You know that well-hidden NBC News tab that lives on the Inside Xbox channel of your 360 Dashboard? No? Well, let's start over, then: There's an NBC News tab on the Inside Xbox channel, which allows you to stream content from NBC News. We wouldn't blame you for not being aware of its existence; fortunately, Microsoft has made the decision to move the content to the slightly more trafficked Video Marketplace portion of the Dashboard.<br />
<br />
According to <a href="http://majornelson.com/2011/06/24/nbc-now-in-the-video-channel/">Major Nelson</a>, the channel now features higher quality video, as well as additional categorized features like Most Viewed, NBC Nightly News and the Today Show. It's the closest you're ever going to get to playing <em>Halo: Reach</em> with Al Roker. <em>Or is it</em>? (No, it probably is.) (<em>OR IS IT</em>?)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/25/nbc-news-section-on-xbox-dashboard-expanded-moved/">NBC News section on Xbox dashboard expanded, moved</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 25 Jun 2011 03:20:00 EST. If you couldn't make it out to Vegas for <a href="http://www.dicesummit.org/">the DICE Summit</a> earlier this year (and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dice-2011/">our in-depth coverage</a> wasn't in enough depth for you), worry not -- Xbox Live has your back. By going to the GamerTV channel in the Video Marketplace, you can watch <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2011-04-01-aias-awards-and-d-i-c-e-sessions-on-xbox-live">parts of the Academy of Interactive Achievement awards show, as well as highlighted sessions</a> from the summit for free. Interactive entertainment-related sessions from Richard "Lord British" Garriott, the director of <em>Kung Fu Panda</em>, and oceanographer Dr. Dave Gallo are all available for viewing.<br />
<br />
Not included: the expensive Las Vegas hotel room and overpriced buffet you would have if you were there live. But you can watch the awards show itself, and see <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/11/mass-effect-2-wins-goty-rpg-story-awards-at-dice-2011/">some of your favorite games </a>win those AIAS awards all over again.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/02/aias-awards-and-dice-sessions-now-available-on-xbox-live/">AIAS Awards and DICE sessions now available on Xbox Live</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 02 Apr 2011 22:00:00 EST. First announced at the Sony E3 2010 press conference, the PlayStation Network Video Store is coming to our Canadian neighbors on July 1st. It's taken a long time, but Canadians will finally be able to download movies and television shows directly to their PS3 and PSP systems.<br />

Time Warner's premium cable channel is coming to the PS3 and PSP later today. Sony has just announced that programming from HBO will be made available via the PlayStation Network video delivery service in North America. The initial selection includes the both the first two seasons of <em>True Blood</em> (Season 2 debuts on DVD today, as well). In addition, select seasons of <em>Big Love</em>, <em>Entourage</em>, <em>Eastbound and Down</em>, <em>The Sopranos</em>, <em>Sex and the City</em>, <em>The Wire</em>, <em>Rome</em>, <em>Da Ali G Show</em>, <em>Curb Your Enthusiasm</em> and <em>Flight of the Conchords</em> will also be available, with "more titles and additional seasons to be added each week."<br />
<br />
Pricing information wasn't made available in the press release, but we believe it will be similar to the content currently available on iTunes: $2.99 per episode. HBO enthusiasts will definitely want to stay tuned for tonight's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psn-tuesday">PSN Tuesday</a> update.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/25/hbo-joins-playstation-network-video-service/">HBO joins PlayStation Network video service</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 May 2010 00:30:00 EST. As far as we know, the kind of laziness which prevents you from visiting the nearest Blockbuster Video is a worldwide phenomenon. According to <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/events/ces/docs/XboxLIVEFS.doc">a press release</a> (.doc link) dropped just in time for CES, Microsoft is catering to this global lethargy by opening up the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/video-marketplace">Xbox Live Video Marketplace</a> to ten more countries this fall: Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Australia and New Zealand. <br />
<br />
Basically, if the Xbox Live Video Marketplace was playing <em>Risk</em>, it'd have a kickass lock on the Eastern Hemisphere.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/07/xbox-live-video-marketplace-coming-to-10-more-countries-this-fa/">Xbox Live Video Marketplace coming to 10 more countries 'this fall'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Jan 2010 15:00:00 EST. It's been over a year since Sony America and Japan <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/psn-video-delivery-service-with-8-studios-to-launch-tonight/">debuted video delivery services</a> for the PlayStation Store. Today, the long-delayed feature finally makes its way to Europe. The service will launch in France, Germany, Spain and the UK today, with other countries to follow in 2010. Downloads will be available directly from the PS3 and PSP, with rentals starting from &euro;1.99, and movie purchases starting from &euro;7.99.<br />
<br />
For a limited time, the PlayStation Store will be running a special promo. Anyone that purchases <em>Angels and Demons</em> from the newly launched service will get a free copy of <em>The Da Vinci Code</em>. New registrants of the PlayStation Network will also be able to get a free download of <em>Transformers</em> if they create an account before November 30.<br />
<br />
"The launch of the PlayStation Network video delivery service extends our entertainment offering and provides consumers with another way to access their favorite movies, whether at home or on the go," SCEE's Andrew House wrote in a press release. SCEE's Jem Alexander also shared his enthusiasm with us, saying the service will be "amazing" and that "biscuits are brilliant."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/19/psa-playstation-video-service-expands-to-europe-today/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PSA: PlayStation Video Service expands to Europe today</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/19/psa-playstation-video-service-expands-to-europe-today/">PSA: PlayStation Video Service expands to Europe today</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Nov 2009 06:00:00 EST. We're all still reeling from the passing of the King of Pop, but fortunately, Microsoft's got a nice (albeit brief) memorial for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Michael-Jackson/">Michael Jackson</a> up on Xbox Live. This weekend only, the Video Marketplace is giving away the full, ten-minute version of <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/videos/media/fbed879f-75ab-451b-a0e5-252dcdea61e2/?bt=0&amp;sb=1&amp;mt=128&amp;gu=fbed879f-75ab-451b-a0e5-252dcdea61e2&amp;p=1&amp;of=0">MJ's classic "Thriller" music video</a> for your viewing pleasure. Yep, the greatest music video of all time is free to download until the end of the day today.<br /><br />It's a nice gesture -- but why not just make <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtyJbIOZjS8">the video</a> permanently free? We're not sure these wounds will heal in such a short period of time.<br /><br /><strong>Update: </strong>Looks like they've already take the deal down. UK's <span class="text_article_body">Advertising Standards Authority (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ASA/">ASA</a>) has struck an advertisement for Xbox 360's video download service with the ban hammer because it did not <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=208025%3Fcid">disclose the expiration</a> time frame of Video Marketplace content</span><span class="text_article_body">.</span><br /> <br /> The ASA investigated the advert after receiving a complaint that it did not specify Microsoft's actual policy on video rentals, which states that <span class="text_article_body">rentals</span> will become unwatchable 24 hours after initial viewing or 14 days after purchase. The ASA concluded that "<span class="text_article_body">new users could be influenced to purchase" with the belief that they would own the right to watch the film at any time.<br /> <br /> According to <a href="http://www.webuser.co.uk/news/276824.html?aff=rss">Webuser</a>, Microsoft argues the brief television spot did not allow enough time to detail the entire Video Marketplace policy, but the ASA maintains the service has "</span><span class="text_article_body">significant conditions"</span> that must be disclosed to consumers. It's true, gamers, you really don't own anything you put into your Xbox 360 console. Cracking it open will only reveal a stack of digital IOU's.<br /> <br />

It's such an easy (and convenient) way to browse the latest and greatest Marketplace content from the comfort of your internet browser. But being bloggers, we've always had an issue with the inability to find a specific URL to link to certain content. Well, friends, those URL-less days are over, because the web Marketplace has just been updated with a new <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/02/03/how-to-link-to-specific-piece-of-content-on-web-marketplace.aspx">"Send a Link" feature</a>. Below every piece of Marketplace content, you'll find a convenient URL to share with others and post to your favorite social networking site..<br /><br />Thanks to this new feature, sharing content with your friends is just a click away, our blogging job has become more efficient and spending your Microsoft points has become even easier. It's a win-win-win!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/linking-to-xblm-content-on-the-web-just-got-easier/">Linking to XBLM content on the web just got easier</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Feb 2009 22:40:00 EST. We're sure the promotion has something to do with the fact that the NXE-enabled Netflix streaming feature is available on the 360. We're almost positive.<br /><br />To enter the giveaway, simply <a href="http://www.netflix.com">sign up</a> for Netflix and download the registration gamer picture off the Marketplace. Only one winner will be selected to take home the home theater prize, but even "losers" will have something to smile about: They will be subscribers to a great<em> </em>content streaming service. <div align="left">One of the greatest movies of 2008 (possibly EVER!) is now available for rental off the U.S. Xbox Live Video Marketplace. Pixar's <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0910970/"><em>Wall-E</em></a> and all his cute, innocent and robot'ish charm <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/videos/media/7696028a-067d-4964-97fd-50e05b9176e0/">can be rented</a> in standard definition for 320 Microsoft points or in high definition for the always expensive price of 480 points. Spendy, but totally worth the cash.<br /></div>

As evidenced by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/japanesehardwaresales">our weekly sales charts</a>, the Xbox 360 is finally making some (see: any) headway in Japan, strengthened by a recent salvo of Square-Enix releases on the system. As such, Microsoft finally has the customer base to justify exporting a feature that Americans have been enjoying for over two years now -- the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Xbox%20Live%20Video%20Marketplace">Xbox Live Video Marketplace</a>.<br /><br />According to Famitsu, the Video Marketplace <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2008/12/04/xbox-live-video-marketplace-opens-in-japan-next-year/">will be landing on Japanese 360s sometime next year</a>, bringing with it a new slew of Japanese films and anime. Simmer down, <em>Naruto</em>-ites -- said content will be region-locked, leaving you to make due with your <em>unsophisticated </em>American programming. Unfortunately, the service's Japanese release date is fairly vague -- is an anticipated <em>quarter</em> too much to ask for a launch window? Come on, Microsoft. Help a ?? out.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/06/xbox-live-video-marketplace-opening-in-japan-next-year/">Xbox Live Video Marketplace opening in Japan next year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 06 Dec 2008 16:00:00 EST. We're big fans of the Xbox Live Video Marketplace, largely due to our own barren DVD collection and our nationwide banning from Blockbuster Video following our refusal to pay a $230 late fee on <em>Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants</em>. That's why this week's <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2008/10/24/562028.aspx">New Xbox Experience sneak preview</a> on Gamerscore Blog caught our eye -- it focuses on the revamped Video Marketplace and the soon-to-be-added Netflix functionality.<br /><br />No groundbreaking new information is revealed in the blog post, though some interesting statistics are given -- upon the launch of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/NXE/">NXE</a>, Netflix Unlimited subscribers with Xbox Live Gold accounts will be able to instantly stream over 12,000 movies to their consoles. Combined with more than 20,000 pieces of content on the XBVM, the NXE is shaping up to be a cinematic treasure trove -- best of all, there's no late fees, meaning we can finally enjoy all that <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0403508/">trouser-centric teen drama</a> on our own terms.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/25/new-xbox-experiences-video-marketplace-and-netflix-previewed/">New Xbox Experience's Video Marketplace and Netflix previewed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 25 Oct 2008 20:30:00 EST. This news may not be as exciting as the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/e308-netflix-on-360/">Netflix announcement</a>, but we're sure those diehard <em>Heroes </em>fans would probably beg to differ on that point.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/16/e308-nbc-universal-added-to-xbvm/">E308: NBC Universal added to XBVM</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Jul 2008 16:30:00 EST. The new release pickings are so slim, they're semi transparent and don't actually warrant the use of the word "they". "The" is a more appropriate term, because the only new release this week is <span style="font-style: italic;">Batman: Gotham Knight</span>. Which, seeing that we're in a very Batman <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-dark-knight">state of mind</a>, isn't all that bad of a release. And in HD, who could go wrong? Hit the break to be not at all surprised by all the new video release (singular) you'll be treated to.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/11/video-marketplace-weekly-the-dark-one-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video Marketplace Weekly: the dark one edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/11/video-marketplace-weekly-the-dark-one-edition/">Video Marketplace Weekly: the dark one edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Jul 2008 14:00:00 EST. But not all of you will. We know there's a select few (okay, about 76% of you) who will want to stay indoors and maybe rent a new movie release off the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbvm">Video Marketplace</a>. And really, that's not that bad of an idea. It's such a reasonable idea, that we've compiled a list of all the past week's new U.S. XBVM movie releases even though it isn't much of a list. There's actually only three releases this week which is sort of a bummer. But they're new new releases, so that kind of makes up for it. We'll keep you in suspense until you make it to the break, but we'll leave you with one final warning message. Do not, under any circumstances, rent this week's "Alternate Ending" movie. Stick with the original. Alternate endings only leave room for disappointment, sadness and anger.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/04/video-marketplace-weekly-new-fireworks-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video Marketplace Weekly: new fireworks edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/04/video-marketplace-weekly-new-fireworks-edition/">Video Marketplace Weekly: new fireworks edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 Jul 2008 15:30:00 EST. Microsoft and DC Comics have partnered to launch a new <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/marketplace/moviestv/dcnetwork.htm">DC Comics network</a> onto the XBLM, allowing gamers to purchase their favorite DC Comics based television shows. So far, they've committed to releasing episodes of <em>Batman: The Animated Series</em>, <em>Batman Beyond</em>, <em>Superman: The Fleischer Cartoons</em>, <em>Super Friends</em>, <em>The Adventures of Batman </em>and <em>Aquaman </em>as well as DC based 360 theme and gamer picture downloads. Exciting stuff, especially when you've had nothing but <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/"><em>Dark Knight</em></a> on the mind for the past few months.<br /><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://jarvisslacks.wordpress.com">Jarvis Slacks</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/30/dc-comics-swoops-in-and-saves-the-xblm/">DC Comics swoops in and saves the XBLM</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Jun 2008 16:45:00 EST. We do it because we care about you and your movie rental habits. And this week's new releases are ... well, nothing overly special, but they are new and that has to mean something. We guess a highlight could be the release of <span style="font-style: italic;">Fool's Gold</span> solely because it's McConaughey'riffic! That said ... we don't see much more. We're of course talking about the legendary pirates versus ninjas rivalry where new XBVM release <span style="font-style: italic;">Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest</span> will represent the pirates team and the classic (and free) rental <span style="font-style: italic;">Ninja Hunter</span> will represent team ninja. Who will win? We aren't sure, but whatever the outcome is we all should take comfort in knowing that ninjas are way cooler than those smelly pirates. So, with a noticeable gleam of happiness on our face, we present to you a free XBVM download of ABC's <a href="http://abcfamily.go.com/abcfamily/path/section_Shows+Middleman/page_Detail"><em>The Middleman</em></a>. We aren't sure how entertaining this <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/marketplace/media/bf512661-27f2-4274-b5c2-a326bf52d4b8/">"The Pilot Episode Sanction" episode</a> of <em>The Middleman</em> is, but it's free so there really isn't any harm. That is unless you have to remove XBLA games or game demos from your hard drive to make space, then we advise thinking about your downloading actions.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/12/free-xbvm-download-of-abcs-the-middleman/">Free XBVM download of ABC's The Middleman</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Jun 2008 12:30:00 EST. For at least a week anyway. The reason we say this is because there have been numerous super new and rather enjoyable movie releases to the Marketplace these past seven days, including <span style="font-style: italic;">National Treasure 2</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Semi-Pro</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">South Park Imaginationland</span> and this fanboy's personal favorite, <span style="font-style: italic;">Cloverfield</span>. There's a stellar list of new releases to check out after the break, so get checking and queue up some movie rentals tonight.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/07/video-marketplace-weekly-imagine-clover-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video Marketplace Weekly: Imagine clover edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/07/video-marketplace-weekly-imagine-clover-edition/">Video Marketplace Weekly: Imagine clover edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 07 Jun 2008 05:00:00 EST. During the conference, Netflix management mentioned interest in "internet-enabled video game consoles" which Pachter believes is not only a hint that Microsoft and Netflix will partner, but that it's actually a good move for both companies. "The competitive advantage of such an alliance is clear: Netflix customers who are Xbox Live members will have the ability to stream online content through their Xbox 360s directly to their televisions" says Pachter. "The ability to do so is available without the Xbox 360, but requires a measure of technological sophistication and a high tolerance for failure." Can you say IN-TER-EST-ING?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/02/analyst-speculates-netflixs-xbox-360-partnership/">Analyst speculates Netflix's Xbox 360 partnership</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 02 Jun 2008 10:00:00 EST. Usually we talk a quick and dirty recap about what new movies became available this past week, but this time there really is no need. There isn't a need because one movie rental is all you should care about. <span style="font-style: italic;">There Will Be Blood</span>. This film is a masterpiece, a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Day-Lewis">Daniel Day Lewis</a> epic and true actor's acting movie that will knock you down only to stand you back up and knock you over once again. <span style="font-style: italic;">There Will Be Blood</span> is a must see. And know that you're getting your downloading money's worth too, because the HD version clocks in at a ginormous 7.2GB in file size, where every MB is worth the wait. Go. Rent. Now.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/30/video-marketplace-weekly-there-will-be-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video Marketplace Weekly: There Will Be edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/30/video-marketplace-weekly-there-will-be-edition/">Video Marketplace Weekly: There Will Be edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 May 2008 18:00:00 EST. Why a Sunday? Well, we could feed you a list of made up excuses, but we think our relationship is at a point where we can be 100% honest with eachother. The reason is very simple ... we forgot. Shame on us! Shame! Shame! Shame! But look on the bright side, you still get a complete and comprehensive list of new U.S. movie releases to the XBVM albeit a day or two late. Enjoy, be happy and maybe rent a new movie release off the Marketplace this lovely Sunday evening.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/25/video-marketplace-weekly-its-sunday-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video Marketplace Weekly: it's Sunday edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/25/video-marketplace-weekly-its-sunday-edition/">Video Marketplace Weekly: it's Sunday edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 25 May 2008 20:00:00 EST. But this week it's a total flip flop. This week's U.S. XBVM only received seven new releases, but one of them is <span style="font-style: italic;">Sweeney Todd</span>. A Johnny Depp movie, which means we whole heartily approve. Heck, this week there's even <em>National Treasure</em> for cheap, which too is a good movie (though there isn't an HD rental option). Check the list of new releases after the break, because even though the list is slim, you may find something you enjoy.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/16/video-marketplace-weekly-sweeney-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video Marketplace Weekly: Sweeney edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/16/video-marketplace-weekly-sweeney-edition/">Video Marketplace Weekly: Sweeney edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 May 2008 12:30:00 EST. This week's list of new U.S. Video Marketplace releases is massive which results in this edition of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/video-marketplace-weekly">Video Marketplace Weekly</a> being massive as well. Almost too big. There are new movie rentals that range from Paris Hilton's <span style="font-style: italic;">The Hottie and the Nottie</span> to old-school Michael J. Fox <span style="font-style: italic;">Teen Wolf </span>to <span style="font-style: italic;">The Blue Collar Comedy Tour</span>. There's absolutely no way we can group or categorize the randomness and quantity of new XBVM releases this week. Take a look after the break for a list of this week's new XBVM releases which, we must say one more time, is massively massive.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/09/video-marketplace-weekly-too-many-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video Marketplace Weekly: too many edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/09/video-marketplace-weekly-too-many-edition/">Video Marketplace Weekly: too many edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 09 May 2008 14:30:00 EST. It's just what happens this time of year kids. That's why this edition of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/video-marketplace-weekly">Video Marketplace Weekly</a> is so important, because if rain ends up spoiling your normally fun filled outdoor activities, you know there's always a freshly baked movie waiting for you to rent off the Video Marketplace. And even though this week's releases aren't all that new or exciting (except for <span style="font-style: italic;">The Kite Runner</span>), we're sure you can find something in the XBVM catalog. Stay dry, stay indoors and spend those points.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/02/video-marketplace-weekly-go-fly-a-kite-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video Marketplace Weekly: go fly a kite edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/02/video-marketplace-weekly-go-fly-a-kite-edition/">Video Marketplace Weekly: go fly a kite edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 02 May 2008 14:15:00 EST. That is if you enjoy toxic horror movies or comedic gold, because <span style="font-style: italic;">Toxic Avenger Part II</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">III </span>as well as <span style="font-style: italic;">Toxic Crusaders: The Movie </span>released to the U.S. Video Marketplace. Also, the <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0136797/">Steve Carell</a> comedy <span style="font-style: italic;">Dan in Real Life</span> released which, we'll admit, has to feature one of our favorite movie covers. Probably because we like pancakes and listening to them as if they were a bowl of <a href="http://www.ricekrispies.com/">Rice Krispies</a>. X3F readers may recall the announcement in late March that web production company Safran will soon be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/31/safran-to-produce-original-content-for-xbvm/">producing original short video content</a> for Xbox Live's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/video-marketplace">Video Marketplace</a>. We now have new details regarding the upcoming content thanks to <a href="http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/684741/XBox_Live_Casting_Original_Production.html">G4TV</a>, which is reporting a casting call for one of the original programs. The unnamed program is to be directed by James Gunn (director of the sickeningly funny horror film <a href="http://imdb.com/title/tt0439815/"><em>Slither</em></a>). According to G4TV, the show sits somewhere between <em>South Park</em> and <em>Wonder Showzen</em> (make of <em>that</em> what you will). Oh, and we've forgotten what is perhaps the most important detail: one of the acting parts up for grabs is "Girl in Bikini." What sort of acting chops do you need to play this part? Apparently they're looking for someone who is "super hot, good with comedy," and just in case you weren't sure, "MUST LOOK GREAT IN BIKINI."<br /><br />So, we should expect these videos to be tasteful and worth watching then?<br /><br />[Original image: <strong><a title="Link to brainware3000's photostream" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/brainware3000/"><strong>brainware3000</strong></a>]</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/xbox-live-casting-call-must-look-great-in-bikini/">Xbox Live casting call: "Must look great in bikini"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Apr 2008 14:30:00 EST. Three new partnerships that are all said to be with major companies. Three new partnerships that they are keeping secret and will announce soon. You see where we're going with this?<br /><br />It has been no secret that Netflix has been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/25/netflix-confirms-xbox-360-surveys/">kicking around the idea</a> of using the Xbox 360 to grow its subscription service and their announcement of three new partnerships could ultimately lead to Microsoft being one. But, like we said, this is a huge stretch. Microsoft already has a lot invested in the current <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbvm">Video Marketplace</a> setup and the addition of Netflix would throw a huge wrench into things. That is unless there's piles of cash to be made ... so, maybe?<br /><br />[Thanks, Greg Lawson]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/rumor-netflixs-new-partnerships-to-include-the-360/">Rumor: Netflix's new partnerships to include the 360</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Apr 2008 11:30:00 EST. Did you also know that when Video Marketplace weekly appears on Saturday instead of its normal Friday time slot, it's usually due to the writer forgetting totally about it? It's interesting and true.<br /><br />This week, we'll keep the wordage down to a minimum, because all you really need to know is that <span style="font-style: italic;">I Am Legend </span>is on the Marketplace and in juicy HD glory. We think you'll agree that killing zombie-vampires will never look so good. But there are other new video rental gems as well, so we advise taking a jump towards the break to read about all eleven of them. Sound like a plan? Good. Head towards the break as soon as you can.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/19/video-marketplace-weekly-legendary-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video Marketplace Weekly: legendary edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/19/video-marketplace-weekly-legendary-edition/">Video Marketplace Weekly: legendary edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 19 Apr 2008 09:30:00 EST. Those were good times. And if the childhood experience you just envisioned took place sometime during the mid 1980s, we bet your cartoon viewing habits probably included feline-tastic <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voltron"><em>Voltron</em></a>. The same cartoon that's now available on the U.S. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbvm">Video Marketplace</a> where, for a limited time, you can download the very first SD episode of <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/marketplace/media/dc4e2742-8346-4dd2-857a-1bb08aa0049a/"><em>Voltron</em> for free</a>! So, re-live your childhood, pour some <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fruity_Pebbles">Fruity Pebbles</a>, plunk down on the couch and watch some <em>Voltron</em>.<br /><br />[Thanks, ccc]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/16/grab-a-free-episode-of-voltron-off-the-xbvm/">Grab a free episode of Voltron off the XBVM</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Apr 2008 12:30:00 EST.
