Most importantly of all, the YouTube app will allow Vita users to access the shiny new Joystiq YouTube channel, revamped with new content, fresh videos and original features. We guess people on computers, using smartphones and browsing tablets can access the Joystiq channel, too, but can they do it while stroking the back of their screen? Well, yeah, but that would just look weird.

"What we're seeing is that people are turning on the Xbox to play games and then keeping it on afterwards to get other types of entertainment," Mehdi said.

The Xbox 360 isn't a gaming console; it's now officially an entertainment center that includes games, and it's becoming more popular with this angle. Today households spend an average of 84 hours a month playing games and using other apps on Xbox Live, up 30 percent from a year prior. To compare, the average household watches 150 hours of TV each month.

Even before Kinect, a tool that has always made more sense as an entertainment control rather than a gaming one, Microsoft has wanted the Xbox 360 to be "the heart of connected digital entertainment," as HBO senior vice president of consumer technology Otto Berkes put it.

Today Microsoft added MLB.TV, HBO GO and Comcast Xfinity TV apps to its lineup, which already includes Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, Zune, Last.fm and others.

This time around, it tackles such myths as destroying holograms with armor lock, protecting yourself from assault bomb explosions and -- perhaps coolest of all -- actually catching a rocket in an armor lock hold.

The gang also shows itself "wearing" powerups from the game, which is confirmed to be possible, although it's basically a glitch that the host can't actually do. Being as it's a glitch, you'll have to try that one at your own risk -- Bungie may not take kindly to it once discovered. It is probably good with the rocket catch, though, so do that one all you want. It's pretty awesome.

But how many users actually know how to take advantage of all of the system's features out of the box? With PS3 increasingly positioning itself as a be-all entertainment device, Sony is forced to confront the XMB's clutter of icons, which may be befuddling mainstream consumers.

PSN director Susan Panico told us that Sony is currently "creating educational videos that will be a great welcome kit for people that are coming to the PS3 and the PlayStation Network," which aim to "really walk them through all the advantages you get from the PlayStation Network," including the store. The videos "will answer questions like, 'How do I have Netflix movies stream on my PS3?' And it will certainly talk about original content available," Panico noted, referring to PSN productions like The Tester and Pulse. "That's something that's really important to us -- to make sure people understand from the get-go how to find all this great content."

While many of the details are still being ironed out, the how-to videos will appear both on the web and on the XMB. "Primarily, it's going to be content that you find very easily on PlayStation.com, as well as on the console itself," Panico said, though "we haven't decided where it's going to live on the XMB." Presumably, it'll be in a prime position, lest Sony find itself posting a "How to find the how-to videos" video.

inFamous is due out in around three months and we still haven't seen that much of it yet. These videos seek to change that by showing around eleven minutes of gameplay montage footage. It's looking good, if a bit samey. The platforming sections look like they're a lot of fun, though the combat seems like it could get a bit repetitive. We guess that'll depend on the full scope of Cole's powers. We suspect that the game's writing and story will make or break the experience. Check out all four videos after the break.

Fancy a look at just a few of upcoming space-based survival horror Dead Space's weapons? Then you're in luck. GameTrailers has three videos, each showing one of the game's weapons in action. Our favorite? The Line Gun. Using it to slice through enemies looks extremely visceral and satisfying. Having said that we have a soft spot for the Pulse Gun's secondary fire too.

In reality, it's just an excuse to watch more gameplay footage, which we're always happy to do. Dead Space will be out in less than a month, so this is a perfect way to ramp up the hype a bit. The videos can be found after the cut.

It seems that even Ubisoft wants to know what an average day is like for our very own Ludwig Kietzmann. Is life in Africa really as crazy as he makes it out to be? Clint Hocking and his team have dedicated themselves to finding that out. They are going to great lengths to put players into Ludwig's shoes via a variety of immersion-enhancing elements in Far Cry 2, which Clint himself talks about in a brand-new video after the break.

As an added bonus, we've included a new, all-gameplay video of Sony's Afrika (Hakuna Matata outside of Japan) after the break as well, since Ludwig assures us that this game is also highly representative of his daily routine.

If grainy low-res gameplay videos get you all hot and bothered under the collar, then you're in for quite a treat. IGN has posted four Secret Agent Clank videos that aren't exactly the prettiest we've ever seen, but they do show some more of what we can expect from the Clank's adventure, and it's pretty funny to see Ratchet get thrown into the "big house."

There's not much to say about this newly released developer walkthrough for Condemned 2: Bloodshot that the video doesn't tell you, with the exception that this game is going to kick much more ass than the previous game. Condemned 2's lead game designer, Frank Rook explains how the game's chain attacks work and shows the more in-depth forensic system.

Despite the fact that all the video is in the pre-beta stage, the game is already looking great, and we can't wait to see more.

Up until yesterday, the living room set-top box was simply a "hobby" for Apple; its fumbled Apple TV product did little to unseat the HD video rental download champ, the largely uncontested Xbox Live Video Marketplace. With a fresh splash of software for new boxes and a free upgrade for current users, Apple TV Take 2 is giving it another shot.

Of course, for an audience of gamers (that's us!), Apple's product has a particularly severe handicap but, on a strictly video entertainment scale, it manages to best the Xbox Live Video Marketplace in just about every category. Now we realize this is, in many ways, an apples to oranges comparison (sorry), but Microsoft isn't just competing for gamer dollars anymore and competition is growing (in fact, the at-home-rental set-top box industry will see another entrant later this year with Netflix).

To get to the bottom of which service provides the most bang for your e-buck, we ran some data through our handy-dandy (and patent pending!) Tabulator and it spit out the table found after the break. Be sure to let us know in the comments if there's anything we're it's missing.

Believe it or not, Capcom's Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law is actually going to be the first PSP game released in 2008, and judging by everything we've seen up to this point, it could be everything Phoenix Wright fans and PSP owners have been waiting for.

However, some critics might argue it's more of an interactive cartoon than a full-on mystery/courtroom sim, but we won't know for sure until we get our hands on it when it releases Jan. 8. Either way, we're sure fans of the series will be in for a treat.

Fresh off the release of a couple extremely awesome commercials featuring the 40GB PS3 and a slew of other great features that make us love our PlayStation 3, we were starting to regain some of our lost confidence in the Sony hype machine. However, all that may have grinded to a halt with this bizarre commercial recently released in Europe.

Although we've always thought the European's taste in just about everything is rather odd, this commercial raises that bar to an entirely new and utterly disturbing level. However, while most Sony commercials have always retained their oddity, they haven't always been bad. Anyone remember I am the Wolfman?

Friday always seems like a good day to post some funny videos. It's the end of the week. People are happy to be getting off work for the weekend. And so, we're less likely to get all the outraged "THIS ISN'T NEWS" comments. So please, sit back, relax, and enjoy these videos we have gathered for your enjoyment. First up is the Halo 3 video you see above. Oftentimes in the game, the only time we appreciate the physics engine is when you see your limp, dead body crumple to the ground. However, most objects have physics attached to them, including rockets and grenades. In fact, with proper timing (or incredible luck), a grenade can deflect a rocket. After watching the first level of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, it's hard not to be blown away by the sheer graphical beauty Naughty Dog has been able to capture. At times, it really feels like you're watching a movie as Nathan shoots, punches, climbs and jumps his way throughout the level.

Andrew noted the game has come a long way since its E3 showing, and we can certainly tell. The most exciting part is Naughty Dog still has nearly two months for some fine tuning before it's set to ship.

It's been awhile since we last heard anything about Sony's spelling-challenged safari romp, Afrika. When it was first unveiled, the consensus was, graphically, the title looked great, but no one really knew what the point of the game was.

This video will do nothing to better explain the game's gameplay, unless it involves taking voyeuristic photos of meercats and giraffes mating in their natural habitat or trying to run over endangered animals.

Who knows, though, we're sure there's a huge market for that kinda thing somewhere.

So far in Valkyrie of the Battlefield's short life, we've only seen the occasional screen or magazine scan, but now Sega has finally taken the wraps of its newest PS3-exclusive RPG.

Sega kicked off the cel-shading revolution with Jet Set Radio, but now the company is pushing the technology even further by using it to create gorgeous watercolor-theme graphics, which its calling Canvas. It really does look like a painting has come to life.

While we would have loved to see some actual gameplay, there's no denying the game looks great. Let's just cross our fingers that Sega decides to ship this baby worldwide.
