Sony's lengthy <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/10/playstation-e3-2013-liveblog-on-joystiq/">E3 press conference</a> was riddled with lots of game trailers - so many that we have to pile some of them into this little post for your viewing pleasure. While you take a quick break from your freak-out session over the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/10/ps4-launches-399/">PlayStation 4's $399 price tag</a>, check out this trailer for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/infamous-second-son">Infamous: Second Son</a></em>.<br />
<br />
Additionally, you'll find the likes of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/driveclub"><em>Driveclub</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Killzone-Shadow-Fall/"><em>Killzone: Shadow Fall</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/assassins-creed-4-black-flag"><em>Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Knack/"><em>Knack</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/watch-dogs"><em>Watch Dogs</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/transistor"><em>Transistor</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-origins"><em>Batman: Arkham Origins</em></a> after the break, each in trailer form. <em>Dead Island</em> creator Techland wants to bring first-person parkour back onto our screens with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/dying-light-adds-a-dash-of-parkour-to-techlands-zombie-tour/">Dying Light</a> - </em>and perhaps provide competition for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mirrors-edge-2">a certain would-be-sequel</a>. While scavenging, combat, and stealth are all being billed as big parts of <em>Dying Light</em>, this CGI trailer shows the kind of agility required to keep your footing - and your flesh - in the game's zombified dystopia.<br />
<br />
<em>Dying Light</em> is coming to Xbox One, PS4, PS3, and Xbox 360 next year.<br />

The <em>Komplete Edition</em> of the 2011 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mortal-kombat-2011/"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> finishes Windows PC this summer, with the digital distributed fatality pinned for July 3. Retail annihilation is due a month later, so duck and cover on August 2 in Europe, and on August 6 in North America.<br />
<br />
As per the version released for consoles <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/09/mortal-kombat-komplete-edition-koming-to-konsoles-february-28/">last year</a>, <em>Komplete Edition</em> features all the game's DLC, with the expanded roster including a certain Freddy Kreuger (the regular creepy kind), Kenshi, Scarlet, and Rain. <em>Conduit</em> and <em>Kinect Star Wars</em> developer High Voltage Games, who've just released the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/15/zoombies-review-portabliss/">"addictive"</a> puzzler <em>Zoombies</em> for iOS, is handling the PC port.<br />

A leaked pre-order image <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/19/arkham-origins-stars-deathstroke-in-some-playable-capacity/">tipped us off yesterday</a> and the press release past the break confirms it: Deathstroke is a playable character in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-origins"><em>Batman Arkham Origins</em></a>. He'll be unlocked in the game's challenge mode, and all who plunk down cash early will enjoy some exclusive maps and character skins associated with him.<br />
<br />
Deathstroke is seemingly a leading man in the video game world now, with <em>Batman: Arkham Origins</em> his second role of the year after <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/injustice-gods-among-us"><em>Injustice: Gods Among Us</em></a> in April. His real name is Slade Wilson, a mercenary and assassin created by teenage cartoonist Gary Wilson in 1980.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/20/batman-arkham-origins-challenge-mode-has-a-deathstroke/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Batman: Arkham Origins challenge mode has a Deathstroke</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/20/batman-arkham-origins-challenge-mode-has-a-deathstroke/">Batman: Arkham Origins challenge mode has a Deathstroke</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 May 2013 19:00:00 EST. Warner Bros. revealed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-origins"><em>Batman: Arkham Origins</em></a> is fronted by two of gaming's most prominent voice actors. Roger Craig Smith is confirmed as the caped crusader, and Troy Baker is his nemesis, the Joker.<br />
<br />
If you don't recognize the names, you'll definitely recognize their previous work. Craig Smith's immense portfolio includes Ezio Auditore from Assassin's Creed, Chris Redfield from Resident Evil, <em>and</em> he's the current voice of Sonic. While he's never starred in anything Batman related, he does have superhero experience. It is for the other side, however; he's played Captain America in both games and animations.<br />
<br />
Baker is similarly prolific. While he recently graced our screens as Booker DeWitt in <em>BioShock Infinite</em>, his past work includes Sgt. Matt Baker in Gearbox's <em>Brothers in Arms</em>, Snow from the Final Fantasy 13 line, Kai Leng from <em>Mass Effect 3</em>, and Vincent from <em>Catherine</em>. When we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/30/troy-baker-the-industrys-new-nolan-north/">profiled</a> Baker around this time last year, he shared his love for all things Batman on the back of starring in <em>Arkham City</em>.<br />
<br />
"Being a part of Arkham City was just incredible - because I'm a huge Batman fan," Baker told us, "And to play Two-Face and Robin after growing up watching <em>The Animated Series</em> was a banner moment for me."<br />
<br />
The news follows apparent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/19/kevin-conroy-returns-for-batman-arkham-origins/">confirmation</a> long-time Batman vocalist Kevin Conroy <em>does </em>star<em> </em>in <em>Origins</em>, but how he features remains to be seen. We know<em> Origins</em> deals with Batman's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/29/report-batman-arkham-origins-doesnt-feature-voice-actor-kevin/">"initiation into that insane world"</a> of the other Arkham games, so perhaps Conroy's role is something retrospective. Even if Conroy doesn't play the dark knight in any sense in <em>Origins</em>, to fans he's still <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&amp;v=ZX5A8q7_pKE">the goddamn Batman</a>.<br />

This <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/batman-arkham-origins">Batman: Arkham Origins</a></em> tease features no gameplay, no real concept of how the game will differ from the excellent <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-asylum">Arkham Asylum</a></em> and <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-city">Arkham City</a></em>. What it does feature is grizzled Batman in a CGI fight ballet with Deathstroke, and that's good enough for this morning.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/arkham-origins-tease-features-deathstroke-ballet/">Arkham Origins tease features Deathstroke ballet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 09:31:00 EST. According to South African magazine <a href="http://www.nag.co.za/2013/04/23/nag-magazine-may-2013-issue/">NAG</a>, Warner Bros. Montreal passed on Conroy, who played Batman in <em>Arkham Asylum </em>and <em>Arkham City</em>, as well as most of the hero's animated adventures across the last 20 years. NAG says the developer wanted another actor to portray <em>Origins</em>' younger version of the dark knight.<br /><br />The report adds up with WBG Montreal's approach to the upcoming prequel. In a <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2013/04/26/dc-39-s-geoff-johns-talks-batman-arkham-origins.aspx?PostPageIndex=1">Game Informer</a> interview, DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns explained <em>Origins</em> is about "Batman's initiation into that insane world" of the other Arkham games.<br /><br /><span>"It's called <em>Arkham Origins</em> and it really is the introduction of what Arkham means," Johns told Game Informer. "Arkham evokes a sense of insanity and chaos embodied in the twisted minds and colorful villains of the Batman universe. That had to start somewhere."<br /><br />As revealed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/09/batman-arkham-origins-revealed-on-game-informer-cover-out-oct/">earlier this month</a>, <em>Batman: Arkham Origins</em> swings onto retail shelves this year; the bat-time is October 25, and the bat-channels are PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC. Companion game <em>Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate</em> drops onto the Vita and 3DS on the same day. </span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/29/report-batman-arkham-origins-doesnt-feature-voice-actor-kevin/">Report: Batman Arkham Origins doesn't feature voice actor Kevin Conroy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 29 Apr 2013 15:30:00 EST. Is it a plane? No, it's this week's UK charts! Oh.<br /><br />But no, it <em>is</em> exciting, because <em>BioShock Infinite</em>'s three week reign of terror is finally over, all thanks to the brave efforts of <em>Injustice: Gods Among Us</em>. NetherRealm's superhero brawler becomes the ninth new game to take the UK top spot this year, and ousts <em>Infinite</em> into the runner-up position for the first time.<br /><br />That means another run comes to an end; <em>Tomb Raider</em>'s six week run in the top two is done, although it's still going strong in fourth. Beating it to an impressive third is new release <em>Fire Emblem: Awakening, </em>the 3DS RPG looking to continue the series-best sales it posted in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/15/fire-emblem-awakening-posts-180k-first-month-sales-63k-download/">North America</a>. One thing Europe got that North America didn't was the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/14/mh3-ultimate-fire-emblem-awakening-eu-bundles-unveiled-circle/">snazzy blue 3DS XL</a>, and that seems to be a hit in the UK; 31 percent of the XL's sales this week came from the bundle, boosting the XL's sales by nearly half over the previous week.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/22/injustice-gods-among-us-prevails-in-this-weeks-uk-charts/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Injustice: Gods Among Us prevails in this week's UK charts</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/22/injustice-gods-among-us-prevails-in-this-weeks-uk-charts/">Injustice: Gods Among Us prevails in this week's UK charts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 22 Apr 2013 08:00:00 EST. Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive announced the news today, revealing the Wii U version will support off-TV mode in both single-player and co-op, although players can employ the GamePad to access an "enhanced" map and touch-based character selection.<br /><br />The news also completes the game's console collection, having already released for DS, 3DS, Vita, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii, as well as PC and Mac. So when the PS4 comes around, we'll know what to expect, hmm? Or not... we don't know, really.<br /><br /><span>Warner Bros. also revealed the superhero sequel is up to 3.4 million copies sold worldwide, which, while impressive, is a fair ways behind the 11 million the original <em>Lego Batman</em> sold. </span><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/26/lego-batman-2-bat-coming-to-wii-u-this-bat-spring/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Lego Batman 2 bat-coming to Wii U this bat-spring</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/26/lego-batman-2-bat-coming-to-wii-u-this-bat-spring/">Lego Batman 2 bat-coming to Wii U this bat-spring</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 26 Feb 2013 11:30:00 EST. While the Nintendo versions endured a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/05/scribblenauts-unlimited-delayed-in-europe-no-eta-provided/">last-minute delay</a> last week, Warner Bros. The news comes courtesy of the Time Warner Q4 2012 earnings call, as posted by <a href="http://finance.yahoo.com/news/time-warner-management-discusses-q4-191012645.html">Yahoo! Finance</a>.<br /><br />"And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise," said John K. Martin, Time Warner chief financial officer and chief administrative officer.<br /><br />Warner Bros. Interactive and Rocksteady Studios released <em>Batman: Arkham Asylum</em> in 2009, followed by <em>Arkham City</em> in 2011. In that sense, a new Arkham game in 2013 adds up.<br /><br />According to a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/11/report-rocksteadys-next-batman-game-to-be-a-silver-age-based-p/">Variety</a> report from last year, Rocksteady is developing another Batman game, but it's set in the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Age_of_Comic_Books">Silver Age</a> of comic history, and isn't expected to be released until 2014. Maybe Variety and Warner are talking about the same game, but it sounds like they may not be. In any case, we've reached out to Warner Bros. Interactive for more info.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/12/new-batman-arkham-game-coming-this-year/">New Batman Arkham game coming this year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Feb 2013 10:30:00 EST. We've not yet heard from Nintendo, but it looks like the eShop launch was a gaffe.<br /><br /><strong>Update 2</strong>: Nintendo sent us the following statement:<br /><blockquote class="bq-standard"> "<em>Scribblenauts Unlimited</em> for Wii U which was recently delayed for Europe was made available today to download on the Nintendo eShop for a short period of time. This title has now been removed from the Nintendo eShop. We are very sorry for any confusion this may have caused and we hope to make further announcements on the European launch of these games very soon." </blockquote>Here's a curious one: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/scribblenauts-unlimited"><em>Scribblenauts Unlimited</em></a> is now available on Europe's Wii U eShop, despite Nintendo <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/05/scribblenauts-unlimited-delayed-in-europe-no-eta-provided/">officially delaying</a> the game's arrival in the continent earlier this week. As spotted on <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=512298">NeoGAF</a> and verified by us, the game is listed on the console's online shop for purchase and download, priced &pound;49.99/&euro;59.99.<br /><br />There are a few things odd about this. For one, the same can't be said for the 3DS version, which isn't on the handheld's eShop. Secondly, Nintendo's statement from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/05/scribblenauts-unlimited-delayed-in-europe-no-eta-provided/">earlier in the week</a> made it clear that changes needed to be made within the game before it could be launched in Europe. Thirdly, if the Wii U eShop launch is intended - and given that <em>Unlimited</em> doesn't appear on the portal's main page and has to be searched for to be found, it may well not be - why is the game available online but not in physical form?<br /><br />All in all, this underlines what's been a bewildering approach to bringing <em>Unlimited</em> to Nintendo systems in Europe. The 3DS and Wii U games launched in other regions around the Wii U's launch, and were expected to in Europe until, at the last minute, they were <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/23/scribblenauts-unlimited-not-coming-to-europe-until-2013/">given</a> a 2013 window. Then, just three days ahead of their listed releases today, publisher Nintendo announced a delay, leaving Europeans waiting for the games once more.<br /><br />We've reached out to Nintendo for comment.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/08/scribblenauts-unlimited-pops-up-on-european-wii-u-eshop-despite/">Scribblenauts Unlimited pops up on European Wii U eShop despite delay [update: and it's gone]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Feb 2013 05:00:00 EST. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment previously announced an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/20/injustice-gods-among-us-receives-april-2013-release-window/">April</a> window, but today it confirmed the release date for Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U, along with the reveal of the Battle Edition.<br /><br />The Battle Edition, not to be confused with the already revealed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/26/injustice-collectors-edition-includes-wonder-woman-vs-batman-s/">Collector's Edition</a>, costs $149.99, and PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are coming to GameStop and EB Games stores in the US and Canada, <strike>although it's also been confirmed for Wii U</strike>. [Update: Warner Bros. says the Wii U confirmation in its press release was an error.]. The big inclusion, as you can see above, is the special fight stick controller, along with three DLC skins of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman as they are in DC Comics' The New 52 revamp. Among other features, the fightstick offers "adjustable illumination" for the joystick and buttons, just in case you're picky about how your controllers light up.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/injustice-gods-among-us-battle-and-collectors-edition/">Injustice: Gods Among Us (Battle Edition and Collector's Edition)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/injustice-gods-among-us-battle-and-collectors-edition/#5573171"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/igaubattle-editionps3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Battle Edition - PS3" title="Battle Edition - PS3" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/injustice-gods-among-us-battle-and-collectors-edition/#5573172"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/igaubattle-editionxbox_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Battle Edition - Xbox 360" title="Battle Edition - Xbox 360" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/injustice-gods-among-us-battle-and-collectors-edition/#5573173"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/igaucollectors-editionps3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Collector's Edition - PS3" title="Collector's Edition - PS3" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/injustice-gods-among-us-battle-and-collectors-edition/#5573174"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/igaucollectors-editionxbox_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Collector's Edition - Xbox 360" title="Collector's Edition - Xbox 360" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/15/injustice-gods-among-us-hits-april-16-batte-edition-revealed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Injustice: Gods Among Us hits April 16, Battle Edition revealed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/15/injustice-gods-among-us-hits-april-16-batte-edition-revealed/">Injustice: Gods Among Us hits April 16, Battle Edition revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Jan 2013 10:28:00 EST. Walrath concluded that THQ's plan does not allow enough time for interested parties other than Clearlake Capital Group to get properly involved in the process. Therefore, the plan is rejected. <br /><br />"I am not convinced that we are under the gun to have a sale process by the 15th," Walrath said during the hearing, according to <a href="http://www.businessweek.com/news/2013-01-04/thq-denied-approval-of-bankruptcy-sale-process-and-loan">Business Week</a>. Another hearing has been scheduled for Monday, January 7. "In the meantime I think the parties need to talk."<br /><br />Meanwhile, five companies are in the process of <a href="http://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/duediligence.asp#axzz2H8FqEfCk">due diligence</a>, Centerview Partners banker Sam Greene testified during the hearing. Warner Bros. lawyer Howard J. Weg was also in attendance, saying that WB would be interested in further exploring THQ's available assets, should the sales period be extended.<br /><br />Buying up franchises from bankrupt developers is nothing new for Warner Bros., and considering how well <em>Mortal Kombat</em> turned out, it may not be a terrible development, should it come to pass. Imagine, for instance, a Saints Row game developed by RockSteady, or a Darksiders fighting game developed by NetherRealm Studios. Worse things <em>have</em> happened. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/05/judge-denies-thqs-plan-for-a-quick-sale-as-warner-bros-others/">Judge denies THQ's plan for a quick sale as Warner Bros., others show interest</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 05 Jan 2013 15:00:00 EST. No, you didn't miss out on some hit cartoon or established franchise that's being adapted into a Lego game; this is a new original property, tying into a new collection of Lego toys about a "land inhabited by different magical animal tribes."<br /><br />Legends of Chima's video game branch actually comprises three games. <em>Lego Legends of Chima: Speedorz</em> is a "racing mini-game" that will be available today on Lego.com and tomorrow on iOS. <em>Lego Legends of Chima: Laval's Journey</em>, coming to 3DS and Vita in the summer and DS in the fall, is an "amazing adventure" starring the warrior Laval, who is basically Lion-O from the Thundercats.<br /><br /><em>Lego Legends of Chima Online</em> is the most ambitious of the three games, a free-to-play "online world" from WB Montreal that lets players build weapons and structures, and interact with the Chima characters in missions. It's due this fall.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/02/lego-legends-of-chima-builds-a-new-world-across-three-games/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>'Lego: Legends of Chima' builds a new world across three games</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/02/lego-legends-of-chima-builds-a-new-world-across-three-games/">'Lego: Legends of Chima' builds a new world across three games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Jan 2013 11:00:00 EST. Posting on <a href="https://twitter.com/5THCell/status/268513194400698368">Twitter</a>, the developer noted "2013" is the European window for both the Wii U and PC versions.<br /><br />With <em>Unlimited</em> being a Wii U launch arrival in North America, fans expected it to join the system in Europe on November 30. Posting on <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=44548429#post44548429">NeoGAF</a>, 5th Cell CEO Jeremy Slaczka said the 2013 window for Europe is "due to things outside of development," and not related to localization issues.<br /><br />There's also confusion over the Australian release, with 5th Cell and publisher Warner Bros. apparently contradicting each other. <a href="https://twitter.com/5THCell/status/268886582340247553">According to 5th Cell</a>, <em>Unlimited</em> is actually limited to North America until 2013. What's curious is there seems to be zero official word from Monolith or publisher <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/warner-bros-interactive">Warner Bros. Interactive</a> on the matter. What's more, the game appeared as an unofficial listing on Steam's Open Steamworks database <a href="http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/8/28/3275598/open-steamworks-lists-gotham-city-impostors-as-free-to-play">earlier</a> this week.<br /><br />There are downloadable content packs listed on <em>impostors</em>' <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/206210/">Steam page</a> too, although the price list looks oddly incomplete. It very much seems the game launched accidentally, but it's definitely there. We're downloading it right now, and people are <a href="https://twitter.com/MasvSolarStorm/status/241381698321932288">playing</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/SteelCityy/status/241430809913987072">it</a>.<br /><br />We've reached out to Warner Bros. Interactive for comment.<br /><br />[Thanks, Ethan]<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> Warner Bros. Interactive sends us a press release, which you can find after the break. It says those who download the new Steam version have "will have access to the original game, as well as all DLC packs, which includes new maps, weapons, mascots and more." There's also a <a href="http://www.gothamcityimpostors.com/migration-to-steam">'Migration to Steam'</a> page up on the game's website, which offers 'exclusive rewards' to anyone who' previously purchased the game. <p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/31/gotham-city-impostors-f2p-arrives-on-steam-very-very-quietly/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Gotham City Impostors F2P arrives on Steam very, very quietly [update: trailer]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/31/gotham-city-impostors-f2p-arrives-on-steam-very-very-quietly/">Gotham City Impostors F2P arrives on Steam very, very quietly [update: trailer]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 31 Aug 2012 07:00:00 EST. The game is headed to "next generation games consoles and PC" with Warner Bros. Interactive as publisher.<br /><br />The game's set in 1936 Shanghai, China - "Whore of the Orient. Paris of the East," as the website calls it. A "group of Western cops hopelessly trying to keep the lid on and keep the peace" seems to be the focal point of the game (the group's known as the "International Police Force"), though it's unclear exactly what kind of game it is. It sounds to be just as hard-boiled as Team Bondi's last effort, <em>LA Noire</em>, and the gritty look of the image above incurs the same comparison.<br /><br />Team Bondi leader Brendan McNamara is once again at the head of the project, leading the remnants of <em>LA Noire</em>'s dev team <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/09/report-team-bondi-sells-assets-to-mad-max-studio-kmm-staff-of/">picked up by Kennedy Miller Mitchell</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/30/la-noire-teams-whore-of-the-orient-headed-next-gen-published/">LA Noire team's 'Whore of the Orient' headed next-gen, published by WB</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 30 Aug 2012 09:29:00 EST. New Zealanders - beyond the beautiful rolling hills and verdant greenery - get iOS games ahead of the rest of the planet due to the position of the sun and how that relates to our definition of time, you see, so it's already available in that territory. The game has a set launch date of August 30, but some territories are already <em>in the future</em>.<br /><br />Anyway, <em>Bastion</em>'s iPad-only for now, which Supergiant says was a decision made due to "technical reasons." Additionally, the team, "felt the game experience would not translate well to the iPhone's smaller screen."<br /><br />When it arrives on the US App Store, it'll cost $4.99 and there's no demo version - you could always <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/09/play-bastion-in-your-chrome-browser-right-now/">try it out in Google Chrome first</a>? However, other than some vague tweets, we didn't know <em>why</em> that was the case. The reason turns out to be much less thrilling than any of his Batman scripts:<br /><blockquote class="bq-standard"> "The last talk I had with Warner Interactive about future games was while I was doing promotion for <em>Arkham City</em> last September. Naturally as there was such a rush of interest about <em>Arkham City</em>, everyone was asking me about a third game, and frankly, I had been wondering about that myself. When I asked about the possibility of working on a third game I was told that as Rocksteady had just finished wrapping the second one, it would be a while before everyone was ready to sit down and discuss future plans. That said, it was intimated that for future games, Warner and Rocksteady might not be looking as much to freelance writers, the message being, that if I had something else interesting coming my way, I might want to take it."</blockquote>Dini says he wasn't included in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/batman-arkham-city,dlc"><em>Arkham City</em>'s DLC projects</a>, and he hasn't been tapped for work on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/11/report-rocksteadys-next-batman-game-to-be-a-silver-age-based-p/">rumored Silver Age-themed Batman game</a>, said to be Rocksteady's next project. He's since taken on other work that makes him "unavailable to take on anything new until 2013." He's not bitter, though, even noting that "If we wind up working together again at some point, that would be cool, too."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/06/paul-dini-explains-absence-from-next-batman-game/">Paul Dini explains absence from next Batman game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Aug 2012 18:45:00 EST. But Boon wouldn't mind getting away from the fighting game rigmarole, granted <em>Injustice</em> "does well."<br /><br />"If it does well, we would like to see our next step be a non-fighting game, maybe something unique in its own right," Boon told <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/07/12/injustice-for-all-ed-boon-shares-vision-for-dc-fighter/">PlayStation Blog</a>. "This is our first step in that direction."<br /><br />But this doesn't mean Boon's ready to look beyond <em>Injustice</em> just yet. There's a lot planned for the DC brawler, including a DLC character campaign comparable to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mortal-kombat-2011,dlc">what we saw in <em>Mortal Kombat</em></a>. "We'll definitely want to introduce unexpected characters [via DLC] to <em>Injustice</em>. That'll be our strategy. According to unnamed sources speaking with the film industry publication, Rocksteady's currently at work on a "new, highly stylized" Bats prequel game "that revolves around Batman's first meeting with the Joker."<br /><br />This new game - not expected until 2014 at least - is supposedly set in the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Age_of_Comic_Books">Silver Age</a> of comics. Warner Bros. has yet to confirm the news, and Rocksteady hasn't said a peep about any new projects since <em>Arkham City</em> wrapped last year. And as far as we know, no one's discovered any hidden rooms in <em>Arkham City</em> that reveal future games. With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/guardians-of-middle-earth"><em>Guardians of Middle-earth</em></a>, we don't think we'll be able to do that, though.<br /><br />Perhaps it's because we're invested in the lore of <em>Lord of the Rings</em>, because we've spent years devouring the books, films and Trivial Pursuit board games, and we've rooted for Frodo, Gandalf and the good guys to win the whole time. Choosing to play as Sauron now would feel <em>dirty</em>.<br /><br />That said, the first-ever gameplay trailer for <em>Guardians of Middle-earth</em> makes each side look equally cool, and it promises the game will launch this fall, for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/10/guardians-of-middle-earth-brings-moba-to-xbla-and-psn/">XBLA and PSN only</a>. The studio first cut its teeth on first-person shooters, finding a cult hit in the popular <em>No One Lives Forever </em>series. Then, it was a vast experiment with <em>The Matrix Online</em>, before coming back to shooters with the <em>Fear</em> and <em>Condemned</em> series of games. And now, the company's trying to reinvent itself yet again with two licensed downloadable titles for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment: first <em>Gotham City Imposters</em> from earlier this year, and now <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/guardians-of-middle-earth"><em>Guardians of Middle-earth</em></a>.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Guardians of Middle-earth</span> is a weird one. It's a licensed <em>Lord of The Rings</em> title, starring characters from Tolkien's series. It's a MOBA game, similar to <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/league-of-legends"><em>League of Legends</em></a> or <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dota-2"><em>DOTA 2</em></a>, featuring Tolkien's characters fighting it out across a battlefield full of AI-controlled troops. And it's a complicated, deep online multiplayer title, designed for competitive play.<br /><br />"What's so weird about that?" you ask? It's being developed only for consoles.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guardians-of-middle-earth-e3-2012/">Guardians of Middle-earth (E3 2012)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guardians-of-middle-earth-e3-2012/#5071153"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/guardians-of-middle-earthe3screenshotdwarvenmight_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guardians-of-middle-earth-e3-2012/#5071154"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/guardians-of-middle-earthe3screenshotinbase_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guardians-of-middle-earth-e3-2012/#5071155"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/guardians-of-middle-earthe3screenshotleadingcharge_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guardians-of-middle-earth-e3-2012/#5071156"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/guardians-of-middle-earthe3screenshotpushingtower_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guardians-of-middle-earth-e3-2012/#5071158"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/guardians-of-middle-earthcharacter-artgandalf_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/10/guardians-of-middle-earth-brings-moba-to-xbla-and-psn/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Guardians of Middle-earth brings MOBA to XBLA and PSN</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/10/guardians-of-middle-earth-brings-moba-to-xbla-and-psn/">Guardians of Middle-earth brings MOBA to XBLA and PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 10 Jun 2012 21:00:00 EST. I painted the shade three different colors -- is argyle a color? -- and then generated a "ferret," whose head I detached and stuck to the top of the lamp. Why not. Then, I altered the properties of the lamp so that the lamp was alive. Then I made it a weapon. I set it so that it was the kind that shoots projectiles, and I replaced the standard "bullet" with "librarian," resulting in a constant arc of librarians issuing forth.<br /><br />If, like me, you're proud of your work, you'll be able to share your items online. If you can't solve a problem with a regular item, why not ... mutate it cruelly?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/07/scribblenauts-unlimited-and-the-birth-of-the-ferret-headed-libra/">Scribblenauts Unlimited and the birth of the ferret-headed librarian-throwing lamp</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Jun 2012 21:30:00 EST. Warner Bros. Interactive's Monolith Productions is crafting the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit-themed MOBA, and the studio plans on launching the game this fall (ahead of this December's film, <em>The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey</em>).<br /><br />According to the announcement, 10 players will battle in five-on-five matches set against the backdrop of Middle-earth. Various Lord of the Rings bulletpoints will be hit, of course, with characters like Gollum and Sauron available for fighting (as "Guardians" - think <em>League of Legends</em>' "Hero" characters). We'll assuredly get a closer look at the game next week during E3.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/30/lord-of-the-rings-meets-moba-in-xbla-psn-guardians-of-middle-ea/">Lord of the Rings meets MOBA in XBLA/PSN 'Guardians of Middle-earth' from F.E.A.R. devs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 May 2012 10:00:00 EST. You'll cast spells with gestures and voice commands, play Quidditch, choose a house, take part in duels, battle against Voldemort, and other Potterly activities.<br /><br /><em>Harry Potter for Kinect</em> will be in stores this fall, where it will sell many, many copies.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/harry-potter-for-kinect/">Harry Potter for Kinect</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/harry-potter-for-kinect/#5046861"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/hpk020ollivanderswave1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/harry-potter-for-kinect/#5046862"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/hpk027trollbattle2wave1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/harry-potter-for-kinect/#5046863"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/hpk031mandrakerepottingwave1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/25/wb-conjures-up-harry-potter-for-kinect-this-fall/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>WB conjures up Harry Potter for Kinect this fall</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/25/wb-conjures-up-harry-potter-for-kinect-this-fall/">WB conjures up Harry Potter for Kinect this fall</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 May 2012 11:11:00 EST.
