I've since discovered, however, that <em>Injustice</em> is not only unlike <em>Mortal Kombat</em>, but also unlike the majority of games in the fighting genre's illustrious and storied history.<br /><br />There are many esoteric and subtle differences between the gameplay mechanics of <em>Injustice</em> and <em>Mortal Kombat</em> (such as the introduction of <em>Street Fighter</em>-style blocking, rather than NetherRealm's traditional block button system), but the main feature that sets the game apart is its fresh take on the combo breaker: The "Clash" system.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/injustice-gods-among-us/">Injustice: Gods Among Us</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/injustice-gods-among-us/#5059587"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/dcfscreens5212012001hires_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/injustice-gods-among-us/#5059588"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/dcfscreens5212012018hires_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/injustice-gods-among-us/#5059589"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/dcfscreens5212012107hires_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/injustice-gods-among-us/#5059590"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/dcfscreens5212012202hires_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/injustice-gods-among-us/#5059591"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/06/dcfscreens5212012253hires_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/06/risky-business-the-injustice-gods-among-us-clash-system/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Risky Business: The Injustice: Gods Among Us 'Clash' system</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/06/risky-business-the-injustice-gods-among-us-clash-system/">Risky Business: The Injustice: Gods Among Us 'Clash' system</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 Jun 2012 17:30:00 EST. Today, Warner Bros. celebrates one million downloads to date for the iOS title with a new Valentine's Day-themed update.<br /><br />Players will find a free new Valentine's Day playground in which to conjure up objects -- the press release offers a few suggestions for odd items, including a "loving, polka-dotted charonosaurus" or "giant, pink, flying chocolate box." If we didn't read heavy, leather-bound books, like, every day, we'd think WB was trying to pull a fast one on us with that charonosaurus business, but we assure you it is a real animal. It is, in fact, the ancestor of charizard.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/02/scribblenauts-remix-tops-a-million-downloads-valentines-day-up/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Scribblenauts Remix tops a million downloads, Valentine's Day update now available</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/02/scribblenauts-remix-tops-a-million-downloads-valentines-day-up/">Scribblenauts Remix tops a million downloads, Valentine's Day update now available</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Feb 2012 23:45:00 EST. A WB Games representative this evening confirmed to Joystiq that the publisher has "had to make reductions" across its Seattle-based studios this week. The layoffs were apparently a result of the publisher's "continual review of our business operations and fluctuating market conditions," and no specific studios were named in the comment.<br />
<br />
We first heard of potential firings at the company from 3D Realms co-founder <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/georgeb3dr/status/132573385602510848">George Broussard's Twitter account</a>, which puts the cuts at "60ish" folks in the studio's Seattle studios (which includes Monolith Productions, Snowblind Studios and Surreal Software). The latest release from WB Games Seattle was this week's Lord of the Rings: War in the North.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/04/warner-bros-makes-cuts-across-seattle-studios/">Warner Bros. makes cuts across Seattle studios</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 Nov 2011 21:30:00 EST. As <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/08/rumor-kratos-in-mortal-kombat-exclusively-on-ps3/">rumored this past week</a>, Kratos was confirmed during tonight's Spike VGAs as playable in the forthcoming <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011">Mortal Kombat</a></em> reboot. Scorpion's all "Get over here!" and Kratos is all "I don't think you know who I am!" You shoulda seen it! Well, actually, you can -- right now! The full debut of Kratos can be found after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/11/kratos-confirmed-for-mortal-kombat-exclusive-to-ps3/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Kratos confirmed for Mortal Kombat, exclusive to PS3</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/11/kratos-confirmed-for-mortal-kombat-exclusive-to-ps3/">Kratos confirmed for Mortal Kombat, exclusive to PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 11 Dec 2010 20:55:00 EST. Or should that be: <em>spell some blocks?</em> Anyway, the point is that a <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/lego-harry-potter-years-1-4"><em>Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4</em></a> demo is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. Finally, you can relive all the great moments from the books. Like when Harry accidentally summoned the Staypuft Marshmallow Man, or when Hermione flew the Millennium Falcon through the Death Star. Okay, so none of those things happened, but it's been like three years since the last book came out. Give us a break.<br />

The attractive and sweet smelling members of Gamerscore Blog will soon be visiting Monolith, developers of the upcoming <em>F.E.A.R.</em> sequel <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/project-origin"><em>Project Origin</em></a>. They won't just be sitting down for tea and crumpets either. No, they will be asking Monolith <em>questions</em>. That's where you come in, see, as they are now <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2008/04/14/558609.aspx">accepting questions</a> for their jaunt to Monolith's headquarters. All you have to do is head over to Gamerscore Blog and submit a question. There are no guarantees that any particular question will actually be <em>asked</em>, but we imagine the good ones will rise to the top. Our top question: why didn't they pick <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/05/name-the-f-e-a-r-sequel-win-in-game-cameo/">our submission</a> in the sequel naming contest?<br /><br />In related news, our friends at Gamertag Radio recently sat down to talk with Monolith themselves.
