom characters</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/30/ultimate-marvel-vs-capcom-3-character-changes-part-two-capcom/">Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 character changes, part two: Capcom characters</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 30 Oct 2011 10:30:00 EST. With <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/spider-man-shattered-dimensions">Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions</a>'</em> fourth and final locale <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/22/ultimate-spider-man-shattered-dimensions-universe-revealed-is/">out of the bag</a> (it <em>is</em> "Ultimate" Spidey, as many surmised), Activision was showing off the first playable build of the game at a pre-Comic-Con event last night. I played both the newly revealed Ultimate Spidey, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/15/activision-confirms-final-spider-man-shattered-dimensions-cover/">in his black symbiote suit</a>, and the Noir version.<br />
<br />
While I wasn't clued in to the game's multidimensional, overarching story (perhaps at the Comic-Con panel then?), I did get a feel for the combat, which is arguably the make-or-break component of the game. Though I only played within two of the game's four universes, I found the combat to be solid -- if a little shallow -- and in practice it came together better than I had expected after watching a developer play the game last month.<br />

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Nyko/">Nyko</a> knows that playing the DS these days is a matter of <em>survival.</em> If you're hanging out in the jungle, as happens on occasion, then this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/accessories">accessory</a> kit may save your DS's life. Are you willing to take your chances?<br /><br />Furthermore, if you're charging your DS in the car, and there's a jungle <em>inside your car</em>, the included charger may be the difference between a stealthy escape and capture. By enemies, inside the jungle, inside your car.<br /><br />All joking (briefly) aside, the Ultimate Kit Lite somehow looks pretty stylish in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/20/combat-ready-ds-mod/">camo</a>, and it holds 8 games. It might be a good choice for people looking for a new case and a car charger!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/16/nyko-hides-the-ds-in-plain-sight/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nyko hides the DS in plain sight</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/16/nyko-hides-the-ds-in-plain-sight/">Nyko hides the DS in plain sight</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Jul 2007 14:15:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/29/jump-ultimate-stars-imported-reviewed/"><em>Jump Ultimate Stars</em></a> is one of the most popular DS games with importers. Since it's a fighting game, it's not a huge deal to play <em>Jump</em> without knowing Japanese, but there are a lot of missions that may be difficult to figure out. Also, the game actually tries to tell a story, which is rare for a fighting game. <br /><br />Abel Tamayo wrote in to tell us about a wonderful wiki project he's managing, called, appropriately enough, the <em>Jump Ultimate Stars</em> Translation Project. We've seen amazing fan translation <a href="http://www.nathanmallory.com/ffx2/">projects</a> from single translators, but never a project done in a collaborative wiki format. It's a great idea, one that will allow tragically busy people to help out. If you know Japanese, why not sign up? Translating a fighting game-- that's another rarity. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/SNK/">SNK</a> <a href="http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=victoly">never bothered to do it</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/11/translate-ultimate-stars/">Translate! Our requirements for duck hunting games are stringent, you see, and it would take a truly robust and deep duck hunting game to fill the spot of the <em>decisive</em> duck hunting game in our collection. We wonder if the game will really be the authoritative work the title claims it will be.<br /><br />We're actually kidding about the stringent requirements, and like most people, we consider the duck hunting genre well and truly filled since <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duck_Hunt">1985</a>. Have a look at some screens and decide for yourself if you should update your library of duck hunting video games.<em></em><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/14/how-ultimate-is-ultimate-duck-hunting/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>How Ultimate is Ultimate Duck Hunting?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/14/how-ultimate-is-ultimate-duck-hunting/">How Ultimate is Ultimate Duck Hunting?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 May 2007 18:50:00 EST. Sure, it's not as exciting as, say, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/28/more-xbox-360-elite-media-trickles-in/">Xbox 360 Elite</a>, but there <em>is</em> a new Live Arcade game out this week. That game, as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/23/gyruss-denied-jetpac-hits-xbla-next-week/">previously announced</a>, is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/23/video-jetpacs-happy-rainbow-lasers/"><em>Jetpac Refuelled</em></a>. Does it break the 50MB limit? No, quite the opposite in fact. <em>Jetpac Refuelled</em> clocks in at a dainty 21MB. So, go download the trial and see what you think. Should you desire to, ahem, go all the way, the full version can be had for 400 points.<br />
<br />

Their verdict? It's pretty much the cat's pajamas.<br /><br />Citing the new character evolution system allows for a more import-friendly game overall, as well as incredibly large cast of characters, the game has a ton of depth. Also, let us not forget the Wi-Fi Connect-compatible multiplayer. We curse our inability to read and speak Japanese as this game truly is something that needs to be localized for territories outside of Japan. <br /><br />See also: <br />

This DVD, which features game trailers for both <em>Marvel: Ultimate Alliance</em> and <em>Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam</em> for the Wii, is titled <em>Living the Game with the Wii and Activision</em>. With the combination of the Wii <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/24/glowing-wii-gift-cards-courtesy-of-target/">gift card</a>, it seems like Target has caught the fever the rest of us are suffering from.<br /><br />Anyone else see this in their local Target? The website features character bios on all of the fighters, as well as screens showing the in-game mayhem the title promises. Not only are they now charged with <em>pushing buttons</em>, but must also add in the spectrum of movement with the Wiimote. How does a fast swipe react in-game compared to that of a slow, long swipe? How about thrusting? Clearly, it's a tough job that even <em>rocket scientists</em> request no part of.<br /><br />In the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1539642/20060828/index.jhtml?headlines=true&amp;rsspartner=rssYahooNewscrawler">behind the scenes</a> article, associate designer <span class="blkPnkHover"><span class="storyCopy" style="text-align: left;">Mike Chrzanowski commented that initially his game, <em>Marvel: Ultimate Alliance</em>, had around 20 different gestures translating into in-game actions. This caused a lot more harm than help, however, which then dropped the 20 down to a more modest and manageable 5. Obviously, including more gesture-based gameplay leaves a larger possibility for error, so in cutting it down to 5 the player need not worry that when Spidey is supposed to do a web swing, he instead does another signature, albeit less-popular, maneuver in the patented <em>getting beaten to death by multiple thugs</em> move. <br /></span></span><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/29/wii-game-testers-wanted-must-have-flailing-arms/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/30/behind-the-scenes-wii-game-testers/">Behind the scenes: Wii game testers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 Aug 2006 15:00:00 EST. The biggest let-down from the piece is that the game will offer no online support whatsoever, meaning that we will not see any WiiConnect 24 features utilized as well as no online co-op play. <br /><br />On the bright side, however, is that the game will be a launch title and retail for $49.99 US. Evan also commented that the game's controls on the Wii will differ from the other console versions of the game, something we were horribly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/24/marvel-ultimate-alliance-to-feature-unexciting-controls/">mislead</a> to believe wasn't happening. Turns out that while in other console versions of the game you can only map two super powers to the controller at any given time, on the Wii the game will allow the player to use any power whenever they wish simply by performing a specific gesture with the Wiimote.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/17/details-on-marvel-ultimate-alliance/">Details on Marvel: Ultimate Alliance</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Aug 2006 12:15:00 EST. Gametrailers.com has gone absolutely crazy with <em>Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins</em>, posting <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&amp;id=2428">three new videos</a> of the game in motion. We've <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/ultimate-ghosts-n-goblins/">covered this game</a> quite extensively so far, and although there may be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/04/mixed-impressions-of-the-released-ghosts-n-goblins/">mixed impressions</a> of the quality of the game, the video evidence seems to suggest that this game will be undoubtedly awesome.<br /><br /><strong>See also:</strong><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/02/living-the-life-of-ghouls-and-goblins-arthur/">Living the life of Arthur</a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/16/ultimate-ghosts-n-goblins-video-blowout/">Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins video blowout</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Aug 2006 11:34:00 EST. Without a Wii controller in hand, their realistic interpretation of Spider-Man's web-slinging and Wolverine's claw-slashing would only make them look like a fool. With the controller in-hand, at least they could say they were playing a game<em>.</em> <br /><br />OK, fine...that staffer was <em>me</em>.<br /><br />Regardless, for those of you who have large amounts of <em>sanity</em> on tap, you may still be looking forward to this title. Surely, with such super-dudes as Ghost Rider, Blade, Spider-Man, The Thing, and Thor, there's plenty of reason for you to want to pick up the Wiimote and beat down a henchman or thirty. If that's the case, then go ahead and drool over the 39 new screenshots after the link.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/11/screenshot-explosion-marvel-ultimate-alliance/">Screenshot explosion: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Aug 2006 15:00:00 EST.
